GOKEYGUY, GOKEY, AND IHEARTIES!!!
Ok! Whew!!! How do I start this!! As most of you know, I was looking forward to this day when I would meet the “DANNY GOKEY” that we love so much. I believe this is Danny’s 2nd time to go to VA to do his promotional tour etc. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go to the first one (Woodbridge) because of travel issues so I really, really dreamt of this day. Of course, I first saw this news on IheartDG.com courtesy of Ms. Stephanie. I quickly searched this location and what do you know it’s just 30 mins away from my home LOL! Ya’ll know here that I hesitated once cuz of the travel issue again (isn’t it that crazy? Just 30 mins and I doubted? And ladies here travel great distances just to see him? Well, all is done and made some plans after that and it worked out with no hassles YAY!) About a few days or weeks later, steph6449 told me that she had an extra ticket to the concert and would be glad to give the extra to me. I was so freakin’ excited and planned ahead. That’s history now and here’s my real recap LOL!
Concert: Danny Gokey at CMA Music Festival (June 10-13)

NASHVILLE –Trace Adkins, Easton Corbin, Danny Gokey, Randy Houser, Justin Moore, Blake Shelton, and Josh Turner join the star-packed artist lineup for the Nightly Concerts at LP Field during 2010 CMA Music Festival and Fan Fair®, which will be held Thursday through Sunday, June 10-13 in Nashville, Tenn.
Previously announced performers include Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler, Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and Zac Brown Band. All of the announced artists will perform during the Nightly Concerts at LP Field.
A long-time supporter of the event, Adkins will be making his 10th consecutive appearance as a part of the Nightly Concerts appearing every year since the event moved to Downtown Nashville in 2001. Adkins has received five CMA Award nominations including two in 2009 for Single and Music Video of the Year, both for “You’re Gonna Miss This.”
Both Corbin and “American Idol” season eight finalist Gokey have made strong impressions on Country Music fans this year, and they will soon become a part of the CMA Music Festival legacy when they make their debuts at the 2010 event.

Now in its 39th year, CMA Music Festival began as Fan Fair in 1972 as a unique celebration of the relationship between Country Music artists and their fans in the heart of Music City USA. More than 2,000 Country acts, from the legends and superstars to today’s rising hit makers and hopefuls, have lent their time and talent to the event over the decades.
The artists participate for free, and in appreciation, CMA donates half the net proceeds of the Festival to support music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools through the Keep the Music Playing program. To date, $3.3 million has been donated to purchase musical instruments and supplies, providing thousands of Metro Nashville Public Schools students with the resources and opportunities they could not have afforded on their own, and giving many of them a strong reason to remain in school.

So I have a friend that bought tickets to see Danny at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach Friday and now can’t go. He’s requesting that we “sell” the tickets with a $40 donation to Sophia’s Heart. Face value of tickets are $17.50 and with fees, adds up to $30 a ticket. This will save you money and help SHF.

CMT: CMT Insider Interview: Danny Gokey
Danny Gokey’s voice and story are familiar to the millions of faithful viewers of American Idol, and he has followed through on the media exposure by releasing My Best Days, his debut album on 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville.
The former truck driver finished third in the eighth season of the talent competition, and fans learned he had already traveled a difficult road. A month before his American Idol audition, his wife, Sophia, died unexpectedly following what was considered a routine heart surgery.
In a recent interview with CMT Insider, the Milwaukee native talks about his new album and how Randy Travis convinced him to pursue a country music career. Here’s part of the interview:

OnMilwaukee: Danny Gokey goes from singer to spokes-model

At an undisclosed location in Milwaukee, Danny Gokey was trying on numerous pairs of glasses this morning, trying out a series of poses as a still photographer snapped away at the singer.
That undisclosed business is to keep fans of the finalist from last year’s “American Idol” from getting in the way of day of shooting for Wisconsin Vision.
The 29-year-old Gokey recently signed a two-year deal to be the face of the Wisconsin-based company, and he’s in town this week for two days of shooting. Eyeglasses have been Gokey’s trademark since he started his run on last year’s eighth season of the Fox singing competition.
