‘The Balancing Act’ Honors Heart Health Month with Danny Gokey

O2 Media’s Hit Show The Balancing Act Honors HEART HEALTH Month with Special Guest, American Idol Finalist– Danny Gokey!

The Balancing Act shares the personal story of Danny Gokey, an American Idol finalist who finished third last year, a former choir director, and founder of Sophia’s Heart Foundation. Sophia’s Heart Foundation is a charitable organization that helps mend and heal the hearts of children who have been touched by poverty, sickness, and disease. Make sure you tune into The Balancing Act Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:00am (ET/PT)—airing on Lifetime Television!

Sophia’s Heart Foundation was inspired by the life of an extraordinary woman whose love for children overflowed and touched the lives of countless others. Sophia was a very outgoing woman who, despite her heart condition, remained full of optimism, energy, and selflessness. During her vibrant and meaningful 27-years of life, she relayed the importance of meeting the needs of children emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.

Danny Gokey shares his own heartfelt thoughts about his beloved Sophia on the show. “After my wife’s passing, the mission began to develop her legacy, and to share the heart she possessed, through a living continual demonstration of her love.” Danny adds, “Sophia desired to be the mother of a large family. Although this was never realized in her lifetime, the love she had for children could not cease from existing. I felt the pressing need to pass along the love we felt for all children, and thus I had the vision for Sophia’s Heart Foundation. I hope the number of children we are able to reach through this vision will be larger than we ever imagined.”

CMSpin: Mr. Talkbox Hits The Stage In Nashville To Debute My Time

You remember “Mr. Talkbox”, right?! He played a couple of gigs with Danny some time ago and now his album is coming out on the same day as Danny’s.

Byron will have a CD release show on February 23rd and part of the proceeds of CD sales on that night will be donated to Sophia’s Heart. Sweet of him.

Byron “Mr. Talkbox” Chambers plans to take the stage by storm for his CD release show at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville, TN on February 23rd, giving the crowd a sneak peek performance of selections from his brand new album. My Time is slated to release March 2nd and features special guest appearances from MOC, Khristian Dently, and Canton Jones.

The newest member of GRAMMY-winner TobyMac’s Diverse City Band, the free show on February 23rd will be Chambers’ first solo performance since moving to the city.

“I am so glad to be in Nashville where musical dreams can come true,” says Chambers. “My family (wife and 3 kids) and I have been welcomed by so many great people here. I am overjoyed to share my talent here and I hope everyone can come and experience me as an artist. Many have seen me as a band member with TobyMac and NSYNC to name a few, but I feel like it’s my turn to step out of the back, into the front and share my music and story with Nashville and the world!”

My Time will be available for purchase that night, with a portion of the proceeds going to Sophia’s Heart, a charity founded by American Idol finalist and RCA Records recording artist, Danny Gokey. Existing to help mend and heal the hearts of children and families who have been touched by poverty, sickness, disease, broken homes and broken dreams, Sophia’s Heart is working towards establishing centers nationwide that combine Music and Arts in a technologically advanced, mainstream and culturally relevant manner, hoping to draw in children and youth and begin to address broader family needs.

Courage to Change

Many people feel that the Christmas holiday season is the best time of the year. However, after all is said and done, we are sometimes left with the
guilt of having eaten too much. What comes next? A new years resolution! I have been there many times with thoughts of “come January 1st, I will be a new man!”, only to fail just a week later!

Update: Another video of Danny, this time singing Christmas songs and making up lyrics. LOL! The sound is exploding so I guess the camera was near the speakers.

Two short videos of Danny at 4620 Reinvented, in Knoxville, TN (12/15/2009), on the fundraiser for Sophia’s Heart and for the United Way. I like him in black. :) Or any colour, really…

As we travel on this journey called life, we sometimes have to go through things that we don’t want to go through. We don’t choose these things, nor do we care for them. But, sometimes, unwanted situations are thrown into our laps. The question then becomes “what do we do?” Many of you reading this can probably think back a week, a month, or even a year, and recall difficulties that you have encountered. One’s that have made you feel as if you have been “set back”. However, it is an awesome thing when we can see a glimmer of hope in the midst of a tough situation, latch on to it, and build a new life.
