Amy’s Recap – Danny Gokey at Charlotte Bobcats Game

Tonight Danny Gokey had a meet and greet from 6-6:45 on the concourse at the Bobcats arena and then sang the National Anthem before the Bobcats/Celtics game.

My sister Heather went with me and I think we might have been the first there because of course we were early!  They had us sign in at the table so they could email us our picture from the professional photographer and while I was setting my stuff down and saying hi, he said, “Amy!”  <fangirl>OMG, I’m on a first name basis with Danny!</fangirl> We hugged across the table. We all stood behind the table and let the photographer take the pics and then Heather and I took turns with my camera.  While we were shuffling around I asked him about the single…he said the management felt like MBD would do better.  The web site is still coming out this month.  And the fun news….he’s filming MBD video on December 17th and 18th.  There was a line behind us at that point so we stepped to the side.  Heather gave me a hard time about hogging him.  I told that’s what I was there for!  We let several people go until there was a small lull.  We then asked for autographs of our flags they had handed out and also more pictures.  He said of course for all the work you do!  At that point, I asked him about all his appearances.  He said it’s hard to tweet everything.  He’s doing 3 and 4 things a day.  I suggested putting things on his myspace.  His management team was there (he only named Keith but I think there were 2 or 3 people) and he told them and they came back and said “It’s taken care of.”  So I’m not sure if that means they’ll put it there, let me know or they’re waiting on his new site.  Also we talked about his upcoming Coyote Joe’s visit and I told him I’d be there for that.  I asked him about getting his new photo shoot pics for use on the site and he took down my number/email to see if he could get it *squee*.  We stepped to the side again and I just waited around and took pictures.  When they were taking him away, he was just hanging out for a second and I went over and gave him a big hug and told him good luck on singing.  <3

The arena was not full at all when he sang Frown The good news is I was able to scoot up to a great seat to get better video.  You’ll see in the video how AMAZING he did with it.  My sister is (unfortunately) not as big of a fan as I am and she is also a straight-shooter and she was really impressed as well.

So without further adieu, here it is:

Once the game started, he sat court-side at the end with one of the guys he was with. I did want to note at half-time a TV reporter came over and talked to him (off-camera). I’m not sure if that means he’ll show up on our local news or what. He left with the one guy he was with during half-time. Heather and I decided to leave then because really all we were getting at that point were pictures of the back of his head since we were sitting in the same section as him basically and he wasn’t slated to sing/meet&greet anymore. I really hope I didn’t miss anything. Anyway, so glad I went. I’ll update this post with the pictures as soon as they upload.

Love this picture.  Right center-stage with a crowd…where he should be.

I just have to explain this picture.

On the screen, they were doing the Kiss Cam.  They’d put the camera on two people and they’d kiss. Well, they put the camera on this one couple and he pulled out a ring box and proposed!  The whole place went wild!  OK, this is going to be hard to see, but Danny was getting ready to go back to the locker room/backstage and he’s in the bottom right of this picture responding to the proposal.  He’s standing between the gates and has his hand raised in the air.  You can see it behind the guy in the gray shirt sitting down.  I know it’s hard to make out, but that was really cool and great to see Danny’s reaction Smile

So that’s it!  Thanks so much Danny for taking the time with your fans and sharing your AMAZING VOICE!
