Good Morning
Feb 17th already!! this year is moving fast.
Danny tweeted yesterday that he was in the studio
Can’t wait to ohear what he comes up with
Our super sleuth hearties also found a promo card for the DG eyeglass line
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150577000233402&set=a.435327983401.223265.157463643401&type=1&ref=nf
Leyicet also tweeted about the line.
Wonder what today will bring
Yay the weekend is here.
Not much planned, but it is always nice to be away from work. Since I have not been watching idol, how many people are left? I wonder when Danny will announce his next song. If he is recording, are we to assume he will be shopping the song around when completed? So many questions…. Have a good friday all.

Bringing over Sue’s post to comment on from last night:
“Hi all. haven’t been here for a little while. question for the cruisers – I read something about Danny appearing at the Joel Osteen’s night of hope in d.c. 4/28. Does anyone know any more about this? That morning is the half marathon in Nashville. thanks!!!”
Hi Sue
Yes, he will appear that evening at the Night of Hope in Washington DC with Joel Osteen.
Yes, the Marathon is that morning, so he will be unable to run in it
Unfortunate schedule conflict- I know some runners were looking forward to racing past him
Not me of course
just want to crawl across the finish.
In the studio, hmmmm- it will be very interesting to see what Danny comes up with sans Label.
Will it be Country? Will it be gospel/soul/salsa/pop/rap/country
I am excited/interested to see what comes forth
Another beautiful day here- 40 and
Have a good one everyone!

Some of us have been theorizing that Danny has been calling in his musical friends for the EP songs Byron Chambers (Mr Talkbox), Brandon, maybe Ivan? It would be nice if Mr Gokey tweeted a studio pic out…for more clues….. He does seem inspired. Do you think some of our ihearties scared/motivated him on the Cruise?
I am hoping for motivating. Scared is not a good thing. Love The line of glasses coming out. And Leyicet calling Danny hubby so cute. So now we have wifey and hubby. Pam you will make I know you will. Did not watch AI last night I am a very bad Grandma I almost forgot my grandson’s birthday yesterday. If it wouldn’t have been for my daughter calling me and asking me asking if Friday is his birthday I would have been in the doghouse again. Very glad Danny was in the studio yesterday maybe he will be in there again today. Well better get to work.
Everyone have a great Friday.
I think Danny is #6. (Direct link below.)

Oh my gosh I just found a website for a restaurant in Seattle that specializes in Wisconsin and Minnesota food! Yes, they have cheese curds, lol. I found it because a thread about pizza on a Seattle restaurant blog caught my eye. I think I have mentioned to you all before that I really miss the kind of pizza I grew up on in Ohio, it does not seem to exist out here. This place was mentioned as having “Minnesota” style pizza, the kind with thin crust that is cut in squares. I wonder if it really is like Donato’s, I have hopes peeps!
. It is only about 2 miles from where I work, I might stop in there this evening,
Nice recap Jan, thank you!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Oh wow, they have a dessert called “Twinkie misu”!
Josie, I want a report about the “Minnesota pizza.” Personally, I think East Coast pizza is best. There is a particilar kind in my hometown that I have never found anywhere else.
Not sure whether Ohio would be East Coast or Midwest. It was torture living in the Midwest, as far as finding decent pizza goes.
The West Coast is a mixed bag. There is a place in my current town that is very, very good. Hmm. I’m getting hungry!
Twitter: jannworth
Hmmm.. is somebody not lovin’ Midwest Pizza? Every place has good and bad pizza. I think I had the worse pizza ever at the original Pizza Uno in Chicago when Leah talked me into broccoli pizza….
Josie, thanks for the compliment on the recap
. Hopefully your job will allow you to run away to a fun event soon. And Danny has some for us to go to…..

Twitter: .
Ohio is like no mans land, neither Midwest nor East. The Rust Belt more commonly know as the East Central
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
I picked up a “Minnesota pizza” on the way home, and I’m sitting here eating it now. It’s good, I like it. It’s not the same as the “Ohio pizza” I am thinking of, but I like it better than the other pizzas I have had out here.
Danip, do they have Donato’s where you are? I know they have them in central and southern Ohio, and in a few surrounding states. When I visit my sister that is always a big treat.
I wonder how many of you ordered pizza for dinner tonight?
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Here’s the website of the place. If any of you Wisconsin/Minnesota peeps ever come out to visit me and get homesick for fried cheese curds, we can go here.
http://zaydabuddyspizza.com/
I didn’t get any pizza, but I am hungry for it! Bad Josie, for making me crave something that’s bad for me, but oh so yummy!

Hello everyone!!!
Jan, thank you for the recap and pics. I enjoyed reading it.
Josie, I
pizza though I was able to taste only few flavors of pizzas.
God bless everyone!

Hi Ellen
Twitter: .
Morning
Josie, they sell the Donato’s pizza in the grocery store here.
Ohio is a funny state in the fact that it takes on the characteristics of the state on its border. When you travel through the state it basically becomes split in to 4 parts ~ the south, the midwest, the big east, the deeper south. Sometimes it is hard to tell an Ohioan
See Danny ,we need some more studio news
Good Morning all. Thanks to all the ihearties for the great recaps about the cruise.
I was thinking of having pizza yesterday also, but decided on a fish fry. I grew up on thick crust pizza, but my husband likes thin crust. So, I’ve adapted both ways. It’s supposed to be another mild week in Milwaukee. I can’t believe March is almost here. WIsconsinites have been very lucky to have had such a mild winter. As i’m writing this, there is Danny on my tv! Have a good Saturday everyone.
Twitter: pjgvet
Josie, that menu was fun!
The owner must have lived in Duluth- he talked about hanging out at Perkins on Lake Superior. I did my undergrad in Duluth and Perkins was a very regular late night hang out after the bars (drinking age was 19 back then).
And lol at the “you betcha” comment in the menu
The only real unique WI stuff I saw on there was Bratwurst, cheese curds and beer battered fish fry. Maybe the green olive/cream cheese burger? I’ve had those here on the East side, didn’t realize they were a WI thing.
I haven’t found any pizza as good as our Milwaukee pizza
I didn’t know that it is considered “Minnesota” (never had good pizza the 8 years I was in MN)- I always thought of it as MIlwaukee style- very thin crust with very flavorful sauce and not skimpy on toppings or cheese. And cut in small square pieces because of the thin crust. There are no chains that serve it- only small pizza business (there are a ton of them!). We don’t have Donatos here. My favorite is Balistreris-along with the fried eggplant. I was very disappointed in New York with the pizza-they are famed; but perhaps I didn’t have the right place. I don’t like pizza where a big part of it is soft crust, although thick crust Chicago STyle is good on occasion.
Heading to work today. Wanting pizza
Looking forward to your recap Jan!
Twitter: jannworth
Hi Declan, thanks for commenting on my recap. You know, it’s the only “compensation” we get for writing
(Anyone denote my Catholic guilt attempt coming out in that comment…)
Actually, I do like looking back on my recaps. I’ve never been a person that writes a journal (Danny said on the cruise that he doesn’t keep a journal either— see another cruise tidbit that is still coming out of my memory banks.) I’ll admit, I did “rush” this one. Not in being timely, but in what I included. So much going on in my life, it was hard to take the time to put anything together.
I should have remarked how much I loved hearing Danny and Matt sing the Idol songs: Too Hard to Handle and Don’t Stop Believing, and Danny singing “Dream On”. I can tell I need new Danny music, when I am happier for the covers and not his original music
Twitter: jannworth
Pam, the Pizza Uno Pizza was awful for a multitude of reasons. The crust was a cornbread type
, it had very little cheese, and tomato sauce and broccoli just don’t go together in my opinion….
Off-topic:
Hugh Laurie concert dates are starting to appear if anyone is interested. The list is not complete. Dates started coming out a couple of days ago. Two or three show up at a time.
On-topic:
Will someone please put up a long list of concert dates for Danny.
(No, Danip. Don’t make up fake dates.
. I want real ones. Use your Danny magic and send him a message.)
Question:
How does one go about scheduling concerts? If I become a big singing star overnight, what will I do. I don’t know where to start.

I’m really worried about this. I need to be prepared.
Hi everyone , my computer been down I just wanted to tell you I had dinner with Danny and leyicet on the cruise. I had a nice time his wife is so sweet she was telling about her love for cats . She show me a picture of her new kittten. Danny was also talking about his new music he was so excited. I can not wait to see him again. It was so nice seeing everybody again.
Hi, Janice,
I am happy for you that you had a good time on the cruise.

“- Santiago de Chile (Chile): June 12th, 7 pm – Casa Piedra”
Anyone up for a concert rendevouz?
Always wanted to go to Chile. They have good wine
Lurker, you will have to give a report after you see Hugh in Moscow

Hi Janice
Glad you had fun on the cruise
Heading to Winterfest-sponsored by WMIL-only $5 to see Brent Anderson, The Farm, Andy Gibson and Glorianna.
I really love Gorianna’s new single “Kissed you Goodnight”
That is the type of songs I wish Danny will put out- uptempo, fun, mildly romantic, energetic and poppy.
Have a great Saturday night everyone!
You too!
Twitter: jannworth
Hi Janice. I am glad you had a delightful dinner with D and L on the cruise. Leyicet has been sharing pictures of her black and white cat—Mr. Wigglesworth. Did Danny describe much about his new music? I hadn’t heard he talked about it. I know on Thursday night it was not a dinner topic.
Josie, I caved in and got a slice of Straight From New York pizza for lunch. Nowhere near as good as in New York. Pam, what blasphemy! What you are describing in New York IS pizza! And what you describe as good Milwaukee pizza is what I disparagingly refer to as St. Louis-style pizza. To me it tastes like someone smeared a bit of sauce and cheese on a cracker. Ughh! Guess it’s what you are used to to. My version of classic thin-crust pizza is triangular, with a light, airy, and chewy crust on the end that is thick enough to pick up and shovel it into your mouth. There’s also an interesting thick crust (but also light and airy in a different way), rectangular pizza that is native to my area of PA.
Janice, if there is anything you want to share about your dinner with Danny, we’re all ears!
But no pressure! (Seriously!)
Pam, let us know what you thought of the artists at Winterfest. Brent Anderson opened for Danny in San Jose. Thought he was a real snoozefest. But The Farm, who opened for Danny is Portland, was great. The Farm is a trio. Sounds very country, but in a good way. They are talented musicians, good singers, good performers, lots of energy and charisma. Liked them a lot.
Hi Declan.
Hope you are doing well.
Are we all ready for some new Danny Gokey music? So glad he tweeted he was in the studio the other day. I’d like to lock Danny in an ivory tower for a while. Instead of a key, he’d need new
to get out of jail and pass “GO.”

Good Sunday morning to you guys

You know what? I had the greatest dream last night, in my dream Danny was playing with the full band, in my highschool gymnasium. Ofcourse, I was front and center, carrying a sign saying “Danny, you are a dream come true!” (awww) When I look around, I saw you, Jan, yes you! I was looking for Toni, coz I know you often travel together, but she’s not there
I introduced myself to you and stick with you the whole time, like you were a long lost friend
Sorry, Im babbling, but it was a great dream, that I would love to be a reality
Happy to hear about some Danny news from the cruisers and some from recent tweets. I hope his eyewear line would be a hit, I wear glasses too, and I can’t imagine how awesome it would be to wear one from his line
Jan, thanks for another great recap, lol at the list of questionnaires
Have a great day everyone!!!!
Good Morning everyone. Des- nice to hear from you. I am really curious what music Danny is recording in the studio. Is it a song that we know? I agree Pam, I hope it is upbeat, not melancholy. I did watch a good portion of Whitney Houston’s funeral. I really liked Kevin Costner’s speech. He is still handsome to me. Another nice, sunny day in Milwaukee, I may do a little shopping today. Have a good Sunday all.

“Will someone please put up a long list of concert dates for Danny.”
Lurker, that and Ellen’s “request” for new music is my wish, too!!!
“When I look around, I saw you, Jan, yes you! ”
Des, that is just the sweetest thing for you to say
I love meeting Danny fans. Especially those of you that have become friends on iheartdannygokey.com
I hope your dream comes true someday (Except about the part of Danny playing in a high school…..)
Off to church and hang with my daughter

Morning everyone. Another nice day today. All this talk about pizza made me really hungry this morning. I love thin crust. I grew up 1 block away from a little store front pizza place. You could only take pizza out. There pizza was all thin crust. And it is still there after more then 50 years. A mom and pop place that got handed down to the kids. My brother comes down from Fond du Lac and get the par-baked pizza and takes it home with him. I sure hope March does not come in like a lion. We sure have been lucky this winter.
Guess I will get on the band wagon and ask for new music too !!! Have a great day everyone.
Twitter: .
Morning all!!
Des Glad to see you back, hope you are feeeling better.
Danny in the studio, check! New music on the horizon, check !
Twitter: pjgvet
Good morning everyone; missed church-out too late last night
Paula, I used to just love Kevin Costner too
Hi Des and Declan
“To me it tastes like someone smeared a bit of sauce and cheese on a cracker. ”
Ah, you haven’t had really good Milwaukee pizza-there are a million small business pizza places. The crust is not like a crispy cracker- it has substance; is very tasty, not hard-but not doughy. I guess I like my pizza to not be about bread- but to be about the toppings-good sausage, good tomato sauce (that is the key and makes the pizza for me) and of course good WI cheese

My family has moved to Georgia, Virginia and Arizona and they mourn pizza- I guess people think Pizza Hut, etc is good pizza there
Ellen, I will have to give NY pizza another chance some day; only tried it once there – my sister wasn’t impressed the last time she went also- but I’m sure they have their top pizza places-I know they are renowned for it. Now; the Deli we went to on Times Square
Best Rueben sandwich ever!
Hey Pam, How about Sammy’s Pizza in West Duluth. All time favorite in Duluth!! Thin crust, great sauce, toppings of your choice and cut into little squares!!!
I am still lurking here, but I too, would like Danny to do some upbeat, fun songs. I think people are tired of the melancholy, and after his marriage he should have alot to be upbeat about!!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Hey there Grandmaster, good to see you again.
I just love it that pizza is one of those things that inspires strong opinions, kind of like music! Nostalgia is a big part of it I think. My personal “mom and pop” neighborhood place was Terita’s in Columbus Ohio. It’s still there. Similar to Donato’s. Danip, I am jealous that you can get it at the grocery store there! You can buy LaRosa’s pizza from Cincinnati over the Internet and have it mailed with dry ice, I hope Donato’s is next.
Happy Sunday everyone!
Twitter: pjgvet
“How about Sammy’s Pizza in West Duluth”
Hi Grandmaster-so nice to hear from you
I will definitely have to check that out when we go next! When I was in college I was poor (semantics Danny- a pig is a pig, lol) so we rarely ate out. The only places I really went were Perkins, Coney Island, lol. My boyfriend at the time worked at Coney Island (so ate free when I could handle it) for Gus-the colorful Greek guy; I used to tutor his daughter a little because she broke her leg and was out of High school; but she was a smart cookie; didn’t really even need it
I have felt nostalgic for Duluth since Danny’s tweet about selling his blood. We did that on a regular basis during college up there-you may recall how depressed the economy was back in the early 80′s- no jobs for college kids even at McDonalds. So everyone sold their plasma. And my friends were still doing it in grad school in the Twin cities.
But Duluth has done an excellent job making the city a tourist destination- they took out the strip/pole dancing ‘men’s social’ club, Ginos pizza on the harbor and made it a beautiful, very well done area of restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions. We love it; my business partner goes every other year. I wonder if they still have Grandma’s saloon and the annual huge Grandma’s marathon
If you live close, I’d recommend checking out Duluth, MN for beauty and fun. Especially if you are into nature.
OK, So OT and such a commercial interlude
, we are advertising Hugh Laurie concerts and Duluth, MN
Danny, we want to advertise your concerts
My next post will be about the concert last night.
I saw The Farm when they opened for Danny on the Boo Cruise in Portland, Oregon. So I have been interested in what Pam thinks. She saw them last night at some FM106 event — Winterfest? (What is Winterfest, anyway? How does it compare to Summerfest?) Anyway, I REALLY liked The Farm. So I started following them. I sent out this tweet, which The Farm retweeted to their followers (all 1,000 of them, lol, but you gotta start somewhere).
@PJGvet @kupl @FM106 What I like about @TheFarmMusic is that they sound fresh & different, a breath of fresh air, just like @dannygokey.
As you can see, I included my local radio station (KUPL) and the Milwaukee one (FM106). Both have had The Farm out for concerts, so I hope they give them radio play. But my point is that (although The Farm sounds nothing like Danny), both acts are a breath of fresh air for country music lovers who listen to country radio. Wish they would get it in their pea-sized brains that they could gain new listeners if they play a wider and more diverse variety of country music. Most current listeners are fans of the artists they currently play, and will continue to listen (especially if they keep up the bribery of concert tickets, etc.). But how many new listeners could they attract if they played a wider variety?
Hi, Des! Hope you are taking good care of the newest little One (besides baby Danny, who is too cute for words).
Josie, bet you never imagined the conversation you were going to start up with your mention of pizza!
Pam, next time I’m in Milwaukee, I’ll expect you to show me the best pizza the city has to offer!
Kathy(Milw), most of the pizza joints in my hometown area (where I grew up in PA) are like that: you order and take the pizza home, rather than eat-in. Most are just hole-in-the-wall joints, but make yummy pizza. The first time PizzaHut came to our area, it had a really hard time attracting business. There are still a lot of mom-and-pop pizza joints, but not as many as when I was growing up. The children of the proprietors are going to college and moving away from the area (which has been economically depressed for the past 50-75 years).
Yes Pam, Grandma’s Saloon is still here, as well as the Marathon every summer. The last few years there has been fewer runners though, partially because of the amount of marathon’s across the states.
We also have a Grandmas Restaurant adjacent to the Miller Hill Mall. We have lived here since 1969, and only wish there were more good jobs, so kids finishing college could remain in the area. Duluth is a beautiful place to live and to raise children! I have always wondered why Danny didn’t do a concert in Duluth?
Hi to you Josie, I have enjoyed reading all the comments and reviews following Danny’s concerts and cruises….
Grandmastar, my corner of NE PA has the same problem as Duluth: not enough good jobs. Kids go to college, then leave (as I did). But it was and is a good place to raise kids. People put down roots and stay. Very solid neighborhoods, where the neighbors know each other and feel like extended family. I miss that.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Grandmaster, I hope that many more reviews will soon be coming!
Ellen, I am not that surprised that pizza is a topic that generates interest. People just love it. When we get tired of talking about pizza, maybe we could do a round of “best ice cream ever”, that’s another good one.
Twitter: jannworth
So, I would guess that Danny was at Oasis today and then off to spend time with a young couple from church per this:
The Danny and Eddie featuring Mattie show. @dannygokey @_________ http://instagr.am/p/HNfZwMnXcD/
Or is this too personal? She did tweet the picture to the world…..
Twitter: pjgvet
“I have always wondered why Danny didn’t do a concert in Duluth?”
I know; has he done any concerts at all in Minnesota? He seems to have gone back to some places and missed others. WI is understandable; but he seems to have hit PA and especially Florida in a disproportionate way. I know RF Kim has complained about no MN concerts.
Josie, Ice Cream will be another hot topic, lol. Of course I vote for Kopps-my favorite is not Danny’s (caramel cashew).
Ellen, The Farm was very good as you already found out from my tweet. Also enjoyed Glorianna a lot. The Farm had a fiddle player that was very good and great harmonies. Glorianna was also very entertaining and I love their single Kissed You. They played a lot of covers though, interesting. Lead male singer has a good voice I think and had a nice stage presence.
I compare these acts to Danny because they are kind of entry to low mid acts. Danny is certainly a better singer (especially compared to Andy Gibson, sorry) and has a much more energetic act I thought. Danny just needs the right material, I think; and someone who knows how to develop and promote him.
There were 1100 people there; not that large of a showing for a four national act concert that was only $5- on a Saturday night.
Winterfest was just the name FM106 gave to their sponsored event-no relationship to Summerfest at all. And held at a microbrewery/restaurant/bar. People hung outside by the firepits, even though it was about 20 degrees, lol.
Twitter: pjgvet
Jan; someone tweets a pic publicly and links to a celebrity’s Twitter account?
Completely fair game and appropriate to post, IMO.
Cute baby.
Cute baby pic.
.
Welcome Ann Marie who joined us out of lurkdom to leave a comment on Jan’s recap post.
Twitter: jevjos
Danny’s only done a concert at the mall in Minnesota when his cd first came out. It’s been awhile since.
Winterfest reminds of the ice skating event that they have in winter I can’t think of what it’s called though.
Twitter: jevjos
This is a bit about Gloriana and one reason why I like them kinda of connected to reality tv. Their former band member who quit not too long ago won first place on america’s most talented kids for writing one of her own songs years ago. So she’s been around trying to do this since then.
“Danny just needs the right material, I think; and someone who knows how to develop and promote him.”
*sigh* We all know that, and have from the beginning. I just hope Danny knows that!
Some artists can find that niche on their own; others have to be developed and marketed. I think Danny falls in the latter category. The material is all there to work with: a hardworking singer with a great, unique voice who can sing almost anything, who is physically attractive, has charisma, and can put on a show and perform as well as sing. But the music biz nowadays is kinder to niche singers than jacks-of-all-trades. *sigh* I like variety in my music, but not everyone does.
video: Danny and baby
Twitter: jannworth
Lurker, that is really a cute video.
You can tell that Danny has complete comfort with babies. It looks like they were all having a great time
