Hi everyone! So glad to see that Danny’s album is still going strong and holding to #1 spot in iTunes country album chart in US and Canada and #2 spot on overall album chart. Of the individual songs Danny’s single is #3 on the country singles chart. Don’t know where it stands on the overall singles chart, because the chart that I’m looking at for the top 100 singles isn’t updated all the time.. This is all really good for the sales figures for the first week. Danny’s record company has such a jewel in their hands, for Danny really is a marketing dream come true with his good looks, awesome talent, charisma and infectious personality.
Did you see the line of people queuing for Danny’s autograph yesterday evening? Danny has star quality written all over him and I’m pretty sure that his career will take off big time sooner that any of his fans could even dream of.. I’m being selfish here, but I have already given up hope to ever meet Danny in person, even if I would be able to make it over to US this summer..
I also watched Danny’s performance on AI few more times and I don’t think he chatted at all that much, but was just so giddy and excited about being back at the show. I really want to see him back at AI performing on a bigger stage later on this spring.
Before I’ll finish this very long comment I would like to wish Pam & Co a wonderful time at the concert this evening and make sure you’ll get there in time and get in! We need your recap of the concert. I do think they have totally underestimated the size of the venue for this evening and should have booked a bigger place.
All is good in Dannyland and now I’m off to run some errands and when I’m back I’ll cook my boyfriend his favourite food and listen to Danny’s CD while I’m cooking.
Talk to you during the weekend. Have fun!
Morning! So glad Danny is doing so good with his album and singles.
A Chinese girl who is in US now came to see Danny at Mall of America yesterday. She promised will share pictures she took with us.Also she posted the pictures of Danny’s album which she booked on DGO.
Danny’s album is also climbing up the iTunes UK top 10 country album chart! It’s #4 at the moment.
What a beautiful day it is! Hello… across the miles and miles, and oceans… Hannele & Mr. Bing!
Hope the celebration never ends for Danny!
Dragging a link to a really sweet interview here. Found it at DGO. Don’t recall seeing it here before. It is from Blair Garner’s ‘After Midnight Show’. Shows the calmer side of Danny.
http://www.aftermidnite.com
Good morning Maryann! Wish you a lovely weekend. Checked some more of the charts just a minute ago and Danny’s album is now holding #2 spot on Amazon bestselling items just behind Sade’s album. Also Barnes and Noble listing shows Danny is on his way up there as well. I’m really keeping my fingers crossed that Danny is able to hold on to these high rankings long enough to have those impressive sales figures.
I need to do some cooking now..
Have a wonderful day too, Hannele!
Hope things are letting up for you, with regard to your bad weather. Most amazing day here in PA today. Nearly all our snow has melted, it is bright and sunny and I can hear birds singing!
Spring is on the way! I can feel it! So excited.
Really nice job on those GAC questions guys. I see you all were representing!
Danny is too cute for words. Especially. when he speaks about the kind of women he needs in his life. I am happy for him, because you can tell he is opening his heart to new possibilities now. God is good. She is on her way. Any day now.

Hello peeps!
Going to bed but before I go…
Yes, Maryann, the ‘After Midnite’ interview was posted by Amy two days ago.
I’m not going to post this video on the front page because the guy filming it was really annoying but I’m sure you guys would like a glimpse of Danny on the Mall Of America. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gUwKnbRSww
Have a g’day, y’all!
Hope nobody feels that I am being disrespectful to Danny’s late wife. I believe she wouldn’t want him to be alone. I would want my husband to remarry if something happened to me.
Oh my. So sorry Erika!
Must have gotten by me with all the Danny excitement. Delete the post, if you like. You all need the web space for more goodies
!
Sweet dreams & thanks for all you do.
Erika,
Thanks so much for that video. Those two guys are a hoot! That Danny is so sweet. Loved him waving to the little group of bouncing kids off to his right. He is so sweet. Nice crowd.

Morning all,
The Crook & Chase show airing this morning on WMZQ played some of their interview with Danny a few minutes ago, and they also played MBD in full. What I heard finished was in two segments (not sure if that was all, or there was more before or still coming up). The second of those segments was just a little bit before they played Kellie Pickler’s song at #15.
So that’s an extra spin for Danny in addition to that he should be back in the top 40 countdowns this weekend, I think?
I also heard a little radio ad to buy Danny’s album at target, with a voiceover of Danny talking about what he wanted the album to be like
Heading back to RL now. Before I go, I want to wish all of you lovely people attending the CD release concert tonight a marvelous day. Have fun!
Twitter: Owlki
That’s alright, Maryann.
Really going to bed now. Don’t forget to read Marilyn’s recap! Peace out!
Good morning everyone. What a fund day to get to see how Danny is doing on the charts. Also Maryann I thought your post about Danny finding someone was very endearing and was thinking how much I loved the person you are. Please don’t worry about offending.
Hannele – have a wonderful day cooking for your special one. Turn the music up loud and enjoy your day.
Steph – wow, you’re already on the job posting numbers. So much fun.
All you ones going to see Danny today. I hope you all get in and have a fun wonderful day visiting with each other and seeing Danny. Get all the Danny hugs you can get.
Lots of things to do. Be back later this evening to see how things are going with Danny.
Erika, I did the recap and posted it on 3/5. It’s really long, lol. I know you said be as wordy as I wanted, but well it’s long.

Wow Erika saw that you already posted the recap in front. That was fast work. How did you know? Thanks Have a great rest.
Mr. Bing, sound like you have something fun to look forward too.
Number 10 in Portugal! Danny sure had a lot of international fans!
Need to really go now. bbl
Hi everyone.
I am glad to see that Danny’s album is still #1 on Itunes and #2 on Amazon. His single “My Best Days” is also still ranked #21 on the overall songs chart on Itunes.
His song is currently ranked #34 on the 7 Day Rolling Chart and down 17 spins for the week, but I believe that after his song is played on the countdown this week he will regain those spins and get new ones.
Twitter: steph6449
marilyn, really enjoyed reading your recap. I’m glad you (& hubby) had such a great time and got to hear Danny sing all the songs from his album live, one of them twice! Wow, doesn’t seem he was resting his voice much before going on AI the next day. Glad he was coming to AI off such a big appreciative crowd in San Jose

New blog talking about Danny from “country” who posted here one time about country music and Danny. Sounds as if she may go see Danny in Knoxville.

Still looking to ride with someone today. PLEASE!
Hi guys,
That last tweet from Danny. Wow. How many artists get the chance to call up their reps because they are in high demand. So cool.
I am thrilled for all of you going to the MKE concert tonight. And wow to that tweeter picture from MOA with people standing in 5-deep line for the autograph.
Casey – I sent you an email late last night. Did you get it?
That was a nice read Marilyn of your visit and experience with Danny. So many of our comments of those who have been blessed to meet Danny in person is the same. We will not get a chance to have that same experience again as we all knew this would happen to our Danny, Success!
My husband too was so surprised at how much I was taken with Danny right at his audition. Now that he has had a chance to meet him because he supported me with Danny, he now is telling the story we have when we met Danny. My husband firmly believes Danny is not going to change we will meet him again, I do pray so.
Off to vote cannot forget to do that and need to go buy bridal shower gifts, wedding and baby shower gits, so that is my morning and afternoon.
Take care all and thanks again for all the info you give us to watch Danny.
Just a quick info in the middle of cooking.. Food has to be ready soon, so I’ll log off after this and wish you a great Saturday!
Danny has taken back the #1 spot on the overall iTunes album chart! He was holding the #2 spot earlier today.
Milgokey- no -I freaking because there is something wrong with my email-I can’t retrieve anything. I thought I was going to miss everyone.
Are you still going around 1:00?
Yes, 1:00. I can meet you at the State Fair park and ride. Let me know.
Just saw the info on Danny’s tweet I am so glad he got the message about the CD’s being out. I tried to send an email to Sony on Thursday about the stores are out. Just sharing I bought another CD for a friend at a large WAlmart Friday. They have 4 left manager wants more do not know how many he started out with. He also was interested in the Walmart store tour mentioned a name that he was going to call.
I can only imagine how excited Danny is for his CD release Concert tonight I wish him all the best, have fun and get as excited as you want Danny, it is your turn to be happy.
That sounds Great! I’m on the phone w/tech support right now.I’ll try and email for details if they can fix it.TTY soon

Brian Mansfield writing at USA Today about the attempts to predict Danny’s album sales
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/idolchatter/post/2010/03/where-will-danny-gokeys-album-debut/1?csp=34
I hope that everyone going to Danny’s CD release party today in Milwaukee has a wonderful time.
I am looking forward to reading your recaps about this event.
Milgokey-They fixed it I sent you an email.
Thanks FOGS!

Hi everyone! Steph – I was just going to post the link! I pray Danny reaches 75,000! I can’t even think about the possibility of 100,000! Our Danny is a megastar!
Twitter: steph6449
Brian thinks Danny may be able to hit 75,000 copies of his album. Wow. Not sure if that could be true, but I liked reading it anyway
Brian Mansfield reads the Danny fans posts, Love him.
I’m really not sure where Danny will land in album sales. I think he could possibly do better than 50,000 but I just don’t know for sure. Especially since HDD has predicted at least twice that he would do between 45,000-50,000 in album sales and this was both before and after his appearance on AI. I’m not sure where Danny will land but I hope he at least sells within the range HDD has predicted for him.
Casey – got your email and sent one back.
Steph – that article was very optimistic. I like that! But, I’m still in wait and see mode. I guess you could call that just a postponement of celebration.
Thanks for all the well-wishes everyone for our concert tonight. It is a beautiful sunny day in Milwaukee, expected to be in the 40′s. For early March that is really, really good, btw. Danny weather for sure. 8)
Brian Mansfield actually thought the 75,000 was “a pretty easy target for Danny to hit”. I am also glad he clarified the early prediction from HDD of 45,000 to 50,000 did not factor in Danny’s Thurs night Idol performance. Brian said “Danny will clearly blow by the 50,000 mark”.
I would think that 19E and RCA Nashville must be tracking the sales results and Brian would not just be throwing this information on a whim.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Danny’s numbers get up that high. Danny reaches a broader audience than Kradam. I think Danny has a lot more fans that will buy hard copies vs digital. JMO
I am not going to get my hopes up that Danny will sell above 50,000 although I do believe it is a possibility. I do agree with I AM G that Brian probably would not throw out the 75,000 number if he didn’t check around a little first. He does have connections in Nashville – keeping fingers crossed he knows something already. I will be happy if Danny sells close to 50,000 because that will be a very solid debut for him. Glad to read Danny’s tweet that more CD’s are in stores. I agree with Brian that the bump from Danny’s AI performance is evident on Itunes because people can download right away. I have read that a TV performance does not normally translate to increased sales in stores for a couple of days so as long as Danny’s CD’s are in stores this weekend it should be okay.
Hi everyone!
I think if the stores were stocked well enough, Danny might have sold closer to some of these high estimates. But from what I’ve seen and heard, the cds often times are just not there to buy.
I’m leaning closer to the 45,000 to 50,000 range, and I still think that’s great, to be honest. Also, I think that this is such a good cd that it will continue to sell well. I don’t say this about all of my favorites, so I don’t think that it’s just my bias speaking here.
I think Danny and whoever else was involved did a great job of picking solid songs that suit him. I think these songs will appeal to a broad range of people. So whether he sells closer to 45,000 or 60,000 (which is the highest I will allow myself to dream of), it’s all good.
Oh, and I forgot to say how happy I am for all of you that will see Danny perform today! I know you all will have such a great time. It’s an exciting time in Danny land!
Hi everyone! I’ve been a faithful lurker on this site since last May and have enjoyed all of you so much…as well as sharing this wonderful journey of Danny’s.
I live in the Twin Cities and was at the Mall of America last night to hear Danny sing. As you were able to see on the short video earlier, he looked so handsome and sounded great (no hoarseness in his voice at all!)
And…standing 3 ft behind me for a short time was Danny’s cousin, Joel! Joel’s mother-in-law was right next to me and we chatted briefly about Danny. She met him several years ago at family gatherings. In the video clip, as you’re viewing the stage, Joel was, later on, over on the floor to Danny’s right with his wife and kids. Danny introduced him part way through the set, as well as Danny’s former youth minister in the crowd.
I didn’t get to meet Danny personally but it was such a thrill to be as close as I was, see him in person and hear his awesome voice live. It is such a joy to be a fan of his along with all of you.
hello ihearts, danny is doing awesome,so proud, but not surprised he was a star from day1,now he’s a brighter bolder star yay.i hope the people going 2 c danny 2day get the chance to meet & talk to him, good luck everyone, happy day wish i was there.im still waiting my turn to meet him, hopefully i get a chance to.goodluck cindy,ur so talented no worries, god bless.amy i voted again 2day,i really hope u win.thanks 4 all the information on danny, iheart is my life line.gotta run, have a happy & blessed day.
I am in the Pacific time zone, so it’s still good morning I-hearties! Read Brian’s article he seems to think that Danny will sell above HDD’s predictions of 50K, I am incline to agree with him given Danny’s album is holding steady in top position on both ITunes and Amazon the past 3 days, but I would not be disappointed if his sales ends up within the HDD predicted range.
I am sure his fans would love Danny to be nominated and possibly win major Music Awards, I know it is still too early to talk about this and would not want to set too high an expectation at this point, I just want to point out most major Music Awards like CMA & Grammys seem to be tied to album sales. That’s why I really hope Danny’s album keep selling lots, and the high sales numbers will give him a chance to at least be nominated for some major Music Awards come next year.
I had went to Wal-mart today where I live (a middle sized town in North Carolina) and I saw that Danny had only four CDs there. He was in the new releases section for all genres of music. Along with artists like Sade and the Black Eyed Peas. And there was one row on the end for him and his CDs. There were only two of his CD’s left.
And then I went looking at the Country music section and he had one row at the top of that section with only two CD’s left in that section.
So in total he only had four CD’s in Wal-mart left. I believe each row holds about 10 CD’s. So I would guess that he had 20 CD’s earlier but has sold 16 of them so far.
I saw that Easton Corbin had about 12 CD’s total in the new releases and Country music section and Blake had about 10 CD’s left total in both of these sections. Both Easton and Blake had at least three/four rows for their CD’s, compared to Danny’s two rows.
Lady Antebellum had a whole lot of CD’s in both sections of their album “Need You Now” and also of their debut album “Lady Antebellum”.
Hi Amy.
I’ve been reading comments on various blogs on Danny’s sales chart positions the past few days, and find it amusing that some posters start talking about Danny’s numbers in relation to Kris’. Some started speculating Danny may outsell Kris – I don’t think that will happen in the first week, but it is a possibility given a longer time frame like several months down the road.
But Danny does not really need to outsell Kris in the first week to “prove” anything, actually the fact that people start comparing the sales of an AI winner and the 3rd place finisher is interesting to me – we all know AI winners got most of the PR by appearing on National TV shows, AI ads, putting out an album shortly after the AI Tour to capitalize on fans purchasing, and right before the spending seasons of Thanksgiving & Christmas – so to compare Kris and Danny sales leads to the conclusion that either Kris album is not selling what it should OR Danny’s album is selling much better than it is expected.
The only time a non Top 2 finisher album to outsell AI winner happened in Season 5, Chris Daughtry (who came in 4th) debut album started selling more than Taylor’s on the third week & continues to this date. And also in that season Kelly Pickler’s debut album sold more than Taylor’s but that’s almost a year later.
Twitter: steph6449
Didn’t seem that Danny made the CMT Top 20 countdown, but maybe next time as his single sales should have jumped up considerably.
But they did just have a nice little segment with him on CMT Insider.
Twitter: steph6449
I almost (almost) hope that Danny does not outsell Kris, although that have some karmic payback for all those who were chortling over that Kradison concert recently not including Danny
It would embarrass Kris and possibly reignite fanwars. But if I read Brian’s blog correctly, it may be quite possible that Danny will as he claims Danny should easily be able to reach 75,000 and Kris was barely over 80,000.
I’ll be very happy if Danny has the top new country artist result this year, hits high on the country sales charts, and is a comfortable margin about Allison’s ~31k in sales. The idea that Danny could hit the top of all album sales honestly wasn’t something I let myself think about, much less his outselling Kris. It is a nice idea though
It is exciting to see how Danny does. I hope his sales results open more doors for him to get more radio adds and airplay, some cool invitations like presenting at the ACM awards next month, coming back to AI9 for IGB or another opportunity, etc.
Decided to check the top 1000 COUNTRY songs on Itunes just to see the popularity of Danny’s songs:
#2 MBDAAOM
#32 I Still Believe
#54 I Will Not Say Goodbye
#118 MBDAAOM single
#218 Get Away
#280 Tiny Life
#285 It’s Only
#404 Life On YA
#405 Like That’s a Bad Thing
#436 Be Somebody
#478 Crazy Not To
Happy to see Danny’s album holding steady at #1 on Itunes overall and country charts.
Other than FOGS, has anyone else checked at Walmart and Target to see if they got in new shipments of Danny’s CD? I can’t help but believe that Danny would have sold more if there were more CD’s in the stores. A lot of people are casual shoppers and might just pick up the CD if they see it. If they don’t see it they probably won’t come back to get it later.
Hey! Just wanted to say to the folks going to the CD release party in Milgokey today, have fun, go crazy, and tell Mr. Gokey that his bigest fan in Clarksville, Tn. loves him very, VERY, much!!!!
<3
That would great if Danny first week sales reached 75k!!! I'm not really sure about it, but there's always a chance that it could happen. I think 45-50k sounds like a reasonable sales number for Danny. Either or, just have to wait til Tuesday to see what the final results are and just go from there. I'm always hoping for the best when it comes to Danny. Always
Why haven’t my comments not been posting lately? I would repost what I just typed but it probably would do the same thing.
Never mind. Figured it would do that. I’ll just come back on later. Have fun Milgokey crew today!!!
Twitter: steph6449
Lizzy, that’s awesome
Why would there be two different entries for MBD on the song chart? Do you have any guess how that would be factored for Billboard purposes?
.
can’t help thinking about those comments a while back at mj’s about the possibility of a “sleeping giant” in Danny’s fanbase. after putting up with all the detractors and haters predicting danny would be forgotten, we’ll have to see whether he’s any more than a moderate-sized giant, but — nice to have confirmed he’s waking up anyway
I am making what may be my first and last post of the day, since I am having trouble with my computer. (Although other parts of the computer seem to be working okay. Hmm.)
MARILYN: Loved, loved, loved your recap! I laughed reading your description of the drive to San Jose. You husband is such a guy!
CAROLE: If you pop on later, I got your e-mail from today and sent one back.
EVERYBODY: Wal-Mart had 3 Danny CDs left as of last night, and my friend picked them up for me. (They’re for gifts.) But Freddies now has 8 copies, so I’m a bit happier, because that must mean they sold the first 4 they had and got more in. So the stores must be able to restock pretty quickly. I was paranoid in part because when Wal-Mart ran out of Adam’s CD, it took them 2 months to get more in. In retrospect I’m thinking the problem was with the local distributor rather than Wal-Mart, because at around the same time, Target was down to 3 or 4 copies, and Freddies only had 1. So hopefully the stores will now have an adequate number of Danny’s CDs, especially for this weekend, which will be the first opportunity after Danny’s AI appearance that many of the folks who saw him will have to get to the stores.
Good afternoon everyone!
Lizzy, I just got back from 2 Target stores, I live in the San Francisco/San Mateo area in California and not a big country music area. There were no available MBD CDs in both stores that I went to. I asked the persons manning those areas and he told me that they were all sold out. I asked them how many CDs came in and they both said that for every store they get about 10 to 15 per shipment and they receive deliveries every midweek. One of them said they are expecting more to come next week because of the high demand. He then asked me if I want to reserve a copy. I already have 3 CDs and 1 download but I did not want to look like I was just scouting for info so I said yes. Then he asked me about what is this buzz about Danny. I told him everything good about Danny in a span of 1 min and he said he’ll check him out. So hoping he’ll be a convert Danny fan.

GAC is running a long show with Wynonna Judd. Had some of her records when I was younger, but it’s been a while since I’ve followed her.
I can see why Danny talks about relating when he was young to her as a “soulful” country singer. The type of songs she’s doing actually are somewhat similar to the upbeat/midtempo songs on Danny’s CD.
Danny has slipped one spot on the overall albums chart on Itunes and is now #2. The “Almost Alice” soundtrack CD is now ahead of him. I am not surprised this happen, because I believe that movie came out this weekend, and that is helping drive sales for the CD. Hopefully Danny can stay in the top 5 albums on Itunes for as long as he can.
I am annoyed at this Idolphantom who is commenting on Brian’s article and poll on Danny’s album sales. This supposed Danny fan (a poser I suspect) is making Danny fans look bad. This person is saying that Danny will outsell Kris and is putting Kris down and saying Danny will sell over 100,000 yada yada yada. I suspect it is a poser trying to star a fanwar but I don’t like it because Danny’s fans are always so respectful in their comments. I posted a comment saying that this person did not represent the views of Danny’s fans but it still annoys me.
Twitter: steph6449
Lizzy, I saw that person
Another blog’s take. Positive but taking the this-is-Christian-music tack, which I don’t really get. Whatever, I suppose.

Hi everyone. steph, I read the blog you just posted. Can’t really complain because they liked it. But people say the strangest things sometimes! It’s so interesting. I am thinking of what this person said about Danny being Carrie’s counterpart in terms of having a strong voice, and then said as with Carrie, the display of strength sometimes means a loss of emotion. What in the heck? I think if Danny displayed much more emotion with his singing he might just shatter into pieces – it’s one of his greatest strengths, to be able to do that but still with great control. I just don’t know what people are thinking sometimes!
I keep thinking about the group in Milwaukee today. I hope everything goes perfectly so that they all get in to see Danny. I’m sure it’s going to be a very special night.
marilyn, I commented on the separate post but wanted to say also here how much I loved your recap! You really are a good writer, I felt as if I were right there with you.

Were around the corner and like 3 blocks down waiting in line for @dannygokey!
I have just a minute before I have to leave but just wanted to wish everyone in Milgokey a wonderful time tonight seeing Danny in concert!!!!
Steph, just read your post from someone there reporting on twitter. I have no idea just how big Turner Hall is, but good grief, will all those people in line really get into the venue??? That looks like a lotta peeps!
OK….BBL
I just read from twitter that Danny’s Album launching is sold-out. A couple of fans were really disappointed.
@dannygokey I WANTED TO SEE U BUT THE FAT POLICE OFFICER SAID IT WAS SOLD OUT
@dannygokey well my friends and i came to see u and they sold out before it said! Im kinda mad tbh!
@dannygokey we wanted to see you in milwaukee tonight but its sold out
we are very sad D:
Ana, I saw that too.
@dannygokey i just lost all respect to the police officers of milwaukee cause of tonight
@dannygokey I WANTED TO C U! BUT UR MANAGAEMENT SUX
Aw, what can you do, once the place is booked it is booked….
Arrrggh! I just wrote a post but forgot to fill in the fiels (I cleared my history today) and lost my entire post.
I think Danny could easily outsell Kris and I don’t think Mansfield’s prediction of 75,000 is unrealistic at all. In fact, I think he could possibly sell 100K. Kris fans may be angry if he does but I’ve also seen comments from them saying they think Danny will outsell him too. They seem resigned to it, for the most part. I don’t think Kris himself would have a problem with it either. He has done decently, and I don’t think Kris cares about being a megastar. I don’t think his dreams are as big as Danny’s–he’s just happy he gets to play music and sing for a living.
After driving to the store and surrounding myself with Danny’s voice (and taking the long way to hear more of him), I have just one question:
How the $@&%# did Danny not win American Idol? He has one of the best recording voices I’ve ever heard, maybe the best.
I really love all the songs, Get Away and I Still Believe are really growing on me now. Has anyone noticed how sexy Danny’s growl is at the end of ISB? Gives me goosebumps, among other things…LOL
This is really bad because it could put off some disgruntled fans for good.

someone who saw Danny yesterday at the Mall of America
I am in love with @dannygokey after I met him
he’s awesome
@dannygokey mr gokey!!! You were awesome at moa yesterday! You are a very sweet nice person keep it up
http://twitpic.com/16yqct –
I love @dannygokey
Had the most awesome meeting @dannygokey last night!!!
Hey Ihearties,
It’s about time for Danny’s concert to start. I sure hope that all of the iheart fans got in.
Ana, Sounds like there are a lot of disappointed fans who couldn’t get in. Why wasn’t the concert held in a bigger venue? That’s so sad to know that so many of Danny’s fans can’t get in.
rowansmom, If your prediction of 100K comes true that would put Danny at the very top at #1 or #2, because HDD predicts about 115K for Lady Antebellum this week and 75K for Sade, as place #2 prediction.
Also ITA about recording voice. I mean we all rave how good he sounds live, but I also really like his recording voice. This album is one of the best, if not the best albums I’ve ever listened to. I love the way how they mellowed Danny down in some parts, made him sound real radio-friendly.
And also I agree with what you posted couple of days ago about not being swamped in a wall of music. There is just the right balance of instrumentation and his voice strength.
I like that it is not “overproduced.” Many albums now are just too “noisy,” several background themes crammed together, whereas this one is just “loud” and “clear.”
The most curious thing about it is that I can listen to it without getting sick of it. And I can stop listening, without an irrational urge not to stop.
Twitter: steph6449
I’m glad it is sold out after a big crowd showed up, but it’s a shame some people made the effort to try to attend and couldn’t get in. I hope those peeps will still buy Danny’s CD somewhere else, and have their chance to see him live at Summerfest or some other opportunity.
Bosman, sad that fans have to be turned away. But on the other hand, it is good media, Danny’s Concert being Sold-Out.
I guess Sony is being conservative in their estimate concerning Danny’s popularity even in his hometown, hence the small venue.
VickieCarol, it is really unfortunate that the place is not big enough for the fans, but hopefully the fans that have been turned-away will not be to disgruntled to the point they will not buy Danny’s CD. If they are from Milwaukee they will be more forgiving.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Just saw a tweet from someone I don’t know that Pam is in. Yay! I don’t think I know the twitter names of other people from here that I know who are going.
I sure hope that you are right, Ana. I don’t think they will be upset with Danny, he wasn’t the one who booked the venue. They seem to be upset with Danny’s managers and the policemen who are turning them away. I can understand them being frustrated and just wanting to take it out on someone. But I’m sure they will still love Danny and his music.
Like Steph said, hopefully they all can see Danny at Summerfest.

Danny appears to have a date in early June at a Raleigh NC club. Seems like a good indicator he will continue to have some dates on his own during breaks when he’s not on the Sugarland dates.
http://www.longbranchraleigh.com/index.php?option=com_scheduler&view=scheduler&Itemid=21#date=2010-06-06,mode=month
Josie,
Here is a tweet from Deb. So these Ihearties got in, yeaaaaa….
@dannygokey me @pjgvet @jasonklpn @danieljgokeyfan are all here in the second row woo hooo
Wow, Steph,
That is certainly a busy schedule that Danny is on. I didn’t think of him even doing gigs in between his shows with Sugarland. I sure hope that his voice can handle all that.
That means that Deb, Pam, Jason, Meaghan are all together and in the second row. I am so excited for them. I hope we get some good videos and pictures from them later.
I wonder if Casey and Milgokey were able to get in?
Michelle and probably Val got in to see Danny. Yesssss……
Twitter: steph6449
VickieCarol, from what I can tell a lot of country acts do these club dates on a regular basis, in addition to any larger touring. The Sugarland tour seems to have some breaks built into it, assuming perhaps to protect Jennifer Nettles’ voice after all the issues she had last year. So there are some windows due to that where Danny can either take time off or do dates on his own. Also in certain segments of the Sugarland tour they have other combinations of opening acts that don’t include Danny.
This is the first club-type date I’d seen though, during the Sugarland tour. The others that came to light seemed to be big country music festival type things (BamaJam, Country Stampede).

Awww. Busy as Danny has to be, he just DMed one of those girls who was tweeting about not making it into Turner Hall.
@dannygokey we were in the car starting a rant on the mean police officer saying “we want danny. Down with fat man!”
@DANNYGOKEY I LOVE YOU!!!! BUT U JUST MADE THE NIGHT OF ABOUT 6 GIRLS!!!! WE ALL JUST SCREAMED IN THE CAR!
@dannygokey U MADE THE NIGHT ABOUT 6 GIRLS! WE ALL SCREAMED WHEN I CHECKED MY PHONE! WANNA COME TO MY HOUSE AND SING?????
DANNY DM`D ME!!!!!!
Twitter: steph6449
LOOK AT THAT!!!! it’s the second one!!!! http://twitpic.com/171w1z
less than 20 seconds ago via Echofon
The group of young fans who were really disappointed they were not able to get in and were quite upset with the police man. Had a happy ending after all. Read her tweet below:
…we were in the car starting a rant on the mean police officer saying “we want danny. Down with … man!”
…DANNY DM`D ME!!!!!!
… I LOVE YOU!!!! BUT U JUST MADE THE NIGHT OF ABOUT 6 GIRLS!!!! WE ALL JUST SCREAMED IN THE CAR!
Danny really is so caring to his fans.
Steph,
That’s good to know. I’m glad that the concert dates are spaced out. I think I remember something about Jennifer’s voice going out too. That’s a smart move, to spread out the dates.
I can’t believe that Danny hasn’t lost his voice with all the promotion that he has been doing. He didn’t even rest his voice before the AI appearance, which I thought that he would get at least a one day rest before that but he didn’t. But I’m so happy that he is in such high demand.
I don’t think there is any artist who cares about his/her fans more than Danny Gokey. Don’t you just love this guy? He is so incredibly sweet. I can just see those girls in their car screaming and going crazy.
GokeyGirls, and New Cindy are there.
I think Jen is with Deb’s group.

concert’s started
@dannygokey you are killing it on stage right now!
http://twitpic.com/1725jy – @dannygokey What hurts the most
I do so hope all the people from here got in. They really had a better chance because they all had a gut feeling that there would not be enough seats and worked to get there early before it sold out. Too bad his management didn’t realize, like we did, that Turner Hall wouldn’t be large enough to hold all who wanted in to see Danny.
How disappointing it would be to drive any distance and not get in, not knowing that you would have to be there early to get in.
Danny is so sweet to DM some of his fans. He really is so caring. I think of the big puppy image of Danny. Even in San Jose when we kept applauding at the end and yelling more, more, he relented and did one more song even though he was wore out from singing and signing CD’s earlier that evening.
I have a friend, from my church, who is the best female singer I’ve ever known, she has a couple cd’s out and if you ever ask her to sing, she doesn’t act coy, but brightly says, “Okay,” and grabs her guitar and starts singing. She loves to sing and give of herself in that way. I see Danny as being the same way. He loves to give to others any way he can.
I just that man so much.
Whoops == Love, Love that man so much!

Hi
Lots of stuff happening in Dannyland this weekend, wonder what’s going on?
Store report, The Target in Pittsburgh had 3 Danny cds, 1 left with me. He was in the New release section.
Walmart in the Ohio Valley had 2 Danny cds and looking at their quantity sticker they started with 9. New release section only. Waht was interesting about this was that per the quantity sticker on Blake Shelton they had 32 w about 18 left, 32 of Easton with 20 left and Adam w 20 and 20 left.
This is a free Danny Gokey music weekend here and though I havent heard the song played yet this weekend they are giving away the CD, thats WOVK.
Twitter: .
Since we were talking sales I have been saving this PR release from this time last year for a labelmate of Dannys’…
..Jake Owen roars onto the country album sales chart this week, as his sophomore collection, Easy Does It, takes it anything but easy with first-week sales in excess of 23,000, earning Jake a #2 berth on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart…
http://www.hiponline.com/6847/jake-owen-blasts-onto-the-country-album-sales-chart-at-2-with-easy-does-it.html
Wonder what they’ll do for Danny.
Agggh a person on twitter is accusing Danny of being high on something … I am so upset with her.
high maybe on Expresso as @Def_Santiago twitted.
Btw, CONGRATS 2 the boys on Idol last night. But uh,… Why come you guys gave Danny the shots of espresso b4 he went on? Tell me why? Lol
Hi Marilyn, loved your recap. It’s just so bad we didn’t meet. Hopefully, we’ll do next time. I also sent my recap to Erika but I think I forgot to attach it in the email, so I had to resend it.
Ana, I saw that tweet, too re Danny being high on something. What they do not know is that Danny is high in the joy of the Lord! That’s what it is!
Twitter: steph6449
If Jake’s *second* album is considered to have “roared” onto the country charts with 23,000 copies, how could Danny’s be described if he winds up with 2 or even 3 times that many copies?
And good on Easton Corbin, for that matter who looks to have a lot of sales by country standards for his first album. I think I saw Easton and Danny were both part of some event coming up. Maybe the St Jude event in Boston?
Danip, Thanks for the PR release piece on Jake Owen’s albums sales from his sophomore album. It sure gives us data to compare Danny’s sales figures to in country. That writer used the words “roar” onto the country albums with 23,000 sales.
I’m like you, what in the world will they say about Danny’s great selling first release?
We all knew Danny was a charismatic performer with a marvel of a voice with a way to reach um emotionally with his soulfulness, and now with the release of his CD and his SurgarLand touring concerts, the rest of the world is going to start acclaiming him as brilliant, which we knew all along.
Hi Nina, would love to meet you too. At Best Buy, I bet you got Danny hugs that I didn’t.
Thank you for the kind words. I’m looking forward to reading your recap too. Hope you were able to get some good pics too.
Thank you too to Ellen, Stephm and others too, I can’t remember all right off the top of my head, who thanked me for my recap. Glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to write because I sort of relived the whole thing as I fished out the details in my mind.lol
I found out I missed writing, I need to start writing again.
Steph
Kind of amusing how we both picked up on same word “roared” at the same time and posted in the same minute. lol
Twitter: .
I thought you guys would get a kick out of that release. Maybe Dannys’ label should have a contest to see what they can come up with folowing this whirlwind week.
Need to go cook dinner. Be back later.
Yeah Nina, he really has to have the Joy of the Lord because he will be needing a lot of strength.
Danny’s schedule is grueling, his eyes really looked very tired.
Just throwing this out there…if someone gets super bored and wants to type up the lyrics from the CD booklet, can you please let me know? I had a request for them. Thanks a ton!
Also…just thought you guys might be interested to know we had our most visits EVER yesterday on the site, topping the night he left American Idol. WOW!
Hallo everyone-it`s quiet tonight! I`ve been going to Twitter then coming back here- I`m glad all our ihearties got in-but I`m very sad for those who didn`t- Turner Hall was never going to be large enough-and apparently they were standing in line for 3 blocks! I would like to tell everyone that, from what I understand, Danny helped young Meaghan-and her guide dog to get in safely- we heard that she was not be treated very well by Turner Hall staff, so tweeted Danny- It seems that he saw them- He is a very special guy-Meaghan is such a lovely girl-she flew from Nashville to see Danny- Well, whoever booked the hall will learn from mistakes made-I think that Danny`s album has been more successful than anyone, except his fans!,realised-
Wow, Amy, that`s amazing-didn`t think ANYTHING would top that memeorable night- So glad- Everyone knows that this is the best site- with more up to date news and videos than anywhere else-Thanks to you and Erika
Twitter: .
Didn’t see this above but if it is this is a repeat.
Looks like Danny picked up 4 seconday ads today so far ..

Biloxi, MS
Marilyn, how rude of me, I just read your recap and I loved it- You had quite a journey to get there, didn`t you? What a lovely husband you have- you know, I think a lot of guys like Danny-they may be slow to admit it! Danny`s schedule is really gruelling- he seems to run on nervous energy- a bit like me lol! But, it`s all too easy to burn yourself out- and he has to protect that incredible voice- It makes my head spin just reading his spring and summer schedule
Twitter: steph6449
I saw something that suggested he sang to her too, awww.
Twitter: steph6449
Amy, that’s awesome. Congratulations to you & Erika.
Twitter: steph6449
looks like Fox6 already had something up about Danny’s concert
just saw the Fox 6 News piece about the Danny Gokey concert. Nice interview with Sophia’s sister, Margerita.
Oh, Steph, that would be SO wonderful for her- What an amazing guy he is- I know some of his family were there, how proud must they be-?
Great minds! I was going to ask if Fox news had anything on their site-will go there now and have a look!!
Steph, have you a link for the Fox news piece, can`t find it?
Twitter: BLfolsom
Steph and Marilyn, that word “roared” is interesting describing Jake Owens second release.
Let’s think of a word that would describe Dannys’ debut release since the estimates so far have been a little higher than that.
BTW, I was at my local Walmart tonight after work – they only had two CD’s in the entire store, I don’t know if that’s good cause he’s sold so many or bad cause people can’t buy them – probably a little of both. =-|
Steph, whatlink would I go to for the Fox News piece?
I have no idea how Danny’s sales will go. I just hope they are good enough that his label will support him with media exposure and another video. And that he eventually gets to cut another album.
Twitter: BLfolsom
Oh Amy, congrats on having soooo many people on this site. Thx to you and Ericka for doing so much for Danny fans.
Your twitter pic is beautiful! No wonder you were a canidate for that calendar.
Twitter: steph6449
Sorry, that was just a tweet from someone who saw it live on tv. I didn’t look to see if the video would be up yet on the Fox 6 site.
Carole, if you are still around, hope you got my earlier message.
Twitter: steph6449
She just tweeted to Danny, apparently he did really sing to her during Back at One, awwww.
OK, all I can say RN is that @dannygokey is awesome, and I will never think of back at one the same again
Yes, Ellen, I did, and you will be hearing from me soon!!
Steph, I saw he sang Back At One to her- so wonderful, she will never forget tonight, and it will make her smile whenever times get rough- I just love Danny Gokey!!
Amy, if you are around, I hope you might be able to post a link to the FOXNews interview with Danny`s sister in law tomorrow- Hopefully it will be up on their site- I see they have all Danny`s events from last year, interviews etc- incase anyone hasn`t seen them-

Hi everyone!
Just back from the concert and I am WIRED!
Wow, wow, wow.
Danny with a full band in concert with his own stuff=incredible.
The 8+ hour wait in the cold was worth it. We were all scattered about but were right up in front. I had a wonderful view of Danny (who looked incredible) front and center; even got some tummy views
when he raised his arms.
Sang 9 songs:
MBDAA
Life on Ya
I will Not say Goodbye
WHTM
Back at One
Crazy Not to
I Still Believe
Be Somebody
Get Away
We do not need to worry about Danny in concert with Sugarland; he will blow them away.
Get Away was my favorite- wow did they rock it; loved it.
Had the good fortune to meet (in addition to lots of ihearties I already knew) Milgokey Fan (Karen), Casey25 (Kelley)- who managed to meet up and come together
Things work out for ihearties! Also spent a lot of time with Coriellen; a lovely person. Kimberly Owen, Gokey Girl (Lorie) from Twitter also.
Sorry if I missed anyone, my brain is part frozen and part in awe.
To be continued….
Pam, sounds like you had an awesome time! So glad so many ihearties were there with you and were able to get in!
Hope to hear more details when you have time to get your thoughts together….and after you come down off that cloud nine you’re floating around on! LOL!
Now…off to read the rest of the posts

A sweet, sweet story you will all become familiar because I’m sure it will air on uTube and also maybe Lifetime channel:
One more piece of evidence Danny never disappoints and is a remarkable human being.
There is a blind college girl named Megan from Twitter. I had given Danny a letter from her at Grafton and told her not to worry; she would meet him some day.
Well, she flew (took 2 different planes) with her guide dog Whitney from Nashville to see Danny. We went out to dinner last night with Val, Karen and Deb Hanson (who shared a hotel room). Needless, to say, it was not easy for her to stand in line all day with her guide dog; plus go eat, find restrooms etc.
Lifetime channel was there; they are going to have a segment on inspiring people- Danny will be on in June and August I believe. Val grabbed them and brought them over to hear Megan and interview her. The reporter, Julie, also told Danny about Megan.
Val and Jen ran into Ivan around the corner by the tour bus and asked them to ask Danny to give a special shout out to Megan.
Megan was right in the front row by the stage (I was right behind her with Deb Hanson). It was sweet; a legally blind Vietnam Vet next to her was helping her raise her hand every time Danny came near (Danny being Danny of course tried to touch as many hands as he could. Although that became annoying to many of us as people behind lunged forward shoving others to try and touch Danny).During Back At One, Danny paused
and went over to her, asked her name, told everyone how inspiring she was for not letting her blindness hold her back from coming to see him.
He held her hand and sang several verses of Back at One to her.
OMG, she was sobbing uncontrollably! And half the audience was crying too (including yours truly); it had to be one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. There were several who taped it (including Deb) so I know it will show up on UTube and Megan said she didn’t mind (so Erika you can post it here).
I encouraged Megan to write a recap for us here; hopefully she will! And I’m sure everyone else at the concert may have better recollection of everything he said to/about her. It was just so dang touching.
Ivan brought us to the front of the line so Megan could hug Danny and get his autograph, Danny petted Whitney and loved her.
Erika, I’m sorry I didn’t get you an autograph (they were the same as your DGO copy); the line was soooo long (1000 people) and Megan was very tired after the long day so I didn’t stay- took them for ice cream at Kopps (Danny’s fave) and back to their hotel.
So I am home fairly early; but of course too wired to sleep !
Danny and the peppermints are going to KILL IT on tour.
We can look forward to more good recaps because there were a lot of ihearties there
Pam, I’m so Excited for all of you. What great seats you all had. I’m so glad that all of you ihearts met up too. The ihearts are one big happy family!!!
What an amazing night for everyone, especially Megan. I can’t wait to read her recap. Hope she writes one when she comes down off of Cloud Nine.
Marilyn, Loved reading your recap. Loved the descriptions. It made me feel like I had just watched a movie of your experience. Maybe next time you will get to meet Danny and get a famous Danny hug.
Hi pjgvet.
Thanks for the recap about Danny’s CD release party in Milwaukee tonight. I am glad that you and other Danny fans there had a great time. Also I hope some video of Danny doing “Crazy Not To” pops up somewhere, I would really like to see a video of him singing that song live.
That is a very sweet story about what Danny did for Megan. He is such a sweet guy.
Amy, Congrats on the number of visits to your site. This is the place to be to find out about “all things Danny”. And the word has gotten out. As Danny’s popularity goes up, so does your number of visits.
Oh, Amy, if we can vote again for you on that contest, can you post it again. I voted once but if we can vote once a day I’ll need the link again.
Twitter: LuluGokey
Welcome back Pam! Thank you for your recap! I’m so touched by the Megan’s part! I know her on twitter. She’s a very optimistic girl. I’m so happy for her to got to meet Danny, and Danny sang Back To One to her! How sweet is that boy!
Just wanted to say that Mark Bolin is THE MAN! When he found out that Turner Hall was treating Meaghan badly, he got on the phone and contacted one of Danny’s sisters as well as texted Danny telling him about the situation. Apparently Danny arrangd for Meaghan to sit up front and sang “Back At One” to her. And if anyone who was there and witnessed what happened, you need to call management at Turner Hall. From what I gather, they weren’t going to allow her inside to the restaurant to get a cup of coffee and let her guide dog, Whitney, warm up. As far as I know, that is ILLEGAL. I am glad that Danny made it right.
Pam, What an amazing night!!!Danny on Lifetime, WOW!!!
Yes, Meaghan is awesome and such a courageous girl to travel from Nashville to Milwaukee with Whitney, who is a sweetheart. I had the pleasure of picking her and Deb up from the airport and going out to lunch with them yesterday. I’m so glad it all turned out so well for her. It almost makes my $60 parking ticket worth it. LOL!
Twitter: pjgvet
Lol, Steph, I see Megan didn’t waste any time getting on Twitter after I dropped her off!
She said she was exhausted; but I knew she would be wired and on cloud 9 for quite a while!!
Lulu, it was such a privelage to be able to help facilitate her dreams and watch her sob with job at the wonderful thing Danny did. I am tearing up again as I think about it.
Twitter: pjgvet
Actually, Danny didn’t arrange for Megan to get in and sit up front. She was in line with us and just before we all went in; Jen and Michelle and Val went and talked the guy into letting her go in early via the handicapped entrance so she and the other gentleman (the legally blind one I mentioned) were right up front.
Danny is fantastic; but that credit goes to the iheart girls
Twitter: steph6449
FOGS, it wasn’t very good quality but there was a video posted of Danny singing Crazy Not To in Georgia earlier this week. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=103343223
I would love to see a better version, and any of the songs with a full band. Sounds like everyone had such a great time, and that story with Meaghan is beyond sweet (though sorry she had a rough time to initiate the chain of events).
Pam, thanks for sharing a quick report. Glad you had an amazing time!
Twitter: pjgvet
FOGS,
Crazy Not To was sooooooooooooooo good; just like you would imagine. Deb Hanson taped several songs, but I’m not sure if that was one of them.
Someone said they thought he sounded a little hoarse; but I thought he sounded great; especially considering everything that has gone on this week.
And his stage presence; no problem anymore. He is a rock and roll (well, country-rock) star.
Well thanks to whoever got Meaghan in and up front. I do know that Mark contacted Danny though as we were DMing each other about it.
Thanks for the video steph
. I am looking forward to seeing videos of Danny with the live band too.
Pjgvet
I am glad that Danny was very comfortable on stage and had good stage presence. I noticed also how comfortable he was on stage on AI Thursday night.
And again, anyone who witnessed what went on with Meaghan needs to contact management at Turner Hall so that it doesn’t happen again to someone else. I know that on their website it does say to contact them several days in advance, but someone who is visually handicapped may not “see” that either.
Man, Get Away really rocks! I am loving all the songs on his album. Honestly, I didn’t expect to love ALL of them, but I do.
Pam, thanks for your amazing recap. What a sweet thing Danny did for your friend. He has such a huge heart–as big as his voice.
Twitter: jancute
Good Morning Ladies!!! so late for me to go here ughgh!!
just watched Danny’s GAC Fan questions! Congrats to Jan and Julie!!!
based on Danny’s 5 things, he drinks alot of tea… so that is why hmmm,, that is why based on you ladies here who met him how beautiful Danny’s skin is and how soft it is and how Danny’s has such incredible growly voice hmmm, I never knew Danny drinks tea… I love sweet tea though YAY!!!
Danny is such a comedic personality, he put smiles on me everyday whenever an interview is done to him… he needs a comic show YAY!!!
Hey everyone! Are you down from your high yet?
Erika, Thanks for posting that Fox video. So touching to see Sophia’s sister. Her crying made me cry. I know she must miss Sophia very much.
I might be wrong but it looked like Jen on that video standing in line. She was waving at the camera. Was that Jen?
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Pam Thanks for the recap! I had been hearing that Meaghan was having a difficult time With the Turner people and worried about how it turned out for her. Then I heard Danny made it all better!!!! She is over the moon about it based in her tweets! I can’t even imagine what it must have been like for her to have Danny sing Back At One to her! I know I’d be crying uncontrollably too! I can’t wait to see all the video!
Were all the ladies screaming when he sang Crazy No To? I would have been like that crying girl who was in love with Sanjaya! Or, one of those screaming Elvis fans!
Twitter: jancute
hey Ellen, did you watch the fox news? It almost made me cry to see Sophia’s sister crying on the line to Turner Hall, Its just so bittersweet for Gokey and Martinez Families to see what is happening and Danny continues to amaze me how he can handle grief and unending happiness on a span of 1 and a half years after Sophia’s death… Danny is a one of a kind Idol for me and for his fans, hes like a rare piece of jewelry that is priceless.
Pam, helio – Loved Get Away too, its so Danny and like a Rockish type of song… love him doing some Rock! YAY!
Pigvet – So glad you and the other Iheart gals were able to get to see Danny celebrate his cd debut and thanks for the heart-warming story of Danny and Meagan. How he held her hand and sang “Back at One” to her. How wonderful.
If anyone would understand blindness it would be Danny who is, we know, legally blind without his glasses.
Steph – I read the “Country” blog you posted this morning and was a little concerned about what she wrote about not thinking Danny was country. Although she admitted she hadn’t heard all of his songs yet. When she told how other artists go country and have hits then falls off the face of the earth, she puts a concern out there that that could happen to Danny. Although she said he had too good of vocals and she didn’t really think that would happen to him too.
I saw the great posts there in reply to her blog. Below is mine:
I can see Danny as a cross over pop, and some of his songs cross over to christian, however, I’ve been a country fan for years and lost my love affair with most of the music. It’s been several years since I purchased any CD’s (although I have a huge collection from years past) and although I always listen to country radio, most of the songs just don’t reach me anymore. I don’t know what the problems are, but I just don’t care for most of the music.
I do love Lay A’s songs, Carrie’s Temporary Home, Josh Turner’s “Let’s Dance”, like “That sounds Like Life to me, Rebba’s, “Consider me Gone.” But I can count the ones I like on two hands.
However with that said, I just bought two of Danny’s CDs. I’m so happy he went country so I can hear him on the radio.
I believe he fits in perfectly with country because of: His faith, his penchant for charity work, his poor but happy big family upbringing, he understands the ordinary person, blue collar roots, his driving an 18-wheeler while pursuing a music career as choir director at two churches, his love and acceptance for all people from all walks of life, his liking to tell ordinary stories in his music, and of course his wonderful vocals, and last, but not the least his feeling perfectly at home in Nashville and around other country artists, fans.
Just saw Danny at the Rodeo Club sponsored by San Jose Country radio and he was fabulous and the mostly young adults there screamed and hollered and hooted and whistled with applause so that I finally stuck my fingers in my ears for a few moments. I was up front next to the stage and the noise was deafening, not the music, but the appreciation, love given to Danny. This was 3/3 Wed. before he sang on AI.the next evening.
So what do you think? Country? I hope he makes New Country Artist of the year. By the way, his whole album is one of the best I’ve heard in years.
What was with that reporter. Instead of saying “My Best Days”, he said “My Better Day”.
So has anyone who was skeptical of the country route that Danny was taking (like me) been converted yet?
The first time I listened to Danny’s CD, it didn’t sound country to me at all. The second time, I thought, okay, a little bit. I like the description that Matt Bjorke (sp?) of Roughstock gave in a tweet — he said it was “country-ish.”
Went shopping with a friend today, and played Danny’s CD in her car. She is a country fan, and said the CD is in line with a certain segment of the country market. I asked her about “Be Somebody,” which sounds very urban to me, and she pointed out that a lot of country music fans live in cities.
Hi Ellen So glad your computer is operating just fine now.
When I wrote the above, I wasn’t referring to any of we I hearts that wished he would go pop in the beginning. I just didn’t like the way she wrote kind of inferring that Danny was like a “flash in the pan,” without staying power because MBDAAOM didn’t sound country enough to her.
Nancy, good to see you here. I take it that you were at the Milwaukee concert?
Everybody get their beauty sleep, because the rest of the ihearties will be awaiting the recaps with bated breath. Never can have too many of them, as every individual’s perspective is different.
Oh, Marilyn, my post was random! I wasn’t responding to anyone’s else’s post.
I saw what you wrote earlier, about your love of writing, and wanting to get back to it. What kind of writing did you do?
Your recap was truly wonderful. Hope I get to meet you someday!
Oh, I have a question for you. Was there some sort of meet and greet at the San Jose event? I know you recognized Danny’s fatigue and chose not to stay. But I wanted to clarify that point.
Oh, and no, Marilyn, my computer is still acting up, but nowhere nearly as badly as this morning. Never saw it act like that before!

Ellen, I think a few of the songs like I Still Believe, MBD and Life on Ya are pretty country. But most are definitely blended with pop, rock, soul.
All ihearties got in! We were smart. About 500 people had lined up by 3 pm and got wrist bands.
I feel bad some fans didn’t get in. But there is no need for them to be angry about it; if you roll up to an advertised hot concert ($12 including CD) within a half hour of the doors opening you weren’t thinking.
I don’t think that would keep me from buying a CD.
I don’t know what it was booked there; except that it is a favorite venue for artists; very intimate, historically Milwaukee and there was alot going on in Milwaukee tonight (including back to back Marquette/Bucks basketball games across the street at the Bradley Center arena where the AI tour had been ). The restaurant at Turner Hall was insane; you could hardly walk through it.
They were rude not letting Megan sit to have just coffee. But we could have gone down the street to another restaurant that would serve the minimum order; but she was fine (just ticked
Cheryl; everyone was swooning over Crazy Not To.
And it was incredible how he sang to Megan; I think I would have cried too. Heck I was crying for her.
Oh, Pam, I’m so glad all the ihearties made it in. I wasn’t sure how that would work. What time did folks start getting in line?
Pam,
Did you see Casey and Milgokey too?
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Pam, I’m so glad that it worked out for you and the other ihearties and that everyone had such a great time! It must have been kind of overwhelming at times, what a great time for Danny to make a return to his home town.
Twitter: pjgvet
Vickie, I did meet and chat with Casey and Milgokey. We were all going to meet for drinks after; but everyone was exhausted since…
Ellen- Many were in line at about 8am. I was there at 9:30.
And the sun shown and it was actually a beautiful day (it has been everytime Danny comes to sing in Milgokey- Homecoming, AI tour, Grafton, today. Kind of uncanny.
Casey used to work with Danny at Cousins! She should share her recollections here
SPECIAL REQUEST FROM DANNY GOKEY via jan!
Danny asked all Iheart DG folks to go out to ITUNES and rate and review MBD! He said there’s been negative reviews and ratings posted by creepers (my words) and he needs our help to push those comments down and bring up the ratings. Please help!
Toni and I just got back to the hotel. I’m sure you all heard that Danny ROCKED Turner Hall! We’ll post a recap soon, but first we need to throw off our boots, pour a glass of wine and collapse.
Hugs to you all, Our Danny had an amazing homecoming, today! Jan
That’s great that you met them too. I didn’t know that Casey had worked with Danny. That’s so Kool……
Hi Pam!
Glad you had a great time tonight at the concert! Did Danny talk much between songs? I was just wondering what’s in his head these days. He has to be just so happy.
I’m going to sign off for tonight. I wish you all pleasant Danny dreams!
Good Night Ellen…. Sweet Danny Dreams…..
It would be really neat to hear Casey’s recollections.
Hi everyone – can wait to read all the recaps coming!
Ellen in answer to did Danny meet/greet after the concert, the answer is no. When the boys came out to get their instruments, Gregg told me he thought Danny would come out and sign CD and meet us. So I waited by the entrance door to where he entered to the stage and exited. A small group gathered for the same thing.
I saw Ivan talking to a fan, and I walked over and asked about Danny coming out. He said not tonight because he needs to rest because of being on AI tomorrow.
So I got the feeling that he often does meet fans afterwards but didn’t this night because of wanting to rest up for the big night.
And maybe I could have seen him if I had followed the crowd of
maybe 25 fans who rushed for the exit after talking to one of the nightclub dj’a, but after talking to Ivan I just felt so sorry for Danny I didn’t follow them outside to find Danny.
Although I was really no better than them, and I understand they wanted to connect with Danny, I regretted that I didn’t get to hug him and tell him that I loved him and that I’m praying for him.
I was one of the selfish ones hollering “more songs.” And he did sing MBDAAOM again.
So I think when you go to Bushwhackers in Oregon (I think that was the name of the club) I believe he may come out afterwards at least I hope he does so you can get a hug.

Josie, it was so surreal! Danny talked about loving Milwaukee and feeling comfortable. He sure looked it.
Amy, he really didn’t talk a lot actually; I think they were trying to keep it moving a long. His little talk to Megan, was almost as long as anything else he said.
But he def. looked and acted like a rock (country!) star and the band looked good too. Brandon and Ivan talked to fans at stage after and took some pictures with them too; sweet guys.
Vickie, it is always so fun to finally meet people in the flesh! I forgot Ashley, who was briefly here that we hooked up with Cherie ; they drove together.
There should be a few recaps tomorrow
Goodnite all, must try and get some rest!

Vid from Deb with Megan.
“Danny is like a rare piece of jewelry that is priceless.” GG I don’t know if you made that up but it is so apt for Danny. Love that phrase.
Twitter: pjgvet
She sounds pretty overcome, but you have to remember Danny is clutching her hand down at her level and talking and singing to her.
Ok, good night for good!

Jan glad you had such a good time. Looking forward to your recap.
This is probably dumb, but could you post the ITunes Danny site, I always order through Amazon.
Good Night Pam~~~Thanks for filling us in on all the excitement of the night.
Good Night Jan~~~ Can’t wait to hear your recap.
I’m upset about the Itunes comments being negative. We’ll fix that.
I wonder if you need an account first to post a review. I went to ITunes and clicked on 847 reviews and I can’t access any where to post a review. If anyone knows please let me know so I can help. Thanks
Good Night Ihearts,
Time for me to close down the computer and take a shower then get to bed. I had no idea it was that late. Danny makes me lose track of time.
Marilyn,
If you don’t have iTunes installed in your computer, download from this site.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Once you have installed and open iTunes, go to iTunes store, the icon is on the left side of the window. Look for Danny’s Album icon, click it.
It will open Danny’s Album site. You can write a review from there.
I hope this helps.
Hey guys! it’s Ashley. I was at the show in Milwaukee with Cherie. It was my first show and it was amazing! I was right against the stage and Cherie was next to me and then Meghan. I saw firsthand what Danny did for her during Back To One. It brought tears to my eyes. He is an incredibly amazing man. I love him!

I just posted a review of the album on iTunes. marilyn, I think you do have to have an account, but I recall it as being easy. If you have already downloaded iTunes (when you first go to the site, there’s a button for that), just search for his album and when you see it, click on it. You should see a place to click on stars to rate it, and then go down the page a bit until you see Customer Reviews, and click on Write a Review.

marilyn – are you still here?? honestly, that just came up inside of me… after watching that video of Sophia’s sister crying, I was so so touched and so sad as well, knowing Danny and his story, which is very sincere and deeply got us from the beginning of all of this, I said to myself, Danny is a one of a kind person and we are so lucky that we became fans of his cuz for once, we became a part of this “thrill ride” of his life, that is so meaningful and forever be engraved to our hearts…
I said to myself, After all of this success on his musical journey, Danny can easily say that he is happy and is moving on towards his successful future but for me, deep inside Danny’s heart, I know that he is still remembering her, cuz shes the reason of Danny’s success… I know yall understand me why Im being so emotional right now cuz Im so deeply touched by Danny’s story. Looking back a year and a half after his wife died, Its so sad to think that with all of this success, the one that he loved for so many years is not with him… This is why we fans, together with his loved ones, friends, fill those gaps, filling them with happy memories… As Danny step on to his next chapter of his life, he shares his success with us and we share our lives with him… <3
aawww GG Your post is so beautifully put and so heart felt. Maybe that is why Danny chooses to share his life with his fans so much. We are gap fillers. He does share his success with us.
I love that phrase so much because it so accurately defines who Danny is. “A rare piece of jewelry that is priceless.”
Thank you GG for sharing your heart with us.
It’s midnight here and I’m sure you all are in bed. I’m going to see if I can review My Best Days. Thanks for the suggestions Ana and Josie. I will try your suggestions.
Gokeyguy,
Beautiful post.
On IDF, an Adam fan posted this in Danny’s forum:
Just stopping by to wish Danny and you guys a happy and robust first week of sales, and hopefully more! I’m very glad to hear that his estimated sales have increased (and I’ll think it’ll be as high or higher than the latest predictions). I think debuting at this time of year and with his single moving up the charts quickly, he can sell consistently well throughout the year. Most importantly is the quality of the album and all signs point to a great debut effort that was worth the wait. original.gif
I’d like to think that when one Idol does well, it helps the entire franchise look better in the eyes of the industry and Danny deserves success just as much as any other Idol. Congrats.

iTunes doesn’t let me review Danny’s album because I don’t have a credit card or account US based.
I’m thrilled for Meaghan. I still remember when she thought she would never meet Danny. We gotta dream. Sometimes dreams become reality.
Ihearties that went to concerts, I want recaps!
Nina, do you want me to post your recap without the video or do you want me to wait to see if we can find a way of uploading it?
Erika,
There is a work around for non-US resident to create an account in iTunes without having a US credit card. Please check link below.

This what I did to create my account.
