This is the page again about the SHF fundraiser next Sunday for anyone who would like tickets to attend to see Danny and the SHF choir, or alternately, if you’d like to join in our effort to donate these inexpensive ($10) tickets for family/friends/etc from the SHF choir’s disadvantaged community.
There are quite a few people who would like to attend supporting the kids and the SHF program, but who can’t easily afford the expense to be there.

I will have to go look for a copy today. I agree with some of the ihearties here about an obsession with Danny. I have never followed anyone in my life like I have followed Danny. About the wiki, someones have changed a lot of things yesterday… I brought back the picture that was deleted the day before. There’re still some changes I’m not sure about, but I think some of them need to be fixed.
On “Background information” part:
“Blue-eyed soul” or “blue-eyed soul”? This has been changed back and forth for some times.
On “American Idol” part:
This sentence is missing, I think this statement is good for Danny. Maybe we should add it back?

Great to see that the site is up again, for I really missed reading the daily discussion thread. So many people read the morning paper, but I read Iheart fans comments while having breakfast! That’s a pretty good way to start a day especially when I’m having to deal with a lots of info and heavy stuff at work and at my volunteer duties.

I think all your changes/corrections are good. I know Billy Preston did sing that song, but Joe Cocker is known for it. And WTH with Rascal Flatts. We know it is a hater for sure now, since they took out his record breaking sales.
I see Wiki might be a matter of repeatedly fixing it until the hater gets tired; I had to do that with his Amazon reviews; over the course of two weeks, kept bumping down the hater comments over and over. Finally they left!

Oh, Pam, I haven’t made any changes on wiki except add the picture back. All those diffs I listed above are something I’m not sure whether to keep them or change them back. Maybe others can figure that out. Even like the record breaking message, I’m pretty sure we should add that, I don’t want to try, ’cause you know… my English always has lots of grammatic mistakes… I don’t want to leave it on Danny’s wiki page…

Lulu I didn’t understand about how to add the references link, etc. If I put the words can you add the link with the hypens or whatever they want. His highest debut should be in there. as well as other stuff as well.
I do think it’s someone who really doesn’t like him, by removing positive things and then placing others in it’s place. His idol section was too small to begin with, I don’t think anyone has a smaller one. I wonder if it has to do with him being off billboard that someone is trying to rewrite history. He did very well on idol and needs to be credited with that. If he didn’t there’s no way he would have received a recording contract regardless of placement.
I also think we need to look up more references just to add more to it.

What I’m adding/writing up is DGD definitely his attendance count, his endorsement deal, more stuff from idol some positive comments/critiques from the judges, standing obviation at the end, pre concert at ACM with Lady A, return to idol I think, first opry appearance, Sophia’s Heart a few things, record release party at Turner Hall.
I think I have to leave Dream On, but for the idol songs I was going to use Hero, You’re so Beautiful and Come Rain or Shine for judges comments. Are there any reviews that people can recall that are really exception for his performances on idol or the tour that I can look at. I know he didn’t get alot of good media reviews on idol. Any other standouts?
For Sophia’s heart I thought of mentioning the scholarships, Thanksgiving dinners, Music Arts program and opening the location for flood relief.

Oh, great, someone is declaring “war” because Danny won the new male country artist poll? They are on the same label and seem to get along well. And it’s just a silly poll. In an earlier edition of Country Weekly, Chris Young won a poll for who should get the ACM award for best new male country artist, but in reality, the award went to Luke Bryan. I repeat, it’s a silly poll. (But it doesn’t hurt that Country Weekly see the interest in Danny; makes it more likely for them to cover him in future editions of the magazine.)

Something else I’ve been hearing about is Keith Urban doing a song(recording) with Kris if that happens that’ll put Kris on the country charts right along with Danny. I hope that Kris doesn’t knock his song off if that happens. Kris does seem to be edging in that direction as time goes on. It’s nice that Keith likes him and wants to help him out but I don’t want it to be IWNSG’s bump off the charts.

It’s a chris young fangirl, not Chris himself. i commented back to her on twitter, she seems pretty stubborn though, lol. I like Chris well enough, but I wouldn’t vote for him on a “new” artist poll anymore than I think Luke Bryan should have won that “new” artist ACM award recently.

I think the Kris fans are a bit overestimating the KU fanboy of KA aspect. One of the country blogs seems to ask KU questions about KA a lot, seems to be a KA fan as well. I’m not sure what that would even do for Kris, who continues to say he has no intent to go country. Keith isn’t a crossover artist who IMO would be likely to appeal to Kris’s core fanbase, and I’m not sure Keith’s pop crossover appeal is strong enough to bring Kris along on his coattails. Assume any song they may or may not someday collaborate on, would even be a crossover song and be anything more than a bonus track or one-off thing.

Cherie, for a Danny devotee you are taking a huge jump here—that Kris doing a song with Keith would impact Danny. First, the chart doesn’t prevent both from being on at the same time. Secondly, who knows when it will be released (if it is) and third, you’re assuming it will be better than IWNSGB.

Anyone interested in seeing Danny really heating up a stage–I’d recommend the upcoming show at the Longbranch! It is probably a standing room only show and if its like the other club dates, it will be great. Lucky people that can make it to Raleigh!

I think Luke Bryan’s going to win the “new artist” at the CMA’s this year. I know that it’s a while for the nom’s yet.
With the charts though it would do more with overcrowding of idols than them personally like that Kelly, Danny, Carrie and Bucky all can’t get on the charts at the same time and stay. Carrie’s a given but I guess everyone else takes turns. If Kris comes on board that’s one more although it could see just for one song. Similiar to other pop/country songs that are just done once. Without Keith I don’t think he could do better but with him, maybe he could. I know that Emily West was an unknown so it didn’t work for her. Uncle Cracker got the top with Kenny so it’s a possibility. I don’t think Smile is going to get to the top though I really don’t think he’s country. It’s just something to consider.

Jan, I agree, positioning Chris Young as “new” is kind of strange. I suppose “new” is relative though. There are people on the country charts who are old enough to be Danny’s Mom or Dad, and actually I think that’s great. At 30, he is still quite young in country music, whereas someone the same age just starting in pop music is getting pretty long in the tooth for that. I love it that people can have country music careers for so long. I left a comment on that “war” twitpic too:

I’m not sure about Wiki now because someone changed the changes already that I made. I fixed Billy Preston and a few others but they put it back. So if I change anything else they’ll put it back. I wish I would know who’s doing this to him. He should have control over this Wiki page and not the haters. I fixed a few other things and they’re gone already. They removed again his highest charting debut in 18 years on there.

As far as who first did the songs, I don’t know on that. It seems to me it should relate to who the performers said they were covering on the show, vs. earlier versions of the songs. Clearly for WHTM Danny referred to the RF version and for YASB they talked about Joe Cocker.
If other AI wikipedia entries do it the other way, I suppose it’s fair for them to say that on Danny’s however.

Probably have, but it didn’t seem familiar. Yet another instance though where you can see how much interest these radio stations are getting in Danny compared to other visiting artists. Over 7000 views of his clip on YT, vs. a bit over 1000 for Chuck Wicks 4 months older clip, and just a few hundred for David Nail and Sarah Buxton. Maybe you can credit that to Danny’s visit coming just before he hit AI9 but still…

. He is so great live. That’s bound to continue to help him for future concerts. What is with people who want to mess with someone’s personal information? I think that is so juvenile for people to be sabotaging wiki. It’s too bad the people who oversee that site can’t moderate it better. As far as Keith Urban helping Kris Allen, I really don’t think Kris will go country and I don’t see Kris as a threat to Danny at all. I’m sure KU would help Danny also if need be. That was great to see Danny won by a landslide on new artist in Country Weekly. Even if it is just a poll, I’m sure there are a lot of people who buy the magazine or see it online. Steph, I remember seeing Danny in that jacket, I remember thinking it was the same one that he was wearing when TMZ filmed him on the way to the movies and he wouldn’t talk to them. Not sure if this is where I saw it or not. It says this was 3/1 at a CO station. If there is an easy way for you to check the archives maybe you could see if it was posted before or not. Steph, with as many radio stations that Danny visited since January, how could any of us have kept up? Plus sometimes the lag time for a station to post a video is really long! I (nicely) hounded Q106.3 for a long time from their first meeting with Danny last fall/winter. CMA’s? I get so confused with all of the award shows….

I do find the YT analysis interesting. If you click on ‘most viewed’ for that station’s channel, that video of MBD is far and away the winner with nearly ~7500 views for video that’s been up for 4 months.
Next closest of any video is less than 3000 views, up for a year. And that doesn’t seem to be a performanance video. Highest performance clip I see is a year-old entry with ~1200 views. So in a third of the time, Danny has ~6x more viewers.
I hope we get some video or at least a lot of pics from the Western Thunder event.

If you highlight over the names, it shows you how many people have signed up for each performer so far. Danny is in the group big-letter names at the top (aaaah) as he’s in the evening lineup at the big football arena. He doesn’t have as many signed up as the big name established acts, and probably he benefits from being in the higher placed group, but he’s doing very well for a newbie nonetheless.
What’s interesting is if you look how many people have signed up for some of the other names in the smaller-lettered group. Danny looks really really good in comparison to a lot of them there. David Nail with a recent #1 song and another on the charts, less than 300 people, eeps.
Jerrod Niemann who some ad was alleging to be the next great new country star, barely 100 people signed up.
Bonus with that page, if you click around the CMAFest site, every now and then Danny shows up as the featured background image

BTW, I watched the David Nail video before I watched Danny’s on the link above. Danny is a much stronger/engaging performer. David had his eyes closed a lot; seldom made eye contact with the audience. Wouldn’t you love to overhear what the other male solo singers are saying/thinking when they watch Danny perform live? Hearing and seeing…. AND he is still a newbie. Helio/Rowansmom and Maryann predicted it a long time ago.

Jan, that’s exactly the impression David Nail made on me when I saw him at Coyote Joe’s the night Danny was there and Mallary Hope. Very self-contained and not a lot of rapport with the crowd. He does have a good voice though singing live, and the audience knew his hit song Red Light and was singing along with him for that.
Although when he was at the Opry in March, David did much better I thought, and even made a little joke about keeping his eyes open when he sings.
I don’t know much about James Otto except that he is connected into the newer Nashville music scene that came in with Big & Rich (Gretchen Wilson is another of those) some years back. And I believe he was at one of the fundraisers recently and/or the ACM awards show so Danny probably met him before today.

Question just came up on MJs regarding idols set list time at concert. Someone said they are limited to one hour, Jan or Pam if you are around how long was Danny’s show at Ho Chunk?

Danip, I posted on there that if that’s a rule, Danny is breaking it on a regular basis. He was at least 80-90 minutes in Orlando, and I believe that was pretty much the same show he did in Tampa, Atlanta, and Chicago if not also Ho-Chunk.
And certainly hoping it’s the same nice long show they’ll be doing at Raleigh next Friday, lol.

It just gets silly sometimes, I’m sure Carrie and others have done longer sets than one hour, sometimes the excuses come out of thin air and get bigger and bigger depending on who is posting.

Or it’s Adam’s choice because his set will be so exceptionally vocally difficult, lol. I don’t know that he’s the first where they need to protect their voice, and all of his songs can’t be equally hard on his voice.
And what does that mean for in the future, that he will never in his career progress to more than an hour a show because his voice would be too strained? Can’t think of many big acts who could get by with that year in and year out.

glad Danny does what he feels up too and makes the necessary adjustments. His shows are for the fans and they know it. The question becomes would you rather something be absolutely perfect or something people coming to the show could feel they got their monies worth.

Finally, I received my Danny CD via DHL! It was gifted to me by the generous doctor from Alaska. She is a blessing to lots of American Idol fans.

I’ve fixed most of these things by just copying and deleting. Hopefully I didn’t leave any mistakes…

I guess it’s a sign of ~something that there is so much interest in Danny’s wikipedia page. But eeps, guess I’m glad not to have realized the drama and sabotaging that goes on there by people I would have thought had no reason even to be looking at it.
For Danip, lol. Latest theory is it is because they are casino shows. WHich again is a ‘rule’ Danny is breaking as far as I’ve heard from Ho-Chunk and the one he did near Memphis. (Wasn’t there a third casino somewhere earlier on as well?)

Went shopping today. Won’t go into detail, but I started channeling Jan — you know, the iheartie who brings Danny’s name into the conversation with total strangers, and usually gets positive results? Anyway, I mentioned Danny’s name to the saleslady, and she immediately responded, “My daughter’s boyfriend loves Danny Gokey!” Then she asked me if I had seen him when he was in Portland. I said yes. She said the boyfriend really wanted to go, but had to work. Nice to know Danny has male fans!

Lulu, you don’t need to worry, you are perfectly clear. I have never had difficulty understanding anything you say. I just read through the wiki and nothing jumped out at me as wrong. There’s a weird comparison to David Cook, but nothing horrible. One thing it says is that Danny sang “Just Go” and “All Night Long” with Lionel Richie. I don’t recognize the song name “Just Go”, was that really one of the songs? I have the video and can watch it if no one knows for sure.

There are not enough hours in the day to work full time, do stuff around the house, water my flowers outside, and check on Twitter, Facebook, Rascal Flatts Fan Club, email, and here….etc. (i’m sure lots of you have the same prob) But I want to meet lots more Danny fans and keep up on what he is doing, soooo I will be trying my best! It’s one reason I only get about 5 hrs of sleep at night

Thank you for fixing it Lulu it was more than frustrating me. I’m not sure it’ll let me edit the page anymore. That message was removed so it got put back on the page. I wish the haters would leave it alone. The part with the record breaking was near the top and that’s not there anymore otherwise it’s a bit better. I think we need to watch the page closely for a while though because that made my stomach sick and they could say worse. And now I’m not sure I could remove it so I might be stuck. It’ll be in the post idol section if it appears. I hope he didn’t see it.

I think that person call Caldorwards4 could be some administrator or something like that. He reverted those changes because he didn’t know why you made the changes. So if everytime we just add some info in the Edit summary, and don’t forget the ref link if there’s any, it could be better.
But the one called Babylambskank, definitely a hater, no doubt about that.

At least his billboard chart didn’t move backwards this time. His sales haven’t been touched either. I agree with waiting for trying to add something else to it.
Here’s the changes I tried most of them are still there:
Put it back to Rascal Flats, Harold and Joe Cocker. It went back and forth alot today with that one. Changed the billboard back to #24 and the album sales to 155,000. Removed the bad message. Add the record breaking but it was removed again. Removed David Cook reference and rephrased that sentence. Add’s Sophia’s heart name to the first paragraph.

Hi! I’m so glad the site is back up. Tried to look at it before I went away for the weekend on Thursday. Almost went into a panic because it wasn’t there. Just got back tonight and I actually crossed my fingers when I clicked on Iheart. I also read this site with my breakfast instead of the newspaper. I was out of sync all day Thursday because I couldn’t get my morning “fix”. Glad to hear that Danny’s new single is coming out soon and can’t wait to see the new video.

I think we are a very organized fan base. So many of us take on different “jobs” for Danny, whether it is SHF, keeping his “official web site” active, checking wiki, defending against haters, voting, etc etc.
Lol, someone at MJs just said something about one hour singing being standard (“except for Gokey who appears to be a vocal ironman”) Probably snarking, but I got a kick out of that because he is very tough! and also because of the RDJ Ironman reference!

Oh, he SO IS! That made me laugh though, he gets lots of teasing about the iron man thing because of his resemblance to Robert Downey Jr. I don’t know if you ever watched the Big D & Bubba show that Steph posted here not too long ago, but it was so funny. Danny took his glasses off and looked at them and they basically freaked out at how much he looks like RDJ. And it went on from there. He does seem to be pretty tough vocally though. He’s been getting over a cold the last couple of shows but from accounts of people who were there, one would never know from the quality of his singing.

Oh, I think I did everything backwards! I followed a few people from iheart before I knew how to create a profile. Not that I’m providing much information. If I figure out how to do it, I’ll add my gravatar so people will recognize me. I took that picture of Danny myself, so unless there is a way for someone to steal it, that should help assure iheart twitter folks of who I am.

I knew you were following me before your tweet b/c I saw my number of followers go up, and it took me just a sec to realize it was you, and I followed you back. When you send out a tweet as you did with no “prefix”, it will be seen only by people who are following you. So I saw it since I had clicked on follow. If you want to send a tweet to someone who is not following you, you have to put their twitter name in the box, e.g. if you want to write something to Danny, you’d do it like: @dannygokey Hi Danny!

Ellen, another thing I didn’t realize right away is that if someone writes a tweet to me, it doesn’t show up in my timeline unless I am following them. To see those, I have to click on the @JosieInSeattle that’s right below the “Home” line on the right side of the page. I think that’s so weird, but that’s how it works apparently.
Josie, that is helpful (about putting in the name on nonfollowers). BTW, I tried to upload my gravatar as my profile picture, but every time I try to do it, I get the whale. I’m wondering if the file size is too big?

Actually, I’m glad, because I had not yet protected myself from being followed by others (which means I’m gonna hafta follow everyone first, before they can follow me in return, if they want to). Right after you followed me, some strange person started following me, but I blocked them.

Ellen, if I’m the only one following you so far, yes, I’m the only one who saw it then. You will get random followers although I guess protecting your tweets stops that. I usually just block and report them for spam if they’re ones trying to sell porn. Sometimes random ones show up that are attracted in some way by things you’ve tweeted about. Some I follow back and some I don’t, and if you don’t follow them back they usually go away at some point – some of these are businesses and I think it might be some kind of automated process, I don’t know though. Even though your tweets are protected, I think people can still see your tweets in search results. For example if people want to know what other people have tweeted to me (as if anyone ever would!), they would do a search on @josieinseattle, and if you had written to me I believe it shows up in that search result. But you can always send a DM to anyone who is following you, and then only that person sees it. You can only send DMs to someone who is following you though. So right now if you’re following Pam but she’s not following you yet, she could send you a DM but you could not send her one, until she follows you.

Ellen, one more thing while I’m thinking about it. When I replied to you, the only people who will see my reply in their timeline are people who follow both of us. So to use Pam as an example again. I follow her, and when she tweets to someone else I follow, I see what she says. If she tweets to someone I don’t follow, it does not show up in my timeline. But if I click on her name, I will be able to see all of her tweets, whether or not I follow the people she has tweeted. Of course that would not be true if she protected her tweets.
