Good morning all!!
I hope you all had good weekends? I finally caught up with everything late last night! I have been so busy this weekend with family, friends and Christmas stuff , I haven’t been able to post!
Looks as though Danny’s single is doing well according to FOGS & Steph information – I really think the song will ‘pick up’ more after Christmas as well. It is the same in the UK – songs that aren’ t for Christmas just get lost in the festive season!
But afterwards, it all calms down and then back to normal! I think ‘Best Days’ is a feel good song for the New Year and am sure it will still do very well
ELLEN: Just to let you know , there was a show on TV in the UK last night about Susan Boyle. It was hosted by Piers Morgan and she sang with her idol: Elaine Paige!
She met Donny Osmond as well!! The most moving moments were at the end when she received a disc for a million sales of her CD, she broke down in tears….& she sang ‘I dreamed a Dream’. I am not a huge fan of her voice but really enjoyed it – I found it to be a very ‘moving’ show…
Oh and we had the ‘X Factor’ final last night in the UK. A young ‘Geordie’ lad called Joe won. He deserved to as he was my favourite right from the start along with Stacey.
He is such a lovely, sweet young man and I see a lot of Danny in him. He also has a good voice, not as good as Danny though.
I just hope they hook him up with a good producer and decent songs or I fear he may ‘disappear’ as so many male contestants have done in the past. It seems the female winners do better over here.
Anyway that’s it so far – off do some more work! Oh and Jason, my sister recently had a sinus infection for 3 weeks before the doctor finally treated it!! It is awful and I empathise with you.
Hello Dannyland (Hi Julie if you are still here)! Winter has arrived to the Southern Finland. It was so cold this morning ( – 12 degrees celcius and hard wind ). Hope you all have a good week and those of you who have recently lost a close family member or a friend are getting some comfort from Danny’s music and his heartfelt message.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the music video for MBD. I actually really like that song and feel it’s going to do very well on the charts. I want to buy the single, but it seems to be impossible to do so unless you are in US and can access ITunes. I don’t even know whether singles are sold in CD format anymore.
I think there are some technical issues at Danny’s OS, because certain data on your personal account sometimes is there and sometimes it isn’t. I still don’t know how check who has added me to their friends and could see that Pam was also talking about the same issue yesterday.
Latrece, hope you get to read this comment, because I definitely don’t want you to stop coming to the site. I’m always looking forward to read your comments and already miss Cheryl, because she isn’t here like she used to be. I need to get my twitter account sorted out, so that we can share Danny news.

or the USA’s snow storms, drifts etc…I am lucky where I live by the sea side. I have noticed over the years that in our town, the weather isn’t as ‘extreme’as it used to be!

I wanna say I spent about 5 hours from midnight till 5:00 AM going through the AI Tour section of the website and I am only on page 8 I think…..I am finally getting to the MIlwaukee and Madison section and it is really cool to read everyone’s experiences!
Anyway…..totally different topic…..if Shirl sees this…..I still don’t understand why you(Shirl) made the my “meeting” Danny comment such a big deal…..I wasn’t complaining in the least…I am very grateful that I have gotten the chance to see and hear him sing LIVE and be in the same vicinity as him….and no, I didn’t realize or think about people overseas or in the US not being able to even see him let alone talk or meet him.
You made a comment about all the others that have the money and time to fly all over the country to see him…I don’t have any money really what-so-ever leftover raising 2 small children and no time trying to work fulltime along with my wife to go and see Danny Gokey all over the country.
I have had a few opportunities seeing him up close…..the Milwaukee Brewers game, the lakefront Idol homecoming, the front row Idol concert in Milwaukee, the Grafton Christmas parade and concert, and although I’ve seen him many times I was just saying it would be nice to finally meet him someday and actually talk to him. That’s all….I think Shirl blew my comment way out of proportion and secondly….I will not apologize to anyone for one second that I live on the border of Milwaukee yet alone Wisconsin….
I have watched American Idol from the beginning way back to Kelly Clarkson and I/we have been waiting 8 seasons for somebody like Danny Gokey to come along and represent Milwaukee and our state of Wisconsin.
The last thing I want to say is that I am very new to iheart and even though I know Shirl probably didn’t mean to say anything nasty…it sure felt like it to me. I know a few of you have posted to me that she is a really nice woman and didn’t mean what she said and I am sure that she is…..I just think Shirl needs to think twice about what she posts or at least think about the way things being written over the Internet can get easily misinterpreted the wrong way by another person.
Enough drama….I’m over it and Shirl I know you apologized to me and really it’s no big deal…I am really glad I found iheart and I have met so many great people not only on the website but also in person. And Shirl your one of them.

Julie, I’m not that patient with all technical stuff when I have so little time to spare for anything else but work and Xmas preparations at the moment..
I’m planning to purchase Danny’s album for quite a few people and if I’m not able to purchase the first single I’ll definitely do my share to support Danny’s album sales in March!

Hi Jason, I’ve been on this site since June and as an overseas fan I get to look at things from the distance. This site has an amazing variety of personalities, but one thing we all seem to have in common is that we are very strong minded and also feel strongly about things. At times people misunderstand each other or somebody’s comment is taken the wrong way, but things calm down and then we carry on like nothing ever happened.
I personally feel very happy for anybody who has been able to meet Danny and am thrilled to read everybody’s recap from the concerts/meetings. This way I get to be closer to Danny and also feel the excitement that builds up here every time when one of the Iheart Danny fans gets the opportunity to meet their idol.

Danny’s song has moved up since last night on the Country chart. It is now #67 on the Country chart. It was #65 earlier this morning, but it’s went down a couple of spots since then. I am glad to see that Danny’s song is rising on the Country chart.

Danny’s song is #67 on the charts with 30 spins in one day but without the Christmas songs it would be higher and possibly in the top 50. There are at least 20 Christmas songs ahead of him on the charts. Keep requesting from your local country radio station. I am so happy that WMZQ added the song – I may finally hear it on the radio.
talking about Christmas songs ，maybe danny can sing a few of them ，like “Hallelujah”，i kind get this feeling he will sing it perfectly.

I think that it’s going to be awesome once Danny cracks Top 50. It might not take him too long to do that. He would have done that already had it not been for all the Christmas songs ahead of him.
Also his song officially goes for adds today, it’s going to be exciting to see him get more adds and to see his radio airplay increase even more.

I can see Danny’s song at amazon.com. I didn’t see where you could preorder it, but I did put it on my “wishlist.”
There aren’t any comments associated to that page for Danny’s song, but eventually there should be some place to provide them. I did give it a rating though.
I also noticed for iTunes you can add comments? I saw some when Michael Sarver’s songs were up last week, although the comments were really crazy over the top. Best song in the history of the universe-type stuff, which was kinda funny for that kerosene love song, lol.

If Danny can sustain and grow from 30 spins a day, that’s great. I noticed the one time I looked at the charts, there was a big different for the songs that were getting hundreds or thousands of spins, from those that were placing lower.
Plus the more spins of course, the more people are hearing the song on radio so they can learn about it and try to buy it and the eventual album. And the higher Danny’s song is ranked, the harder it would be for any stations who may be reluctant to play it on air. So seems all good to me.

Have to agree with you Mr. Bing. The materials chosen to manufacture the SHF bracelets aren’t the best. Also, doesn’t lend itself well to the unisex thing. They are kind of bulky and don’t hold up well. Not that any of this is important to the cause… just saying.
Maybe, they’ll update the style soon. Might be nice to see a leather strap with engraving. That would be nice.

Hi everyone- I haven`t been around because Saturday was spent on the Danny campaign and Sunday was spent being very ill, my muscles seized-and it was scarey-Insomnia is something I endure, too Jason-so I have every sympathy with you! Julie-it`s so nice to see you are posting on here again-I had to watch the X Factor on ITV 2-as I was too ill to do anythng earlier- Joe has a great voice-but, sorry, I liked Olly better-he is a `local lad`-really, Witham isn`t far from me and I used to live in Maldon, very close-He was so emotional after the winner`s song and I thought he did a great job with it-I loved Leona as well- At the end of the day, as we know from Danny`s experience, they will both do well I`m sure- I did remember to DM Stephanie on Saturday- I hope she posts some photos! Latrece, what a great gift from your daughter-you are very lucky! I`m unsure about Amazon-can we buy the single in the UK or not?? I will investigate Play.com. I really have to slow down-but it was good to get this campaign underway with DGUK-and, in the early hours I had a very nice email from a RADIO STATION-YAY! It is a local station, ironically, called Heart! The presentor said that he has passed on my email to the `powers that be` and they are going to look into getting Danny`s singleplayed-Now it is available here-I HOPE?!-I am sure it will get some plays-don`t know how the radio stations get hold of it-but can`t get any response from Sony-Anyway, it`s a start!

I love the photo of Danny chosen for today. He got his canines filed down? Oh, that’s too bad. I will miss those vampire teeth too–but his smile is still gorgeous with or without them. I just hope his straighter teeth won’t make him look more “generic.” To me, his teeth were like his glasses, a kind of visual signature. I’ll have to look at some new smiling photos closely but I’m sure it won’t change his overall look. He has one of the most sincere smiles I’ve ever seen.
Jason, I’m glad things got smoothed over with Shirl, I guess I missed any kind of drama. I haven’t been able to get on as much as I’d like and sometimes I miss out on what’s going on. Shirl is a very sweet lady though. Like most others here, she has a heart of gold–just like the man we all admire so much. Danny is an intense and passionate person, and I think his fans tend to reflect that and be the same way. Sometimes the intensity takes a negative turn and from time to time we clash (not too often though). Anyway, its good to see you posting here. I always see you on Twitter. I definitely understand about the money thing. While I’m always happy for others who can hop on a plane or drive cross country to go see Danny, sometimes it stings that I can’t do the same. I’m a divorced mom, supporting myself and two teenagers on my own, and as a result I pretty much live paycheck to paycheck, so I know how it is. But for me, one good thing is that Danny seems to be in my “neck of the woods” a lot, so it’s only a matter of time before I can see him again. But I do always love reading everyone else’s recaps. It’s like being there myself.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I really want to see Danny get interviewed by Barbara Walters. Ms. Walters is better than any other interviewer I’ve ever seen at getting her guests to open up and get very deep inside themselves. She is able to reduce the most stoic and emotionally shut-off guests to cry on her show, and while I HATE seeing Danny unhappy, something about the sight of that man in tears (preferably happy ones, or from being touched) just melts me into a puddle of goo. I just love it when he speaks from his heart and opens up, it makes me love him even more. Barbara Walters just interviewed Adam, and I think she should interview Danny too, even if he’s not on her list of “most interesting” celebrities. I don’t know how anyone else feels about this, but I think we should tweet Ms. Walters to have Danny on her show. Anyone with me on this? Ellen or Oprah would be great too. He definitely needs more national exposure, not just these local short interviews that not too many people ever see.
FOGS and Lizzy, it’s so heartening to see MBD moving up the charts! I think it will be a hit, but I think if Tiny Life is the next single, it will be an even bigger hit. They are being very smart about how he’s rolled out, and I think it’s working.

Dee, tooth pain is worse than labor! Ugh! But then again, I had C-sections both times so I didn’t experience the most intense part of labor. I actually heard the worst pain you can experience is kidney stones. People I know who have had them said it’s much worse than labor.

Hi Everyone…..New poster here. I have to share a story with you. I was with relatives Friday night and of course I mentioned Danny Gokey (who Ive been following for some time now). Well I found out that a young cousin of mine (through marriage) is actually a friend of Danny’s guitarist Def’s wife. She also had met Danny before the American Idol auditions and said he was very down to earch. I mentioned that from what I’ve seen and heard, he still is!! Sometimes it’s such a small world!!
Thank you all for sharing so much info. on this site about Danny and his exciting career. It’s interesting to note the wide age range of Danny fans everywhere. I happen to be in the “senior citizen” category….but feel you’re never to old to enjoy all the wonderful music Danny is presenting to us =)

My son looked at my silly like when I started squealing, but oh well I get so few surprises in life.

Dee, wow, 10 lbs and no pain? I was too small (both my kids were over 8 lbs) and never dilated so they had to cut me open the first time and the second time was so close to the first they thought it might be dangerous for me to give birth naturally so I had a scheduled C-section.
One great thing about having C-sections is the babies come out gorgeous, their heads aren’t all squishy looking. LOL Sorry if that was too TMI.

I don’t see anyone treating you like “crap”. Many are very kind to you, in particular Helio, Steph Cindy- when you ask questions over and over that we have already covered or that can be easily found by looking at the info AmyErika have posted, they are very patient and answer you.
I’d like to also point out that no where officially has it been said Danny had his canines filed; Maryann said it appeared that he had. And no one gave you grief at the time; it was just pointed out that all he said was that they were whitened and he had invisalign.

Hi everyone, wow it’s great to read down through here and see all the adds popping up and Danny moving up the chart!
I haven’t heard Danny on the radio yet, it will be so exciting when it happens. But at least I am getting an education on current country music. Some I like, some I don’t. If I never hear the one about the beer belly again, that will be ok with me.
But I found myself just sitting in the driveway listening when I got home from the grocery store yesterday, because I wanted to hear the end of a song. I don’t know who sings it or what it’s called but it was about a man whose daughter had run away from home, and he left a message on his answering machine in case she called…”It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, I still love you. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, you can still come home.” A very sweet song. But people need Danny’s song so that they can get cheered up from all the sad ones! 
Danny just got another add from a Seattle radio station. So far he has gotten 13 new adds from radio stations, and 24 adds in total.
Afternoon, everybody! First chance I had to stop in here, so busy with baking and addressing cards, sadly not as much Danny time as I would like. Jason dear, if you are still here, not to worry about my comments a few days ago on here. Sometimes I can be a bit blunt but as I explained, my only point was that not all of us have been as fortunate as you have been, to live in or near Milwaukee whereas you have been so lucky to have seen Danny perform. It’s all cool now, though and glad we’ve moved on. I do hope you get better soon because a sinus infection PLUS pinkeye is certainly no fun!
Grandmaster, Cindy, Hannele, and any others who brought up the subject…..all of Danny’s singles that will be released will be in digital MP3 format ONLY. Sad, but true. The days when we could buy a CD single in the store are sadly gone. I regret that so very much because the pic that would come with Danny’s CD single would have been such a nice little treat!

Oh, and I gotta say this too! I know a lot of you loved Danny’s dracula teeth but I for one think he looks SO much better now with those teeth filed down a bit, and with the whitening and straightening, his smile is just drop-dead gorgeous! He is, in one word, Dannylicious!
Mr. CB if you are still here, buy a little bottle of black nail polish to paint the buttons on your bracelet. Worked very well for me. My bracelet has held up really good for being just canvas but then I make sure I never get it wet, take it off before getting in the shower. I have one I wear all the time, but a second one I wear instead, for a more dressy occasion. At least this bracelet is a step up from those rubber wristbands!
Any one else notice that Danny is wearing his bracelet with the wording pointing out where people can read it, rather than the other way he used to wear it before?
Don’t know if this was mentioned before, but happy to report that Radio station FM106.1 here in our area (Milwaukee) has listed Danny’s new song on their home page (which you also can click on and listen to) – under the “What’s New From FM106.1″ column.

WQDR-FM, a radio station in Raleigh, North Carolina has just added Danny’s song, now he has 14 adds from today, and 25 adds in total.
Another radio station WRNS-FM, in Greenville, NC has just added Danny’s song.
I am glad to see that all of these stations are adding Danny’s song, he’s doing really well with radio adds today. He now has 26 adds in total, 15 so far today.
I was looking at Danny’s wikipedia page and noticed this…

Just an observation about Danny’s teeth. I noticed in the Michael J TV interview that Danny seemed to be playing with his teeth with his tongue – like he’s not used to the way they feel. You know when you have something done at the dentist and you can’t help putting your tongue on whatever teeth have been fixed? LOL I think that is what Danny is doing now that he has had some work done! So funny and cute!

Only have a second, but hi all and yay about all those radio station adds. Hope they keep coming.
That would be great if Danny will be at the Opry to perform. Tbo though, I thought he was being advertised for the “fan festival” part of Sound and Speed — which seems like a huge meet & greet held in the big concert venue where the CMAs took place. Maybe they do some performing in that environment as the artists come in, but I didn’t think it was the same as being on a concert stage really.
Danny is still holding onto the #65 Spot on the Country chart even though he hasn’t gotten any airplay in several hours. I can’t wait until all of those stations that added him start playing him, that will definitely help him make his way up the chart.

The site charges $10.00 a month.
The $10.00 a month is added to my cell phone bill every month…it automatically goes on….you can cancel at any time….basically, it comes down to $2.00 a ringtone which really isn’t that bad. When you initially sign-up you get 10 free credits, so a total of 20 credits, each ringtone is two credits. After you download your 10 ringtones you can cancel if you want. I know have over I think 7o ringtones and they stay in your “locker” on the website….so you re-download then to your phone at any time. I have been with the website for awhile…..never had any problems! They always seem to have the latest stuff up on the site….for example…before Kris Allens CD came out..they had most of the ringtones of his album before it was sale to the general public. Anyway…you pick your ringtone and its sent to your phone and then all you have to do is download it. Anyway, even if you don’t sign-up, it is fun just to go on the site and listen to new clips of songs and they have other cool stuff on the site as well. Let me know what you all think!

TWOP stands for Television Without Pity. It’s a site where people discuss a lot of different television shows. There is a section over there for American Idol and forums where people talk about the different contestants from each season.
Danny has his own forum over there, and for a lot of this year received a lot of hate on that forum. But fortunately more Danny fans are posting over there now, and his thread has been mostly positive for a while now.
You have to be careful what you post over there though and have to follow the rules because the moderators there are very strict.

TWOP, what FOGS said about TWOP. It’s a good place to post about Danny now, not too many haters, and there aren’t any “dumb” or pointless posts, even the haterish ones. But you can’t be too OTT in your posts (either negative or positive). I always have to be careful not to get too fangirly over there or you run the risk of being moderated. You also can’t cut and paste other posts (providing a link is ok) or repeat yourself incessantly. Lots of rules, but I like it there because it’s more of a “thinker’s” site, not that this one isn’t, but it helps to back up what you say there with facts or sources, and to make them well written.
You won’t see any “zOMGGGGGG he’s so cuuuuutttteee!” posts over there. You would probably be banned if you made such a post, lol

Hey guys – I was just looking on the E-bay section on the iheart page for the first time and saw the Danny Gokey tour clothes for sale…
Anyway….the boots are for sale and the person selling them said the shoe size was 8 1/2. I wear a shoe size 11 1/2. Is Danny’s feet that small….and secondly does anyone know how tall he is? Just clarifying some things:
Danny won’t perform at the Sprint Sound & Speed Festival. He’s on the Fan Festival, on the second day, that is an evening of autographs and Q&A. There is no performance scheduled.
“On Saturday, Jan. 9 the event continues at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium, where fans of racing and country music will have the opportunity to get up-close and personal with drivers, team owners, and top-name artists for autographs, story-telling, and question-and-answer sessions.”
The OS did post the Video Tour Update. That’s where I got it from.
I’m still praying that iTunes Australia decides to release MBD but it’s a long shot as AI aired on cable TV here, not open TV. If I’m not mistaken, UK aired AI on open TV as I remember watching the Hollywook Week results on TV while I was there visiting a friend, geeking out about how good Danny was and making my friend watch his audition and Hollywood Week performances in a loop on my notebook. She was like ‘Yeah, I get it, he’s good’. LOL!
Got Country Aircheck email today, subject: mediabase adds – they had a list of the songs and artists that received radio adds today. The list had approx 60 names and Danny was listed 2d right after Carrie Underwood’s Temporary Home and behind Zac Brown Band’s Highway 20 Ride. I am assuming the list is in order of the number of adds they received.
This newsletter goes out to all radio professionals. It is great to see Danny’s name listed with other country artists.

This was following some jousting back and forth in the thread after hater comments suggesting Danny was just given a list of songs to sing and had no input on his album. As a variation of the broader idea that he was forced into country against his will.

Interesting looking at that ACM Awards youtube channel.
Danny’s video was just announced today by their twitter, although of course our Danny-watching network caught wind of it a few days ago, lol.
He has 436 views, which compares very favorably to how many people watch videos of other artists. Including some where the videos have been up for much much longer. Darius Rucker has a video that’s been up for 2 mos with over 1000 plays, LeeAnn Rimes has one that’s also 2 mos old with about 800.
Danny is also still miles ahead of Darius Rucker on that KBULL youtube channel that posted two videos from each on the same day. Darius has ~90 views, total. Danny has more than 2600 for his two songs, mostly on Back at One which was new to everyone and of course, we really liked it.

Does anyone know if the other songs which are on the “adds” list with Danny are official singles vs. extra tracks for those artists’ albums? Carrie’s is probably an extra track, but all of hers have done really well on iTunes and even airplay.
I wonder if that female singer with Danny possibly could be Brandon’s wife, if she’s back from her appearances with Carrie. Only pic of her I’ve seen is the one where she was posing with their cutie dog who had passed away. She was blond with long hair, I think.

I’m still trying as I have time to sort through the twitter leads and curiosities, but haven’t attempted to figure out how the radio statistics work or where they can be found. Glad we have people here who do know, or are learning for all of our benefit. Lol!

I called the local radio station here, WRNS, and spoke with the afternoon DJ. Really nice guy, when I said I was calling to support MBD, he said “great song isn’t it!!!” I agreed. He asked me a few questions about why I liked Danny. I said “Anyone who followed American Idol knows his story, foundation and inspiration. Those that don’t watch are about to meet a really good singer and outstanding performer. When all is said and done, good singer singing good music.”
Can’t wait to see video of Danny singing Oh Holy Night, I know that one already exists but that was fluke as Jamar was suppose to sing harmony with him but couldn’t make the taping so he had to sing melody and harmony.

Hey! I need some advice all. I am really perplexed about Danny’s official site, and am seeing an access issue. I know, I know, not my job, but hey!
My concern is this: Any time someone runs a google search for Danny Gokey, the first thing they do not see is the web address for DGO. Sure, they see iheart and facebook, but what about his official site? No where to be seen, unless I am missing something.
Furthermore, when you go to the Sony Music Entertainment site and look up the RCA Nash artist (Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Jake Owen, Chuck Wicks and Chris Young), in all cases but one (that being Chuck Wicks) you can view the official website for each artist under the contact page. Yet, nothing for Danny.
Same thing for Carrie Underwood, and even the non-country folks like David Cook. Query their names, up comes their official website address at the top of the page.
This concerns me, because quite frankly some people may be looking to find more information about Danny, and are having a hard time. Doesn’t make much sense to me.
Was thinking of alerting TPTB at DGO, but I am afraid that nobody is home! Sad, but true.
Therefore, I was wondering if Amy, Erika, or any of you that seem to have an inside connection to Danny could make him aware of this concern.
It is hard to imagine that nobody has noticed this before. Where is his management company?

IDF, stands for Idolforums, a website where people talk about American Idol and American Idol contestants. Each year there are separate forums for each season’s contestants. Danny has a forum over there where his fans post at.
The Danny fans over there are really nice, but the forum isn’t as active as it used to be. Right now only a few people post there a day.

How often should we call into the radio stations? Like once a day or a few times a week? I have noticed that there are quite a few Danny fans from NC, and there have been several NC stations that have added Danny. So some of us from NC can definitely call those stations and request his song.

I think it can take a while to get that up and running. My clinic website has been up for over a month and we STILL cannot get it to come up on google. I guess that is not uncommon.
Jason the IDF forum is similar to AI forums in that there are seperate sections where all the different fans discuss their fav; as well as a General Discussion where you comingle. They run those every year with each new season and in between. Definitely not a hate free zone like ihrt.
I’m feeling kinda sad for you right now, Katy. I don’t think anyone means you any harm here.
I think in time, you’ll learn that we all lead our lives based on our own self imposed perceptions and filters, that sometimes they do not reflect reality. That is another way of saying you are just young, Katy. Lucky, lucky you!
I know it doesn’t always feel that way to you right now, but trust me. You get years to navigate this world and find out how to best manage personal relationships, and say things in a manner that is effective for you and not offensive to others. Jessika Baier, 21, was heading west about 3:15 a.m. near Pierce Road in Washtenaw County’s Sylvan Township when her vehicle left the road, according to a Michigan State Police news release.
The vehicle traveled into the median and struck an embankment, which caused the vehicle to go airborne and overturn, according to the release, sent by a trooper at the Ypsilanti post.
Baier died at the scene, said state police Sgt. Tony Cuevas.
Cuevas said police do not know what caused her vehicle to leave the road. The road conditions were not bad and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
According to statements made by her family, she likely was heading to work, Cuevas said.
The crash remains under investigation, he said.
Baier, who has won dozens of singing competitions over the last several years, was featured on American Idol earlier this year.
She competed against contestants in Puerto Rico and was among the final 16 who performed in front of the show’s famed judges, including Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul.
Baier didn’t make the cut to the show’s national competition, but a month later was offered a job at WKHM-FM (105.3.)
Station Manager Jamie McKibbin – who was also Baier’s morning co-host – said at the time when it comes to radio you either ‘have it or you don’t.’ He knew right away Baier had it.
“I was really looking for somebody who was fun and local,” he said in February.
Baier, a graduate of Michigan Center High School, has been singing she was very young.
As a teenager she was named Miss Jackson County Outstanding Teen and Jackson Teen
Idol and had leading roles in several local plays, including “Annie” and “Grease.”

Search engine placement is a whole art of its own. IHDG here is probably placing higher than Danny’s official site because it has so much content about Danny, both from the articles Amy and Erika post and then all of our chattering away and links which are indexed by google. Also more sites are linked to IHDG since it’s been around longer; google considers that in its ranking logic.
As Danny’s official site has more content, becomes better known and more links go to it from other places, its placement in the various search engines will rise.
Eventually also you’d expect RCA to start running some ads online like those we see all the time for Kris, Adam and Allison at AI sites. I’m not sure if those go straight to iTunes, or to the artist websites though.

I’ve still been posting things at idf, both in Danny’s forum and sometimes on the GD thread. Even though not many people are actively posting, there are still lurkers. Same thing at AI forum.
I bumped up the thread in GD at idf the other day after it had dropped down some. A few people did respond with posts. Sometimes I think those who go to sites like that are just happy to talk about anything except Adam and Kradam. Lol! So they aren’t always hatin’ on Danny if you post there. More often they ignore, though a few haters will show up.

Billy Gillman was a popular country singer when he was younger about 10 years ago. At ll years old he had a hit single with his song “One voice” and his debut album went platinum. He put out some CD’s with Sony Nashville. I haven’t about him in a while but he’s older now like 18. I think that it’s nice that he thinks that Danny is a good singer.

I probably would not request Danny’s song more than once a day – two to three times a week is good also. When I request it once a day I usually request it from different DJ’s. For example, I listen to Boxer in the morning on WMZQ on my way to work so I request from him and I will requets from Michael J. in the afternoon in hopes of hearing Danny’s song on my way home from work. It is so nice seeing Danny get more spins. Lots of fun to watch – hope it continues.

I thought it was interesting that Billy Gilman was tweeting Brian about Danny being a great singer.
What really interested me in that exchange though was Brian’s comment, comparing Danny’s sound on the album to Steve Winwood. I remember Steve Winwood when he came back and did his solo album in the 80s or 90s? I can’t see much comparison with songs like It’s Only or Tiny Life, but maybe I Still Believe or Be Somebody. Could even see that to some extent with MBD.
Did Steve Winwood ever cross over into country if anyone knows?

There are procedures where Danny’s team can submit his website for google, most likely they have done that. But that won’t by itself drive the rankings up. The site will have to “earn” it by the content and the way the site is used in relation to other sites.
They can buy paid advertising on google and other sites, but the search engine results are their own thing driven by the search engine crawling/indexing and the way the google algorithms work.

That’s interesting about the Steve Winwood comparison. Yesterday I posted about how Danny could actually have been played on rock radio in the 1970s. A lot of 1970s rock was very bluesy and some quite country-ish. Be Somebody in particular has a very blues-rock sound to it. He would have fit in very nicely with the likes of Steve Winwood, Elton John, Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton. I am not saying he sounds dated, because he doesn’t, but his sound is very reminiscent of those 1970s rockers.

Steve Winwood was a critic’s darling for the most part, I think? And hugely successful during that comeback period. So though I don’t totally track the intent of the comparison for Danny’s more country songs, would still consider it on balance as a compliment.
Maybe he’s singling out the bluesy side that we’ve heard in several of the songs. And Brian could also have heard it on others that we haven’t seen yet, like that Crazy… something song he liked.
Interesting, anyway, that he made those remarks.

American Idol finalist Danny Gokey has finished initial recording for his debut country album. In keeping with his image, there are plenty of songs with message of faith and hope, including the lead single “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me.” Danny initially wanted to write songs himself, but his label told him there wasn’t enough time to write and record at the same time. He tells USA Today, “They were so right. There was no time. I’m glad I didn’t, because it would have been a mess.”
Fans of Danny’s R&B side won’t be disappointed with his debut album. He says there’s a little soul injected into a few of the album’s tracks as well.

I definitely think Danny Gokey could appeal to the same audience as Rascal Flatts. My guess is the label is following the tried and true Carrie Underwood path – she got her big break with Jesus Take The Wheel, right? And then follow up the inspirational (which gets an audience more emotional tied to the performer) with something more upbeat. Plus the guy can flat out sing IMO (Dream On notwithstanding).

New Cindy, the people at David Cook’s OS don’t like Danny for the most part (not necessarily a trend among DC fans in general, just at that website). Maryann and I used to post there (that’s where we knew each other from originally) but we started feeling uncomfortable there because of all the Danny hate. I still lurk there, but I haven’t posted in a long time.

Seeing Back at One on the radio tour, and Be Somebody — has had me remembering back to when Danny talked about considering an avenue into “modern soul country,” which had the haters giggling in the summer since they didn’t know what that meant. And I guess I got it wrong, as I thought he meant strictly singing country with a soulful approach. What we’re hearing is country, and soul, together. So hmm.
Having the “Most Anticipated Album of the Year” is like the kiss of death. That is ridiculous pressure to live up to, especially for a new artist.
I am so glad Danny did not win now. Not only because of all the pecking order stuff they are putting Kris through. But if Danny had won, he would have expected to perform at Carrie Underwood’s level. And the haters would have even been more vicious.
But I also think that one of the reasons why Danny got eliminated early – was fans being complacent with voting. Most had predicted he was a shoo-in for the Final 2 – especially having survived Scream On. He did not have the scare of Adam and Kris, who fell into the Bottom 3.
Lesson learn – can’t allow that to happen again – where it really counts – with the sales.

He changed the lyrics from ‘Lovers to kiss’ to ‘People to kiss’ because he forgot them. He sang ‘I’ve got beaches to walk on, dreams to dance with, sunsets to witness and people to kiss’ instead of ‘I’ve got sunsets to witness, dreams to dance with, beaches to walk on and lovers to kiss’. So cute because you can see his brain working and screaming at him ‘that’s not it, that’s not it’! LOL! It was at the beginning of the promo tour and I guess he was still getting used to singing it.
I think Danny’s album is going to get great reviews from the music critics. Just a feeling.
