Hello Dannyland! I read yesterday’s comments this morning and was so happy to see that Danny is climbing up the charts. However, when I went to check the iTunes Country top 100 chart I did not see Danny’s MBD there at all. I think it was Pam who listed Danny’s current status in different charts and Danny should have been 25th on the iTunes chart? Am I missing something and possibly looking at a wrong chart?

Looking forward to hear the news today, which I assume involve Danny upcoming tour schedule.

Is Danny going to be on FM 106.1 this morning announcing “big news”? I’ve been listening to it for an hour but didn’t hear Danny’s name at all… Am I listening to the right station?

Were you looking for the song or the music video. Danny’s single MBD is #164 on the Itunes chart and the music video is #28.

Glad to see Danny at #38 today on mediabase. I haven’t seen the published chart for last week yet. I am hoping that Danny can stay in the top 40 this week but he has new songs from Reba, Tim McGraw, Craig Morgan and David Nail coming up close hehind him. Hopefully there will be enough songs going recurrent also this week Dierks Bentley, George Strait to keep him in the top 40.

At his homecoming I waited in line for 2 or 3 hours (was a beautiful warm sunny day!). We weren’t the first; maybe about the 30th in line. But that was a Friday afternoon. This is a Saturday night, yikes!

Such great news this morning. If I were in the US I would have definitely gone to the coming out concert.

Luckily, somebody always records it, if not the whole thing then just bits, and we all can see what it was like. I bet that’s going to be a very moving and historic concert for him as well.

Luckily no. 2, slow day at work, so I was able to pummel in about 200 votes on CMT today thus far. Gotta go and vote more.

They announced the Sugarland concert for ATL and Danny Gokey is NOT on the bill. Little Big Town is opening. Darn!!!!!

I wonder if they may be mixing in some changes to account for the dates that got cancelled last year. I think Little Big Town was one of the other acts in the tour packege which had Sugarland in 2009.

I have voted for Danny 20 times already this morning on CMT and of course I voted on GAC, we got to get Danny on the GAC list!! I wish there was a pool of 50,000 people voting in one day for Danny!! Brilliant idea for Danny’s concert in Milwaukee. Just think how many CD’s he will sell if buying the CD is admission to the concert – is that correct? I am getting excited about Danny’s first week sales, especially if he is also performing on Idol that week. I want his album to be #1 on the country charts sooo bad. I don’t care about the overall chart as much as the country chart because country media pay more attention to where they debut on the country chart. Less than a month away – hope everyone has put away money to buy his album the first week.

Latrece, your guess is as good as anyone here in Milwaukee! Like I said before, for his homecoming concert I waited in line a couple of hours before; although the hype is pretty big for homecomings I think. His Riverside talk event was only about half full, but we only knew about it a few days ahead and it was during the weeknight. He did have thousands of entries for that FM106 concert so I would expect similar for this……….

I wonder how much it will be advertised on Fox here? I’m sure it will be mentioned

I really like the idea of him doing the concert and having the admission be people buying his CD. I wish that he could have more concerts like this, it would be a nice way for him to sell some CD’s. And he’s only be gaining from it.

I know he has done a lot of free concerts for radio stations since the radio tour began and he benefitted by getting exposure/radio airplay from them. With this concert he will benefit by selling more CD’s.

As far as where he will debut on the Country albums chart, I’m not sure what will happen there. I think he will make at least Top 10 on the Country albums chart, and I think it would be really nice if he could make top 5. Anything better than Top 5 would be fantastic IMO.

Blake Shelton is releasing an EP that week, and he’s selling it for really cheap, and he’s more popular than Danny is.

I think that Billboard does factor in EP’s when they are ranking their album charts. Easton Corbin is also releasing his CD that week, and his song is #11 on the Country chart. Lady Antebellum and Taylor Swift could continue with strong sales that week, and could find themselves in the Top 5.

So I am not sure where Danny will land that week but hopefully he will make at least Top 10 country and maybe Top 5 or better.

Hi everyone! Big news for Danny: the debut of his CD! I am so happy for him. I can only imagine what it feels like for him to hear those words. Dreams do come true.

Once again, the date Danny will be in Milwaukee does not fit into my schedule. I will be in Wisconsin, but not Milwaukee! My father-in-law is turning 80 on March 8th and the party is on that Saturday. Ron is flying in to surprise him. I was disappointed when I heard the date of the concert, but then I realized that Danny will be around for a long, long time and I will have other opportunities to hear him sing in concert.

I know there will be lots of Ihearties and other fans flying from other parts of the country to see him. Hopefully everyone gets in!! I know it will be a joyful time for all.

I was looking at the wrong chart.. Great to hear that some of you Iheart ladies are going to see Danny in concert in Milwaukee. I do think that the venue is a bit small and what will happen if many people are left outside?

I can’t wait to be able to play Danny’s CD in proper stereo system. I’m going to savour the moment and prepare for it. I have noticed that my boyfriend is also looking forward to listen to Danny’s CD. I think I’m brainwashing him to become a real Danny Gokey fan. He has always loved Danny’s voice, but now he is actually asking for news on the concert schedule and the release date for the CD etc.
It’s great to be able to share all this with him.

I was a bit concerned about the venue size too, but when Danny had a free event at the Riverside theatre there were not very many people there (although, he did not sing and it was on a week day), so his management may be thinking that the number of people will be limited. They might also be taking into consideration many people will have already bought the CD and won’t want to buy it again, and those people with children may not want to pay for more than one cd, so they either won’t bring kids, which will mean less people, or won’t come at all. I think you also have to remember that even though Danny is from Milwaukee, his fan base is limited there, just as it is in any other city. I would guess that seating for 1200 people is NOT enough but I don’t think the crowd is going to be so overwhelming that a lot of people will leave upset because they didn’t get in. It may also help that since they have announced that it is a smaller venue, a number of people will stay home thinking that they won’t get in.

It’s been a while since I posted – I have only really just caught up with everything! I have been down a long dark road but slowly walking back up it –so ‘posting’ will be sporadic.
Good to hear Danny made Top 40 – yay!! also can’t wait to hear the ‘tour’ news confirmed!
I bet you MilGokey peeps are excited about Danny’s concert on March 6th!!

Re Maryann’s comment about how she has a ‘feeling’ about Danny’s success. (BTW I agree!) I posted a long while ago about how I thought Danny’s career would take off and he would be the brightest star shining in Milwaukee – well now he will be the brightest star shining all over America and beyond!! I believe Shirl said she liked that comment, think it was way back last summer I posted that!!
Wow how things have just ‘grown’ for Danny over the past months – he is truly becoming established in the world of Country music. He is gaining more fans thanks to his appearances at radio stations and private concerts. I am hoping that once Adam has ‘done the rounds’ in theUK, Danny will be next!! Timing is everything in the world of music these days! I am not really interested in Adam (just not my taste in music) but I wish him success in his career.

Pam-I also emailed ‘Stormcountry’ Radio and thanked them for placing Danny on their ‘B’ list. Also mentioned about interviewing him so hope they pick up on that!!

Pam, that was the mediabase country 7-day chart. you can sort it different ways. I was looking at the “Move” column which shows how many points a different artist went up or down during the 7-day period.
Danny was #18 by that view, which to me suggests his pace solidifying himself and moving up the charts accelerated noticeably this past week. He gained over 100 spins, which was more than a 25% increase.

We were listening to Sugarland’s CD over the weekend and think that Danny and Sugarland are a good match for the concert tour. That female lead singer has a strong voice and puts a lot of passion in her singing and it would actually be fantastic to hear Danny sing with her at some point!

I have no point of reference for what has been done for the psuedo winner and co/winner of Season 8, but can share what happened with David Cook.

He had a special CD blow-out celebration and concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in NY. I believe their venue capacity is around 600-700.

He sold copies of his album as an admission price, and he sang the entire album. Also, did autographs afterwords.

Dressed really flashy. It was a big publicity matter.

Julie I hope all is well with you and only continue to get better. If you get a chance and haven’t done so yet, watch the video tribute KnowVacancy put up on YouTube featuring Danny singing IWNSG with clips from the movie Dear John. It is beautiful and really does make you realize how perfect the song would be for a movie soundtrack. The moment I heard Danny sing the song, my first reaction was that it should be used in a movie.

I’m guessing when Danny guests on AI in March, he will be singing MBD but I sure wish he was singing IWNSG. The audience would be so moved by it and what would even be better, is millions of viewers would be exposed to the song and they would want to buy Danny’s whole album. Maybe they will let Danny sing 2 songs!!!

So glad to see Danny is moving up the charts at a steady pace.

Just a random thought: I have always wished that someone would film Danny’s rise to stardom. It would be great to see a video of Danny on his radio tours and his show in Milwaukee so that we could see the making of a country star on film.

DC’s event wasn’t sponsored through a radio station. Perhaps, that is the difference. Makes me wonder if there is another premiere (yet to be announced) occurring on or darn near close to 3-2-1-0, that will be flasher and be in Nashville.

The matter of ticketing was handled differently too. People lined up at a nearby record store in the morning to make the CD purchase, then were given a wristband for admission into the show later.

Hmm, well that pattern with Sugarland tour just broke. Julianne Hough is announced as the supporting act with Vonda Shepard for the concert in Bakersfield. That’s in addition to the Santa Barbara date previously announced where it seems to be just Vonda advertised to date.

Does seem to be a mix and match sort of tour.

WOW….

It is only a couple of minutes ago I discovered that the CMT vote page accepts the “enter” keyboard key as the vote button in the Firefox browser. I do not know how IE and other browsers react, but this certainly speeds up the voting process exponentially as it obviates the need to go to the bottom of the page and click on the vote button. I do not know how IE behaves with this?

Mouse-scrolling takes so much time. So, mouse is needed only to open tabs and re-load them. Hitting on the “page down” key repeatedly gets you to Danny, once you mark his song, hit the enter and the vote is in.

Bosman’s trick works on IE. Playing with the technique a little more, you can also do Edit–>Find which keeps a little window at the top of the page. If you enter a term matching Danny’s entry, like “Gokey” you can click on that to bring yourself back to Danny’s entry quickly.

So just a few clicks and no scrolling. Hit the vote page, hit find, hit enter, then repeat however often you can stand

Yea, I am totally maniacal about voting today. This week will be crucial to get him as high as possible because passive fans are not yet voting for him. I have a feeling next week Carrie fans will vote only for Temporary Home. This week their vote might still be split between Casanova and Home so Danny has this chance NOW. We only have to vote 3 times more than we did last week.

If we could get him into the top 3, that could be considered as a significant thing. And on Friday the voting is closed, so Thursday is the last day for this week vote.

Hi everyone! Had a rare chance to get online this afternoon to read all the latest, and I was anxious to hear the news that was due to break this morning.

Of course I’m green with envy that you Milgokey gals get to see/hear Danny again, but I think it’s wonderful that he is debuting his new album in his hometown…that’s only right, and good marketing. Plus you know he’s just gonna love all the love he’s gonna get!

I can’t fly into Milwaukee for the March 6 show because we will still be here in Florida. But like Cheryl said (and thanks for reminding me, Cheryl, LOL!) that Danny’s going to be around a long long time and there will be plenty of chances to see him in concert

Would also like to say how happy I am with how nicely Danny is moving on up the charts, with spins and reaching #38 in the Top 40. I cannot even put into words how thrilled I am for him that everything is falling so nicely into place and he is getting all the recognition and more importantly, all the love he so well deserves!!!!

Glad to hear Danny is performing at the Jeffrey Steele event. I tweeted Danny a week ago to ask him if he would be performing and he never responded. So glad that the answer is YES. I had a feeling that since he has sung 1t least 3 of Jeffrey’s songs, he might be asked to perform. I think these events at which other country musicians and insiders are attending are really important for Danny. It gives him exposure to and acceptance by the industry people, not to mention the new fans he gains when performing!

That event is in honor of a young man who lost his life. If Danny sings IWNSG he will have that entire audience in tears. They will be so moved by his performance, just like I am everytime I hear him sing it.

Yes, Bosman, between your tip and that trick with the Find box, Danny voters are getting there as far as power-voting tricks Haven’t figured out much with GAC though. My other home computer gave me the same message that I voted as I get on my laptop, even though it has a different ip. Maybe just the cable modem ip is visible externally. Even after I tried your trick to err, clear my modem, it still had the same ip.

I do have an account at my real estate office, maybe I can vote on one or more their machines next time I stop in. But it wouldn’t be every day. Not sure I could vote with my phone, something else to try.

Steph, I can vote on GAC as many times as I want because when I disconnect and reconnect from the internet my provider gives me dynamic (new) IP address, but I do not do that. It was a hard temptation. But I know that would ruin everything Danny stands for. I do not want to sully his purity and innocence with my egoistic voting. So on GAC I just vote from home and from the office, so 2 votes per day. Well… maybe 3. :lowers his head in shame:

CMT on the other hand allows us as many votes as possible, so we are actually in a way encouraged to be as clever about it as possible.

Although Billboard’s top country songs chart won’t be out until Thursday – there is quite a bit of discussion on music pulse proboard and are quite a few songs close to breaking the top 40 with Tim McGraw’s new song Still, Martina McBride’s new song Wrong Baby Wrong, Reba’s new song and Craig Morgan’s new song. All these established artists will move up the chart much faster than a new artist like Danny. Does seem the consensus that Danny’s My Best Days will make the top 40 on Thursday’s chart. This poster has it at #39 for Billboard’s next issue date of February 20th.

Hi all,
first time posting on here for me, I know quite a few of you from twitter! I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for all support we have had in the campaign to get Danny played on radio in the UK. We have 4 stations playing him now and 3 of them have requested interviews. Their details have been passed on and we are awaiting news so fingers crossed – it will be fantastic if Sony allow him to do it. As Carole mentioned earlier, we are about to start campaigning on a bigger scale across Europe so will keep you posted. Danny has the best fans worldwide!!

I meant to post earlier about Danny officially making the top 40 at #38!!! That’s awesome!!! So proud of him. He deserves it so much I read that article that steph posted earlier about Danny doing a cd release concert in Milwaukee next month. Yeah, it was pretty snarky but at least they promoting it. Hard to believe that there are “stuck-on-stupid” haters in his hometown even, but Danny’s doing his thing and whether they like it or not, his “Milgokey” fans love him!!! So they’ll get over it, I’m sure Don’t really have too much to say about that b/c the stupid haters are boring now. They really are.

I don’t think the Milwaukee snarky people are really haters; my theory is that Milwaukee has a little complex

We will never measure up to Chicago, New York, other big cities so the press sometimes just has to be snarky about anything “not cool”.

The Bo Deans and Violent Femmes were from Milwaukee and are “edgy”, “cool”. But ah, not Danny; so the oh so elite media has to be snarky to keep their “cool ” appearance.

Just my theory.

Cheryl, if you’re still on here, I have never heard of Burgettstown, PA….no idea where that is. Sugarland is coming to State College, PA, which is about 4 hours away. But nothing has been posted as to whether Danny will be with them there or not, and there isn’t even a date. I have been unable to find out anything about it.

Btw, I finally got a chance to hear “Get Away” and “Life On Ya”. Both are good songs so far. Could barely hear “Get Away” from the video that I saw, but I got full intensity of the song completely. Great uptempo beat to it. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be “Life On Ya”. I got a good feeling and vibe from it. Have to listen to it a few more times to let it catch onto me so that’ll sink into my head, but I like it

I’m so ready to get this cd already!!! Need something new to put on both my mp3 and ipod shuffle, since now I know how to put songs on there…lol

Pam I agree with your assessment about the media in Milwaukee. They may have a bit of a complex about being seen as less cosmopolitan than Chicago, NY, LA etc.. so they overcompensate by being critical about all things that might be seen as being midwest, small town and folksy. They apparently think Danny is not cospmopolitan enough for them. Truth is Danny is very supportive of the City of Milwaukee and has gone out of his way to promote it.

Danni, I think that haters were always boring. It is just a reflection of their boring lives and impotence to change things.

So in envy and jealousy they live, hoping and praying that Danny will become an “epic fail.” But they do not know that Danny will fail only if Danny wants to fail.

Helio the other day made one of the best analysis of Danny, when she said that he loves himself in that he is mentally strong and has achieved a high level of self-actualization.

What Helio said prompted me to remember the idolatry interview. When the host – Slezak or whatever his sarcasm highness is named – told Danny that producer Howard Benson said that Danny will never make a record, Danny replied “Since I do believe I’ma be successful, I am gonna take the necessary steps to become successful.”

Eight months later, we can all see that Danny is taking all the necessary steps. Work, work, work. He talked the talk, now he walks the walk. I am yet to see something about Danny that I do not like. All this about him is quite amazing.

Cheryl- Yes, Danny is very supportive of Milwaukee and has done a lot to promote it. Maybe I don’t fully understand the media there b/c whenever I read or watch some type of media from there about Danny, I always see them being very supportive of a hometown favorite, which is why I don’t see any need for other media outlets there to be snarky or whatever b/c they have to depending on what it is. Yes Ellen Burgettstown is on the only road that connects Ohio/WV/PA as I travel it everyday. While Burgettstown itself is a smal rural town it’s main attractraction is the Star Lake/Pepsi now Niagara ampitheatre with lots of lawn seating. They have been advertising this all day although they don’t mention Danny.

Danielle I think the publication that wrote that snarky article about Danny is one of those publications that tries it’s hardest to be edgy, so it just doesn’t view Danny as worthy enough for their praise. I find it interesting on the same day you run an article about the Milwaukee Music Awards you choose to write a snarky article about Danny Gokey, the one Milwaukee musician who will surely bring national recognition to the City of Milwaukee. He may be the best thing Milwaukee has going for it, considering you have built a monument to Fonzie who’s only claim to fame is that he PLAYED a character who was from Milwaukee. Danny is the real deal. NONE of the other artists on your list of artists up for the Milwaukee Musicians Award have national recognition, nor, I suspect, will they ever reach the level of fame that Danny Gokey already has. Danny Gokey’s future is very bright indeed.
I realize that you believe you need to play with the “cool” kids from Chicago (my hometown), New York, and LA, somehow believing that if you sound cosmopolitan enough you will “be like them”. To that end, you find it necessary to praise only those homegrown musicians who have some perceived edginess to them and dismiss those who have a midwestern, folksy bent to their artistry.
Let me suggest it’s okay to be who you are: a hip publication in a mid-size city writing about the great talent your city has to offer. No doubt many of those on the award list AND Danny Gokey, whose star is rising and is well on his way to becoming a major country artist, are all worthy of your attention and praise

I remember reading a post from Toni who said that Danny did a shout out to IHRT but the quality was so bad, it couldn’t be seen. So she posted what Danny said and I think he mentioned about the issues with international fans trying to buy his music were being ‘looked into’. Well the man from Milwaukee came through!!!
I am just so pleased I was able to buy his video and yes Gokeyguy, Danny does know how to project to the camera!!

Cheryl- good comment to that article. Honestly, I don’t think too many people, who are fans of Danny, will pay attention to that anyway(the article, that is). But if they feel they way that they do about him, then why even try to promote his show and his single on their site or whatever. I get that critics/reviewers aren’t gonna like everything that he does and they have a right to their opinions of that. I just don’t think that it helps in anyway for that certain publication to be snarky b/c it’s the “cool” thing to do b/c Danny isn’t up on their level of “edginess”.

Regardless, Danny’s going to be very well received at home by the people and fans that love him so that’s all that matters to me

Danielle You are right. As long as there are thousands of fans that love Danny and appreciate his talent, it does not matter what that publication says. Like you said, most people have probably not even read it and for those who have it still translates as promotion for the show!!!

Now you can see why I don’t go on the hater sites. I used to get very riled up, like i did after I read that article, and I would feel the need to respond to every criticism. I finally realized, as you clearly have, that not everyone is going to agree. Some people just find it pleasant to write the nastiest of things and there is no way I, or anyone else is going to change their minds. So, I do stay away from them.

Catching up on all the news, great to hear all that is happening with Danny. Interesting tho, I just figured when he went to visit all these stations they would start playing his song right away. Guess I do not understand….I agree with the one comment I am so glad to have had the opportunity to seen him in one of these close up visits. I do not think later we will ever get the chance to do that again. Really loved meeting him up close along with the band……

That is why I send out a shout to Jan, I am so glad you went to see Danny and thanks for sharing your time and thoughts when you were with Danny. Bet you are still flying high. Who was that who tried to get a close up the back side of Danny or was I imaging things lol you girls….

Think the venue in Milwaukee is a good idea, it will sure to be packed, that would be a very good thing. Cannot think of a more perfect place to celebrate his first album coming out but in Milwaukee where the most people EVER to come out for an AI in that shows history was in Milwaukee. Steph Do you think that promotion of the Clorox flu campaign was considered a Satellite Tour? Did Danny do something similar today, only perhaps for radio audiences to promote his CD? Or maybe even for TV audiences in markets across the country? At first I thought a Satellite tour meant it was being done on Satellite Radio like Sirius Radio and that it would be broadcast on their stations to those who subscribe. But, now I guess it might be more like what he did with Clorox.

Hi Sharon I agree with you on the venue in Milwaukee. I think it is perfect because you want it to be packed and if it was too large and not sold out, the story would be that he didn’t fill a room. This way the report will be that the room was filled to capacity and people were turned away. It’s much better if it is perceived that way!

Cheryl, no expert but that ran through my mind also. That today/tomorrow could be something like what we saw when Danny did the thing in NYC with remote hookups for the Clorox campaign. Just funny not to see some reports of what the interviews today were, assuming they ran live someplace.

As far as Danny on tour, just casually reading about other country artists when visiting sites for Danny tidbits, a lot of them do still visit smaller clubs on a fairly regular basis in addition to doing larger tours. If Danny is rotating in and out of the Sugarland tour, and that tour could be paced somewhat gently to allow for Jennifer Nettles to not overtax her voice — would not amaze me if he fits in some other dates along the way.

Both small ones. And larger, if he can go to Summerfest, the CMA Fest in June and any others. The ACM Awards show is sometime in April, it would be fabulous for Danny if he could be involved somehow with that. Maybe as a presenter, since his album will just be out and he’s one of the new members.

I think that Jordin did some shows with the Jonas Brothers. I don’t really think that Kris touring with the Jonas Brothers would be a good fit, even though it would probably make a lot of the tween fans happy.

The Jonas Bros probably sell a ton of tickets, Kris could do worse I suppose from a business standpoint. I just think it would be funny as his fans are so insistent he’s a true “artiste” vs. the Disney type artists who are supposedly all shallow & commercial. Not to mention what the Adam fans in the kradam community would have to say about it.
Probably just a twitter rumor, but still makes me laugh.

I do have to wonder about the older ones who constantly talk about how great of an artist Kris is, would think about that, if it were true. ok, I’m working on a little investigating. Josh Thompson is another new artist who just happens to be from the Milwaukee area also (Cedarburg, I think). His single is Beer on the Table. I just looked and FM106 (WMIL) added the song back in July when it first went for adds. The song has been getting pretty steady adds since then and is now #17 on the chart. So that’s about 6 months or so to climb the charts.

His album drops in two weeks and there will be a cd release party here at a 500 seat venue. It works the same as Danny, buy the cd at the door and get in, autographs after the show. Do you suppose Danny’s label is thinking an extra 500 capacity will be enough for Danny (over Josh)?

Toni, lol. I’m not sure a casual viewer would pick up that it was intentional in that part. Esp as the camera goes a little off ‘target’ and pans to the crowd before you come back to Danny from the more conventional viewpoint.

Ellen, yeah, it’s already pretty high already where I shoveled out what I could yesterday and Saturday. Not sure what I’ll do with another foot plus. But in general will just hunker down at home watching the snow as long as no power outages. Thankfully those are very rare where I am. Saw local tv station had a graphic up just now saying 14-20″ coming. Hopefully they are just over-hyping it.
Being stuck at home is good for Danny though. Lots of extra time to vote at CMT.com

That JoBros rumor came from a JoBros-related twitter. I noticed it as someone was tweeting asking mj about it, and she was saying surely not. Not sure if it’s true, but it made my evening reading that. Maybe Adam could tour with Justin B or Miley, just to make our fun complete

Nothing really meant against the JoBros–it just would be a riot to see that pairing given how arrogant many of the Kradison fans have been about Danny because he’s not edgy or cool enough for them. [ Go Sugarland! Who are just full of country cool points. ]
