Having a bought of insomnia….I fell asleep early last night after a long, exhausting day at work. I woke up at 0230 and couldn’t fall back asleep. I then had remembered that Danny’s new website was going to be up today.
Therefore that is why I am at the computer in the middle of the night. I checked for anything new at http://www.dannygokey.com and nothing yet.
I probably had the insomnia somewhere in my subconscious due to knowing that the new website was going to be up today. lol. It is now 0420 and still nothing…..I’ll check back later. Have to try and get back to bed…I have have to be at work at 0700 for my shift. Talk to you all later…..Have a good day!

Hannele, I can’t wait either! I can’t believe today is the day. I am so stoked, not because I want to replace iheart (I will never leave here) but because an official site means all Danny’s fans from various small DG sites, the AI site, here, and even some fans who never posted before will join up on an official site and so we can all meet each other. That’s what happened on DCO when it was put up last September. People came from all the various DC sites and it was like one big party at first. It’s not like that anymore there, unfortunaely.
Everyone who hasn’t done so yet, needs to go read Connie’s recap of her City Limits experience right this second! It has got to be the most amazingly written and moving recap I ever read. It’s not just of City Limits recap but a heartfelt recap of how this woman became a Danny fan and was inspired by him since the day he auditioned, and how he has changed her life. Also, like me, she was a Cookhead at the time she saw Danny’s audition so it was kind of like reading about myself.
Speaking of DC (again!), he performed Lie on the Carrie Underwood special last night, and was incredible. I don’t think it will be released as a single (I think that’s it until his next album, which is a shame) but I do think that song could actually be a country-crossover hit. It has a very country vibe to it and I could actually see it doing well on AC/HAC, and country stations. Doesn’t matter that he’s not a country singer. Danny isn’t really “country” either and I think even Daughtry did a country song and that’s why he was at the CMAs.

Maryann, I sent you an email too. I don’t envy you having to make a choice like that. You know what I think, but I admire your devotion to your daughter, it’s very unselfish. You have as generous and big a heart as Danny.

Hi everyone.
I am not sure that Danny’s site is going to go up to day. Especially since he changed his single. His site was originally supposed to go up today and his single was supposed to go on sale today on his website. But that might not happen, because the single changed.
Hi all Gokey fans near and far! Just wanted to comment on some things which were discussed here yesterday evening;
There are lots of country music fans in Europe for this more modern sounding country. Also line dancing ( or how do you call it in US?) is gaining more fans all the time and there are special clubs were you can practise and perform line dancing.
Tim McGraw,Faith Hill,Taylor Swift,Keith Urban can be found on major record stores and there are also other more specialised shops who have a very large selection of music from various country artists. We have at home a selection of approx. 40 CD’s from different country artists and my boyfriend regularly checks the latest releases via Amazon, where you can also listen to samples on the new songs/artists.
This just shows that country is more popular than some people say/believe.My boyfriend who really likes country music thinks that Danny’s MBD is a great song and wants me to play it on my laptop.
Danny is a perfect fit with country and will do great in that genre.
Can’t wait to see his official site!

Can you believe it that we still have no snow whatsoever in Southern Finland and the temperatures are around +3 – 5 degrees celsius. We used to have plenty of snow and below – degrees this time of the year as a norm, but recent years the winters have been getting milder and shorter and “black” Xmas is becoming quite common.

I’ve got mixed feelings about the Danny’s official site, because I want us to have this site as a special Danny place where it all started. This is where many of us die hard Danny fans got together and created this special place.. I just hope that all of us keep coming back here even though the official site will be up and running soon.

Hi New Cindy, this site is definitely a very special place for me. Think how anxious I was to find out info on Danny after seeing the episode of AI where he got voted off. Coming from Finland and far away from US I was lucky to find this site early on and got great support from everybody here, which just reassured me that I had chosen the right idol and wasn’t funny being a fangirl for the first time in my life.

Hannele I totally agree with you, that’s when I found this site also. One neat thing about Danny’s official site is that it will give us an opportunity to interact with other fans that are not on here. And they are out there. I see them posting to places like You Tube and other sites. And it would be great to interact with them.
For Danny to have longevity in the business, he will not only have to satisfy his AI fan base, but he will have to reach out to new fans as well.
As someone said, the official website will likely be moderated(against the haters).

I’m about to go to bed now. It’s already 12 am. Just want to jump in and say this before bed time. I don’t want to disappoint you, but unfortunatly country music is not popular here.
We know Kelly even we don’t watch AI. We have David Cook and David Archie’s CD in store. I’ve heard Daughtry’s song played in the mall. But none of Carrie’s CD is for sale here.
At least, it’s more popular than gospel music. Maybe that’s why I seriously don’t hope Danny goes gospel or I’ll never got to meet him unless I have the chance to go to the US. To make it a little bit better, country music is the only genre that is introduced in our English class. We all got to learn that “country road take me home” song in high school. So if Danny could be that successful some day, he will also be very popular here.

Just checking in briefly. Just wanted to thank all you lovely girls for all of your positive thoughts and prayers. By the grace of God and the wonderful people here at our local country music station 92.5WXTU Philadelphia, both Marjie and I will be attending Danny’s Triple Nickel performance tomorrow morning at 9AM with both of our daughters!
These people are just the sweetest ever! We’ve been informed that the show will be quite intimate, and that we may bring cameras and plan on having Danny sign an autograph.
So exciting!

She got tickets when she was inquiring about danny being there, for her and a friend, and Maryanns daughter who is also a fan wanted to go too, so Maryann did not want to go if her daughter couldn’t go and it didn’t look like she was going to get extra tickets and found out today they were going to give her more. So we’re all really happy for her. Just a quick recap for you!

Yes, Michael said he was doing “soulful country” (DAnny’s phrase!!!) after Danny committed. And his song came out today, the same day as Danny’s was supposed to be for sale on his website. Can you tell I’m a little irritated?
I do like Michael and I think the song is good, although its not “new country” enough for me, lol. He has a more classic male country voice.
FOGs, how did last week come out as far as Idol sales or isn’t it counted until Wed?

The NWA site has put up a longer version of their video interview with Danny.
After they actually answered my trouble ticket when the video was missing, I thanked them and said some people had wondered if there was more since there was no comment about Kris despite what the text said on their page.

Just checked and it still isn’t up *sigh* I’m not very good when it comes to waiting, but for Danny I’ll make an exception 
I kind figured that he wasn’t done recording the album yet. For some reason I thought is he already done and why was that fast? My question got answered and it’s all good
I’m also curious to hear ‘Crazy not to’. Love/pop ballad, I think he called it. I’m just really ready to get the CD already!!! lol
Curiousity sometimes bugs me, too, but the ending result is so worth the wait sometimes. I’m sure everything will turn out brillant!!!

I see mj has put up a thread about Michael’s singles being out today. A couple of people are saying they think his are better than Danny’s, or that they think he sounds more country.
Although it would not be nice for Michael, I am just soooooo tempted to find that video interview Michael did during the AI tour where he basically said he was an R&B singer, even though people wanted to stereotype him as country due to his look and background. He said he did not particularly like country as a genre except very “selectively.” Mentioning Rascal Flatts and somebody else as the ones he would listen to.
steph- I’ve heard ‘teasers’ on Michael’s myspace page of both of his songs. From what I heard from those there pretty good. I’m not sure if they both sound ‘more country’ than Danny’s so I’ll have to listen to them again. Is there anywhere I can listen to the full versions of either songs of Michael’s?

Danielle, the Dream Center site had them up, they may have been posted to youtube from there? I haven’t seen Cinderella Girl. I did watch the You Are song. I liked most of it, I just couldn’t get over the giggles with that kerosene line in that love song. Lol.
I don’t recall thinking Michael has a particularly country sound though. When I saw him on the tour, struck me that his voice is in a higher range than a lot of male country singers tend to be.

BTW, here’s a video I just found of Danny doing one of the new songs, I Still Believe, at Star 104.3 studios in Asheville, N.C. Obviously, Danny’s studio recording sounds even better, with a doubling of banjo and mandolin doing an opening riff that repeats throughout the song, and some tasty slide guitar lines, as well.

Yeah, Steph I saw that at MJ’s . Kind of funny- the few that said that were Adam fans and one of their big rationale was how Michael’s views were “changed” by Adam so they would buy his song (and because he was a nice guy) . They always like to credit Adam with increasing Michael’s “tolerance” for homosexuality. That makes me laugh, because Michael seems like a pretty tolerant guy all around to me; and that whole godly love was 2 heterosexual guys goofing around; I dont’ think Michael ever was intolerant, IMO.
That one Adam fan did say that she thought Danny’s song was good, but that Michael’s was better.
I think Michael’s song is good, but sounds like a lot of country songs out there; in fact I just heard one shopping today after I listened to Michaels again and it sounded just like his. Prob. why its “more country”. Danny’s is a little more crossover country I think. But that is what his fans would prefer, I’m sure.

Pam, lol. Although it’s annoying, as now some of those glamberts seem to want to prop up Michael as the “good country singer” vs. Danny, in the same way Kradam adherents touted Kris as the “good Christian” over Danny.
Although there’s no way to know, I suspect Michael and Danny probably have very similar views. I took what Michael has said about his evolving outlook was getting a better understanding and appreciation for all kinds of people, but not that he was changing his basic beliefs as a result. Probably similar to what Danny wrote in his blog that one time.

Michael’s songs are catchy. I just bought them from iTunes (gotta support our idols). What he put and what Danny is putting out are totally on the opposite ends of the spectrum. If I had to categorize Michael’s song I would say Brad Paisley esque.
I’m curious about “Crazy Not To.” I really like Orleans’ Dance With Me (which is from the mid-1970s) and find it interesting that they’re comparing it to that song.

Their finale is interesting. Instead of two people, it’s three, apparently. Danyl just missed the finale–the same as Danny. There’s so many parallels between these two men. Both are vocally powerful, soulful, and emotional singers, both worked with kids before Idol, and both were voted off just before the finale. But because of the AI finale format of having just two people, Danny did one better than Danyl, who came in 4th place. So Danyl joins the ranks of such people as Allison, Kris Daughtry, and Josh Gracin, and that ain’t too shabby.

This is just a personal opinion. Ive lived in NC now for 11 years so Country is really popular here. I also live in a college town. Having said that I think there are 4 basic types of non-hispanic music out there. Urban (with or without an R&B feel)and it also includes rap, then there is Rock and that goes from Heavy Metal to Classic, Country (classic country with a twang, boots knocking country, and mellow country, and finally pop – real catch all.
The thing is over the last few years you have people like Sheryl Crow (Rock/Pop) who have influenced Country, you have Keith Urban who brought in a Rock influence, Jimmy Buffet who brought Margaritaville into the mix and finally Kid Rock.
So where does that leave us now. Wherever you feel most comfortable. The lines between Country and everything else have really blurred. Is Lady A “country,” well about as much as Kid Rock is?
I think Danny really nailed it when he said Country music has a message. It has a story. Compare that to Lady Gaga and Shakira.
But Michael’s other song ‘Cinderella Girl’ sounds like the hard rock/southern country that I’ve heard before. I agree that both Michael and Danny are very different in their musical styling, especially in country music, so there really isn’t any need for the ‘glamberts’ or whomever to match them up against each other.
I really wasn’t cool w/them getting on Michael about the whole ‘godly love the right way’ thing either. Michael seems like a very open-minded, tolerant guy that just wants to get along w/everyone and knows that not everyone’s not gonna like what he does just like their not gonna like whatever Danny does. Yeah, the ‘glamberts’ do wanna make it look like Adam changed Michael’s ‘views’ about homosexuality and such when that really wasn’t the case at all.

I think that Michael is a nice guy and I wish him well. However, I don’t care for some of the people who claim to support him putting down Danny. There are people that genuinely like Michael and his music.
But some people claiming to like Michael’s music are just/mostly saying that to put Danny down. Especially the Adam fans who now like Michael because they believe he’s more tolerant than Danny is, and they think that he was nicer to Adam than Danny was.
It’s one thing for people to say they like Michael’s music, because they like him and think the music sounds good. It’s a whole other thing, to say they like Michael’s music and bash Danny in the process.
And claim how Michael is way more Country than Danny is, really based on the fact that he’s from the South and Danny isn’t.
I don’t like it when people praise Michael just or mostly so they can insult Danny. So like I didn’t like it when Kris and Kradam fans were saying that Kris was a “better” Christian than Danny was.

Right now Danny’s song is #83 on the Country Chart. He has had 8 spins so far today and 29 spins so far this week. Most of the spins he got today were from radio stations that have added his song already.
These stations are now playing his song regulary. The station in Madison, Wisconsin that added his song yesterday has played him multiple times today. Hopefully more radio stations will add him and play his song regulary.
Conchcast- Idk…just wondered about that sometimes. I can totally tell the difference in certain genres of music about what sounds like what and what doesn’t. I’m not a huge fan of country, so I guess I have a confusion on what sounds ‘country’ and what doesn’t. And just to make it clear, I like some country and find myself listening to it more than I normally have so that says a lot for me. Anyway, it just crossed my mind on whether a country song is supposed sound country. To me, I don’t neccessarily think so.
I think the more ‘mainstream country’ artists that are out there now are more contemporary/pop than most. Just a random thought I’d thought I’d share. Thanks for your opinion, conchcast

Michael is a nice guy. And I am glad he is working in music. But he is not in the same league as Danny. Michael finished 10th on AI, and is signed to a small, indie label.
I doubt he will get anywhere near the promotion Danny has gotten and will continue to get. Danny has the RCA Nashville machine behind him. He also has the talents of Mark Bright.
Trust me, there are a lot more people out there who like Danny. He will always have his critics – but so does anyone who is sucessful and who is in the public eye.

Just listened to Michael’s songs. May be just the bad sound quality on my laptop, but his voice feels too high and thin to me for a country singer, though he’s got his twang thing going. And the iTunes preview has the kerosene line. Ack.
The other Cinderella Girl song just has a short clip. I hear nothing country about that one at all though.
He seems like a really nice guy, but I don’t see myself buying these unless I do it just to give him some support. He seems like he’s trying to make the most of his opportunities for his family and to put himself out there with his music, so good for him on that.
I’m not sure where he’ll go next after the single is available. It may be a challenge to give it continued promotion, and to break in at all to country radio play.

Brian just posted this, apparently Connie’s video did capture a new song for the album. Which I find very interesting, given how R&B that was in the live version.
Mystery solved: He mentioned the song in passing today, calling it “Be Somebody.” It has been cut for the album, but I didn’t hear the studio version and don’t know the writers.

I hope they go with “Tiny Life” as Danny’s second single or possibly “Crazy Not to” since Brian describes that song as “romantic and catchy.” I think “Tiny Life” would be a good 2nd single and help Danny sell more CD’s.
I could see that song being a bigger hit than “My Best Days” is. Brian Mansfield said on Idol Chatter that he thinks the label might go with “It’s Only” as the second single, but I think they would be better off going with “Tiny Life” or maybe something like “Crazy Not To”.
Also he said that the name of the mystery song that Danny was singing in Raleigh is called “Be Somebody” and that the song was cut for Danny’s album. But Brian doesn’t know the name of the songwriters for that song, and he hasn’t heard the studio version for that song either.
Steph–I noticed that writer didn’t have Carrie Underwood on the list either. Maybe he/she just doesn’t like country music. I’m not worried.
I want Danny’s website now! I love it here and of course that will not replace this one for me, but I’m looking forward to all of Danny’s fans from the various small sites, Youtube, etc. all coming together. It will be like a big party.

Yes, GG–I sure did! I love his voice. He has that raspy, emotional quality to his singing that pierces your soul and can make you cry, just like our sweet Danny’s. Lie really needs to be a single. I’m mad at RCA for not releasing another single from DCTR–even though they are treating Danny well. I mentioned this earlier, but Lie could even work well on country radio and could get crossover airplay. It sounds more country than some songs by “country” artists, like Taylor Swift.

DC is very silent in charts or TV shows, I don’t know if what is DC’s new video or release either… RCA needs to do something about this one… Actually, Archie and him deals with the same problem. I think Season 8 (Danny’s season) really overshadowed DC’s season… Oh well, maybe thats just the way it is. I really hope RCA will be active in promoting their previous recording artists…
I think that we might have to wait at least a little while for Danny’s website to be up and running. If we Dannyfans waited for months just to know if Danny is signed, and waited for weeks for the singles releases and other stuff, for sure we can wait for days just to see his official website ok? its worth the wait at the end cuz its something good and YAY! about Danny ok?
GG, it’s as if both DA and DC have been forgotten. You can blame AL for that. He’s TPTB’s rocker darling now, even though he’s not selling very well. They put all their eggs in one financial basket and are digging themselves into a huge hole. I think it will be Danny who digs them out of that hole. The other problem is that I think TPTB see David C as Daughtry 2.0. They seem to only have room for one rocker on their roster of signees, and Daughtry is their moneymaker.
Past idols do tend to be forgotten once a new season starts anyway. DC was getting plenty of media attention until shortly after his album was released–and now, there’s hardly anything. They have really thrown him under the bus. I think if his second album fails to sell he will be dropped. I hope he finds another label.
But I’m over the moon about Danny. I think he won’t be forgotten because of the fact he’s the only male they have signed who is country. He’s not competing with anyone else.

It’s true that us Danny fans are always waiting for things regarding Danny. From having to wait a long time to hear if Danny was signed, to having the release date of his single pushed back and now it looks like the release date of his website might be pushed back as well.
The other idols have tons of information released about them, while Danny’s label was being hush-hush for a while about stuff regarding Danny.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer for Danny’s website. And hopefully his single will be released in a couple of weeks and they won’t push it back again. Also I’m hoping that we will get to see a lot more promotion for Danny as it draws closer to the release of his album.

Katy – Brian Mansfield is a highly regarded music columnist for USA Today. He is also a huge Country music insider. It was Brian Mansfield that Joe Galante, the CEO of Sony Nashville, had do the official release of Danny’s record deal. More importantly, press Brian Mansfield has been a big supporter of Danny’s. He has followed Danny’s music journey from AI and was there throughout his signing this summer – and as it turned out, everything that Brian had speculated about Danny’s contract turned out to be true.
He did 3 articles on Danny during the summer. And in each, he was always encouraging of Danny going into Country music.

DC is not a second version of Daughtry ok?? never… DC has a league of his own, as much as I love Daughtry songs, DC still haunts me every single song that he sang… promise! I hope that will not be the trend, that if there is a new season of AI, the previous season will be “whatever” news the next day… I think DC is busy on small town shows right? At least DC is doing something than waiting for a promotion from his label. Even Archie doesn’t have a new video or something.
I like Brian Mansfield because he is pretty respectful in general to all of the idol contestants, including Danny. He’s one of the very few Idol bloggers on the internet who has actually talked about Danny in a respectful manner. He also is a professional, well-respected columnist and his connections to Nashville are very useful to Danny fans. Because he often finds out scoops about Danny before other people do.
GG, ITA…DC is MUCH better than Daughtry, but apparently TPTB don’t see things that way…
Sorry…didn’t mean to turn this into a DC fansite. You know me…torn between two lovers, haha! I actually love Danny more though, because he had to go through so much more than David did to get to where he is now…he has overcome obstacles that would have driven any average person insane. Not that DC didn’t have obstacles (like being thrown under the bus by Simon early in season 7), but he had 12 years of experience as a musician, while Danny had no experience at all except singing in church, and always had many more haters than DC ever did. So that made me feel more of a connection with him.
Helio
You bring up some interesting points about some of the idols. I think that DC has been doing decently, in spite of the fact that he hasn’t been getting a lot of promotion, or I believe hardly any radio airplay lately.
He is very fortunate to have a fanbase large enough to help keep him afloat and help him maintain a decent career for himself. With the help of his fanbase he might still be able to have decent sales with his second CD.
Also it does look like RCA is putting a lot of money into launching Adam’s career. From shooting what looked to possibly be an expensive video for FYE, to now deciding to shoot another video for WWFM, since they are now pushing that as his single.
So far Adam has sold almost 250,000 CD’s which is pretty decent, and he’s gaining more airplay for his single WWFM, so hopefully his label will be able to profit some off of him.
Kris isn’t selling a lot of albums, for an Idol winner, but he is doing decently with radio airplay.
Allison isn’t doing well with radio airplay or album sales.
And it’s too soon to really say much about how Danny’s doing, but his radio airplay isn’t bad considering his single hasn’t officially gone for adds yet, and isn’t available for purchase. And considering he’s competiting with a lot of Christmas songs on the radio.
It will be interesting to see how the idols from this season as well as other seasons do and continue to do.
Helio – Danny was always a favorite of TPTB. In fact, that’s the thing the haters have always despised – that Danny was over praised and that Kris (and Allison to some degree) were ignored. Danny also has a larger than life, outgoing personality that will help keep his name out there with the media. Put Danny out with the media, and he will talk. Definitely not a shrinking violet.
In as far as David Cook, I never got the impression that TPTB didn’t like or supported him – the way they obvious don’t like Kris. And he has done a pretty decent job with sales. I think there are others with 19E that are way more vulnerable to be dropped.

FOGS – but don’t you think if Kris ends up with have the lowest selling album of all the AI winners, it will probably not put in a very good light with 19E/Jive.
They could not have been very thrilled to hear industry big wigs like Billboard calling the sales of Kris’ debut album “disappointing”, “weak”, “poor”.
That and the fact that they never really wanted him to win – makes it easier to them part ways.
Since Kris won AI, he was guaranteed a record deal. It’s not like they seek him out.
I think that David Cook will be okay at least for a while longer. I believe that he will release one more album with RCA that will do decently. I think that he will be with RCA for a while longer. I think that he might be working on material for his second album now.
I meant to say in my last post that I think that David Cook will release “at least” one more album with RCA. He might release more than one more album with them depending on how well his second album with them does.
I’m about to give up on seeing Danny’s website today. Even on the west coast it’s now around 6:30, if the webmaster even lives on the west coast. I’m really bummed. Was so looking forward to seeing this today!

FOGS, DJG Music – Kris really lived up to the saying “biggest upset in AI history”… Part of it, its because DJG fans did it but who cares? its the whole AI production’s fault. The real essence of AI competition is lost cuz its not all about singing anymore, its something you should have more than singing… That is why Kris is suffering from all of this (even though he denies it or others did) The competition is to find another superstar, not a good song arranger or an instrument player… Its all their fault for setting the standards… They have to think back from the other seasons, why is Kelly and Carrie is still superstars as of today? cuz of their voices!

I think that it will be interesting to see how things work out between Kris and 19/Jive. His album sales aren’t very good and he does have the lowest sales for an Idol winner, but he’s doing decently on radio and his song is holding steady on Itunes right now in I believe the early 30′s. Radio airplay is helping him out. His label might stick with him a while longer if he continues to do decently on radio.

Gokeyguy – I honestly think that for someone like Kris, winning American Idol will turned out to be more of a burden than help. I don’t ever see him in the same league as Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. Both of them have “star quality”, which I do not see in Kris. He’s a nice guy, knows a lot about music, but there isn’t anything that special or unique about him and his voice. He would have been way better off coming in 3rd or 4th. I can understand people being frustrated and disappointed about Danny’s site not going up today. Danny fans do often have to wait a long time for stuff to happen for him.
I hope that his site does go up before January and before the new season of Idol starts. And I hope that the release date of his single isn’t pushed back any further.
It’s important that his website and single are out before January, when the new season of Idol starts. A lot of people do tend to move on and forget about past/last season’s Idols once the new season of Idol starts. So it’s important that Danny and his label get these things out before the new season starts.

I was away for a while, but wanted to comment on DC. After he was forced to cancel his last concert of the Declaration tour (one week ago tonight – oh – I had tickets…)he tweeted that he was going to NYC to continue writing and laying tracks for his next CD.
I have almost every song he ever recorded on my ipod and I always thought that DC DC was rushed. The only songs that TPTB released were the only two not written by him. I think that the next CD will be more honest of his writing talents. He knows what he can sing. Just remember Permanent, Lie and A Daily AntheM were all written by him.
No comparison between DC and Danny – two very different musical styles, yet both are very passionate people with very strong families who have been personally toughed and shaped by the death of a loved one.

DJG, I know TPTB liked David. They definitely wanted him to win, and he did. Simon didn’t like him at first, but was backing him 100% by the end. I just think that their devotion to AL (and Daughtry) has eclipsed their high regard of DC. Hopefully he will have more say in which songs are released from his next album. It wasn’t lost on me that the 2 singles released from DCTR (3 if you count TOML) were not written by him. I always wondered why they did that.

I think that is why RCA is taking the marketing style they have been with DAnny; they are in it for the long haul and not rushing to just capitalize on his present fans and AI popularity. They must think he has enough promise to win new fans. Just my opinion.
I have only watched AI since season 5, but have never been involved in an obsessive manner like Ihave been with Danny.
I will prob. watch S9, but not happy about Ellen subbing for Paula, and it sounds like they will really pimp the female singers (and I prefer guys!) so I”m pretty sure nothing will divert me from following Danny’s career.

I do like the grassroots promo they are doing for Danny right now with things like the radio tour. I think that the radio tour is a good idea and it’s been helping Danny out.
But I do hope that he gets some national promotion as it draws nearer to the release of his album. Also I hope that his label don’t keep pushing stuff back regarding him. I think if they set deadlines for stuff they need and try to keep them.
I do think that Danny can reach beyond his AI fanbase, but I think it’s good if they do try and capitalize on his stint on AI and his existing fanbase as well, to an extent.
His fanbase/the AI audience can give him a much needed boost the first week his single and album comes out. Sometimes it can be hard to reach beyond the AI bubble, and if an Idol can’t get a decent amount of help from his fanbase that’s not good.
For example Kris’s fanbase hasn’t really helped him out a lot and his album sales have been low. If he had more fans supporting him, that would give him more buzz and possibly bring new fans to him.
I think that Danny’s label should try and capitalize some on his stint on AI, by putting out things regarding him before the new season starts. In addition to try and getting him new fans.
Also I am not happy about Ellen taking Paula’s place either for next season. I don’t think that Ellen is going to really bring anything to Idol. I saw her when she was a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance, and I didn’t find her very interesting or useful as a judge.
I would rather Paula had stayed or at least it being just a three judge panel (with Simon, Randy and Kara, even though I don’t really care for Kara) after Paula left.

As a person that battles acne, I resent all this conversation about Adam’s skin and how gross it is upclose. Yes, Danny’s skin is flawless and he’s gorgeous. Adam has skin problems and is very self-conscious about it but I do think he’s quite handsome as well. There’s no need to compare them like this.

Owlki, you are right of course. I think DJG just “snapped” a little after being tightly controlled so long putting up with the troll among our midst. We were polite until the snark showed up from the tennis ball; but I do see what you are saying.

Adam is very self-conscious and has said that he always suffered because he thinks he’s fat and has bad skin. That’s one of the reasons he wears so much make-up, to try and cover it. It is cruel to pick on someone because of their appearance, sexual preference, religion, whatever. If we are offended when we read bad things being said about Danny on other sites – and, HELL YEAH, we are! -, why do we do the same thing here with other idols?
You are right, Erika. Actually, the only thing I ever noticed about Adam’s skin is that his pores are somewhat large — but then, so were Elvis’ pores. And that is actually a pretty common phenomenon for those who work in theater. I wasn’t aware that Adam has (or had) an acne problem, but it hardly seems relevant. It’s not something one can control. A friend of mine had bad acne as a teenager and her face was scarred. She had dermabrasion and her skin is better than it was, but it will never be perfect. Still, she’s happy in her own skin (so to speak), and is no longer self-conscious. It makes a big difference, because I don’t think anyone notices the scars anymore.
Owlki, you’re absolutely right. I apologize for responding to another comment made about Adam’s skin, in a negative way. And btw, I agree with you that Adam is a very handsome man! His eyes in particular are mesmerizing! He is also very talented and I am a fan of his. Please forgive me.

Fortunately for the most part Danny fans are above bashing the other idols. Every once in a while something might be said that shouldn’t be said about another contestant. But I am glad that for the most part Danny fans are kind fans who don’t go around constantly bashing the other idols.

I guess I wouldn’t have been as upset as I am about the website not going up if (1) management hadn’t promised Amy, and (2) they are dragging their feet, when they were quick enough to get the other idols’ websites launched.
So…..it’s back to playing a waiting game, I guess…

I just finished reading the biography and I’m near to tears. Haters may hate him. The more they hate him, the more I LOVE him. He has the purest heart that I’ve ever seen, he’s seriously a kid on the inside.

NEVER MIND — as usual, I got confused! Danny’s biography is up on the RCA Nashville website. I don’t know anything about Danny’s website. I think I misread an earlier comment. *Sigh* Trust me to get things all garbled! I guess I better sign off before I make another mistake.
