    Morning!! I just want to say a big thanks to all the ladies that posted videos & photos from Charlotte – all fantastic viewing and I really got the impression, everybody was having a great time!! :)
    STEPH’ – your post/review was brilliant – to the point and no ‘rambling’ :) I thought it was great!
    AMY – just want to say thanks for mentioning re purchasing Danny’s music for UK & Australia. I am sure Carole will be pleased!! :) :)
    STEPHANIE Hey – thanks for replying to my ‘catch up’ email – will email back very soon :) I can just imagine your screams when you heard Danny on the radio!!! How exciting – I can’t wait to hear him on UK radio!! I don’t listen to the radio very much but will make an exception for Danny of course!!

    Well the snow has hit the ‘east’ of England and caused major disruption as usual!! The UK is just not prepared like the USA for the bad weather. But I am disappointed because the area where I live has no snow at all!! I love the snow and am still holding out in the hope we do eventually have some!!!

    Danny is filming his music video today – hurrah!! I can’t wait to see it :) Such a shame FOGS & LIZZY are unable to ‘track’ the adds etc…I am sure MBD will continue to climb especially once the video is released :)

    Ok I am off for the moment – may ‘jump’ back in later on ! I did post my opinion on Danny’s songs a few days ago and noticed last night a lot of you felt the same as me – that there are no ‘throw away’ songs at all and the album will be a good quality one!
    I know you don’t all read the morning posts but it is hard for me to post in the evening due to the time difference – I think I miss quite a bit with that but at least I can catch up in the morning :)
    Oh CAROLE – hope you are resting and recovering? Will you have your daughter & grandson at yours for Christmas? Sending you big warm hugs anyway!!

    Good morning, Julie! Looks like I won’t be going into work today. They are calling for *heavy snow* and it’s already sleeting. I don’t want to risk the long drive. I do not like driving in winter weather at all. We are supposed to get 5-8 inches this weekend, but I don’t believe it.

    Stephanie, congratulations on hearing Danny on the radio! I would have screamed too. I probably will. I’m still waiting.

    Rachel, that “serious” picture of Danny you posted last night is so sad. It looks like a photo that might have been taken very early in the season with Jamar, or even before the season started, not sure. He looks like he’s been crying, actually. I can’t look at that anymore, but thank you for posting. It’s hard to believe he’s the same person now, he always looks so happy these days.

    I guess I’m going back to bed for awhile and I’ll catch up with everything later. Maryann, I promise to post more at DGO today, and I encourage everyone who can to do the same. I don’t understand why it’s not getting more traffic, and one of the trolls came back yesterday. Ugh is right.

    I’ve watched a couple of the Coyote Joes videos, and Danny and the band are awesome. Still have to catch up on the rest. Amy, your recap was a great read, thanks so much. Later on I’ll catch up on everything else but right now my bed is calling me.

    GOOODMORNING!! Julie and all Gokey Girls and Guys!!! ahhhh what a morning for Danny, he is about to shoot his first music video ever, I hear that it is a concept Video instead of a performance video. The presentation of a concept video is very interesting to me; although, I don’t know what the terminology of a Concept video means, I imagine the video is going to focus on the Message of the song.

    I envision Danny taking a journey thru life at different stages of the song and the outcome will be he is looking forward to the future with great optimism!!! I can see Danny fading in and out of different scenes of the video while singing. It seems like Danny’s management team wants to sale the message of the song to the audience. that is what I envision. Does anyone else have any idea what a concept video is or what you think it is?? I have to get back to work now Bye!! I would love to know your anwser!! BBL!

    I am curious as to exactly what a “concept” video is. I imagine it’s a video that tells a story, as opposed to one just showing Danny performing. If that is the case, I wonder if Danny will be doing the “acting,” playing himself, or if actors will be used. If actors are used, then I certainly hope there will be some footage of Danny singing interspersed at various points, similar to David Cook’s video for Light On, that also used actors but showed him performing on a big football field.

    I have sort of imagined a video showing Danny walking along a Nashville street as he lip synchs, with all kinds of happy and festive scenes around him showing happy people, families, people in love, celebrations, etc. and Danny taking it all in. I guess that wouldn’t be a concept video though. I can’t wait to see what they come up with. Whatever it is, I know it’s going to be amazing.

    Good Morning to all! I got up early before going to work just so that I could spend some time watching the videos and post here, I don’t get as much time to be on this site or on the computer as much lately so most times I lurk from my ipod right before going to sleep. Thank you for all the recaps,the videos and “Holy Night” there are no words to describe how he sings it so well and if it was that amazing on video it must have been extremely special to be listening to it live. Lori, I must send a special “Thank you” since I am one of the “NY girls” but not to worry if Danny doesn’t come to NY, NY will go to Danny” sometime again in the future. I like your attitude and I think it would be fun to join you in one of your future Danny Gokey tour stops. This morning tickets go on sale for a 3/12/10 Carrie Underwood concert locally. Helio good idea about staying in today, I totally hate snow and we get lots of snow and ice here. Yesterday the temp was only 10 here but it felt like it was below 10. I don’t know about the rest of you but I wish we had at least 2 more weeks until Christmas instead of only 1, I cannot beleive how fast this year went by. I truly enjoy reading all your discussions and posts and I wish I had more time to spend on here. Going to get ready for work since it is an earlier day for me. Have an awesome day.     Helio, the Surf – I saw the question late yesterday about Paula speaking about Carrie and Danny on the show. I think she also mentioned them together the night Danny sang JTTW, saying Carrie would like Danny’s rendition and buy his version?
    More importantly maybe, Carrie herself has said nice things about Danny in recent interviews, listing him as her favorite together with Kris Allen who comes from an area near her hometown.

I was so extremely happy that you and your daughter did end up going to meet Danny and to have him there singing his beautiful songs just a few feet away, how exciting and your recap was great.     I can’t believe it’s only a couple of days before Danny’s first release day! We have been waiting this day for so long and it’s finally coming! I can’t wait to see the MV too. But I don’t know what “concept MV” means? Dose that mean only posing and singing, rather than performing?

    Hey Helio, Latrece, Tonic & Steph!! :) I think the same as Latrece re the concept video. I think they will concentrate more on the ‘message’ of the song – the fact you can triumph over adversity.
    Helio – I don’t blame you for staying home – sounds like you in for a really cold spell :( At least you can stay in the warmth of the IHRT site & Danny’s OS :) :)
    Tonic – I too,am in that category of not seeing Danny – YET!! But we must have hope – may take a while but we will get there!
    Steph – I bet Paula will be in the front row of Danny’s first solo performance when he tours in his own right!! That woman definitely knows & hears talent when she see’s it!! I think that’s because she has a hugely ‘emotional’ side to her and ‘feels’ the performer. I actually love Ellen and think she will an ‘interesting & humerous judge but will not ‘replace’ Paula in an emotional sense…

    Just popped back in – sorry!! But I have just read on a UK newspaper web site that it’s looking very likely that because Simon Cowell is bringing the ‘X Factor’ to the USA in 2011 – he will leave ‘American Idol’!!!! I know it’s not ‘Danny’ related but what do you all think about that?
    Anyhow – off I go again :) I really must stop popping in & out :)

    Wow, some unfamiliar faces are up early this am! (I mean non-early posters. Steph, you must still be floating on your Danny high! ).
    I, too, wondered about “Concept” video. My guess would be more of a story telling also, vs. showing Danny singing. If, so, that is exactly how I pictured it!
    Lizzy, FOGS, when does the record chart “freeze” go into effect?

    Happy video day all! Freeeezing here in PA. Just got back from taking my Aussie for a walk. That would be my dog, not my hubbie. She could care less whether it is 80 or 20, she has got to go. So nice to warm up here in Dannyland!

    Seeing your lovely comment now, Toni! Thanks so much! It was a double thrill to be there with my daughter. As I was not sure we were going to be granted more passes, she did not know she was going until around 9PM the night before. She was singing and playing in the orchestra at her school that evening. So, her dad and I thought it would be best not to share the good news until after her show.

    Man, was she shocked! I thought she was going to cry. Didn’t even have to wake her the next morning. She was up and ready to go at 6:30. Needless to say, I am now a cool mom! Every now and then, she forgets, and her girlfriends remind her of my utter coolness. What a hoot! ;-)

    Hey there all, hope everyone is having a great day!

    Being from Louisiana and now living in south Florida, I’m so not used to cold and snow. I’m sending my 16 year old son to see his father in Norfolk via plane into D.C.

    Definitely nervous when I see things like Winter weather travel warnings. Keep your fingers crossed he gets to where he’s going safely!

    Other then that, just been trying to relax catching up on all things Danny and wrapping presents.

    Just wanted to thank everyone for their sweet words for the loss of our hamster, luckily my girl was resilient and has bounced back, she doesn’t know yet but she’s getting a puppy for Christmas!

    Going to head on over to the ‘other side’, in an attempt to bump up the official site traffic. I’d prefer to stay here, but am worried about the slowness there.

    Must say, the traffic was much higher on DCO (David Cook’s Official site), even initially. Around the time of his first release, I seem to recall somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,000 people being on the site that day. So, I am real worried about how the low numbers appear to Danny’s label.

    I really do think that the big issue is his site not being listed on google appropriately. Last night I discovered that if you query Danny Gokey official site, the first listing is for his myspace, not his website. I see this to be another blunder, because some will not bother to check there. Even if they do, it is just listed under his band’s website (wht?), and in small print on his single’s video.

    Someone needs to get it together soon. He most definitely should be drawing big numbers on his site. Sooner then later, would be nice, with his single coming out Monday.

    I did contact his management site (Mission) myself. Made them aware of my concerns in writing. No response.

    Did a quick survey. Right now there are approximately 1200 users online at David Cook Official, 607 people at Carrie Underwood’s site, 131 at Allison’s site, and no recordable number of users at Adam or Kris Allen’s sites.

    Leads me to the following conclusions:
    There is a definite reason for less that 25 users being on DGO at any time.
    &
    His people should remove the user count number, as it doesn’t need to be public. Adam & Kris are doing this. Makes sense. At least they don’t look bad when the numbers are low.

    Good morning all. I know there are several accounts of Coyote Joes so I will try to be brief. With Mapquest printouts in hand, I left Greenville at about noon to make the 4 hour journey. My co-workers thought I was crazy, but I looked at it as an adventure. I got to Charlotte in record time, found the venue and parked. I got out of my car to stretch my legs when I heard this voice from a parked car “ConchCast is that you?” Shock. Then I noticed I was wearing my red scarf.

    What two wonderful people. Darcy and Lori. They knew me, and treated me like family. Ladies if not for you I would have had a very cold and lonely afternoon. I had never met these people before but I felt instantly at home and we bonded. When we saw the tour bus show up we go out of the car and literally walked around the entire building til we found where they parked. Got to the bus just in time to see Danny carry the keyboard into the venue.

    The three of us went around to the front of the building where we did not sneak in, the door was unlocked. Like mice we stood at the doorway and peaked in to where the guys were doing a sound check. I took every ounce of willpower in me not to tape or photograph but I a.) really didn’t want to spoil our fly on the wall moment and b) be discovered. We were there for about 20 minutes, staff walking right by us. Finally someone in authority told us we had to leave.

    Darcy and Lori stayed at the door to listen to Danny, while I walked down to the bus and sat on a tree stump. About 10 minutes later the Texans showed up and we waited for the guys. Finally they walked out into the cold. I was wearing a special t-shirt. If you remember that black and white photo I took at Raleigh, the haunting one. Well I had this idea, and before I said anything to anyone I wanted to run it by Danny and his management company first. I put together a formal proposal and a prototype. I was wearing the prototype. He looked at my t-shirt and was genuinely shocked. First words, were where did I get the shirt. I told him I made it, and then I spun around to show the Sophia’s Heart website address on the back. He said “Wow.” In 30 seconds flat I gave him my proposal about using the t-shirt for a fund raiser for Sophia’s Heart – no profit to me 100% of profits going to the foundation. All I want is his approval/ok/blessing. I do not want to overstep boundaries. I gave him my envelope with my proposal and bio and told him I was dead serious. Fangirly moment… He took my envelope and gave me the biggest bear hug. My knees buckled. Darcy/Lori I know one of you has photos of the hug, please share.

    I then literally handed him over to Lori because I was speechless. I turned to his management/record company handler and let them know that I was very serious and committed. I do not want to be sued. Over the years I have fostered 5 teenagers and provided temporary shelter to dozens. After reviewing the mission statement of Sophia’s Heart I decided that here was an organization that was in line with my beliefs and opinions.

    The management/record company handler asked me if I took the photo and I said yes, I have the original with all the metadata on the jpg to prove it. He said he recognized the photo and wanted to make sure that I owned the rights and to confirm that it was from City Saloon. The proposal has a 10 day confirmation/declination. So if I do not hear anything from the lawyers then I will be setting up shop for the t-shirt.

    We then got more photos and we actually told Danny and the guys to get into the bus because he wasn’t even wearing a coat.

    Amy and Steph and Lori have recaps of the concerts so I won’t repeat. However I do have a funny story about Ivan. Ivan is such a nice guy. He came out to talk to us and of course we were hitting him up for information. I really think he is a little bit overwhelmed by all of this and not quite sure he is fully grasping what he is about to be involved with. I knew he spoke Spanish and so I began speaking to him in Spanish. I asked him if Danny spoke Spanish and he told me that he spoke it a little bit but that he understood it. That he asked the guys to teach him Spanish so that he could understand what Sophia’s grandparents were saying. Reminds me of my husband. I told Ivan that Danny needs to sing a song in Spanish. Ivan smiled, with a I know look. He was being coy about some answers but if you asked him specific questions, he would answer. Another Ivan story and this is really sweet. I walked over to where the Sophia’s Heart booth was set up and tried to buy a wrist band. Mita had not set up change yet so I told them I would buy 2 and handled her $20. Much later Ivan came walking through the crowd to find me. He had a 5 dollar bill in his hand. He tried to hand it to me with the explanation that the bands were $10 each or 2 for $15. I told him to keep the $5. He looked surprise. I told him to consider it a donation to SHF. I really think he was genuinely surprised. Smiled, thanked me and walked away. How cute is that.

    After the concert we waited by the buses. Imagine our surprise when Amy comes out with them Yo go girl. She had this “I’m with the band smile on her face.” Danny walked over to us and hugged each one of us and took more photos. He remembered us and even remembers where we came from. I asked him how we could help him. Just keep calling the stations and buy the single. We joked about the NY market and I said tap into your Puerto Rican market and Danny joked and said yeah we could. I do not remember if Ivan or Def said, see we need a Spanish song.

    As Amy walked onto the bus I told her that we were all jealous and to so us proud.

    My takeway from this experience has been that we really do have a wonderful group here. We really take care of our own. Everyone I talked to said “Are you crazy, you got into the car of a perfect stranger?” But we are not strangers, we know each other. It was a real pleasure to physically meet everyone and next time we need to introduce ourselves first as our screen names. Stephanie, Darcy, Lori, Amy and everyone else you made this a great experience for me. See you all next time he is in our neck of the woods.

    Final note: When I got home I called WRNS and first introduced myself and where I lived. This established that I was not from the record company. I then told them I just got back from the concert and gave them a recap and asked them to play the song. We talked for a good 8-9 minutes and again I was asked why I liked him. I also asked what the most appropriate way to request was and was answered with “Call us and let us know you are a local listener and are interested in the record.” Keywords here “local listener. I think the DJ was Heather Davis and she said “I like I can do something. It should be in the 12:00 hour.” True to her word they premiered it at 12:17.

    Gotta run for now. I posted some vids on you tube. Pay very close attention to the O Holy Night at the 3:15, 3:28 and 3:45. I showed this to my daughter and she said the light shining on Danny was almost keeping the music and that it was as if someone else was there with him. You decide.

    Hey Cindy! Missed you this morning :) that was good of you to send poor Danny some hugs! We are sending people home from our office who have a ways to drive. The snow is falling out on the outskirts so they need to leave now to get home safely. Although our weather is not as severe as you guys!
    Hi Maryann – you are very good in doing some investigating at Danny’s OS – you are right, something needs to be done! I have to say I have registered but not joined in with anything. I have to be careful with my ‘hand’ so I am limited….

    Maryann-
    I think the trolls the first night did chase people off. Also, Danny fans in general are not as much internet people as others (to wit- less Danny posting in general on the internet, yet he was never in the bottom vote wise until the end). Also, sorry to say, I think Amy’s site is responsible!
    This site is so pretty, so easy to follow and so well done, up to date, it is certainly easier to get news here.
    I frequent DG site everyday and post. Hopefully they will get more on the ball. There is a lot of good things about the site.
    Wonder if those numbers are even accurate, I find that hard to believe. There are other glitches too, so I wouldn’t be surprised, they should get more on the ball as time goes on.

    I really loved your post Connie – it is so refreshing to hear how ‘normal’ & ‘humble’ Danny & his friends/family are…
    Pam – I think you are right that people were ‘chased’ off by trolls on the OS – and this site is so user friendly although I do actually like the layout of Danny’s site. Like you say I am sure as time goes by, it will improve like most things in life!! :)

    Hope you are right, Pam. No matter when I log on, the place is vacant. Same posters again and again. I thinking that may be an issue too.

    If they were smart, they’d post a web vlog of Danny filming his video or getting ready for his release.

    There are all sort of gimmicks that work. They’ve been done for other artist. They need to market him…

    Interesting news. Just got a reply from Shelley at
    Mission Management. Very nice of them to take the time to get back to me. Not sure it is appropriate to cut and paste their correspondence. So, I’ll just summarize things.

    They are saying that there is a large amount of web activity concerning Danny in the past year, compared to the last week at their site.

    They mentioned that they have chosen to go with ‘key word’ searched to hopefully get people to DannyGokey.com.

    They expect it will take a couple of weeks to get Danny pushed to the top of the list past all the other websites and their
    said addresses.

    The email was very nice and upbeat. Assured me they are doing all they can :-) .

    I thanked them for their efforts, and reiterated my concerns that Sony Nash/RCA hasn’t posted Danny’s official address, and the irregularities with regard to the web address and SHFs address on his myspace.

    Maryann, YOU should be running Danny’s OS! Wonderful ideas there! That the site is so poorly moderated, and without any of the gimmicks you mentioned, it makes me wonder if they actually have any experience with how to make a site come alive, but of course they should know…. It could also be that a lot of Danny’s fans aren’t internet users, which is a big factor. I was also wondering it there is any way to get word to Google about showcasing the OS to better advantage…unless that privilege has to be “earned”.

    Julie, I read some reports about Simon leaving AI to bring X-Factor to the US. I am kinda expecting the show to lose viewers with Paula gone this season. But with Simon going after next season, I think the show is doomed. Doubt if I’ll even bother after he leaves.

    I am loving how everyone shares their recaps, pics and videos from their Danny travels! Very much appreciated. Since this is the first time I have EVER been even remotely interested in an idol, I am still in awe of how fans are able travel to wherever it is he is appearing. I must live in the dark ages! I don’t mean driving 3 or 4 hours, that’s doable. But to find out there are fans who are able to just take off from work and have the means to hop on a plane or train or bus to follow him amazes me.

    Not to worry about traffic on the sites, I suppose there is so much going on with the holidays. I’m a die-heart but finding it hard to post these days. I do try to keep up with news. I’m excited Danny got a spin in my area.
    I have to admit the holidays can be stressful. The other day I couldn’t get my kids to help decorate the tree. So I go through this exercise in my head, “why did I have kids again? Christmas is so different when they are teenagers as when younger. Like waking them up on Christmas morning instead of them waking you up and so on…No matter, we cherish our families, the good, bad, & indifference. I don’t want to take for granted the short time I have.. slow down, enjoy my family and to remind myself to LOVE my crazy teenagers.     Connie Thanks so much for the wonderful recap! I love the picture you took that you used as a prototype t-shirt. How awesome it would be if people could buy it with proceeds going to SHF. I’ve said it before but Danny seems to surround himself with wonderful people. Ivan, Def and Brandon seem like really good people.

    Maryann, I second what Shirl said. You should be running Danny’s site. I think I might email Mission management myself. The more of us nagging them to do something the better. I have also noticed the pitifully small numbers on his site, compared to those at DCO, which are regularly over 1000, like Maryann said. I also remember even when it was first put up, his numbers were in the 600s or so. DCO has a lot more features and goodies to attract traffic, that DGO does not. There is no excuse for this. What surprises me is that there isn’t more traffic (even without Danny’s site coming up on Google) since the name dannygokey.com is one that people will just type into their browser without even knowing about the site. This makes me think that the numbers listed on the top are not accurate, and may be just another glitch. (I’m still getting the “siamese twin” profile, for example). If that is not an accurate representation of actual traffic (and even if it is), it doesnt need to be posted, since it will make his label think people aren’t interested. Of course there is also the possibility that the vast majority of Danny fans are not internet users. We all know that he would never have finished in 3rd place (or even been a finalist) if his actual popularity reflected his online popularity.

    I wish there was a way his site could somehow be merged with this one. Maryann, you might have a point that this extremely well run site is partially to blame, LOL! I do like the fact there are threads there, with different topics, but good Lord, something needs to be done with the graphics too! The font is way too light, it needs to show up better against the background. If you have Mission management’s email, please post it here so we can all nag them. This is really important.
    I also think we could try tweeting Danny himself to talk to his management about this. Certainly he must be aware of this too.

    I just sent a letter to Mission Management to back up everything Maryann said to them. I think if all of us write them a letter, they will see that Danny has fan support that wants to see some improvements in his official site. In my letter, I complimented them (I didn’t want to sound too whiney) and then reiterated what Maryann said.

    When I try and copy the information over here it looks funny and doesn’t line up right. But you can sign up for an account at allaccess and just copy the link I posted and put it in the address bar and it will show you the information about some of the spins that Danny has gotten this week.

    It doesn’t list all of the radio stations who have been playing him this week. But I believe that it lists the radio stations that have been playing him the most this week.

    And the site shows how many spins he got this week and last week from those radio stations. As well as lists the number of spins he gets in the overnight, morning, afternoon and evening periods.

    All the RCA sites appear to be down. I can’t get on either Danny’s or David Cook’s site right now–I’m trying to promote Danny over there on their thread about season 8 idols. Since his site regularly shows over a thousand fans online, I figured this could only help him get more traffic. Surely some of those people are Danny fans too.

    I just added Danny’s website information to his Wikipedia entry. Hopefully no one will remove it. I’ve had problems with other people removing stuff I’ve posted on his Wiki entry.

    Also I was looking at TWOP and saw that the mod had locked the Adam Lambert thread again, and I think that they aren’t going to open that thread again until maybe Christmas. I was looking through that thread and I don’t think that the mod should have shut it down this time.

    Also the mod left a note in the Danny thread telling people to focus more on Danny in the thread and not on what does or does not constitute Country music, or on Country music. I think that the lastest mod on TWOP overmoderates the site. Danny’s official website doesn’t have enough moderation and TWOP has too much moderation.

    I don’t see anything wrong with mentioning Country music in the Danny thread considering the fact that he is now a Country artist, and that subject is relevant to him.

    Thanks for posting their contact information. You know, I wasn’t even sure if they had anything to do with the actual website. In fact, I thought it was being run by someone at RCA Nash. Really did look to me, from the response that I got, that they in fact are integral to the management of the site. Could be wrong, but this is all good.

    You are right about that font issue too, Helio. It is too darn light to see! I also don’t care too much for the font being used for the thread headers. To me, it looks goofy.

    Hate to be critical of them when they appear to be doing so much else right by Danny, but they’ve got to clean it up on that website. Today’s world demands more. I’m not buying that bit about Danny’s people not being on the internet. We’re talking about an entirely different market right now, with him being played on the radio and releasing his single. He must have a user friendly website. It is integral to his success, because he needs each and every promotional tool he can muster.

    Connie, great recap of your adventures the other night. It was very nice again to meet you. The other person who came from Texas with Lori and posts here and on twitter as man5ell is named Darla, not Darcy. Can easily understand how you would not have been able to hear that too well with the loud noise from those booming speakers inside Coyote Joe’s. Lol! It didn’t bother me too much that night, but the next day was definitely reaching for the advils from time to time ;)

    Just to comment on the site traffic, I guess I don’t feel too worried about that. We have to keep in mind, David Cook and Carrie won AI and got all the attendant winner publicity, had singles or albums out for sale, and otherwise had some things going for them in terms of web traffic that haven’t yet unfolded for Danny. Not because he doesn’t deserve them, but because from what we seem to be seeing his team has a more gradual rollout in mind that we can already see building with his debut at the Opry in a few weeks, the video being filmed, etc.

    Also in addition to here at Iheart, a lot of Danny fans seem to post to his Facebook and Myspace changes. As his official site gets more interesting and has more content, people should be drawn to it. But even if it never gets a huge fan community compared to some other AI performers, if people buy his music and come out to his concerts that’s really the test of how successful he is and how strong his fanbase is. For the web traffic, also a comparison for Danny may be how active fan activity there is online for other new country artists. He may compare a lot better when you look at it that way. Just using the group from the other day, how many online fans would Mallory Hope or David Nail pull online?

    When his video goes for play at GAC and CMT, that may be the first real national-wide exposure Danny has had. Hopefully it will continue to grow from there for additional appearances, including when he will be featured on AI9.

    Amy (aek) posted this at mj’s about her experience from Coyote Joe’s. She has some observations that track pretty well with what I posted last night in my long rambly comments. (sorry ’bout those again, lol)

    ” I was at the performance at Coyote Joe’s the other night, and I’ve got to say that, while all of the videos I’ve seen are nice, I don’t think that they do Danny’s voice justice. His voice was just gorgeous! I think that his voice really impressed the crowd. There were a couple of guys standing to the right of me, and during “Oh Holy Night,” after one of Danny’s more awesome moments, one guy looked at the other with wide eyes, and said, “Wow!”

    The club/bar was very large, and had a good sized dance floor. Danny had the biggest crowd on the dance floor croweded around the stage of the three performers that I saw–Mallory Hope, Danny, and David Naill. I had to leave fairly early, since I had to be at work the next day. Anyway, Danny had a great reception from the crowd. You may hear some talking in the video, but I can assure you that the crowd around the stage seemed to be very into Danny’s performance.

    If I have one complaint for Danny, I wish he had just sung Oh Holy Night alone. His vocals were so beautiful that I hated for him to let the crowd interrupt him. Still, he did a great job, and I think, won some new fans. “

    Danny is saying the single (MBD) will be on iTunes Monday (yay).

    I haven’t heard an iTunes date for It’s Only or any of the other songs. I hope there is some chance they may release one or more for sale also, perhaps after MBD has been out a month or two. But with this being Danny’s very first CD, they may want to wait if they think that will build up the most anticipation for the album.

    Re: DGO site traffic. Not sure if it’s appropriate to compare Danny with David Cook. David Cook won American Idol – and along with that, came a lot more promotion and visibility. By the same token, the winner will always have more expectation to perform in the market place.

    Kris, as the winner of AI, selling 80K copies of his album the first week out was considered a big disappointment by industry watchers. It was the lowest debut of all the winners.
    But if Danny, as the 3rd place finisher sold that amount, it would be considered a hit.

    So it works both ways.

    Also, just because people do not continuously post to DGO, it doesn’t mean the fans aren’t out there. I’ve definitely seen them in places like You Tube, blog responses, critics’ websites.

    That’s definitely good that Danny is showing a 95 spin increase from last week. Last week once the published chart came out for the week mediabase had Danny down for 95 spins. So based on what is posted on the spincrease chart, Danny should have at least 190 spins for the week right now.

    Hopefully he’ll end up with over 200 spins this week, before the published chart comes out which I believe is Sat/Sun. I am glad that Danny is getting more airplay.

    Okay it looks like we can work with the All Access site and get enough info to see the direction Danny’s single is going. I loved mediabase because it was real time and you could see who was playing Danny’s single and when. As Danielle posted above Danny is on several of the charts. He is on the add board chart, the spincrease chart and the take off chart, all good. Last time I had checked before I lost access to mediabase, Danny had been added to 27 stations – it looks like he now has been added to 33. The Taking off chart says 3 more stations have added his single. Spincrease chart says 95 new spins with 33 stations. The 7 days rolling report only goes to 52 and Danny is not on the list YET. After the holidays without Christmas songs, he should be. I’m still not giving up trying to get back into the mediabase site.

    Based on what information we have gathered, Danny is going in a positive direction with his single.

    I think that he should be able to break 200 spins this week for “My Best Days”, which would be double the amount of spins he got last week.

    I noticed on the spincrease chart some Christmas songs up there, that had increased in spins as well. Those songs will be gone after the Holiday season is over and it will make it easier for Danny to get up the chart.

    I’m not sure where he will be on Billboard this week or what his rank on mediabase will be this week. I don’t think that he will break the top 50 this week on either chart, but he’s getting more airplay which is definitely good.

    I think that once his single goes for sale next week, we might see him go up the Billboard chart, the week after next. Because Billboard ranks based on airplay and sales.

    Danny sales for “My Best Days” might be enough to rank him higher than #55 on the chart, the week after his song goes on sale.

    Gokeyguy, Cowboy Cassanova is not on the chart as a current song anymore. It is now considered recurrent. In 2008 they changed the country chart – if a song loses spins for two weeks no matter how long they have been on the chart – the song is changed to recurrent. That is why it is important that My Best Days continues to increase in spins and move up the charts. If they take the song off the current chart and move to recurrent, it is no longer charting and the highest it made it on the chart before changing to recurrent is where it will have peaked and will be the final chart position. Hope that makes sense. For example, Bucky Covington’s new single was not on the chart near as long as some other songs for example Luke Bryans Do I which has been on the chart for many many weeks. Bucky’s song started to lose spins and they took it off the current chart. I think it peaked at #43. We do not want Danny’s song to peak that low. Not sure how high it has to go to be considered a hit. Don’t think peaking in the top 40 will be considered good enough.

    I had wondered why Cowboy Casanova wasn’t still on the Country chart. That song went recurrent fast especially considering how well Carrie’s album is selling. But “Temporary Home” is now doing well for her on the chart.

    We don’t have to worry about Danny going recurrent for at least the next couple of weeks. He’s increased in airplay this week and next week his song goes for sale, which will hopefully help him out.

    Also I think that Country music does view songs that make the top 40 as top 40 hits. They have mentioned country songs that have made the top 40 on the Country chart as top 40 hits. I would like to see Danny at least make the top 40 but hopefully better than that on the Country chart.

    I see that songs like “Red Light” by David Nail have been on the Country chart for a long time. I hope that Danny’s song can stay on the Country chart for a long time as well.

    It can take a song quite a while to move up the charts. Chris Young’s Gettin You Home was released in April and didn’t make it to #1 until September. According to Brian Mansfield, the goal is for the single to peak at the time the album is released. Brian Mansfield also said it is not a good sign if they release a second single before the album drops. The best scenario for Danny is for the My Best Days to peak in February/March at the time the album drops. Afte the album drops, they will release a second single to keep the album going. In my opinion, Danny’s fans need to fully support My Best Days by buying the single and requesting it on radio. They should give up on the idea of a second single before the album is released because that is not what his label wants to happen.

    Ellen B, that is definitely what we need. Danny’s song needs to keep increasing in spins each week in order for him to stay on the chart. Hopefully his song will do continue to do that. And if he gets more adds from radio stations that will help as well, because then more stations will be playing his song.

    I think that right now he’s in a good position with “My Best Days”. If he can keep increasing his amount of spins each week he will be fine. And once the Holiday season is over it will be easier for him to climb the chart, because he won’t have the Christmas songs to compete with.

    Sales have nothing to do with the Hot County songs chart which is based only on airplay. Sales and airplay combined determine the Hot 100 on Billboard. The Hot 100 includes songs from all genres of music. I don’t think Danny fans should hold back at all buying his single on Monday. The first week sales are going to be important to him. The first week sales will signal to TPTB how many loyal fans he has from the show. Sales after that should be to new fans outside the AI bubble who hear his song on the radio. That is why radio airplay is very important. We alone cannot make Danny’s single a success.

    I think that the mediabase chart is only based on airplay, and not sales, while the Billboard chart is based on sales and airplay. I don’t think that we have to spread out the purchases we make of Danny’s song. I think that we can buy all of our purchases of his song at one time if we want.

    I believe that his move up the charts will mostly be based on airplay. And while sales will help him chart higher on Billboard, I think that airplay will help him the most on both the Billboard and mediabase Country charts. And I believe that the mediabase Country chart only ranks based on airplay.

    MCB – I was living back home when the Danny’s season on AI began. I was not able to vote for him and I was so disappointed and depressed when Danny was voted off cuz I didn’t do anything cuz I was not able to do anything… having said that, we can support Danny in any way now cuz of his new music career that can reach international fans too… :D

    Mr. Bing, I think Amy B. spoke with Danny about international fans when she met up with him at Coyote Joe’s. I understood Danny to indicate that his music would be available to international fans, although it wasn’t clear when.
