Good morning
Such a wild weekend in music and the weather. Winter has proven that it is not done with us yes and the loss of one of the premier voices in music
We have video from the cruise
check them out in their own post on the front page.It looks like a lot of fun was had by all and Mr Gokey is hiding some secrets.
Danny also performed at a Heart Foundation fundraiser and wore a suit again

Good Morning. It seems like Monday just gets here so fast. I did watch a little of the Grammys. My daughter was thrilled Bon Iver won from Wisconsin.
Who would have thought? I heard Jennifer Hudson did a very moving tribute to Whitney. I really like today’s picture of Danny. Such a handsome man.
I see his concert in Manitowoc is right around the corner. I wish I could have gone, but will be in Phoenix visiting my daughter. Well, off to work again. Have a good Monday all.
Brandon and Danny like some kinds of music I don’t like (from some songs I heard from last year’s and this year’s cruise videos).
I hope Danny’s new music is the kind I like. I don’t care for Gimme a Kiss, the Faith, Hope, Love song, or Brian Mcknight (or songs with that sound).
I know Danny loves Brian McKnight. (I think that is the name.) To me, that is a dreary, boring sound. It is like a song-long introduction. I keep expecting the song to get faster, but it keeps dragging.
I love Win Me Over. I hope Danny is able to get it, but it may be too expensive, or the label may only release it to another label.
I also loved IWNSG and Get Away and some others from the first album, but I am very ready for new music. I love some of the covers Danny has done: TROUBLE, Boot Scootin’ Boogie, Living On A Prayer (I think that’s the name).
If a song I don’t care for becomes a big hit, I will celebrate it. But still, I hope Danny has on his album (or EP) songs that I love for their sound. WMO is one I love listening to plus upbeat, fun songs. ( I don’t want more “save-the-world” songs. I want fun songs. (Bad me.
) )
No, Lurker, you are not bad. I know peeps besides you and me who want to hear fun, upbeat songs from Danny. And who would prefer that he stay away from some of the save-the-world songs.
I will confess, though, that Faith, Hope, & Love has grown on me (for the music/sound as much, or probably more, than the words). I wouldn’t mind if it were on an album or added as a bonus song, but it should never ever be offered as a single.
I know it’s heresy, but I’m not all that fond of Gimme A Kiss, either. (Though many fans do like it.) But I love Win Me Over.

I think many fans on the cruise will agree that we are into Danny for his music more than his “movement”….. We still support his charity, but many of us have our own local charities to support. (Now I have taken the title for bad fan–and I WORK for SHF….). Feel better Lurker?
Ellen and Jan,
You make me feel better about my “bad fan” status. I kind of hated to say anything about the kind of songs I don’t like. But I have learned it’s not always good to pretend to like something I don’t.
There was a lady I knew who cooked some food I really hated. I ate it and pretended I liked it to keep from hurting her feelings. I must have put on a good act. She kept making it for me because I liked it so much.

“But I have learned it’s not always good to pretend to like something I don’t.”
So true
My FIL keeps sending food we don’t eat because we are polite. He sends yucky Pillsbury cinnamon rolls home with my diabetic daughter, lol and I have a freezer with 10 loaves of Zucchini bread
We toss the food or give it away, feeling really guilty but not wanting to hurt his feelings.
We complimented his cooking (because hurting someone’s feelings is worse than going hungry) and now he serves us cold cuts (called “cold meats” where they come from), white bread, orange jello with fruit cocktail. We are kind of nutritional health nuts, so you can imagine the horror….
Fans like all different songs, it is apparent! I don’t see anything wrong with voicing our feedback.
I really dislike Faith, Hope and Love-boring to me. I guess some message songs are ok, but none of them are on my IPOD, lol-except for Danny by default.
I am not a Brian McKnight fan either Lurker- I find those songs boring also.
When I am in a strange place (friends, hotel) I play Danny to put me to sleep
His voice is very soothing . But most songs are not energizing. MBDAAOM is the exception, as well as Life On Ya. I even find Get Away too slow to run to. I hope his next album has some fast songs- so far WMO and SHH are not (Much as I do love the music of WMO).
I do like Gimme A Kiss
very much! It needs cleaning up, and a little more instrumental touch up, but I think it is a very good song recorded (not as good live).
I have my doubts Danny can get WMO; it is a good song and RCA will probably want to give it to someone else. But he seems to be counting on getting it so

Maybe he can get Mallory to write them a duet
Hello Everyone,
I do hope Danny will be able to use Win Me Over. I like that song and thought it would do well since it’s the most country sounding to me. I just wished he would find someone to point him in the right direction. I worry that without new music, and appearances it may not be the best for his career. It seems you always have to be out there. It’s hard work to have a successful music career along with running a foundation like SHF. I know that SHF is so important to him. SHF takes time and funds. Having a good steady music career would benefit SHF. Hopefully, he has something up his sleeve we don’t know about. I hope I didn’t make anyone upset. Just my opinion.
Rest in Peace Whitney Houston. I loved her beautiful voice. I’m sad she couldn’t beat her demons down. Her family are in my thoughts..
Enjoy the evening.

See these are the things that make a conversation
Me. I’m not a fan of WMO , can’t really point to why, something is just off about it. maybe it to fast a tempo for the lyrics :runs and hides : I also agree that WMO will probably be reatained by the label for later use.
I agree Gimme a Kiss is getting better the more they work with it, Pam.
I like the Bryan Mcknight songs on Danny because he likes them and when he is comfortable with a song he sings better.
So my hope is he gets songs that are good, that he can sing well and then I will pick and choose as they suit my taste.
I’m such a party pooper
Hello everyone,
I have to jump in today and say I love GImme A Kiss. I think it has more of a pop flavor than country which may contribute to that.
I also love Win Me Over. The words do not do anything for me, but the kind of voice he uses in the chorus of that song is what I really crave. I found out on the cruise he is considering that his soulful voice where he really belts out the words. I realize he may never be able to keep his voice if he did that all the time, but I would welcome a whole album of that. Consider it a Danny obsession on my part, but I also like the lyrics to Faith, Hope and Love (although I am not really into the music on that one).
Good conversation tonight. I do like WMO the best. Gimme a Kiss is just ok to me. I think of Adele who won big at the Grammys last night. She has a soulful voice. Who were her writers? She is only 23 years old. She had a great producer also. She came out of nowhere. So it is possible for Danny to become successful. Cindy3- I agree with you that Danny is very dedicated to SHF, but it it will take his career in music to make that successful. We all know money doesn’t grow on trees. I still believe he has to hook up with the right people and be comfortable in what he sings.
Doesn’t appear that they post media online, but this station evidently aired an interview with Danny today in lead-up for his WI concert later in the month.

Paula, I think Adele co-writes her own songs. I’m pretty sure she co-wrote “Rolling in the Deep, which won a Grammy for song of the year.
Darla, I like the belting and grit/gravel, as long as Danny doesn’t do it all the time (on every song or throughout a song). Then it’s fatiguing. Most of the time, he gets that balance right. (Example: “Hero.”)
That’s why I like the early music by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion. Once they made a splash and became big, they all started oversinging. And I can’t abide oversinging. (Fingernails on a chalkboard.)
Oversinging has the same effect as someone who makes every sentence they write long and rambling, and jam-packed with fifty-cent words. It’s fatiguing for the reader. (Not that I don’t run-on at times or use big words, but hopefully not to the extent that the reader wants to wave a white flag of defeat.)

“Having a good steady music career would benefit SHF. ”
I think today’s conversation will tell you a lot about how the speech part of Danny’s 1st concert went on the cruise.
He talked so much about SHF and then answered audience questions about his future. Many of us couldn’t quite get where he was headed with his musical career….. his answers seemed almost contradictory at times. And that left time for only about 7songs
We love his voice, and his passion for SHF, but the music has to come first
As far as Win Me Over. Unless he still has some allies at Sony, I don’t see them “giving” him it for his next music project. It is a business after all. But what do I know?
BUT he redeemed himself at the last concert and announced that he would be putting out a EP. (And Brandon told me it would be country…) I have my fingers crossed, but I’m not seeing any tweets about Danny being in the studio recording or writing for that EP
I’m waiting for lots of good music

Oh, BTW, here’s the scoop on the above tweet:
Marc Steven Mariani (born May 2, 1987) is an American football wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League.
He must be the guy in the picture with Danny.
It’s nice to see this young man awed by D, but…. exposure Danny, exposure….

I thought these articles were interesting. The first one is about Kevin Costner being the reason Whitney recorded “I Will Always Love You.” He was the producer of the movie (and co-star), and he insisted on that song.

Some stars’ estates make millions after the death of the star. This article says millions will be made by Dolly Parton but not by Whitney.

Good morning
Interesting insight into how Danny’s music is perceived, and of course also points out how hard it is for labels to pick songs.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
I will be going to dinner later with my husband to celebrate the day. It will be interesting to see how Danny chooses his next songs to put on the EP. I guess people like Taylor Swift and Adele are very lucky to be that talented when writing their own music. I really like Leyicet’s quote about Danny- so true. She sounds like a very special young lady. Have a great day today and don’t eat too much chocolate.
Wanted to jump on and wish everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day.
Danny and his music since I am not a talented person I love everything Danny sings.
happy Valentine’s day to all
. Good Morning,
Love all Danny’s songs.
Haven’t heard one that I don’t enjoy. Maybe some more than others, but love them all. I love the Gokey Growl and love when he incorporates it in his music. The texture being weaved in and out of the music makes it interesting and to use a wine term “Full bodied” Well off to start the day.

Loved Leyicets tweet……
“Danny and his music since I am not a talented person I love everything Danny sings.”
Man I just read this over. I must have still been sleeping. Let me explain here. what I meant is that I cannot sing and I love to listen to Danny sing because I am in such amazement that someone can sound so good on everything he sings. Ok I even know that sometimes he sounds better then other times. But that passion he puts behind his singing. Weather it be on stage or in church he is one remarkable talented person. Yes I agree he really needs to start
recording.
Well thats it for now got to get back to work.

Happy Valentines Day everyone
I love coming to iHeart and seeing all the different opinions
Makes the world go round

Especially important to keep the discussion going since Danny’s career is on hiatus right now.
Celebrities want to be talked about and receive attention. Part of the reason they put their personal lives out there in a big way sometimes.
The day people stop talking and giving opinions about celebrities is the day the celeb. should worry

“Interesting insight into how Danny’s music is perceived, and of course also points out how hard it is for labels to pick songs.
Exactly Dani! And why some songs do well one hates, and vice versa.
I think this tweet is funny. It wasn’t about Danny. It’s just a tweet I saw that struck me as funny.

Because WB irritates me with her superior attitude, I have checked some tweets on Hunter Hayes. WB has said Scotty will get Best New Artist unless industry insiders give it to Hunter over fans’ vote (not exact words but something like that).
I don’t dislike Scotty, but I do dislike WB. I dislike WB so much that I tend to be for someone she is against.
This is a song some of Hunter’s fans were tweeting about because it fits a feeling they have about Valentine’s: “I’d like to stick a pin into every heart-shaped balloon I see, Seems like everybody’s got somebody but me.” (I may have words wrong. I just listened once.)
I hope the video does not embed. I want to post just the link, but I don’t know what will happen anymore. Sometimes there is a link; sometimes there is the video.
Hunter wrote or co-wrote all his songs, played every instrument, and co-produced his album.
The video has 152,470 views with 326 comments. Hunter is performing alone with just guitar, but he has a laptop in front of him. Maybe he has a track of himself playing other instruments on the laptop?

It’s a good day to wish a Happy Valentine’s day to all the “ihearties” out there. You’ve added so much to the joy in my life!
Now back to my valentine

PS. Lurker, I have the same reaction to WMill’s not liking certain artists. And besides, I’ve seen Hunter Hayes, he puts on a good show
Here is the thank you video Danny did for the school performers raising $$ for SH

Not to take WB side (cause that is against everything I am
) I think the prediction was just taking into account that Idol viewers have the voting block thing down pat. It is very hard to beat them when they decide they want a win.
If they actually count the votes Scotty will win.

Happy valentine’s day to everyone.
Pam I like what you said, If noone talked about any celebrities they would never get any music to put out, acting roles etc which are baised on the public’s perception completely, never fill seats for concerts. This is all done by interest without people talking about them it would be quite hard. The entertainment business is completely imaged baised, baised on what OTHER people think not themselves.
Maybe. But I think Hunter does have a lot of fans. He has made them over the years. He started playing for paying audiences at the age of five, and he has played about 30 country festivals every year for the last 15 years. (I read this in a bio about him.) He seems to have fans of different ages–from the older ones who thought he was cute growing up to the teen girls in love with him now.
More from a bio:

“wifey” Danny?

I hope you were joking, Danny! “The wifey?”
Really?
The use of definite articles should be banned when speaking of spouses. Seriously. I cringe when I hear someone say, “the wife” or “the hubby.” They have names, people!
I’ve noticed that my friends who are happily married almost always use their spouses’ given names, unless the context dictates otherwise — if, for example, the person to whom they are speaking would not know the name of their spouse. But even then, they usually say, “my wife Mary” or “my husband John.”
Just a pet peeve of mine. But maybe it’s a cultural thing?
I don’t know if it is cultural, but I have seen it a lot on twitter. It (the wifey) is currently used as a sweet, loving term of endearment (not used in same way as the wife).
I think I first saw it in a tweet by Def, but I have seen it many times since then.
I just took it as Danny enjoying the experience of being married again
But I hope that’s not an expression he makes a habit of
Twitter: pjgvet
“Just a pet peeve of mine. But maybe it’s a cultural thing?”
Lol, Ellen
He’s probably just trying to be humorous. But I hear you- there are many expressions I dislike -one thing about the English language-SO many adjectives and so much slang! Very colorful.
I wouldn’t scold him for that tonight; but I would for tweeting three times on Valentines Night? ? (I actually wasn’t watching Twitter-just popped in for a moment, but then when I saw responses checked it out).
Lol, really Danny? You are a Newlywed and it is Valentine’s Day!!!! What are you doing tweeting and posting pictures
I remember Candlelight, no phones or TV, only music….I guess my first Valentines with my new husband was a wee bit different…..ok, sorry TMI.
Twitter: pjgvet
Lurker, I had already planned on voting for Hunter Hayes before your comment- I think he is very talented and hard working. Nothing against Scotty at all-he has a lot of potential, but the other two certainly deserve it more, IMO.
I think fan voting is just one part of it; doesn’t the ACM also make the final decision? Based on artistic merit, talent, etc-not just fan votes. Idols certainly have a huge advantage, they have lots of fans who know how to vote via mass exposure.
If it were Danny I’d feel the same- he has a great voice and a good entertainer but there would have been others who worked their way up more and had all around musicianship like Thompson Square, Chris Young, Luke Bryan (although I personally don’t enjoy his music), The Band Perry, etc.
Scott already got the ACA fan voted thing, so maybe the Academy would be less likely to give him this, even if Idol fans voted their fingers off?
That was a cute song Hunter sang, Lurker- and definitely Teen-friendly in a real way.
Back to my Valentines Day-have a good one everyone
Nah, not TMI, Pam. But glad to see you are taking your own advice and spending Valentine’s evening with your hubby, Randy.
Yes, I think Danny didn’t mean anything by the expression and was just being humorous (but it’s still a pet peeve of mine). And yes, I sincerely hope that newlywed Danny has better things to do on Valentine’s Day than tweet!

One of my male friends called me today to wish me a Happy Valentine’s Day. Wasn’t that sweet? I hope he and his sweetie are having an enjoyable evening.
