Steph, yesterday he was at 1470 which was a new peak. I think that he is still getting a lot of overnight spins and sometimes those don’t reflect until the next day, so we may see that count go back up tomorrow.

Wanted to drop in to say how cool that billboard is with Danny’s lovely mug on it. Too cute. Also, love how the video for IWNSG looks. I am so glad they choose to just showcase Danny in these videos as opposed to going the silly actors route. I am still upset with Darius Rucker’s video for ‘History in the Making’. Every time I watch that video, all I can think is why? why? why? WHY?
I was thrilled when I heard those DJs say they thought Danny would be as big as Carrie in a couple years too Mr. Bing!

Oh, I also wanted to mention, I think it’s a useful thing for everyone to check out the website of their local stations to see which syndicated shows they have, and that will give some guidance on where to focus in requesting from the syndicated shows. There are some that want to know what station you listen to them on. Some of the websites for the shows have info about what stations play them, but not all do. If that’s available it was noted on the Request Danny Gokey page.

The Fox interview was great, gave us a taste of the new video; can’t wait to see it, maybe AI will post it on their website like MND – thx for posting Steph.
I’ve email the program director of KMLE in Phoenix to no avail. That’s a total 180 from the KNIX radio station; they responded within 72 hrs. with a nice response and then added Danny to their playlist shortly thereafter. Hmmm, not good PR for their station; I’ll keep writing bearing in mind what has been said here about station managers don’t like to be hounded with calls and emails. Wish me luck
That interview with those two DJ’s was soooo funny, enjoyed seeing Danny being compared to Robert Downey Jr. He’s so cute without his glasses.

in the rankings the passion and positives went up 
. Unfortunately the dislike/strongly dislike scores also rose slightly but are still lower than some higher ranked songs including Reba’s good old Luke’s and Giddy Up that has a whopping 7.2% strongly dislike rating.

Josie, the info you gave on the spins for MBD’s was enough for me to call the station KXKT Omaha. The after midnight with Brian Gardner is sindicited so I was able to ask how come you are not playing Danny Gokey’s song during the day? After all he came into the station and spent one hour with your on air people then sang for a group of people for an hour including signing autographs could you not at least play his song? That prompted you need to talk to Craig Allen who does all the on air programming and I plan to follow up with that, in an email.
Just wonder if this is not happening to all the radio stations Danny worked so hard with his radio tour, now they are not following up playing his song? I wish now I had kept track of the stations starting back the first of January. Then we could call those stations and ask are you playing his song? If No then why are you not after the time he spent giving to you so your listeners could hear him??? So would you please re-consider playing his song MBD’s. KXKT is not playing his song during the day at all, I have given up evan asking so now I will go to the guy who decides yes or no.
Somehow this is just ringing right to me.

Sharon, I am so glad you are trying so hard, Billie I saw your post too! That’s great. I noticed on the Fox 17 video that the reporter passed along a message from Danny to his fans to please keep requesting the song and the video. I am glad he is being proactive about asking, I think that’s important.
I updated the Texas thread on DGO that I had done awhile back, with info on the syndicated shows. As I mentioned last time, I don’t really know all that many people on twitter so if anyone can help out by RTing, that would be great.

If people end of liking Giddy on Up more than his song, than will make me feel sick. Houston is playing less of it thankfully.
Josie-I don’t know if the station in Corpus Christi is one of the major ones. But they have one of the two of the countdowns on two different stations. CMT and ACountry countdown. I think the stations in San Antonio are the same. My request count has to be near 300 in the past month between a few of the stations. It’s been more than one depending where I’m at which is in between some areas. Houston has gotten most of mine though.

Actually they should make his album available on air, two years ago Clay Aiken did a half hour segment and sold 27,000 albums. The added a second disc of non album material and it sold for 27.50 plus he did 4 songs in studio.

Are you sure they will let him can sell his album though? If not I don’t think it’s good for either of them. They should make Allison do this as well. The whole thing about him having to selling idol merchandise sounds like a downgrade.

There is no reason why he can’t sell the album on QVC. I did not mean to imply that it would be part of this segment but hey a sale is a sale if they can get it done. Nothing Danny does that introduces him to a new group of people that don’t know he has an album out is ever a waste.

Clay sold 27,000, Elton John and Barry Manilow also did the same thing. Barry sold something like 65,000. I know artist like Garth Brooks also have sold through this route. People with credit cards and a phone are great shoppers.

I hope this goes ok for then him. Allison needs it more than he does though. Him selling 20,000 hopefully more won’t be bad. I just don’t want him to sell 20,000 group photos of Season #9 and not that many of his cd. I don’t mind his being there, it’s just the part of him selling idol that bothers me. He already promotes it enough in interviews.

Kris fans are having a fit at mj’s about the QVC thing. Here’s what I said:
Well I say, polish up those choppers and smile, boys. Danny and Kris are both adorable, I can’t imagine that this won’t sell some CDs. Don’t know about Kris, but I bet Danny will have fun with it. I think he is loving trying new things. I was surprised at first, but after some thought, don’t see this as angstworthy. I’m not snooted out by it anymore than I am by the fact that their CDs are sold at Walmart.

I think the QVC thing is good. Danny is proud to be part of the AI family and AI is a powerful machine. And I bet a lot of ex-AI contestants would love this opportunity. I don’t know if he’ll sell his CD at the program but, even if he doesn’t, the people watching it may become interested in his music and go to the stores and buy it. It would reach AI fans (that may tune it to the program because they’re selling exclusive AI items) and people that may never have heard of AI but likes TV shopping. Who knows?

The mj discussion is fast and furious about the QVC thing, lol. The Kris fans seem to be pretty divided. I wouldn’t buy any of the merch, though I’m sure some would.
But I don’t have any attitude about QVC. Hopefully the merchandise for AI will be of reasonable quality and Danny and Kris will be able to tout their CDs and concerts if not actually sell them on air.

Steph I wouldn’t worry about any quality issues with the meerchandise as QVC has one of the strictest quality control programs around. I knew a small company here that had their product accepted for sale on air and what they had to go through to get it to QVC standards was crazy.

I remember when people on TWOP and mjs were making fun of Danny for singing at the wedding event thrown by Ryan Seacrest’s radio station.
Neither Danny nor his fans thought that the wedding gig was beneath Danny and this was before we found out that Danny had gotten a major record deal.
We were just happy he had gotten to perform at an event. Especially since we weren’t getting a lot of information about stuff he was up to then.
Now Danny fans are just happy that Danny is getting more promotion through QVC. While Kris and Adam fans are acting like it’s beneath the Idols.

The wedding was a legimate contest though. This feels really really bad. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to watch idol anymore. This isn’t good, exposure yeah. But everything is going to be able the idol finale-not about him. It’ll be at 10pm, is that a good rating hour for them or selling hour. Are people actually going to watch with the hype of the finale? Did anybody watch it after the finale last year? These are all different factors to consider. Besides me feeling like he’s getting ripped off. At least he could off sat in the audience on the finale, seriously that alone would sell some cd’s. This just doesn’t feel right but I’m sure I’ll watch it. He’s promoting IDOL off the IDOL hype from the finale. He could also good get exposure by being on TMZ, would that be good exposure, it would depend on what it was for. But I’m feeling the same way, not good. I’m still hoping for the best outcome for him on this.

Mr. Bing, I don’t know if it was 27 times exactly, I stopped and started a bunch of times, but I really enjoyed doing it! And now I know the song by heart and can sing along with Danny. He sounds SO MUCH better than I do!
I have kept up with the radio station stuff, so it doesn’t take too long each week to make sure we still match mediabase. I like doing little things like that to try to help Danny. He deserves a lot of support, doesn’t he.

Cherie, what’s the downside? As Pam said, he probably wouldn’t have been at the finale anyway. The QVC show has a track record of helping popular artists sell their music. And as Danip said, people can watch it on the QVC site whenever they want. And, I think he’ll have a blast. I feel really good about it.

I think that Danny is going to be on QVC twice or at least have the show he’s on run twice. He’ll be on QVC on the 13th and on the 25th. I think that the exposure alone will be good for Danny and will help him sell more CD’s even if he’s not going to be selling his CD on the channel. And if he does sell his CD on the channel, that would be even better.

Cherie, I’m pretty surprised you have such a doom and gloom attitude about QVC!
I doubt Danny would be at the finale; I think he has more important things to do, honestly. Even if he’s at the finale, he maybe wouldn’t even be shown in the audience. I don’t recall at last year’s finale seeing any S7 in the audience; correct me if I’m wrong anyone.

Not every tv appearance is a good one, most are. But not all. I would rather he promote himself instead of idol after the performances. I would rather him be a part of it, at least have the option to be there or not. It looks like they don’t want him there by booking his dates for other things. I’m very disappointed in idol for this. Danny got another boost on the Itunes album chart today. I think that he was close to the 500′s or possibly ranked in the 500′s earlier today, but now he’s #300 on the overall albums chart on Itunes. I’m not sure where he got the boost in sales from. I think he might have gotten it after he tweeted for people in Wisconsin to enter that contest with Wisconsin Vision.

Some of them are coming back at mj’s as they apparently didn’t really even know how QVC works before they started hatin’ on the idea. They thought Kris would be hard-selling AI tshirts or something, vs. understanding those shows are often more like talk-shows than anything else.
If Danny has a full hour of exposure from a nationally broadcast cable channel to peeps with credit cards primed to buy something, I say go for it

I have a real real bad feeling about this and the intentions of it. I don’t blame him at all, I don’t see it as desperation or anything like that, it’s idol that has me feeling like this. All 3 of them have different management, which handles things and they all got picked or scheduled. There’s other idols they could have used. I know for his birthday I know that people gifted his cd for others, etc. What about if we did that for his single? It’s only 6,000 away from 100,000 just to help it get there faster. If we all did that on one particular day maybe it’ll give it more of a kick start.
I’m one who thinks Danny on QVC is just fine. I would love if he could sell his own CD but that probably won’t happen since he is promoting Idol stuff but hopefully he can put in a plug for his CD. I see absolutely no reason whatsoever that he shouldn’t do it. We should trust Danny – he knows exactly what he is doing and his management team and label have done well for him so far. As for Danny being on the Idol finale, that was never going to happen – I never even considered it. Why would the 3d place finisher from the previous season be on the finale. They will be pairing established musicians with the current crop of AI finalists as it should be. I’m not even sure if Kris is going to be in the finale.

Hi everybody. I’m going to state that Danny on anything is entertaining to me and a LOT of people will agree and want to see what he is up to. He is a great spokesperson–look at the ACM interviews, he will talk circles around Kris! I say, pride is a fast way to a downfall. Danny will make it fun and sell a ton. And many people stay up WAY past 10 PM EST—isn’t that right Toni? Even a country bumpkin like me.
Cherie, I want to reassure you that Danny and his team have been doing a great job. We may want other ways (national promotion) but look how it almost ruined Gretchen Wilson’s career. Her album sales are still small. She has to climb out of a hall that Danny’s team isn’t letting him fall into it. No snobbery for him. He wants to win the hearts of country fans and he will do it –the old fashion way–with hard work. The other events will come to him. And then we can lean back and enjoy it knowing that we supported him when others didn’t.
I hope I haven’t gone over the top with this post, but in catching up tonight, I read too much angst!

The email is supposed to be 2 points per song and the voting is 1 per song/click. This went from about 120 to around 170 yesterday so I think those might have been emails. I think it’s by votes and emails. I don’t know if they check where it’s from. It only lets you vote once per week though on the website.

Been busy with real life, but have kept up with most of the day’s posts when I am up late at night.
Also, you may all be surprised, but I was thrilled when I read that Danny is going to be on QVC. I shop there and it is a great home shopping place and like others have said, high quality control. I almost mentioned it a couple of times before that Danny could sell a lot of albums if he went on QVC like so many other artists have done before him.
Last summer I watched country singer Reba McEntire sell thousands of her CD that had just debuted. She also sang several songs from her CD. I think she was on a couple of times. I really think it was due to QVC that got her album off to a good start.
Recently the young guy, Justin Beiber sold on QVC. I didn’t watch, but I’m sure he sold thousands of units.
Even Neil Sadaka (older guy) sold his new album a few months ago. You know him, he wrote “Sweet Sixteen” probably from the 70′s. He played the piano and sang on air and sold thousands.
If Danny, who is a super bright business person is on QVC, I’m sure there will be a lot of money to be made for him to help SHF. Perhaps he will get the opportunity to sing. I wouldn’t be surprised because singers who are on there, usually do. I hope so. And if he sings, he will sell thousands of his album.
They have probably put together a special package of different items to sell as one unit. And hopefully, they will sell Danny’s CD as well.
