Danny is still #42 on the allaccess chart but he is up 31 spins for the week. He’s got 392 spins on the 7 Day Rolling Chart right now. So more than likely he will end the week with at least 400 spins on the published chart.
I am glad that he is getting airplay on GAC. On average they will play videos(including new releases) 2-4 times a day. So Danny could defintitely end up getting decent airplay on that channel.

FOGS, that’s great. Do you think the play on GAC or CMT counts for spins? I read somewhere it might, but not sure if that’s on all charts. Individual spins add up, but also seems like that could help with the “audience impressions” if viewers of the music video get calculated in there somehow.

I think I read somewhere that video spins/video adds are counted on mediabase. But I am not sure if they are counted separately from radio spins or factored into the radio rankings along with radio spins and audience impressions.

GAC is now playing Danny’s music video on their channel. They play music most of the time on their channel, so there is a good chance that Danny’s video will usually get played at least twice a day (if not more) on their channel.

Maryann, no, not a tour with Alan Jackson. But Danny is going to be performing at an event with Alan next month. It seems to be a big convention of country radio broadcasters, and Alan and Danny will be singing at a lunchtime concert sponsored by Sony. Brooks & Dunn will also be there, but maybe a non-singing appearance in their case.
Erika posted an article about it here late yesterday after we picked up on it.
As far as the “major tour” starting in April, the only named act I’ve come across is Sugarland based on the concert listing in Philadelphia that we ran across last night
With the hater who seemed to be semi-confirming that was Danny’s tour news at TWOP, based on what he/she implied was some other source of info as he/she tried to explain it away as significant for Danny. ha.

I think that either next week on the Top 20 Country Countdown or the week after GAC will announce that Danny is on their voting page. And then we can vote online for his video to make the countdown.
We can only vote once per day per IP address. They state on the site, that if people are cheating then the artist gets penalized. We definitely don’t want that to happen to Danny.
I think that you can put up to 5 different nominees on the voting poll. But I think that if you are only interested in one video making the countdown then it would be better to just vote for that one video to make it.
And not to vote for other videos. If a lot of us voted for only Danny’s video he might have a better shot of making the countdown, then if we voted for Danny’s video and other videos, which could cancel him out and keep him off the countdown. But there is the option of voting for more than one video if anyone wanted to do that.
Someone said on Twitter that Danny’s video got played on GAC this morning, about half an hour ago. Hopefully they will play his video again today.

That is certainly a change from the way things are done at VH1, which is probably what most of us are used to doing. When he goes up for vote, perhaps we should keep reminding people of the one vote per day rule.

We can vote for Danny once a day. It’s okay if we keep repeating voting for him as long as we only give him one vote per day. We can vote for him five days a week, every week if we want but we can’t give him more than one vote a day.
If anyone tries to vote for him more than once per day he could get penalized. But it’s okay to vote everyday in a week, just as long as we only give him one vote per day.
Yes I think I understand that. Maybe I am asking for trouble, but since Danny haters have been so virulent, I am wondering what would stop them from continually voting for him, and purposely get him penalized. Maybe I am being paranoid, but it continues to amaze me, how these people (who supposedly hate DAnny) continually listen to anything related to him, just to spew their hatred.. Hi all, been reading the last several days and really happy for Danny if it is true he will tour with Sugarland, Jake Owen. Is a great opportunity for him, this really will give him some good experience and exposure. Along with that there will be alot of hate out there, it is amazing evan with the video what is the problem. Good news. Danny’s album is today seriously moving up on amazon.com. When I made my two orders last week he was hovering around 500 on the sales rank, this morning he was 220 and now 184. He is at 22 in the country category. Video release really moved things.
I hope Danny sings I will not say goodbye on AI, releases it as the second single and makes the video for it. I am not hoping much, am I? I expected a lot, but with IWNSGB Danny, for me, topped his most moving moments in WHTM and YASB.
I was asked last night about my agreeing sometimes with windmills. I do sometimes because he/she brings a perspective that I as an ardent fan often overlook. I like his/her fatalistic approach because it sort of helps “keep things real” but in reality this fatalistic approach that Danny would be an “epic fail” actually proves that Danny is already quite huge.
I do not know much about the country scene, but I am definitely glad that it seems that Danny is not touring on his own. Funny thing, I was never a concert type of person. I am 35 and I’ve only been to 3 or 4 concerts in my life. I imagine that going to his concert would be a moment of a lifetime for me. And it is so ironic because I earned and saved lots of money and could easily travel around the world right now, but my family situation prevents me. My God, will things ever change?
I am happy for all of you who got to meet him. I actually do not care that much about meeting him, but watching and listening him perform live is definitely a dream. :embarrassed:

Bosman, and others –you have to go see the video that Erika posted from Kansas City of IWNSG–Its a great performance AND they taped Danny talking about how the record label wants IWNSG to be the 2nd single–we just have to get MBD to #1 (Danny says laughingly) he says the two songs are a balance of how he feels now–as Erika posted, he will not say goodbye to Sophia–”it will be continued” when he can join her in heaven…..Awwwww, I just want to give that man a huge hug.

Bosman, while watching Danny on video is awesome, watching him in person is indescribable–he so connects with the audience and the quality and tone of his voice is not contained by a microphone—Even in a gymnasium is was great, at the radio tour, I sat in awe. Its why the AI judges fawned over Danny’s vocals on the show. Can anyone help me better describe it? And then there’s the factor of seeing him in person.

Not a whole lot of information on this radio station in Gettysburg PA regarding their contest to watch AI with Danny and then watch him perform a mini-concert. I’m assuming the Friday might have been today so it’s already a done deal.
What really surprises me is that this contest is open ONLY to people who text. I have no idea how many people text but I would imagine just as many people DON’T text who would have liked to have a chance to win a ticket to the event. Why wouldn’t they just have the contest open for people to call instead of text, or at least both?!
Jan, Danny’s ability to connect to his audience is because he has the charisma or stage presence to make every single person feel special. It’s that simple!

All I can say, is that it gave me chills. The tone of his voice is just exquisite.
I will never forget my experience of walking into that tiny radio studio, and listening to him sing. His voice can be soft
in a manly way, and then suddenly soaring with a rough raspy edge. I found it to be really unique.
I just sat their in awe. I’ll share a personal thought I had, since I think it will be received fine here, in this safe community of Danny fans…
I thought this guy has the voice, heart and face of an angel, and is truly blessed. That, he knows he has this gift, and is called to fulfill a greater purpose through this gift. I also remember thinking, I have never felt a stranger with more welcoming eyes, and a more loving persona.
So, there you have it, from mushy me! Funny thing is Bosman, I too was happy to sit on the sidelines and appreciate just Danny being Danny. I didn’t really have a desire to meet him. Never saw an AI concert. Wasn’t high on my list of priorities. It was a great experience though, because it is a really special experience to see someone with such amazing gifts. So, if your situation ever changes, try to make it happen.

Shirl, you may be right about Danny’s charisma–but I think I follow the line of thinking that’s more similar to Maryann–….he just REALLY has the ability to connect with people and that incredibly soulful voice–its got so much texture/variability.
But as Cindy has said awhile back, lets pray that he keeps his life in balance when he hits the big time. Cause, the BIG time is coming!

Marilyn, if you are on here lurking, go back to that same supermarket in a day or two and you will see the magazine! It is called Country Weekly and some stores are slow to get it on their stands. Some stores have the new issue for next week out, while a lot still have last week’s issue up.
Steph, it’s not possible to get the magazine online through their website. It used to be possible to get a subscription to Country Weekly and possible to get a one-issue copy or a back issue copy. They did away with all of that a couple years ago to keep costs down (so they say).
when i went to the store yesterday with my mom they had the new country weekly one out.becky got one and is going to mail it to me.

Josie, thanks for the link to Matt’s interview. Its pretty clear that Matt and Danny have a deep friendship–I really thought the simulated hug that Matt gave to Danny was adorable.
I saw that item on eBay, Rachel. There was also the pic of Danny sitting in the chair, signed, that went for $22. This is the pic Danny usually has with him to sign for fans who are lucky enough to see him on the radio promo tour. I should watch to see if there are any more so I could get one for myself. $22 isn’t a bad price to pay for an autographed photo of him. To think that some people have this item and would give it up amazes me. If I had the pic signed, I would have it framed and sitting where I could always see it.
Yes jannikas and Maryann, I understand what you’re saying re the tone of his voice. That was the first thing I noticed about him. I can only imagine how it sounds live and without speakers.
I sometimes actually feel “guilty” that I enjoy his singing too much. And it is strange, I feel no sexual attraction to him, I would have admitted it if it were the case, coz no point in hiding such things, but his soul attracts mine.

The kind of soul connection that you are talking about has nothing to do with sexual attraction. I have been fortunate enough to experience it with three friends, one female and two males. The experience transcends words. You just feel this soul connection. See, I’m repeating myself! LOL! But I really can’t explain it. It’s something you recognize when you experience it.
I think Danny is an attractive man, but I’m not sexually attracted to him. Which is a good thing, since I’m old enough to be his mother.
I occasionally indulge in some fangirlishness here at iheart. But at its core, what attracts me to Danny and causes me to faithfully follow his career and post on the Internet (something I have never done before) is his VOICE! It’s unique and it moves me.
By the way, I briefly met Danny at a meet & greet. What struck me is how ordinary and extraordinary he is at the same time. In some ways he comes across as the average Joe-next-door. At the same time, there is something different and special about Danny. He really SEES people.
Jan, if you are still on I do hope you and Toni get to see Danny up close. If you have not meant him you will find him so comfortable in who he is and a hunble young man.
Such a talent, I have not been this excited about any entertainer in many years. What a privilege and opportunity to meet him, my husband now is a believer he is sold on this Danny Gokey I have been yaking about since last year.
You were talking about your son my 32 year old could not believe I was actually going to see him. Mom, Mom now calm down and enjoy yourselve and get to know the band too! And we did, Def and Brandon are great. We really would like to meet them all again, just thankful for meeting him now before his career takes off and it will.

Ellen, I know what you mean, I have a friend like that. It’s kind of an unusual friendship. He’s 13 years younger than me and we’re both happily married, all four of us are friends but he is my best friend, besides my husband. Danny has the same kind of strength of character that I admire about my friend. I wonder if he understands how much people admire him for the kind of person he is, and not just because he’s a celebrity singer from the world’s most popular show. I hope he does. I think he has an incredibly beautiful voice and I love the intensity and passion of his performances – I think he’ll go far. However the winds blow in the music industry though, I think he’ll be fine. He’ll make beautiful music and he’ll help people.
By the way, mj has the article up about Danny appearing with Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn in her second headlines thread of the day. One brief little hater comment, but mostly it’s Cook fans with their noses out of joint about Adam fans getting excited over his concert. Same song, different verse.
Well Ellen and Sharon, I think that the qualities that Danny exhibits and which you described are exactly not the qualities that young adults with ranging hormones want or need. What they usually want and need is an entertainer who stokes and caresses their ego. The more heartless, the better.
Sarcasm-free Danny Gokey cannot do that. He caresses their soul, but that is not what they need or want. It makes them uneasy, perhaps even queasy.
They want to indulge in hedonistic music, farting, phat beats and wide, sheep-sounding vibratos. That makes them fat and happy. Of course not all singers are like that, but today most are.
No wonder they see Danny’s humility as cheesiness. And who can blame them when instant gratification is shoved down their throats every waking moment of their lives.
By the time they grow up the music they listened with servile abandon will have emptied most of their heart. Sure they’ll seek solace in sarcasm, never knowing that it will only serve to increase the emptiness inside.
Too bad for them that they chose not to see Danny as a true heart whisperer.

Hi Sharon, I have met Danny and I agree that its an incredible experience. When Danny appeared in Madison on 1/12/10 there was SO much great stuff posted you may not have seen the Recaps I wrote about the Q106.3 radio concert. Its similar to your and your husband’s experience: my husband is a also a big Danny fan. My first posting at Iheart came around the time I was getting excited about taking my husband to the AI Live Tour in September in Madison, WI. I wrote a recap for that too but at that time I was too chicken to try to see Danny at the lines by the buses before the shows. (I still hadn’t accepted that I was so fangirlish over an AI contestant. Obviously, I’ve taken the oath since then!)
And then there was gracious Pam organizing us to go to the Grafton Christmas Parade and Concert…..

Well, Bosman, you may be on to something about why the haters feel threatened by Danny. But Danny does have some young fans, and some of the haters are older adults. I suspect that what haters have in common is the heartless sarcasm and emptiness inside. (What passes for humor in the U.S. I’ll never understand. I guess I just don’t get it.)
Anyway, heart whisperer is as good an explanation for the appeal of Danny as anything else that I’ve heard.
Danny is still in the Top 1000 on Itunes. I believe that right now he is 571 Top 1000, and 84 on the Country chart. Earlier today I saw him ranked at like 521. The music video is helping him by giving him more exposure.
The highest I saw him yesterday was at 495 and then he slipped back down the chart and then went back up the chart. I am glad that the video is keeping him in the Top 1000.
Also I noticed that on the AI site, they have Danny under the special guests section for Season 9. I think that this might mean that Danny will be coming back to perform on Season 9.
He’s the only person under there right now, and there isn’t any information under there about him, except for his music video. But I think this might mean he will be one of the special guests coming back for AI season 9.

Josie, that is interesting about your “soul connection” friendship with the married man who is 13 years younger. One of my 3 “soul connection” friendships is with a guy who is 10 years younger than me. Our (now former) coworkers didn’t understand the friendship — they thought something must be going on. I am friends with his wife — in fact, I attended their wedding in Syria. I can’t explain the “soul” thing, but I know that the first time we got together after work (at a Wendy’s of all places), we talked about our respective childhoods and shared some deep, deep stuff.

I have seen Danny get a few more spins on a few Canadian stations a little while ago. I am glad to see him get some spins on those stations, a lot of them have high market ranks. I think that it would be good if he could go up there and visit some of the stations as apart of his radio tour.

Hello! Steph you posted about Danny stopping by Syracuse that is only 2 hours from where I am its even closer than Rochester, would be my luck that Danny will be coming around my local station just as Jan and I will be in NYC being tourists but maybe not since we are a medium market. So I do have some entries for the exclusive meet and greet and will have to say some prayers until they announce the winners it is on 2/1. Jan i don’t have an iphone just an ipod no photo feature and I am somewhat computer challenged so pictures and etc might have to wait until Thursday night when you and I return from NYC to my house.

Ellen, I think there are different reasons behind the hater mentality. I think that part of it is that some people unfortunately never develop beyond the junior high school stage of desperation to align with “the cool kids”. Unfortunately in the AI internet bubble, the “cool kids” are mostly people like Michael Slezak and Kristen Baldwin, who are going to get more hits on their sites by getting people chanting slogans and insults. Another part of it is that I think that people with personality disorders are attracted to this kind of thing because they can attack people without fear of repercussions, and it excites them to get people upset. I don’t believe they actually care one whit about Danny, it’s the fact that other people do that provides an opening for them.
Along the same lines, there are different reasons for the appeal. For me, I love Danny’s singing, and I grew fond of him and care about what happens to him (I think defending him so much is part of what got me so invested), and it is fascinating to watch the launch of a new artist, I’ve learned so much about the music business as a result of following this. It has been really interesting. And of course it’s fun being part of this fan community!
FOGS, I’m glad too to see that the video is making an impact. That’s also great about him being listed as a special guest. Can’t wait to see him back on the show, that’s going to be so exciting!

Toni, I own a little house in upstate NY, tempting to go up there and check how it’s doing, lol. Looks like Danny is hitting a mix of big and smaller markets if he’s going to Syracuse and Rochester and to Gettysburg PA. Wonder what else is coming up. Would sure be nice if his schedule were updated with more advance notice at his sites. As much as we bemoan that though, his site is updated a lot more than some others I see where the info is months out of date.

Jan, yes I went to the show at Coyote Joe’s which was a pretty big country western music/dance club & bar. Both Amys came (Amy from iheart, and aek), as did Connie and Lori and Darla who sometimes post here.
Danny, Mallory Hope, David Nail and Phil Vassar were all performing there that evening.
Also what I want to say is that I think that music degenerated big time since 50s and 60s. Each new decade pushed boundaries further. Many new genres emerged, but somehow the magic of music just dissipated.
I think that today almost 90 percent of music is produced just to satiate low passions. I mean in 50s and 60, I would say 90 percent of songs were heartfelt songs, meaningful and sincere.
These days, 90 percent of songs are produced to champion animalistic drives and instincts. I think that music is bound to continue spiraling down.
Yeah, Jan, the likelihood of our getting advance notice is going to get slimmer as Danny gains in popularity. I think we need to keep close tabs on Pastor Pruitt’s Twitter account. I’m going to start doing that!

Steph, you should do it since you never know the house might need to be tended to. LOL. If only we knew when it is, I would think if it is after the Rochester concert so that would mean he would be coming towards Albany. On 2/2 Rachel good luck with seeing Danny in the AM. Danny must be flying that day to Rochester since it is at least 14-15 hours by car and he will be at the Rochester station at 4pm.
Does everyone know what 2/2 also stands for it is Punxsutawney Phil day so if the groundhog sees a shadow it is 6 more weeks of winter lets hope he does not see his shadow. OK sorry that has nothing to do with Danny but I have had enough of this frigid cold.
Betty I too would like to know about Danny pre-idol days what was his dream before even thinking about idol. I have often thought of what an uplifting experience it would be to attend an FB service .

Jan, that evening the doors opened at 7. I got there a little after six as Darla had suggested going early. Several of the iheart folks came earlier than that, and were able to sneak in and watch soundcheck and meet Danny.
As far as seeing the show though, I think it varies. Didn’t Danny’s show sell out that smaller Legends club in Ohio? Coyote Joe’s was a very big club, I think we got have got by getting there later than we did, as far as tickets and getting a good spot to watch the show go. Another time, I’d probably rather have grabbed a table so we weren’t standing around all evening. (Since it was a dance club, there was limited seating anywhere near the stage.)
