Danny Gokey Is Getting in the Holiday Spirit with the Release of “Tennessee Christmas”

Nashville, TN – 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville recording artist Danny Gokey hails from Wisconsin, but living in Tennessee now may have given him a little extra incentive to record “Tennessee Christmas,” the holiday favorite first made famous by its co-writer, Amy Grant. Serviced to country radio last week and available to fans now as a digital single, the song is one that Danny was delighted to sing as the first holiday music he’s ever released.

“I love Amy Grant’s version of ‘Tennessee Christmas,’” Gokey says. By recording the song, Danny offers, “I wanted to add my own soulful country touch to this wonderful classic.”

The song is available for download at your favorite online music retailer, as well as on Danny’s site at www.dannygokey.com.

After co-hosting this past weekend’s online red carpet broadcast for the American Music Awards, Gokey is also a nominee for another award show – the American Country Awards – where he’s nominated in the category of Artist of the Year: Breakthrough Artist. It started out with a possibility and a prayer. Ive really wanted to see Danny it had been quite awhile since Turner Hall and had a ticket for summerfest but did not make it there. Anyway I knew months ago he was gonna be in Wisconsin for some shows but they seemed too many miles away for me and just did not feel like it would work for me as the time got closer I really wanted to go but was not sure if it would work for me! Then a few weeks ago RFkim75 sent a tweet to me about it and it sparked my interest..but wasnt sure if timing would work for me and if I had the cash to do it etc. So I decided to look and see if there were any seats and there was one left in the golden circle and I thought this is my golden ticket kind of like (Willie Wonka) lol so I purchased it and still was not sure about everything and if it would work out for me. Then a few days before the trip I got the ticket in the mail but still was not sure then it was like just do it GO dont worry about money or your job or anything just go I felt God had opened the door for me to go and so I tweeted Kim and said yes I wanna go! We worked out the details found out she lives only about 40 minutes from me and she picked up her friend Kristy too. It was a nice sunny drive shared lots of laughs about Danny! Kim had all his songs on her Ipod from Idol till now and we chatted getting to know each other and hearing Danny sing it was great we got to the hotel in 2 and a half hours made great time! and then just rested for a bit.

Then about 4pm we went to Buffalo wild wings and had lunch it was good! then we met iheartie fans at the city grille. it was so awesome when I met Cheryl (twitter name) @upsnodowns for the first time we recognized each other right away and hugged what a sweetheart she is! we go back to the beginning of iheart she is just so funny and cool! showed me her photo shopped pics! also TonicNY also hugged and chatted a bit. We shared laughs hugs and smiles at the table also Jenruditys was there nice to see her again Pam twitter names (pjgvet came late but did see her and karatemom) Cindy Jannworth and her daughter TonyaAm and RFKim75 Kim and her friend Kristy and some new fans I met that day very sweet girls! also saw mkeforyou Michelle later and chatted for a few minutes it was a great time of talking and sharing then we went over to the Grand Theater and Cheryl and her husband Ron drove us over there so nice of them as it was cold out. When we got there it was a big theater and tons of people were coming in it packed out quickly! Then most of the girls went to do meet n greets with Danny but because I was late in getting a ticket i did not get a meet n greet so Cheryl so sweet of her took my gift I got for Danny to the meet n greet to give to him (thanks girl! she said when she gave Danny my gift he said “Shes here where is she?”  so then I was hoping and praying I would get to meet him after the show! So I went into the theater and I had 2nd row seats which was a miracle being my tickets were bought so late but I lucked out cause someone cancelled so I sat in the second row..sat by myself cause I got my ticket too late but it was awesome waiting for Danny and his band to come out!! A choir sang first they were good and then

THERE HE WAS wow he came out a blazing and I was screaming at the top of my lungs!! he really fired up that crowd there were girls screaming and jumping around me too..he sang like thats a bad thing!! and then sang his other songs he usually sings and sang ones I have never heard him sing live- Raining on Sunday., Livin on a Prayer  and Tennessee Christmas awesome!! then at the very end when he was singing livin on a prayer he wiped his face with his towel cause  he was soooo sweaty and then I did not know he would do this but he threw the towel out into the crowd and I watched it as it was flying though the air kinda wondering where it was going and it literally turned towards me i was shocked I thought wow thats getting close to me and I reached out and GRABBED it I could not believe!! I caught his towel!! wow was that the coolest moment EPIC!! for me) never dreamed that would happen! and I just sat there shocked about it!! I was shaking from it anyway afterwards he did have a signing I was so happy cause I wanted to say HI to him and thank him for such a GREAT concert And also wanted to tell him I caught his towel!! so we waited till the end and then me and Cheryl went up there and I was getting like omygosh Im getting closer so I kind of hid behind her!! and all of a sudden he saw me omygosh I was like wow hes right there and he was smiling!! and said hi!! how are you?? and it was a GREAT concert and then pulled out the towel from my purse and said look I caught your towel!! I was sooo excited to tell him! and he said wow that soooo cool so that was you? Superscope you caught the towel and he put his hand up and gave me a high five I thought wow I just got a high five from Danny Gokey and he smiles and we talked a few more minutes !! I told him awesome show and congrats for all the things happening for him and thanked him for welcoming me back to twitter he just smiled and said sure I also had him sign the towel too but its in black marker so Im still trying to find his signature on it! thats taking awhile..I know its there cause I saw him to do it! LOL

I still cant believe it its like a dream and it all went by so fast!! then I wished him and his family a happy thanksgiving !! and then I was over getting a CD from Ivan Santiago and chatting with him a bit and they told me to come over because Danny was doing a group picture. So Tonic NY organized the group picture thanks sweetie! and then after that Danny was taking pictures from all the girls from the choir it was soooo cute watching him with his arm around each one! we watched him and smiled and chatted about it. Saw his father and sister they were there too that was cool. Then he was whisked away up the stairs and gone..

Wow what a moment with Danny he is truly the most sweet and genuine man!! what everybody says he is!! and more he takes time for each and everyone of his fans and makes us all feel truly so special for that moment of time however long it is you get with him it does not matter! It’s your moment and nobody elses savor it!

Thanks to RFKim75 for everything you did the driving getting the hotel and being such a sweet friend and to all the ihearties too you are all rock and to Danny Gokey thank you for the high five and the smiles! and the chat that night as I laid in bed trying to sleep I saw this beautiful magic carpet floating around me..the story of Aladdin came to my heart. it was like I went on a magic carpet ride for a few seconds with Danny! I was flying high and I thanked God for giving me that magical moment and for letting me catch that towel ..I never would have dreamed I would have caught it, but dreams do come true just ask Danny Gokey

In closing- Cant wait for the next time I get to see Danny again and I will! and who knows what I will catch next time: ))) maybe not his towel but I know I will catch one thing!!!! as we all do- an awesome time with Danny Gokey his band and another memory to hold in our hearts that will last a lifetime <3

I feel very, very lucky to have had some one on one (actually my family with his entourage before and after the show and I just wanted to share some stuff we talked about.

• Definitely, definitely keep voting and requesting.  His label is still pushing IWNSG and anything radio is hearing otherwise could be false information getting around.
• That being said he was very emphatic that no one stress about him, his radio play or otherwise.  Make sure you take breaks, have a life, etc.  His career will be what it’s meant to be.  Do your best, but don’t stress yourself out about doing too much or if it doesn’t go well one week.  He really doesn’t want his fans stressed out.
• He noted it in the video but wanted to reiterate he has some big news from Sophia’s Heart coming.
• The 36 shows does include what is on the site.  It’s not something new they are announcing, it’s just that’s the total number of shows he was doing this fall.
• On a personal note, he was so fantastic with my family.  My girls were pretty shy at first and he really tried to make them comfortable.  My husband and him hit it off.  At one point I was just listening to the two of them talk.  They were both standing across from one another with their arms crossed the same.  I was like, I could get used to this.  HA!
• And of course, a HUGE thank you for all the voting and requesting.
