Danny is still at #26 but up some 46 spins from the last chart on mediabase. I think his numbers would be higher if he had more audience impression, it would really help if Milwaukee got back in the game
Hard to see looking at the other placers how Taylor Swift and Keith Urban won’t be pulled at the end of the week, and maybe ZBB although ZBB has been staying in 5th place though losing spins. Martina (#14) and Tim McGraw (#17 now, only got as high as #15) both still looking shaky though not in a hard fall yet. Whenever MBD eventually starts to fall off the chart, we should remember it happens to all of them.

I think this was one of the dates where Julianne and Vonda Shephard were the supporting acts? Don’t see either of them mentioned though.
This says the Sugarland tour set was only 1 hour 20 minutes, which seems encouraging in hopes for a longer Danny set.

Glad to see Danny’s song is back up on spins. MBDAAOM was #25 on Billboard this week and should be #24 next week because Taylor will be pulled. Zac Brown Band will probably be on a another week and neither Tim McGraw or Martina McBride’s songs are 20 weeks so they will stay on as well. I see Danny moving up to #24 on both mediabase and Billboard since MB still has both Taylor and Urban on it and BB already pulled Urban.
Could use a few votes on 9 at 9 on WMZQ – looks like Danny has some competition today.

Steph I think it’s not only that stations are not playing the song as much but they are playing again on the overnights, this causing him not to gain the greater audience impressions.
Once he got in to this group the going gets much tougher and the gaps bigger in the spin count. The difference between 26-24 is 200 spins approx and 1 million in audience impressions.

He still has more spins ahead then Giddy on Up. Yeah!!!!
Love and Theft is barely getting played so they will be gone too. Taylor #22 with 1800 and he’s at #26 with 1400. So their gap is getting smaller. He’ll definitely hit #24 this week. I think Carrie will pass him right away or by mid next week. Blake I think it’ll be at least another week if not more. He should be around 1000 next week.

I heard that part in the interview when they tell Danny that his label needs to step up the promo to give it more of a push. Something like that. I think it’s needed to get in the top 20. I know they are right in saying that. It’s growing but their promo dept needs to working on this. Not TV appearances or anything that like. Whatever works with radio instead. Especially with him being just outside the top 20 next week.

I’m still confused on the Billboard thing. The week of May 8, his album is #132 overall, #26 country. His song of course #25.

Cherie basically we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes but I have no doubt the label is working radio. There was never going to be instant stardom, Danny will pay his dues.
As for the chart positions as his song moves up the chart on the radio more people will become exposed to his music. His album moves down the chart because new albums come out every week in all genres, some that sell alot more than Country albums.

Example- his video count on you tube is around 65,000. Pray for you is at 1.7M already, Giddy on Up is around 800,000. Has anyone tried to tweet his music video on Vevo or on You Tube. To sort of up pass this the music video around and his counts higher.

Josh Thompson’s last one is at 500,000-he’s new too. Easton’s is at 1.4M. He needs the help with this. I know that people are watching it on the countdowns. But he’s way too far behind everyone else on this one thing.

That’s interesting about the videos, I’ve never exactly been sure how some of those videos rack up huge view totals. Easton Corbin’s single is a great song, but the video for it is nothing special to easily let me imagine peeps watching it on line over and over and telling all their friends. Since I’ve been watching for Danny, Easton’s video also was never that high on GAC or CMT even when his single was in the top 5 on radio.
Josh Thompson’s song has been out forever if it’s the one I’m thinking of (about beer, lol), so that would be part of the explanation. MBD video only came out in February (?), and it wasn’t posted to YT from an official Danny source until well after it had the launch via AI.com, CMT/GAC. Danny probably had a ton of views at AI.com in particular, that don’t show up in the totals now for the posted at dannygokey.com / dannygokeyvevo.com.
Even now there are more than one dividing views — the original YT file that just has Danny’s pic and the audio of MBD for example has 239,706 views. Plus they have audio streaming separately in various places.
And Danny continues to draw noticeably more interest in videos posted from his radio interviews than a lot of other artists. Look at the viewcounts for Big D and Bubba for example, for the Danny interview videos posted just 2 days ago.

Danny’s got more than Joe Nichols who was also on the show in the past day or two, and currently has the #1 song on radio.
I think as long as Danny has a healthy amount for things like video views, he’s ok. He doesn’t need to be setting records at them. There’s not an equivalency in those measures to actual success — just look at Josh Thompson whose album debut was less than 20,000 copies?

His song on you tube is fine. It’s just the music video count that I would consider that’s too low. Allison’s at 80,000 and she didn’t work. I wasn’t able to find any major country ones less than him except for Mallory Hope’s new song-her older one is around 80,000. I won’t think that this might not matter so much. I initially did that it’s sales. But Easton and Laura were nominated for Break Through Videos. It’s more than the countdown shows. Even the corn song is over 200,000. Even if other videos have been out longer, his still needs to be seen more.

I don’t think Josh Thompson sold that many to date at all. I doubt it’s even half of Danny’s. But his song seems to be doing better on radio, climbing/moving faster than his other one. So it’s not all about sales.

No, not all about sales. Don’t see Josh Thompson singing at an ACM event, nor (could be wrong) on the big stage at CMA Fest. Is he touring in any prominent way or able to draw audiences of 1000-2000 some nights as a headliner? Not sure that he is.
Lots of different measures can be looked at. Danny has more than a few where he looks really good compared to some of the other newbie artists, and even some of the established ones. It would certainly help him keep momentum though and grow his sales / career to have his single do even better on radio and keep selling those CDs.

Yes, Steph I am a little confused; do all the different fan sites count as views toward the same video; as well as GAC and CMT? Somehow I doubt it.
I think Danny may have his video on many different places.
I do click on the CMT one daily as well as the button with his name on CMT. I think getting his video played on TV by voting is more important than internet viewing; if anyone wants to prioritize.
I notice Danny has his button on the bottom along with all top names like Keith, Lady A, Zac Brown, Carrie etc- only 8 of them total. No Easton, Laura Lee, or any other new artist
Not sure how he received that honor (lots of interest?) but its pretty darn cool.
There is only so much management can do to push a song; and I agree Danip, Danny will not get instant stardom; in fact I think that would be detrimental ( a la Gretchen Wilson).
Even Adam, who has more promotion than any Idol ever (winner or runner up) is not a superstar, despite what his fans say, lol. As 19 itself said he is “struggling”, even with massive promo.
Do I want Danny to get to top 20- of Course! Just trying to temper expectations/explain why he isn’t bounding up the charts. I think Country and radio like him; I just have a gut feeling they are making him pay his dues. I hope I am right, for Danny’s sake.

I can’t see Josh at major events though but I’m rooting him. It’s a hometown thing. He’s got a tour for an opener though, maybe Brad. I do think Danny is way more successfull than him, it’s just the video count thing.

Darius Rucker is the main supporting act touring with Brad.
Do see on Josh’s webpage that he has some dates listed, he seems to be one of the ~4 or more other acts Brad is bringing along to do afternoon shows before the main show. Easton Corbin is one of the others, maybe also Steel Magnolia.

The way to get new viewers exposed is through the TV countdowns so make sure you vote everyone!

I think all the sites that have the video are different. The count is the same for You Tube and Vevo, so those two are linked together. The only time I saw it mentioned on twitter is for the countdown shows, not people just watching it out of the blue. I do see a lot of people listing to his single though so that helps.

The videos may all be different. I thought they were linking back to the same place. But CMT seems to have a direct copy, or at least that is all that visible. The video on DGO appears to run from a Brightcove service, and the one on his official YT is Vevo.
Unless Vevo is the same as Brightcove (don’t think so), those would all be separate counts.

Also I’m still reading that thread at mjs about Danny/Kris being on QVC. I still don’t agree with some of the stuff being said in that thread from some Kris/Adam fans. I think that will be a nice opportunity for Danny and Kris to gain more sales.
Also, I am excited that Danny’s starts touring with Sugarland next Thursday. I can’t wait for video of him performing on tour shows up.

I did look it up, Josh Thompson will be at CMA Fest in June, but he’s one of the Riverfront acts not on the main arena stage where Danny will perform.
The bigger name acts, for the most part, are in the evening shows. This is Danny’s company at LP Field the first night: Jason Aldean, Danny Gokey, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, and Carrie Underwood.

Missed that, Pam. OMG there are people around here that travel their just to go on tours of their studio. My sister and law and sister’s mother in law are like QVC junkies. Best yet, they run and re-run these shows until they sell everything. So, he is going to get some very real exposure out of that cheesy little stint.

Hi guys. It sounds like danny is starting to get some promotion. I really think he is a bankable artist, especially in Nashville. He seems pretty well liked. I am so excited his tour is almost here. It will be really interesting to see how his QVC sales will be. I’m glad Danny is so humble, that it doesn’t bother him to do whatever it takes to get him noticed. I really think a year from now, he will have really gained in popularity. Great to see he has a good crowd tonight.

One reason why we have nothing to worry about for sales regarding sales. We know he gets sales spikes when he performs. With there performance today, Kris Amazon ranking is 467, Allison is 1210, her’s might have moved up a bit. I don’t see either of there albums on the top 200 on ITunes for Pop. Maybe’s its too soon and it’ll show more tomorrow but it doesn’t look like it helped their sales that much right now.

About the music videos even though there’s not a count visible. Laura’s hit the 1M mark already on CMT.com. That’s where I came with watching his on line. Her song already hit #1 in houston a few weeks ago thankfully it was only briefly and they are playing it less than before. His song never got played over 40 times by one station when it first came out. I wish he would book more dates down here to show people that he’s one heck of a country artist. I know he has one coming up sometime.

Danny must be so pumped to be beginning the Sugarland Tour! I think Danny’s performance style will fit well with what I’ve heard about Jennifer Nettles. High energy and a lot of crowd interaction.
Plus a little “normalcy” (if touring can be a normal life…) must sound good from the crazy 4 months that D has been experiencing!

He is #20 on CMT Top 20, last week he was #19, but we know that one isn’t calculated by just the fans votes. At least he is still on the chart.
CMT 12 Pack, well, they wait before posting theirs so hopefully he is still ranking high on that one too.

I am a little uncomfortable with the posting info about private things like home sales. While I understand the interest the publishing of the address just doesn’t sit right, and yes I know the agt posted it first.

Maybe it’s only one, they advertised it literally as his parents house. It must be a good selling point. Some one even asked for the address and they put in the facebook page so it’s no secret or anything like that.

There public about it, otherwise I won’t have put anything here. The address is on their front web page. It’s not just the one place. If it would’ve not been ok I think his name would be out of it. Danip, I do understand on what you are saying though.
Danny is business savvy. The premium of this house will definitely go up once his name is attached to it and it will be sold quickly.
It is not easy to sell properties these days when the economy is in doldrums .
The more people knows about this property is for sale the better. This is just my opinion.

I know that he must with ok and if it helps him sell it better/faster more power to them. He’s helping his family out that what counts. I can’t imagine there’s a lot of houses that are selling quickly so it’s good for them.
Danny isn’t on the 9@9 list anymore. I was voting on it and all of a sudden when I refreshed again the pictures changed. Kellie is still on it but not Danny, Bucky isn’t on the new list either.
I know Adam Lamberts parents are divorced. To my knowledge Danny’s aren”t.

Re: MJs snobby minions, they are saying some seriously offensive things about Kris and Danny. Like Danny has nothing better to do… are they kidding?
I think their idol god would be offended by their insinuations. Are we to assume that Adam is too good to appear before ‘simple americans’, since he has so many international dates?
Cherie has this QVC issue pegged for now. That is, until he releases his men’s makeup line.
I know it is a matter of public record regarding homes for sale. I’m sure the company selling the home wanted to make sure everyone knew it was related to a celebrity. But, unfortunately with the internet, a lot of unsavory people have access to private information that shouldn’t be put out there. I agree when it comes to Danny’s family, it should not be broadcast. I’m sure as Danny becoms a more public figure there will be private information that will leak out. That is the not so nice side of being a celebrity.
Clicking on the advertisement, it says Kris, Kimberly, Danny and Others are appearing. Hmmm…. Hope none of their demi gods appear. If so, they are going to be in need of some ketchup to swallow their crow.

There are definitely some snobby people on mjs including both Adam/Kris and Kradam fans. One of the Kris/Kradam fans was being very snobby over there, and saying stuff like Kris is an artist and talking about how QVC is beneath him.
I’m glad Danny isn’t snobby and uppity like that.

I know Danny is pretty open about a lot of things, but he hasn’t talked about his or his parents homes other than to say he recently bought a house in Milwaukee and that someday he wants to own one in Nashville.
I think his family has significantly pulled back from being in “the news”. His brother’s wife even told me that she doesn’t want pictures of her family put online. It makes sense to be cautious in this crazy world.
I can’t imagine what it must be like to “suddenly” have an internationally famous sibling. Lots of changes to a regular Milwaukee family.
I say if it makes some of us a little uncomfortable, we should probably “listen” to that feeling and respect it. But, I’ll admit I’m as “gokey curious” as the next fan. No grief intended. Jan
Looks like Danny will be selling his CD. Kris too. Same for Kimberly, who will be releasing it before it is available in stores on QVC.

My, my, quite the lively discussion tonight. I just have this to say about QVC. I’ve never seen it before but just watched a few minutes online. I can see how it could get addictive (maybe it’s my personality). I will be prepared to spend some money when Danny is on

Laughing to myself, because the idoltard person refers to herself as a minion. Too darn funny! They are just lucky I didn’t tell them something even more ridiculous to disarm them. I could seriously have some fun with them, but I don’t want MJ to ban me. I have too much Danny defending to do.
About the divorce info, I didn’t make it up…lol. I kept reading it at various places last summer, but wasn’t really sure because I never saw it in any legit news article. Then, one of his sisters at some point mentioned in a tweet something to the effect of, “I never knew my step mom was so hilarious.” (that’s not a direct quote, but that was the gist of it). When I read that tweet, it pretty much confirmed it for me.
I think the QVC thing will be good for Danny. Danny really is a natural in front of the camera and he gets better and better all the time. I think that his likeable personality will win him fans. And if he’s able to sing his song, then that’s even better. I wish they would let these guys sell their cds on the channel, too. That would be awesome!

Oh, and Josie, I’m sure you know that when I quoted “my good friend” on mj’s the other day, I was referring to you. I didn’t know if you would want to take any backlash from the quote, so I didn’t use your name. But from the moment I read “Idolatry induced hysteria” I was impressed with your ability to sum up the situation so well. As it turned out, I was pretty much the last person at the party at mj’s that night, so it didn’t matter anyway. I’m not sure if anyone even read what I wrote…lol.
Since it’s now being reported that Kim will be performing, I hope that Danny gets to perform as well. I definitely think him performing could help him sell more CD’s.

They will get a chance to offer people the opportunity to buy their CD. I definitely think this will give them a boost in album sales. And I could see Danny doing well with this, and doing even better if he gets to perform.

For those who read at Mjs, with regards to my last post, I didn’t want to say, but it’s very true, that EVERYONE that I have talked with in my real life about last year’s idol season, mentions Danny or Adam as their favorites or at least the best singers. When they mention Kris, it is to say that he shouldn’t have won. I didn’t want to say that, but it’s very true.
Even the one girl (a student) that I knew who was a Kris fan last year, told me that she loved Kris and loved his new song, but that he probably won because he was cute. She told me that this year. She also told me that she loved Danny’s song about “birthday wishes” lol, and that she was going to ask her parents to buy her his album for her birthday. I have no idea if she did. This was back in March.

It just amazes me how some people never miss an opportunity to put others down to pump up (not even themselves- at MJs today it was a case of Adam fans trying to pump him up at the expense of Danny and Kris).

Amy, you are correct about Danny’s parents. His dad is remarried. I remember them showing the two of them in the audience during AI. I’m not sure if they ever showed his mom.

The show went great, Danny had the full band this time (new guitar player Brian, Ivan, Brandon, drummer Mike, and steel guitar/etc. guy who I’m thinking is probably @fiddlerdan?)
Danny described Nashville as like his hometown now (sorry Milwaukee peeps), and mentioned that Mark Bright was in the audience
He did bring a girl up on stage for Back at One, and he and Brandon took turns singing. Didn’t appear that Brian Oaks sings.
They had the merchandise table out for CDs and SHF gear. Got varying numbers of visitors before the show started but big big line that seemed to be waiting for Danny to sign things as I walked out. Hope they all bought CDs
