Good Morning all!!
Glad to hear your parents arrived home safely Rachel – loved the fact your Aunt sang ‘Happy Birthday’to you down the phone and your Uncle clapped!!
It’s great that Kris is touring – I wish him success in what he does and he obviously has a lot of international fans!
I expect Adam will be ‘big’ over here. He will ‘hold his own’ on his promo’ tour of the UK. I know somebody who is a huge fan of the UK now defunct band ‘The Darkness’ and she loves Adam. This person is what is known over here as a ‘Goth’
Erika – those immigration laws suck!! I really hope you can sort out something…..
Interesting to read all your comments on the clips of Danny’s new cd. I really love’Get Away’ – as I said last night – I can really see that being a summer hit!!
there is also ‘Crazy Not To’ which sounds as though it has great potential!
‘Tiny Life’ & IWNSG are my favourite ballards – oh how can you choose!!
Back to work – maybe catch you all later!!
Hello Dannyland! I gave in and listened to all of the short clips on Danny’s album at Amazon UK (Pam, I wasn’t as strong as you..) I think the album is going to be great and consists of a terrific selection of ballads and uptempo songs. Also the material has definitely more than one possible hit song. Even though the clips are short, but I think that “Crazy Not To” has also hit potential written all over it. I usually enjoy powerful ballads most, but Danny’s uptempo songs are really good and show his strong vocals very well.
Danny’s album is definitely country, but with a very soulful touch. I’m very happy with what I heard and as I love modern country there isn’t much more I could ask for at the moment!
It’s fantastic that Danny is going to tour with Sugarland and as I said yesterday those two are a great match.
Latrece, missing talking with you and hope that you are well.
Erika, stay strong and things will turn out positive. I have been in the same situation when years and years ago I was ready to settle in England for good, but as Finland wasn’t at the time a member of the European Union I couldn’t stay and had leave after living there for nearly six years. I strongly believe that things happen for a reason and something good always come from even the decisions that we are forced to make.
Rachel, belated Happy Birthday Wishes! Enjoy being 30 years old, for life does get better when you get older.
Have a happy day Danny fans and I hope to be able to talk to you later on today!
Goodmorning/evening International fans!!! Julie thank you for that beautiful picture of Danny and the sweet baby, he is a natural with children.
Hello Hannele I hope you are enjoying this day at work, I hope the weather is not too bad!! bye have a wonderful day!!

Hi!
Julie, I love that picture of Danny with the baby. First time I saw it I melted – Danny is so natural with kids. Makes me hope has lots of his own!
Owlki Sorry to hear about your situation in Australia. I wish you the best.
Think I saw that Adam’s For Your Entertainment went gold. That’s great for him. I suspect Adam will be headlining his own tour at some point.
Mornin’ ladies!
Listened to the studio snippets last night. The hottest track IMO is Get Away – that studio version – red hot. A video for that one would allow Danny to FULLY bring the sexy on wihtout being preachy and without a need to be explicit. For that one Danny could be raunchy on a ranch. Just sayin.’
My guess is that it also jibes well with GUYS and – amazingly for an uptempo song – It fully showcases his vocals. I think it could be a crossover hit – I did not sense much country instrumentation there.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
I will miss Danny’s radio spot today. Can’t get the feed at work. Hopefully his visits will be posted.
Sounds like the guys don’t have use of tbe private jet anymore. Back to Asoutgwest airlines according to their tweets. Maybe they’ll get to use it again soon – they were clearly enjoying it!
I watched Idol last night. Kept wanting Danny to show up on stage! It’s not the same without him! My fav was Andrew Garcia. Hope he goes far. The last two girls were good too. I have a feeling the producers want this to be a girls year.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
What? That airlines I was referring to was Southwest! My Iphone loves to twist my words!
I’ll stop by later. I have to get ready for work.
Hello! Good morning to all! Hi Latrece, may I know what is that SUGARLAND that Danny has a major tour concert? Thank you very much and GOD Bless! Oohh just voted Danny!
Hello Cheryl! I agree with you! Andrew Garcia was a good singer it reminds me of Danny and Didi too the waitress, she’s great! They’re my bets! Hope they will be included in the top 12! I wish Danny will be one of their guests, soon! Thanks!
goodmorning to all u ihearts, wow danny touring w/sugarland,thats great.i have not been on since yesterday morning,i didnt hear the snippets of dannys songs, anybody know where i can listen to them?i gotta get my mind off all the negative stuff going on in my life right now and focus on the posotive.i have been missing entirely to much danny stuff.thanks 4 keeping us updated on everything,u guys rock.have a nice day everyone, hopefully i will check back by later.
Kim – look on the front of this site on the HOME page and Erika posted a link to the AMAZON UK site where you can listen to the clips. I am rubbish at cutting & pasting links! Hope you get to listen to them – they will cheer you up!
Whoops! Meant to say Hi Latrece – glad you liked the photo
Yes Cheryl – can you imagine when Danny has his own family – am sure he will shout it from the roof tops!!
Hannele – yes ‘Crazy Not To’ is certainly a song I am looking forward to hearing in full!!
bosman – yes ‘Get Away’ is definitely a ‘rockier song and reminds me of Kid Rock’s anthem ‘All Summer Long’!!
Danny’s My Best Days Are Ahead of Me is #38 today on mediabase. Luke Bryan’s Rain song moved ahead of him again, less spins but higher audience impression.
Saw Danny’s music video for MBDAAOM on GAC for the first time yesterday afternoon. I have been snowed in all week (no work) with 33.8 inches over the weekend and now it is snowing with blizzard conditions with another 12-15 inches expected. Pretty crazy weather for Maryland – we usually don’t get much snow during the winter. Glad to see GAC is playing his music video.

Hi everyone.
Danny’s album is still #13 on the Country albums chart on Itunes but fell some on the overall chart and is now #140 up there. But it’s nice to see him still staying in the Top 200 overall albums list on Itunes.

Trish, Danny seems to be confirming he will be on AI9 but no date.

Hi everyone, had to pop in a bit early for me! wanted to say Hi to Julie, so nice to have someone here who lives just along the coast from me!! Blizzards and sunshine today- Bosman, `great minds`, I just love Get Away! I listened to the snippets from the album and, out of all the uptempo songs THAT was the one, for me-very distinctive, great beat and really suits Danny-I felt that Like That`s A Bad Thing, is the track that sounds `country`-Tiny Life sounds different, because of the instrumentals, but Danny`s voice is powerful enough to shine through-It is one of my favourites, I play it all the time, If I feel low, it`s Tiny Life that lifts me up- IWNSG is in a league of it`s own, sounds good liveand on the album-I had a gut feeling from day 1 that THIS could be the biggest selling single from the album-it`s superb- Be Somebody I think sounds even better, and Life On Ya also- We`re used to hearing these songs with Danny`s band, who are awesome- so the studio versions are bound to sound different-Did anyone else find it strange to hear drums? I realised that we hadn`t actually heard any of the songs with drums before-Anyway-it`s going to be HUGE and congrats to Danny on the Tour, hope they soon announce the actual dates-remember, we international fans want lots of videos and photos-!!
Good morning! Just checking in before i get ready for school.
I’ll be back later to see if any of the interviews from today are posted. have a good day, y’all!
Hey Carole!! Yes we have blizzards & sunshine here!! Very strange weather for us
although nothing compared to the snow in the USA

Glad you listened to the clips – I am very excited for the album and know I will be wearing my copy out already
I am due to leave work in half an hour – nearly 4.30pm here.
I hope you are feeling stronger now Carole?
Jan -hope your ankle is feeling better now?
Maybe catch you all tonight! See ya!!
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Carole I listened to the snippets and my first reaction was that they sound so different from when Danny sings them live with his bandmates. the studio versions have a great deal of country twang to them.
Steph pointed out that it is hard to tell by just snippets if you like the songs or not. I agree with her. After I listened to them a few times over, It wasn’t even paying attention to the instrumentals as much as Danny’s voice – which of course is amazing. I do still wish that the instrumentals were Danny’s bandmates – I love the simple accoustics. I know I will love the album too, but those guys are great musicians and I wish they could have been on the album. Maybe the next one!
I think I am really going to like Crazy Not To. My guess is it’s a song about meeting a girl and the potential for a relationship. I can’t wait to hear the whole song! Especially the part about the kiss!
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Hi leah! I do really like Andrew Garcia and have a feeling he will go far in the competition. I never really was into “Straight Up” by Paula, but Andrew really made it sound relevant and cool. I think there are a number of girls who will do well. Hard for me to pick out just one right now, but I did like the last two girls.
Itunes updates:
My Best Days – album preorder – #13 Top Country albums and also in the new and noteworthy section on front page. Would love to see it make the top 10.
My Best Days Are Ahead of Me – music video – #30 Top Country music videos
My Best Days Are Ahead of Me – single – #156 Top Country Songs
I hope that Danny’s label gives an extra push to radio over the next few weeks – the higher his song is on the charts the better for album sales (currently sitting at #38).
Cheryl – I also like the song “Crazy Not To”. Although I love Danny’s inspirational songs I wanted some loves songs and it looks like we will get some on his album. I am one who loves the instrumentals and prefers the studio versions to the acoustic. I listened ot the snippets and know I am going to love this album.

Anyhow, just wanted to say that it’s great that so many of you like “Crazy Not To”. Cheryl, I can’t wait to hear how that kiss part of the song proceeds..
It’s going to be wonderful and exciting to follow Danny’s career. The first album already sounds so mature and there is no question about Danny being on his way to stardom.
Take care and hope the weather gets a bit better over is US and UK. In the Southern Finland we haven’t had this much snow for over 30 years.

Hi Everyone, Just listened to the snippets of all the songs on Danny’s album and I have to agree I’m going to love this album!! I love that every song is different!! I usually don’t like every song on an album but I definitely will on this one!! Danny said he was going to make great music and he’s kept that promise!! Can’t wait until we find out his tour dates with Sugarland or if he’s doing the whole tour!! I’m sure he’ll let us know when he’s able to!!
Latrece, I loved that pic too with Danny and the baby!! It was adorable, I love seeing him with children!! He’s going to be a great father!!! Hi Julie, sorry I always miss you on here!!
Well, I’m going to vote again, maybe be back later, everyone have a great afternoon!! Be safe with all the snow!! Hugs
I take back what I said this morning about studio snippet of Get Away not having much country instrumentation. Obviously it does.
For the first time in my life I feel inadequate to give comments on a subject of interest to me. I do not know other country artists, I am simply not exposed to them, but I am dying to know, now that I heard studio snippets, how Danny’s album fares in the grand country scheme of things.
All of a sudden I feel totally stranded and ignorant as I know next to nothing about this genre.
But because I heart Danny so much, I decided to throw myself into the arms of country music.
Hi everyone! Strange day here in Northern Illinois…it started off with an earthquake early this morning! Just a 3 point 8, but it was enough to startle a lot of people awake. (Not me…I was apparently dead to the world.)
I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m doing a phone interview tomorrow with Scott MacIntyre. The opportunity just kind of fell into my lap.
Do you guys and gals have any suggestions of things to ask him?
Twitter: BLfolsom
Bosman, I relate to what you’re saying. I’ve never been a country fan, mostly because of past artists’ diction – yuck.
But…I must admit, with the advent of some of these new artists – Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Lady Attubellum (sp?), and of course Danny – I’m taking another look at this genre.

Hey Cindy I got your wonderful news!! that is awesome!
Does anyone knows what happen to the videos that toni promised she would upload?? I thought we were expecting more videos from Nola’s concert?? maybe all the videos were malfunctioned???
Twitter: Upsnodowns
billie and bosman I am not a country fan either. Danny is the only country artist I will follow forever! Lady Antebellum’s I Need You Now is a gorgeous song. But, I don’t like the other songs I have heard from them nearly as much. I think I like I Need You Now because it is LESS country and more crossover. I also like Charles Kelley’s voice on that song. He is not twangy at all and seems like he has some soulfulness like Danny! Sugarland’s song Keep You is beautiful too. But again I don’t really like their other songs. I tend to like those country songs that are more crossover and have some soul or rock flavor to them. I love Danny’s soulfulness and it comes across in his songs. For me the studio instrumentation throws it off a bit. It makes me realize that it’s possible that there are a number of country artists that I might like if I just listened to their voices without the twangy music in the background. So, I am going to start listening more carefully to some of the artists voices.
This is a question for any of the Ihearties who are country fans. I noticed that when Faith Hill sings Oh Holy Night she has no twang, but when she sings some of her country songs she sings with a twang. Also, Carrie Underwood sings with a twang but when she sang the National Anthem she did not have a twang. Also, when Darius Rucker sang with Hootie and the Blowfish, he did not have a twang, but now he sings his country songs with a twang. I’m very confused! Can someone explain why someone would sing with a twang sometimes and other times not? I guess I always assumed singing with a twang resulted from having a southern accent and so it comes naturally. I got to thinking about how people who have a British accent don’t sing with an accent so why would someone form the south sing with an accent?. I am now starting to think that many country singers just choose to use a twang maybe depending on the song?

@dannygokey I wz jus on Family Christian Bookstores website and front page was Pre-Buy Danny Gokey’s CD…Wow! God is so awesome! Congrats!
looked that last one up, sure enough. Looks like Danny is album of the month

There’s a little write up at that Family Christian site that goes with Danny’s CD sale. Interesting
http://www.familychristian.com/shop/product.asp?prodID=119761
Twitter: karatemom34
Hi Latrece, thankyou! I don’t know what happened to toni’s videos!! I thought she was having some issues with them!! We’ll have to ask her!!
That’s interesting steph. Maybe Danny’s label set that up especially since the website states that people who buy it will get an autographed CD. There is no way of telling how many sales he will get from this site, but hopefully he will get some that will go towards his total CD sales.
Also the “My Best Days” CD offered on the family website has 11 tracks instead of 10 including “The Coach”.
Also I saw that the Family Christian stores have over 300 stores nationwide. Maybe they will put something up in their stores about Danny’s album being album of the month.
Twitter: steph6449
FOGS, hadn’t noticed they have the bonus track too. Interesting.
Doesn’t hurt anyway that Danny is getting exposure there or at other sites in the Christian market. (The “River” station in Texas that was tweeting about Danny is a Christian station.) Not familiar with Family Christian stores but I see on their site they also have a lot of brick-and-mortar stores that could feature Danny’s CD when the physical CD is available next month.
Danny’s CD being on that site also could indicate that the CD is now out for preorder at other sites we haven’t heard mentioned yet.
.
Cheryl, I know what you mean about the variable twang factor by a lot of those artists
steph
I definitely don’t think it will hurt that, that site has Danny’s album available for pre-order. I hope that Danny gets as many CD sales as possible, whether it’s from Itunes, Amazon, Wal-mart, Target, his official site, Family Christian stores, etc… The more places featuring it the more sales he could get.
Also I see that his album is still hanging on at #13 on the Country albums chart on Itunes and #140 on the overall album Itunes chart.
hi all i feel like crap today, thank you all for the birthday wishes <3
Twitter: pjgvet
That Family Christian site is a little mixed up, lol.
Did you notice they have his album produced by Carrie Underwood!
The Track order listing is way different than what RCA has on his official site too- Tiny Life last. Wonder if they mixed that up too, or just don’t mean it to be in order.
Latrece, Cindy, I believe Toni is still having a friend help her with the vids.
Cheryl, I know! I thought the same thing about Darius Rucker.
So all those people who diss Danny because he’s not “genuine”; well, how is it genuine to purposely sing with a twang, esp if you don’t have one to start with like Darius. I wish more would sing without the twang or minimize it; like you said- British singers lose their accent when they sing.
You know I was as much of a country fan as you Cheryl, lol. But I know I will love all the songs because of his great voice. I don’t mind the fiddles or steel guitar at all in MBD or Its Only, so I’m thinking I will be ok with all of it!
lol, pjgvet.
I noticed that they said that Danny’s album was produced by Carrie Underwood too. I think they meant to say it was produced by Carrie Underwood’s producer Mark Bright.
Now that I listened to some 30 songs (almost all from the current country top 40) I have a splitting headache. Did not listen to each song entirely. I am not that generous yet.
There are some amazing voices. Gary Allan and Billy Currington are pretty distinct.
But landing back on Danny (pardon the pun), felt like coming home after a dangerous and wild adventure. Listening to many different voices tonight (its 21:50 here) just reinforced my love for the deep texture of Danny’s voice.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Pam I know I am going to love the cd too!
I hope nobody thinks I am trying to in any way criticize country music or Danny’s studio songs. MBDAAOM, It’s Only and IWNSG studio versions have a definate country sound to them and I love them! So I know I will feel the same about all of the songs.
What Danny has done for me is to open my eyes to some of the country artists that I would never have thought to listen to and I’m so happy about that. I was blown away by some of the performances at the CMA awards. I would have never seen them if not for Danny!
Twitter: steph6449
Pam, noticed that about the track order. I think that F.C. store just had it alphabetically?
.

Bosman LOL you are so funny about listening to the Top 40 country tunes. I’m with you, I know I couldn’t go through that whole list of songs and listen to them all the way through! Like you, I am not that generous yet.
There are times when I am waiting for Danny to do a radio interview and some of the music that is played while I wait is kind of hard for me to listen to! But I do it for Danny!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Hello everyone!
Cheryl, that is an interesting question about twang. I think I understand it and it’s kind of difficult to explain but I’ll try. Some background to put it in context: I don’t speak with a southern accent but my dad’s whole side of the family did. I grew up hearing a lot of country music but grew away from it and had not paid any attention to it for a long time until recently.
But I think that the “sound” of country music traditionally had to do with a kind of bonding, i.e. “these are my people”. It has traditionally represented a culture. The same thing is true of humor. Think about why Jeff Foxworthy goes into the redneck accent when he does his comedy routine. It is an instant shortcut to the point of view you that’s being represented. I know that when I hear my uncles start into the Good Ole Boy drawl, I start to smile because I know I am about to hear something funny.
But country music is about both a sound and a set of values. I think that the “sound” aspect of it is not the gatekeeper to keep non-southerners out the way it used to be, because the population has changed. That’s why Danny has an opportunity in country music, because his values are right smack dab in the heart of country music. btw, I don’t speak with a southern accent, but I write with one sometimes.
I’m going to cut and paste something I wrote at mj’s that expresses my thoughts about this. The first thing you’ll see is a quote from a snotty person who I was responding to, and my comments follow:
JosieX
01/21/2010 at 9:09 pm
Quoting the snotty person:
“That’s because Danny’s not country . And, he’s not very good at faking it either.”
My response:
He has not faked it and has no intention of faking it. He doesn’t need to. That’s kind of the point of the expansion of country music’s boundaries, for better or for worse, depending on your perspective.
Here’s my perspective on it. In the post WW II era, millions of people migrated from the south to the midwest and beyond, to take advantage of the factory jobs and economic expansion that went with them. Those people carried their taste for country music with them. So if you stepped into a mechanic’s garage or a truck stop, likely as not you’d be hearing Loretta or Tammy whether you were in Georgia or Michigan. Heck, even Seattle has two country music stations. Those people now have children, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are music consumers. They lost their southern accents a long time ago. They’ve never eaten an egg that came out from under the chicken that morning, kwim? But they’re proud of their roots nonetheless, and they often have the same basic values that their grandparents did. And there are other people who don’t have even far-reaching roots back to the south who buy into those values, and they may not care for the robo-pop artists that seem to rule the Top 40, but songs like “Hillbilly Bone” aren’t the penultimate form of musical expression for them either. I think we’re talking about a pretty good sized chunk of the population here. Maybe L.A. isn’t particularly interested in serving them, and maybe Nashville is. I don’t see it as “watered down” country, I see it as an emerging form of American music. Maybe George Jones is right and they need to call it something else. I think that there will always be a demand for traditional country music, and I’m glad about that. But as the demographics of the country change, music will change with it. If record label executives didn’t see demand changing, they wouldn’t be supplying an artist like Danny. I think he is right where he should be.
(end of cut and paste from my post at mj’s)
Cheryl, this was a very long post but I hope it helps answer your question!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Cindy, I’ve seen Scott mention that he is working on a book, I believe with a co-author/ghostwriter, and I assume it’s memoirs. You could ask about that. I’d be interested to know if he has limitations on what he can talk about with the Idol experience based on his contract with them. He also talks about chocolate and food all the time, so you could ask about favorites there. You could ask what’s his favorite song he’s heard released from his Idol Alums so far. If he doesn’t say Danny’s, then pretend there’s a bad connection and hang up on him.
But with Scott, I think once you get him going you won’t have to worry about questions too much, he’s a talker.
Twitter: pjgvet
Cheryl, Bosman, lol! I don’t think you are being disrespectful, just honest, and you are obviously giving country a chance!
I can only take in small doses also, but could listen to Danny’s sublime voice all day.
Josie, I read that above post when you made it at MJs and thought it was nothing less than pure genius and VERY intuitive.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Erika, I saw your post yesterday about the stress you’re under. I just wanted to say that some of the best things that have happened to me in my life have happened as a result of changes that I did not want at the time. Knowing this doesn’t make change any less stressful, but realizing it does help a bit with peace of mind as you’re going through it, I think. I hope things work out wonderfully well for you.
Twitter: pjgvet
Cindy, ask him about any escapades with the other Idols that we haven’t heard about! Esp. Manny capers, since I’m sure there were plenty that didn’t get out, lol.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Pam, thanks! I barely got to speak to you all yesterday, but I seem to be making up for it today!
I agree with you about listening to Danny. I don’t get tired of listening to him. It’s nice that he does so many “moods” in music so well.
Twitter: steph6449
Maybe ask Scott whether he now has the guide dog that Paula got him? Haven’t heard if that worked out.
I’d be curious if he’s ever had other employment. Have mostly heard of him being in school or on AI. Not sure if his family is affluent or how he’s supported himself along the way.
And of course, what type of music he’s working on now. Seems to be in the studio a lot. In between eating chocolate, lol.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Josie Thank you for posting that. Beautifully said and it makes so much sense. It totally clicked for me and this is why:
My husband’s parents were born in Mississippi. They migrated north when they were in their early 20′s and have lived in Wisconsin for almost 60 years. However, when they get together with friends and relatives who also came from Mississippi, perhaps at a family reunion, it’s almost like they are speaking a different language. When I first heard it I literally didn’t understand some of what they were saying. It really struck me as strange. My first reaction was that my in-laws were faking their accents, because I had never heard them speak that way before. I asked my husband why his parents and aunts and uncles (who also have now lived in Chicago and Wisconsin for 60 years) talk different when they got together. He said he didn’t notice, but of course he was probably used to hearing this different cadence on and off for years. I now have become used to it and of course comepletely understand what they are saying. What I came to realize that it is representative of their connection to “home”. I now love to hear them talk when they are together because as they are talking they are reminiscing and laughing and it feels so warm and genuine to me.
You have now made me realize the same can be said about country music. I hadn’t ever made that connection before, but I love how you so eloquently described the connection between where one’s family comes from and how the music (and lifestyle) has changed yet still carries with it elements of tradition. Thanks for that great insight.
Twitter: pjgvet
Cheryl, very interesting! I guess between what you and Josie said, the Twang does make sense! Just seems weird when people like Darius Rucker who didn’t have one acquire one.
Hopefully Danny will connect with people so much he won’t need a twang!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Cheryl, what you said brings back great memories for me. Long Sunday afternoons listening to the storytellers and the rise and fall of their voices, punctuated with lots of laughter. I do think that feeling of connection to tradition is what many country songs are reaching for, whether the sound of them is traditional or modern.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Cindy People I work with who live in the northern-most suburbs of Chicago also felt the quake. Weird isn’t it? Happens every 5-10 years!
So nice that you get to talk with Scott.
I know he is from a family of musicians. Ask him if he will be collaborating with them on his first album.
Ask him if he plays any other instruments other than piano.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Pam, I think Darius Rucker is from NC, not sure if he grew up there. So maybe he comes by it naturally!
I don’t think that Danny needs to have Twangxiety though.
One of the biggest, biggest values of traditional country music listeners I think is Be Real. Don’t be pretentious, don’t pretend to be something you’re not. And he hasn’t, he is just himself. I think you are exactly right that he connects with people so much that they see past the superfical difference of a Milwaukee accent instead of a southern one!
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Pam The Darius Rucker thing does have me mystified. I loved his voice when he sang with Hootie and the Blowfish. I don’t like it nearly as much now. However, I do not he is from either North Carolina or South Carolina, so maybe he is really going back to his roots and making a connection as well.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
I meant to say I KNOW he is from
Twitter: pjgvet
Oh, maybe he is reverting back just like your relatives do! A deep ingrained genetic twang, lol!
I don’t think the Milgokey accent is as easy to get rid of though! People say they move and everyone knows they are from Wiscahhhnnsin, lol. Its so humorous; in AI forums so many people wanted to know what foreign accent Danny had! Some thought Irish for some reason. Many thought it was sexy. That made me laugh- I think they were confusing Danny’s unique voice timbre with the accent
Supposedly some in Milwaukee felt that quake also Cheryl! I was sleeping, but have to ask Hubbie, he gets up really early Wed am.
Off to exercise, BBL.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Pam and Josie I not only could listen to Danny all day – I do listen to him all day! I sometimes can’t figure myself out. I have never, ever, liked a musician so much that I listen ONLY to that one person for almost a year! I can honestly say that I could count on 10 fingers the number of other artists I have listened to since AI8. I am completely obsessed with hearing Danny’s voice. I even take my phone into the bathroom with me when I shower. The first thing I do in the morning when I wake up is turn on his music and the last thing I do before I go to bed is listen to him. I listen to Danny in a constant stream at work for 8 hours! I get one hour for lunch and I listen to him for the entire hour.
I bought an adapter for my Iphone so that when I am traveling in the car, my phone is plugged in and charging so that I can listen to him on road trips.
I am truly mesmerized by Danny’s voice. I keep wondering to myself if my obsession with hearing him will ever fade away. I honestly don’t think it will.
I’m hooked forever!
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Pam As you know, I am from Wisconsin. I have lived in Atlanta, Houston, Dallas and now Chicago. EVERYONE knows I am from Wiscahhhnson. The “O”‘s are a dead giveaway! Including the long “O”. Can’t even describe in writing how it sounds, but there is no doubt when I say “boat”, “coat” “show” or “no” that I’m a Wisconsin native. Although, when I was in Texas, some people would ask if I was from Canada!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Pam, maybe the accent is derived from Irish immigrants, I wonder if that’s why people’s ears were picking up something Irish in it? I’m not sure of the ethnic history of Milwaukee. I lived in Cincinnati for awhile, and there’s a distinctive bit of its German immigrant history in that instead of saying “Excuse me?” if they don’t hear something clearly, they’ll say “Please?”. Just as Germans would say “Bitte?”. There are probably distinctive Milwaukeeisms too.
I like Danny’s speaking voice, it’s got that same pleasant husky sound. It’s funny how some singers sound so different from their speaking voice. I think it’s cute that he mixes up sayings all the time too, like the other day he said things were going so fast, from 90 to zero instead of the other way around. That reminds me so much of my best friend. I’ve told you a little about how he does that, I don’t think I told you about the “nail in the camel” one though. He said that once to a group and we were all looking at each other mystified until we realized that he had combined “nail in the coffin” with “the straw that broke the camel’s back” to get “nail in the camel”. We all still say that sometimes!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Cheryl, you make Danny sound kind of like crack, lol! But being addicted to Danny’s music won’t make your teeth fall out, thank goodness!
I love listening to him too, but I do listen to other people as well. And my husband has very eclectic taste in music. There are a lot of things we both like, e.g. we both loved Matt’s duet that was recently released. Another thing we both love a lot is Hawaiian slack key guitar music. It is very beautiful and relaxing. I’m glad that my husband also likes Danny’s music. He is not a big fan of country music, but he likes Danny’s voice and Danny’s songs are not “too” country, in the traditional sense.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Josie I did download Matt’s duet last week. But, I haven’t listened to it yet! I also downloaded about 6 songs from George Clooney’s Haiti relief telethon……and haven’t listened to them yet! I just haven’t found the time – too busy listneing to Danny! I have well over 1800 songs and videos on my IPhone – I could easily get rid of 1700 of them – because they are not Danny. I do need my fix
Cindy S.: I would be interested in Scott’s musical projects, especially if anything has been recorded and is available for purchase.
BTW, the friend who I took with me to the AI concert really, really liked Scott. She liked his patter and jokes, and, of course, his music. Her mother really like Lil. And her husband liked Megan. Just goes to show that among the non-Idol crowd, there was interest in Idols other than the top 4.
Twitter: Upsnodowns
Danny is quite funny in some of his phrasing. I laughed when I heard the 90 to 0 also – AND he said it in two separate interviews! He also has a tendency to start making a point and then jumps to something else, eventually coming back to the original point. I laugh at that because I do the same thing! Maybe it’s a Wisconsin thing? LOL
I also think he is adorable when he is trying to make a point, instead of just saying it, he says “I’ll say it like this”. So cute!!!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
just saw a tweet from Ivan that he sent a few minutes ago that they’re live here now.
http://www.kj97.com/mediaplayer/?station=KAJA-FM&action=listenlive&channel_title=
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
He is starting to sing WHTM. I wish I knew how to record things from the radio but I don’t. Will have to get someone to explain it to me.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
DJ says “that was awesome”. DJ asking Danny about Lionel Richie, Danny talking about how nice Lionel was to him. DJ thinks Danny would sound great on “Lady”. (Blech from me on that one).
Doing the traffic report now.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
DJ just said KJ97 will be playing the song!!! Yay!
Fan is asking how concerts he saw when he was young influenced him. Danny is explaining how his family didn’t really have money for concerts, but it was growing up in church that influenced him.
DJ talking about what a nice family he has. Danny talking nieces and nephews, when he starts having kids he’s going to have “a litter”. Ha! I kind of figured that!
Getting ready to sing Life On Ya!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
DJ loves it, says surely it will be released to radio at same point.
DJ asking Danny what the AI judges were like. Danny talking about Paula being nice.
DJ asking how Danny handled the nerves on AI. Danny said it was tough, basically says you just have to do it. Says he will be back on AI but can’t say what date.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Boy, I think I just dodged a bullet. After WHTM the DJ was playing a song I thought was AWFUL and I almost tweeted Ivan a funny comment about it and thought better of it. Then the DJ said it was by Tim McGraw, who of course is a favorite. Yikes, that would have been embarrassing! It was some kind of song about American Indians or something, I don’t know what it was.
I think Danny is coming back but not sure.
Twitter: pjgvet
Just checkin in after dinner; yikes, Thanks JOsie! It pays to hang at iheart *********going to listen************
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
DJ talking about how cool it is that Danny is Top 40 now. Now talking about Danny’s loss of Sophia as a lead up to “IWNSG”, which he is singing next. Oh gosh, it always just kills me when he sings this song.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
DJ saying wow wow wow, got goosebumps. Danny says they’re thinking of it as the next single.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Dj Travis warmly thanking Danny and saying “you’ll do well”. I think that’s it!
Twitter: pjgvet
DJ seemed to love him as usual!
Wow, how can he nail that difficult song live like that?
You hear how Taylor, and even Lady Antebellum (and Carrie during the N. Anthem) went pitchy.
Danny is incredible. He does get hoarse at times, but who wouldn’t with the work his voice gets?
He definitely doesn’t get enough credit for how on point he is live.
Josie thanks for the recap too, for all of those eating dinner or out shoveling!
We only got 11.5″ yesterday. Nothing compared to you PA and MD people- my sympathies
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Pam I agree with you, he is amazingly consistent. Whenever there is a discussion at mjs about how no one can do the NA and stay on pitch the whole time, I am always just itching to say, oh yes they can.
Twitter: pjgvet
I know Josie, with the big Carrie and Kris discussion, I wanted so bad to say Danny is never pitchy! But we know that just invites hate
BBL
Cheryl, do not know if you are still on think I have an answer for you about the twang if someone else hasn’t. It is too sound country vs.sounding gospel, why some artists do that beats me.
Comment about AI last night when the Rascal Flatts song came on what hurts the most gave me a start. I thought now that is an interesting choice of songs for right then. It must be me something is missing is this years show besides Danny not being there. Does anyone else keep expecting Danny to pop up at any time??? I keep bouncing in and out of the show, I now see why Danny did so well in the Hollywood week.. tonight we will see how people do as a group. Because Danny had so much experience directing people and along with leadership skills his group did fab last year.
Lucky you guys something else that has me going, how does a person go gold on an album or purple for that matter and not be a good singer from that one interviewer comment.
Lastly Lionel Richie is going to be on Oprah this Friday, learned that today. I was really hoping that Mr. Richie would bring on Danny to sing one of his songs with him. That would of been nice of him and the Oprah producers to do that. Since this Friday is going to be for Valentine’s Day and love songs. I do think something is up with all of that….Guess I am being very defensive of Danny. So it is so good to hear from all of you good things that are happening with him and for him. thanks again for that and why I love this site.

Check out Bob Pickett’s interview with Danny Gokey at http://bit.ly/b2VBGU
Hey! just checking in, more like lurking
I see that Danny just did another radio interview a few moments ago. I saw the link on twitter but I think that it was over by the time I clicked on. Oh well…I’ll catch the next one
Other than that, what else is going on?
Steph, thanks for the correct link to the pics from Rochester
Bosman and Billie, add me to the list of people who weren’t at all familiar with the genre of country music! I couldn’t handle it either due to the poor diction, redneck english, double negatives, the whole bit. But Danny’s music has made me decide to dive in head first and check out some country music that’s popular today. And ya know what? I am finding that I am really liking a lot of it! I’m surprised at myself!
Gotta say that as much as the comments from the Kradison bunch and other haters used to really get me upset, I now find amusement in their posts with how they are clutching at straws and scrabbling around to bring up ancient gripes from last year in trying to bring Danny down, and other comments everyone has been sharing here (he was forced into country, no one else wanted him, etc., and the funniest stuff is the outrage and disbelief that Danny is actually going out on a really graat tour (with Suglarland) BEFORE Adam or Kris or Allison. Like Dani says, they are all stuck on stupid
BBL….

Jessie James helps Hatian Orphans
MERCURY RECORDING ARTIST JESSIE JAMES HELPS HAITIAN ORPHANS
Nashville concert and silent auction raise funds for Dove orphanage in Port-au-Prince
On February 11, 2010, music artists Jessie James and Alyssa Bonagura will perform at The Listening Room in downtown Nashville to benefit Dove Orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. During the performance, a silent auction with items donated from The Rolling Stones, Danny Gokey, Darryl Worley, Dave Barnes and others will be available.
Following the earthquake, Liz McKie, director of 501(c3) nonprofit, Dove Missions, received a phone call from a friend in Port-au-Prince saying than an orphanage had collapsed and 45 young children needed shelter, food and water immediately. After exhausting other options, Liz and her team took on the incredible responsibility of expanding their mission and offering a home, food, heath services and hope for an education to these children; however, their mission is quickly being drained of its resources and is in immediate need of funding and supplies.
When Belmont University student, Tori Harris, heard of Liz’s situation, she encouraged Liz to fly to Nashville, where the student had begun organizing a series of speaking engagements and a benefit concert. After hearing Liz’s story, Alyssa Bonangura, who attends church with Harris, called friend, Jessie James, who immediately and enthusiastically agreed to headline the concert.
“Our first goal,” say Liz Mckie, “Is to raise enough funding for a home for these children. Though it seems impossible, I know what we’re doing is right, and I just have to trust that God is going to provide.”
“This is truly a time where each dollar you give makes a real difference,” says Harris, “I’m so grateful to Jessie, Alyssa and all the artists who have agreed to help.”
The event runs from 8:30-11:30pm and is open to the public. Other artists performing are Chris Cole, Greg Bates, Russell Dickerson and Chase Foster.
All financial donations can be at the event, by visiting http://www.DoveMissions.com or sending a check to: Dove Missions, c/o Caroline Santora, 5834 East Beck Lane, Scottsdale, AZ 85254

Thank you Josie, for the recap of the radio interview. I felt like I was there, without having to risk listening to “Life On Ya” and spoiling the surprise. (I stopped listening to the music player for the same reason.)

AWw, Steph, the snow is getting to you! We all need a good cry though, once in a while.
Ellen- were you able to find your video? I emailed you with a couple of suggestions on how to find it.

Hi everybody, after jumping in and out of Iheart yesterday, i was stuck in a 7 hour conference call today….blehhh…
I thought your conversation on Danny’s Milwaukee accent was interesting. While I am also a Wisconsinite, my husband was raised in Milwaukee. When I first met him, I couldn’t figure out his “accent” –and to top it off he liked soul food. (He grew up as a minority in his black neighborhood.) So when I point out some of Danny’s unusual use of English and phrasing, my husband just laughs and says “that’s because he’s a product of the Milwaukee School System”. No offense intended to those of you growing up in Milwaukee!
Julie, thanks for remembering–My ankle (and I discovered my back) are better, but they both ache.
Toni did spend quite a bit of time on the videos. More are coming. She had a IT friend show her some tips. They are still huge, though.
Jan
Pam, I’m still at work, so I haven’t checked my e-mail yet. And of course I am not at my home computer. But many thanks! I owe you big time!
BTW, I was working on a project at work last week, and made edits to an e-mailed document from the e-mail link (rather than saving it first as a separate document). I saved the document, so I knew it was on my computer somewhere, but couldn’t find it. The boss that I was working with on the document taught me a trick to find the correct file path. And lo and behold, we recovered the document and I didn’t have to input all the changes from scratch (and hope that I remembered them all)!
Is anyone else watching the group round in Hollywood tonight on AI?
They just mentioned a girl that was in the Hollywood group last year with Danny and Jamar.
Twitter: steph6449
Yes. Aww, they showed Danny for a minute
Twitter: jannworth
Did you guys just see a clip on Danny on AI? They are featured one of the girls that was in the Rainbow Coalition with Danny and Jamar–and there were two clips from last year! Ahhh…I miss him on AI!
Twitter: jannworth
FOGs and Steph–wasn’t that so cool to see clips of Danny from last year? I practically hung up on my daughter in order to watch it! (Bad mother….)

Jan, so funny
But yes, was nice to hear Ryan mention Danny and see those clips.

It was nice to see Ryan mention Danny.

Hey everyone – just stopped by DGO. 352 online right now! Somethings goin’ on! And his name is Danny Gokey!
But Danny was always a favorite of 19E. They always treated him good and encouraged him. They never threw him under the bus as as they have a reputation for. I don’t think Ryan’s plug of Danny was something off the cuff. It was probably all planned.
Twitter: steph6449
Wow, I see that. 373! yay.
Do you guys think that the boost at Danny’s official site could be because AI showed clips of him tonight?
WOW I just read that traffic increased at Danny’s official site – it is as 393. I wasn’t watching AI what reference was made to Danny on the show. Details please.
Lizzy
Ryan had mentioned that one of the girls in Hollywood tonight was in Danny and Jamar’s group from last year. They showed a couple of clips of Danny in her group last year.
I just saw that there is now 425 people online at Danny’s official site right now.
Just got done watching AI. Does Mary Powers annoy anyone as much as she annoys me???
FOGS – if DGO traffic has a spike like that when Danny’s name/picture is flashed on AI, imagine what will happen when he performs!
Steph, thanks for the link to the KASE101 interview! Maybe it was because we were discussing accents earlier today, but I really noticed Danny’s Milwaukee accent with words with a long O such as show, go, know, etc. I think I could just sit for hours and listen to him talk, even if he just read the Milwaukee phone directory!
Hi Shirl – was Mary Powers the one at the end? Seemed her vocals didn’t live up to the hype she created.
Milgokey
I definitely could see him having a bigger spike than that on his official site after he performs. And hopefully he will see a nice spike in sales after he performs too.
I think that what happened tonight was that people at home who don’t really follow Idols on the internet, saw Ryan mention Danny. And then wondered what Danny was up to and decided to google him. His website is now the first website, (outside of one mentioning an article of him) that pops up on google. So I think people googled him, saw his official website and went to it.
A comment about the audio clip of Rascal Flatts’ “What Hurts The Most” on AI yesterday:
As you know, I didn’t “discover” Danny until AI was over. Then I watched video clips of Season 8 on AI’s website. My viewing was random; didn’t know which songs were sung when. Also, I never saw Danny’s audition until afterwards, when I googled it. So I had no idea about the death of Danny’s wife when I watched his performances on the web.
Anyway, the first time I heard Danny singing WHTM, I thought he was singing about getting voted off in the third spot after coming so close to winning. “What hurts the most . . . was being so close . . . and never knowing . . . what could’ve been . . .” I thought at the time the song was a good (albeit bittersweet) song for the losers to sing.
So I think AI picked the song because it fit the mood of so many hopefuls not making the cut and being sent back home from Hollywood.
But given the clip shown tonight of Danny and Jamar (AI hasn’t come on in the West Coast yet), it may also have been intended as subtle reminder of Danny. (Presumably they went with the Rascal Flatts version because Danny covered the song and recorded it for AI, not as a signed artist.)
I think AI knows that Season 8 was special, and we will see lots of reminders (like Kara’s mention of Adam, even if she meant Kris).
Yes, milgokey fan, she was the one at the end. I was not impressed by her vocals at all…..and I don’t want to say anymore because people on the west coast have yet to see tonight’s show. But it just seemed to me that she was on such an ego trip and trying to run the whole show.
Did anyone notice a Brooke White song playing during one part of AI tonight? Loved her on AI7. Marching off to look her up on itunes…
Hi -
Was reading some of the posts regarding a performer’s speaking vs. singing voice. The person that comes to mind (and some of you probably won’t know him) is Jim Nabors. He had a very goofy sounding voice (Andy Griffith Show) etc. but a GORGEOUS singing voice.
I tweeted Danny about holding a twitter Q & A party with his fans. I know he’s busy, but he could perhaps do only an hour at a time. M. Sarver holds them frequently. You do learn a lot about the person. Just an idea I had for some fun!!!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
I’ll be watching it in half an hour, looking forward to seeing the clip of Danny and Jamar.
I have not become interested in anyone yet. Several seem to have nice voices but I am kind of indifferent so far. Maybe this episode will show more of their personalities and I’ll find them more interesting than I do now.
Twitter: steph6449
The DGO traffic probably did spike from the AI show. So I suppose (?) it should spike again as the episodes air in later timezones?
By the way, I see my new picture popped up. It is of our beloved dog, Katie who lived 14 1/2 yrs. She died in 2002, but we still miss her….loved her so much.
I also changed my name to Cori on site (real name is Corinne and Ellen is my middle name) Hope I didn’t confuse everyone….=)
Josie
I am not really interested in anyone right now either. There really isn’t anyone who sticks out to me based on their personality. Even though I do think there are some decent singers this year. Casey is a little bit interesting to me, but right now no one is as interesting to me as people like David Cook, Anoop and Danny were.
Steph
It’s possible there could be another spike later on Danny’s official site.
Milgokey
I heard that a song by Brooke White was played tonight, but I either missed that or didn’t realize it was her when they played it.
Twitter: steph6449
Cori, aww. I had an older poodle also, he was almost twenty when he passed on. Have another now named Lily whose 7. She loves playing around the house, she also visits websites to post nice comments about Danny in her spare time
Ha.
It looks like Danny’s album just got a little boost in sales because of his mention on AI. His album had went down to #144 on the overall albums charts on Itunes but now it’s #119 on the overall albums chart on Itunes. I think that this is the highest his album has been ranked on the overall albums chart on Itunes.
Brooke has a unique voice and I may buy a couple of her songs. Kind of a throw-back sound to her which is interesting. My favorite that year though was David Cook. Really liked his cd.
Tonight was my first glance at this year’s AI and no one really jumped out at me either. Liked the story about the new daddy though.
Steph….glad you’re another poodle lover and I believe the part about posting comments, they’re very smart pooches!!haha Also Lily is a beautiful name (my niece’s name). I take it you had a miniature – but that’s still very long for a dog. Katie was a standard.
Cori – Katie looks like she was a real sweetie. It is so hard to lose a dog, especially one you’ve had so long. Been there several times. Did you get a new dog?
Haha Steph! – I wish I could get my dog to visit websites and post! Maybe if I got her a laptop of her own.
Twitter: steph6449
My other dog also posts from beyond, his name was Jesse.
Cori, yes, Jesse & Lily both miniatures. The standards are really beautiful though also
FOGS – woohoo on the chart move!
Danny moved up a little more on Itunes and is now #111 on the overall albums chart on Itunes and #11 on the country albums chart. I believe that #11 on the Country albums chart is the highest he has been so far.
Twitter: jannworth
Hi Steph, its great to see the effect Danny has even on our canine friends, my dog, Lucy, has made a few comments on websites in support of Danny, too–she loves Danny, too!! (Lucysfav)
As I post, I’m playing the snippets of Danny’s album from Amazon Uk. I wonder when the snippets will be posted at US Amazon?
For those don’t want to hear my views about the album, just skip this section:
I really like Crazy Not To—can’t wait to hear what comes after “I know if I kiss you….” I like the studio version of Tiny Life so much more. Still Believe has a nice energy. Interesting that the lyrics are a little different. I think Get Away will be very popular–its high energy, Danny’s lower range is used in the part about finding a sunset–its nice to hear it on the album. At the Nola concert, they didn’t have the sound set correctly (or he was hoarse) to project it.
I really liked the acoustic version of Life on Ya–there’s so much fiddles on the studio version, it really changes it for me. Hmmmmm..Still love “Be Somebody.” And of course IWNSGB is still amazing.

Milgokey…..we never did replace her…it was one of the worst days of my life. It’s too bad our pets don’t live longer lives. I believe we will be re-united with them someday…
Steph, yes they make wonderful pets – great with children – a little expensive, because they frequently need clipping. But well worth it!!!!
What do you think about Danny having a twitter party. Fans could ask him short questions, and he could choose which ones he wanted to answer.
Steph – thanks for the interview links earlier. I must admit to getting misty at the la times one, right at the end. Danny sure knows how to tug at the heart.
The video was really good, too. Had to laugh, though, when Josie commented earlier about Danny’s Milwaukee accent (accent, what accent, I don’t have an accent) and how he mixes up sayings (nail in the camel). In this interview he was also doing the one where he starts saying something, changes directions, goes back, but never really finishes a sentence. That is so funny!

FOGS, that’s great. I hope Danny may rise into the top 10 country albums if there is an AI boost going on, just from the show airing and that little clip of Danny.
Maybe the performers people claim remind them of Danny are helping too, though they don’t really remind me of him much IMO.
Just to clarify, I didn’t mean funny as in laughing AT him. I meant funny as in endearingly cute.
Milgokey….I’m with you – never thought I had the WI accent until we were in Florida some time ago and someone there knew just where I was from!! Also my relatives in Georgia have commented on it. I find it so interesting….
Cori – I’m sure I have the accent, too. It just seems to be more pronounced with some people. Kind of like a Southern accent. Some people have a really strong accent, and some just a little.

It would be cool if Danny could get into the top 10 Country albums on Itunes. The #10 country album on Itunes is Lady Antebellum’s first album, “Lady Antebellum.” There are twenty three albums separting their album from Danny’s on the overall Itunes chart.
So I’m not sure if he will get into the top 10, but maybe he can still move up more on the overall albums chart on Itunes. Maybe some people on the west coast, will also seek him and his music out and buy some copies of his album, once the clips of him are shown again.
I think the boost is just him being mentioned and shown again on AI, reminding people of him from last season. There are probably people that are fans of him, and wondered what happened to him. And they decided to look him up tonight and buy his album.
Danny’s now #105 on the overall Itunes album chart. He might be able to crack the Top 100 albums on Itunes which would be cool.
Now’s there’s 8 albums separating Danny’s album from Lady Antebellum’s first album, and the #10 country album spot on Itunes.
I think one of the words we use in WI is “huh”. I find myself using that instead of pardon me…etc. I noticed Danny used in one night while talking to Ryan S. on a results show. Was funny!!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
milgokey, I know, he is cute when he talks. He is getting so be much smoother at giving them the sound bytes they want and focusing on key talking points, but I hope he never gets too smooth at it. I like his enthusiasm for things that gets him tripping over his words, it’s endearing.
Cori, I may be wrong but I would be surprised if he wanted to do a twitter party for awhile. I can understand why, he’s having to go all day focusing every single minute on people asking him questions or remembering the words to songs and where he is in the song. That would be exhausting. As far as I recall, he has only done one twitter party and I think it was before he was signed. I don’t know if his management would ask him not to, or not. Maybe he will one of these days.
And about dogs, one of my favorite sayings is by Will Rogers:
“If there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.”
I’m going to do some voting….will say goodnight to all those on yet.
Twitter: steph6449
The only twitter party I remember from Danny was the one with Joel. Did see Joel was back on twitter recently, though much less often than before.
Ivan seems to be tweeting with fans tonight though.
Goodnight Cori.
Josie – like your Will Rogers quote. I hope to see all my dogs again someday.
Did you see tonight’s AI yet? I’m just wondering if we’ll see another spike at DGO.
Twitter: pjgvet
Hi everyone
170 at DGO right now. That is pretty amazing what a tiny blip of TV can do! I guess we have been saying all along there probably are a lot of people who aren’t on the internet that will “remember” how much they liked Danny. His appearance should be very good for album sales.
Except, gah- Wifebeater shirt shot in the closet rehearsal scene- not my favorite!
No wonder Adam got such big boost after being on Oprah and the Grammys!
I will have to go back and replay the little Danny blip when my husband is not around
Cori, Standard Poodles are a great breed. I used to have an adopted Greyhound and S. P. remind me a lot of their personality. Never met a mean one yet.
This is just unbelievable – the reaction on the charts with just 1 mention. I think some are also new fans. I can imagine what it’s going to be like when Danny comes back and perform. I am sure 19E and RCA Nashville very happy with the results.
Danny has also said in the LA Times Idol Track interview that he really wants to do Idol Gives Back really bad – and had his manager put out the word.
Thanks Josie..maybe time isn’t right at the moment. But I do hope he’ll hold some down the road. Also I like the clever Will Roger’s saying.
Goodnight guys.
If someone sees Danny make the Top 100 albums on the overall Itunes albums chart and Top 10 on the country albums chart, can you post about it here?
I am definitely interested in seeing/learning how he does tomorrow morning. Maybe he will get another spike after the show airs on the West Coast.
Pam – I have an adopted Greyhound, too. She is such a sweetie! And lazy as all get out!
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
I have two Havanese dogs. Pam, are you acquainted with any of that breed? They are the sweetest little things. Their best friend is a huge male Collie who they aggravate by running rings around him.
Twitter: JosieInSeattle
Goodnight FOGS! I will try to remember to check out the chart after the West coast show.
Pam, I agree they are great. She was a little hyper as a puppy, but settled down later on. I hope they found homes for all those greyhounds in Kenosha.
Twitter: pjgvet
Josie, we have a couple of clients w/Havanese! We are always drawing blood on one clients dog for a study on liver problems in the breed; she sends the samples to Madison. They are really sweet
Now the collie on the other hand; (Lassie was an anomaly, lol)- I know why the havanese run rings around him
- they are probably a little smarter!
Not that Greyhounds are smart either, they rank down their on the list (sorry Milgokey!)- they are “dumb jocks” lol!
Cori, Steph- Poodles are the #2 smartest breed!
Pam – lol, that’s ok. I could tell when I got her she wasn’t the brightest crayon in the box. She may be a dumb jock but she makes up for it with her sweetness.
No wonder Steph’s dog can post Danny comments…haha Our dog was so funny…she’d do some very protective barking when a stranger came to the door…and then go and hide in the bathtub lol (so many great memories) <3

Hi Cheryl, I think it all boils down to diction. A trained vocalist will pronounce their vowels differently while singing than speaking. For example, E will become “eh,” A will become “ah,” O can remain the same or become “Oooo.” When listeing to a trained vocalist sing, you shouldn’t notice these nuances in their diction.
Although Danny has no formal training – I think he said that – he’s grown up in church. Many church vocal programs have directors that should address this when teaching songs; if they don’t…well…they should.
Anyway, Danny is a new breed of country artist; no twang (thank Heaven), proper diction, and soul that would rival anybody out there!

Great news on the album sales as a result of the Danny Blip on AI 9. People really do love him.
My 7 seconds on the FOX 47 Danny feature last night got noticed by another of my male co-workers. My office was decorated with a Danny photo and they proclaimed me the “chief” (I’m a section chief at work) of the Gokey Fan Club. I smiled, but didn’t tell them they had the wrong fan club and that I’m not a chief, LOL. Its rough being a fangirl at my age in a boys club. Jan

…oh, goodnight everybody!

Cori, I loved the image of your brave dog in the bathtub–so cute!
Hi all!
Couldn’t help but notice the poodle conversation. I had a beautiful, sweet standard poodle named Baylee Rose. She was only 9 years old when she died. I firmly believe that she died because of the melamine that was in the tainted pet food.
I think my Mom’s 15 year old Yorkie, Petey, also died from the tainted pet food.
It was heartbreaking to watch these sweet animals suffer.
It’s neat to see that Danny got that spike from that brief little mention of Danny. We didn’t even get to hear him sing. This makes me excited about his upcoming performance, and how much is will enhance his first week sales.
Time to do some power voting…so goodnight Billie, Jannikas, Pam, Josie, FOGS, Milgokey, Steph and those I may have missed…..oh…and Goodnight Danny wherever you are!!!!! =)
I’m still here..so interesting about the dogs (not that Danny’s not). Thanks Jan…..aren’t they just precious…and glad Amy that you’re another poodle lover. Don’t know if you read Steph has a miniature poodle. But what a sad story to lose both dogs like that…was there a huge recall on the food I hope.
I thought I read that Danny had both dogs and cats while growing up…anyone know for sure??
Twitter: steph6449
I’ve been trying to train Lily to power-vote for Danny. So far though she hasn’t quite got the knack of it
Saw some fans noticing Danny on the west coast AI9. Don’t see the DGO numbers jumping back up though, maybe there was some other cause we’re missing.
Finished my last GAC vote for the week, will try a few more at CMT before bedtime. Off at work again tomorrow with the snow. Don’t give it more than 50/50 for Friday the way it’s been going here.
It’s been fun y’all (she said with a Milwaukee accent). I’m out. Goodnight!
Twitter: pjgvet
Jan, gotta love those coworkers, lol! Its the way boys show love- by teasing !
Amy, so sorry to hear that, so that is where you got your Twitter name!
Good night Cori, Billie (thanks for the professional view!), FOGS
Pam, your comment about smart breeds of dogs made me laugh. At the same time I had Baylee Rose, the poodle, I also had a little Maltese dog named Teejay.
As you said Poodles are ranked second (is it Border Collies that are first?), and well, Maltese are ranked VERY close to the bottom (I think Afghan Hounds are last, but they sure are beautiful dogs).
Anywho, we used to always joke about Baylee being the smartest dog in the world and Teejay being the dumbest.
But sometimes I just wonder if it’s not so much that some dogs are necessarily smarter, but rather more trainable. Baylee could learn any trick in the book, and would do them just to show off and please you. Teejay was practically untrainable. He would just give you this blank stare when you’d ask him to “give five, lay down and roll over.” I always tried to teach him with dog treats, but no matter what he would just look at me with the dumb blank stare. Then one day I took out some luncheon meat, and he didn’t hesitate. He was high fiving, laying down, and rolling over all in succession before I could even get all of the commands out of my mouth. It was too funny. And I thought he was just to dumb to get it!
Twitter: steph6449
I think Danny said something in a recent interview about having several dogs when he grew up. Don’t recall about cats.
Have to lol at his last tweet. Love Danny of course, but that one’s in the TMI category for me
OK it’s off to vote – be careful in the snow steph and ecveryone else too. If you’re driving at a slow speed you can use your #2 gear instead of the D. That way you have more traction. But I believe you can only go up to 35MPH in that gear. Take care..
Goodnight again to all.
Twitter: pjgvet
Amy, you make a good point about animal intelligence! In fact, cats are way smarter than dogs but aren’t very trainable (maybe because they are too smart to do dumb tricks, lol). They use feline brains for neuro research because they are the closest to human brains (after primates).
Yeah, Border collies are #1, you are correct!
Danny definitely has a little kid sense of glee. I can imagine Sophia frequently rolling her eyes at him!

Hello peeps!
It’s been an emotional day for me, cried a lot… but I *think* I’m gonna stay here in Australia at least till the beginning of the next year.
Darla saw Danny today at one of the radio stations and he sent a message to the ihearties: that he loves us at iheart, that he really, really appreciates all the efforts to request his music and to keep calling! But to not spam the radio stations.
And, ahem, she said that, by the way he talked, she thinks he lurks here at the discussion posts…
Josie, sweetheart, he loved the “Request Danny Gokey!” page! WIN! I sent him a DM saying that you were a big part of it! Couldn’t have done it without you, girl!
I’m probably talking to myself… everybody must have gone to bed already…
I assume everyone is gone now, but I’m going to put in my two cents on AI anyway.
Mary irritated the heck out of it, to the point that I hoped she wouldn’t make it. She seems confident that she has what it takes and no one else does. Too bad that while she wasn’t horrible, she wasn’t memorable, either. Well, except for — how shall I say it? — being a control freak. (Plus, I really don’t understand her strategy. Although it was important that the group as a whole make a good impression, the contestants still are judged individually.) I really hope Mary gets winnowed out at the next round.
Who decides on the songs they sing? I thought that Gwen Stefani song was just awful.
I really don’t have any favorites, in terms of rooting for someone to win. I just have a group of contestants that I would like to see move on to the group of 12 or whatever: Katie Stevens, Andrew Garcia, Casey (blond ponytail guy), Haeley (African-American female who wants to do country rock), blond female (single mom?) with the pierced lip, maybe Todrick, and I’m sure I’m forgetting a few other folks. There was at least one guy I thought should have gone through that didn’t, and a handful that did get through and shouldn’t have.
Ah, well. I guess that’s what the next round is for.
I really don’t have any favorites

Hey, Ellen, did you find your file?
I hadn’t known this before, but a local Oregon girl made it to Hollywood, although I don’t know whether she survived the last two days of Idol.
Kelly Bachran performed “Right As Rain” by Adele at the Denver auditions, but AI did not show her audition on TV. She did, however, win the “golden ticket” to Hollywood. According to the local paper, Kelly tried out for the show on a whim, egged on by her best friend. “We decided to go at 8:30 in the morning and were on the plane by 11. We got there just in time to register on Monday, and the audition was the next day,” Kelly said.
Last post: When did they show the clip of Danny? Because wouldn’t you know it, I must have missed it!
Twitter: LuluGokey
wooohooooo~~~ can’t wait for the 2/11 discussion to post this!
Danny! If you are lurking here, show yourself!!
or maybe you can fake a name and talk to us…
What’s up, LuLu?
Erika, no luk.
* no luck
Twitter: LuluGokey
Hey Ellen~~ lol! I was just answering Erika’s post… Danny probably lurks here!!
LuLu, I would be very surprised if Danny hadn’t lurked here from time to time. He’d be curious, and he’d be tempted, because he knows this is not a hater site. So he wouldn’t have to worry about that. But he might feel a little uncomfortable when we are getting all fangirl-y. Yet there are times when he has said and done things that make you wonder whether he read some of the posts. Who knows for sure? But my money is on Danny lurking occasionally.
By the way, LuLu, I wanted to thank you for all that you do to contribute to the iheart site and help us keep up on Danny’s doings. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Way past my bedtime. I wouldn’t be up, but I’ve been trying to resolve a problem. See you tomorrow!
