Former American Idol semi-finalist Danny Gokey says arms are opening wide for him in Nashville. He talked with Candyce Clifft about his new country cd out this week called “My Best Days.” Randy Travis contributed to Danny’s discovery of his musical identity. Appearing on American Idol as a guest, he asked Danny if he’d ever considered a career in country music.
Gokey auditioned for American Idol in 2008. Danny credits his late wife, Sophia, with the inspiration to pursue his musical dreams on Idol, and he continues to honor her with the charitable work of the Sophia’s Heart Foundation, founded in her memory. Look for Danny on tour this spring with Sugarland, with specific dates to be announced. He’ll be back on “American Idol” Thursday night to sing a song from the new cd and to promote it.
