Still hard to tell if the C&C spins counted from yesterday as we don’t knoww if all of the monitored stations that carry the show played it yesterday. Almost back in the positive territory I’m glad the negative amount that he needs has been small when MBD went negative at around top 40 I don’t remember that amount being small. We’re almost there he just needs requesting this week for those that have time to.
He also hasn’t made the top 8 in Milw for a while this may or maybe be one of the reasons why they decreased it a little but it’s a online daily survey if anyone hasn’t signed up at http://eteam.fm106.com/asp2/Register.aspx
After you sign up and loged in it’s under Surveys and then top 8. It goes away around 7-8pm cst and gets added sometime in the morning. It’s currently not there but will be.
The poll to twin cities is still not open in case requests factor in to whether he makes it or not on that one. I added the station to the req suggestions if anyone can send them multi requests today.

The only thing I can say this morning is request request request and vote vote vote. Let’s see if we can help Danny’s song get back in the positive today. He is only down 8 spins BUT IWNSGB is the only song except for a few in the top 10 that is down in spins on the top 40 chart and there are three songs below him that are up 100 spins and gaining quickly. I would like to see some sort of push from RCA this week and some decent adds this week also.

Danip, thanks for the report on the AI. It will be interesting to see how things look toward the end of the week, after any holiday weekend peculiarities in the chart shake out.
Some artists don’t seem to have been much affected but I noticed Toby Keith for one lost like a 100 spins off his margin from yesterday. Lee Brice moved back up a little to regain his bullet, but Uncle Kracker appears to be on the serious downslide. John Rich also came out of negative numbers.
Confusing, but shows there is movement up and down. So go Danny! Hopefully some RCA peep is coming in to work today and will be working the phones, assuming they aren’t intentionally letting Danny’s numbers idle to let Chris Young get out some distance ahead.

That was a cute interview with Ashley, but it was very difficult to hear- had the same problem with bus noise that we had for the iheart interview. Will have to watch again to pick up more after I do more requesting. Was hoping there was some actual information to be had, but more of a fun interview. It’s so funny how Danny kept eating through the whole thing!
At least the AI is going up. Monday’s generally are a down day- let’s hope he gets some adds this week (wonder if they will be low for everyone because of the holiday?) and more spins- not happy about the Janedear girls passing him in spins

Well my hope is they are not letting him slide for that reason, since I can understand holding back a surge, but letting it fall into negative numbers is not good planning. I’m not so sure that they are working Chris’s song so much as he is benefitting from the nomination this week. The surge I don’t get is for the Janedear Girls, it is a monotonous song that not very good but has made a real surge in the last couple of weeks.
It could be becuse they are a young group, and I understand that they were included in a national campaign for Hot Topic(?) a clothing line geared towards teens.

Just watched the Ashley interview and thought if not informative it was definitely fun. She seemed very relaxed around them (something I couldn’t pull off just asking for an autograph)
. What I enjoyed most about the video was getting an idea of who his band is. I’ve seen many interviews with Danny beginning with Idol, however getting an idea of the guys in the band was nice.

Fun interview with AINow but I do need to watch it again because I couldn’t understand all that was being said. I also thought it was funny that Danny kept on eating away. lol. It’s interesting to see Danny’s audience impression the highest it’s ever been, even though he’s still down in spins. Is there any station with a high market rank that’s been playing his song more lately? Or playing his song at better times?

Chicago played it an extra spin his highest AI I think it still from all the Boston spins. I think more are playing it during the day/evening as time goes in, in place of some overnight spins.
Boston and Atlanta are his highest AI markets really playing him. I would say Dallas but their still mostly overnights.
Just checked the add board with 56% in and no adds for Danny yet – booo!! IWNSGB needs to get some adds today or I will be really worried. Come on RCA – get on the dang phone already. On positive note, glad to see the audience up. Danip, did you find out if Danny had a bullet on Billboard yet? I will feel much better if I know he kept his bullet on Billboard when losing it on mediabase.

Doing good today all the requesting has been working slowly his adds are probably going to be slow until he gets the top 30 which will be a while. I’m not expecting that many this week. It looks like Blake is the only one to leave at the end of the week.

Tags56, we don’t get to pick Danny’s venues, and I doubt that his managers lurk here. But I feel your pain! Danny doesn’t get to the West Coast very often, and when he does, it’s usually California, not the Pacific Northwest. In fact, I will be traveling to Canada to see him at the end of October! I know not everyone can travel, though. I hope Danny will soon come to a venue near you! Keep the faith that it will happen!

Has anyone noticed the WDEZ poll this morning has another change. Now when you click vote, instead of clicking return to poll it says ‘create your own poll’ so to get back to the page to vote again, you now have to refresh. That’s just one more step to deal with. The vote and “return to poll” button was right in the same spot. Are they trying to make it more difficult? Yep, I think they are. That’s the third change, it went from the roaming names on the page to the videos added along with the roaming names and now the refresh button instead of the “Return to Voting Page” button. In my opinion, this station is not People Friendly.

Asics, It’s good to have my voting buddy back. Yes I agree they must stay up late at night thinking of ways to make it more challenging and to make us crazy.
It would be awesome if we could come up with a way to bypass all of their bull, excuse the expression, and come up with a trick to make it faster and easier.
The WSOC poll is still showing September 3rd. Is that the correct poll? Also, it is showing “Create You Own Poll,” just like WDEZ. So I’m guessing that is something new that PollDaddy, the software, is doing. BTW, the grammatical error is in the original. Folks at PollDaddy need some grade-school grammar lessons!

Ok, peeps, we had some answers about what we can do to get Danny on syndicated programs from Danny’s management.
Basically the label books spins on those and they’re also based on the charts. A radio is subscribed to one or more charts (Bob Kingsley, Kix Brooks, Blair Gardner) so if Danny makes it in one of those they will play it.
Fans cannot directly impact what’s played on the syndicated programs except buying records, requesting to your radio directly, etc that would put him on the charts to begin with. So requesting directly to the syndicated programs seems a waste of time. We better concentrate on local country stations or the few national ones.

Panic is setting in – I need some reasonable people to talk me out of what I am thinking. With over 70% of stations reporting Danny has no adds and Chris Young has 7 and Gwyneth Paltrow has 7. Could it be that RCA is only pushing those two songs and they are going to let Danny’s just die like they did Jake Owens and Chuck Wicks. I always watch the adds and MBDAAOM always received at least one add until right before it went recurrent. I notice that once songs stop receiving adds they go recurrent. I am wondering the the new CEO who replaced Joe Galante is not as patient with songs on the radio. I noticed that Kellie Pickler’s songs have always made top 20 but not this time. Jake Owens’ songs have always made top 20 but not this time. Tell me I’m overreacting and that I’m wrong. I just had to vent.

Lizzy, he’s still doing good. I wouldn’t panick if he doesn’t get any this week. He’s not Jake or Chuck. He still performs to packed audiences.
Danny for sure was ok with things this week and there’s a reason for that. So if he’s good with it we should be as well. But it doesn’t hurt to come up with other ideas though it’s all good for him.

Country radio is and will always be slow except for a few no matter how fast we want it to happen it just works out that way. His AI is up so something is working right here. His song went up the chart really fast in the beginning and is slowing down a bit that’s how I look at it. His song isn’t being excluded this time around just slow.
Even if he gets no adds this week country radio has been responding better for IWNSG than they ever did for MBD. I think they really like it.
Some of it has nothing to do with him or his single(the overcrowding on the charts). Which I think had alot do to with what happened to Kellie?
Oh, (insert expletive here)! I forgot about Joe Galante leaving. Your observations are on the money, Lizzy. So I guess I am sharing your panic. The only thing I can think of to rebut that is that Danny seems to be under the impression that RCA has a plan. (But would he really know for sure, or could his label be fobbing him off?) That, and it really doesn’t make good business sense to throw Danny under the bus now. They’ve invested a lot of time and money in Danny (radio tour, occasional jet). Danny has the singing talent and proven ability to put butts in concert seats. If they don’t want to develop new artists they shouldn’t sign them in the first place. They should stick with the heavy hitters if they don’t want to do the work. But then, they’ll never discover the next Taylor Swift that way, either!
Was it Danip’s article about the industry that noted how independent labels are more loyal and develop their artists, versus major label that see what sticks to the wall? I read that somewhere and I remember being shocked, thinking it would be the other way around.
But Cherie, the overcrowding on the charts will affect Danny as well as Kellie.

I can’t remember if I voted on the Milw. survey today. I must have because I logged on to do it and it wouldn’t bring up the survey. My memory must be getting worse. When they spoke about the syndicated shows it looks like the focus was on the countdown shows, did they mention anything about the overnights such as After Midnight and Big Time Saturday Night.
Lizzy I am unsure what is happenng today, it looks like all of the established songs are taking a bit of a hit, with all the new songs on the radio. As I mentioned earlier I am a bit surprised they let the song go negative this week and hope it is just a matter of it catching them by surprised. I don’t worry to much about the adds as that is no ga\uarantee they will play the song. One of the non monitored adds last week has yet to play the song.

MBD has the airplay at 79 spins both unmon/mon spins on a national level, I think it was around 80′s last week on USA today. So it’s really not being played that much expect for a few stations.
I know that you all want to stay optomistic and I will try as well. However, I know that getting no adds is a bad sign for a song, especially when it is already struggling on the charts. I was hoping that RCA would have enough faith in I Will Not Say Goodbye because it is a really good song that they would push thru the low sales and slow movement on the charts but to see Chris Young;s Voices (which is a mediocre song IMO) get 10 adds and Gwyneth Paltrow’s get 9 adds this week I am not as hopeful as I once was that they have a plan for Danny’s single. I hope I am proved wrong – believe me I want to be. By no means do I think they are throwing Danny under the bus yet because he is great in concert and getting butts in seats but maybe they don’t want to throw money into his single – I just don’t know. Plus I don’t think Danny would tell any of his fans whether he thought his song was in trouble – why would he?

For every bad sign there’s a good sign or maybe two for every bad one. There’s plenty of them I know sometimes the bad tends to stick out more than the good.
Example this past week his AI is important because it moved upward instead of the other direction. Although I know that we’re still waiting for hear from Billboard.

I remember Danny didn’t say anything when MBD went not a word nothing good nor nothing bad. He didn’t speak up on twitter about it unlike what he’s doing now. I don’t think his single is in trouble plus non verbal communication says alot as well. His was appreciation for us and completely positive. His facial expression said it all for me. I hate to be a Debbie Downer (with apologies to anyone named Debbie who may be lurking), but I think there is real cause to be concerned. We know for a fact that RCA was not “pushing” IWNSG as of 8/31/10, a week ago, and that some stations won’t play the song without that push.
We don’t know for sure whether or not RCA was “pushing” the singles “Tell Me” by Jake Owens and “Hold That Thought” by Chuck Wicks, but both songs collapsed shockingly early. The fact that that happened to not one but two of Danny’s labelmates is not a good sign. Neither song was a top 10 song, IMO, but both should have done better than they have. It is especially scary for Chuck Wicks, because that was his first single off a new album (as opposed to Jake Owen, where it was his third single from his 2nd album, I believe). According to a column I read (I think Kix Brooks), sometimes if the lead single off a new album doesn’t do well, the label will decide not to release the album.
As far as Danny being in the know, I kinda doubt it. Like a wronged spouse, I suspect the artist is the last to know. I keep thinking of Steve Azar being awakened in the middle of the night by his peeps to personally request “Sunshine” from one or more West Coast radio stations, because his song was down in spins and it was crunch time. He had no idea what was going on except what his peeps told him. I’m sure Danny checks the charts, but I doubt he analyzes things as closely as we do. For one thing, he’s too busy playing concerts, doing interviews, etc.
All of that said, although I think there is legitimate reason for concern, there is no reason to panic just yet. (In particular I wouldn’t panic about the lack of adds just yet. But he really needs to get some for next week.) And whether we label it concern, worry, or panic, what good will it do us? There are only so many of us. We are already doing everything we can to ensure Danny’s success. In the greater scheme of things, it’s out of our hands.

Just called Prospectors and ordered three tickets for Danny’s show. They give you a wristband to go in and out. To get close to the stage it is first come, first serve. He said Danny was on at 9PM, but the info on Danny’s site I think says 9:30, maybe there is an opening act. Suggested we should eat dinner there, think it is a good idea since we will be there earlier to get our stage spot. I will need to make reservations for dinner a week prior to the show. Let me know if you are interested.
The manager asked me if the three people were over 21.
I told him “Way Over”. Even so, you have to show your ID card for your age. I love being carded. 
Also, told him we had never been to Prospectors, but Danny has made us all country music fans. I told him that following Danny has made me love other stars in country music that I would never have followed before. He said that’s great. I think that it is important to promote Danny that way too. Hopefully other places will book him because he “puts fannies in the seats”. or standing fannies.

Basically that’s how I see it, we as fans only can control what we do, the label is the reponsible party. I can’t imagine that they would want failure as it reflects upon them more tham the artists if they are seen not to support their own. as I looked through the adds today other than Chris it seemed the adds from the Sony Group went to the newly signed artists, so that may have been their concentration today.

Ellen, Isn’t Danny’s CD doing well. Don’t know where it is on the charts right now, but I think it is up there. He is building his career. When I saw him at Allentown the m & g was next to his tour bus. That is some nice bus for someone they don’t want to promote. He is a new artist and his first two songs are in the top 40. I am no expert, but I think that is pretty darn good.

At the time I was following KUPL on twitter. (I’ve since unfollowed them.) Azar’s peeps awakened him at 2:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning Nashville time, when it was only 11:00 p.m. Saturday on the West Coast. They told Azar he needed more spins and instructed him to call up one or more radio stations to get them. He called KUPL at 11:30 p.m. and asked them to play “Sunshine.” The DJ recorded Azar’s call. It was so sad. Azar clearly was befuddled and had no idea what was going on.
I mentioned that story because I don’t think artists always know what is going on in their own career. They generally only know what they are told, because they are busy with other things. That’s why they have management and a label, to (theoretically) take care of those things for them.
Got from Pulse that Danny is #34 on Billboard this week – down one spot. Not sure yet about the bullet but since Billboard is based on audience my guess is that he kept his bullet.
I don’t consider myself debbie downer but a realist. Even Danny acknowledged two weeks ago that we should request stations to add his song so he must have known stations were slow to add. I think that RCA pushed hard for Danny to get lots of adds in the beginning in hopes of creating buzz for the song, which it did to a certain extent but the adds have been slow to come since the first few weeks and and we know that RCA has not been pushing for adds these last few weeks with 2, 2 and 0. You know that I think radio adds are important – I guess because I read it in radio airplay 101 and I have completed the red portion of the mediabase list (those stations that have not added his song in hopes it might somehow help. I don’t think the song is done yet and I hope Milwaukee comes thru this week like so many of you have said it would when the going got tough. I don’t know how tough it has to get before they kick in.

I want you to know that Danny follows the charts very closely. Ikve taken more than my share of time talking about radio stations etc and he can cite station numbers and cities. I belive he has a head for business. Action is more important than worry.
KathyPA, I like Steve Azar’s “Sunshine.” He seems like a nice guy. And no artist should have to call a radio station him- or herself and essentially beg for a spin. The DJ made Azar promise to do a private concert in exchange for spinning the song. I was mortified on Azar’s behalf.
I do think that you are doing the right thing by emphasizing how Danny has brought you to country music and how you now listen to other country artists as a result. I try to do the same thing whenever the opportunity presents itself.
I admit I inherited the “worry” gene from my Italian grandmother. But you also mentioned a different attribute the other day, that you also attributed to the Italian side of my family. But you were wrong about that one. Don’t remember what the attribute was, but no one on either side of the family has it.

I don’t think you’re being a Debbie Downer, I think you are being realistic which is good. I can definitely understand anyone being concerned about Danny not getting adds this week. Currently his song is down in spins (though hopefully he will regain them). He’s got songs behind him that are moving at a quicker pace than his song is and could threaten to overtake his song on the charts.
Plus it doesn’t seem like RCA is really pushing his song to radio right now. And we did see what happened to his labelmates Chuck Wicks, and Jake Owens last singles. Chuck Wicks barely hit Top 40 before he started falling and never really recovered. So I can understand being concerned about what is going on with his song right now.
I think the best we can do is keep requesting and trying to get him on as many countdowns as we can. That includes ones like the Charlotte/Minneapolis ones. He doesn’t make those countdowns every night,but if he did, that would be two extra spins per day, 5/days a week. And those spins would help him out. Danny has to fight for every spins he gets, so we can just keep trying to get him as many spins as possible.

I don’t believe anyone is suggesting that you and Lizzy are not taking all the action you can. Lizzy wrote earlier today “Panic is setting in… Tell me I’m overreacting and that I’m wrong.” I think all that people are doing is trying to respond to Lizzy’s plea in the best way they know how. Sometimes what we want to say may not come across the way we wish, but I think people are trying to encourage Lizzy because she asked for encouragement.
My opinion is that Danny appears to be upbeat and happy about the progress that is being made. The spins were down a little last week. I think they’ll be up this week. There were no adds today. I think there will be adds next Monday. I could be wrong, of course, but I do not believe IWNSG has finished its climb.

I don’t get why some here don’t allow some of us to be realistic, a little worried and show a little concern without making it a cheerleader, pom pom, rosy sunglasses vs. negative, no action, whiner and complainer (not sure the point of the football analogies). It seems a little unfair to me. This same thing happened the last time when I was concerned about his single sales and some here poo poo’d that too saying it didn’t matter that his sales would increase with spins and now we don’t have the spins to increase the sales.

Danip, about Chris Young, I think Chris’s momentum started before CMA nomination, after he really hadn’t been moving much at all. I just wonder if RCA wanted him to go out front, either because he is the more established star, or to help him with the CMA voting, or some other reason. Someone else here had suggested once also, perhaps they wanted Chris out front to break some ground and let Danny follow along behind.
It’s just a theory, along with the timing question of when they’ve been aiming for Danny’s song to peak. I do think they probably didn’t like it when Danny moved into the top 40 and Chris was hovering just outside, only a few spots away from Danny so they were competing with each other on the chart.

Agree, all we can do is what we can do, but someone smart on Danny’s team should really be managing the radio gameplan.
Danny doesn’t seem to have as much on his schedule the next 10 days or so. I hope perhaps that will permit him to do more media and radio interviews to promote the single and his fall tour plans.

I don’t know Steph, I think the industry knows who the nominees are prior to it being public. I think Chris’s song was a bit of a hard sell being a re-release so it may be tracking right.
While I understand being upset about the lack of positive movement for IWNSG, i can’t get to tied up in knots about something I have no control of – that’s just my personality.
One year ago when Danny announced he had signed a Country label contract we knew this was not going to be a smooth ride. The fact that Danny hass seen as much success as he has at this point is nothing short of amazing.
All I ask is that everyone accept the others way of handling the disappointment and to keep having fun, because in the end it is all about the music and the enjoyment it brings.

Lizzy, I will say it is a bit worrying to me at this point, but I guess we just have to see it play out and do what is within our ability of knowledge and time investment to do.
I hope to see things kick into gear now that we are past the holiday and heading toward fall but it’s conceivable it won’t work that way, or they misjudged something and put Danny into a hole he will have to try and climb out of. One question that I wondered about, for the songs that took forever to chart (Lee Brice, for example, or Easton’s first that took 6-7 months to peak), did they go through any little down periods or it was just inchworm-like progress up the charts?

To someone’s comment, it would surprise me if RCA / Sony were going shallow on support for IWNSG on the ground that it is moving too slow, when its overall progress is ahead of MBD at the comparable time out, and probably also on a favorable pace vs. some of their other acts lately. It has slowed in the past few weeks, however, most of which were explained by the big acts all rolling through at once. I don’t think that’s the case in the last week or two; there’s another dynamic of some sort, hopefully temporary.

Steph it might be interesting to read the Pulse board for Lee’s song. I haven’t read it but I can imagine the troubles along the way are included. There’s no way it was all smooth sailing for him.
He’s been on the top of rate the music for a long while so he at least had that going for him.
One of the reason why I think he’s doing well is due to the time that it’s been out. It takes a while to get all that going. Janedear has better sales but they have 2 months over him so it’s not the same thing. The same with Eric Church has weeks over him. John Rich was released in the same week and he’s not on the top 200 country songs.

I think that the Minneapolis poll is harder for him to get on. But I don’t think as many people vote on the Charlotte poll as they do on the others. So I think that as long as we vote for him at least once on the WSOC poll, we can keep him on the countdown.

We are home safe from a wonderful time of seeing Danny and meeting so many of you, such special people you are. I stopped to watch the videos of Madison so great and gilgokey’s photo’s thanks for all of those. Made us feel we were there again, wish, wish…just grateful for seeing Danny again. Evan tho he loves to eat “everything” Danny has lost at least #20 or better since we have seen him last January. Very trim and fit……ok ok…..
Those are chicken livers Danny was eating, Ugh! Audio was hard to hear kept repeating to get it all but they were having fun, nice interview.
Having a chance to get into meeting Danny was amazing for us. Compared to the interview Ashley did he was so quiet. He had a lot going on before the show do not know how he does it.
We really enjoyed the other bands as well and if Danny comes back again so will we. Looked at the schedule and he is no where close to us on his Fall tour. So really glad we came to Madison, such a great city for a Capital.
One very special thing happened to us after the concert while we were standing in line for the merchandise. A man behind us asked “Do you know when Danny Gokey lost his wife”? I said one month before he auditioned for AI. I never have heard that song IWNSG before it is a wonderful song. How long has it been since he has lost her? I said it was two years in July. I looked down at the same time as he said I made these white roses for him(they were made out of napkin paper). I said Danny would love that and the fact his new song has touched you so much. He said it has and is the song on his CD? I said yes it is, so he stood in line and waited. He was about 45 and his eyes were so sad, I wanted to put my arms around him……..I watch him come up to Danny and say sir I am sorry for your loss and gave him the three white roses. Danny looked up at him and said thank you Sir I appreciate that, Danny signed the CD and the man walked off holding the CD. Danny’s song is not only making a difference in people’s lives but Danny IS. We keep the FAITH God will use this song, HE will.

Before the countdowns start the Milw form never appeared today as well as the voting form for K102.
Does anyone think that Chris started gaining some speed because his song broke Top 40? I think that might have been what happened. I noticed his song was moving slow but once it hit Top 40, it started gaining a lot more traction. Maybe radio started paying more attention to it once it hit Top 40?
I wouldn’t be surprised if RCA is pushing his song, because he’s a
CMA nominee. But I think that radio might have also just decided to really start supporting his song because he broke Top 40.
This song didn’t do well the first time it was released, but maybe radio thought it would do better this time around after it broke Top 40, ( I think again).

I too wondered if it might have been the Judd winter tour than Danny was asked about. When he talked about it, I checked to see who had winter tours scheduled. They did have a few dates. I think whatever tour it was, his being approached about it was flattering to Danny. From the way he spoke of it, he seemed excited. It may be Danny’s management’s decision about whom he tours with; they might have other opportunities that benefit Danny more. Or perhaps, he is already doing better financially as a headliner than they could possibly have expected so early in his career.
Erika, when I asked for reassurance I was hoping someone would come on with some reasoning and something I hadn’t thought of as to what was possibly going on with Danny’s single, thanks Danip, FOGS and Steph for that. I didn’t expect the total disregard for ones concern, the football analogies, positive vs negative or the worry vs. action kind of talk. That type of reassurance just made me feel and evidentally Ellen B that we were just being negative and downers for no reason. That was not helpful. Botton line, we all care about Danny’s future success and just want him around for a long time. I apologize for getting upset and if I was disrespectful to anyone’s way of handling disappointment and hope people will respect my way of handling it as well.

Lizzy- please don’t feel that some of us are not realistic, because we are. Obviously, there are many ups and downs in the music industry. But, speaking for myself, I always try and look at the glass half full. Danny is so thankful for everything that has happened to him at this point in his life. He hss put his trust in a label that he thought believed in him and his music. You are correct, there are some things Danny can’t control. But, I know Danny has a tremendous amount of faith in his management and I guess time will tell. The best thing we can do for Danny is continue to support him through the good and the bad, which I think we are all doing. I’m sure that is all Danny expects from us.

Lizzy, sometimes we are just talking to ourselves here thinking things through, not necessarily directing comments at anyone in particular, so I would suggest you don’t need to feel that anyone is targeting on your comments in particular. Especially with the winding discussions we can have here with lots of different people and topics blending in and out
Personally, whenever I get into a worry mode, it helps me to either figure it just is what it is and you just have to keep taking one step after another to see how it turns out (that helped me thru the cancer situation, for example), or whether there is anything positive I can think of to balance out the worry factors. Everyone probably has their own way of working through worries, or may have a different take on this situation as to whether we should be worrying and how much. I will plead to a bit of worry, but I’m undecided how much to worry. Will look to see what develops over the next week or so to see if this is just a blip or the start of a trend.
The AI going up is one indicator that may suggest against any definitive trend into trouble. Though it’s not a source I would usually cite, even w-b at mj’s focused on that and said Danny should recover
I saw the Gwyneth ad. Dunno on that, perhaps the movie budget is helping to share ad costs for promotional reasons. It’s hard to figure that would be RCA’s top priority otherwise with Chris and Danny having singles higher on the charts and albums, tour tix to sell.

Hi everyone – I really must come to the defense of my good friend asics. I can assure everyone that I saw absolutely no floozy, honkytonk table-dancing from sweet asics. I think she was actually a bit shocked by some of the downtown behavior in Nashvegas. I’m hoping she is not too terribly scarred by the experience.
On other topics, yep, I’m disappointed with no adds today. But, I really feel, and I have no tangible proof except my gut, that this song has a long way to go yet. I’m going to have to agree with Steph here (!) that I was wondering the same thing about Lee Brice. Being on the chart for as long as he has, that song must have gone through several ups, downs and close calls, but hung in there to set the record for longest charting single. Do I want Danny’s song to take that long? No way! But it just seems that with new artists and country music, the pace is Sooo. Very. Slow. Tomorrow will be a new day. We just need to keep rating his song and doing our voting and requesting and let the chips fall where they may. That’s all we have control over. I keep thinking, with the 9/11 anniversary coming up, that IWNSG may get a few extra spins just for that reason. We’ll see.
On a lighter note, really enjoyed the Wynonna tribute video. Thanks Katlee! I was so hoping to see that! Would love to see a duet between those two. Also really enjoyed the Danny and band interview. So funny! That man sure loves to eat, doesn’t he. The food comments were all very interesting.

See my point about the adds is that it is no guarantee they will play the song. I was just looking back and I see that WSSL-Greenville & WQHK-FtWayne added on 6/28 and they played the song 1x each.
Adds are a funny business, remember Sarah Marence(sic) the young lady that got the bunch of adds because stations played her song alot, but she is now sitting in the 115th position and got a whopping 6 spins this week.
This is not to minimize your concerns but just and overview of the adds process.

I have to admit that I have been very happy with WPOC and WMZQ this time around compared to Danny’s first single. A lot of times when I request IWNSGB, they play it and they always have great things to say about Danny in their responses to my emails. Now if we could just get more stations to behave like those two, we would be in business.
That’s interesting that Danny was eating Chicken livers. I like to eat them at times especially in Dirty Rice. I’m from the South and there are people down here that really like Chicken livers and eat them in things like Dirty Rice.
It is served in Dirty Rice here in some of our restaurants that serve Southern/Cajun types of food. Danny seems like he’s a person that just likes/appreciates many different types of food.
Brandon on the other hand looked like he wanted to pass out at the mere site of the funnel cake.

The label has to be responsible for the commercials they’ve added the song but they didn’t add it to the what they use rate the songs until recently. That could be due to them as well. I’m not sure on why they did it all of the sudden but I think Milw’s going upward now.
He’s been on Milw’s top 35 for 3 weeks and I couldn’t rate the song the first week it wasn’t available and I think I might have missed it last week maybe? But it’s there now.

What does that mean, Lizzy? No bullet on Billboard? Billboard makes me nervous, because it seems like it is easier to fall off of that chart than Mediabase, I think. Mediabase has at least a little wiggle-room with the 20 week thingy.

Billboard has the same rule
Ellen B. Actually Billboard and mediabase have very similar rules as to when a song goes recurrent. If the song is under 20 weeks, which IWNSGB definately is, the song must be without a bullet for three weeks on mediabase and more than 2 weeks on Billboard. Sometimes that means mediabase let’s the song go the week after the 3d week or sometimes not and Billboard the week after the 2d week which is the 3d week if that makes sense.

I think the #5 negative he recovered at the end of the week but at the time I thought he wouldn’t make it. He was down a few days during the week. He’s had the top song in Milw for a couple of weeks so they are really behind him.
Danny was positive until Sunday and that’s unfort the day that matters versus Lee was down towards the week and recovered by the weekend.

Lizzy & Ellen, I was trying to cheer you up. If you want to worry, obviously that is your choice. I know you both do everything you can for Danny to help him. Actually, I was never suggesting that you don’t. Just trying to say that worrying will not change the situation. It will just give you an ulcer. My football analogy was really to show sometimes that slow and steady can still win the race. Plus I had to make fun of the Steve Azar song.

At the Lady A. Concert the other night. Lady A talked about how they never thought they would get to perform. They thought they would always be songwriters behind the scenes. I didn’t know this, maybe everyone else does, that they wrote Do I for Luke Bryan. Then magic struck for them with Need You Now, their second album.
If IWNSGB goes recurrent more quickly than it should, then we will just fight harder for the next single.
There is no question in my mind that Danny will get a second CD. I would bet they are working on it behind the scenes.

Regarding the video of Wynona Judd’s award, did anyone notice that after one of the speakers mentioned that Rolling Stone magazine had called Wy one of the greatest country singers since Patsy Cline, Danny’s voice can be heard in the background saying “Woo!” (As in, “Woo-hoo!) My hearing isn’t the best, so I could be wrong, but I thought I heard Danny’s distinctive voice in the background.

I was speaking from the aspect of how my personality works. I am a worrier, no doubt about it. But if I give in to my worry, I sink into depression and inertia. So what works for me is to ignore my worry and spring to action. Not looking through rose colored glasses in the least; and I am glad we have many here who don’t- we need realists. It’s just how I deal with things- never told anyone not to worry; just mentioned how I would cope with it.

I don’t know if I was able to say anything to help you–but I tried. I have another thought to be considered: Maybe Danny will get some positive publicity on the ACC countdown this weekend. Since they run a week behind, when Kix introduces Danny’s song, I’m hoping he will say something like “taking a big jump from #37 to # 33 is Danny Gokey.” (I’m also voting again tonight on the ACC pick of the week.)
About Danny being called child/man at the Wy tribute. I thought perhaps he talked before he sang and told about the influence Wy had on him when he was twelve years old.
I wish Danny would get a chance to do a duet on Randy Travis’ duet album that he (Randy) is working on.

Hey, I sent KRKT (Albany, OR) a thank-you note for playing IWNSG on Sunday morning. I also asked a question. The station is listed as on their website as 99.9 on the dial, but where I live it comes in as 96.3. I wanted to confirm that 96.3 & 99.9 are the same. Anyway, the program director wrote back and said that 96.3 is their “translator” so that people where I live could hear better. Then he said he was glad I liked the song.

Ellen, I love Ol’ Red and Hillbilly Bone. You know I like Blake Shelton. In fact when I do the mediabase forms, I always vote for Danny first and for other artists’ song too so they don’t get Danny overload. I usually vote for She Wouldn’t Be Gone and Some Beach both by Blake. I also like What Was I Thinkin by Dierks Bentley. Ticks by Brad Paisley. Sometimes a Rascal Flatts song too. We have to show that we respect other country singers too, not just Danny. I have written in I Will Not Say Goodbye several times, but it seems to be posted on most of the priority media based forms now.

Or someone on the committee for the event could have heard Danny talking about her in one of his many interviews and thought, “that would be great to have Danny perform for Wynonna”. They seemed to be honoring her for her charity work and for the influence that she has had on people. In which case, Danny fits into that event very well. Just my opinion on the subject anyway.
(P.S.) to RachR: I was afraid there were only AL fans at the Wilkes-Barre AI Tour M&G, until I saw you in purple. Meeting you definitely perked me up. Later, when looking back at the pictures I took, I saw a lot of purple. So there must have been more Dannyfans than I first thought.

KathyPA, well, my Dad was not Italian. He didn’t like Penn State because he felt that they were whiny — always claiming to be #1 while not playing any really tough teams. He didn’t like Notre Dame for the same reason. In fact, one of the best games I ever watched with my Dad was Notre Dame vs. Southern California. SoCal creamed ND. It was way back in the day, when Ricky Bell played for SoCal. (Before you call a pox on my Dad, he’s deceased now.)

Cheri, that’s great that you saw a promo ad for IWNSG! Hope the label runs it in more states.
Say, I wanted to chime in about the towel subject from a few nights ago.
All of you were correct when you said that it takes alot of energy to keep a show paced well while entertaining a crowd.
Those theater and spot lights are very hot; believe me, you sweat when you’re just sitting or standing let alone running around the stage.
Also, the concentration a performer needs takes up another big bit of energy; remembering the form of a song ( intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo (guitar, piano, bass, or whatever), not tripping/slipping over wires, your own feet, or any other obstacle that may be in your way, keeping in character of the song, keeping pitch, rhythm, tempo, words, keeping the audience involved.
You can imagine that it’s important to keep hydrated or you could pass out (I’ve seen this happen on more than one occasion). I liked Ellens idea about a darker color towel that might be less obvious. Thought AL remark about going on after Danny and the stage being a little wet was pretty funny; that boy gives his all to his audience. What ever he decides – keep it, lose it, or wear it – it’ll be fine with us!

Okay Ellen you have hit a raw nerve.
PSU has gotten some unfair rankings through the years. You play the schedule you have that is usually made up 10 years in advance.
We played in the Big 10 in 1994. We were undefeated. However, they gave #1 to Nebraska. Why, poor Tom Osborne didn’t have a national championship. He also played a convicted felon, his running back, Lawrence Phillips in their bowl game. Phillips severely beat up his girlfriend, has attacked other people including running his car into a group. He has been in jail serving time. He may be out now, who knows. He would have never been on the team at Penn State, never mind travel to a bowl game. Or maybe it was because we defeated the Univerity of Oregon in our bowl game. You know the Pac10 is so overated.
The fact is JoePa has more wins than anyone else in Division 1 football. Bobby Bowden was close, but they took several games away from him, why, because many of his players were cheating on tests.
At least Joe wants to win with honor and make sure his players go to class.
USC, Reggie Bush, another cheater. Don’t even get me started about OJ Simpson.
Don’t like Notre Dame, but at least they have integrity.
I do think Tony Dorsett was a very good running back for Pitt and Dan Marino a great quarterback. I do wish they would bring back the Penn State vs. Pitt rivalry game. Maybe someday.
