Tracy’s Recap: Danny Gokey at Best Buy (Orland Park, IL)

I had been planning on attending Danny’s CD release concert at Turner Hall in Milwaukee. I had a prior commitment that day and was not able to get downtown until 5:00 p.m. I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t make it in, but I had faith. My friend and I waited outside – the line was wrapped around several blocks – and we were told at 6:45 that the place was filled to capacity and that we were not going to be able to get in. There were at least 100 people in front of us, and several hundred behind. I was disappointed for myself and all the other fans (lots of little kids who wanted to see him, too!) but of course I was happy that Danny had such an amazing turn out that night (wasn’t at all surprised!). So my friend and I left disappointed, but such was life.

I am from Milwaukee – grew up on the north side like he did! – but now live just outside of Chicago. I had heard that he would be making the Best Buy appearance in Orland Park, which is about 45 minutes south of where we live. I hadn’t planned on going, but when I couldn’t get in to see him Saturday night I rearranged my schedule on Sunday and talked my husband into leaving Milwaukee early that day so I could try to get to the Best Buy appearance. Nina’s Recap: Danny at Best Buy (San Jose, CA)

I’ve had 3 failed attempts to see Danny in person before this. First 2 attempts were during the AI8 tour in Oakland and San Jose (was on vacation and unable to get back in time) and the 3^rd one was during his radio stint at 95.7 The Wolf (did not win a ticket and did not know that I could have still come even without a ticket). That’s why I was ecstatic when I found out through iHeart that Danny would be performing at Rodeo Club, San Jose and would be at Best Buy for a M&G on March 3^rd. San Jose is just about 45 min drive from home. My husband who’s a so-so Danny fan encouraged me to go for it, telling me to grab the opportunity while I can. It could be my last chance to see him up close before he starts performing in large arenas. It was also my chance to meet up with a fellow iheart lady, Marilyn. But when I tweeted KRTY, they sent me a DM  saying that the show is for 18 and over only and it starts at 9:30 pm and since my husband is working that night and I do not have a babysitter, it was a no go for me. My husband offered to call in sick that night though, “Just to make you happy”, he said. But as much as I was dying to see Danny I wouldn’t want him to do that. But I can surely go to Best Buy with my kids! Read more

Marilyn’s Recap: Danny Gokey at Rodeo Club (San Jose, CA)

My husband Bill and I drove down to the Rodeo Club in San Jose, CA, listened to Danny sing, stayed overnight and drove home the next day.

That’s the crux of it, but oh, in between those words lays a whole lot of living that was indecisive, scary, worried, bewildered, aggravating and marvelous, exhilarating, wonderful and fun.

When I found out at this site that Danny was going to be in San Jose, my heart started pounding because it’s just a few hours drive to San Jose and I knew it would be doable. I wanted to go so badly to see Danny. But I knew Bill would never let me go alone to the club/bar or drive that far and come back early in the morning.

Billie’s Recap: 102.5 KNIX’s New Country Throwdown – Danny Gokey concert

I found out from KNIX that in order to even be considered to be a part of Danny’s meet and greet I had to wear KNIX wear. My boss told me where to go and I picked up a shirt after work figuring that the chances were upped just a little bit. You saw the crowd from Brandon’s twitter pic – packed, probably 500 people – so what was the chances of little ‘ole me getting to meet Danny.

The bar was full when I got there around 6:15, I got a good spot by the dance floor and parked myself there thinking I’ve got a few hrs. to stand and people watch. I saw a few girls from church in the restroom and asked what they were doing there; their reply, “…to see Danny Gokey!” LOL I never know Stacie and Kerri were Danny fans too!

January 12, 2010 – One of My Best Days

Alright, so as you all may know, I won tickets by calling in to FM 106.1 in Milwaukee to see Danny.

I knew the night was going to be memorable because I actually followed Danny’s tour bus into the radio station’s parking lot. Bus pulled around back of station and, no, I did not pull around the back of the station to park by the bus LOL!

We went in the room where the concert was going to be held and anxiously awaited Danny. The band members came out first and then, the moment we were all waiting for, Mr. Gokey himself.

Danny’s voice sounded fabulous! The band was really into performing–all of their energy was high and the audience cheered and applauded loudly!
