Hey Everyone! Just wanted to stop in and say good morning. BTW – I am the first to post for once!
I haven’t posted on iheart in awhile. Lurking though! For those who don’t know, I got injured at work and messed up my lower back and my neck. I have been off of work since 12/18/09 and have been on short term disability in which I only get 60% of my pay.
Anyway – I absolutely love Danny’s new music video. I am so proud of him that his dreams are finally coming true.
Also to Ericka and Amy – I just saw the iheartdannygokey.com music player and I love it. I’ve been asking for Danny’s songs to be put on the website so we can listen to Danny while we are browsing on the iheart website. Thanks so much to Ericka and Amy for getting the music player on the website. Can this website get any better? I don’t see how it’s possible but I am sure Ericka and Amy will come up with something. I also wanted to say to the two of you – Thank you for all your hardwork you put into this website. I am very grateful that the two of you are running the website and I believe you guys don’t get enough credit for all that you do. So, thank you!

Great news that Danny music video to be added to GAC Top 20 Country Countdown as of February 1. I’ll bookmark the site for an easy access to vote.
Funny thing happened to me this morning as I was listening to MBD. Somehow my brain canceled the regular music and sampled some kind of techno beat, some really nice trance beats beneath Danny’s vocals. What can I say, there is an absolute madness in my head. hahaha
Also, listening to video from TrackChicTV where Danny talks about his music and his faith, made me realize how fitting Danny would be to record an audio book. For children or for adults, it does not matter. His voice and diction just demands attention.

I started lurking around Sept and my first post was not until much later this site is the very first fan site I have ever been on posting on and first time ever following someone this closely. Sometimes I do ask myself why but then I quickly think of all the feelings and emotions that his songs and voice transmits he puts his heart to any songs he sings, then his personality and his values, he is the full package. Lol at Elliot. I saw a couple of minutes ago that he did take the lead over Danny by 1%. But that him, Danny and Melinda are not too far apart in the voting. That makes sense IMO, they are the three most talented top three finishers IMO.
I am glad that GAC is putting Danny’s video on their voting poll starting Monday. I will make sure to vote for Danny. Hopefully a lot of Danny fans will vote and we can get him onto the countdown. We can spread the word around on Twitter and IDF so that more Danny fans know when to vote.
Even if we get Danny only to #20 on the countdown, that is still more exposure for him. And that exposure might help him sell more. Just like the video exposure he has gotten this week has helped him sell.
And GAC, unlike VH-1 and 106&Park actually plays all music videos on their countdowns in their entirety. Other countdowns cut some videos on the countdown very short but GAC plays the full videos of all of the songs in their countdown.
So it will definitely be good if we can get Danny onto their countdown and keep him there for a while.
I saw that Adam fans got Adam’s video for WWFM to the #1 on the VH-1 Top 20 countdown. That’s good for him, and it was his birthday yesterday. And I think last week that Kris was ranked #1 on the VH-1 Countdown and I believe Daughtry was ranked #1 on the Countdown before Kris was. It’s nice to see the Idols at the Top of Countdowns.

I think that Matt and Anoop have got some connections with people in LA. Anoop has been working with different songwriters, some I think live in LA. And I think that Matt has some connections in LA as well.
So I think they could have gotten invited to the Grammy’s through their connections. If Matt and Anoop go to the Grammy’s they will be there with Adam, Kris and I think Ryan and Randy as well.
I believe Carrie and Jennifer Hudson will be there too, it looks like there are going to be a lot of idols at the Grammy’s.
Hypothetically speaking….
I teach keyboarding and MS Office, and so my classroom is in a computer lab with 26 computers. Would I be able to cast a vote on each of those computers and have it count or would he be penalized in some way, as they are all hooked up to the same network. I don’t even know if I would have time to do it, as I can sometimes get really busy, but I am sure that I’d have time to cast a few extra votes.

I’m not sure. If all of the computers in the lab, have different IP addresses, you might be able to do that. Is there anyone around that is really technical and might know the answer to this question?
My gut tells me that they would have different ip addresses, but then I’m not 100% sure that it couldn’t be somehow traced back to the same place.
I actually have four separate computers at my house. I’m pretty sure I can cast a vote on all of those. lol.
I don’t think that GAC should punish the artist for the “cheating.” I just think that they should only give one vote per ip address. For instance, if they find that someone has been voting over and over, they could either just give that one vote, or not give that person a vote at all.

I think that if Danny would Tweet for people to vote for his video that he could get a lot of votes that way. But my concern about that is, that the haters will see his Tweet and plan to spam the poll to get him penalized, or vote for other artists so he can’t get on the countdown.
They did really mess up the charity poll thing he did and they spammed and trolled his official site once he announced it was out on Twitter. So I wouldn’t put it past them to try and hurt his chances to get on GAC’s Top 20 Coundown. So I am not sure if he should Tweet about it.
But maybe between the Danny fans at Ihrt, the Danny fans at IDF, and if some of us just post it on Twitter ourselves, we might be able to generate enough votes to get him onto the Countdown, without risking the haters messing things up for him.
I don’t know how many people regulary post at this site, or sometimes post on this site. If there are at least 20 of us here on Ihrt that could vote for him once a day, we could generate 100 votes for him in a weeks time.
And if we spread it around on Twitter or the Danny forum at IDF we might be able to get some more votes for him. And some of us might have more than one computer we can vote on which would help.
We might be able to rack up enough to get him on the Countdown. If we can just get him on the Countdown, that would be good for him. And maybe new people will see his video and start to vote for him.
That’s what I’m thinking, too, FOGS. It’s a shame that Danny fans have to worry about this at all. No other contestant has to deal with this. I know I can vote of the four computers here, and I will do that every day.
I’m afraid that Danny won’t realize or think about people doing that just to hurt him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did tweet about it. Normally, of course, that would be a smart move. But nothing is normal about Danny’s situation.

seems to me machines with different ip’s from the same building shouldn’t be an issue. that could happen at a school or office, or home and represent different people. and their rules don’t really say it has to be different people voting from different ip addresses, if they wanted that they could make you get an account to vote which doesn’t seem to be required when I just tried it.

Wonderful site. I wish DGO was like this, but I don’t know how they could replicate the connections I feel I’ve made at this site.
Isn’t it nice that there’s so much great things happening in Danny’s career we don’t have to go down that path that occurred this fall when we worried about “Danny being left out” at places where other idols where appearing. In fact I’m happy to report that for the first time I actually laughed when Randy Jackson said in that interview that Allison had placed third on AI. I know feel that while AI will be a huge help to Danny’s career, it will not limit or define him that he was third and didn’t win.
Maryann, I’m with you. I think a tour of Bosman’s brain would be a fascinating journey. Don’t stop taking us through your mind’s wanderings! I can’t say I think “deep” but I do have a decent depth in “feelin” others words. Its probably why I get all wound up in Danny-land……

It is shame that Danny fans have to worry about that. It’s sad when people will try and do stuff to tank someone’s career/shot of making it. But I feel like the Danny haters have been trying to do that to him all season long.
I wish that he could Tweet about it, without us having to worry about people trying to hurt him. At least when he Tweets about people buying his music, his haters can’t hurt him regarding that.
Maybe GAC will Tweet about it? I don’t think that a lot of Danny haters are following them.

I will plan on staying after school for 15 minutes longer each day this week to vote on each computer in the lab for Danny, unless I HAVE to do something else.
With the four computers at home, I should be able to get him about 30 votes per day. 30 X 5 (school days) = 150 votes.
Let’s hope it works out. My only other concern is that the GAC site could be blocked at work. I know they block MTV at the school (understanably), but I don’t think they block CMT because I accessed it at work the day his video first came out on that site.
We will see, but it seems like it should help.

I had looked at the extra numbers that Brian Mansfield got from Soundscan, and I am glad to see that even though he wasn’t in the Top 1000 in Itunes for a while, that Danny is still averaging 2,000 downloads a week.
Right now he has sold 19,000 downloads, but I think that number will rise since he made it back into the Top 1000 on Itunes this week, and has been in there for at least three days. Danny is currently #694 on the Itunes Top 1000 chart.
I could see him selling more than 2,000 singles this week, which should bring his total to over 20,000 downloads sold.
Then Danny’s fans just needs to get ahead of the haters – as we all did this week with his video release. Sure, there were the expected snarky comments by hardcore haters, but overall it was pretty mild – and it didn’t go on and on.
I saw the same silencing effect earlier with that horrible article from Wendy Pastoreck of EW. The same effect with Danny’s Grand Old Opry debute.
And watch, the haters will be out on Mar 2 – but we’re prepared.
We just all need to be very viligant about voting for Danny – and getting the word out to his fans.
Good Morning Jan, it is a slow morning on ihearties maybe because Danny has other things he is doing and off tour for a few days. Sounds like the band is glad to be home for awhile. I wish I could tell you, you will get over the empty nest thing but not really. I loved having Matt home with all his friends and then the band in the basement for 8 years. Then this house was really quiet, depressed for weeks. LOL Just will change, now I am waiting for grandkids LOL can you hear all these young people say please stop, OK i will but some day you will be there also. Have a good day w/your kids.

Good Morning everyone. Thought I would post a quick note that you can find out the IP address on any computer with an inquiry. Do a search in Windows Help..in mine it says:
Click to open Network and Sharing Center, click view status, click details. I would hate to see Danny penalized because we didn’t adhere to the rules, so I would sure check. I’m not a big fan of circumventing the rules because someone can usually tell.
It is a conundrum for sure, but if Danny doesn’t get the word out, people will not know about the voting opportunity.
Darn those haters. Have they nothing positive to do with their lives? It is a darn shame.
Can’t wait for the day, when they realize non of their malicious efforts stopped Danny from becoming a huge success.
Oh, and Amy… be careful. I’d hate to see you risk getting in trouble at work.
Old worry-wart me worries that the haters will vote repeatedly on the GAC site and get Danny “penalized”. I know there is definitely a way for a site to set up their voting format so that people can only vote once a day (or every 24 hours) and if their email name appears more often, it just does not count. Usually a window pops up and says You have already voted, or a similar message.
I’m thinking GAC isn’t at all worried because why would any fan of any artist want to jeopardize their favorite’s voting count on a country music website, so they are naive to the evil doings of some fans. But hey, this is Danny we are talking about and we all know how the haters follow him around and just make our lives miserable. IMO, it would have been better just to say only one vote a day will be counted, without saying that if people vote constantly, the ARTIST (in this case DANNY) will be penalized.
Maryann, I would think that if I stay after school is out, then it shouldn’t really matter, at least I hope. Why would they care?

I don’t know how many votes it would take for Danny to get in the Top 20. I actually think it might be better if he got into the Top 20 or top 10 as opposed to number 1 the first week he is out there. Would country peeps be irritated/resent it if he made it to number one so quickly?

I don’t think that Country people would be angry if Danny got to #1 very quickly. Especially since I believe the voting is strictly based on how many fans each artists has. There was a Country group called Due West who were on GAC’s Countdown for a while and who made it to #3 on the countdown.
They self released the single “I get that all the time” which made it to #3 on GAC’s countdown and they didn’t get a lot of airplay on radio. They never cracked the Top 40 or were close to cracking it like Danny is.
But their fans voted for them to land high on GAC’s countdown and people weren’t angry with them about it. GAC even had them on their countdown to talk with them a little about their single ranking high on the countdown. So Danny should be fine if he ranks high on GAC’s countdown.

I, as much as anyone, want to see him at the top. I am thinking if the IP’s are truly different and that is what GAC is watching…go for it. Bet they don’t check unless someone complains that something odd is happening.
Just for the record, it has now been a week since I saw his show and I am going through withdrawals! I’ve seen several mention his necklace & at KILT he said it was from H&M.
Not sure what to say, Amy. I am just thinking that some places monitor computer usage, and that kind of thing may flag someone and prompt an issue. Call me cautious.
I’d just hate to see you run into an issue. So, do only what you feel truly comfortable with. Lots of us will be voting for Danny.

Most of the worst haters seem to be Kradam fans or part of the ontd-ai, so I doubt they hang out much at GAC or CMT. If they took a whim to go interfering with Danny, suspect it would be like what we saw at the OS where ontd-ai crew piled in on the first night and then got bored and ran off to bother someone else
I don’t think we’ve seen much sign of haters voting on Brian Mansfield’s poll against Danny.
Maybe they should post a link to the GAC voting page at Danny’s OS, along with the other sites we mentioned.
They seem to be going strictly by ip address, and not user account. So any machines with different ips including phones or what have you should be fair game.

It’s still not showing up for me, though. Actually the old pic was made just 16 months ago. That’s just how fast children go from looking like little babies to looking like little children.

When I did a test vote for Brad Paisley’s video, I got a screen back that thanked me for voting. When I revisited the page to look for the voting link for Jikrada, it remembered I had voted and gave me this message:

Maryann, I think Danny is already on his way to being successful. That’s why the haters lurk. They are obviously threatened by him. Otherwise, they could care less.
And the truth is, Danny will always have people that do not like him. And there will always be public sites, polls,opinions, etc. That’s part of being in the public eye.
As I said earlier, we just need to get ahead of them. It’s unrealistic to think we can change their thinking. But we all can be proactive and blast public sites with our positive opinions, votes, etc.

Maryann, yes seems it must keep track of the ips that submitted votes. So if you go to another computer and it doesn’t recognize you as having voted, should be fine I would think.
I didn’t test what would happen if I had actually tried to vote for Brad Paisley’s video again. Not sure if it would have stopped me, or accepted the vote but put me into the penalty category — poor Brad, he wouldn’t deserve that so I didn’t try
Most of Adam’s and Kris’ fans are actually battling each other out. Last week Kris’ video on VH1 was #1, but this week it’s Adam’s – based on fan voting. I would venture to guess that most of them would be jockeying each other.
I also agree – I don’t think most haters would be hanging out on GAC or CMT – on an ongoing basis. And If Danny gets into the Top 20, that’s great. I rather not set the bar so high that the expectation is for him to debut at #1. That’ a lot of pressure the first time out.

WMZQ in DC is now also advertising a “Megapackage” of country acts. They show Sugarland in September, but just with “special guests” vs. listing Jake Owen and/or Danny.
Still pricy with the full package of 7 events even though they are all top acts worth seeing.

I just want to chime in with my compliments to Amy and Erika on how well they run this site. I actually was curious a few days ago and looked back in the iheart archives. Amy did such a wonderful job setting up this happy Danny place for us. And Erika does a superb job of keeping us all informed and adding lovely touches like the music player (can we say awesome!). And all you wonderful ihearties who show your Danny love at all hours and from every corner of the world. I really am grateful this place is here. Danny truly has the best fans.
FOGS does such a great job of keeping us up to date on spins and chart positions, this really is an education in the music business. I got to wondering why it is taking so long for MBD, or any other new song, to climb the charts. At our local station I noticed they mainly play the top 25 to 30 songs. Anything lower than that and I really haven’t heard it much. I wonder if the stations are just slow at adding new songs and once they eventually do it, that is when the songs start moving up the charts. Does anyone know how many stations have added MBD at this point?

Well, I cannot vote twice for the same artist. It returns sorry, you have already voted. But, if I disconnect entirely from the internet and then re-connect, I get a new IP address and it accepts the new vote for the same artist.
This is very strange. It is like what the web hosting sites like rapidshare and megaupload do. They allow a certain amount of megabytes download for free after which they place a time wait. Those who pay for the service, do not need to wait and can download as much as they can from the same IP address. But people usually do not wait for the time to run out, but just disconnect and re-connect, so when they re-connect they obtain a new IP address and can start downloading again for free until they again reach a free limit. So, companies that earn money, inter alia, based on IP address blocking, cannot prevent this abuse.
So, I suspect they might be able to see (and subtract votes) if there was a slew of votes from similar IP addresses that arrived in a short period of time (successive, repeated voting by one person), but I highly doubt they can track down a couple of votes (from the same person) from similar IP addresses that come in longer time intervals – not in a rapid, repeated succession.
Despite possible abuse from haters, I strongly believe Danny should tweet to vote for his video on GAC.
Also on VH1 where Adam is now no. 1 they allow as many votes as one can throw in. Pitched in a couple for Mr. Buble. Doubt it will make a difference though. I actually do not like his vocal, but once I was flipping TV channels and I saw him on Rachael Ray. He was witty and funny beyond belief.
Hi Bosman – I saw Michael Buble on RR too. Was that when he sang to that pregnant woman’s belly? So cute! I really like him.
BTW – just wanted to tell you I read your posts last night and agree. For me, it’s not so much about meeting Danny. But, oh, to hear that voice soar in person. I keep hoping my turn will come!

Oh well, here’s another observation about the charts. I noticed the top songs are being played at stations 50, 60 even 70 times each week (know wonder I am getting sick of hearing some of them). 8) MBD is played on our station about 18 times a week right now. I think this is typical for country music and MBD will continue to climb, especially now that the video is out and it is close to top 40. Yay! Keep requesting everybody!

milgokey, I do not remember all that was on the RR with guest Buble, but I remember a toy that sings when tummy-pressed and he made some voices and bleeps and was awesomely hilarious. Too bad for me that I do not enjoy his voice. But that’s just my taste, he is a superb singer.
And to clarify about meeting Danny. Sure I’d love that, but I have such great respect for him that I would not want to impose. He deserves privacy just like any other person and seeing how humble he is, he probably feels a bit uncomfortable when overly praised.

The only two that show with any details are the one in DC (Virginia) and Philadelphia, where Sugarland is one of the acts at each. Sugarland shows as also having two concerts in Ontario, but neither Jake Owen or Danny seems to be part of that. Billy Currington and another act I’ve never heard of are listed.

Hooray! I too just saw Danny’s video on GAC on my big screen TV. Oh what a happy delight for me. I was on my treadmill and just clapped my hands. No one else in the house to care so I came here to tell my great, fantabulous, wonderful, magnificent news.
I know, I know, you all are probably saying, “that’s nice,” we’ve already seen him.lol
Above is kind of silly, but it made me happy to see him. I’ve been listening to my country station off and on and GAC and that’s the first time for me to see or hear him.
I will vote for Danny every day too. I have two computers, a lap top and desk. Wonder if I could vote once on each one? I will have to check like Darla said to.

Bosman, I agree that even celebrities are entitled to privacy. But I can guarantee that Danny would ENJOY meeting you. He really loves meeting people.
I also do not care for Michael Buble. I like the kind of music he sings, and his phrasing is good (the way he sings), but I don’t like something about his voice. Not sure what it is. I like 80% of his voice, but on some words, notes, the range (or something) is missing for me.

Hi everyone! Maryann, I love to listen to “I Can Only Imagine” too. I especially love the “I Exalt Thee” part of it, where he is singing in counterpoint to the audience. It always just blows me away with how beautiful it is. Thinking about how being involved in church has influenced Danny brings back a lot of memories for me. I laughed when he talked about getting spanked in the ladies room, I have been there! I still remember the “uh oh” when I would see my mom’s head swivel around and catch me cutting up with my friends. Sometimes I’d just get a “straighten up” look, or she’d make me come sit with her. But every once awhile, she’d point to the exit and I’d have to start that long march back to the ladies room. My mom was very loving, but she did hold to the view that spanking did tend to improve a child’s memory.
Amy, I was cracking up at Elliott getting all wound up about that survey too! I know he’s just kidding around, but it’s funny. Danny is my favorite of the three, but I also love Elliott and Melinda’s voices. They are all amazing.
Surf, I agree with your comments about getting out in front of any hater activity as much as we can. We have so many people here who have a lot of knowledge about the facts related to Danny, and there are so many good things to say about him that people who try to say insulting things about him just end up looking silly, I think.
Milgokey, you asked how many stations have added Danny. There are 53 shown on Mediabase. I keep a list of them updated on DGO.
Speaking of DGO, I’m trying to be more active there, and I hope others will too if they can. I think casual traffic will pick up there as he keeps gaining visibility. I wonder when the video answers to the questions will begin, that’s going to be fun to see.
About his latest tweet, I wonder what he is thinking that he needs to change about himself in order to succeed. I don’t know what it could be, maybe it’s having patience to deal with all the bureaucracy that he has to deal with and with all the players who have a say in his career. I think that would be tough, and he is the type of person who would rather do something than talk about it, so I can imagine that it must get frustrating sometimes.

I wonder if Danny had any idea, when he was so patient with me in signing multiple photos, how the energy he was putting out into the world was going to return tenfold? Sorry to sound New Age-y. Hi, if the question regarding IP address has not been answered yet here is what I know. Each computer in a network has a unique IP address, just like house address. If more than one computer are using the same IP there will be an error message saying “IP conflict”.

Hi Ana! I have a computer (desktop) at home and at work. But I also have a netbook. Not sure if the netbook would have a separate IP address from the desktop? I’d have to unplug my desktop from my DSL and plug in my netbook, though. Not sure it is worth the hassle.

And yeah, Josie, Elliott, Danny and Melinda are all awesome singers! Melinda was my favorite her year by a country mile, and Elliott was my second favorite his year. Elliott had some stage presence issues his season, which was understandable. He really didn’t have much performance experience. But Elliott Yamin’s Moody’s Mood for Love is absolute perfection:

Mediabase monitors 227 stations, presumably the larger ones (??) and only 53 have added MBD so far. So does that mean only the spins from monitored stations are counted? It also looks like stations only add 3 or so songs each week. Do they have a limit to how many they can add? Sorry, my analytical brain is trying really hard to figure out how all this works. I am spending the evening pondering radio spins…hmmm.

Amy, I responded to Danny’s tweet and included Elliott’s correct twitter id, and I saw later that others did too, so he will probably see one of those, or Elliott will. As you know, I never watched any season before S8, but I had looked up some of the past people so I’d know who people were talking about, and I really was enchanted with both Melinda and Elliott.
Milgokey, I find the whole radio adds/spins thing interesting too. I am still learning about it. I added up the number of spins for last week from the 53 stations (some were just added so had none), and got 368. On the mediabase song chart, the reported spins for last week was 366. Pretty close, but I’m not sure how they do it. Someone (FOGS maybe) was saying that they thought that plays on something like the GAC channel would count toward spins. I am not sure but I do hope so.
I don’t get the sense that there are any hard and fast rules about how radio stations add songs. There are “auto adds” in mediabase, which means that if the station plays it a number of times I guess mediabase assumes it is de facto added. But mostly it appears that the station reports them as added. I would guess that there’s some behind the scenes negotations that go on with the record label that have to do with promotions to get stations to add the songs when the label wants them to. I’m sure each radio station must have its own strategy for what music to add also. And of course they want to please their local listeners, so I do believe that polite contact is helpful. It must be, because I see artists encouraging their fans to reach out to radio stations.
And then there’s the added factor of audience impressions, and I think that’s a big factor in how he moves up the chart. It’s most helpful to be played on the bigger stations during “prime time” hours. But my understanding also is that if his spins go down two weeks in a row, then the single goes “recurrent” and isn’t on the top hits charts anymore. So, the label needs to try to manage this to keep him moving up but without taking too much risk of pushing the big stations too soon, I think. I really hope that the stations in Nashville that he visited last week will add him in this next round, along with others. IIRC I think it’s usually Monday that this is done.
If anyone sees any errors in any of my comments about spins/adds, please don’t hesitate to correct me. I’m very interested in learning more about this.
