Good morning, peeps. Thank you for the birthday wishes on yesterday’s thread and sorry for the twitter meltdown.
It was just an awful day at work and I came back home and spent the whole afternoon alone. Quite the difference that what I was used to, back in Brazil, being surrounded by family and friends. Homesickness gets worse this time of the year.
I slept the tears off during the afternoon and I’m better now. My sis and bro-in-law came back at night and took me out to dinner in a Thai restaurant nearby.
Maryann, happy birthday!
Good morning!
I hope you feel better today, Hannele!
For anyone who missed it yesterday, I finally finished Part 3. I won’t do anything else to it now, but there may be a Part 4. I thought the perfect way to end it would be with Danny singing OHN, especially since I had his first version he sang a couple of years ago linked in the beginning of the article:
http://toonces1966.livejournal.com/1153.html
Also finished Part 2 of my DC blog.
Have a great day. Back to work for me.
Thanks Erika1 Birthdays can be bittersweet. It is understandable to be missing those you love, on such a special occasion. Glad you got out during the evening.
Have a great day Helio!

Morning all,
Video from the Fox station of Danny yesterday
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5IJ1dj5L6c
.
another Danny sighting yesterday
@dannygokey Hey Danny!! So, my best friends parents got me an autograph from you at the cheesecake factory today!! Thanks!
about 7 hours ago from web in reply to dannygokey
(from same person) @dannygokey btw…me and my sister thought you were amazing at the game today!! We’re your biggest fans! and we’re not just sayn that!
I sent an email to Michael J at WMZQ this morning in DC and asked him to play Danny’s new single. He just acknowledged my email and played a short clip of Danny’s interview when he sang I heard it through the grapevine but didn’t play his single yet. So happy he mentioned me on air being a fan of Danny but he better play his single also.
Hello! Hope you all had a lovely Xmas! Happy belated birthday to Erika and I know how you feel. When I lived abroad for many years I did not get to spend Xmas with my close family for six years…
Happy birthday Maryann!
Trying to catch up with Danny news and was happy to hear that his single was still #3 in the Finnish country chart. I ended up buying “only” six copies of Danny’s single, so there are definitely more Danny fans in Finland in order for him to be that high up in the chart.
I would not worry about the charts and how Danny’s single is doing, because it will do fine and his album will do great. Danny is so talented that there is no stopping him. I don’t let myself worry over things and just enjoy following Danny’s career development.
I most likely won’t be around much this week, because I’m taking some overtime leave and will travel to see relatives for few days.
Take care.
Twitter: steph6449
Lizzy, hope so too — I’ll take a listen. Is he on now or is it the Boxer fellow?
I can email them to thank them if you can let me know, even if I don’t actually catch it on air live.
By the way, I sent the link to Danny’s version of OHN to quite a few people over the Xmas holidays and most of them don’t know anything about AI. Everybody was asking me who is that guy and what an awesome voice he has. I told people that if they want Danny’s album I can order it for them and 5 out of the 7 people who got the OHN link said OK after they had listened to Danny’s other songs.

WTMJ (AM620) Played Danny Gokey’s National Anthem on the air this morning at 5:30am.
interesting as I think one of those two haters who were tweeting about what did or didn’t happen with Danny at half-time, had a tie to this station
Did anyone notice Danny’s teeth in the side profile pic from the Packers. You can definitely tell he has been on Invisalign. I think it’s looking great!
Twitter: jannworth
Belated birthday wishes to Erika and Maryann! Steph, you never cease to amaze me with your sleuthing on Danny links! I do hope to meet you someday so I can give you a thank you hug!
Its a good thing it was a “nice” day in Wisconsin for Danny singing at the GB Packer game…today the wind is blowing the snow around and its a grey day!
I loved that pic of Danny and Aaron Rodgers (quarterback for GB) from yesterday–I went out to the 103.7 FM radio site to try to find the video/interview of Danny on Milwaukee’s welcome home day for Danny with Aaron because its so darn cute–but I failed to find it. They have a real bromance going on.
Dare I look what’s going on with MJ’s site?? Well nothing ventured nothing gained…..back later Ihearters! Jan
Thanks Jan. You are right on time with that wish. Shhhh…
Noticed the chompers too, Amy. They are looking mighty purdy, if I do say so too!
He looked so dashing at that game. He is really a stylish guy. Can’t be traveling everywhere with a stylist. Looked so great. Loved the black and white shirt with the red scarf, as an accent. Sharp!
Saw on DGO, that some folks are having trouble pre-ordering the album in the UK.
Anyone know whether it is a go or not yet?
Twitter: kiady
Hi everyone! Just saw and listened to Danny yesterday at the Packers game he did great once again! And everyone applauded him
He look so good, warm and stylish lol
One more, because you all seem to be missing in action:
Laughing myself silly at the comment made by a Danny hater on the youtube of his Nat’l Anthem. They’ve called his performance “HERENDOUS”.
Perhaps, they are female, and needed to invent a new word to describe their behavior.
Nothing horrendous about Danny. Nope.
Hi everyone. Erika glad to see you are in better spirits today. Birthdays can really suck. But if you ever need a pick me up you can always tweet or email us. You and Amy have done so much for us the least we can do is be a shoulder to cry on.
Family (sick and healthy) are gone and life is returning to normal (still no arrival of grandbaby). I had to post on MJ to keep up the 20 fans image LOL.
Danny sure looked and sounded great. He can even make the NA sound good. No disrespect to the NA but it is a very hard song to sing. Only negative about yesterday was the video clip that the newscast showed was the Dream On song. Couldn’t they find a better clip!!
Twitter: karatemom34
Good Morning Everyone, Hope you had a great Holiday! Erica, glad your feeling better today!
Hi Jan, Of course I missed you again today!! Lol
Danny once again did an Amazing job on the NA, He looked great! Loved what he was wearing! I agree with everyone. He’s becoming very stylish!! Amy I noticed how nice his teeth looked also!
Hi everyone.
Someone on pulse posted today the top 100 country songs on mediabase. Danny is ranked at #78. He fell quite a bit on the chart but there are several country songs ahead of him up there, so he should move up, once the stations stop playing the Christmas songs.
http://pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=country&action=display&thread=90731&page=2
And when I checked the overall Itunes chart this morning Danny was ranked #678 up a few spots from last night.
Twitter: karatemom34
FOGS thankyou for that info!
Twitter: pjgvet
Hi Connie and everyone else! I thought the exact same thing! Why is it always the Dream On performancd, lol.
I see that “herrendous” comment Maryann mentioned is blocked out now! good lord, what are some of these haters, about 10 years old?
On a really sad note; Jen told me that Terri who was murdered (the Glambert) is the one who traded seats with Jen and I in Madison so that we had front row seats! I didn’t remember her name, just that she was from Texas, is that where Terri was from? She was very nice and sweet. It hits home even more, if that was really the girl we met!
Just stealing short moments on the computer, so not privy to everything going on. Erika, Happy Birthday and sorry it was a little blue for you! You can vent to us anytime!
I’m glad the days are getting longer.
That is so funny that Danny is still #3 in Finland! They do love them some Gokey in finland, lol. And here Hannele thought she was one of the few.
Did anyone else notice that Fox clip showed Jen and also side view of Michelle? Ihearties are famous!
Yes, thanks so much FOGs!
Have to tell you all, I am really enjoying Darius Rucker’s album. Got it as a present from my daughter. It is fantastic.
Couple of things have occurred to me, while enjoying this album: 1) Most of the songs would have been excellent material for Danny, 2) There is plenty of faith references in this album, and 3) Darius is more of a soul singer then a country singer.
Which, leads me to question why so many folks take issue with Danny not going the CCM or pop route. Why is it perfectly fine for Darius to move on over to country and talk about his faith, but not okay for Danny? Just makes no sense to me.
I do love this album. Got to get to see him live. Amazing voice. Reminds me of Danny.
Hey there Pam! Hope you are enjoying your visit.
I did think that was Jen in that video clip, but wasn’t sure. How nice of them to help out.
Knowing Danny, he must really appreciate their support. It is help like that, which means the most.
Someone on mjs just posted that Danny is now #659 on the overall Itunes chart so he went up again.
Also I think a lot of the Christmas songs might not be eligible to chart on Billboard. Someone on Pulse had mentioned that. If this is indeed true then maybe he won’t fall a lot of places on the Billboard chart. And maybe whatever sales he has gotten will help him with his ranking on Billboard. I believe that Billboard ranks songs based on airplay and sales.
Twitter: kiady
Cindy, now Danny it’s a star so he has to be very stylish haha j/k but love that scarf gives him a really cute look!
Twitter: karatemom34
Hi Pam I thought the same thing, about always showing the “Dream On” performance! I did see Michelle and Jen, very cool!!
Twitter: kiady
About the Dream On thing it’s not the first time that we saw a Danny interview or report when they show a clip of DO, seems like they’re trying to say “see he did this on AI, but now he’s very successful”…couldn’t we stay just with the successful part? LOL
Twitter: pjgvet
Thanks, Maryann, I am enjoying my visit. Always good to see my family out East. Cindy, glad I wasn’t seeing things and you saw them too!
FOGS, thanks for posting the charts. Although it kinda depresses me when he doesn’t shoot up the charts I have to remember it can take months; isn’t it sad I am so invested in this guy that his success, etc affects me like that? Can you say Gokey-holic, lol.
Have a great day everyone!
Twitter: karatemom34
I agree Claudia! Lol I actually didn’t think that performance was that bad, He really just had a bad note at the end! Lol
Twitter: kiady
Cindy,
and i agree with you i loved the performance was just that note/scream that wasn’t good until that note I really enjoyed the whole song, he can sing anything! That’s a really hard note to sing it just showed that Danny wanted to take a risk! even if it was a bad comment when Simon said it seemed like he was in a horror movie i really like the fact that Danny laughed at it, once again showed a great personality and his open mind to the bad comments that can be constructive
I posted a few comments late last night, that I will repost here in the hope of generating some discussion:
I’m sure everyone is gone by now, but a few comments . . .
I listen to the top 40 country countdown every week, and I’m trying to get my arms around how songs move on the country charts.
David Nail’s “Red Light” is holding at No. #6 for the second week. The announcer noted that the song was released SIX MONTHS AGO, in June. Took a long time for that song to climb!
Luke Bryan’s “Do I?” finally reached #1, after holding at #2 for three weeks. Not sure when it was released.
And Mallory Hope’s “Love Lives On” is #36. Does anyone know when Mallory’s song was released? I remember someone at iheart (Rachel? Helio?) providing the link to her video after Danny tweeted about meeting Mallory. It seems like it was a while back, maybe late September (after the AI Tour ended) or October? There already was a video out at that point, so I assume the song was released? So maybe it’s taken months for the song just to reach #36? (It’s a good song.)
By the way, Craig Morgan and Sons of Sylvia will be touring with Carrie Underwood.
JANNIKAS –
You mean I’m not the only one who grew up on “Beer Barrel Polka?” That’s a classic. I’m originally from northeastern PA, and polka music was very popular. We always had that kind of music at wedding receptions. I think there’s another one — “No Beer in Heaven.” Something like that?
Twitter: karatemom34
you’re right Claudia, Actually, the guy who really sings this song, steven tyler, didn’t sound much better on the last note! Lol Danny handled the critique well!!
Twitter: kiady
By the way when i woke up i read Danny’s last tweet about seeing Avatar movie.
Did anyone see it? I loved it. I think Danny must liked it too. In my opinion it was very well produced and realized! Definitely one of the best that I have ever seen!
Twitter: karatemom34
Didn’t see it yet, Claudia! Good to know!
Twitter: kiady
Cindy, yep! And i don’t remember where Danny said that but someone question him what did he thought about the performance and he was very honest and said “i didn’t think it was that bad until i see it” lol our Danny it’s so perfect…..
A late good morning or early afternoon to everyone, whichever the case may be!
Erika, I hope today is a much better day for you than yesterday. Sad that you had to be away from family and loved ones but nice that you got treated to a nice meal last night to help cheer you up. LOVE LOVE LOVE the delicious pic you chose for today’s discussion! One of my favorite appearances from back in the day when his hair was a little longer and falling softly across his forehead. He is a dream!
Amy, Danny’s teeth are looking so good! I used to wonder how he could ever look more gorgeous than he is, but he is managing to do so! Loved his look yesterday at the game, he looks good in red. He also looked mighty fine in that turquoise teeshirt and black vest he wore on the OHN video. He looks yummy in bright colors.
Pam, thanks for your response about Firefox. I will put that on my list of things to do (I am slow at doing new stuff on my computer…hard to teach an old dog a new trick!).
I need to go look for that video clip with Michelle and Jen…somehow I seem to have missed that!
Twitter: kiady
Cindy, when you go to the mall with your kids, you should take them to the movies to see Avatar
thus you avoid spending too much lol and no chocolate!!
Twitter: karatemom34
Lol Good Idea Claudia! I actually didn’t eat any chocolate believe it or not over Christmas! There was so much food, too overwhelming. My mom is Italian so she cooks a lot of food for holidays especially! Lol
Ellen, don’t know from what part of northeastern PA you came from but when hubby and I were first married, we lived for two years in Pottsville, PA. I was used to living in a suburb outside of Philly and when we moved, I could not tolerate polka music, and that was ALL we could get on our cheap little radio in our apartment. Beer Barrel Polka, and Pennsylvania Polka for sure! Also heard so much of a little treasure called Lichtenstein Polka! We’d go out dancing for an evening and found nothing but bands playing polkas and people dancing to the music.
Oh sheesh….I’m rambling. Putting off getting to some post-holiday cleanup….BBL
Twitter: kiady
Cindy, i didn’t eat chocolate at Christmas night either! But i ate a delicious cake with caramel coverage yummy!
i love italian pasta!! lol
Shirl, I actually like polka music and I know how to dance to it too! Not kidding about polkas being wedding music, at least on my father’s side of the family. (He was Lithuanian.) I think that’s one reason why I love the Polish Festival in Portland, Oregon. (Biggest Polish Festival west of the Mississippi.) There is folk music and folk dancing, and of course, polka music! I remember once watching this 14-year-old boy trying to polka with an older female cousin — so cute!
And I’d forgotten about the Pennsylvania Polka! Thanks for reminding me!
Twitter: karatemom34
Good job Claudia, No chocolate either! Lol I actually don’t eat pasta a lot, because we always have had it!
Twitter: karatemom34
Claudia, Might be in and out for a bit!
Twitter: karatemom34
Very cute pic of Danny above, I remember that was from Regis and Kelly show, when Danny’s luggage was lost and he had to go shopping late at night to get clothes for the show and the stylists from the show did his hair because he had no hair products! It was such a cute interview!!
Twitter: kiady
Cindy, lol i understand! ..oh ok!
Twitter: karatemom34
Claudia, did you ever see that interview?
Twitter: kiady
Cindy, lol i remember of that too! lol He tweeted that he went to shop a t-shirt and the vest(i think) at 10 pm because he had no clothes to wear on the show
Twitter: karatemom34
Yeah, that was it! I felt so bad for him! But he looked great on the show and you could tell they really liked him!
Twitter: kiady
Cindy, yes i did! And he performed WHTM!
Twitter: karatemom34
Claudia, yes, He just seemed really relaxed and comfortable on that show! That was one of my favorite interviews, and he sang great!!
Brian Mansfield at USA today Idol chatter just posted the Idol airplay chart for the week. Danny’s My Best Days had 242 spins. Does anyone remember how many Brian posted he had last week? I did not expect MBD to gain spins but it was on an upward trend before Christmas week. Hopefully it will pick up where it left off after January 3d.
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/idolchatter/post/2009/12/kelly-clarkson-tops-christmas-week-idol-airplay/1?loc=interstitialskip
Twitter: kiady
Cindy, yes he did!
That was one of his first interviews…
Twitter: kiady
OMG it’s already 6:24pm!! I didn’t study at all…*sigh
Twitter: kiady
Danny’s tweet:
dannygokey
Please consider Sophia’s Heart n ur end of year giving~We r a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated 2 children, families & making their best days happen
I think we all need to keep in mind that Danny is a brand new artist. And as reported before, it does take time, especially for Country songs to move around on the charts.
And I certainly would never make any conclusions based on 1 week of sales – where the charts were bombarded with Christmas music. Also, a lot of people aren’t even around – including many fans of IHEART
I also do not think it’s a good idea to say that he will be the new Carrie Underwood – that’s an awful lot of pressure. And the haters will pounce on that right away. Remember Danny did not win American Idol.
As long as he is moving in the right direction, and gets respectable numbers, that is way more important in the long run.
Twitter: karatemom34
Well said, Surf
Lizzy it looks like Danny went up in spins. Last week Brian Mansfield had him down for 221 spins.
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/idolchatter/post/2009/12/idol-airplay-kris-adam-danny-all-see-gains/1
FOGS (or anyone else for that matter), are there any stats on how Kelli Pickler, Josh Gracien or Bucky Covington did on their first time out? I think they would be more fair comparisons (especially against the haters). They were all signed to Country labels – and none were in the finals.
Kris and Adam were in the finals – and those in the finals will always get more promotion – but they will be expected to sell more.
I think we also want to start looking at stats for Elliot Yamin and Kimberly Locke. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think both are considered the most successful 3rd place finishers?
Actually that is pretty good if Danny didn’t lose spins and actually gained a few. Most of the songs in teh top 40 lost spins due to Christmas songs. I am keeping my fingers crossed tha MBD’s continues it’s upward trend in spins and also sales.
Ellen, I need to let you know I was not putting down Polkas or Polish music. It was just such a change from what I’d been listening to on the radio when we lived near Phila. I did learn to dance to it, and in fact when we went back to Pottsville for a Polish wedding (that was fun!) I enjoyed dancing the 2-step routine.
I know there is a large Polish population in WI as in northeast PA but interesting to know there are also families in Oregon too!
The Surf
I believe that Bucky debuted #1 on the Billboard Country albums chart. I’m not sure how Josh did. I believe that Kellie’s first album went gold (500,000 albums sold). Bucky did do pretty okay when his first album came out. And Kellie has done very well for herself, I believe that she made over 2 million dollars last year, because of how hard she’s worked.
I think that if you go to wikipedia and type in their names, you can find some more information about how many albums they sold, where their albums charted, etc…
Lizzy I am glad that Danny went up spins. It’s very important that he continues to gain in airplay. I think that as long as he keeps increasing in airplay he will have a much better chance of being fine. I wonder where he will rank on Billboard this week.
Really interested article on internet use in rural areas. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34468857/ns/technology_and_science-tech_and_gadgets/
I believe that someone at MJs may have mentioned this before but in light of the current internet only sales this may be one reason why Country Music has lower digital sales.

“American Idol” season five eighth-place finalist Bucky Covington’s self-titled Lyric Street debut starts at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and No. 1 on Top Country Albums with 61,000 units.” This was the album release.
His first single, “A Different World” premiered on GAC in December 2006, was released to radio on January 16, 2007 and his video was released on February 2007. The video reached #1 on CMT’s Top Twenty Countdown for the week of May 31, 2007. The CD was released on April 17, 2007.
aw pam that’s really sad. she was a beautiful woman her kids went through alot. a magazine is goin to dedicate her in they’re magazine i thought was sweet, they are doin a donation in texas woman center in texas today whoever wants to donate.
“And Mallory Hope’s “Love Lives On” is #36. Does anyone know when Mallory’s song was released? ” – Billboard.com says it was 20 weeks ago.
Shirl, I did not take your comments AT ALL as a putdown of polka music! (And I know it’s not for everyone.
But I still like it anyway!
)
Chicago has the largest Polish population in the U.S., but 20% of the population of Wilkes-Barre, PA is Polish.
I’m not sure how big the Polish community is in Portland, Oregon — the church were the festival is held is fairly small. But the festival itself is big. They routinely have dancers fom Vancouver, Canada come to perform, and they got so big that had to start importing their pierogi from Chicago.
It’s just cool to me, Shirl, that you’ve experienced some of what I grew up with.
Now wait until a hater finds out that a Danny fan likes polka music. I can see it all now!
Connie, you beat me to it! I was going to post that article about the lack of broadband penetration in the U.S. Although I understand the reasons for it, it’s a bit shocking to me because back in the 1990s, the FCC and state public utility commissions claimed that federal and state universal service funds were going to be used to get rural areas connected. The federal USF charge, in particular, is a pretty big add-on to everyone’s local phone bill. Not sure whether it’s added to cell-phone service, but wouldn’t be surprised, since the feds regulate cell-phone service.
Anyway, a few days ago I commented on the article that stated that 50% of country music fans don’t have access to the Internet, wondering whether they literally don’t have access or simply choose not to subscribe. I guess I have my answer.
That certainly explains why country fans are more apt to buy physical CDs.
As I said previously, this is very sobering news. For example, I would expect a lot of country fans in eastern Oregon. That’s where the Pendleton rodeo is located. But eastern Oregon was on the list of regions that do not have broadband penetration. So there apparently are plenty of country fans who CAN’T buy MBD, even if they hear it on the radio and like it.
I don’t know which comparisons are good to make, but it looks like Mallory Hope’s song took 20 weeks just to get to #36. And I don’t know what position David Nail’s “Red Light” started at, but it just reached #6 two weeks ago, after being out for SIX MONTHS!
Okay, no more posts for a while!

Glad to see Danny picked up some spins despite the holiday. I see he’s ahead of Bucky C., whose stuff was being played quite a bit on GAC or CMT this weekend when I had those channels on. Big big difference though to Carrie’s songs, not really proportionate to Carrie’s last song even though Danny was behind her in the new adds Dec 14th. Seems some stations who have Danny’s song didn’t really play it yet. Hopefully soon, and more adding it as the radio tour moves around.

Cindy, sorry I missed you again–and Pam, good job sneaking onto the computer when you can! I had to take my mom to a follow up doc appointment–things are going well.
Shirl and Ellen, its not just Polish folks that dance the polka in Wisconsin–heck at Grafton, the UW Madison played a polka that’s standard WI football game music (based on the Budweiser jingle–When you say Wisconsin, you’ve said it all) and woman (no men..) were paired up and dancing in the aisles, LOL! I had a girlfriend in middle school that took me with her when her parents went to polka dances in our little town.
As far as internet–I can not get broadband internet at my house in rural Dane County (which is the county in which has WI state capitol!) I had to move to a wireless provider! dial up was driving me bonkers! I pay big bucks to support my Danny addiction on the internet!
I suppose we have to brace ourselves for a very slow week of Danny news this week? What should we do to entertain ourselves? I like Claudia’s solution of pasting in our favorite Danny performances of the past! Maybe we could rate the best performances from AI live–I watch the Providence performances all the time. Jan
Twitter: karatemom34
Hi Jan, I like that idea!
I know it’s way too soon to project, and other artist’s singles have taken a loooonng time to climb the charts in any significant way, but I can’t help feeling disappointed by the way MBD has dropped, and also the lack of activity on Danny’s OS. Maybe I am just under the weather tonight. I may take a breather and hit the sack early tonight.
I guess I need to be a little more patient.
helio, I think it’s just a bad time of the year for people to be spending a lot of time on the internet visiting various sites….except for those of us Gokeheads who daily need our Danny fix.
I think things will really pick up once MBD is released and people start hearing it on the radio, and when the video is released and people start seeing it on TV. Once Danny starts making guest appearances on various talk shows and entertainment shows, he will definitely draw in my fans and I think things will really explode once the album drops.
I know I want so badly to see a big drop dead gorgeous fashion spread in a major magazine and it can’t be too soon for me!!!!!
Ellen B – Red Light by David Nail was released on February 10, 2009. A music video for the song premiered on CMT on July 16, 2009. “Red Light” debuted at #58 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in March 2009. The song became his first Top Ten hit in November 2009 and peaked at #7 in December 2009.
Country music is a slow moving machine.
Connie, nothing gets past you! All I know is that the announcer on the top 40 country countdown said that “Red Light” had been out since June and had been on the chart for six months. Looks like it was longer than that! But the countdown I listened to said it was #6. Maybe different charts?
I think everyone (at least here) expects Danny’s song to move up the chart faster because of the name recognition he brings from American Idol. (And, of course, we all think he’s a brilliant singer!
) I don’t know whether that necessarily would be the case. And I don’t know who best to compare Danny to — perhaps other Idols who went country? Also, does anyone have stats on Darius Rucker? How long did it take for his first single to climb the charts? He had some name recognition because of his past as the lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish.

Uh oh, no more of the mopes pls
Really, until there is some advertising out there, a video, etc. most people who probably like Danny and would wish to support him may well not even know his single is for sale. Or they may not be in a rush to buy it, or be waiting on the album.
If he can keep up a solid trend with the radio play and continue with the promo, get the video out, etc. we’ll see how it goes from now through March when the album will be for sale. I would have loved to see him stay to the top of the chart, but I think going up to #24 was pretty good. It’s dropped down, but there are a lot of weird things with the timing right before Christmas and he hasn’t had extremely visible promo. If he needs to work for success a little, also, in the long run I don’t see how that will hurt Danny.
Kris Allen’s single dropped quite a bit also, but picked up and is doing pretty well after they continued to push the radio play.
.
funny, some folks on twitter are having a conniption as @jambajim was having a twitter party and mentioned one of Danny’s songs in response to a question about ‘kradison’ albums. someone said the ‘holy trinity’ of kradison was violated. sheesh

RT @BringItBack1985 favorite song off of kradisons albums? > KA: Bring It Back / AL: WWFM / AI: Beat Me Up / Gokey: It’s Only Jesus Song?
.
he also said this to another question. interesting given his usual oeuvre at MTVNews. i guess snarking isn’t technically hatin’
RT @teamaims was there any idols that you disliked after meeting them? > Probably but I don’t remember. I fly above all the haterz!

Matt Bjorke just posted his 10 worst singles of 2009. Two AI country artists are on it, ouch. (not Danny, but Carrie surprisingly — and where oh where is that ‘beer gut’ song…)

I wasn’t moping, Steph, just responding to earlier posts that expressed disappointment. Basically saying the same thing that Connie said — that country music appears to be a slow moving machine.
Ellen, LOL, I think Steph may have been referring to me as the moper. I am not that mopey really, but very tired and grumpy tonight and don’t have a lot to say for a change.
I did make a new friend on Twitter tonight though–a member of Danny’s OS named MellyBelly. She’s really nice and her birthday is April 25, 1980–she’s one day younger than Danny, LOL
I feel like baking a cake for some reason but it’s way too late.
Hi all, just a quick post-I saw that, earlier, Maryann was saying that UK fans were having difficulties pre ordering the album? I can`t find anything about pre ordering-on Amazon or Play.com-I`m a bit groggy at the moment, so maybe I haven`t been looking in the right place?
Any predictions on how many singles Danny will sell his first week? Brian Mansfield should post the single sales numbers tomorrow. I’m guessing around 4,000.
Carole, in that article on Internet access that Connie posted above, I saw that the U.K. ranked two spots above the U.S. — #13 rather than #15. But neither ranking is very flattering for our respective countries!
I thought the CD pre-order (at least of the special version with the autographed booklet) — was exclusive to Danny’s website? So it wouldn’t be on Amazon or Play.com. But I think Amazon, at least, will let you pre-order the regular CD closer in time to when the album drops.

Helio, if you’re feeling it was you, I won’t dispute
But truly that was meant just as a general comment having had that sense in a few posts over the weekend and maybe again today. Don’t remember who they were from.
I’m just not going to worry about the short-term numbers when the album isn’t due until March and they have this apparently slow-building marketing strategy that they are following. Danny won’t even be off vacation until Monday, and he has a full week of promo next week wrapping up with the Opry events the following weekend.
Seems to me just keep a healthy amount of energy pestering the radio stations to play his song more, and when we have a chance, to follow the suggestion FOGS (?) posted about voting up the video on GAC and CMT to give it support.

(bunch of idiots tweeting moronic stuff about / to Danny tonight, glamberts / kradam fans or ontd-ai must be bored)
I’m not really worried at this point either. The single most important thing is for MBD’s to increase in spins. We can help in that regard by requesting it from our local country radio station. I had some luck today – not that Michael J. at WMZQ played Danny’s single but he did mention my name on the air this morning and talk about Danny visiting their station. He even played the clip of Danny signing I heard it through the grapevine. I have already developed a relationship as a loyal listener with Boxer in the morning and Michael J. in the afternoon. Hopefully after the holidays they will give MBD’s a spin for me. I am not going to give up because it is a good song and should be heard on the radio.
As to Danny’s single sales. I’ve decided not to compare Danny with other Idols but with other new country artists and when you compare him with other new country artists he is doing just fine and even somewhat better. I checked the country songs on Itunes and Danny’s single is in the top 100 with a lot of big name country starts. There are very few new country artists in the top 100 country songs. We have to put in all in proper perspective. We know a video is coming out and his album is coming out. RCA Nashville has plans for Danny and so far we have been happy with how they have handled him.
Sorry for all the types – it’s been a long day.
Dang I can’t even spell typos lol- I’m going to bed
Lizzy
I am going to guess around 4,000 for his single sales as well.

Hey, Steph, as you already know, I’m with you on staying patient on Danny’s career and staying away from the comparisons to the rest of Idol world. Let’s just remember that this amazing 3rd place finisher we know has a great team behind him, a positive attitude, a desire to work his way into the hearts of country fans AND a loyal fanbase from that show on FOX…..that’s about to start again. (All of last years idols will soon be put on a shelf.)
Danny says it and we need to embrace it: His best days are ahead! Can you imagine the pressure on Danny if he had the craziness of Adam’s life? I’ve already been a little scared for him re: the reported mob of people following Danny and his niece at the Brookfield mall —it may be too much, too soon.
While I admit my fangirl side wants EVERYONE to love Danny like we do (and I don’t understand why they don’t), we want his popularity to build/burn long and slow–not like a firecracker, LOL.
Like Shirl, I will love every beautiful picture and note of Danny when he hits the magazines, talk shows and performances (like AI season 9!) but I will have to wait, I’m afraid.
trying to be patient, (my worse trait) Jan

I follow David Nail on Twitter and I remember a little while ago some fans complaining about him on Twitter. He blocked some of his fans, I think because they were being rude to him. I think that they were mad at him for not coming out and signing autographs one time, even though he was busy doing something else. The fans that he blocked were acting like he didn’t appreciate them and stuff like that.

That’s a nice item Erika just posted here. Maybe we should also keep in mind Danny’s priorities aren’t totally on big sales success.
“The Mercy Health Foundation raised $447,000 for stereotactic breast biopsy equipment, among other research materials, at its 16th annual O’ Night Divine Charity Ball, according to a press release by the Mercy Health System of Northwest Arkansas.”
Before Danny went out there, I think they were saying that type of biopsy equipment wasn’t available in their area. Good that they raised enough $$ to acquire one. It wasn’t much fun when I had the procedure with that same type of equipment, but it was a lot better option than most others.
Goodnight Lizzy and Helio.

FOGS, interesting re David Nail. When he was at Coyote Joe’s that night, the little bit I saw of him he seemed really quiet to me, almost shy. I’m not sure how Danny may be in his personal life. When he’s out with fans or on stage, he is much more personable and open-seeming.
If Danny liked to block people, he could have quite the party at it tonight based on the dumb tweets he’s getting. Does seem to be some set of ontd-ai types, for whatever reason. Juvenile, and as Darla just said on twitter, ‘vulgar’ although I’m sure those doing it must feel they are the height of sophistication.

Well, said Lizzy re Danny’s progress vs. other new country artists. I appreciate the business sense/info you bring to Iheart. G’nite Lizzy and Helio–Helio, I hope you’re feeling better. I should head out, too. jan

I saw an interview with David Nail one time and he seemed pretty humbled, I could see him being a little shy. I think that the time his fans were complaining about him not coming out was the time he was busying at a charity event. Some of his fans were treating him rudely and seemed entitled. I am glad that Danny fans don’t act like that.
For some reason I can’t get on Twitter right now but I can imagin some of the stuff that the haters are saying to Danny up there. A lot of them are very immature regardless of what their ages are. I guess they figure sending foolish messages to Danny will get his attention. It seems to me like they are trying to get his attention.
Twitter: steph6449
Ivan Santiago actually had more people recognizing him and asking for pics than David did when they both were briefly in the club before any of the live performances started.
And David seemed very self-contained when he sang, although I’d have to blame part of my own lack of attention on my post-Danny buzz. lol
g’night all. Was nice to see another video (just posted here) of Danny singing the NA, though after watching three videos of it now — I still have no clue where in the wide shots of the football field he actually was
Okay I can get on Twitter now and I see the vulgar, nasty, messages that the people from ONTD_AI are sending Danny. The behavior of the people who are sending those messages to him is gross. I wish that they would grow up.
