Morning!
Glad Danny sells over 10k copies for another week.Hopefully he can keep doing well for more few weeks.
Fans here decide to give a little birthday celebration for Danny. As part of it I write a awe.I wanna make it as proper as possible.Would you please check the following sentence out and make it more typical.Thank you!
“There is an old Chinese saying that a man should stand firm At his thirty. All the fans here wish this special birthday will bring you huge success on both your singing and charity careers.”

This seems to be the magazine piece that we saw a twitpic of yesterday. Danny’s in Billboard magazine

Twitter: steph6449
Brian has Danny at 10,000 sold last week.
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/idolchatter/post/2010/03/daughtrys-leave-this-town-reaches-the-million-milestone/1?csp=34
I am glad to see that Danny so around 10,000 albums last week. I hope that he can hold on as best as he can until he gets more national promotion/his song moves up radio more/tour begins.
I think that Kris’s album fell of the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Twitter: mrbingfordannyg
Oh,according to Brian Danny sells near 10k albums. It’s not bad.But he does need some national promotion this week
Hi Everyone! Wishing you all a great day. Very busy at work and really looking forward to Easter break. In Finland we have Friday and next Monday off.I think Danny is still doing OK with the album sales considering the fact that he hasn’t actually had much promotion, but is working very hard on grass roots level and winning new fans wherever he goes. It takes hard work and perseverance to make it in the music business, but Danny has all the qualities needed to make it big.
I would assume that lot of the album sales from last couple of weeks are possibly from new fans, which is a good thing.
When Wisconsin Vision publishes the billboard adverts on Danny promoting their glasses it could seriously cause traffic accidents, when instead of concentrating on driving Danny fans end up staring at Danny’s face..
Looks like there isn’t anybody else here at the moment and unfortunately I don’t have time to come back here later today.
Have done my part of the voting today.
Have a great day!
I liked Tim Urban’s voice from the start, and his wonderfully positive attitude reminds me of Danny’s joy during Season 8. I hope Tim is able to stay, learn and advance. I, too, want to smile and laugh during Season 9, not cry: it’s supposed to be fun, and Tim’s funny!
pjgvet, I agree with you on the need for change. Has each winner of the show been unique?
Twitter: LuluGokey
Hey ladies~~~ I’m back~! Miss you~~~ I just had some crazy busy weeks, was quite tired… Now I’m trying to relax down a little bit and come back here more frequently!
Although, we still have something to work on… Mr Bing! Don’t spoil here! In case, just in case, he’s lurking… We want it to be a surprise!
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Hannele I know you had to go, but I laughed so hard when I read your comment about the billboard ads and traffic accidents! Danny would be very distracting!
Twitter: BLfolsom
Good morning everybody, hope the day goes well for all of you.
10,000 albums sounds really good; can you imagine what he’ll be doing when he goes on tour with Sugarland? I think sales will only get gooder and gooder.
We talk about haters we come across on the blogs, This will make you realize how prevalent it is. No one is spared. The dark side of the internet. We got to protect our kids. Nancy had this on her twitter. Realize how sick people are no matter who you are! http://bit.ly/cFlD31
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Hannele, Since you are not on Twitter, I hope you don’t mind if I borrow that traffic tidbit to use in a tweet! I might even make one of my photoshopped pics!
If you haven’t seen it, please check out the latest post about 2 available tickets to House of Blues Friday.
Hi guys!
Wish I lived in the Orlando area! You all that are getting to see Danny in a solo setting are getting a great show.
I am holding back for the start of the Sugarland tour to see if it is worth while to scalp tickets just to see Danny. Anyone have any idea how many songs he will perform as an opener?
Still kicking myself over missing the whole Sugarland/Owen pre-order thing. Dumb me!
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Dee the “Trolling” story is so sad. I have such mixed feelings about the internet and social networking. The internet is wonderful in so many ways, but when I see stories like this it really makes me think of the awful things people will do when they can be completely anonymous. I fear that children who are growing up with the internet have become much less empathetic or sensitive to others and it can’t help but crossover to their everyday lives. I can’t even imagine what kind of human being would think it is acceptable to harrass people who are grieving and doing it in the ugliest ways.
We of course know just from experiencing the hater sites and reading the things that people say about Danny, that there are some very disrespectful, cruel people on the internet. Like I said, it really saddens me.
Gee.. That Brandon sure has the industry connections.

Hi everyone. This is a post to update the status report I did about radio adds last week, usual caveat that anyone who doesn’t like numbers can skip this one. All these numbers relate to U.S. stations only.
Mediabase has 235 reporting country stations. 126 of these are monitored stations, and they are the ones that are considered when looking at spins and audience impressions for chart positions.
Out of the 126 monitored stations, Danny’s single has been added to 101 of them, that’s 80%. When you rank the stations by market area and divide them into quartiles, it is somewhat skewed toward the bottom, and that’s really because of Texas. For Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4, the percentage of added stations is 71%/77%/77%/94%, with the number of stations to be added at 9/7/7/2. This is important because of course the bigger stations have more of an impact on audience impressions when they play the song.
There are 39 states plus DC that have at least 1 monitored station. 26 of these states are at 100%, up from 23 last week (CA, CO and VA moved into this category). The number in () is how many stations that represents: AK (1), CA (11), CO (3), CN (1), DC (1), DE (1), GA (3), IA (2), ID (1), IL (1), IN (3), KY (2), LA (3), MA (2), MD (1), MI (3), MN (1), NC (6), NJ (1), NM (1), NV (1), RI (1), UT (2), VA (4), WA (4), WI (3).
For 11 states, he has the majority but still not 100%. The number in () shows how many he has out of the total possible for that state: AL (2 of 3), AZ (2 of 3), FL (7 of 10), KS (1 of 2), MO (3 of 4), NY (3 of 4), OH (3 of 4), OR (1 of 2), PA (5 of 7), SC (4 of 5), TN (4 of 6). (If you want to see what stations that represents, you can find that in the “Request Danny Gokey” file).
He still has 0 of 2 in OK ( those are both mid-range in terms of monitored size), and still only 1 of the 8 monitored stations in Texas.
So, again for the monitored 126, he has 101 and still needs 25. 7 of those are in Texas. Of the 25, he has visited more than half of them, including most of the ones in Texas. The biggest ones left to get are the ones in Texas plus Miami, the other one in Phoenix, and Pittsburgh.
No change on the non-monitored mediabase reporters, Danny has 27 of 109, or 25%. So still lots of opportunity there for growth. Doesn’t affect the charts, but of course getting the music heard is going to help sales, so requesting the song from these stations is important too.
Last week I said that my conclusion from this is that Danny has done very well on adds but could really use some more fan support in Texas. I said I was going to create a post on DGO for Texas fans, and I did that. It has lots of info on his visits there and how to request the song. I will send a tweet out about it again today.
Note: The quartile percentages are not an exact “apples to apples” comparison to last week b/c Mediabase changed the market rankings, a couple of times actually, bless their hearts. It doesn’t change the story, but I mention it for the people who are interested in the data. Mediabase changes stuff all the time, it’s great fun.
I’m leaving work in a minute and just wanted to say hello to everybody.
Cheryl, I definitely want to see the end result if you end up using this billboard thing for a picture! Now I really want you to do it, because I can already see how much fun it’s going to be.
Lulu, welcome back!
Take care Ihearties!
Did anyone ever answer Mr. Bing’s question?
Thank you, Dee, for sharing that video from Today, and please thank Nancy as well.
“The more vulnerable you are, the more of a target you are . . .” Well, now we know, in part, why Danny was targeted in Season 8. Who was more vulnerable than the man who had just lost his wife 4 weeks earlier?
I wish the expert who was interviewed had provided examples of how to counter (as opposed to avoid) the hate, as Lexi’s friends are trying to do. This is an absolutely chilling phenomenon, because people who lack empathy can go on to become sociopaths. Our prisons are already filled with them.
Glad to see there is a federal law that makes it a felony to harass someone using the Internet. But until the law becomes more widely known and enforced, it won’t make a dent. On the civil side, there is a tort called the intentional infliction of emotional distress. In both cases, it takes time, money, and effort to track down the perpetrators. Plus, there is the First Amendment to contend with; where do you draw the line? (I’d draw it where the intent to injure is readily apparent from the nature and volume of the comments.)
You know I’m working with a high school student through the Imprint Program, reading and discussing “Lord of the Flies.” I want to wait until we’re through reading the book, but then I want to bring up the subject of Internet hate with my high school student. Because the “island” from the “Lord of the Flies” seems very much like the Internet today. And it’s important that she understand why “Lord of the Flies” is required reading — that it still has relevance today, even though it was written over 50 years ago.
It’s become VERY quiet here. Have most people moved on to Season 9, and are they commenting elswhere? Perhaps it’s a GOOD sign, because there’s no longer much to worry about now with regard to Danny!
As Marilyn pointed out when we were discussing “Dream On” last week, Danny’s ability to laugh at himself along with others is remarkable. That’s what impressed me about Tim Urban yesterday. I’m off to learn more about this very pleasant young man!
Okay, I will take a crack at it. Mr. Bing, I am not entirely sure what you are trying to say.
I’m not sure what you mean by “stand firm,” but I think it is likely that the rest of the sentence should read:
“There is an old Chinese saying that a man should stand firm at thirty.”
OR
“There is an old Chinese saying that a man should stand firm on his thirtieth birthday.”
For the second sentence:
“All the fans here wish this special birthday will find you hugely success in both your singing and charity careers.”
I’m not sure how a birthday “brings” someone success, although I’m also not sure it’s wrong to say that, either. But I do think “on” needs to be changed to “in.”
Anyone else want to make an attempt to help out Mr. Bing?
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Mr. Bing, when you say that a man should stand firm on his 30th birthday, does it mean that at that point in his life, he should know who he is and what he wants to do with his life?
It is quiet this week, R-squared. I hope it’d because a lot of people are preoccupied with the upcoming Easter holiday. Also, it may be spring break for some.
I’m sorry, R-squared. I’m hoping Tim will get voted off soon. I just don’t think he’s very talented vocally. (Yesterday was his best vocal to date, though.) BUT, I like him as a person for the same reasons you mentioned. I loved the way he said he that he wasn’t going to say he didn’t have fun performing just because the judges didn’t like it. I think he may have developed his “teflon” tendencies being one of ten children. BTW, I thought it was cute that Ryan referred to Brian Mansfield’s article, even if not by name.
You really put your finger on why Season 9 is so uninspiring. Crystal and Lee may be more vocally talented, but they don’t exude joy.
Cheryl & Ellen, Agree – After seeing this, never realized that it’s almost become a sport targeted at the most vulnerable. It sheds some light on Danny’s situation. Wow, to the degree people put that stuff out there, incredible and so very sad. And to think, that one girl who is a AI blogger, Kristen? a grown woman promoted stuff like this. Didn’t she make fun that he was a widower? For sure, I’m going to pay more attention to my kids internet viewing.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
R-squared, I am watching S9, but I don’t care enough about it to vote, I have no favorite. I’ve mentioned before that I had really liked Paige before she derailed, it really was too bad what happened. Last night I thought Casey, Crystal, Lee, Michael and Andrew had really good performances (those listed in no particular order). I think the bottom 3 will be Tim, Katie and Didi. I hope Tim is the one who goes home, but he does seem to be Teflon.
Twitter: BLfolsom
Josie, thx so much for researching that information. I only know of 2 country stations in the Phoenix area – KNIX and KMILE; do you know the other station that I can call and request Danny? I think both of those stations play him.
R-squared, you’re right, it is a little quiet here this week. I have a feeling it’s because of Good Friday and Easter activities.
Twitter: BLfolsom
Cheryl, I know those billboard ads would be distracting me
My husband a few days ago sighed and sat down by me when I was here on this site and said, “I’ve lost my wife to Danny Gokey.”
We had a good laugh.
I think I am happy that I cannot hear that report about troll, from what you are saying here (my sound is out on my computer). It is truly sad, where some people will go.
Just wanted to add, that Andrew Garcia is the only contestant that has identified Danny to be his favorite in all time.
Sorry guys. I really do need to proofread…
I am happy that I cannot hear that report about the trolls.
Andrew Garcia is the only contestant that has identified Danny to be his favorite AI contestant of all time.
R-squared, might have to do with spring break. I’m just starting to pay attention to this season. Nobody really catching my interest, yet. I think Ellen hit it, kinda uninspirating, no excitement…could change. Big Mike is from my city, kinda pulling for him. I noticed when Danny appeared on AI, I noticed Mike was really into him while he was singing. That’s a few points for me!
I am wondering what is going on too, R-2.
I don’t think people are headed to DGO. If you ask me, that site is just off.
Didn’t know Tim was from a large family. That would explain him not getting to bothered about things, especially if he’s in the middle or near the end of line.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Billie, the Phoenix station that has added Danny is KNIX. The one that has not is KMLE. You can request it either way. You can find the contact info for each station if you click on the “Request Danny Gokey” picture toward the top of the site, or click on it in the “sticky” post on the front page.
Maryann, about DGO, I am irritated that they still have not fixed that nested reply problem. I bet there are a lot of people who got frustrated that their comment didn’t show up and didn’t bother trying to post again. I have reported that problem several times over the last 7 weeks or so, and nothing. I try to go over there regularly and post new things. If I care about it, why don’t the people who run it? It is too bad.
Twitter: BLfolsom
Thx Josie, I’ll get on it
Yes, Ellen, and since I think Tim is the only really entertaining one, whether you’re a fan or not, I’m not sure whether I’ll continue watching if he’s not on! Danny said he does push ups before a performance to get the blood in his chest flowing, so this has GOT to be helping Tim’s singing, too:
http://www.amtcworld.com/photos/tim-urban/view/0
I like the retro ’70s hair, and I say it’s about time girls get a YOUNG male idol!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Did anyone already mention that the HDD chart shows the exact same number of sales (10,427) for Danny as for Josh Turner, who is in the line right above him? That would seem to be an unusual coincidence. Sometimes that indicates an error, but I would think that it would be proofread. Strange though.
Twitter: pjgvet
R2;
I think Tim did well last night; but hasn’t up to this point. But I do like his attitude! And think Shiobhan needs to take a few pointers. I know its very difficult getting criticized, but if she keeps coming off as pouty if she is not praised as she has been previously she will lose votes.
Definitely not into AI9; but found it entertaining last night for the first time! Partly because of Tim’s fun attitude, and partly because one of my early faves, Andrew shone again. I really like his voice (and his love of Danny helps!). Casey (my fave) did great, so did Lee and Crystal. Love Mike’s personality, but his singing is a little boring for me.
Dee,
So sad that it is not surprising in the least to hear about the internet hate.
Mr. Bing,
Not sure on the meaning of the first sentence. Is it that a man should be fully formed by his 30th?
The second I would change to:
All the fans here send wishes that this special birthday marks the beginning of many years of success with your singing and charitable endeavors.
Or something similar!
Josie, my favorite girls are gone now, too, so I hope my favorite boy is at least able to stay!
Billie and Maryann, perhaps we’re all just listless because we’re missing Danny in Season 9!
Dee, Danny’s character was a big plus for me, and so is Tim’s, which I found out more about on the show’s official site.
pjgvet, I always thought Tim sang the best, clearly, on pitch and in tune.
Twitter: pjgvet
Where did Danny come in on the Billboard chart? I couldn’t find it at MJs or Brian’s.
I see Kris fans are frustrated and are now attacking Danny (the usual suspects) because his sales are “dropping”. Yeesh.
I think 10k is quite good for the type of PR that he has had.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Pam, I just commented on that thread too. On Billboard, Danny stayed at 29 this week (although he did increase in spins).
Twitter: pjgvet
Thanks, Josie; I meant the album sales-he was predicted to be 33 wasn’t he? Just wondering if he stayed in the top 50.
Twitter: jannworth
Maryann, where did you read or see that Andrew Garcia lists Danny as his favorite Idol? I’ve done a little digging (nothing like I would for Danny) but I haven’t seen that interview.
There’s no Danny performances for a couple of days, that keeps us quiet here.
BTW, contrary to what the Ho Chunk Casino says their tickets for Danny’s performance have not been available on ticketmaster. I’ve called endlessly. Its annoying. If anyone sees them available, could you give me a shout out? I don’t want my “happy dance” to turn into a sad little trudge…
Jan
Twitter: jannworth
BTW, if I liked Tim’s voice more (his personality is nice), that picture would have me voting for him…..but, no, his voice is nice but not captivating for me.
If I remember right. Andrew said that in try outs.
Twitter: pjgvet
I believe at AI forums when they had the intro interview with the top 24, he said that.
Another girl who didn’t make it further said it too!
And Didi had her pic taken holding Danny’s album, remember?
Jan, Michelle has been trying with no success either at Ticketmaster
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Did you all see that Gokeyguy’s recap is posted? Great job GG, I loved reading it!
Haven’t called but have you tried both numbers? 1-866-448-7849 & 1-800-745-3000
jannikas, I like how NORMAL Tim’s voice is!
I also noticed that most of the guitar players are hunching over when they don’t have their instruments, hence charges of “creeping!” They must feel exposed.
Twitter: jannworth
Gokeyguy, I posted some comments on your recap. You did a great job!! What great photos too! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Jan
Twitter: jannworth
Well, R-squared, I think Tim sings well, and has a lot of other great attributes. I’m just glad that NONE of the singers captivated me this year. I could only afford one addiction of this magnitude.
Billie, it was so cute that your husband sadly reported that he lost you to Danny Gokey. Most of the time my husband is a great sport, but I know I push the limit. His co-workers ask him how Mrs. Gokey is doing…..ouch!
Twitter: BLfolsom
R-squared, that’s a good way of putting it. I’m enjoying AI9 but…I’m not on the edge of my seat every week holding my breath and biting my nails like I was last season; Danny had that effect on me.
Pjgvet, I hear what you’re saying about Shiobhan. Being criticized by four very talented judges in front of millions of people is something that nobody would want.
Hopefully, she can pick herself up, dust off, and learn from this like Danny did when he was criticized; I felt kinda sorry for her, Didi, and Tim.
Dee, that video is both telling, sad, and maddening. Don’t know how anybody could do that to a greaving family, we live in a crazy world.
I found it interesting that they would target people they thought were vulnerable.
These are the kinds of haters that thought Danny would crumble under the pressure; little did they know that he had a power to tap into that can crush all negitive/evil intentions and perservere into heights that even we don’t know yet.
Is anybody having trouble trying to get to the page on SHF.com to make a donation and request a M&G pass to see Danny? I keep getting an error message when I go to the site and click on how to get the information.
I keep seeing something about an “infranet” security thing.
Twitter: pjgvet
Billie; at least your husband is humorous about it! I think mine is truly jealous.
I agree, last year I was so nervous about how Danny would do; just so invested I couldn’t enjoy it! This year is actually more enjoyable for me, because I could care less who wins! I think the talent/personalities pale in comparison also.
Mrs. Gokey- I like it; I think that is your new name as far as I am concerned!
Oh, GG recap! Must go read.
jannikas and pjgvet, as I wrote back in September when I was watching Rafa Nadal playing tennis, that’s why I think it’s a good idea to have more than one “idol.” You’re then a supporter of many instead of a fan of one. When you spread the love, there’s no danger of jealousy!
Continuing with the topic of guitars, Danny and Adam, on the other hand, both always looked comfortable on stage because they just didn’t play!
I’m not sure if this has been posted or discussed but I was reading at Roughstock that Danny has just been listed in the last round of performers at CMA Musical Festival. I think this is a big deal. It is dated today.
“CMA’s next round of performers to the CMA Music Festival’s Nightly LP Field Concerts were announced today with Josh Turner and Trace Adkins leading the way. Blake Shelton, Easton Corbin, Danny Gokey, Randy Houser and Justin Moore all join the previously announced performers which include the Zac Brown Band, Jason Aldean, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler, Billy Currington, Martina McBride, Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban.
A long-time supporter of the event, Adkins will be making his 10th consecutive appearance as a part of the Nightly Concerts appearing every year since the event moved to Downtown Nashville in 2001. Adkins has received five CMA Award nominations including two in 2009 for Single and Music Video of the Year, both for “You’re Gonna Miss This.”
Both Corbin and “American Idol” season eight finalist Gokey have made strong impressions on Country Music fans this year, and they will soon become a part of the CMA Music Festival legacy when they make their debuts at the 2010 event.
http://www.roughstock.com/blog/trace-adkins-leads-latest-round-of-cma-music-fest-performers
My bad. It’s already posted on the home page. I was excited when I read it. There have been several articles written that put Danny and Easton together as new artists who are doing well. I am so happy that country music seems to be accepted Danny.
I wish the contestants would lose their instruments at least once. It’s supposed to be a singing competition, not a music competition. Then again, look what happened when Andrew put his down . . .
But sometimes I think they use their instruments as a crutch, and it prevents them from fully connecting with the audience.
AHEM! If I make a donation to SHF in the amount of $25 what proof do I have that I have a pass to a M&G??? Does anyone know???
Do you use your email confirmation as proof that you made a donation? Is that your “pass”???
Didn’t see this posted yet either but I may have missed it on the home page also. According to Roughstock, Danny’s album was #10 in country and #49 on Billboard’s top 200 albums.

Tweet just popped up from usatodayidol that Danny will be back at the Opry on 4/27.
Josie,
Just read your post on the radio stations that have added Danny’s song. Very interesting read. Thanks.
Twitter: steph6449
Hi everyone, Shirl I ordered a M&G ticket for HOB in Myrtle Beach (not sure I will actually use it, but wanted to do the donation anyway). I got an email confirmation back and instructions to pick up the pass at Will Call with photo id.
Glad to see CMA Fest confirmed. What I’ve heard is Danny will be on the first day, which seems right as he’s got events the rest of the days with Sugarland & Jake Owen.
Opry again already
That’s great. I won’t be able to go that time, hope someone else can report back along with the Wild Horse event which I would really have loved to go to except for a family conflict.
.
Not sure if anyone heard this? didn’t look to see if they possibly put it online.

I see Lee Brice snuck ahead of Danny again, and Toby is nipping at Danny’s heels, with Brad Paisley not far behind. I think Danny is apt to get nudged down the chart a couple of spots within a day or two. Only see possibly Blake Shelton who may go recurrent. Hopefully the big names barreling through won’t push Danny out of the top 30, and perhaps he can jump ahead of Lee again with some luck.
Twitter: steph6449
Lizzy, not sure if you saw my post last night but WMZQ did play Danny’s single on that 9 pm show. He was third on the “Hot 9 at 9″ list.
This is the link if you’d want to vote. It’s one of those pages you can vote as many times as you want. I think it only takes a dozen or two votes to get someone on the list, possibly not that many.
http://www.wmzq.com/pages/HOT9at9.html
Didn’t look to see if the Balto. station has a similar list. That maybe worth a look, or for others here to see if your station has a similar format that would gain Danny spins without much effort.
steph, will it work if I just go directly to the DONATE page and make a donation, and bypass the link from the home page???
I know I will get an email confirmation but didn’t know if it has to be done on the link to the page, or just a general donation. What do you think? When I make a donation, do I just type in the window that I want it for Columbia MD?
Twitter: steph6449
Shirl, there is a page at SHF (one of the links on the far right near the Donate link) for the M&G’s with a separate form, because you have to choose which date/venue for those passes.
I don’t know if they have Sugarland dates set up, but have heard that those may be part of the plan vs. just Danny’s own separate date.
.
The Boot has a blog post on Danny again, mostly a rehash of the CMT Insider piece yesterday but nice to read. And always like to see those CMA pics
http://www.theboot.com/2010/03/31/danny-gokey-randy-travis/
.
Appears Danny will have a performance in San Jacinto California. Not sure how close that is to the posters here who were looking for more California dates, including southern CA. Danny sure seems to be making a tour of casinos lately. And yet again, there is a charity tie.

Hi Everyone
I have noticed it is quiet this week for posters, but I think a lot of people are getting ready for Easter. As far as people becoming vulnerable to the internet. I know that happens everyday. Working in law enforcement, I unfortunately see the direct effects the internet can have and the lengths people will go to do harm. I think facebook, myspace etc… definitely have a direct effect on crime. I just think the public as a whole has to be cautious about what they put on the internet. I think Danny selling 10,000 cd’s is fine. A blog I read today said Lady A started out the same way before they had a big hit. Then, they took off. Once Danny starts getting more national promotion, he will be fine

Some quotes:
Next up was Danny Gokey and wow, he is an incredible talent! He treated the crowd to several of his own songs and then sang what I think (JMO) was the best cover I’ve ever heard of Rascal Flatts’ hit, “What Hurts The Most”. He owned that song when he sang it! … I had not seen any of these artists live before Wednesday and I am a definite fan of all of them now, if I wasn’t already before! Each one has a different style of country music but all fit the bill and it made for an incredible show!
After the show was over, all the artists signed autographs and took a few pictures from the stage. Then Danny Gokey came up to is merch table and continued to take pics and sign with a huge crowd of fans.

For Shirl, this is the SHF page for the M&G. They actually do have Merriweather loaded, and various other Sugarland dates.
https://www.sophiasheart.org/meet_greet.php
The SHF twitter keeps reminded people, the name of the person who would be attending the M&G (not necessarily the one paying) has to be in the Comment field.
Steph, look for an email when you have time
I can’t even listen to RF’s version of WHTM anymore. Danny’s is so much better! I think it’s actually become one of his signature songs, and has become associated with him by people who know he sang it.
I definitely think Danny was singled out to be attacked because he was the most vulnerable contestant. Kids who seem vulnerable get picked on the most by bullies; Danny first appearing on Idol in all his naked vulnerability and grief turned him into a magnet for Internet bullies. Makes me wonder what’s wrong with people who feel the need to kick someone when they’re already down. But Danny got himself up, dusted himself off, and is proving how strong he really is.
R-squared, I like Tim too. Not as a singer (IMO he is just not that talented) but as a person. I think he’s funny, cute and sweet and a good role model for teenagers. He does have a huge family–he’s one of TEN siblings!
Steph, thanks for the link! It worked!
Every time I tried to link to it from SH.org I kept getting an error message about “intranet” security.
Got it all done so I’m pretty excited….in fact I am still numb. Never did I think I would ever get my chance to ever meet Danny! I am NUMB!
Look for another email

There was a hater’s comment after the nice article about Danny:

I posted a short rebuttal and voted it down; others are welcome to join in!

HELLO EVERYONE!-This is a little off topic, but just wanted to share. Today has been the hardest day of my life. Today we buried my 19 year old cousin who was a United States Marine. It was the most beautiful service I have ever seen and the hardest one to get through. At my request “I Will Not Say Goodbye” was played at the service. As the song was playing the tears came so much stronger but I also felt a strong sense of peace. His wife had never heard the song before today but commented after what a beautiful and comforting song. It’s amazing in our time of grief what a song can do. Thank you Danny for that. Semfer Fi
I am glad to see that Danny will be apart of the CMA Music fest, that is cool.
And I am also glad to see that he will be performing at the Opry. I think that if he keeps getting invitations to perform at the Opry, that some day they will invite him to join it.

Amy, I am so glad that IWNSGB provided some comfort to your family in this sorrowful time.
Shirl, congrats on the meet and great tickets!
FOGS and others, I hope you agree that Danny’s entry to country music is going very well. While many of us would love to see MBDAAM soar to the top of the chart, I think the positive response from so many country sources (radio, GOO, blogs, magazine articles, CD reviews) shows that Danny is doing very well. I trust that his career is exceeding initial expectations and we will be blessed with his music around for many years to come.

Amy, thank you for sharing that — I’m very sorry for your loss.

Jan, I can never register on that site; I really tried the past 10 minutes to do it! Arrrgh. The haters are so obvious.
Steph, the Sugarland M&G passes are available on SHF; just through later May though I think. Got mine! Hope your tweeter friend takes a hint and gets hers
Helio, agree about WHTM and about Tim Urban!
Our chart people: Thanks for posting! Glad Danny squeeked by into the top 50. Matt Bjorke always has him selling less than Brian Mansfield does though, for some odd reason.
I so hope he doesn’t lose chart position this week! Its been such a hard, slow climb
Amy Oakes; My sympathies. So sorry about your cousin. What a
perfect song choice you picked! Danny would be so honored to have his song sung at such an honorable occasion; the funeral of a US Marine who served our country.
Amy, I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. I know Danny will be extremely honored that you chose his song for the memorial. I hope it gave you and your family some comfort. I listen to that song frequently because it has such meaning. I am so proud of Danny ignoring all the haters out there
. He is such a class act and so far above those people. I know he will become very successful. I think crystal said she has a surprise in store for everyone next week, so maybe she is just singing and not using an instrument. It will be interesting to see who becomes the eventual winner this year. I don’t think American Idol will be around much longer- especially without Simon.

Pam, you are right, it is a pain to get registered on that site! I finally got it to go through.
Amy Oakes, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you will feel welcome to join us here whenever you would like to talk.

Oh,and Lizzy, thanks, I’m glad you liked the status report!
Steph,
I’m listening to WMZQ and Danny’s song is #4 on 9 at 9. I voted earlier and thanks for the heads up.
Pam,
I think the reason Matt has Danny selling less is because Brian rounds up the SoundScan numbers. I suspect that Matt’s numbers are correct. As to the total numbers, Brian is adding in the street sales of 1,000 the week before Danny’s album was official released.
Twitter: .
Glad to see that Danny is maintaing a good position on Billboard,as he is fighting for every sale.
I will just be a lurker for the next few days as if some of you remember that I asked about the rotator cuff surgery a few months ago.. well tomorrow is the day.
So I asked that if there is a word you can say to whomever you say it to that you say one for me tomorrow morning. I am not really worried but one never knows.
I hope Danny does lots as i am planning to use this site and posting in general as part of my rehab..

Gokey Guy!
GREAT recap! So entertaining. I commented on the front page so won’t double duty, but thank you for helping us see Danny through your eyes. So glad that things worked out; and I do think you will meet Danny some day
Thanks for the explanation Lizzy. But Matt should at least add in those extra 1000 ! (I feel guilty because I contributed to those, lol!. Although I’ve gifted plenty after, as penance
)

At least one country newbie will be performing at the ACM awards, it seems. Not sure she’s had the results to warrant it, but she’s coming off Broadway and they probably figure she will be an entertaining live performer with her single.

Almost forgot to complete my Gokey voting….all done now!
Twitter: steph6449
Lizzy, glad you got to hear MBD. WHen I went to that page the other day, Danny already had a noticeable share of votes. He must have at least three fans who listen to WMZQ

Just wanna come and say thank you to Josie and Ellen for answering my kind of stupid question. It’s so not typical.I am gonna find something more typical.

Also thank you pam.

I’m still in Texas for approx 10 more days. I’ve requested his song around 50 times on different stations and I have only heard it once besides the countdown shows. Josie-I heard it on KAJA in San Antonio 97.3, this one wasn’t on your list if you wanted to add it. I’ll be near Houston for most of my time left down here. The media base doesn’t have it on the form in Houston and I know that the biggest one. I think they’re #4. I really miss hearing it all the time in Milwaukee.
rowansmom2010, I think Tim is the ray of SUNSHINE in Season 9 that Danny was in Season 8! I agree with pjgvet that the show finally became interesting last night. Now I’ll be watching just to see how far Tim can make it.
All, I’ll be back to commenting when I get my e-mail sorted out. Meanwhile, blessings to you all!
Dani, My thoughts will be with you tomorrow for your surgery, and a quick recovery to follow.
Gokeyguy, really loved your nice long recap seeing Danny live. Nice job! Also very much enjoyed your excellent pics.
It’s late and I still gotta vote so g’night to everyone!
Twitter: pjgvet
R2, hope you get the email squared away! I agree; much as I’m not a fan of his singing; Tim is a ray of sunshine. The judges just wanted to bring him down tonight, but I thought his answer was perfect. Casey is another one who just seems like a happy guy.
Danip; good luck! Everything will be fine. Make sure they give you good premeds (tell them you are nervous). When I had my gall bladder out they gave me NOTHING ahead of time; just knocked me out with Propoflo in the surgery room when I was all cold and strapped down!! Maybe because I was just very matter of fact and calm; but still not good balanced analgesia/anesthesia. So if you have an option…
And clicking on pictrues of Danny is good PT!
STeph, really? Giddy on up??? Well, I hope we see some purdy red carpet pics.
Cherie, great effort! What is it gonna take for Texas to add him?!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Danip, best of luck with your surgery, I hope you have a quick recovery.
Mr. Bing, your question was not at all stupid. I found it interesting. I like hearing sayings from other cultures. That’s one of the things I’ve enjoyed talking about with my best friend, who is German. Some of the ones he tells me are the same as we have in English, but there are different ones too.
Cherie, thanks for that excellent suggestion, I will do it. KAJA has added Danny’s song, but you’re right that they need to be encouraged to play it more! Plus, the videos from his station visit there are I think among his best on his radio tour. I will add that info to the DGO post. Here are the mediabase request form links for KAJA and the 2 Houston stations, let me know if these are not the ones you were looking for. Looking them all up was one of my recent “Danny projects” and I’ve sent them to Erika, I think she will post them in an upcoming update.

I’ll put the 2 Houston ones in a new post so it doesn’t go into moderation.

Cherie, you’re right that it takes awhile with some stations. I think they really notice perseverance though!

I thought it was funny today, I joked to Danny about that cute photo with the bulldog and said “Those Wisconsin Vision people aren’t fooling around, are they?”.
The CEO wrote back to me, he must be so excited about all this! I really do think it will be a big success. If the rest of their ads are as cute as that photo, no doubt.
Twitter: pjgvet
That WIVision is funny Josie! I think they really are excited about their collaboration.
I have been waiting 6 months for new glasses; just waiting for Danny to get his deal! WI Vision, here I come…..
Great job on all your radio station requesting “stuff”. I’m always amazed at how much some fans who have never seen him live, or met him in person (or have small hopes of that, like our international fans like Erika, Lulu, Hannele, Mr Bing, everyone else), give, give, give to him; I guess that is why it upsets me sometimes when I see fans who just always want something from him and even ask him for special favors to satisfy themselves.
I know everyone contributes in different ways; but some of you here at iheart obviously go the extra mile
Good night

Danip, I pray that everything goes well with your surgery tomorrow.
Amy, I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope IWNSG will be a healing melody through out these next months.

Hello ladies! sorry I came here so late! thank you so much and I really really appreciate your comments to my recap! Im really glad yall loved it! Ill try to come here much earlier so I can thank each one of you!!! Thanks to Jen, Becky, Tonya and Steph! Its so memorable it still lingers in my mind! now that is what I called an experience to be treasured forever!!! <3
Amy O.,
Age 19 is WAY too young to die. I am so sorry for your loss, Amy. But when the grief is less stark, you can only be grateful that you had as much time with your cousin as you did. Time is all any of us have on earth. And it doesn’t take long to make an impact. I hope that memories of your cousin will comfort you.
I am not surprised that IWNSG was used for a funeral. I think your cousin’s funeral will be the first of many. It already had occurred to be how suited IWNSG is for that purpose. Just like MBD is a great birthday song. (I’ve given MBD to several friends for their birthday, and they all have loved it — even the friend who generally only likes classical music.)
Danip, I will pray for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. Best of luck tomorrow! Make sure you have someone around to watch out for you post-surgery.
Hey, GG! Great recap! But I don’t understand Facebook, so I haven’t seen your pictures and don’t know what you look like. You always have the cutest gravatars, so I tend to associate you with your gravatar, even though I know you are not Danny. Weird!
Twitter: jancute
Ellen – LOL! honestly, Im too shy to show yall my pictures LOL! Im not that good looking you know, of course Danny is always good looking guy as always LOL! I hope me too YAY! Thanks for reading my recap! Your recap is great too and I love it!
I was out all day, but I hope everyone had a good day
Can’t wait to talk to you guys more from now on out until next week. Spring Break!
& sorry, I know I’ve been saying this so much, but we could use all the help we can get. http://bit.ly/9haVtO Please help vote. All you have to do is watch the video to vote.
Will do, Stephfoo!
