. Danny is doing pretty well this morning on the polls. One poll he is in 2nd place. Can’t remember which one, because I voted on so many already- ha, ha. I liked danny’s tweet-he is such a cutie! It’s understandable why girls would be swooning after him. I am surprised that Allison is talking about a second ablum already. I don’t think the first one did very well. i saw Kris Allen’s second single is doing ok, but his album overall has pretty much hit a wall. I know Danny is doing really well for a country artist, but I don’t think kris is doing that great for a top 40 artist. Adam of course is doing very well. I think he and Danny will come out ahead from AI8. I do like Michael Sarver in general because he has been the only vocal person I have saw that has supported Danny. Scott Macintyre has a little bit too. Have a great day and let’s hope we can get danny played tonight on a couple other polls!

Hi everybody, You people have been busy yesterday evening!No wonder Danny and his management team are big fans of the Iheart site. When I read the comments this morning I could feel the energy and how everybody was determined to get Danny to #1spot in as many polls as possible. Some of you are definitely “insane” in a very positive way.
Looks like Danny had fun performing at Salt Lake City last night! Hope we hear more news on the concert. Wouldn’t mind seeing photos of adoring fans trying to get hold of Danny!
I’m back to work and voting routine. Did my bit of voting in the morning at home and when I got to work. Voting goes pretty fast for me, because of the time difference the voting sites are pretty quiet at night.
I’ve actually lost count on Danny’s album sales. Does anyone of you know approx. how many albums Danny has sold so far and how much he is selling weekly at present?

Someone was mentioning WQDR-NC yesterday that’s one that it’s in the same boat as Milwaukee pretty much. They will play MBD but haven’t gotten to the other one yet. I think there the ones that are playing more than anyone else in the country for the other song. You have very good chances to hear MBD if you request that one.

But his audience impression has gotten smaller. And I think that Chris Young will end up passing him on the chart. So I’m not sure if Danny will end up Top 40 this week.
Maybe if he someone goes recurrent, he might be able to make it, but I am not sure if anyone will go recurrent this week.
Does anyone know if Luke Bryan might go recurrent this week? If it’s a possibility that might be the best chance Danny has of staying Top 40. That or maybe the countdown spins he will get from being Top 40 last week, might could help him out.

Do we know that the Kix Top 40 countdown is current. I thought that some of them run a week or two behind. Do we know for sure his song will be played this week on the top 40 countdown. I too have been concerned that Chris Young will pass Danny on the charts. I have noticed that Danny’s song has slowed down some this week. It was moving along nicely. I hope everyone is remembering that although these evening countdown shows get Danny’s songs spins and are great for buzz there is nothing more important than requesting I Will Not Say Goodbye for your local radio station and keeping after them. I usually email but yesterday when I was running around at lunch I decided to call in my requests and realized just how simple and easy it is. You may want to get to know your local radio station format well. A lot of stations have lunchtime request hours where they take song requests and veer off their daily format somewhat – that is a great time to request Danny’s new song, especially if your station has not put Danny’s song into regular rotation yet.

Brian Mansfield has Danny at 174k albums sold, but he rounds and is usually higher than actual numbers; Matt hasn’t given them in a while since Danny dropped off BB200.
I would guess Danny is between 165 and 170 k sold?
He is selling 1000 some albums a week since MBD went recurrent I think- that is what he sold this past week.
I think he will sell more as IWNSGB climbs. I noticed Easton (yes, always watching him!) sold 5k this week and is in the top 100 on BB. The benefits of having that #`1 song.
I really think radio play is key. Danny gets album sales from concerts, but to really get new fan exposure radio play is needed.
Of course Milgokey is playing MBD twice today! But no IWNSGB. Must be a lot of stations like that, slow to pick up new songs unless you are a chosen one. Still playing a lot of older songs.
I hope having his video played more (one of these days

will result in more single sales too.

From what I understand, the major country radio top 40 shows used to run two weeks behind the published mediabase chart but they changed it earlier this year sometime during the phase when MBD was topping out or beginning to drop out.
I think (?) now they run from the last published chart, which ~should mean if that’s correct Danny will be on the countdowns this weekend plus have the Crook & Chase airplay.
Pam, thank you for the info on album sales. Danny is definitely working hard to earn his place in the country music world and he/us just have to be patient and wait for the radio stations to warm up to him. We all know that many people who see Danny perform live will become his fans, but we need the major radio stations give him the chance to get his music played to those big country music audiences. It’s only been less than a year since Danny started his career and I think we just have to be patient and wait..
I remember reading an article on Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley, who had tried for years to make it in the music industry and was close to quitting singing, because it looked like he wouldn’t make it. Just look at where he is now in his career!

Hi Erik, Thanks for the picture. I remember that one from last year. It started a lot of commotion here that lasted a couple of days. We all enjoyed it immensely.
Hannele, Oh My Heavens, I didn’t even think that some people do not have AC in their homes. But I guess if it doesn’t usually get very hot there that there shouldn’t be any reason why you would have AC. I can remember being without Ac after a hurricane that we had here one summer. It was unbearable and we all were miserable. My heart goes out to you all and I hope that the temperature goes back down real soon.
I have to say again that I am so proud of all the Ihearts and all of Danny’s fans. That was great that Danny made it to three number 1 spots last night. I don’t remember which ones except for the D.C. one and the Kat Fight there too, but it was great to see everyone working hard to achieve good things for Danny. I’m proud to be an Iheart.
And I started saying Iheart instead of Iheartie because I didn’t think the males here want to be considered a Iheartie. I thought it might sound too girlie so for anyone who wonders why I write Iheart instead of Iheartie, that’s why. But that’s just my odd way of thinking. I’m just proud to be a Iheart and an Iheartie.
I don’t know if it was mentioned here, but CMT now has a new “short version” of I Will Not Say Goodbye, where they just focus on the policeman.
I didn’t know that Sherry. I just went to look and now I see it. I always have Danny’s videos streaming and when I started it this morning I didn’t even look. But now I see it. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, and any others who haven’t noticed it. I think that’s great!!!

Just my opinion but I prefer the shorter version and I’m so excited that the shorter one is now out. I really think the longer one had too much talking and totally took away from the song and the flow. After a while people would get tired of hearing the same long stories. The song is now the highlight of the video and not the long stories.

The girl’s story is a personal one and the policeman story is more of a community story because he saved lives while on duty then lost his own life. That’s probably why they chose the policeman. The military guy’s story would have worked too, if that’s the case. Don’t you think?

I like the soldier’s story best, but my guess is they had all the footage from the policman’s story, so it worked best for the video.
Definately think a shorter version is better. To be honest, I have been a bit concerned that, as beautiful as the video is, the length of the stories might cause people to not watch the entire video. I sometimes skip the beginning and the end. I really wish they would simultaneously release the acoustic version.

that Detroit poll is really weird… yesterday there was a comment from a Carrie fan, asking what was the point of voting if they don’t play the songs that had the top votes… today the comment is gone. they deleted it…
I am glad that they now have a shorter version of IWNSGB out. I do think that the length of the first video was one of the reasons it wasn’t being played that much on TV. And might have been apart of the reason why GAC hasn’t picked it up yet.
I think that the shorter version will get more airplay. I agree with VickieCarol that the longer version of the video took away from the song and focused too much on the stories. I think that the shorter version is better.
I think that the Detroit countdown and possibly the
Minneapolis one as well is determined by combination of internet votes, plus emails/called in requests. I think that might be why Danny doesn’t make those polls that often, he does well with the internet voting, but probably doesn’t get a lot of emails/calls for his song to those stations.

For me, long or short music video, it doesn’t matter at all. if the fans and kinda fans really really love that video they will watch it no matter how long or how short it is. I think Dannyfans outside this wonderful site is not that too “active” I should say when it comes to this type of fandom… For me, that shortened video feels like something was missing or kinda “weird” in a sense of we are introduced to a more meaningful music video at first, it really feels awkward to watch it now. And even if they release a shorter version on itunes, I wouldn’t buy it at all, Im sticking with the longer version. I don’t think the video’s length, is not a valid reason at all. so they don’t play that video too much on those Music channels. Lets just see if the shorter version makes a difference in playing that video in the future… just saying my two cents on this one, don’t hate me…

Baltimore & Minneapolis do the top 5 songs at 8 (albeit in different time zones; Detroit & Wausau do 7 at 7; Milwaukee does 8 at 8; and D.C. does 9 at 9. COULD WICHITA BE 10 AT 10? Has anyone tried to listen to Wichita at 10:00 p.m. Central Time?
Also, I’m wondering if the polls that don’t show the numbers do that because they don’t rely solely on poll votes? Of course, Detroit doesn’t seem to fit that pattern.
Glad a Carrie fan thought to call Detroit on the seeming inconsistency.
Now sure how likely it is that Danny could beat Carrie, but don’t forget to vote in the Country Wekly poll!

We don’t hate you for liking the long version better. Everyone has their own favorite. At least now there are three different versions of IWNSG to suit everyone’s taste. But for the GAC and CMT shows there are different ones to chose from and I believe, like many others here, that the shorter version may be more suited for the countdown shows. Like Sherry said, this may be a good sign that IWNSG may soon be released to GAC.

GG, I don’t think there’s any hate here. People have different opinions at times but that’s it. I can’t imagine his male fans being that comfortable with some of the conversations but you if can still stick through it, good for you. If it was the opposite way for me I don’t think I could. Danny’s the one that started it though and it’s all good in nature. I have alot of respect for his male fans. He needs more of them though.
I just noticed a H2 the wolf WYCD station on same player as the other one. They have multiple cities on the same player and you see the listing under country music catergory. I wonder if this is the issue.

Cherie, Just wanted to tell you this story quickly. My brother passed away at 54 back in 2001. My mother never was the same after that happened. She is now 90 and has vascular dementia. She knows us because the disease is different than Alzheimers, but she has no short term memory. She lives in the past from age 25 to her childhood. Doesn’t remember my father, her husband at all. Have to keep reminding her that her parents are not alive. As horrible as the disease is, the one thing that is the saving grace is that she does not remember my brother’s death. I just tell her he is in Maryland working and comes to visit her often and she believes me Think that is one white lie I can abide.

That story is heart breaking. My grandmother had alzheimers and it was so sad, and although she did have a long life it was very hard on the family the last years of it.

Just watched the edited version of IWNSG; I like it.
I think it helps the continuity of the song by telling just one story, although…..I admit, the original is more comprehensive storytelling.

Thanks for posting that video of Danny singing “Raining On Sunday” on the main page. Danny is so adorable in the video. When he is singing the part where he says and pull the covers up, some women, or girls say Woo, then he raises his eye brows a couple of times. He’s too cute for words.

I totally agree with you about the new shorter version of IWNSG. A lot of us did speculate that there would be a shorter version coming out. Erika even asked someone on Danny’s team if there would be a shorter version of the video when the first one came out and they said no. So, either they didn’t want to let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, about the short version or at the time there wasn’t a plan to make a shorter version.

Mediabase afternoon chart has Dierks down quite a lot, interesting as he was in positives (barely) yesterday. Craig Morgan is also still down, and Randy Montana, Montgomery Gentry in shaky-looking territory for stalling out.
And looking at their chart more closely, they had Luke as #1 the week before last, so this weekend will be two weeks that he’s fallen down. Could be interesting if anyone goes recurrent.

I agree, losing a child would be the most devastating loss ever. I’ve often thought of that and wouldn’t think I could go on, although we do carry on. Cherie, I can’t even imagine your pain at times.

Oh, what a beautiful, perfect summer day! Went out at lunchtime to pick up something to eat. The sun is shining gloriously, it’s warm but not hot, there is no humidity, and there is a nice breeze. Perfect!
Even more perfect? A coworker stopped by my office, and in discussing our respective workloads, he told me that the one deadline that I thought was next week isn’t until the following week. (The other deadline is tomorrow, and I will make that one.) So I won’t have to stay at work until the wee hours of the night tonight, like I have been doing all week!
Tomorrow is a furlough day, so in theory I can vote more, although I suspect I will be on the phone with tech support most of the day trying to get my e-mail issues resolved.

Hi everyone! You guys are awesome with all of your voting! I am trying when I can – at work now but am trying to sneak on when possible.
Question for those going to see Danny in Sheboygan – tickets go on sale tomorrow – the 30th – correct? I checked the theater’s website and it still only says tickets are available soon. Also, are you purchasing them through Tickmaster or directly by calling the theater’s box office? I’m wondering what the best approach would be. Right now I think I may be in on this on my own. Is anyone else getting only 1 ticket? I’m also wondering if the seats will be assigned.

Had a great surprise this morning Twister 93.3 Council Bluffs/Omaha played IWNSG and they re-played Danny being at the station in PA. The Big D, Bubba show the one where they had the candles burning, and every time Danny went to growl they turned up the volume. I was just amazed I have been waiting, and well you know. I plan this evening to write to the station on the comment line. I just got off the Oprah site and left a nice comment there including the fact that we not only want Danny on there but about his Foundation in his wife’s name and how that got started.
I will go vote probably WPOC, good news on the video and CMT this song I have shared with friends that have lost children. They are just blown away with the words. Our own son Matthew lost his very good friend B and buried him on Matthews Birthday. There are no answers to any of our griefs but one answer I can tell you when this song gets out there for people to KNOW that it is there it will be a HIT! It says so much to so many and that is what Danny wants to do make a difference for the good of many.

A couple months ago, I let FOX and the “American Idol” producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on “Idol” and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.

Wow, Milgokey fan- I can’t figure out why milwaukee is so slow on the charts! I know Pam said they will come through. I just wonder when they will start playing his song more. Also, Minneapolis- I voted more on that one today too. Well, we can’t give up trying to get him on the countdown.

I checked out the Ticketmaster site and Danny Gokey is listed, with tix going on sale at 10:00 a.m. Do we think the Weill Center box office will be sitting at their computer on the Ticketmaster site and we would be faster ourselves getting them off of Ticketmaster?? The only thing I can think of for Milw is that they hardly ever play IWNSG so people (except us) don’t vote for it because they’ve never heard it. I remember wondering if a lot of the normal voters were “going north” for the weekend or otherwise busy with weekend plans. We normally have a light crowd here at iheart on Fridays, too. I was never keen on Ellen, didn’t think she was a good addition to the judges panel. They can replace Kara too, IMO.
Randy isn’t too exciting, but I always thought he had insight. He was the only one who dared to call Adam on his less than stellar performances (like the Pack Rat one) while everyone else followed the company line. And Randy never got on Danny about his dancing and obviously liked him, so of course I have a soft spot for him!

Tracy and Paula- So glad you are coming to Sheboygan! I’ll be there too. Already have my ticket from someone who is a Weil member; not sure if they obtained through Ticketmaster or the venue. Still no SHF passes up as far as I know.
It will be kind of strange having an assigned seat and not having to wait all day in line, lol! What would a Danny concert be without blinding sun, sweat, dehydration and shoving crowds, lol.
It would be nice if SHF had a presence at the WI shows like we did at Ho Chunk.

Pam, that tshirt is funny, guess it’s good that they’re trying to get some humor out of the situation! Steven Tyler is the lead singer of Aerosmith, the original “Dream On” guy. I don’t remember watching any interviews of his to get a sense of what he’s like. Same for JLo. Hmm. Wonder if they’ll keep Kara and Randy on. I kind of took a dislike to Kara this past season, wouldn’t be sad to see her go although I do think she could do a good job if she quit trying to make the show about inventing herself as a “personality”.

It might help if we have any listeners out in the Detroit / Minneapolis / Wichita areas who could listen to those DJs/shows and try to pick up what they say about how the votes are counted.
Possibly those stations have FB pages or twitter also that would give some cue.
Or try one of the other larger market stations for which we have a poll page, and see if writeins can work. I posted a few more last night, some others are Oklahoma City, Lansing, and two areas of Virginia.

Josie, I love Steven Tyler as a singer, just not so sure about personality- haven’t seen him talk much.
I am not so keen on Kara ever since she dissed Danny’s dancing instead of critiquing the singing at a very crucial moment for him (Dance Little Sister). And her behavior toward Casey this past season was pretty unprofessional, IMO.
Gotta admit I do love loopy Paula, she just always had such a kind heart.
Josie, so happy you obtained the tickets! I think I am almost as excited for you three as you are! One epic recap coming our way in October!!! I hope Canada shows up for him.

I always liked Paula too. I think they’re going to have a tough time finding something that’s a replacement for the Paula/Simon schtick, although that did get to be irritating sometimes.

Mr. Bing, the “Twin Cities” is an expression that refers to the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. They are right next to each other geographically. So if you find the poll for Minneapolis, that’s the one everyone is referring to when they say “Twin Cities.”

I’ve been seeing updates on twitter from KMPS about Danny’s labelmate Martina McBride, who is performing at Chateau Ste. Michele, a really nice outdoor venue, tonight. I don’t live far from there. It would be so cool if he would come there next summer. But I’m just happy that he’s coming out this way. Hope he gets a very warm response and wants to come back!
Well, but why come to the Pacific Northwest at the END of October, when the rainy season is around the corner? He needs to plan better next year. Maybe July, prime fruit season. Or August or September.
Asics & Josie, we will need to keep our eyes open for SHF passes, too. Haven’t checked yet. Gasp! (For Scranton, I’d gotten my SHF pass before I ever got my concert tickets!)

BTW Josie, I am NOT happy with KMPS….I have yet to hear Danny on that station and I know we get our requests in daily! I text my requests, alternating time of day to hit each DJ. I have only gotten a couple replys…one cool one that said “haven’t seen that on our playlist yet…yes, I LOVE it too.” It was not Tony Thomas though who I think is in charge at least to a degree. Do you think email, text, or call is most effective when requesting?

You can say you are such a fan that you traveled outside the country to see Danny in concert. Of course, Canada is not far, but it sounds impressive. Of course, you can’t beat Erika — she traveled to a different continent to see Danny.

Hi Ellen, thanks for remembering me, it’s been a while since I last posted, yes I live in Vancouver, so I was more than thrilled when I learned Danny’s coming to do a show here. However I have booked a day surgery to fix my sinus problems & it was just 2 days before the concert!! The waiting list is long so it’s a bit tough for me to re-schedule. I am hoping he’ll come to Pacific NW sometime soon. Can’t help feeling a bit depressed right now!

Franktastic, that’s a crummy break! But I’m hoping that while Danny is in the region that he’ll do another show here, maybe in Seattle! Maybe that will be before your surgery or a few days later so that you will have recovered enough to go. I really hope so, I hope you get to see him too.
Whoa! I come back & look what I find! Franktastic, maybe Janworth is rubbing off on me, but I am cautiously optimistic that they might fill in a date or two somewhere else — maybe Seattle or possibly Portland? Or somewhere else up in Canada? That’s a long way for them to travel for just one gig. Maybe there will be one or two other dates either before or after your surgery. BTW, best of luck with that! Also, we’re hoping that if the Pacific Northwest gives Danny a nice turnout, maybe he’ll come back next year — preferably during the summer. We own the summer — nowhere better to be than in the PNW!
