Gokey’s triumphant homecoming: Fresh from his chatty return to the “American Idol” stage last week to sing a song from his new album, “My Best Days,” Danny Gokey, who finished third in Season 8, played his first concert showcasing the debut album Saturday night. And he did it for his hometown crowd in Milwaukee. To say it was an appreciative audience would be an understatement. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, fans started lining up at 7:30 a.m. for the nighttime show. By the time the venue, the Turner Hall Ballroom, opened its doors at 5:30 p.m., the line of concert-goers, old and young, had wrapped around the block. Long wait aside, it sounds like the sellout crowd, which got Gokey’s new CD free with their $12 admission fee, got their money’s worth.
