Good morning everyone Boston just played it this morning on their morning show already a little bit ago in the 5am hour. They were talking about him a bit and one of the things was how his personality is what people look for in a country artist someone who’s nice, got a good voice, down to earth. When someone says want to make a certain type of music that it should believe in that music. They were basically on how he goes with country music and what a good decision it was for him to be country.
I’ve heard other people say that about him that he has the personality of someone who’s country. I think those guys are onto something with that.

Todays update from mediabase for Danny has him down 21 spins for the week, that is one more spin he is down from yesterday. Let’s requesting and keep voting for him on the polls, including the WSOC ones and Minneapolis one, which he didn’t make last night.
Here is the link to the WSOC (Charlotte) Poll. They said that Luke “slightly” won over Danny. So it looks like Danny was close to being #1 last night. I think that we can get him back to #1 again on that poll.

I can’t stay long – I have a meeting this morning but do you all agree that emails, twitter, fb are preferable to the mediabase forms. It’s helping him though get closer to the positive other stations have picked up his song. He might still actually only need to recover one spin but we still should work on getting his spins higher.
Also everyone on twitter, please retweet or copy and tweet again Danny’s tweet to request IWNSGB. I think it is a good idea to keep reminding people. Mr. Bing, being down 20 spins is doable, if he had dropped even more this morning I would have really been concerned because I would have said the writing is on the wall, but he didn’t so I truly believe his song can recover so that best thing we can do is honor Danny’s request and REQUEST REQUEST REQUEST his song from country radio.
I think that it would be good for us to do both of these things.
I think that even though Danny is down like 21 spins it’s not as bad as it could be. He could recover from this. If he was like over 100 spins down, then I think that would be really bad. Or down like 50 spins for the week, which would also be bad.
We at least are keeping him from dropping less. Without the spins we get for him from the countdowns/requesting he would be down more than he is now.
I think that we should just keep doing what we are doing. And try to get him on every countdown that we can.

Actually he had 722 spins yesterday,also he had 742 last Wednesday.So that means he lost 20 yesterday compared to last Wednesday.
Today he had 717,yet last Thursday it’s 738,hence he lost 21 today compared to last Thursday.
So he didn lose 1 spin today,it’s 5 spins.I dont know why I did this.Maybe it’s about depression.Gosh!

The mediabase forms were never intended to be a replacement for other forms of communication with stations. One human being engaging with another in conversation is always assumed to be more influencing, when this is possible. I think the forms are great both as a supplement to that, and as a method to request when other methods either aren’t available to that particular fan or time doesn’t allow for it.

Danny’s tweet yesterday will hopefully help kick people into action! With Ipods and CD’s, I don’t think as many people listen to the radio as they used to.
Also, Erika I am sure you know that you can undo the RT and keep RTing his tweet over and over – more powerful coming directly from Danny.
On another note, someone suggested this the other night and I agree. Danny needs to get some free PR. He needs to be seen at social events with other big country music artists. The tribute to Wynonna was good, but more events like this would be better big name artists – Miranda, Carrie, Blake, etc. This will increase awareness and exposure for him. As his fall tour starts, maybe he will have more time to “socialize” this will help. Hopefully his management company is working on this. Someone said this worked for Kellie Pickler.

Hi, Worked very late last night, actually early morning, on media based forms. I mentioned it late last night, but I think I was about the only one still there, maybe Josie and Ellen 3 AM ET.
I started to write in the comments section of the form that IWNSGB should be played for a tribute to 9/11 victims. Let’s face it the video honors a first responder and NYC had many first responder casualties.
Hoping that stations will play it for the firefighters, police officers and civilians who lost their lives. It is a powerful song for the people who lost their loved ones that day.

Kathy, I agree. BigDandBubba just tweeted asking if people are doing anything special to commemmorate 9/11, and I responded asking them to play Danny’s song in honor of the victims, and I told them that the line “I don’t want to not remember” really expresses how I feel about the sacrifices that day. I often think about the firefighters and police officers who went into those buidlings and kept trying to get to victims, knowing that they were under terrible risk. Hard to believe it’s been 9 years ago.

You can suggest in the comment box. I and someone else have already suggested Danny. And you know it helps to get his name to Trisha She is married to Garth who is known to give a hand up to struggling artist. I am a major Garth fan and I remember well He also faced the bigotry of not being country enough ( I know, hard to believe, but true he was never really accepted by the inner circle.) He never for all his fame really received any awards or the accolades that he should have, given his success and fame. I’ve been a country fan for about 25 years and have followed Garth and Trisha’s careers. I think if we can get them curious enough to look into who Danny is they just might help him.
I posted this late last night, but in case anyone needs a laugh today . . .
Tomorrow has got to be a better day! How’s this for a laugh? So I’m at work and I go to the ladies’ room and realize I left my key card in my office, which means I can’t get back to my office or any other nonpublic space in the building. Our offices are behind a security door. Not only can’t I get back to my office, but I can’t go home, either, because I left my keys (both car & apartment) on my desk, in the office I can’t get into. All I have is a dying cell phone! So I call one of only about two local phone numbers that I have memorized. (No, of course I don’t have any numbers programmed into my cell phone — a pay-as-you-go TracPhone — because I am a luddite and technology befuddles me!) I call a friend and asked her to look up the home phone number of the maintenance guy — who fortunately I am friends with. Meanwhile my cell phone is gasping its last breath. Thank goodness I find a regular phone on the security guy’s desk. It’s dark and I can barely see to dial. I call my friend back, and she gives me the number. I call, and the maintenance guy’s wife — who I’ve fortunately met before and who has the same first name as my friend — answers. I identify myself and tell her breathlessly, “I’m in deep doo-doo!” She gets maintenance guy on the phone, and he drives back to work to let me into my office.
(The blush icon is too happy. I am so embarrassed!) Anyway, all is well that ends well. (Hopefully that will be true for Danny, too.)

Ellen B. I love your story. Sorry you had to go through it, but there is a lesson in it for all of us. I feel so helpless at work because I cannot get most of the Radio internet sites on my computer and so the only requesting I can do at work is on the mediabase forms. I feel like I am not utilizing my daytime hours in the best way. At least I can vote on most of the polls during the day and I hope that helps, but I’m wondering if by doing the same radio polls night after night we have already saturated those markets? I know it’s good to keep him on top of those polls because it means he is still getting attention, but are there other radio polls in other markets out there that we are missing?

Hi, I have been voting my butt off.
Doing monitored stations in states and DC most affected by 9/11 and asking for a tribute with IWNSGB. Josie, also got my Pure Pack in too. I tried the Milwaukee station with the E rewards, cannot figure that one out. Just went to their mediabase page to vote. The San Jose station tried to twitter Indiana Al, don’t know whether he got it or not.
Question, What time is Katlee and friends having dinner at Prospectors?
I think my time is best spent on things I know how to do quickly and vote alot. If Danny is up by a high margin on the radio countdowns I vote a couple of times and move on to something else.
When I try to get into things that I don’t know how to do I spend too much time actually doing nothing. Can’t help it, I am computer challenged. Also I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from the shooting I was involved in at work and that makes it difficult for me sometimes to concentrate without getting extremely stressed out.
You will have to take me with my limited computer skills. Just to let you know what I am voting on so others who can do the fancy computer tricks can spend their time doing that more and I can do the semi-skilled laborer work.
Off to visit mom and swimming (need to destress). I’ll be back later to vote again.

Cheryl we’ve been trying to get his song on the other polls. It’s a good idea to ask the person at the station if you request from any of them to see if they will add it. Ex if the countdown is at 9pm ask the DJ that’s on at 9. I do wish more of them would add his song. WITL, WSLC, WNCY are all playing it sometimes alot. KTST is a countdown spins the rest I’m not sure about off hand. WDSY just changed it.
Some of the countdowns he always doesn’t make it on though some of the ones in black that I’ve highlighted have been once or none.
When everything is all said and done it’ll be just fine. We are doing the best we can and that’s want counts that were still around for him.
I’m confident that he’ll recover this week.

Pam, I saw the smug w-b-like post on WSOC. With apologies in advance to all of Danny’s southern fans: I wanted to reply to the post and say, “Hey, the civil war is long over, honey!” But I bit my tongue, held my breath, and just ignored the comment. This country is supposed to be a land of opportunity, where people can get ahead based on merit and hard work, not on an accident of birth or upbringing. The fact that Luke Bryan may have been born on a farm in the south doesn’t make him any better (or worse) a country singer and entertainer than any other artist. I do like Luke’s voice. I think it has an interesting tone to it. I’m less impressed with many of the songs he chooses to sing. Rant over. What can I say? I’m a frustrated idealist!

Here’s some positives I’ve seen besides you guys being awesome.
I’ve seen two stations over +5 for the week almost to 10(I was trying to find stations that’ll hit the 10 mark this week) two just under 5 spins so some are really gaining to even out the dropping spins. If we can get Boston to 28= 7×4 that’ll put them on the plus side. I have no idea if they’ll go that high but it won’t hurt to try we just have to keep track when they play it.
We made more countdowns Monday than we have ever done before.
His song has been one of the most requested ones in particular areas meaning that people really want to hear it in some places. Some of this hasn’t been us it’s everyone wanting him and his single.
I’ll do something special for the 911 ones tomorrow and Saturday for the east coast and San Diego with the military bases there. I’m hearing alot of Lee Greenwood today.

I know, Ellen, I bit my tongue as well. I wanted to write ‘If an artist is not good enough because he/she is not born and bred in country, I guess the same applies to fans. Oh, pity I can’t be a Luke Bryan fan as I’m not born and bred in country. Sad that I’m not ‘good enough’ as I just discovered country not long ago. I’ll stick with artists that don’t mind that I don’t know country history inside and out.’

I know Ellen, that whole thing is just so stupid. If someone talks about how an artist exemplifies what country music is all about because of their values and priorities, fine and dandy. Tell me how they’re superior b/c they were born south of the Mason-Dixon line and I’ve lost all respect for anything else they might have to say.
I definitely agree with what Pam said about not stressing out over Danny. Guys like him don’t grow on trees…he has an extraordinary voice and engaging personality and he’s so cute! Exhibit A: women melted into puddles all over the place around here, lol! He has to pay his dues and prove himself but it’s very hard for me to believe that he’s not going to get support from his label and the industry. Bottom line, they want to make money and I just don’t think it’s that easy to find someone with his voice and appearance and charisma to get a crowd going and “nothing to hide” character and sweetness/patience with fans. He is really special. These are not reasons not to vote/request as much as we reasonably can – I think we should. But I see them as reasons not to feel stressed about Danny, I believe that guy is going places. We’ll see how it all plays out and be there along the way, but he’ll get there.

KU from Australia seems to be one exception in this. I think he really must have struggled more than others in the beginning. I just ignored the WSOC commenter and posted mine above it (probably still in moderation). Didn’t have any trouble voting more than once in their poll, so assuming mine all went through.
I’m sure this probably has been suggested, but I’ll bring it up again. Saturday, being Sept. 11th would be a good time to request IWNSG at many of the radio stations and to dedicate it to all those who tragically lost loved ones. It’s a meaningful way we can honor them. The song fits so well with its message not only for those who were affected personally but for all of us who were so emotionally stricken that day.

I’m having trouble with Prospectors in trying to buy the tickets. I gave them my Master Card, they can’t get it to work. We`re all working hard for Danny, voting, requesting and trying to get support for him-no-one deserves it more- I have a lot of videos to catch up on,IE. no longer works for me, I have to use Firefox to see any videos, I have no idea why- Life is hectic at the moment, as I`m in the middle of moving- to my own little apartment-just myself and my little dog-It`s crazy here,daughter, her boyfriend, my grandson,and me 
It will give me chance to heal and still see my daughter and grandson every day-we all need our own space- and it`s near the sea, so ideal-but, as with every house move-it has been a bit of a nightmare! Taken nearly 6 months!! Cherie, I found it, believe it or not. “Mama” loves her country boys. She is an example of the road Danny has to travel to get acceptance in country music.
Last night I watched a little of the Blake Shelton special on GAC. Love Blake, but don’t think I would fit in too well with his fans. First, I don’t own a gun. Second, I only display my American flag on the appropriate holidays. Third, I love animals. Hi everyone! Great job on WSOC, WPOC and WDEZ Gokey voters! Hope this is a good night and we pick up some more. I spent most of my time on K102 this evening and put in a few requests, too. Also am so confused why the WMIL survey is not up. The DJ may not realize it either because he announced a little while ago that we could vote there!
I tried calling WMIL to make a request and it rang and rang and then it rang some more. Finally went into a push the button deal to request a song. Enter the first three letters of the artist or song…D-A-N…3 choices. The only one remotely close was Danny Gokey, MBDAAM. I was so annoyed I hung up and forgot to request it! So I called back. Same deal but this time I entered…I-W-I…2 choices. Neither one Danny. So I tried again and this time I was able to leave a voice message, which I did. We’ll see what happens.
Last night Firefox couldn’t find the Mediabase server for me so I couldn’t request that way at all

Chart studying post – skip if not interested
One other thing I wanted to mention. I was studying the spins and AI numbers and it looks to me, even though the spins are slightly down, the ones he is getting are giving him more AI per spin. So that is probably either due to higher ranking stations giving him more spins or the spins are coming at more favorable listening times. But since total spins is what keeps you on the chart, overnight spins really are important to the total if it’s easier to get those. You guys who follow the charts really closely probably have that figured out already. Do I have that right?

The problem with overnight spins though that when someone hears the song it’s suppose to lead to them buying it and requesting it people don’t do that it they are sleeping for the most part. Radio plays are suppose to equal more sales and more requesting which is why it’s important for us to request as much as we can especially right now.

It does worry me about IWNSGB losing adds and spins, but Danny’s fans are dedicated and all the hard work will hopefully pay off. I wish I had more time to request it myself, but I’m currently working two jobs and have no free time anymore and no days off.
I think a third single needs to be released soon, and I think it should be “Crazy Not To”–that song has hit written all over it. IWNSGB is a beautiful song but maybe it’s a little too sad for radio. I know it isn’t REALLY a sad song, but it’s somber and serious and maybe he needs something lighter and romantic, with just a touch of sexiness, and Crazy Not To fits the bill. I really think that could be his breakout hit. But how to convince Danny’s label of this?
I know this is a little random, but I’ve been coming to a realization. Danny is my favorite Idol of all time and this fanbase is the warmest and most welcoming fanbase ever. During season 9 I developed a bit of a crush on Lee, and thought for awhile that I would no longer be as obsessed with Danny and his career as I was. I figured I might follow the same pattern I did when I began to lose interest in David Cook and moved on to Danny. But this time it’s different. My interest in Danny has returned and is just as strong as it ever was and I’m just not all that interested in Cook or in Lee anymore. I’m still a fan of theirs and will probably buy their albums but there’s no obsession at all in either of them. But Danny holds my attention and my heart. I care about him as if he were a family member and think of him and pray for him every day. His music lifts my spirits in a way no one else has been able to do.
I also love this fanbase the most of any I’ve ever a part of. I always feel such warmth and feel good vibes here. David Cook’s fanbase is pretty pretentious in an offputting way, and Lee’s is just too young for this middle aged lady. I think of iheart as my home, and even if I don’t post here that much these days I always read all the posts as well as Steph’s incredible one-stop shopping Danny threads at MJs (which I copy and post on Danny’s forum at IDF). Danny fans are never rude or malicious or bash other idols or their fanbases. They can be honestly critical but never act haterish, and no doubt it’s because we know what it’s like for our favorite to be hated on so much but I also think Danny attracts the most kind-hearted people. Danny fans are the best and I’m so proud to be a part of this fanbase. Thanks so much!

I posted this last night, but I just want to remind us that we are comparing the posted chart’s spins of 723 for last week to whatever they are when it updates on Sunday, 9/12. Yesterday’s rolling total came to 717. And, the audience impression is currently higher than last week’s posted chart.
Like Josie, I’m confident that Danny and IWNSGB will come out just fine. He’s got way to much talent, charisma, and determination for RCA to waste!

Actually I have a question about media base forms. Can you only request at each station once a day? I do most of my voting after midnight. Somedays, like today, I can get a chance to do alot of voting throughout the day.

I had originally thought that Danny would get a third single. Now I’m not sure. I think it might depend on how well IWNSGB does. I think that if IWNSGB can make it to Top 30, Danny will have a better chance of getting a third single.
I know on mjs some people were predicting that Kris won’t get a third single because TT didn’t do well. Granted Kris is on a different label than Danny and in a different genre of music, but I wonder if the same thing could apply to Danny if IWNSGB doesn’t end up doing better than it is now. I hope that IWNSGB does do better and at least makes Top 30 and that Danny gets a third single.

County is different that Pop music though lots of people get singles if their songs end up on the 30/40 range even 50. Look at Josh Gracin’s single I’m not sure on when his last one got high. Country is different than the other idols. But it might be a while especially if he’s not touring at the time. There will be no need to get another single out right away. So the in between period might be longer. I haven’t heard of anything about Kellie Pickler next single.

It can’t be too hard to get IWNSGB into the Top 30! During the day I can’t do a thing but at night I can certainly help out with the polls and in fact I have been doing that. I want IWNSGB to be #1! Don’t know if that will ever happen but it can’t hurt trying.

It didn’t seem like it was going to be that hard a couple of weeks ago, but now it does look like it will be harder for Danny to make Top 30. I only think like maybe one person might go recurrent this week, plus there are people coming up behind Danny, who could pass him. JaneDear Girls look like they are close to passing him and could pass him soon.
I hope he does make Top 30, but if he does it’s going to take longer than what I thought/hoped for a couple of weeks ago. And he might struggle some more before he makes it.

Jan, I locked my car with it running too. One time I locked my car with my dog in it. I knew it right away, my keys were sitting next to her in the back seat. I put the keys down to put her seat belt on. Luckily it was not hot. She was looking at me with her head going back and forth like, why are you not getting in the car? Had a really mean locksmith. He hates foreign cars, the only reason he is helping me is because the dog is in the car. What a jerk.

I think he gets a decent amount of requests in Twin Cities because they’ve never been low. I think the lowest was the high teens as far as spins go. So they are playing it alot which leads to be believe that he’s getting some requests in. He probably needs more requests in that what he usually gets.
About KRTY he usually makes it but sometimes he doesn’t have it on twitter(on location at events). When he doesn’t tweet about it Danny doesn’t tend to make it on the countdown.
Nice to see you here Rowansmom and know what you mean about being able to stay away from Danny and Iheart – Danny and his fans are very welcoming. With that said, I agree with Steph that there is no guarantee that Danny will get a 3d single so we have to fight like heck for every spin because the better IWNSGB does, the better for Danny all around.
Pam, I am glad that you and Josie are so confident and yes Danny has loads of talent and charisma but the music business is ruthless and talent alone will not guarantee any artist a successful career as a recording artist. Danny needs hit songs and solid record sales for longevity. I think he needs to sell at least 250,000 to 300,000 for his label to get back the money they put into him. I do think that his strength is his live performances and as long as he can put butts in seats, he is making money for his label. Keeping fingers crossed he gets another opening gig for an established country act.

Danny’s talked about a third single already just not sure on which song it would be. I know that everyone’s not optimistic right now but it’s not over by a long shot not even close. MBD is stil considered a hit in the 20s as well as IWNSG when it peaks.

Yes, it always comes down to money, which is what I was referencing when I said bottom line, the label and industry want to make money. My point isn’t that talent and charisma alone are enough for success, it is that I think Danny has assets sufficient to warrant a period of investment for him that I think will give him a long enough runway to take off. But of course whether that is true or not true, we all want to take as much action as we can to, um, be the “wind beneath his wings”, lol! (that song is so hokey I know but I couldn’t resist!).
It gives me such a nice sense of accomplishment to make requests and then see those stations playing it – you all must feel that way too! Thanks to everyone who posts the “now playing” reports, that is really a motivator to see!
Cherie, Kellie Pickler’s next single will be probably be a lead off to her third album, possibly due out in early 2011. Her first album had 3 singles released and her 2d album had 4 singles released. Out of those 7 singles, she had one top 10, 4 top 20, 1 top 25 and 1 top 30, which was her last single.
Josh Gracin did really well in the beginning with a couple top 10 hits I believe. You cannot compare his latest single because he was dropped by his major label and is with a smaller label now and I doubt his latest has much chance to do well on the charts plus it was years between his last single and current one.

Something to also consider is that the chart fluctuates it’s not always the same. Artists can lose hundreds of spins in one day and go negative unexpectedly. So the gains that they have isn’t always the same.
Those artists with the CMA noms got the extra stuff with that, he’s not one of them. TS(entertainer cat), DR also not nom and not very high either. DR is higher right now than what he was yesterday. TS big thing was that she didn’t get it for entertainer of the year. I think this has to do the the CMA’s this time around.

Kathy(Phila) – funny…I have a similar story. It was a hot day I remember. I had the air on when I got out of the car for a minute. Our dog was also in the car and started to bark. She inadvertently pushed the lock on the driver’s door down in her excitement and you guessed it locked the car. Luckily the air was on! A nice policeman arrived and was able to unlock the door. Years ago you could use a wire coat hanger (unlike today)!! So happy ending to my story!!!!
Cherie, From what I have gathered a top 20/25 hit is considered a moderate hit for a new artist and a flop for an established artist who has had #1 hits.
Josie, I do agree that Danny has probably impressed enough people that he will be given ample time to prove himself. RCA gave Chris Young another chance with his second album and his first album did not do near as well as Danny’s has so far. My only concern is that the CEO of Sony Nashville has changed and Joe Galante who raved about Danny is gone plus Idol has changed to Universal Music Group so I’m not sure of the relationship now between Sony and 19 Recordings.
I also love seeing the posts with the songs that play IWNSGB, they make me happy.

Oh, Lizzy, I am not confident, I am just as much of a worrier as you are. I know that the music business is brutal, and there is no guarantee the label will push Danny like we want them to. For all we know, they’ve told Danny there is a plan, and there really isn’t one!
I just think they realize what they have, and how well he’s done considering the low PR and dealing with the “not country enough” label.
Danny is the ultimate optimist, so his talk of a third single is no guarantee. He truly does need IWNSGB to do well.
I am anxious too about the tour, we’ve heard nothing. It is a long way to a second album and he does need to hook up with a mentor/established act. Milgokey, yes, NCC comes out with a new music survey each week. I get it automatically sent to me at two different e-mail addresses. If IWNSG was ranked #18, then it’s moving up, because it used to be ranked #22. I do think, though, that the results are the previous week’s results.
KathyPA, yes, you can use the Mediabase forms to request more than once a day. I probably wouldn’t send a second request to the same station, though, until a few hours elapse in-between.
Jan, I understand your point about Danny retaining his bullet, but we still need to make sure he increases in spins, as well. Radio stations take their cue from those kind of statistics, and the last thing we need if for them to think that the song has peaked or for thwem to have any excuse to decrease spins. (It can easily become a death spiral.)

The only one who could go recurrent this weekend is Blake, and that’s only if they count him as down even while being #1 on the chart from two weeks ago. I’m not sure how that works, though he does have a new single due to come out soon so maybe they won’t care if he goes recurrent or not.
The only other one who was above Danny and down in last weekend’s final chart was Lee Brice. Lee could go recurrent later in the month. But overall right now I think it’s a lot more critical that Danny get back into positive numbers and keep moving upward, than where he falls on the chart.

Many of the idols have gottn love interests in their videos to include, David Cook, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, even Archie. I know that at least David Cook and Fantasia have actually kissed their love interests in videos.
I’m not sure how many more of the idols have kissed their love interests. Maybe Carrie/Kellie since they’ve both had several videos. It would be cool to see Danny get a love interest too, he could romance a pretty young lady.

Touring has been very successful for Danny, so I’d guess he will continue with it going toward the holidays.

I just want to comment that I don’t think “I Will Not Say Goodbye” is too sad of a song. (commenting on third single talk) When you look at some of the hottest songs on country radio “If I Die Young” The Band Perry, there songs with sad lyrics all over the top 40. Personally, I do not find IWNSGB to be a sad song, I find it inspirational.
All focus should be on this single now and worry about the third single when the time comes! IMO!

Michelle, I agree. I don’t find it sad, it feels empowering to me. If a radio station thinks it is sad though, there could be a question about two more serious songs on radio with TBP’s song that came out earlier. IWNSG has been a very well-received song for Danny in a lot of ways, getting critical and radio approval even though it hasn’t yet gone high on the charts. I hope and expect however things play out, it will have been beneficial for his career in the long run.

I agree that the song isn’t too sad. It’s not sad for the sake of being sad, I think it is healing to people because it offers acceptance of those difficult emotions that people sometimes turn away from because it’s painful to witness. Sometimes people need to hear “it’s ok to grieve and express those feelings of loss”.
In the beginning, I was one of the naysayers who was worried that IWNSG was too somber a song and that a lot of people might not routinely request it except on special occasions like the anniversary of a death. But after hearing IWNSG on WMZQ for about a week, I changed my mind. With repetition, the song does become empowering. I am convinced that if it gets a critical mass of airplay, it will start to take off on its own and fly. I don’t know how high it will go, but it definitely has potential to go higher than MBDAAOM. But I have no idea how we can get it up to that critical mass. We know that other people are requesting the song, because Cherie uncovered several programs/countdowns that we didn’t even know about, where Danny got a spin.

OMG, I go away for a couple hours and it is all doom, gloom, and Danny kissing some girl in a video in the future. Pam, if you are worried, it is making me start to worry.
I don’t know what Sugarland’s story is, but I do think it was a good fit for Danny. They are definitely not “old” country music. He needs to tour with country stars that are more current sounding like Lady A.
Danny is a really nice guy, but I am not sure that all the big acts that have made it are nice. They had to fight their way to the top, except Carrie, and they are holding on for dear life. They just keep churning out one song after another. At one time they were the ones that had trouble getting into the Top 30.
I hope Danny finds a true mentor that will help him in the music business. All we can do is keep voting and hope it works out.
Danny is a great entertainer and I think that will help him get tours and solo gigs. When I was a Allentown even though Lady A was the headliner, Danny had many people in their seats to see him too. Now I will go vote some more because that is something I can do to help.
Let’s take a deep breath. Get rid of the worry.

I’m on the Get Away band wagon for the next single, but whatever the label decides I’m ok with it. As long as Danny is out there promoting the album; I do so wish he could get Oprah, Jay, or maybe even Dr. Phil. Not that he needs Dr. Phil professionaly, I think he has a pretty good size audience that would love, love, love Dannys’ talent.

Just thinking this too. Danny’s backstory kind of makes it difficult for him to start romancing someone too much. I’d save Crazy Not To until later. Do a song a guy would like Life on Ya or Get Away. You can still have the girl and get a little flirty, but not like Chuck Wicks’video. That gives me the vapors. I don’t even like him that much, but that is hot. Danny has to work up to hot. A Keith Urban song, “I Want to Kiss a Girl” That’s sweet

KathyPA, you are too funny! I like Chuck Wicks & have his first CD but I’m not crazy about “Hold That Thought” — either the song or the video.
It’s way too early to think about a third single for Danny, though. And yes, I am a worrier, but I wouldn’t be very good at my job if I weren’t.
On a more serious note, I am very sorry about the PTSD. Although I don’t have PTSD per se, I can relate. I grew up with a violent sister. I have a highly-refined startle reflex. Any unexpected loud noises have me jumping two feet in the air, and it takes a while for the adrenaline to subside. One time a former coworker tapped me on the shoulder while I was going up some steps to cross a bridge. (I’m hearing-impaired, so I had not heard him approach.) I whirled around with my hands up in front of me, ready to push him away. This guy was 6’3″ and probably close to 300 lbs., but he recognized that in that split second, I was fully serious about defending myself. It was really embarrassing. I had to explain my OTT reaction. I also get occasional, rare nightmares about my sister. One time I woke myself up after I punched my fist into the wall, bloodying my knuckle in the process. In my dream, I was trying to defend myself from my sister.

Ellen, I can relate to your heightened startle reflex. Just tonight I am on the computer my back to the door and my husband asked me something. I had know idea he was there.
I almost flew out of the chair, my heart jumped in my throat.
All my senses are heightened since that horrible day. I am always looking for an exit and get worried when I see someone acting strangely. I do have dreams of being chased and trying to get away from someone who wants to harm me. More heightened when I see things on the news like what happened recently in CT when the employee killed 8 co-workers. Didn’t get to sleep that night.
Did your sister ever get help for her violence problem? That must have been awful to live under those circumstances. Did you scare the 6’3″ guy? He probably won’t do that again.
It always amazes me how the medical profession does not give the same credence to mental illness, like physical illness. Maybe there would be less violence in our society if they recognized the need for mental medical help.

Sorry, KathyPA, I don’t know whether you’ll see this. I just got home from work a little bit ago and decided to throw down a couple of votes on WSOC before I go to bed. (Can’t get in quite as many votes during the day because of the time differences between PST & EST.)
No, my sister never really got the help that she still needs. But you can understand why I live in Oregon and she lives in PA, can’t you?
Yes, actually, I did scare the 6’3″ guy, I think because my reaction was so out of proportion to a simple shoulder tap. He could see I was deadly serious about defending myself. I came so close to pushing him off the step. (Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t be able to do that. But because he was standing on a step, and I was one or two steps above him, I think he might well have lost his balance if I had pushed him.)
Where I work now, I’ve told my coworkers that I startle easily. I blame it on my hearing loss (which probably does contribute to the problem), although some of my coworkers know about my sister. I know it makes them feel bad when I overreact. I just brush it off and say that’s just the way I am and to ignore it.
I probably have some PTSD-like traits, even if I don’t have PTSD per se. (I don’t fit the criteria in DSM-IV, the psychiatric “Bible.”) So I probably do have at least a little bit of an idea of what you have experienced and continue to experience. It’s that hyper-vigilance.
(P.S.) I took a course in Law & Psychiatry in law school, which is where I first learned about the DSM. And it comes up a lot in my line of work.
