Morning Hearties
Mid week and we do have a television appearance for Danny, on the Outdoor Channel(???). We’ll take it!!
http://iheartdannygokey.com/index.php/2012/03/27/danny-gokey-to-appear-on-all-star-cast-outdoor-channel/
Video from the Vision Expo concert with a very large crowd at Dave & Busters. Lots of dancing (thanks Lurker)

Good Morning. That’s interesting that Danny will be making an appearance on the Outdoor Channel.
Any publicity right now is good publicity. Also, I’m looking forward to viewing the video at Dave and Busters. I have to admit I’ve never been there. Have a good Wednesday everyone.
Just an added note this morning. There is a good article on JSonline.com this morning regarding Danny.
It talks about him releasing his EP in late April with some country, contemporary and maybe a pop song on it. Also, he will be making an appearance with Joel Osteen around that time at National Parks in Washington.
Thanks, Paula. I just posted that one.
Interesting comments from Danny.
to the label shopping, hope that is the case.

Bring on the new label, Danny! I do not know how he will get radio promotion for his music without it… It would be cool if we did get 7 songs instead of the initially proposed 6 on the EP
I am copying a post I made late last night and bringing it to today’s page.
Some words or terms I don’t like: (I’m sorry my italics do not work. My smileys don’t work, and I no longer have symbols for quote, italics, etc. I have to type out manually anything I use. I don’t know what to type for italics.)
Problematic (as in “This issue could become problematic.” I prefer “This might be a problem.”)
Presh (as in “He’s so presh.)
LOL (when used to put someone down or make fun of someone’s opinion) When used to show one is making a joke, lol is good as it conveys clearer meaning. But used in a way to imply that a person is superior to the one they are mocking is irritating.
I am trying to guess what I need to type to use italics. I’ll type something and see if it works.
If it doesn’t work, I won’t be offended if someone types lol at me. It would be funny used that way.
I think I’m here alone though.
This is a test.
I failed on the first try. I’ll try again. (I am trying to write something in italics.)
:italic:This is a test.:italic:.
I failed again.
On the bright side, I think I typed the correct words for a frown. (My smiley symbols show. They just don’t work when I click on them. I can, however, see what to type when I put my cursor over a symbol.)
MJ put up a post about Danny’s EP.
I think it is something many singers would like to do: to put out music that includes the different kinds the singer likes. This is what Danny does in his concerts. He sings country, pop, rock, etc.; he sings songs he likes to sing. It seems to work really well from the videos I’ve seen. His audiences appear to love what he is singing!
Twitter: pjgvet
Lurker……….LOL
I will try bold too that I recall from another blog
I think we would all love music that is a variety and of course it is a truly talented person who can be so versatile.
But as the man himself said (in that strange interview….not so sure he should have said he was grateful to leave RCA……..they did a lot for him and country radio is used to being thanked no matter what. But who knows how they edited his comments…….he could have certainly qualified what he was ‘grateful’ for) to sell CDs you need radio play.
And a label.
And having a vague musical identity does not attract a label or radio play so………
ETA: Eh, I couldn’t get bold to work Lurker!
I agree about wishing Danny would be grateful to radio. I also wish his fans would be grateful to radio. For a new artist, Danny has had a lot of radio success. I wish he knew that and would thank radio more instead of talking about what he didn’t get.
I think it works better to show appreciation for that instead of showing regret that there wasn’t more. Some singers never get a label and never get on radio. Having a #22 song, a #32, and a #48 is good! I wish Danny could see that is good and quit looking at it as a negative because he wanted more.
I have read comments from some radio stations (about another artist) where the stations were irritated by fans complaining about the station not playing their singer enough. The comments from the DJs were that they were playing the singer a reasonable amount based on their guidelines and that they were expecting to play his next music as well. But the fans made them not want to play the singer at all (a country singer–I don’t remember which one).
If I won $100,000 when I was hoping to win a million, I would still consider myself as one who had good fortune.
Another country singer who expressed disappointment with his level of succes is Blake Shelton. Maybe Blake is happy with his success now, but a couple of years ago he wasn’t.
I read (in Country Weekly I think) an article about Blake saying that sometimes he thought about quitting, that he had been working hard many years (10 ?, 15 ?) and it seemed to him that he was just never going to break through to the next level.
I was surprised when I read that because I thought he was already successful–but apparently not as much as he wanted to be.
He also did an interview with Kix Brooks in which Kix was asking him about his engagement to Miranda. Blake talked again about not being at the point where he had hoped to be.
After that he won some awards and got the Voice job, so maybe he feels more successful now.
Danny has a nice speaking voice.
“You sound good out there, Vision Expo. You sound good. Give yourself a round of applause.”
(Vision Expo Link in first post today in case you missed it.)

Sigh. The usual haters at MJs on the JS online story. I knew as soon as I read Danny’s comments that they would be all over it
Commenting on his career path, ok fair game…but really…what is it in his personality that brings out the personal nastiness on their part?
If anyone wants to put in their intelligent honest supportive perspective…
http://www.mjsbigblog.com/danny-gokey-releasing-experimental-new-ep-in-april.htm
“The usual haters at MJs on the JS online story”
I saw that, Pam. Your comment was great–the first positive one, I think.
I hope Danny has the last laugh. He has already done better than they predicted.
Danny puts on a good show. People at his concerts have fun.
Danny might make more money selling 15,000 self-produced EPs than he could make selling 200,000 for a label. The “usual haters” probably think he won’t sell even 500. I’m hoping for more. It may be only a couple of thousand, but I wish he would surprise the haters with bigger numbers.
I hope the different fan bases he has will be reached. That was a reason, I think, that MBD didn’t go gold. I believe Danny had enough fans at that time to sell that many, but too many fans were not aware of what Danny was doing and that he had an album out.
I wonder if the EP will come in a physical form and if it will be available at stores and in different countries. Danny may not be able to get all that done without a label.
Danny has an up coming fishing episode on the Outdoor Channel? I think my dad watches fishing and hunting on that channel, and Danny if you happen to read this come to New York and fish on Oneida Lake! Walleye season opens up May 5th! I would love Danny to go fishing with my dad and I, you know what I am saying…
One of the MJ hater comment belows: (I don’t get angry about these anymore. I think they are funny. Maybe haters are worried that Danny will do better than someone they like so they ridicule him to try to make others feel he isn’t someone they should buy?)
I think Danny’s EP is a great idea. New music. New music that his fans will probably like. He’s not making it for the haters anyway.
Was she ever included in? Is there any music Danny could have made that would have turned this person into a fan?
I believe many of these negative posts might have been made by people who don’t like Danny– never have, never will. Possibly they are irritated because they wanted (and were sure) that Danny would have to go CCM. CCM is the box they want to put him in. Danny doesn’t like boxes.
Danny has more than one shirt. I’m not worried about him showing up naked anywhere.
Lurker, lol. It is such a tragedy you don’t post at mj’s

Bold and Italic wise, you can just use the letters b and i and put them between brackets in the front, and brackets in the back with a backslash inside the bracket before the letter.
bold test italic test
Or you can always use the word strong instead of b, and em (for emphasis) instead of i
strong test emphasis test
By brackets I mean this “<” and then the opposite bracket

from Jan
I wanted to comment that I agree 1000% with you. I wanted Danny to thank RCA, to thank his fans and to promise us he would delight us with his next project.
I think he will. But for a man that tweets about gratitude ALL the time— he has not been good about expressing it to those that have been in his corner.
And even if he is mad at RCA, and they didn’t treat him like we would have liked, he needs to understand that he benefited from that life experience and he should be grateful for the knowledge (that I hope) he gained.
Jan will now step off of her soapbox…..
Twitter: jannworth
Steph, I can’t get the italics to stop up above. I put a greater sign then an i and then a lessor sign before the first word and at then after the last word of the paragraph. Where was I suppose to put the backslash????
Twitter: jannworth
Ok, I thing I have some clue of how it works. Not perfect, but hey….
Thanks, Steph!
Jan,
Thanks for understanding!
I think it just works better to put a positive spin on such events.
Other events too. If a person is caught (maybe at a grocery store) not looking her best, don’t call attention to it! Smile. Act confident and beautiful anyway. The person you ran into may not notice your blouse was tacky because they are so dazzled by your smile and charm. If they do notice the tacky blouse (or whatever), they probably don’t care.
Jan, the slash goes inside the first bracket of the closing tag.
left-bracket b right-bracket your bold text goes here left-bracket forward-slash b right-bracket
correction from below: I meant forward slash, not backslash. Like this /
b
i

And welcome back Erika

Twitter: jannworth
Where is Erika??? I don’t see Erika
Twitter: jannworth
Thanks for the special tutoring session on bold, and italics, Steph. I’ve missed them
Twitter: jannworth
Lurker, I’ll try to remember your advice of not drawing attention to our flaws. But instead to go for the real depth instead.
Erika?
Steph thinks Erika is real. Steph has magic powers to see one others cannot see.
I remember Erika, a beautiful princess who once roamed these pages (and who smiled with Danny into the same camera at the same time while it clicked), but I have not seen her myself in many moons.
She appears only to Steph.
Erika slipped back in
and posted the Hollywood Reporter article this morning
But it would be nice to see Erika vs. the
sometimes
next tip is if you want to do a quote, just put “blockquote” in the same tag format as for the bold and italic, instead of the “b” or “i”
Twitter: jannworth
i remember when we had all these fancy features….. w/o typing them
Twitter: pjgvet
Welcome back Erika, hope you had a great time!!!!

Lurker, I do have to lol (aside- I think ‘lol’ can be either a sincere laugh, or a sarcastic
laugh-in reference to your comments earlier. I guess there is no official sign to differentiate them- perhaps ‘snicker out loud’ would be better? But SOL is usually S**t out of luck- LOL!) at the person at MJs who said ‘count me out’. Like anyone EVER bothered to count her in? They’ve been a hater from day one. And I think perhaps some of the renewed hate there may be because their S8 Idols- Adam and Kris aren’t going gangbusters. Pretty transparent, otherwise why put the effort into even reading and commenting about someone you don’t like? LOL

Jan, I agree with your above comment- I really wish someone was intelligently previewing Danny’s statements before he makes them….I don’t think the wife or friends are enough. He is a guy with a very big heart who wishes no one ill will; but that doesn’t always come through in statements -whether written or verbal that he makes.
Sometimes it is very difficult to defend some of his statements/the interpretation of them- but I can’t help myself, I still try
But enough focus on haters jumping on his interview….I am happy to hear maybe 7 songs on the EP? It will be interesting…….
And a celebration for the second graduating family
Or even someone reading here so that he can have an idea if fans like or dislike something…
Not as good as previewing, but it might help some for the next time. I know I wrote a lot about being grateful to radio previously.
I think a good way to work with radio is to thank the ones who do play you and be gracious to the ones who don’t.
Twitter: .
But I think reading any fan board can be dangerous for an artist. Part of the critcism I have seen today has hinged on the comment Danny made about seeking fans opinions. The best way fans voice can be heard is with the purse strings .
One does have to wonder how much of that interview ended up on the cutting room floor, I have gotten to the point that I find it hard to read them because I wonder what was left out
Twitter: pjgvet
I don’t think there is anything wrong with seeking fan’s opinions…..but about the kind of music you should sing? How in the world will he know what people like anyway, beyond the few that gush on Twitter? His hardcore fans will buy it anyway…will he have any PR in place to even make others beyond them aware it is out?
I think Twitter parties would be great like other Idol’s do-that would be the time for opinions, not stating publicly you are putting different genres on an EP and want to know what fan’s like best…..Probably not what he meant (he was probably just saying he’s trying to please fans and show his versatility- I do agree interview sound bites can be misleading DaniP)…but that is how it comes off to most, I think…
After all, we all want him to get resigned by a label who believes in him as an artist
I also agree too much listening to fans can drive one crazy…after all there are a lot of different opinions and you can’t please everyone. That is why he has to think hard, and reach inside himself for what is the true artist he wishes to become…not how famous, or what kind of mission he is on, but exactly what he wants the music of Danny Gokey to sound like, convey, and make people feel.
And that is this music fan’s opinion….that he should or should not be listening to

Good night everyone.
Lurker
You’ve got it

Twitter: jannworth
Good job at MJs, Pam. We
you for it. G’night.
Twitter: jannworth
I don’t think the interview captured the sweet/gracious person we know Danny to be. But, a little redoubling of his efforts on thanking those that help him on this earth, would be a good thing. (I do think Danny does a fine job of thanking God–from what he tweets.)
Twitter: jannworth
I missed the blockquotes, too
Twitter: .
Good morning
Boring day yesterday, huh???
I honestly dont think the general masses care, just like they dont watch the charts.
I think Danny does have a vision about his music and I have heard him express them only to be shot down. Its a part of being a celebrity but also becomes very confusing when you are trying to make a commercial product.
This EP will be Danny’s chance to have his say and it will rise or fall on the quality of the music and he will have to own it.
Good Morning all. Interesting discussion yesterday. Danip- I agree with you about Danny’s EP. I’m assuming the music he will put out on this EP is what he wants to convey to his fans. It sounds like it will be more versatile than just country. I hope he surrounded himself with good collaborators because a lot of the mainstream music has been successful because of who the artist has worked with. I saw that Lionel Richie has a new cd out this week that is mostly country. So, I guess there may be something to going in that direction. I would think that Danny knows enough people in the music industry to get some good advice, but we will see. Have a good day everyone.
I saw a video on CMT or GAC last night with Lionel singing one of his old songs with Shania Twain.
He didn’t sound remotely country nor (as far as I noticed) did the song production.
Shania did sound country, it blended ok with Lionel.
But it looked to me as if they had spliced in one of Shania’s old videos with Lionel singing and she was doing a totally different song that didn’t remotely lip-synch with what she was supposed to be singing with Lionel. Weird
Twitter: jevjos
About Blake he left Nashville at one point because it was so bad for him and moved back to Oklahoma where he’s from. I see him alot of times trying to help out other artists-like Danny who are struggling to get their music out there and he relates to them a bit.
NCC sends out survey’s for multiple songs for any artists to see which one works the best. Not just them but this never happened for Danny I always wondered why. There’s a few things that could’ve been dealt differently for better results. But as long as he does music that he’s comfortable with and that the fans like he’ll be just fine, just not all over the charts which is something that isn’t required for him to do music. More success is more options though.
Attention Ihearties. I am leaving IHeartDannyGokey.com. I feel offedened someone removed my post from last night about me telling about the Outdoor Channel thing. I will always admire Danny but I do not think I am wanted on here anymore. Goodbye and Sorry.
Jamie,
Your 6:30 post from last night is still showing on this page (up above). It is between two of my posts at 5:31 and 6:59.
I read in an aol article that Kenny Chesney got drunk and phoned Lionel Richie to ask (or beg ?) Lionel to let Kenny be on his duets album with him.
I guess Lionel said yes. I think they have a duet on the album.
I read that Lionel had a long list of stars that wanted to be on his album, and that he is planning to do another duets album that will bring in some other performers.
I appreciate Lionel for being so sweet to Danny. Lionel has had much success and works with many stars, but he took time to be kind and helpful to Danny (and also to say good things about him).
Twitter: pjgvet
Hi Jamie-
I read your post last night about you and your dad fishing and thought how fun that would be if you did get to fish with Danny
I still see it there today also……….
Maybe there was a glitch with your computer or you just didn’t see it in amongst the rest of our random rambling……………
I (along with others) enjoy your input.
I wonder if the kids backing track will be similar to what Danny did in Manitowoc with I Still Believe?
Twitter: jannworth
Jamie, if anyone would be edited it out, I think my ramblings would be more likely than your concise post
(PS. Haven’t we all had images of Danny joining us in every day things? Not going to happen for me, but it does bring a smile to my face imagining it.)
Pam, I am guessing that the I Still Believe will be one style of music. I enjoyed the kids trying out different styles with Danny, but I would be very surprised if it would be like that on the video…..
Jamie, I sent you an email. The 6:30 post was not edited, nor as far as I know was anything else. If there was a second post, perhaps the spam filter ate it
It’s extremely rare that we edit any comments at iheart for content. I can’t remember offhand moderating any in the last six months or more. Only Erika, Amy and I have the ability to delete anyone’s posts, other than the original poster themselves.
Twitter: .
Hey Jamie
I’m sure if you are not seeing your post that it is just a glitch. I know our beloved admin had an issue earlier this week seeing any posts.
I see from the twitter feed that the country blogs are starting to pick up the EP article
Twitter: jannworth
I miss seeing Danny performing with Matt and Justin. And Ivan and Mike. And Def.
At least we’ve seen Brandon on the cruise
I’m still having a quirk in the admin tool with it backdating to several days ago when I reload the page of comments. I have to click one of the tab options to get the true list of recent comments. Weird.
Not sure if Erika
is having the same trouble or not
Glad to see one of the country blogs picking up the EP item, but
to the photo choice
http://gotcountryonline.com/?p=15165
Twitter: jannworth
About the photo, Steph, at least they brought back the plaid—even if Danny hasn’t in awhile
But truth to be told, I sure could live without the “beating a dead horse” statement

Twitter: mrbingfordannyg
Glad about the EP.So it’s not just country?
Twitter: pjgvet
Mr. Bing, I think the EP will have some country, perhaps an ‘urban’ (rap?) song and probably adult contemporary (soft rock type)…but that is just my guess.
Lol at that old Idol pic. Mr. Gokey had more meat on his bones then.
Although I should talk…..with all the training, I am starving all the time and have more meat on mine lately

Hi everyone!

Nice to read your posts. I also think Danny is a versatile singer. So, it is good of him to record different genre.
Happy Day!
I wonder if Danny has decided no radio tour and no single released to radio.
If I could tell Danny what I want him to do (well…I can and do tell him here all the time, but I don’t think that counts
), I would tell him he should have kept on at working country radio. A lot of country radio did like him. (I still hear a station ID blurb with several stars saying “This is ——-” with various big-name stars saying their names. Danny is included.)
Some stations were nice to Danny. I was hoping this interview would not get a lot of attention. I don’t want Danny burning bridges.
I want, I want, I want… Yeah, I am thinking about what I want (and what I don’t want).
(at myself)
Declan,
Happy Day to you also!
