Pictures: Live Nation Photos of Danny Gokey in Charlotte, NC
Wow, Kenny, you’re my new favorite photographer! Amazing shots!
Dude threw it down, and handed me plenty of rock star like poses on a silver platter, great energy, and a vocal presence that the Milwaukee native is the real deal. Photo’s after the jump.

Amy’s Recap: Danny Gokey with Tim McGraw Charlotte, NC
My recap won’t be too long as we only got two very short visits with him. At meet and greet before the concert my friends and I were standing mid-way through the line. I was pleasantly surprised when he recognized me, called out my name and waved as he came in. I know it’s such a small thing, but I will never tire of that. Once it was our turn, I was first up to get my hug. I said I know we’re not supposed to talk but I just have to thank you for doing the interview for the site with Erika and sending out the tweet. He went into how much he liked all the tabs for voting/requesting again. Mike came up and asked if I was taking too much time and Danny, said No! This is the owner of iheart. Mike said, “Oh! We love you guys you do an awesome job!”
I asked him about the next single and he said they’re deciding. He knows what he wants but asked me what everyone wanted. I said, “Well, I can tell you what I want…Crazy Not To.” He kinda of laughed and said that’s what he wanted to because he hasn’t done a romantic song yet. I REALLY hope that happens but it sounded like it was still up in the air. I didn’t have time to ask about the fall or winter tour. He mentioned again when I gave him the gift about us making him fat with all the food.
My friends got their pictures and Connie got hers and then all the sudden I remembered my friend and I had decided to get our arms autographed since we hadn’t brought anything. I already have several things autographed so I just hadn’t thought of it. Anyway, he was happy to do so except he had a hard time because I was so sweaty. It was RIDICULOUS hot out last night. I had sweat going everywhere! He took some time to keep going over the signature since it wasn’t writing well. Anyway, pretty sure the people behind us were probably getting irritated by then and we happily let them have their turn.

CMT Blog: Danny Gokey’s “I Will Not Say Goodbye” Inspires
Throughout my life, I’ve found many songs I can relate to, but rarely do they resonate with me as much as Danny Gokey’s “I Will Not Say Goodbye.” The lyrics, about not letting go of a loved one’s memory, are touching and emotionally hard-hitting, while the music video tells the stories of people who have lost a husband, a mother and a son. Having lost my father when I was 15, I’ve personally experienced the emotions in this ballad, written by Chuck Cannon, Lari White and Vicky McGehee after the funeral of the 13-year-old son of Nashville songwriter Jeffrey Steele. And I respect Gokey greatly for having the strength to sing it, especially considering he lost his 27-year-old wife, Sophie, in 2008. However, having a close friend or family member pass away doesn’t mean you can’t think about them anymore. “I Will Not Say Goodbye” inspires me to do just the opposite.

Students from Sophia’s Heart Music & Arts Program to Open for Danny’s 4th of July Performance at Summerfest in Milwaukee
Danny has this week’s most added single at country radio, with the poignant “I Will Not Say Goodbye” topping the most-added lists for Billboard and Country Aircheck stations quick to show their support for the powerful new ballad.
It’s an exciting week all around for Gokey, who’ll celebrate the 4th of July with a return to his Milwaukee hometown for a headlining performance on the final night of Summerfest. Billed as “The World’s Largest Music Festival,” the 11-day, multi-stage festival will feature Gokey headlining the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard Stage with an opening act close to his heart.
Milwaukee central-city school students participating in the after-school Sophia’s Heart Music & Arts Program – part of Gokey’s Sophia’s Heart Foundation – will showcase their talents, with the Sophia’s Heart Children’s Community Choir featuring 7th and 8th grade students, led by Music Director Jeff Krumbein, and the Sophia’s Heart Children’s Dance Team, led by Dance Instructor Val Young.
The Sophia’s Heart Music & Arts Program works to encourage students to live their dreams and provides a safe place for children to strive toward attaining their dreams through setting goals, discipline, and practice. ACCTop40 Review: Album Review: Danny Gokey, My Best Days
Newcomer Danny Gokey follows the footsteps of his fellow American Idol alums into the world of country music. Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington, Josh Gracin and Phil Stacey are just some of the names of those who found themselves in Nashville after their time on the popular reality show was up. Those artists have had varying degrees of success with their music outside of the Idol world. Now Season Eight’s third place finisher Gokey tries his luck with his debut album My Best Days which is available now.
For his first single, Danny chose to release the title track “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me,” a positive song which kicks off the album and is a good indication of what is to come as you listen. The majority of the 10-track set is up-to-mid-tempo and full of encouraging messages with spiritual undertones like “I Still Believe,” a contribution from the pens of Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and songwriter Mike Busbee. While “If Only,” co-written by Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood and writer Tom Douglas, shares a message of making a difference in people’s lives.

Gokey said he was sick the past five or six days, and hoped no one who hugged him would catch anything.
The sound was too loud for conversation beyond pleasantries, but Gokey showed a heavily tattooed woman a small tattoo on his right shoulder. To another who had ”Gokey’s Girls” emblazoned on her shirt, he said, ”Oh, I love your shirt.”
In an interview before the show, Gokey said he saw very little of the show this year, perhaps an hour all season. But he said he was aware of DeWyze, whose raspy, soulful voice and laid-back demeanor have gotten comparisons to Gokey.
Asked about that, Gokey said simply, ”Yes sir.”
Gokey did not perform. Grady and his band, Wailing Waters, gave an hourlong concert after the ”Idol” winner was announced.
