Thanks so much for sharing the good news about the WXTU add Steph! I was getting ready to take them down off my radio pre-sets. Now, I can look forward to hearing Danny on the radio today, and will call to thank them for finally playing him!

Found this for the Sugarland show in (Cleveland?) Ohio June 5th. It lists Luke Bryan but no one else. Don’t know if other dates in June the following week have Luke + Danny.

Hi everyone.
Danny’s album is the highest on overall album charts, it’s been since last Wednesday/Thursday after Ryan mentioned him on Idol. It is currently #166 on the overall Itunes chart/#18 country. I definitely think some of the visitors last night on his site pre-ordered his album.

Anyone know where Danny may be today in the daytime? The band was tweeting about a 4 am pickup to go somewhere. Seems a little early just to get from Colorado to California for the evening KROG show. Maybe they have other stops?
Just noticed the entry now on the calendar for Danny to be at Barnes & Noble in LA on March 4th. Hmm. March 4th in LA, where have we heard that combination mentioned before.

OMG–they added Danny on XTU??? I went down there 2 weeks ago with cookies and a note– talked to a woman at the front desk for awhile. Of course, at the time, the music director was in Disney. Asked that they give the note to the program director instead. As 2 weeks have gone by and no MBD on the radio (despite Danny ads on the air and on the website) I did something a little OTT yesterday. I do not know if this was at all instrumental in adding Danny but I don’t care!!! I am a bit reluctant to say what I did as I look back and think it looks a little crazy.
I also had a coworker request him a couple of times (she is a longtime listener and also liked Danny last year).
It was very frustrating to me that he wasn’t on the station. There is obviously some pecking order in this industry that escapes me. That music director was getting me a little pissed off, I have to say. He was being more stubborn than me–didn’t think that was possible

I checked XTU’s website, under their category where you can search for each song played by hour. Not seeing him.
Just spoke to Lee Richards (she is on now). She went on and on about how much she loves him, but honestly does not know if he is on their play list. Told me to watch for him during the evening hours, as that is when they typically introduce new singles. Also, suggested that I speak with Razz (Mark Razz) who is on between 3-7. So, I will call then.
Too funny. She didn’t even know the public can search their site for what is being played 24/7. WTH? She is a sweetie though, I’ve spoken to her before.
So cute about you dropping off treats. It is something I have been contemplating to do a long time myself too.
They have got to add him soon.
Our station is playing Life is a Highway right now, by Rascal Flatts. They can’t touch Danny’s rendition.

i have to admit seems like this website team reads every email and try to reply to most of them. So it’s good… the music it’s in 4th place in the most requested songs and they already read 3 of my emails asking the song, they have to look for it
The time that Danny will be performing at Barnes and Nobles on March 2 will be at 7:30 pm, that is close to the time that the results show will come be on, on Fox, when Danny is rumored to performed.
Maybe he will tape his performance for the elimination show on March 4, or rush over there really quickly, after he through at Barnes and Noble?

I’m with Brandon Fraley on the sleep thing (referring to his recent tweet). The earlier I have to get up in the morning, the more restless my sleep is — I’m so worried about being able to get up and not sleeping through the alarm(s) (which is easy to do when you are hearing impaired) that I don’t think I reach a deep sleep.

Speaking of which, DANNY, if you are still wanting a book recommendation, why don’t you suffer along with me while I re-read William Golding’s “Lord of the Flies”? I have to read it so I can discuss it with my high school freshman in the Imprint Program. I read it in high school and have no desire to read it again. That book singlehandedly convinced me not to major in English in college. Of course, now I’ll be reading it as an adult. It will be interesting to see whether I react any differently this time around.
Does anyone know what spot My Best Days Are Ahead of Me is on Billboard’s top country songs this week. It was #39 last week and the prediction was it would stay in the top 40. Billboard only shows the top 30. Also, does anyone know if they use mediabase or Billboard for the top 40 country countdowns on the weekends?

Hey everyone. FOGS, do you think they could be taping the AI appearance today? I can’t remember if they always have a live audience when they do that, or not. There had to be some reason for them to have to leave from wherever they were at the crack of dawn, and Def and Ivan just tweeted that they’re in SoCal. I hope they do tape it, then I won’t have to be nervous! Not that Danny isn’t consistent in live performance, because he is, but this is certainly a big stakes one.
And that was another problem. I didn’t like many of the books that would have been required reading.
I did have a course in college that I enjoyed — French literature in translation. I really like all the required reading — Voltaire, Moliere, de Balzac (sp?), etc.
Bosman, have you ever read “Silas Marner” by George Elliot? Or about Natty Bumppo by James Fenimore Cooper? I think it’s the “Leatherstocking Tales”?
Ellen, I nurture my rebel bone. I had major problems with my professors when they insisted on literary criticisms as they see it fit. Instead of applauding my original take on matters, they tried to dumb me down. But I am a tough nut to crack.
I wanted to study civil engineering, but finding jobs with a major in English is easier, so…

bosman, i liked Shelby and the police man too, it took me by surprise when they said those two were out.
Meant to mention this yesterday. My workplace has received death threats for today at noon — an hour from now. (Yes, I know? Who gives out the day and hour they intend to act? But this guy seems nuts — he thinks the Ryal Canadian Mounted Police stole something from him.)
So I’m looking out my window a lot, and hoping that a lot of cars stay parked at on the side street outside my office. There are no barriers — it would be easy to drive a truck bomb up onto the grass next to the building.
The police have increased their patrols around the area. (A side “benefit” has been that unsuspecting motorists are getting more traffic tickets.) They apparently can’t arrest the guy until he acts (which I understand), but my coworker joked that the taxpayers are subsidizing this guy’s “free speech,” in the form of increased police patrols.

I am really saddened about Shelby. I think she had such a unique voice. She really could have brought something else to the competition. Of the people who are through I liked Aaron and Lee. Aaron is like Kris and Danny put together and made 10 years younger. Quite impressive, but we’ll see.

I saw that some of you all were talking about last night’s AI show. I had a bit of a pang when they showed the scene of each of them dancing in front of the logo. I kind of felt like, who are these interlopers, I don’t want them, I want the real ones back.
Eh, they all seem nice enough I guess. I don’t feel I can get a sense of them with just a snippet here and there though, so I still really have no notable positive or negative feelings about any of them as compared to the others.
I saw a bunch of twitter stuff about Andrew Garcia looking and sounding like Danny, I don’t get that. He wears glasses, otherwise I don’t see a resemblance, and don’t hear a resemblance. His scene with Ryan when he called his dad was really sweet.
Yes, Claudia. We never had ANY security at my workplace before an idiot deliberately drove his truck into one of the courthouses, then started fires in the basement of the building, in the jury room. Luckily, THAT guy did his damage at night, so no one was in the courthouse at the time and no one got hurt. That guy is in prison now. But he caused a lot of damage and disrupted the functioning of the courthouse. All the judges were scattered in other buildings until repairs could be made.
we’ve had several bomb scares before, but luckily all false alarms.

AI9: I like Aaron and Katie. But I worry because they are so young. Although they can go far on AI, I’ve notice that the young ones don’t seem to do well in the music business, post-Idol. Also like Andrew and Casey, and Lily and Crystal. But I don’t get the Danny Gokey comparisons. No one on AI9 reminds me of Danny. I think Andrew is a soulful singer like Danny, but he neither looks nor sounds like Danny.

I like Lee, Andrew, Casey and Aaron. I know they are pushing for the girls, but I don’t see it happening. I’ve always thought that changing demographics were going to be the downfall of AI. Women love to vote. Men don’t get it!
Each show, I had to beg my husband to vote for Danny. He throw down like ten votes, and think he was a mega hero. Would look at me like a nutcase, as I repeatedly voted for an admittedly insane period of time. When he dared to question my sanity, I’d just say… “What’s your point?”
So sorry about leading you astray Marjie. I suppose we’ll have to be patient a little longer. I am also wondering about all this brew-ha-ha about some special announcement coming at 3:45 by Mark Razz (DJ in Philly – for those of you that are curious). Okay, MAGAZINE ALERT! Danny has a 2-page spread in the new Country Weekly magazine just out. Tim McGraw & Faith Hill cover. Title of article is “Deep Freeze Day” and Danny talks about how cold it was in that warehouse the day they shot his video for MBD, with scenes from the shoot.

Late lunch. Still here. My coworkers are pretty intelligent, and the powers that be are pretty good about letting the rand and file know about threats. Guess they figure there will be that many more eyes on the lookout . . .
I don’t remember Shelby, Shirl. I will have to keep my eyes and ears open for her. I do remember a bluesy singer whose audition Simon didn’t like — not because she wasn’t good, but because blues (or was it jazz?) doesn’t sell well. If that is her, then I liked her too.
I’m going to be at work late tonight, so I’m not sure I’ll get back to the store until tomorrow. If Danny is in the country edition of People, do you want me to pick up an extra copy? Or can you get it in Florida?
Claudia, I’m not too worried about Thaddeus. He’s only 16 and still has time to make it in the music industry. (Although he seemed emotionally fragile, which is worrying. Maybe it’s just as well that he got sent home. Not his time yet.) But Angela — to try three times and not make it has to sting bad. I though she handled herself well. I hope life treats her better in the future.

Interesting news to report. I registered to be what my local station calls VIP listeners. Today, they sent me this huge email from RCA telling me all about Danny. Nice photo, notice about his album release, instructions on how to purchase, and information about him touring with Sugarland. References DGO.

Hey Gokey Guy and Danip, whenever I get fretting over Danny’s chart # or single sales, etc. But husband just shakes his head and says “his album hasn’t even been released, yet!” And then I try to act cool and wander away…..

Hopefully sales for Danny’s album will be at least okay. One good thing is that he has almost always been on the overall Top 200 albums chart on Itunes for over a week now. He fell of that chart a few times, but made his way back up there.
The highest he has been ranked on that chart is 101, and that was last Wednesday. Today he was ranked as high as #156 which was the highest he’s been since last Wednesday. Now he’s ranked #189 on the overall album chart, but I think he will go up again.
On Amazon his album sales have went up some. Last time I checked over there this evening, he was ranked #13 on the Country albums chart and and #84 on the Bestelling items in music chart.
At this point, I don’t know how many albums he is going to sell especially since he still hasn’t gotten any national promotion, but I hope everything works out at least okay for him.
At least we know he’s selling something because for the most part he’s been on the Top 200 albums on Itunes list for the past week. And he moved up on Amazon some.
I hope things work out for Danny regarding albums sales. I do think that he if he gets a decent amount/good amount of album sales, that could convince more stations to add/play his song.

You can compare Danny’s possible sales with Kradison or anyone else you want to. Even though he’s in a different genre of music from them.

The number in the very front is the number that the artists was ranked on The Billboard Top 200 albums. For example, Carrie Underwood’s album “Play On” was ranked #29 on Billboard the week these figures came out.
And the second number shown is the amount of albums sold that week. For example, Carrie sold, 18,132 albums the week these sales figures came out.
I am not as concerned where Danny will rank on the Billboard Top 200 albums, as I am about where he will rank on the country albums chart.
I would like to see him debut into the Top 10 country albums chart on Billboard. But that could be difficult to do, depending on how much national exposure he gets and how many fans he has/people that buy his album.

I think that the goal is for Danny to sell as many albums as he can and have nice steady sales. I don’t know if he will go gold, (500,000) copies sold.
I don’t think Kris will go gold anytime soon, because of his low album sales. And Danny might sell less albums than Kris. Adam is the only one that has gone gold, and might be the only one from this season who achieves that status.
But I think that Danny’s label might be happy if he has a decent amount of album sales for a new Country artist his first week.
And if sales are steady for as long as they can be. Even if he doesn’t go Gold. There are quite a few Country acts whose albums haven’t gone Gold,but I think their labels are happy with them. So if Danny doesn’t go Gold, his label could still be happy with his sales depending on how he does.
Hi all – Just checking in tonight. There has been a promo running on our country radio station FM106 for Danny’s concert in Milw on March 6, with Danny himself talking about it. Nice it is being promoted, but I think RCA (who is sponsoring it) is making a big mistake by not securing a larger place. I feel things are going to be a bit crazy that day!! Hope everyone is safe with all the downtown traffic, etc.
Looking forward to seeing Danny’s album in the stores. Seems like it’s been forever!!

I wish single sales were higher too- perhaps a lot of his fans are not online/digital downloaders. I know I have done my part with single sales! But his album isn’t out yet and still no national PR.

Country albums typically don’t sell as many albums worldwide as other genres of music do like pop albums. So that probably is one reason why Country album/single sales don’t have to be as high as pop album sales to be considered successful.
And I think that in general albums like pop artists sell more than Country artists do, unless the country artist is really popular like Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum.
I think that if Danny sold less albums than Kris, his label might be happy enough with his sales.

I mean he was polished as a country/pop like Carrie, Taylor and Lady Antebellum to attract fans outside the Country genre… I think thats a big obligation for Danny to uphold but thank God hes only a new Country artist so he can not think about that for now.

I think that Danny’s label considers him a modern/country soul artist, like the type of album he said he was putting out, a modern/country soul album.
I think that they want Danny to sing country music with more of a soul edge to it, like we see in some of the songs on his album like “Be Somebody.”
I don’t know if Danny will really crossover to pop, but I think that he could do fine as country artist with a bit of soul edge.

FOGs- oh yes I forgot about that one. I remember Danny said in one interview that he wants to do an album that is marketable, seems like a new Country that does not exclude any genres. For me, Danny and his producer was successful in fulfilling that major task cuz its not all Country, any musical taste is IN that album…

FOGS, actually if you took away the fact that Kris won American Idol, his album sales aren’t that bad – for a new artist. But because he won AI, the expectations, standards are always higher. Unfortunately, Kris continues to have the weakest selling album of the winners.
Danny did not win AI, and was not in the finals. The good news for Danny is that he has continued to see spikes in his album sales. Definitely a good sign considering that the album is not even in released and they have not started the national promotion.
And if Danny is already see more traffic because of the AI 9 auditions shows, I can imagine what’ going to happen when they go live. I can also imagine what his sales are going to be like – once all the above takes place – as well as his tour with Sugarland.
Record sales are one way of generating revenue for the record label. Another is live shows. And Danny has proven that playing to live audiences is one of his strengths. And it sounds like the response has been very good so far.

GG- I think that his label wants this to be an intimate celebratory feel concert also, not a big arena style.
Turner Hall is a very, very (1800′s) beautiful old hall and it usually has “special” acts there. The manager told me that artists LOVE to play there, so I think it is somewhat of a Milwaukee honor to play there.
I listened to the Sugarland album and I really like it. Some of it is too twangy for me (STeve Earle!) but some songs I love- Joey, Love, Already gone, and especially Keep You.
I think Danny will be in good hands touring with them and can probably improve stage presence also! Getting excited for him to tour with them!

Surf, whether it was AI Live or the radio concerts, Danny IS in his element when he sings live. Even MJ walked away going “wow, what just happened”. He has a stage presence/charisma/what-ever it-is that just hooks the audience in. I’ve seen it on AI Live, in Grafton, Madison and most lately at Nolas in NY. I even think if Allison wasn’t on Idol that her sales would be considered that bad for a new artist either.
But I do think there is a lot of expectations for Kris as the winner and to a lesser degree some for people like Allison and Danny who didn’t win but who are expected to sell more than other new artists because of their exposure on Idol.
But at least expectations for Danny and Allison aren’t as high as they are for the winner and runner-up.
I am glad to see some spikes in Danny’s album sales, and to see traffic increase on his site. Right now there are currently 115 people on his site.
In the past traffic hasn’t been that high on his site. Plus most of the time traffic goes up on his site, his sales go up at least a little on Itunes.
I think that him touring with Sugarland might help him with album sales too.

I love a lot of Sugarland songs, including “Love”, “Joey”, “Settlin”, and “All I want to do.” I also really like “Keep You”. I am surprised that “Keep You” didn’t do better on radio than it did.
I think that the label had cancelled the release of that song as a single even though I believe it was sent out to radio and there is a video out for it.

Milgokey fan – OMG! its really like Danny’s version. So that is a “revival” song on Danny’s album? I hope that the only ones though and the rest is all original and Danny’s firsts… Danny’s version is more playful though and fits my taste for being playful YAY!

I did see Gary in concert once though, only because he was opening for Keith Urban. Gary is a good singer and put on a pretty good show, but personally, for me, his voice is one of those I can’t tolerate much.

Carole – I don’t think I could bring myself to camp out overnight, even for Danny! I’m sure the Milwaukee show will be absolutely nuts though. I emailed one of the FM106 DJ’s to see if she new why they picked such a small venue for his hometown. She said that was what was available for that night. Steph, I was wondering the same thing tonight, whether any of the songs had been recorded before. I seem to remember someone claiming, I think at mj’s, that Tiny Life had been written 5 years ago but I haven’t been able to track anything down to confirm that.

At least Jim has Danny on his top 10 list, even if he disses Danny. I think Jim might have a secret love of Danny, but denies himself by pretending he is too cool for Danny
Not surprised Kris is on there. Jim is a big fangirl of Kris’s. I like Kris but don’t think his tweets are very clever or interesting. Surprised Allison and Adam were not on there (or did I miss them).

FOGS, I remember that at mj’s, and did see the source she was citing. It was just someone who said in a comment at another site that they had seen Jeffrey Steele singing the song himself somewhere at a club. I’ve never seen that anyone else has recorded it or even performed it. Which is interesting. Made me wonder why not, since Jeffrey is an in-demand songwriter.
Seems doubtful no one else would have liked it, so I wondered if either it didn’t hit the right match with someone who felt they could perform a song like that well. Or if Jeffrey held it back until he was ready for someone else to record it, maybe if it was something he wrote soon after the accident with his son?

I continue to be annoyed by Jim and him constantly insulting Danny. I remember in the summer time, how he asked Danny multiple times to follow him.
Heck I even retweeted one of his tweets to Danny where he asked him to follow him. Because he had said some nice stuff about Danny and I thought he had changed his ways regarding Danny. But he continues to put Danny down. I am glad that Danny isn’t following him on Twitter.
Steph, I just found where Jeffrey Steele’s son actually passed away in January 2007 so the song must have been written no more than 3 years ago. Whether anyone else has recorded it, I don’t know. But, that is surprising since it is a very good song. I’m glad Danny will be able to put his own touch on it and make it shine.
Milgokey fan, Yes, I agree, there are SOoo many people flying in -it just seems weird to pick somewhere that doesn`t hold a vast ammount of people, even `though it sounds a beautiful place-very odd! Btw, multiple personalities are the order of the day on Twitter, one has `disappeared` closed her account I presume, but GS is still there and `Dom`-all too confusing for me, I`m afraid!

if I remember right, didn’t Danny or someone else say that a writer/co-writer of IWNSG met a relative at the funeral of Jeffrey’s son Alex, who made a comment about not saying goodbye that helped inspire the lyrics to IWNSG?
I’m not sure who wrote IWNSG, there was a theory at TWOP that it may have been two writers who have done songs for Toby Keith and others. forget the names, but it was a man and woman (chuck someone and lara somebody?).
PJGVET, I actually stopped following Kris a while back. I never found him all that interesting. It’s ironic that Cantinello was lukewarm to Adam.
But I also agree that Cantinello may have indirectly given Danny some free publicity. I do think it will arouse people’s curiosity and give Danny more followers. And Danny may get some album sales out of it.
I would not be surprised at all if Cantinello tried to get an interview with Danny – but Danny (or his management) turned him down – and now @JAMBAJIM is throwing a hissy fit.
Steph, I think you are right. Danny did say something about a speaker at a funeral using the line IWNSG. Don’t remember the details. You are doing way better at that than I.
As for Tiny Life, that blog is certainly dated 2005 so I’m not sure what the story is on that one. Thanks for doing the research. You are such a sleuth, Sherlock!

Surf- Interesting theory! I can see Jamba Jim really wanting to do an interview with Danny. He could think of all kinds of ways to poke fun. And you know what, I actually think Danny could hold his own and give as good as he got. But I think he would need more distance from the whole Ai experience first, and not so close to the time of album release. I would actually be kind of interested to see what kind of interview it would be. Because I think that deep down Jim C likes Danny but is just a very weak personality who can’t help himself going for a cheap laugh and will also not let himself be seen as anything less than “cool”.
Whereas, I hope Danny would NEVER do another interview with Slezak/EW. I think they are more truly evil than Jim C is.
I hope we get some fan pics/vids from that concert tonight! I’m surprised we haven’t heard any tweets about it, although I guess they are only an hour in.

I try not to pay attention to Jim c anymore b/c I think that he’s basically a follower of the people who hate on Danny. I will admit that whenever I do check out his “Tweet beats” or whatever that they can be quite funny. I’ll give him that, at least. Other than that, he’s just to the point of beyond annoying.
