I read you frustration and I suggest that you sen an email to the PD laying out exactly what you said in you post. That you are a local listener who supports the advertisers on their station, that you thhought that after ther played your call to the DJ you believed that they would play the song and since the did not you are considering changing to Satellite radio. . Well, we had a great day at the polls yesterday- Yay! I knew our continuous pesky voting would help Danny. Erika- sorry, I only was able to see a few minutes of CMA fest last night. Darn- I missed Danny 
. It looks like we will have to keep voting our fingers to the bone tonight on Wausau and WMZQ to keep our Danny on top

Other than James, the only two in negatives above Danny for right now are Keith Urban (who could possibly go recurrent Sunday if they are strict on the three week thing), and Blake Shelton who got nudged out of #1 by Billy’s beer song. Who would ever guess that a song about drinkin’ beer might hit #1 on the country chart — shocker….

At allaccess they have the Bostons station down for playing him 26 times, this week, they are the station that has played him the most this week. They must have really liked when he performed for

Keep requesting and helping him get more spins and building up his audience impression. I think that Luke will pass him soon, but maybe James will fall below him and he can stay where he’s at leasta alittle while longer.

Very nice that Boston became his top station. They must have got alot of good feedback from that with all the people that watched it online. It would be so neat if he did another concert.

IWNSG is now doing better on mediabase,than MBD did, when it was out the same amount of weeks. IWNSG got 33 adds when it officially went to adds 14 more adds than MBD (which got 19). And it made the Top 40 faster than MBD did. Right now IWNSG is on track to possibly do better than MBD.

My post was lost so I’ll just add this I think MBD was around 40/41 at this point. He’s at #33 right now. I still consider him A. It’s going very well even if it seems otherwise.
Callout was better, spins are better, stations sticking with it are better, adds are better. I don’t remember this amount of support early on. There’s stations that didn’t play it or add it MBD trying it out early IWNSG.
The DC countdown the most we got that was #2 much less going at it #1 for over one month.

FOGS, lol, at least Windmills didn’t diss Danny in the CMA award thing, they could have if they were a real hater-bringing up the fact he wasn’t nominated for best new artist. Being a country knowledgeable person, at least they know he isn’t really a logical nominee this year.
But I think he will really be ignored in her threads. I won’t even post in WB thread unless I am putting in a plug for Danny.

Yes I don’t remember about Baltimore all that much I think we got it once or twice not sure if it was the top spot or not but MBD did get up to #2 on DC but he was also off it more than on. He was barely on it and not consistently. We didn’t have the write in votes then I don’t think or he just didn’t get any to get on it when he wasn’t listed.
It was good starting practice for us. If he was on any others we didn’t vote on it. I also don’t think it was everyone voting just some of us here not like it is now. It sounds so easy now but I remember on how hard it was for him to get that #2 spot. That was the only thing I remember voting on last time.

This was probably mentioned before but MBD lost in the first week of the C&C faceoff they had around 30 votes total for both songs with most not for him. We didn’t vote. We’ve definitely gotten better at it since.
For those who weren’t here yesterday, I am throwing in the towel. I am sure that I will continue to lurk, and I will probably post from time to time because (as Kathy/Philly noted) I consider you all as my friends. I will do what I can as time permits, but I don’t think I will be requesting from my local radio stations anymore. I refuse to hit my head against a brick wall.
What happened is this. Yesterday I had a furlough day from work. I called KUPL (Portland). Keola, the music director, answered. I requested IWNSG. We chatted for a minute. KUPL played part of my conversation on air, but never played IWNSG. They played Clay Walker’s “She Won’t Be Lonely Long” instead. I called back later, thinking I could pretend that I thought they’d made a mistake about the song I’d requested. (I didn’t really believe that.) Keola explained that the amount of requests they get varies from day to day, and that day they’d gotten a lot. He promised to play my song as soon as he possibly could.
In the meantime, I’m thinking, “If you have a long queue of requested songs, why do you keep asking more people to call in with their requests?” And I absolutely do not believe that KUPL got requests for all of the songs they played between my original request and when I made my third phone call many hours later.
Well, I really lost it when KUPL played STEALING Angels. (Sorry, Erika. Actually, no I’m not.) I called KUPL again, talked to B Dub (who was nice). I was upset and asked why they kept asking listeners to call in more requests when they hadn’t played earlier requests. B Dub asked what song I wanted, and when he heard the name of the song, he paused, then said he couldn’t play it: “It’s not a song that the label is pushing, and it’s not being requested.” At least he was honest. I did ask how they expected listeners to request a song if they never played the song. Then I just hung up, because I didn’t trust myself. B Dub was nice, and he was honest. But he’s only a DJ. The guy who lied by implication was Keola, the music director.
I no longer believe that RCA is acting in Danny’s (or even its own) best interest. They are just throwing artists at the wall to see who sticks. RCA hasn’t been doing a thing for Jake Owen and Chuck Wicks, both of whom have had recent singles die a premature death. Maybe it only cares about Chris Young, who is the most country-sounding and who has performed the best among the four. But even there, I’m not sure how much RCA has been doing vs. Chris managing to make an impact of his own.
So I wasted my day off, waiting around for KUPL to play Danny, when I should have known better. (Like when I waited around to hear MBDAAOM on my birthday.) The sad thing is, KUPL still plays it more than KWJJ (Portland), which never plays him except for the countdown.
Under these circumstances, I cannot continue to request IWNSG from my local radio stations. It’s too upsetting. I need to live my life and not worry about neanderthal country radio or an idiotic major label that apparently never heard of protecting its investment.

Ellen this part – it’s not being requested- that’s when the fans come it to it so that’s half truth because you’ve been requesting it. There were plenty of requests for it last night. The times that I really think Iheart is important to Danny are for what your just posted. You can always request his song on others even if you can’t get that station to play it.
I do believe RCA’s promotion comes in time and not necessarily all right away. They have done alot they’ve done for Danny it just might not seem enough but I’ve seen it.

I had read (I think around the time Danny was signed) that RCA (or Sony Nashville) is very aware of timing in promoting their artists, that they watch what is happening in the industry and pick times to promote that best benefit the label and the artists they have signed. An example of this may have been when Danny was back on AI. That was very good timing. I think they have more in store for him when they think the time is right. I read that they try not to have their own artists competing with each other and try to watch what other labels are doing when they choose dates for releases. I believe they were smart to choose a March release for Danny.

Ellen, maybe the label isn’t promoting Danny to that station, but is focusing their effort on other stations. Or, maybe it is “sink or swim”. I don’t know. To the extent you can try to help make a difference, that’s a good thing. I am always talking about peace of mind and people probably think that’s very boring but I do think it’s important to accept what we can and can’t control. It is not easy and I do understand.

I think it can be frustrating to call radio stations and especially experience what Ellen did. I know I’m a glass half full person, but it could be possible that the label is strategically pushing at certain times (like Milw.) Or they just won’t push to that label. I don’t call; would find it too stressful (yes, I don’t bother calling Milw!). Filling out mediabase forms when I have time works fine for me.
It does need to be fun. I know I get wrapped up in thinking his personal success depends on what I do, which is silly and creates stress. It is up to Danny and the label. I think we are being very supportive, but if it stops being fun a break could be needed. I know I am on self imposed Twitter time out because I find myself irritated by inconsequential comments and actions.
I hope people don’t feel like they have to do all the things suggested here to be a “good” Danny fan. The suggestions are put forth as things that could help him, and no one will know if you do them or not.
Sometimes it’s stressful, like in Ellen’s case; or when we defend him to haters; or when we don’t have time to vote much (me this week
)
But sometimes it’s a lot of fun- like kicking the K. Urban fan’s butts in the polls, as Kathy said. Or reading recaps, sharing in another’s joy when they finally meet Danny, going to concerts, bringing Erika here to meet him in person and watching on video (now how fun was that whole experience, whether you talked to her, met her or just read her recaps?) watching his single climb or just giving each other a hard time here for laughs
I hope Ellen will stick around- she knows iheart needs a voice of reason and temperance among all the goofballs like myself here

Hi Everybody! A big thanks to everyone who wished me and Ron a Happy Birthday and Anniversary yesterday! We had a great time in Milgokey. It was where we got engaged and married, so we thought it was the perfect place to go to celebrate. We even ate at the place where Ron gave me my ring! Great memories. We even had some luck at the casino, which is very rare!!! Must have been the special day that brought us luck!
It was so wonderful to get all the kind wishes from everyone and it really made our day perfect. I have been voting more today because I didn’t get much in the last couple of days. So I will go back to voting and check back later.

Ellen, if you feel frustrated by all means give yourself a break. Do what is right for you. I agree with Pam that sometimes we think what we do or don’t do will make or break Danny’s career and that just isn’t true. It is up to Danny, his label and management team to move his career forward. Yes requesting is helpful but it is not the be all end all. Push from the label has to happen and it is up to RCA pushing IWNSGB and radio stations playing it for it to be a hit. I was so frustrated about Danny’s single sales that I had to give myself a time out and put things into perspective. We all have to find what works for each of us and what we enjoy doing as far as requesting, voting, buying, attending concerts, etc and all of it helps and I’m sure Danny appreciates all we do for him.

Lizzy, With the way things work out Danny can’t do it without fans. He really needs the requesting from anyone that’s able to. If you not able to though don’t feel bad about it and just do something else that you can. It’s all optional on what we do. I never thought the requesting was that important but it is. Fans put an artist where there at but there’s other factors that come into it that might decide things more.

. Ellen- I hope you will reconsider coming here from time to time! I don’t think Danny ever expected any of us to give up our personal lives for him. I come to this website everyday because I enjoy it, not because I feel it is a job. I enjoy doing whatever I can to support Danny because I believe he is a talented singer and a genuinely great person. But, there are many days I don’t get a chance to request/vote as much as I would like to. If you have to, give yourself a break for awhile. Danny has always said he wants everyone to enjoy his music! Nice to see some familiar posters here today. Hope everyone is doing well. Well, off to do some voting/requesting.

I was speaking to Ellen and not about myself – you totally misread my post. If you reread my post you will notice I said that requesting is important and that we should do whatever we are comfortable with and have time to do as far as requesting, voting, buying, etc. Where did you get that I said I could not do any of those thing or that they were not important. I do them all the time. We do need to keep it in perspective though that what we do is not going to make or break Danny’s career. We should not put that kind of pressure on anyone here. I think that Danip posting the list every morning with the stations and FOGS giving the updates is enough. People know to request and vote and I don’t think we constantly need reminders on which stations to request from or vote on just my two cents. I think we should just do what we enjoy and have time for. Okay I’m off my soapbox.

I wonder if it is possible for there to be another itunes special to make “The Coach” available again. Has anyone asked Danny about this? I like the song a lot and listened to it often but accidentally deleted my copies. I think, too, that Danny has fans now who missed a chance to get the song. I wish it had been a regular song and not just a bonus. I think it would have been popular with coaches too, and with people who have had coaches. (I could imagine it being used at a sports event as a tribute.)

We did do some voting on WMZQ’s countdown for MBD, it did pretty well but we weren’t as focused on making it #1.
I don’t believe we even knew when MBD was up for the C&C vote, or it would have done better. I only noticed that when I went to the C&C site after IWNSG was up for vote, and I was researching what other songs had been on their faceoff and how many people were voting.
Ellen, so sorry for the frustration with your local station.
I hope his comment about the label was just a question of timing as some have said. They may not really push for a lot more airplay until later on. And realistically not every station in the country is going to play any song unless it gets really high on the charts. Some of the formats just seem very restrictive, or the station may be really traditional. I suppose in those cases, the label may skip over them going to friendlier territory when they do want to woo stations for more airplay.
If you want to do a radio request now and then, maybe just pick another station in your state that’s nicer, or one in some other area you grew up or went to school. IMO we’re all just trying things that may help without really any guarantee in most cases that they will yield a specific result. (Where do those mediabase request form results really go and how are they used, for example… ) Just do what we feel able and have time to do, and hope for the best. Ultimately the professionals on Danny’s team also have a big role to play, and they are armed with access to plans and information that we don’t have.

I spent the day visiting my old job, seeing old friends. It was really nice. They want me back but it’s not easy. Because I was a civil servant, I have to go through another selection process, undertake a test when the positions become available. They say a new one will come soon and they want me to try out for that. I said I would but I’m not confident that I’m gonna pass. It’s been so long since I’ve been away from school books and the national news that I’m completely clueless on that front.

Speaking about radio, I was listening to WDSY on the way home tonight and they were doing the 6 pack @ six, and the dj stated the KU was in the the top spot again tonight and that his fans just keep voting. I haven’t applied for anything yet. Here is Brazil you have to go through a written exam for public jobs (thousands apply for those tests). The higher rankings get the job. The position is not available yet. They think that it might be available soon and the ones that are picked should start working by January.

They did a cover of The Beatles Revolution for the Evan Almighty movie. Me & My Gang was sort of rock-ish. It was on the Me & My Gang album. Guess I’m not sure which song it would have been. They have done plenty of covers at their shows, but nothing that would’ve been played on the radio. Oh, Life is A Highway maybe? That was a remake of a song they did for the disney movie, Cars. It was a HUGE hit for them. I get sick of people saying that about them too. They are more contemporary country vs. traditional, but who the heck cares? I did too. I have always liked Uncle Kracker. (Even though “Smile” isn’t one of my favorites from him.)

I had an appointment this afternoon; jumped into my car switched radio stations and heard IWNSGB at 4PM! And now, on the other station at 8:30. Obviously the audience impression is going up, but the spins slowly….so…

I was reading at Roughstock that Little Big Town’s CMA nomination was their first in their 10 year career. RCA posted that Chris Young’s CMA nomination was his first. Danny really does have plenty of time. A nomination for Danny would have been too early in his career and probably not well received by the country music industry. They really are about paying your dues and the good thing about RCA is that they usually give you a chance to pay your dues. RCA stuck by Chris Young when the sales of his first album were poor and they also stuck with Chuck Wicks who had poor sales on his first album. Danny’s first album has done much better than either of their debuts and probably Jake Owen’s as well.

Jan, I have noticed that the audience is going up for IWNSGB and stations do seem to be playing more in the daytime/evening hours. When his song is being played in the morning and afternoon rush hours we will know he has hit the big time. The overnight hours do absolutely nothing for the song because nobody listens at those hours. I check my locals WPOC and WMZQ daily to see when they play it and they are playing it at better times lately.

He has a nice voice; I don’t begrudge Easton. Jerrod, I did like Lover, lover but IDK, just seems like someone else could have fit better there. Better than Julianne Hough or LBB though, right?

LOL, I did some research… When I read replacement at KSCS, my ears perked because I know that they are a station that wouldn’t play Danny even if the Pope pleaded for it… and then I went back to see adds and spins for WKDF/Nashville & WGKX/Memphis and both stations added IWNSG and have been playing it (not as much as we’d like but they do play it).

I didn’t mean nobody literally listens just not many compared to day. You won’t sell many singles or albums or not many will know your song if it is only played overnight – that was my point and I am glad that Danny’s song seems to be getting higher audience and played at more favorable times. Didn’t want to offend anyone who works night shift. Guess I need to choose my words more carefully when I post.

I think there would have been backlash. Just like when he was on Idol. A lot of the hate that Danny got stemmed from the criticism that he was way over praised by the judges and TPTB, even when he didn’t always deserve it. And that almost everyone else, except for Adam, were reduced to secondary roles.
I agree that Danny has worked hard. But in all fairness, he’s also had a lot of great opportunities come his way. From Mark Bright, to the Sugarland tour, opening for Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw – and he given the biggest platform to perform on AI, the week his album debuted.
I also think of someone like Ruben Studdard, who got nominated for a Grammy out of the gate – but was eventually dropped by his label. Too much too soon.

My friend is coming back from Japan tomorrow with her husband and her little boy and I’m going to meet her at the airport and hang around with her on the 3 hours window that she has here in Sao Paulo, before getting her flight to Brasilia (Brazil’s capital) where she’s gonna live. First time I’ll be seeing her son besides webcam.
On Friday, I’m going to dinner with my old co-workers so I can talk to them without stopping the work flow… LOL…

I think the crowd at CMA fest was probably having heat stroke and lost some energy.
Carrie did sound like her voice needs to be rested. Probably wanted to get in as much touring as possible before the nuptials.
Hope Ellen comes back soon. Went to Target again and three Danny CD’s were in the most popular country slot. Got them all. Glad to see they refilled it quickly.

Lizzy I know you’ve gone to bed but in case you read this tomorrow I think it’s around 10pm-5am. I’m just guessing baised on what I’ve seen on radio time and what I’ve looked at on all access. Radio time really has alot overnights but it’s not as bad as before where it initially looked like all of his spins were at night. I think WMIL has it both ovn and evenings and they play it just before 5am a few times. But we’ve had a few afternoon ones in as in 1-2. Also since CA is two hours behind me some of those stations play it at 7am in the morning my time.
