Hi everyone.
Danny went down some more spins and is now down 20 spins for the week. Keep requesting and voting on all the polls to help him out with spins, including the Charlotte and Minneapolis ones. And maybe we might have to start tweeting IndianaAL after 7pm Pacific Time (10 pm Eastern Standard time) with our requests for IWNSGB.
He didn’t ask for requests on Twitter yesterday but he still had a countdown. Maybe we might have to Tweet him some time before the countdown starts so that he will take that into consideration when he’s making the countdown.

I am really unsure what is going on, Lee Brice dropped 140 spins from yesterday and the same with Uncle Kracker. There are several songs that are down today that sre not usually down.

For those who have time, I’d really encourage trying to request Danny’s song from your area radio stations for the morning and afternoon times as well as focusing on the evening countdown spins, which are great but may not have as much potential to gain audience impression.

I’m going to include the stations that I’ve seen it play during the day today that seemed to help out before. Daytime spins are wonders I can tell.
Boston already played it this morning during rush hour very nice.
Even though he’s down more today we did gain some of the it back for the last 2 previous days so I know that our efforts are working. Plus we’ve made the countdowns more last night that any other day that I can recall.

Danny got a morning drivetime spin in Boston.
I send emails to various DJ’s at my local stations – to the morning show DJ’s, mid-day DJ’s and afternoon DJ’s – not so much the evenings since he is on the countdowns in both DC and Baltimore. I usually two different email accounts, work and home and vary them so that none get sick of me. So far it has been working.

On a normal week I would say this wasn’t a bad update as several stations added spins yesterday, but for some reason this is adding up to the perfect storm. I agree with all of the above to start sending emails or tweets as we need to add the personal touch. KEEP REQUESTING!!! and keep faith this will turn around.

Good Morning, got home last night just about 12 hours of travel but it was so worth it had a delay with one of my flights. I just watched the interview with Ashley (funny but unable to hear a lot of it) and loved watching the Wynonna video so happy for Danny that he was able to sing for her and finally meet her. Thank You Katlee for finding it. I haven’t told this story but in my travels at an airport this year I swear I thought I saw WY (or at least an identical look-a-like) she walked right past me and was walking with a young girl could possibly have been her daughter. WY has a distinctive face and smile and I am pretty sure it was her.

Sharon, read your post from last night 8:25pm glad you returned home safely after such a long drive from the Madison concert and you have some wonderful memories. So happy I was able to meet you and your husband. Otherwise I will send it to Erika and she will forward the picture to you.

While IWNSGB may be down 20 spins–many of those are from my fickle station dropping 10 spins sincer they are done promoting the Taste of Madison. They climb to 20 plus and then drop to 11! The other station is more constnt and stay for the long haul.

This is going to be more than normal if anyone has time to req these today esp multiple times it won’t hurt at all. Not necessarily because he’s down but to try and find the magic station that will play it alot so we can support them. Ex for every request on WUBL in Atlanta equals one vote and the most votes get played on the countdown at 5pm. So that’s what I mean by using MB multiple times if you’re able to at all. I’m highlighting the countdown shows in bold which I think are effected by requesting as I think those are really important today. So if someone is lacking time I would go with the highlighted ones.
Also bringing over Lizzy’s suggestion from last night to try the Big Time with Whitney Allen I think that show has the highest chance to get it played. I don’t think he has much chance of being played in Lia’s for reasons.

One tip I have for us voting on WSOC is that we can vote for on it once we first come on this site in the morning. If we vote for it like when we first come onto the site, and when we do the starter stuff like vote on GAC, we’re less likely to forget to vote for him on it.
I think it’s easier to forget voting on a once a day poll, then it is on a poll where people are constantly allowed to vote.
Even though this poll is like only once a day poll, I don’t think it’s that hard for us to get Danny up there.
I just think as many of us as possible need to vote on it at least once daily. I think he didn’t make it in the past, because enough of us weren’t voting on it. (Some of us were probably focusing more on voting on the polls where we can vote multiple times.)
I am glad they mentioned Danny being #1 on their site. Some people will notice that and maybe check out Danny’s song.
Plus if he we can keep him #1 or at least high up on the WSOC Countdown maybe they will start to play his song more during the daytime. Like WPOC has started to do, because we are keeping Danny #1 on that countdown.

I didn’t see it last night though when I checked so when they start it is questionable esp for the weekends. Last weekend they really confused me.

I understand everyones’ frustration when requesting tunes. My experience seemes to be on par with everybody eles; either they are very nice and responsive or they really are not interested in us as the listening public.

However I keep requesting because I am an optimist and I believe that they will have to put up and play him before I will shut up…….Honestly I really have never understood the silence and the refusal at least here to give him airplay. Katlee I too have sent emails to Oprah because I think Danny should be on her show. I wrote a long one suggested she do a show about people who give back to communities and I sited SHF as an example of how Danny gives back. You are so right about how it seems like what Danny does would be perfect for the Oprah show. She does love giving back. I also think she would be very moved by his music. I keep hoping if she sees enough requests, she will take action! I am not giving up! In each of my requests to her I attach one of his videos so that whoever reads the emails might open it and fall in love with his music and see what we all see!

I forgot to mention this before but Lee’s song took a big hit and now is down -150 when he was positive yesterday so this could change overnight-going from positive to negative and vice versa. We’ll see on how he does I thought his was done before and it wasn’t. This is alot to recover from though. Glad Danny only has 20.

Katlee, you won’t regret getting an M&G, I promise! Danny is not like a lot of other celebrities. He genuinely loves meeting people, and is very down-to-earth. Think of him as the boy (man) next door. There is nothing to be shy about! (And yes, contrary to what people may think on iheart, I’m shy too.) You can tell him about your husband, or what songs are your favorites, or how you are trying to get him played on satallite radio. Invite him to Long Island! I think Asics invited him to the Pacific Northwest. (And he’s coming in October to the PNW in British Columbia, Canada! Although probably not just because Asics invited him.)

I have been voting on the WMZQ today along with the WDEZ poll. I noticed a couple of hours ago that the numbers were going down. I have noticed that everyday about this time the numbers go down and it’s hard to get them back up. That’s crunch time for the Keith fans, I guess.

Helping out with the voting of course by Boston looks like they played it again. If I counted right that would be 4x today or at least 3 if I counted wrong. I haven’t seen a station played it like that during the week.
Also is looks like the times are really off on radiotime so if someone looks back at it, that part might not be right.

I started voting and then the WMZQ voting page disappeared! I thought this one went to the wire (as opposed to WPOC, which seems to reset at odd times). The margin is not high enough for safety. Kat once mentioned the vote spread, and a 4% or 5% lead did not equal that much of a vote differential (hard votes as opposed to percentages).

Lizzy they are but it’s not set to daytime/afternoons yet. We’re still evening/overnights except for weekends. The PD is off this week and I’m not sure if anyone is going to change it since he’s off. It would be nice if someone else did it. But I don’t know if that’s going to happen. I think it’s too soon for it to be played on the early morning program that they have.
This is also why I think the top 8 form is gone for the week. But they added his song to radiotracks so someone has to be paying attn.
If anyone hasn’t rated it for us please do so all of us appreciate it who have been trying to get them to play it.

I am thinking about getting Danny some Grilled Sticky Buns from Penn State’s Ye Olde College Diner. They are a tradition and are delicious, especially when you grill them in butter.
Would love to get him some Peachy Paterno Ice Cream too from the PSU Creamery, that would be too difficult. However, if he ever performs at the Bryce Jordan Center on the PSU campus, he will get some. It is addictive.

Luke’s song was #1 WSOC last week so Danny took the top spot from him yesterday. Luke has his time but he has the stuff from the CMA nom. I really want Danny to get it back.

Hi Toni, glad you are home safe and so good to meet you. The wind was something else coming home but did have a break as I shared we stopped in Ames to visit friends, then came home. Would love that pic I will contact Erika so you can send it to us.
Jason from Q106.3 sent me a reply to my e-mail thanking him for the Meet and Greet with Danny. In part he mentioned to my question of having Danny back next year. They like to rotate the talent each year but if Danny does come back looks forward to seeing us and all who came, great group.
We were able to talk to Jason Sunday morning and did find out how the station programs there songs. A total of 250 people make up there demographics, locally. What those people ask for or prefer is what is played.
I was able to talk with Matt and Ivan for a second they signed my goofy sign, just so friendly and nice. I will be holding my breath to hear if Danny will be with the Judd’s. That would be so wonderful and if anyone would give him a opportunity it would be them. Just depends I think what they want there tour to look like. They will be in my area Dec 5th.
Is the video’s of Danny at Madison on youtube? Does anyone know? Would love to download them, they are all great, my little camera picked up fairly well. But, to much bumping for me to get a good shot and of course the one security guy was right in line.

Also, Steph made a comment the other day about the mediabase forms do we really know what happens to them – I know that they are easy but I don’t think they are as good as a phone calls, sending emails, tweets, using facebook to contact radio stations directly. I am wondering if we should rethink our strategy. Like maybe dividing up radio stations to contact directly, what do you guys think?

Cherie, What a horrible time to have the PD director at WMIL on vacation. Danny needs those good spins now. I have been told over and over that WMIL will come thru for Danny – maybe we all should bombard them with emails.

MB does work I’m positive on that just because I started very early on this and watching it overly closely. However I think that they only take so many requests from one person so if they see your name every day that might not be good. Like the suggestions for using other information might not be bad. Twitter, facebook, emails, texting I’ve seen work better but I can say MB forms do work to what extent I’m not sure of. I know it seems they don’t but they do.
But if stations DONT want to play them there’s nothing we can do but try again. It’s volume that he needs to kick those.
The one thing I’m uncertain about the MB is write in’s. The smaller stations seem to notice them but I don’t think the bigger ones do. The reason is that lots of people are trying to write their songs in to get them played.
The limited requests does seem to be with any type of requests but various with the station La only takes 6 texts messages a week all the others I’ve heard of are umlimited.

Steph, I am also hoping that RCA asked Danny to tweet and not him deciding on his own. At least if someone from the label asked him that would mean they still plan onn promoting the song. Sometimes mediabase and Billboard will cut songs some slack when they struggle if they know the label still plans to promote the song. I wish we knew what RCA was up to.

Paula, if my memory is serving me correctly I think he did tweet about requesting the first single, pretty early on.
I’m really glad he sent that tweet, it doesn’t make me sad. I admire the fact that he is fighting in every way to keep moving forward. He pours his heart into his shows and being kind to his fans and everything he does, and I like seeing him use every angle he’s got. I wish there were no times that his song was down on spins of course, I want it to be easy for him. But it doesn’t have to be, I think he’s going to make it even if it is a tough climb at times.

Oh, I assume everyone knows this already, but IWNSG is #1 on WMZQ.
I think it’s possible RCA promotion is behind Danny’s tweet. Other country stars use twitter to ask for requests to radio and to ask fans to buy. Perhaps the label was also responsible for Danny’s invitation to Wynonna’s event. They were many executives and power makers involved, people that Danny’s label might contact. I believe the ACC pick of the week could also have been a label push. In my opinion the ACC thing is a big deal and did not happen randomly. Danny’s name has been on the Kix Brooks page all week. Lots of people see it. I work on that poll often. There are big country names on that page every day. This week, Danny has been one of those names.
Paula, I would think Danny requesting his followers to request IWNSGB has much more to do with the song being down in spins and the need for the song to regain it’s bullet and stay on the charts.

He tweeted the iheart stuff when he was down the first time. He just pays attn to what’s going on which I really like.
Sometimes you can miss stuff that can come back to hurt you, I missed two things already recently which were not good for him one was really bad. And I still feel very guilty about that but what’s done is done and can’t be changed.
Lizzy- you are probably right. I hope his label starts moving mountains for Danny. I think he has held up his end of the bargain. It will be interesting to see at the end of the week how it all works out.

Thanks for trying Boston again tonight I think there overnight spin count was 1 so I think there done for tonight if they hadn’t played it again already but they did really good today.
Cherie, do not feel bad! You are amazing! You do tons of stuff for Danny. You can’t be everywhere at once, and you can’t do everything. Danny — in part — needs a larger fanbase of active fans who are willing (and have the time) to do the types of things we do. And he also needs his label to act. Maybe RCA has been concentrating on different things, and maybe they will get into the act now. But let me remind everyone that as of 8/31/10, I was told point blank that the label wasn’t pushing IWNSG. The DJ was sympathetic, but the way he said it, it sounded like the label wasn’t pushing the song on country radio, not KUPL in particular. I hope the drop in spins provides a much-needed wake-up call to RCA.

That’s weird it was a while ago and it’s still countdown only. I wouldn’t thought they would play it by now.
I think there’s an important lesson to learn from what happened to Allison. It seems more and criticism is now surfacing about her problems connecting with fans, her awkward performance style, etc. In hindsight, I hope she was getting this constructive feedback from her mgmt. I hope she was not so protected by her fans and her team and put in a bubble – that it was too late to turn things around.
That said, and around the angst re IWNSG, IMO it really comes down to song choice and what will have the most COMMERCIAL appeal.
Danny’s 3rd single needs to be about nothing more than just pure entertainment. No more sad songs. No more heavy songs about life’s journey.
Danny’s single should be about fun and romance – always very popular themes. I want him to dance, laugh, kiss the girl in the video.
This is how he will able to reach a much broader audience.

Ellen, I absolutely agree that there is no need for guilt. We work very hard for Danny, and happily so. About that DJ, honestly I take that with a grain of salt. If the DJ is also the station’s program director, he would know what the label is pushing to the station. But I don’t see how he would be privy to the label’s strategy about promoting the song. I also think those guys have motivation to tell a disgruntled listener something that will get them off the phone mad at someone else besides the DJ or the station, kwim?
I think you are right, IAMG. I love your comment about kiss the girl! I wonder if Danny would be comfortable doing that.

His second single is connecting to people though it’s not done yet. That’s not the issue at hand. It’s getting people to hear it and getting it around circulating it(label stuff but we can still do our part).
Not everyone likes sad songs but The house that built me was the song at #1 the longest this year during the summer and it’s not a summer song. So those type of songs do get to people.
I’m expecting his plays to be up on Saturday it might be a heartbreaking reason though but I’m expecting it. He should be recovered by Saturday. I would request it as much as you can in the mean time and creatively helps.

Josie I really like that analogy sometimes you do need to take what they say with a grain of salt. You know if you’re requesting. But sometimes it is hard to tell if they are being truthful to you or not. I do think sometimes they just want to get rid of you.
I also believe that sometimes hands are tied and songs can not be played even if they wanted them to be. So it’s hard to tell which is which.
I never said the DJ was privy to the RCA’s strategy. I do think they know when a song is being pushed, though. I truly believe that the DJ was being honest with me. I could tell he felt bad that he couldn’t help me and I never felt like he was trying to get me off the phone. It was the music director who earlier had lied (by implication) to me, and yes, I think the music director probably was trying to get rid of me.

Sometimes it just really takes a while a long wait, long. I haven’t been able to get his song played once on Milwaukee. I’m still waiting. So Ellen don’t feel bad I can’t get it played on my station either.
Although I do wonder if any of my requests for IWNSG turn into plays for MBD that I wasn’t expecting.
I think the DJ would have played IWNSG for me if it had been his decision to make. I think his hands were tied by station policy. But I also think he was doing more than shifting blame and trying to get me mad at someone else. I think he was honestly explaining why KUPL wouldn’t play IWNSG. The label wasn’t pushing the song and it wasn’t being requested. (Of course, the latter explanation is circular — who will request it if it’s never played?)

Ellen, I agree; an active fan base is helpful and unfortunately an American Idol fanbase often consists of many who move on to the next flavor of the season, which doesn’t help. As time goes on, Danny will obtain more non – Idol fans which will help.
I am G- I have said that about Allison too- where was her management in helping her improve her stage presence?
Re 3rd single; I also agree and I know we had a big “discussion” here when debating the second single. But I can’t see any reason why IWNSGB shouldn’t be successful-it’s a beautiful song, it has good call out scores and more than one DJ/blogger has said it will be his claim to fame. I hope RCA isn’t taking low single sales as a sign that it won’t be popular once it gets decent airplay.
Lizzy, re WFMIL; I don’t think you can blame them- it isn’t really their responsibility to track Danny’s total spins and make sure he stays positive (not that I have big love for the station or anything
). It sounds from Danny’s comment to Jan that they were holding back (presumably at the request of the label) and it would be the label’s responsibility to push them to kick it into gear.
He has 3 more days to get positive, right? Hopefully it is just a bump in the road from CMA noms and holiday weekend.
If he ends the week down then that will be two weeks in a row right for Billboard and that’s it?

Hallo everyone-due to health and family issues, I have been absent for a long time-but I have read the comments every day, watched the videos, VOTED, when I can- I just dropped by tonight as I`ve seen a few comments about `Europe`-As you all probably know by now, DGEurope.com has started a Facebook page for Danny-We were undecided whether to bother-but came to the conclusion that, even if we are,seemingly, being ignored by Management and RCA-Danny`s European fans deserved it! Nice to see so many of you `LIKE` our page, it`s early days yet-
Erik, the album is expensive here because it is an `import`-and Cherie, thankyou for mentioning the Irish radio station-
There are MANY more stations who want to play Danny-but they want his album-We have been `gifting` the single, but we can`t do that with the album- I am well aware that RCA want Danny`s career firmly established in the USA before any overseas concerts- although, from what I`ve read here lately, seems they aren`t doing a great job- BUT, what`s the sense in not,at least, giving the radio stations here the album? Cross-Rhythms is one example- Danny has a growing fanbase here who WANT TO HEAR HIS MUSIC PLAYED-and I hope RCA can afford to be so `picky`-because,when he DOES come here-I`m not sure the radio stations will be too keen to play his music-

That’s only ONE spin less than the published chart! So unless I’m messed up, all we need is to beat 723 spins and the AI of 3.834. We are up on AI. It may slide in placement on the chart, but the minimum goal is a bullet.
So, my take is that we should not be sad or despair. We need to compare apples to apples.

Ellen that’s funny because that’s how I found out he was on WSOC because of them. I think we’ve helped each other out at times. Luke and Eric are the ones to watch for one that-WSOC esp Luke. TBP usually get K102 which take alot of votes up. So I don’t tend the worry about those guys cause I know that one takes alot of effort for K102.

So if what Jan is saying is true, it is a given that he will be up spins on Sunday? Since he is only one behind? Sounds too easy.
Even so, stations use mediabase to place his song and he needs the progressive movement and adds to keep moving up. He could move down on the chart even if he beats the lower spin count last week.

Pam, Working my way through the posts. The carmel corn I gave Danny was in a tub that was sealed and it was wrapped with decorative cellophane. The fudge was in a box not sealed though, but wrapped in tissue paper inside the box.
Grilled stickies are in a sealed package. That should be okay. Thanks for letting me know, I would hate to get him something he couldn’t eat.
Although the way he was diving into those chicken livers and funnel cake, I don’t think he has the self control to not eat food in front of him.

Please ignore this post if you’re not into the chart discussions!
Its never a given that we will be up on spins, because the spins for the chart are based on actuals–if the bottom dropped out of IWNSGB on the remaining days of this week, the single would come in under today’s rolling totals for the final 7 days of the rolling chart.
But the 15 spins we were down on Sunday don’t matter anymore. It lowered the base we need to meet or beat for the next published chart. Another way to look at it, are “standards” were lowered by last Saturday’s low spin totals. We don’t have to make those up. But of course we want to! That’s why a low spin day will look bad for the next 6 days until it drops out of the rolling totals.
Its still VERY important that the spins grow aggressively on the mediabase chart. We want to see that IWNSGB is vibrant and growing in popularity.

I think Danny probably knows he shouldn’t eat unpackaged food from fans—but I agree with you Kathy. Anyone that dives into chicken livers from a carnival vendor is not going to toss out the fudge you thoughtfully purchased for him! Unless he does get worried about his waistline again, LOL!

Tomorrow has got to be a better day! How’s this for a laugh? So I’m at work and I go to the ladies’ room and realize I left my key card in my office, which means I can’t get back to my office or any other nonpublic space in the building. Our offices are behind a security door. Not only can’t I get back to my office, but I can’t go home, either, because I left my keys (both car & apartment) on my desk, in the office I can’t get into. All I have is a dying cell phone! So I call one of only about two local phone numbers that I have memorized. (No, of course I don’t have any numbers programmed into my cell phone — a pay-as-you-go TracPhone — because I am a luddite and technology befuddles me!) I call a friend and asked her to look up the home phone number of the maintenance guy — who fortunately I am friends with. Meanwhile my cell phone is gasping its last breath. Thank goodness I found a regular phone on the security guy’s desk. It’s dark and I can barely see to dial. I call my friend back, and she gives me the number. I call, and the maintenance guy’s wife — who I’ve fortunately met before and who has the same first name as my friend — answers. I identify myself and tell her breathlessly, “I’m in deep doo-doo!” She gets maintenance guy on the phone, and he drives back to work to let me into my office.
(The blush icon is too happy. I am so embarrassed!) Anyway, all is well that ends well. (Hopefully that will be true for Danny, too.)

Kathy, my suggestion is to use the prioritized mediabase list,and work on “red” ones for about 40 minutes and then start on the “green” ones for the rest of the time. The “red” ones will encourage stations that haven’t added his song yet to do it. The “green” ones have added it and are probably more likely to play a request, so I like to be sure to hit those too to try to influence the spin count.

I’ll tell you, one advantage to growing up in a working class family is that I’ve never made the mistake of thinking that someone in that kind of job isn’t as likely to be every bit as smart and interesting as the ones with the fancy titles. Is there a New York City market? I think that IWNSGB could be played many times on 9/11. It is definitely appropriate.

Kathy, there’s not a monitored country station in NYC. It would be interesting to know why, I have no idea. You’ve probably noticed that the prioritized list has the market rankings – each category is sorted by market size, so the biggest markets are at the top. I think there are all kinds of good ways to approach requesting, and I’m sure it all helps!

Josie, I have started to write in the comment section that IWNSGB is a tribute to 9/11 victims. Also been looking in red markets with large military bases.
Josie, I too, come from a working class background. Both my grandfathers worked the PA coal mines. My father worked in a factory. I’m the first person on my Dad’s side of the family to graduate from college. (My mother’s sister did go to college, though.)
As for my friend the maintenance guy, he is really interesting. He did work in the rat race at one time. He knows Syriac and tries to study the Bible in the original languages. He’s older than me, so more a product of the 60s. He writes mostly rock, some folk, and some Christian music. His lyrics are incredible! Country is not his thing. He thought MBDAAOM would sound rockish without the steel guitars. He likes ISB & Get Away. Thinks Danny is very talented but sees him as more a blue-eyed soul singer. (I’d shown him some AI performances. Loved CROCS & Renegade. And yes, I gifted MBD to he and his wife.
