Good Morning! Just quickly want to say I have already started to upload videos on my YT account from last night’s concert. It was another super concert and even after just being on the cruise it was great to meet up with other fans and see Danny again. I so far have only had a couple of hours of sleep so I am going back to bed now and I did just set up some more video uploads of the longer videos will check in later with a few more details. Once again my pictures are no good so I decided to just take videos. Danny did not sing any new songs and he sang his usual set.
All the seats in the venue seated around tables on the floor and upper level were taken and there were fans outside of the venue that could also watch the concert don’t want to estimate how many but it was a good size crowd.

Danip, I think I can match your horse stories –unfortunately— recently I was woken up at 2AM with the sight of flashing lights circling my house. And a sheriff at my door. “Ed’s” horses had gotten out again. And Ed was at work.

we are having high gusty winds and its interrupting my internet connection so yes that post was my recap but will have to redo it all. I just spent some time on the phone with Jan going over last night. Will also try to finish uploading my videos too. Thank you for all the comments on the videos they did turn out very good.

Just got back from today’s concert. Danny was awesome as usual. There were Danny’s regular fans but seemed to be a good amount who had not heard him perform live before but had seen him in Idol. The crowd was quiet at the beginning but of course by the end, Danny had them eating out of the palm of his hand and they were up dancing, jumping and leaving with a smile on their faces. Stayed for the signing and got another CD signed. No new news. I kind went up to Danny behind Steph and if you can believe it I am more bashful than she is. I don’t think I said a word
Anyway, Danny sang all the songs on his album, Back At One (think that is the name of it), Raining on Sunday and Jesus Take The Wheel. He also sang another song I had not heard at his previous concerts but I didn’t recognize it. Maybe Steph can help me out with that one. He sang is right before My Best Days Are Ahead of Me. I drove home all 
y and listened to his CD in the car, which I hadn’t listened to for a while.
Danny’s bus was parked right in front of RAMS Head On Stage on the road in downtown Annapolis. I didn’t know that Fozzie was with him at the Meet and Greet – Asics that picture is absolutely adorable. It was a small, completely full and very intimate setting which I thoroughly enjoyed because I got to see Danny up close and personal.

I know Danny has stated before that the plan is to be on Idol. I hope they decide on the single soon and get it ready for release so that he can perform on Idol because that will be huge for him if he gets to perform on the show again this year.

I did manage in the post-show signing line to ask Danny if he had any news for us. He said no, not right now. I said, even for touring? Not sure if he heard that, but he said that they are really trying to take their time and make the right choices, including about the single.

He did all the songs from MBD, and then I remember at least 8 covers: Back at One, Raining on Sunday, Hard to Handle, WHTM, TROUBLE, Life is a Highway, Livin on a Prayer, and JTTW which was a surprise. When he intro’ed JTTW, he said he was “changing things up” almost as if it was substituting for another song, but I can’t think what he skipped
If he didn’t skip anything, then Lizzy and Rach and I all got to hear an extra-long concert 
He started a little after 1 pm, and I don’t think it ended much before 1:30, possibly as late as 1:45.

This might not work for you, but I will pass on what I do in case it might be something you can use.
When I’m writing a post here that’s longer than a few words and is something I don’t want to redo if I lose it, I open a write mail, and when I have written a few lines or a paragraph here, I copy and paste it into my write mail. Then I have a backup in case I lose my post here.
I copy and paste as I go. I don’t send the email–unless I want to wait and work on my post later or if I get interrupted. If that happens, I send the email to myself. When I have time to work on it again, I pick up where I left off. (Sometimes I do it the other way. I write my post on an email and then copy and paste that into a post here.)
If my post here goes through without problems and my backup was not needed, I close it (the email) out without sending it.

He is going to be one traveled puppy! Also, great to hear that Danny might be performing on idol this year. That will be great exposure. Congrats to Danny on 2011 Philanthropist of the Year. I’m glad all his hard work on Sophia’s foundation is finally getting recognized

Lurker, no Boot Scootin’ song today. That might have been hard, the club stage was small although Danny still managed to do plenty of dancing and moving around once he figured out where was safe to walk

Two other tips for posting and trying not to lose text. These probably don’t work on phone, though??
Highlight over your text, then hit Ctrl-C as a safety measure before submitting. That will put the text on your clipboard so you can paste it here again or into another document if the submit doesn’t work. I use email sometimes as Lurker said.
Also, if you accidentally erase something, you may be able to right-click and bring up a menu with an Undo option. I, err, have tried that from time to time and it seems to work if you remember when you first lose the text.

Just got home from Mohegan Sun and Still giving off the Gokey Glow
. What a great concert. We were told that the Wolf Den holds approx. 300 people and it was packed yesterday. The venue is open so that the people in the surrounding gambling area can hear the music see the perfomance they just can’t come in and sit down. The people on the outside looking into the Den were about and this is my estimate from my vantage point to be about 200. This could be a high estimate, but I don’t really think so. Tonya and Toni can let me know because they were actually at a closer visual advantage to see that. I can’t say an exact amount, but it was quite a lot people. (“Mohegan Sun Casino has a state-of-the-art Poker Room as well as three major entertainment venues with seating from 300 to 10,000. People from across the globe come to see live concerts with some of today’s top headliners, along with major events.”)
Jill and I made arrangements to meet on the line and She is wonderful and once again this site has provided me with the opportunity to meet another very nice person. I met her family and she met mine. ( Plus the people in front of us on the line. She was taking a pic of my family and they asked her to take one of them. It was pretty funny, but being a good sport she did and gave them her fb. page. Jill you are a very nice person. When I met Danny for the first time Kathy(Phila) was so wonderful to me and got me through my Danny nerves and I hope I helped Jill the same way. We were running a little late for the lineup to begin for the concert. they told us to be there by four o’clock for the eight o’clock show. It was a long line and a long wait, but oh so worth it. The guests in the casino kept coming by and asking why all these people were in this very long line and we told them all about Danny. Most thought that it had something to do with Rascal Flatts who were performing there also last night. We were very happy to inform them that nope this crazy huge crowd was for Mr. Danny Gokey.
When we were lining up to go to the Meet and Greet’s, My sons girlfriend was so very excited. (she got to be the first to meet him, but thats another story) I saw Tonyny and Tonya and was so happy to meet Lisa. I brought my Danny Book with me and had him sign my recap and he stated that he appreciated the book and the Ihearties. Toni, he was saying what a great job you did on the book. I got the impression that he had not only looked at the book you gave him, but enjoyed it greatly. He was thrilled to sign my recap. Back to Samantha you will remember her as the Adam fan. Well she was so nervous and she was the first on the Meet and Greet line. She didn’t have anything to have him sign. They didn’t sell any merchandise before hand. So she took her meet and greet sticker put it in an appropriate place for a signiature and asked him to sign that. He was concerned that it would bleed through to her shirt and she informed him that she didn’t care “It would be worth it.”
He must have heard my son say her name and made her day when he said to her ” Your name is Samantha right?” If you turn off the lights when you look at her pic with him she is the one lighting up the room with her glow. I was next and I didn’t want to hug him or really be near him as I wasn’t feeling well. 
(didn’t know if it was illness or the smoking in the casino. lungs aren’t use to that.) I explained this to him and he said he appreciated it. So we ended up with a very silly, but wonderful Meet and Greet pic. I stayed to see Jill meet him and she was just blown away, but that’s her story to tell. I will say that there was some little girl squealing and jumping up and down afterwards. I believe the word “Hot” was mentioned a few times and yes of course there was the ever present glow.

The meet and greet was done in the downstairs of the venue and the walls were covered with signitures which you can see in the pics of people who have performed there. Unfortunatly there was no Fozzy at our M&G.
When we returned to the venue we were more than ready to watch Danny perform. The crowd was a loud and good one. He had no trouble getting everyone into it and He sounded so good. He always sounds good but the rest has done him in good stead. I was surprised that he did “What Hurts the Most” with R.F. in the house, but as usual he blew it away. I was thrilled because although I am a R.F.’s fan I love his rendition better. His energy level and Dance moves were off the charts as you can see from Toniny wonderful video’s. This is my fourth concert and It’s still as exciting and wonderful as the first. When he sang Crazy not To a lot of women came up to the stage and were singing and looking to touch his hand. It was very cute, If not a little scary when a couple of times some didn’t want to let go. Well that’s enough for right now looking forwards to todays Md recaps.
Also wanted to mention that when He did Will not say goodbye there was a standing ovation, He seemed surprised and very moved by this….

I remember Brian Mansfield or maybe it was Matt B. writing in their review of IWNSG that it would be a “show stopper”. I believe this standing ovation is the beginnings of that as people realize the power of that song and are impacted by the emotion Danny is able to evoke when he sings it.

Concert was very good. Even with a small stage he was still able to move around quite a bit. Lighting was terrible for pictures but I did get a good one of Danny & Fozzy after the show. So glad that I went as this will be my last show for a while. Both families at the tables I was sitting at had never seen him before & they were very grateful to have an afternoon kid friendly show. Both bought CDs after the show and said they would see him again.

Danip, I was raised on a dairy farm, my sweet husband grew up in an inner city neighborhood of Milwaukee–but he had a horse and we didn’t. They truly are Ed’s horses.
And when you run out of material, I have stories to tell of Ed trying his hand at raising pigs, beef cows, goats, chickens and snakes.

I am probably the minority here, but RCA Nashville will know when it’s the right time to release the next single that will give Danny maximum impact and expand his audience. And that should include test markets with radio people, industry pros and the public.
David Cook, Kelly Clarkson, Casey James all have been working on their albums much longer than Danny and there is still no news on their releases. And Danny is already ahead of Adam and Kris who I don’t think are even recording.
Danny still has 3 mos to be slotted on AI and I understand those dates are usually done close to the performance date.
I am glad RCA Nashville is taking their time and doing it right. I don’t think it’s going to help Danny’s career just to release a single for the sake of appeasing some fans and then realizing it wasn’t the best choice. Danny would then have to live with those consequences.
I am sure David Archuleta’s fans wishes he was in Danny’s position now. The same with fans of Chris Medina as well as all those other hopefuls Season 10 who have been cut.

HI! just want to Thank You all again for the compliments on the videos. I have to tell you that I love taking videos of Danny’s concerts for you all that are not able to be there just like I love seeing videos from others when I can’t be at a concert it really is the next best thing.
Katlee I just submitted my recap with my only 3 good pictures I took and l just read yours and it was so amazing. 1. Love your M&G photo with Danny 2. you have to experience an Iheartie event in WI 3. THANK YOU ! so much for talking to Danny about the book and sharing it here as I totally forgot to mention it and i didn’t even ask him if he had read it. All I told him is that my own copy of the book did not arrive in time and then I started to ask other questions.

Lizzy and Steph it sounds like another awesome concert in MD and the twitter fans from last night’s concert were tempting me to come to MD but knowing it was a sold out concert and on the way back it would have been like a 8-9 hour drive for me I decided that it was best not to.

Observation from video watching: It appears Danny is wearing the same Van Halen t-shirt at Mohegan Sun as Matt wore at the second concert on the cruise. I surprise myself that I noticed this as wardrobe is usually Asics and Erika’s area of expertise.

Tonights episode is “The tale of the Voguing horse “ now with visuals
This one is a bit long but you have to let the pictures form in your mind :
). I see them looking around at all of the Arabians in the barn and know exactly what they are thinking, and it ain’t gonna happen , they would eat her alive. So I send them back outside and tell them I will bring out one for them , and go over to run a brush over his coat. I toss a lead rope on him and out we go, you could watch their faces fall when they saw this huge palomino horse come out of the barn like a big dog. See the thing about him is while he was a ¾ arab he was also huge and not very refined, I am grinning as I set him up and drop the rope and he just stands there. The girl walks over and is probably thinking her pictures are going to be crap, but what they don’t know about him is he is a big ham, get him anywhere near a camera and after the first click of the shutter he went all “Hollywood”. So she moves up to him and touches his nose and he turns to look at her and hears the camera. Ahhh his cue, the ears come up the eyes get bright and a Star is Born !!! He is giving them profiles, some flared nostrils some smiles and the girl is getting into it then..she brings out a white scarf ala Howard Hughes and wraps it around his neck and he turns to look out upon the horizon(mean while my mom and I are falling over laughing) she gives him a red lipstick kiss on the cheek and he goes all dreamy . This goes on for about an hour and finally they packed up with promises of sending us copies of the pictures, they never arrived and I have always thought it was because when they developed them that he looked better than she did .
When you live in a rural community you always get unexpected visitors who are driving down the street and see the horses and want to stop. This particular Sunday was no different , while working in the barn a car made its way up the driveway and stopped in the turn around. As the dogs were making all kinds of news I came out and a young couple were exiting the car. The young man comes over and introduces himself and explains that he and the young woman are shooting her portfolio and would like to use one of the horses in the shots. As that was not an unusual request it is also one to worry about for safety reasons. But hey why not , I ask the usual questions and determine they know nothing about horses at all so I decide Sunny is the most suitable choice as he was mostly unflappable (this is another story
Moral : Don’t judge a book by the cover cause there is some pretty good stuff inside.

Of course you are correct. Fans are impatient of course. We are spoiled by having so much Danny news, we want that fix all the time
We should really just be happy that Danny will have a single out to sing on AI. Not sure Kris or definitely Adam will.
I am glad also that they are thinking about it a lot. Danny is very hard working and a quick recorder (he has that reputation of a one take singer) but I hope they are test marketing it a lot.
Steph, is Kris recording or just writing? I don’t recall for sure, but thought they were writing perhaps? IDK.

Keep them coming. I don’t want to have to pull out Vet stories. I may think they are funny, but others may find them sad or gross!

Who was lucky enough to see Danny in Maryland today?? I saw him lastnight at the Mohegan Sun, in CT, and I have been on cloud nine all day. Loved the show, and chatting with him after the show. He’s a doll!! Good person, good heart and an amazing voice. I can’t wait for the day when he headlines a concert in the arena, and someone opens for him. He is that good and has that many fans. I saw it for myself lastnight. There were so many hundreds of people watching him from the outside of the Wolf Den, not including the 300+ that were inside. He blew it out of the park, just like he did when he sand “Hero” on American Idol. Loved every minute of it. I want more!! Thanks for a great show DG.. What touches me is when the artist interacts with the fans, and that he did lastnight. Way to make your fans happy!!

Pam – if Danip runs out of stories I would love to hear your vet stories. One of my favorite writers is the country vet James Herriot of “All Creatures Great and Small” fame. Although he could get pretty gross with the details on some of his farm animal stories

Pam thank you for the kind words about Sunny, he really was a very attractive horse when he was on (he was a nationally ranked show horse) but he had his schlub days like all of us.
Funny you should mention the vet story and grossing people out as the next episode is a bittersweet tale with a happy ending but upon hindsight the day after was very funny. I am a bit heitant about posting it but it features one of my favorite people in the world..my mother and I love sharing it.
Getting ready to watch Steph’s JTTW as I am interested to see how Danny tackles it this time minus the parka.

Oh, that’s right Steph, the $175 min. person (Do we have any Kris fans here who know if he is recording??). She said Danny received an advance of $175 per album, Kris received $275 with the other half coming after completion (release?). They were talking about the fact that 20% of albums never get released if the lead single doesn’t do well.
So everyone has their voting and requesting fingers limbered up right? There won’t be any Danny to see in concert (at the level he’s at if he doesn’t have his major label).
Not trying to be a downer on this fun weekend of concerts, just trying to lull some fans out of complacency. He needs his fans to not just be entertained, but to buy the single, CD and vote, request.

You hit the nail on the head Pam….I think our urgency regarding Danny’s timeline has more to do with the worry that casual fans will move on and not be there to support him if his single doesn’t come out sooner rather than later.
We die-hards will be there for sure, but getting the masses motivated can be a monumental task as we have seen. I am so hoping he has an AI appearance around his new single as getting that national exposure could make all the difference.

I also thought it was interesting, as it seemed to me he sang JTTW in a much lower key than you usually hear for Danny. Maybe that’s something new they are trying, or it just turned out that way as they picked a key on the fly to do the song today?

Was occurring to me, if Danny’s not out touring for a while to work on his album, and get in some vacation (he mentioned again today his plan to go to the Caribbean for someone’s wedding in March), maybe he will be available to do Opry shows at least, or other events around home in Nashville.

I was talking about money Danny received. Someone at MJs blog said that artist receive an “advance” (half of the money the label gives them for an album) before it is recorded, and the other half when it is released. But that is just someone at MJs talking about something they read on a site (a “leak” from Idol’s contracts).
So glad Fozzy’s friends are growing. Fozzy will have to get used to horses, since Danny wants them some day. Danip, keep the horse stories coming, even if they involve fly bots, colic, laminitis, or some comic mishap- you are a good story teller and you know Danny lurks here at times so he would love to read them too

Steph, good perception. Yes, this definitely was a lower key than how he sang it on AI, and the studio version from AI. At first when he started singing I thought whoa, this is really low. But he sounded really good on the low verse, really good control and support. I also noticed today he sang the second verse an octave higher than the first (his money spot, as Kara would say). I really like what he did with it.

Evening all,
What a perfect day. The show was great as usual! Danny was amazing and adorable as usual. JTTW was a very nice surprise. And I thought they did rather well on the spot with it.
I’m still kicking myself though for not saying hello when I was only like 5 feet from him and Fozzy. lol. Though I told him during my m&g I’d seen him and Fozzy only like 45 minutes or so prior. He told me he’d just woke up then.. haha! He looked amazing even having just woke up
Fozzy wasn’t at the actual meet and greet though.
It was awesome seeing Steph and Lizzy again as always!!!!
I thought it was nice when my mom and I were walking through the parking garage after the show, we heard someone playing his CD in their car. Then as we were going through the circle there in Annapolis, I heard yet another playing it in their car.
I so love being on cloud 9 for a few days following a Danny concert!

Danny didn’t comment today on whose wedding it was, just that he was making another trip to “the Caribbean” to attend a wedding. He mentioned the vacation he took for a week or so last year before or after Summerfest. Made me wonder if this will be another trip where he gets to spend some time, not just rush there and head back.

I noticed the band definitely sounded more country too.

Rach, don’t feel bad- sounds like you got to talk to him at M&G and to be honest, I think Danny appreciates when fans respect his space/privacy. No one , even “one of the nicest guys in Country Music”, as CW put it, lol, can be “on” all the time-he is only human. He gives us so many opportunities and is so accessible with the M&G and auto signing that I really think it is polite to not approach him when he is not in “official” fan mode, and I bet he respects fans like you who don’t try to wring every last little bit of attention out of him and just let him enjoy his time with Fozzy alone. Just my opinion.

I agree with this. I would hate having to smile on demand. Danny is much better at it than I would be.
There have been times I have seen someone I know (not know well-but well enough that I would need to smile and say hello if I came face-to-face with them) in a grocery store. I have moved to a different aisle so I didn’t run into them and have to make small talk.
Has anyone else ever done this? Am I normal?

Ivan told Ed and I on the cruise that his brother was the one getting married in Puerto Rico. And when I asked him Edwin? He said yes. (Now I know, that sounds like I’m a too nosy fan, but it’s easy for me to remember Ivan’s brother’s name because its the same as my Edwin –and it is less common than Edward, etc.) Ivan’s brother is a musician, also. I remember Ivan tweeting about playing with his band.
