The update today is down and it looks like from the MB chart that Danny will most likely drop out of the top 40, he will probably be 41 just behind Chris Young. One new station WWSM Nashville gave it 2 spins yesterday. Unfortunately lots of negatives also show and these stations need some love. Request if you can as there are no poll shows on the weekend.

Thanks for the update Danip, Sure do wish the spins from Crook and Chase would count today and do we know if his song will be on the Top 40 countdown today. I will be away for the day and evening. Hopefully some will be able to listen to the KIX top 40 to see if they are current or a week behind. I think Danny’s only chance to stay in the top 40 is if he gets countdown spins that Chris Young doesn’t get but that may not even be enough.
Another question for you Danip, I noticed for two nights in a row at the same time WUBL in Atlanta played I Will Not Sat Goodbye but I don’t see them reflected on your chart. I do see the other Atlanta station but not WUBL.

I answered you last nigh but you may have already gone out. WUBL and WKHX are sister stations and report under the latter on my report. This is something I see alot of but I do go back and check when someone brings a station to my opinion. I do miss some of the west coast as they don’t update by EST but try to catch them the next day. Thanks

I think the discussion last night benefited everyone to try and figure out how we can help Danny, without overcompensating. For the weekend chart, could still be that Danny will stay top 40 if someone(s) goes recurrent. Craig Morgan seems to have recovered but Luke and Dierks are down by quite a bit, and Montgomery Gentry by a lesser amount. Also Randy Montana and Pound Sign guy by small amounts, though those may only be in the last week so I think they may stay unless the chart is really sick of them.
Danny is up against Josh Gracin on the C&C Faceoff this weekend. Missed hearing Danny’s part but caught them playing Josh’s song and announcing that he would be in the faceoff against IWNSG. (Gotta say, Country Aircheck and some other sites have had an ad running for Josh’s newest song that has a big ol’ full-size bikini barbie chick on it. Not sure what that’s about, but bleh.)

Hi Darla, several of us have had that problem with Chart Country. I’m not sure if it is actually counting us but just displaying that annoying message, or is really ignoring us.
You can also email in your 5 favorite song titles off their list once a week and they are supposed to count that.

I wonder how well that Chart Country site is maintained. Some of the information isn’t updated regularly, and their voting method doesn’t seem to let the older songs retire with enough frequency to bring new songs on. They’re at least one single behind for a number of the artists, Danny included now.

I haven’t found a good station yet to listen live for the ACC show at 11 am EST, but this station in Fairbanks Alaska seems to carry it at 8 am their time, which would be noon EST if I have that right. Hopefully Danny is on both countdowns, I think they do go from the same mediabase lists so he should be.

Hope Danny can keep his top 40 spot. Things may be a slower climb than we anticipated, lots of competition and I guess we can’t expect him to zip up like he did to start with.
Remember it takes the average country song 20 weeks to peak, there is a long way to go.

Just so you know — there is a third countdown show, besides the ACC Kix Brooks one and Crook & Chase. It’s called “Country Countdown USA.” The host is Lon Helton, and there is always an artist who co-hosts. This week it’s Craig Morgan. The program is somehow affiliated with CMT. It’s the countdown that plays on KUPL in Portland, OR. (The other Portland station plays the Kix Brooks one.) I usually listen to Kix. I’m pretty sure the Lon Helton one plays the top 40. If you check the Washington radio station’s website, I wouldn’t be surprised if they play the same countdown as KUPL. I always wondered why you didn’t have Country Countdown USA on your list.

KUPL doesn’t play the Lon Helton countdown until Sunday. I thought is was top 40, but maybe I’m wrong and it’s only top 30? Also, I don’t know whether they use the Mediabase or Billboard numbers. Kix always seems to be a week or two behind. Maybe it’s only a week now, but they are always behind.

Cherie, the goggles song was better than the beer gut song, but I’d have to say I liked it about 2% as well as the corn song or Billy C’s beer drinkin’ song the first time I heard them.
Maybe the beer goggles guy (Neal something, couldn’t see the last name) is a local Milwaukee artist they played, hope I never hear that one around here

I’ve been missing in action on the discussion forum, but I have done some more voting/mediabase forms. I did get through to my radio station at 4:30 with a request. They just played IWNSGB shortly after 8PM–I doubt I had much to do with that, but hopefully they registered my request. They usually ask my name, but this DJ didn’t.
I loved the mental visual of Danny on horseback yesterday. I sure hope a picture, or a video, surfaces. I wish we would have asked him how an urban Milwaukee boy got into horses. Funny thing, my husband grew up in the center of Milwaukee and he learned to ride well as a child (he competed in barrel racing). Whereas, I grew up on a farm, and I never rode a horse until Ed talked me into it when we were visiting San Antonio!

I think Danny is very soulful and would appeal to people who like R&B.
Danip, do you remember the singer, Tom Jones, you know, What’s New Pussycat, She’s a Lady, It’s Not Unusual? He was being interviewed and he said before he came to the US to perform, people thought he was a black artist. He has great range too like Danny. Saw him in concert about 9 years ago, he had to be 60, but he still could sing and still looked good and he still wore tight pants. (no comment). Also think Danny loves everyone and everyone loves him back.
Had to leave for the shore when the info about Ellen leaving came up. Wanted to say hooray! My computer died on me. Then my husband told me about Kara getting fired. Probably fired Ellen too, but let her save face.

Seriously starting to think about the cruise. My husband won’t go. That is just too much for him to take. Jan, unfortunately he is not Ed.
In fact, I mentioned to him that some of the girls were interested in seeing Danny by the pool. Out came some jealousy – he is just a little, skinny guy. I told him that Danny is not that short and has been pumping iron. Doesn’t he know that most movie stars are not that tall. My husband is 6’1″ and I asked him are only tall men attractive and he said yes and are only tall women attractive? He said short women are attractive except for Snookie! Since I am 5’3″, he could not stick his foot in his mouth that far.
Also I went on a rant about Playboy, Penthouse, Maxim, etc. Why is it alright for men to look at women? Good thing he didn’t know about the pants conversation for the other night.

There is no M&G listed yet for the Vancouver event, although there are some for events after that. I really hope there will be one. I know it might turn up as it gets closer, it’s still 3 months away.
My husband is going to Vancouver with me, but when I asked him if he wanted to go to Danny’s concert he said “I don’t mind being around one person who loves Danny Gokey, but being around 1000 of them might be a bit much”, lol! He likes Danny but thinks it is silly to stand in a line to meet a singer, but he doesn’t mind that I want to. I admit I used to think it would be kind of silly too, but my thinking on this has changed.
I guess the difference is that I never knew enough about any other singers (beyond just their music) to care all that much about them as a person or to be interested in meeting them.

I think Danny should still be quite a bit ahead on the C&C voting as the first 75 or so votes were virtually all for Danny. But we’ll have to keep an eye on it then as I do see a lot more Josh votes coming in. I think that was what happened with Stealing Angels also on that one radio poll, as they used their official FB list to drum up votes.
Danny’s team may put it on his official FB again, which should seal the deal if so. I have to think he has a ton more fans overall than Josh G.
I put it on the ihrt FB earlier and tweeted it, and GGP also tweeted it. I sent another tweet just now.

Josie – lol, at your DH! I was pretty much the same way about meeting a musician, not really interested (although it would have been nice to win a m&g with KU but, alas, hasn’t happened). I just couldn’t believe how nervous I was meeting Danny. My hands were shaking and I had that brain freeze syndrome Erika talks about, lol! I’m sure you will do much better. Josie, I sent an e-mail through Sophia’s Heart asking if they would have a meet and greet for Allentown. They responded quickly and told me that is determined by the record label.
