I just read Danny’s timeline and saw all the dirty and sexual tweets he was getting from the ONTD people. Some of those tweets were X rated. I think a lot of those haters are really secretly obsessed with Danny and actually want to do those things to/with him, but they cloak their desire in hate. That’s the only explanation I can think of for why someone would be so obsessed with someone they can’t stand. They are probably crushing but can’t admit it because it’s not “cool” or something. If I hated someone I would just ignore them. They really are pretty obsessed with him.

OMG! i just found out that there’s a debit/ATM card here in the philippines that has a VISA logo so i think it can be used with PayPal. i’d be applying for one soon so i can buy stuff internationally. i’ll first buy an itunes gift card so i can purchase danny’s single from itunes. then hopefully i can buy danny’s autographed cd through e-bay. i’m so excited!

The ONTD are so silly; I agree with Helio, I think a lot of them are truly closet fans or are attracted to him, but could never admit it. Why would you waste your time tweeting sex tweets toward someone otherwise?

Does anyone know how many current unofficial Danny fansites there are on the internet and/or twitter?
Asking this, because after seeing a post Lizzy made on DGO, I was prompted to think, that if all the Danny fans were on the ‘same page’ (so to speak), we could make a difference for Danny. You know, making request to our local stations, answering polls, giving positive feedback on the country blog sites etc.,.

Too bad there isn’t some coordination of efforts. Thinking most should be figuring this out for themselves, but who knows?
Suppose, this is what the official site is for. However, that is going to take some time. Especially, since it looks to me as if not that many people have bothered to find their way there yet.
I still think there is an issue with that google query search. It is moving up, but not fast enough.
In fact, if I pretend to be clueless (don’t snicker too hard
) and do a search for ‘Danny Gokey Official’, I actually find a couple defunct fansites before I even see the Official Site. Not so cool.
Latrece, saw your message just when I was logging off. Had to come back and compliment your efforts. Did you know that Chinese and Finnish are considered to be the most difficult languages to learn?
Now that I’m going away for only couple of days it’s better to use “Näkemiin”, because it indicates that we’ll be in touch soon. That other sentence went a bit wrong and it should be “Hyvää Päivää” (Have a nice day).

This is the largest Danny site I know of (for the US, I’ve seen some for Brazil, China, etc also). There are also threads at idolforums, the official AI site with varying amounts of activity. Not a lot lately, in comparison but some.
And then there are quite a number of people who post to Danny’s myspace and facebook, in addition to those who can be seen at his official site. I wouldn’t forget about those, as it may just be easier for them to follow him from those environments if they are already active FB and myspace users. Apart from here, the FB and myspace seem like the biggest sites to me. He usually gets 50-100 comments or other actions from people when a new item is posted to the FB, for ex. Rarely by people whose names I recognize from anywhere else.

This is a really nice website, good clean format, easy to navigate. The person who runs the site is very dedicated to Danny, and very friendly. We emailed a couple of times but for some reason the site never really got off the ground and there’s not much in the forum, unfortunately.

Re Googling:
First, Danny’s official site NEVER comes up for me when I google him, but I still get that article written by some religiously-connected group back in January about his audition.
Second, yesterday, tweets started showing up very high on the list (above the iheart site). I don’t mean Danny’s twitter link. I mean individual tweets to Danny were automatically scrolling through in a high-up section of the page (I think second or third item from the top). I think these might have been the dirty/sexual tweets that Danny was sent yesterday. I remember one asking another, “How do you know that Danny is a good l*y?” (Forgive me, everyone, for being graphic.)
What I want to know is, how did those folks get their tweets to show up very high on a google search, and Danny’s management is still struggling to get his official site link to show up?

Thanks for those links guys. This appears to be a complicated web. the only conclusion I have come to, is that the man himself should flag us all (regardless of vehicle) by asking us fans to request his single directly from our local stations.
On a side note, thanks so much for reminding me of that site, Shirl! I just figured out my perfect way to fill the one void I feel is missing here… MUSIC. I opened the music player over there and am now enjoying posting here, all awhile enjoying all Danny’s music. JUST SPLENDID!

The proprietor of that site, really has done an amazing job. Yet, I see there isn’t much traffic there at all. Fascinates me how some sites succeed and others crumble.

Enough of my ranting. Off to call my station.
I think this time of the year is a bad gage of traffic on websites. A lot of people probably aren’t available. Nothing personal – nor is it due to a lack of interest.
Just look at IHEART. It’s actually has been very quite – considering the frenzy of activity that is usually on here. Even a lot stalwart “GOKEHEADS” haven’t been here consistently.
Got to keep in mind, that last week and this week are pretty much a wash. Last week, radio stations were immersed in Christmas music. This week, they are immersed in doing end of the year recap. And many are also doing end of the decade reviews. And I would figure most of the DJs Danny met during the radio tours, aren’t even available. A lot of people are taking time off, away from home, spending time with family, friends.
The flurry of activity will pick up in Jan, once people are back in their normal routines. And that’s when Danny will be more successful reaching out to people with tweets, etc. He will have his Grand Old Opry performance. Then there will be the new Season of AI in a few weeks – and the Idols will be back in the news. And I would think the video premiere of MBD would be shortly.

) I do think Danny’s video of MBD will tell a story but I don’t think he will be part of that story, if you know what I mean. It will play out around him or behind him, but he will be in the foreground as though he is telling the story as he sings the lyrics. I think that is how a concept video would play although I could be wrong.

My local paper has a “best in entertainment” review, and their first choice for best album is “The Here and Now” by Sam and Ruby. Their comments:
“This Nashville duo has been deemed exotic because of their ethnicity — Ruby Amanfu’s a black woman from Ghana; Sam Brooker’s a white dude from Wisconsin. However, their blend of acoustic folk, country and soul sounds homespun, as though they’ve been making music together for a lifetime.”
So there is another white dude from Wisconsin in Nashville doing country/soul (as well as folk) music.

I’m glad everyone is in a good mood today (other than missing new Danny news.) It would be cool to hear more about John and Danny’s “Great Adventure” in Chicago….
I did request MBD yesterday from my Madison radio station and it wasn’t played Sunday or Monday (well I stopped looking by 10PM–I’ll go back and check). It was very frustrating, but I think Helio is right, things will turn around when the video is out. I’m also thinking that the Madison station is more reserved because they still haven’t nailed down the date for the Gokey Radio tour.

aww. I don’t see Danny on the main Fox News home page, but if you go to their main entertainment page his new interview video is up their under Latest Entertainment Videos on the right.

I guess we won’t find out until tomorrow how many singles Danny sold his first week. MBD’s is currently at #103 on Itunes country songs chart. In order for the sales to pick up his song really needs to be played on the radio and he needs that music video out ASAP. Looks like he may come in at #52 or 53 on Billboard country songs chart which is about the same as last week and only based on radio airplay not sales. The only chart based on radio airplay and sales is the Billboard hot 100 and Danny will not be on the chart. I get a little frustrated because he was moving upward on the adds, spincrease and taking off charts and then Christmas hit and he hit a brick wall. I hope his label knows what they are doing releasing his single right before Christmas.

Lizzy, have to say I am very confused on the whole chart thing. I thought there was a freeze for two weeks starting before Christmas, yet it seems that there are still radio airplay charts being updated before we even get to New Year’s? Don’t get it.

Steph, I’d seen the photo of Danny slouching on the couch before. Danny should win a Best Dressed Man of the Year award. He has incredible style and really seems to enjoy clothes. I would love to see him start a line of mens’ clothing. He seems quite fashion-conscious but in a very manly way. He could wear a paper bag (or nothing!) and still look great, but he has really learned how to dress. Either that or he has a very talented stylist.

Shirl, the fansite you mentioned earlier today,`Star` I really like-It was one of the first I found before iheart-I believe that`s the site which has the very touching interview with Sophia`s sister? The twitpic of the DM gave me an idea-you`ll know what I mean, Shirl! I`m so glad you all seem to be getting Danny`s single played or at least added to the stations playlist- I guess we`ll start again after the New Year! There`s a lot of promises-but, you know the saying, `actions speak louder than words`!! I hope there is some way we can pre order the album here-I have a mix of music playing on my laptop-which has a superb sound system btw! WOW – great clip of Danny on Fox News Network. I’m surprised we all missed that over the weekend. Amy needs to post that one. I also posted on Danny’s official site and I see it has been posted under the Idol headlines at MJ’s. That’s great you emailed Michael J. at WMZQ in DC. Michael J has been filling in for Boxer in the morning but he usually is on in the afternoons plus he has a show on WPOC in Baltimore also. So if WMZQ starts playing MBD’s, I’m sure Baltimore will also.

Thanks for mentioning that about Michael J. I could have sworn I heard him today on WPOC but was thinking I must be nutty as he was down in Rockville. And I was extra confused hearing him in the a.m. yesterday til I realized their schedules were all mixed up from the holidays.
Hopefully if he does play it, one of us will find out to thank him profusely. And insist he do it again, of course. (I’ve noticed also the Balt and DC stations seem similar, some of their website content is exactly the same.)

There were some tweets coming out of Fox today about that interview with Danny. I wonder if they just put it on the web today, but it aired on tv on Saturday or their Sunday early show since they mentioned as an upcoming event that he would be at the Packers-Seahawks game.

We need to all remember that Danny is surrounded by established professionals in the industry – who know what they are doing. RCA Nashville is a major conglomerate – not some small, indie label. And we all know Mark Bright’s proven track record. And Danny was always a favorite of 19E. They never threw him under the bus – as they have known to do with other Idols.
It is still a good 2 mos before the album is released. MBD needs to build that momentum for the album. As Brian Mansfield said, it’s never a good sign if a label releases a 2nd single prior to the album’s release. Danny’s highest chart position on the Country Charts so far was #24 only after a few days, and while he was competing with holiday music. That is pretty darn good for a new artist. He has gained spins. He doesn’t have a video or an album out yet. They have not started the national promotion.

Just watching some of the old videos of Danny singing It’s Only at the Dream Center and thinking that this would be great for a second return visit to AI during the Idol gives Back special. I think if they gave it the whole gospel choir treatment it would bring the house down ala the 2nd season coronation songs at the finale. Try to imagine if you will the (i know its hard) the music starting and Danny center stage in a suit-no tie moving through the first 3 verses of the song and then hitting the chorus of It’s only Looove and the choir starts in building along with him to a crezcendo(?)then cutting themselves off to leave his voice only on a final Love. EPIC!! Mega bucks and a great Itune download video.
But of course his first visit need to be in early Feb singing MBD and talking up the album.
Of course I’m bored tonight so my imagination is taking over but it would be great to watch.
I think It’s Only would be perfect for Idol Gives Back. His second single should definitely be a romantic ballad though–or Tiny Life. The second single should coincide with his album’s release in March.

Oh I don’t believe we will see It’s Only released back to country radio as it really will resonate much better on Christian radio where I do believe that they will attempt to Cross market Danny. But in order to do the Idol gives Back they like to have watercooler moments so none of the performers usually do their current music. So my belief is that Danny gets one visit to promote and if he gets invited back for the special it will be something inspirational.
I’m hesitant to try to pick a second single at this time as we have no idea what the other 6 songs they recorded sound like and what the musical climate will be like come March.

Lulu, I saw Brandon’s tweet, I think he may just mean that they fly to Florida on Sunday to get ready to kick off the most southern portion of the radio tour–they are expected to be at the first radio station at 8AM on Monday! That’s like 4AM for the rest of us in “Danny time”. (He’s indicated that anything before noon is difficult!)

Hi y’all. Just lurking tonight. Nice to see the fox video up so that there is some national attention. Have to admit he does look yummy as for the radio stations here in eastern NC I am calling every other day. WRNS has a great website that lists all the songs that they play and at what time. Makes it easy for me to see of Danny got a spin. Small bit it makes me feel like I am contributing.

Erika, one last comment about the website, when you re-arranged the page to put the music on the right side (per Jason’s suggestion) and put OHN under it, I lost the section with the twitter feed. I also don’t see the list of posted items on the home page like we use to have. I checked Iheart out on two different computers and I get the same view. I always use to browse the list before going to the discussion pge. Now, I’ll admit to not being very “too techy” (but a Danny addiction has stretched me: twitter, blogging, copying audio and video files, facebook-barely!and a picture library) but this is what I see. I am surprised mighty had time to visit with us “gokesters.” He/she has been pretty busy at AI forum the past few days sharing the holiday spirit.
Here is one post that mighty may be too shy to share here by his/her/itself, with mighty’s sentiments about Danny’s version of O Holy Night and mighty’s own musical aspirations.
“Danny’s version is acceptable, but It’s nearly impossible to top some of the voices that have sang that song. But it is a very easy song to make sound good. I may even put my own version out there for download.”

Danny will likely only have 1 visit back to AI – and that would be in Mar – to debut his album. They would have just started the Top 10. And if he is involved in Idol Gives Back, he probably will be featured in a clip of some kind.
Also, at this point, we really don’t know what songs are actually going to be on the album – except for MBD and It’s Only. Other songs Danny has sung on the radio tours could just be test runs. And it sounds like the songs that he has recorded but hasn’t made public, are more the non-message, more entainment type songs.
I remember Adam saying that they had him record over 25 songs -and the label was still choosing songs for the album, right before it’s release.
Mar is still a aways off.

I think people using IE have problems because IE blocks a lot of functions needed to see the twitter feed, the newsletter, etc. It says that it doesn’t understand a line of command for the twitter feed but that line is provided by twitter so I’m positive it’s not me effing it up. I’m sorry about it but gotta say… IE is crap… please change to another browser…
