    The picture Of Danny looks absolutely Gorgeous!! I can see some of his sweet soft chest hair peeking out from his shirt!! What a man! The Fan’s Video of Danny’s Song “It’s Only” Reins so POWERFUL and TRUE with those images of the homeless!! the images of the homeless is just completely stuck in my mind. The Vivid photograph really put a face to Danny’s voice and makes his message come live; you can feel and sense Danny’s PASSION and URGENCY while watching the video and seeing the images!!!

I’m totally hooked on listening to it and think it’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard. I’m so happy that I’m able to memorise that song before I go away.     TPTB at Sony/RCA are doing a great job by Danny. They are supporting him all the way. This song will make it easy for people to immediately know Danny’s heart. Country fans are very much into knowing their artists. They aren’t content to say ‘oh well, I like the music anyways’, they want to support someone they believe in. Danny is a man everyone can believe in.

    Where are my manners? Good Gokey day to Hannele, Latrece, CGF, and perhaps I missed Helio by now.

    Today’s photo is another stunner. I was thinking about the image of the taxi in the background. I do believe Danny’s days of being able to ride in a taxi are coming to an end. It is limo time now.

    Knowing Danny though, he’ll have someone shuttle him around in a small dark SUV or something. Have to figure he’d be the type to just frown upon too much being done for him, just for show.

    I am convinced Danny is going to win some awards for his song.

    Been thinking back to David Cook’s AI winner song. It was so appropriate for so many events, mainly the Olympics. It opened lots of doors for him, because people wanted him to either sing or use his music for their events. I see the same thing happening
    with ‘It’s Only’.

    I saw Danny’s limo pull up for the Bucks game since I arrived early to help with SHF. Didn’t see him get out though, since I didn’t want to be too fangirly. Kick myself now, since I wish I would have at least done the heart sign for him as I walked by!
    All I did was smile as I walked past it.

So fitting for Danny’s song. Hannele- agree with you about Latrece’s commenting over the last few days. It is awesome.Latrece- I love reading your comments about everything Danny, especially “its only”. I probably sound like a broken record, but that song so touches my heart. It’s exactly the kind of song I imagined Danny would sing. Dee- watched the Andy Griggs video, very touching. Definitely reminds me of Danny.     Maryann I go on the Sony/RCA/Nashville as often as I can to click on our Danny! Thanks for reminding everybody! We gotta show the love as much as possible. Like you, I can’t wait to see his beautiful pic up in the corner when his single and cd come out!

    Dee I will have to listen to Andy Griggs tonight since I am blocked at work, but it sounds like his philosophy about what kind of music he sings would be great advise for Danny. I do think Danny could definately relate to him.

    Karri’s fan video made me cry. The song itself makes my cry everytime I listen to it, but listening to it with the video images has an even greater impact. I think that if Idol were to use Danny’s song for Idol Gives Back, I would be weeping in a puddle of tears.

    Pam I am now not worried at all about Danny going country! He did exactly what he promised he would do – no twang, more crossover country/soul. I knew that Danny would do any song justice because of his amazing voice. He made WHTM and My Wish into beautiful songs(I never liked either of those songs by Rascal Flatts). I was worried that the label would force him to sing with a twang and try to push him toward a more traditional country sound, but it seems as if they understand Danny’s voice and his wish to bring something unique to country music and I think he has done it with this song. I am so looking forward to hearing more of his country/soul! I don’t know if you read my comment about Ron listening to JTTW and requesting that I put It’s Only Love on his MP3. He loves both songs and he never ever liked country. I think the message Danny has in both songs are messages Ron can relate to because they touch his heart, just like they touch mine.

    Goodmorning ladies!! I thought I would pop in to see what was happening and to hear the latest news. I wonder who Danny’s date will be for the CMA?? I would be so happy to see him on a lovely date with a charming female for this special occassion!!     Hallo everyone, not sure who is here-I`m on here early as I`ve had one of my worst days for a long time-But, I just had to say that I watched the awesome video by Karri,and it moved me SO much I had to stop watching it,get myself together and start again! Homelessness is something very close to my heart-for personal reasons-and, when I was in London, I volunteered to help, there is such a huge problem there-I spent Christmas helping,before I was married-to me, that`s what it`s all about-Of course, now I have my daughter and grandson-so it is different-I tweeted Karri,I hope she is well enough to read it-what an incredible person she is-Pam-I have to say that the dog got me!!I love animals SO much and I know that there are many homeless people who have their dogs with them-I`m sitting here withmy little dog now and I feel VERY blessed-See you all later

    Yeah, Cheryl! Glad you feel better. I definitely do after that beautiful debut. I was confident that Danny would not disappoint; but you just never know. Its funny how the haters keep saying he took what he could get (country contract) and is just doing what they tell him, but its SO obviously the opposite based on his single. He’s stayed true to his vocal style and beliefs. I so hope country audiences love it. Haters are calling lyrics cheesy, but their cynical hearts don’t appreciate the beautiful simplicity. I asked one Adam hater if they preferred Sleazy to Cheesy and you’d be surprised how many popped up with yes! Sad commentary.
    That’s great about Ron actually wanting the songs on his IPOD!
    My favorite line is:

    Good morning everyone! I just went to Danny’s page on Sony/RCA. I go there everyday just to keep the traffic running there. They have updated his info with his radio release of It’s Only and have posted a couple of new pics. It’s only a matter of time before his page will be full of info.

    Just to let you know, I haven’t posted here in the past few days because I was busy going on different sites (as DJG Music suggested)to post comments. I posted under different names and even enlisted my husband and sister to post as well. I want to do everything I can do to promote our boy.

    Pam I wrote a comment on some site that had a negative review of Danny’s song and pointed out how cynical the guy sounded. He didn’t use the word cheesy, but he might just as well have. I commented that clearly the guy doesn’t believe music has the ability to comfort, inspire, move someone or to make one think. I can’t believe these people criticizing the song are so cynical they have no empathy toward the unemployed, the homeless, the poor, toward children, or toward those seeking answers in their everyday lives. I wish they could learn the simple lessen that anyone can be in a situation in which they feel hopeless and the one thing they can hope for is that there is someone else who shows them love and concern. Danny’s song not only moves, inspires, teaches, and makes one think, it is sung by someone who really believes that we as individuals can make a difference. So they can call Danny or the song cheesy, but they can’t deny that Danny backs up his beliefs with action and that this song defines who he is as a big hearted, caring person.

    I saw that RCA has made a few changes to Danny’s page, when I went to that site. They have changed the picture of him on that page, to a close up of the picture of him on the couch. They have that picture and the new picture of him on the couch that we first saw at the gospel site.

    I hope that we see more press photos of Danny soon. RCA also mentioned Danny’s song premiering on November 6. I am glad that RCA is starting to put more about him on their site.

    Nina, thanks for the alert about the update on Danny’s site! I’d checked several times this morning and found nothing….so happy they are adding new goodies!

    Now all they need to do is get rid of the old AI8 pic of Danny that still heads the page and put one of the new pics on there instead!

    We’ve seen the chair pic and his myspace pic, so we have one more new pic to add to our collection, the close-up on his photos page :) They don’t enlarge too well with very good quality for printing, so they are making sure no one prints out a good copy of a copyrighted photo.

    I’ve been mostly lurking and then going back to lying down because it looks like it’s my turn to get what’s going around….but I will check in from time to time!

    Brats are our disgusting habit for tailgating and BBQing.
    Milwaukee is actually blessed with many, many excellent ethnic, upscale and vegetarian, etc (and a lot of small business restaurants, we haven’t turned into Atlanta yet with all the big chain names, but do have one of Danny’s faves, Cheesecake Factory!)-for a city of our size. Probably part of the reason why Danny is so into his food!

    I think so Dee I’m a fan of a lot of different genre’s of music. For me it’s just what the songs message is and how it makes me feel. If Danny did another type of music , I would love it too, because his message would be there , too. But I think he really fits great in country . A more modern country like what he’s doing.

    Pam-about the hater who’s a ‘Glambert’ or whatever who says that the lyrics to “It’s Only” are cheesy. Well, look where it’s coming from…lol…I think some of Adam fans are just used to out of the ordinary things when it comes from him, but if it’s from anyone else, such as Danny, it’s considered cheesy. Honestly, they wouldn’t be able to tell what’s a really great song unless it fell down from the sky and punched them in their face *pow* :-) lol So ‘opinions’ from a ‘Glambert’ who thinks they know everything is pretty much, “blah, blah, blah” lol :-) At least that what I hear whenever I hear a stuck-on-stupid hater, whether they’re an Adam fan or not, opening their mouth. *stop being mean, Danielle* lol :-)

    And the same goes w/’Danny took the first contract that he could get’ stupidity. First off, why rush into signing w/record label so fast? Of course, that may have been the case w/Kris, Adam, and Allison, but Danny was taking his time and decided what deal would be good for him and that, obviously, country is the best genre for him to go into. The ‘haters’ who keep spewing that just base it on how arrogant, and cocky, and whatever else kind of judgement they made about him during the show and afterwards. That so-called theory been played out so much. Spin another record, please…lol :-)

    As far as I’m concerned, RCA/Sony is the best label for him. They’ve been doing a great job w/him so far and they knew that Danny would be a great artist for their label and for the country music industry. Plus, Danny knows what he’s doing so I don’t see any problem w/anything. He’s gonna be just fine :-)

    I saw on Twitter that someone from a news station in Florida is in Nashville to cover the CMA’s award. They mentioned meeting some country artists and said that Danny was the “Sweetest thing ever”. :)

    I think that the person got to talk with Danny at some event where a lot of country artists, who were performing/presenting/going to the CMA’s were at. She mentioned meeting different country artists and what they were like. I am glad that she liked Danny.

    I am happy that people that meet Danny mention how nice and sweet he is. He really is a sweet guy and I am glad that people get a chance to meet him and see that. :)

    I looked at the person’s website and she has a video up of some of the people that she talked to today, but Danny wasn’t in the video. But I think that she might put up more videos of her interviews with country artists up later, so I will check back and see if she put up a video that features Danny.

    Country artist Jimmy Wayne has pictures of himself and some of the radio people that interviewed him today posted on his Twitter.

    Nobody should be upset about Danny not being involved in the Ryan Secreast concert thing. As Brian Mansfield told me the other day on his blog, TPTB for Danny are totally separate from TPTB for Kris, Adam and Allison. They are pop, Danny is country. I am happy because Danny is not going to be compared to the other three as much as they will be compared to each other.

    I agree that TPTB would not include Danny in the pop concert because he is a differenct genre. However, by the time Danny’s cd comes out, the TPTB should be concentrating on Danny and a concert for him. 19 is in charge of promotion for all of them and they are all signed with labels under the Sony name, so I would think if they have a concert for their pop idols they should have one for their country artist when his cd is realeased.

    I have a feeling this whole concert is about Adam. Kris and Allison are just afterthoughts. TPTB know that if they plan a concert with Ryan Seacrest for just Adam, there would be problems because Kris is the winner of Idol. The winner of Idol is promised all kinds of promotion, etc. and they can’t neglect the winner completely. So, their way around it is by having a concert featuring their cash cow, Adam, and including Kris and Allison as a way of meeting their obligations to the winner and also as a way to boost sales for Kris and Allison.

    I don’t believe that 19 is in charge of promotion for Danny because he is not signed to them for management. He is only signed to 19 Recordings along with RCA/Nashville and I believe RCA Nashville will do all of the promotion for Danny along with his new management team. Kris, Adam and Allison are assigned to 19 Management.

    Re the concert Ryan is announcing, to me that could be taken as a sign of weakness that they have to get the Kris, Adam and Allison together on the same concert docket vs. their being able to go out on their own or with other acts in their respective niches. Especially Kris as the winner, whose music is probably the least similar between the three.

    It doesn’t bother me that Danny’s not included in that, as his music is different and his timeline is different. It will definitely bug me though if Ryan doesn’t interview Danny or otherwise feature him on his radio station when Danny goes to LA next week.

    Going off subject for just a second, has anyone heard Lady Gaga’s new song ‘Bad Romance’? Are there any Gaga fans on here? Well, I just went on her myspace and listened to it for the first time and it’s kind of too much for me at the moment.
    It may catch on if go back out to the bar or whatever but it’s just okay for me. Love me some Gaga, but I think that I’ll stick to her current stuff that’s still out there. Just thought I’d mention that.

    I don’t think that there’s any comparison between her and Adam as of yet. I can’t really tell b/c I haven’t heard his entire album yet. They played ’snippets’ of it on the radio last week and from what I heard it’s not too bad. Hopefully, I can afford to purchase it when it comes out, that goes for Kris’ album, too. If not, then it’ll be x-mas presents for myself then :-)

    I also saw on one of the other sites where someone posted how happy they were that Adam, Kris and Allison are included in the Seacrest event without Danny, and how happy they were that Danny seems to have been lost and completely forgotten.     And according to a tweet from Danny on Monday, the song will be available for download from dannygokey.com on Dec. 8 and from iTunes on Dec. 15.

    Danny and his handlers have picked a ballad for his first country music release.

    That’s great that the writer near you liked Danny’s song. I don’t remember the publication, but I think the person who wrote a very positive review of Danny on the AI Tour and then had an insightful long interview with him was also somewhere in PA.
    When I attended the AI concert in Reading PA, where they **totally** loved Danny, it definitely struck me as a market that was probably very big on country music.

    Thanks Steph for the link to CMT. If you only have time to post comments at a few places I would definately post at CMT. As DJG mentioned the other day, posting on country music sites is more important than Idolblogs, etc. (although if you are like me and some others here you can comment on all of them) When I comment on country sites I TRY not to sound like an Idol fangirl.

    On the country sites, I usually try to include a comment that I love country music and watch cmt, which is true.
    Want to indicate that Danny’s fans aren’t all AI carpetbaggers crashing the country scene.
    Some of us have liked country music for years, and like Danny, and are liking Danny doing country.

    The people who write negative reviews on Danny in Idol-land normally have an agenda, which is to ruin Danny’s chance at a successful career. I would suspect some reviewers don’t even listen to the single and if they do, they don’t listen with an open mind because of their bias.

Movieline.com posted about the song, but it was a pretty negative article. I hope that there will be more people that will comment positively about the song.

    The CMT article mentions Tom Douglas in the credits for writing Danny’s song along with the guys from Lady Antebellum. First time I heart his name mentioned with Danny.

    FOGS, we are going to have to get out there and post some positive comments. This is to be expected. Idols have always had a hard time being accepted because many feel they have not worked hard to get where they are – that they went on a TV show and were propelled to stardom. There has always been resentment in the music industry against those from American idol. Danny is going to have to work hard to prove himself to the country music world. Carrie Underwood had to prove herself and she won American Idol. The only thing Danny fans can do is try to spread the word and counter the negative comments with positive ones.

    I think it’s probably more important to see what the heartland type outfits say about Danny’s song and whether the radio stations, CMT, etc. like it than an outfit like movieline.com.

    It just ticked me off that he was so nasty, and not even making sense. Danny didn’t even write the song yet somehow Danny was narcissistic and plagiarizing lyrics by Sinead O’Conor or Prince?

    Well, just read that article from movieline and, yeah, he pretty much can’t stand Danny and his being open about his faith, it seems like. Not gonna get into all the talk about religion and such, but that was really a very biased article.

    I think that I caught it “demoans or bemoans homelessness” or something and that the opening of the song is a rip-off from Sinead O’Connor. First of all, the Sinead O’Connor song that he was talk talking about was “Nothing Compares to you” and I do believe that the opening of that song is, “It’s been seven hours and fifteen days. Since you took your love away.”
    So, this Vitrel person doesn’t know what the heck he’s talking about. I would post this on there but reading that stupid article was enough.

    Helio, I’ve probably lost track of some of the reviews but will try to get to idf later or tomorrow — if I haven’t been banned, that is, for what I posted on the GD thread about Danny’s single.
    May have gone over the line there though I tried to at least link it back to the song lyrics.

    In the comment I submitted to movieline, I said it was ridiculous for them even to mention Sinead O’Conor. If they do mean the song Danielle mentioned, that song has to go back close to 20 years ago. Why would Danny or the Lady A guys even know it, and it’s not a religious song where this guy’s own attack argument is that Danny is all about preachin’ at people. The Tracy Chapman comparison at least made a little sense, but I had no idea people were hatin’ on her too for socially conscious songs.

    I suspect that guy is a glambert or from a similar background. If AL were to sing something with socially conscious lyrics, undoubtedly that would be the most clever and bravest thing ever.

    There is definitely something seriously wrong with a lot of Danny haters. Especially the ones on Twitter. I don’t like how the ones at mjs and TWOP act, but not all of them have harrassed Danny on Twitter, like a lot of the Twitter haters have.

    A lot of the stuff haters say about Danny is ridiculous, delusional and sometimes creepy. They definitely will keep up with the hate, but hopefully Danny will be successful in spite of the hate they spew.

    Saw that, didn’t get the right wing propaganda thing either. Speaking as among the more politically conservative, don’t get it at all.

    I have seen some objecting to the phrase about needing a “hand up not a handout” which leads to the later reference about brother needing a job — to me that’s just practical. And though I’m no religious scholar, isn’t that pretty consistent with some religious teaching also (Paul, for ex.), that if someone can work, they should. The little anecdote about the homeless woman doesn’t say to get a job, it says to help her get shelter. They’ve got both bases covered in that song.

    I think some of this is just mindless reaction from people who are disposed in general to mistrust anything that strikes them as traditional or religious values.

    I remember Tracey Chapman’s big hit “Fast Car,” and I always loved that song. I can see why this song might be compared to that one, since that was also a song about poor people trying to make their lives work, and she sang it in an soulful way. But no, I don’t see the Sinead O’Connor comparison at all. I like Sinead’s music, but comparing Danny to her is like comparing Lionel Richie and Nirvana. Well, almost. I don’t even think the article is very well written. Definitely someone who is clueless about Danny’s music.

    Danielle, believe it or not, Sinead is a Catholic priest–in some obscure branch of the Catholic church that allows women to be priests. I saw something on Behind the Music about it. Funny, because it was her who ripped up the picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live some years ago, and aroused the ire of the Catholic Church, and now she’s part of their clergy.

    Helio, don’t think there is any branch of the actual Catholic church that allows women priests. (married male priests sometimes under certain circumstances, yes) Maybe she’s in some other role, or it’s some outside sect that wants to tie itself to Catholicism. Interesting, either way.     Latrece and Maryann, I think that us Danny fans are definitely not surprised by the hate. We know how the haters are, and the low blows they have and are still dealing to Danny. But I agree with Maryann, that their words are useless. They can’t stop Danny from being sucessful and if he should become pretty successful, there really isn’t anything that they can do about it.

    I have to admit, I kind of cringed when we first got word that Danny’s new song would have a message in it, similar to JTTW. In a way I was kinda hoping his first new single would be something that didn’t include a message or any word of God or Jesus ONLY because I knew the haters would be on that like white on rice. A romantic ballad or upbeat song might have been a “safer” choice for him since it’s his first single and should perhaps be innocuous enough not to get people’s knickers in knots, and to maybe just not go there right away, first off. Didn’t any one of you think that this just might not be such a good idea, knowing that it would just give the haters something to chew on???

    Shirl, sometimes it’s to Danny’s face, but more often than not these aren’t tweets being sent to him.
    Often it looks like some of the more vicious glamberts tweeting each other, or the ontd-ai crowd joking around in a twisted way at Danny’s expense.
    I pick them up because they show up on the RSS search if they mention Danny’s last name. Which they often do, as the other finalists of course to this crowd are Adam, Kris, Allison, whereas Danny seems to be constantly called Gokey. (Michael Sarver seems to be the other who often gets that distinction.)

    OK…back to topic. I refuse to read the negative reviews written by haters. They mean NOTHING. What matters most is how country receives the song, and I think they’ll love it.

    Secondly…HOW in God’s name is a song that encourages people to help the needy and homeless “preachy” and judgmental? If so, then Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” is preachy and judgmental.

    This is the kind of message America needs right now. Anyone who doesn’t get that is really, really messed up.

    I should add that this was just an excuse for some people to jump on him and find fault and I really don’t think this is the Glamberts or Kradam fans or any of those peeps. This is the agnostics and atheists who just cannot abide the words God and/or Jesus in a song, or anything with a message of any type of inspirational message. Now these were the people who were watching AI and who were just sitting and waiting to jump on Danny because they just KNEW this is the road down which he would want to travel with his very first single release. They were all just waiting in the bushes to jump the poor guy like a mugger waits for it’s prey. Sorry to rant but this has been nagging at me for awhile…..as lovely and beautiful and heartfelt a song as Its Only is….maybe TPTB should have had second thoughts about THIS song being his first release.

    A lot of Danny haters did spam Danny’s Twitter with hate, back when they were blaming him for the incident with Adam’s photograph. They were attacking him personally and saying all sorts of hateful things to him on his Twitter.

    It got so bad he had to block a lot of them. Some of them still continued to do that from time to time, even after things calmed down a lot, after that incident.

    The way Danny haters have treated Danny this year, including on Twitter has been awful.

    I don’t want to go into specifics, but I still have a theory that there is a segment of the glamberts and a lot of California media who want to inject attitudes out of the sociopolitical environment onto these young folks from AI, particularly Adam and Danny, & to a lesser extent Michael and Kris (in different ways).
    I think a lot of it arose from the intensity of feelings with the Prop 8 vote and related things that ran in parallel with the AI8 season.
    I don’t think Adam has anything to do with it, nor Danny. To the degree either of them have said anything publicly, they’ve been respectful of each other and telling their nuttier fans to knock it off.

    Danny is incredibly brave, he knew what he was up against and went ahead and recording a song that’s true to what he believes. He’s not coming off as some self-proclaimed Messiah, as the haters seem to be suggesting, he’s coming off as someone with a big heart who wants to help and has the means to, spiritually, financially and emotionally. He sets an example for the rest of us–but he’s not saying he’s the second coming or anything, not even close.

    I think we all knew this would happen, with the haters attacking. You know why, right? They are attacking because they’re jealous. This man has overcome ALL their naysaying and negativity, and proven them wrong at every turn (except that he didn’t win AI, which ultimately was a good thing), and now the haters feel VERY threatened because his single appears to be promising to do the best of any idol’s this season–and it hasn’t even been officially released yet.     I think the haters would be much happier if they just admitted defeat and gave Danny a chance to win them over. Sometimes it’s easier to join than to fight. Some might do just that (especially since some people who didn’t like Danny are admitting they like his single) but others will fight tooth and nail to hold onto their hater status because they’re too proud to let go–even if it means they make themselves look stupid in the process.

    I am glad that Danny took the risk and stayed true to himself with his first single. His label must not have had any objection to him singing a message type song. If Danny’s first song was a run of the mill love song I don’t think it would have gotten the same kind of attention plus the song is perfect for this time of year when people’s hearts are more open to giving. I still think TPTB know what they are doing with Danny. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Danny releases another single in February before his album comes out. I love “It’s Only”. I love it’s message and I think many others will as well. I am sick of hearing the same songs about love and then there are the truck, tractor, beer songs. Danny’s song is very different from what is on country radio and I think if radio stations play it, people will remember it.

    I’m with Cindy and Maryann–Danny knew what he was doing by this song being his first. It will do so much good by igniting interest in helping the jobless and homeless. That’s more important to Danny than be “in” and “cool”.

    While we want Danny to be admired and saved from the hate, he wants to do good things with his music–and do it NOW.

    We will get an opportunity to see all the other sides of Danny’s amazing career.

    Shirl, I braced myself for the hate when I heard the song (i.e. if only he had subbed a couple of words things, it would have been easier…) but then they would have attached other things. I trust it will be worth it. Jan

    Shirl, I think the haters would be all over Danny if he did a romantic song, especially if it were a sad one that evoked anything about Sophia. Maybe even more than with this song. An upbeat song would have given them less to chew on, but I think this song shows Danny’s vocals a lot better than an upbeat single would. And really, I’m just as happy Danny did a song that he feels so passionate about, and that represents where he’s coming from.

    I also think that the writer on that article didn’t even get the point of the song. It’s not written in a way to lecture anyone else on what to do. It’s the singer’s point of view that is going through the different anecdotes and convicting *himself* — not others — of failing to love and help others more than he has been.
    I wrote that in my uber=long reply to that guy if they actually post it, along with several other things that popped into my head. Lol.

    Steph, that’s an interesting point about the media wanting to inject the “culture wars” onto the idols and make them symbolic of the two warring ideologies. That’s an awful big load to dump on these kids who just want to make music.

    I remember reading an outrageous article back in the spring that actually went so far as to say an Adam/Danny finale would be the catalyst for the end of American society as we know it, with Adam representing the “demonic” and Danny representing the “angelic” and that would set off a war of biblical proportions, and whoever the winner was would symbolize which “side” won. I am not joking about this. The loon was perfectly serious, and this was published in a LEGITIMATE newspaper (sorry I can’t remember which one). All this over a couple of young guys who just wanted to sing for a living and maybe do a few good works in the world.

    I think you were right about the branch of “Catholicism” Sinead embraced is not recognized by the Pope or considered to be a legitimate part of the Catholic church, even though she said they call themselves Catholics. I think it was actually a movement by Catholics unhappy with the status quo who started their own church. That may have something to do with why she ripped up the Pope’s photo. Sinead is a very religious woman though, and there’s something about her always reminded me of Joan of Arc. Maybe it was her shaved head, I dunno.

    I have been reading all of the rebuttals from everybody with regards to whether Danny should have chosen another more “safe” song as his first single, rather than It’s Only. I see what y’all are saying and it’s a dayam good argument to be sure.

    Please know that I wasn’t finding fault or dissing Danny or TPTB that his first release wss Its Only, because I absolutely LOVE the song and can’t get enough of it. Makes me so anxious for the album to drop so I can go out and buy the whole thing and have it on loop on my car’s stereo system.

    I have one more little gripe that is so small it’s hardly worth mentioning. But with these 3 new pics of Danny we’ve seen the past few days that are all so goshdarn gorgeous, WHY don’t they put one up on his RCA-Nashville-Sony page and take down that old AI8 pic?!

    Hi everyone, first post of the day;Pam thank you following/finding me on tweeter as you saw I only follow 2 very important people so far;Amy I have to confess lately I too have had this dream about Danny but I am his limo driver (whats up with that!)     just saw that my local country station is a nominee for medium market best country station of the year, will probably call them in the AM to see if Danny was one of their 70 interviews they were going to do. One would think that by this time, the hatred would be waining or over, but each day brings a whole new batch.     Lizzy, Steph6449, MaryAnn – wow, you ladies are keeping me busy with all of these articles and blogs talking about Danny’s new single. What does everyone think? Is Danny getting good press? It seems like it.

    I don’t understand why some of the comments are referring to his song not sounding “country” enough? Why does everyone have to put a label on a song? Why can’t you just enjoy it without putting it in a box with a label on it?

    Steph 6449, Yes I ran into Matt Giraud at the airport waiting for his connection to Nashville. He mentioned he was doing some writing with some people in Nashville, he was going to be attending some award shows, including the CMA’s, and enjoying Music city. He did say he would be seeing Danny, but I imagine Danny is busy with his agent and PR people from the label.

    I did request a twit pic or bubble tweet for us. So far just Matt, no Danny. Have any pictures of Danny surfaced as the SESAC Awards? I am sure if Lady Antebellum was there, Danny was there somewhere.

    Just arrived home from the Sheperd Express Awards; Best of Milwaukee.

    Sadly, my clinic did not win; we were runner up and sadly I did not see Danny there :(

    Happily, though Danny WON Milwaukeean of The Year! He beat out Mayor Tom Barrett (who was in the National News for being beaten badly by interfering in a fight where a boyfriend was beating his girlfriend on the street) and Les Paul, of the famous guitars.

    I haven’t seen any indication Danny was at that award show where Lady A and Matt went. If he is, sure hope we get photos this time. (Matt looked great.) Danny seems to have had a productive day with the radio station interviews though.

    Went over to mj’s to check out that thread she’s posted about Danny’s single going up for sale. Have to laugh as the first 10 or so posts are all fangirling about how good Danny looks in his new pics. Not that he doesn’t, but you don’t usually see that at mj’s about Danny :)

    Hi Michelle – I think Danny’s song is getting great press – from the people that really count – the real media. Not the ridiculous internet gossip sites – most of these people have no clue what so ever when it comes to Country music.

    The haters must be getting really nervous. Because a lot of media, including 3 of Danny’s biggest critics – EW, MTV, MSJBlog all gave him good write-ups. And Adam and Kris have been struggling on the charts. Sorry, but Allison is not even in the running anymore.

    Think about this – if this was Michael Sarver releasing the single, the haters could care less. Most people would not even be talking about it.

    The fact that it was announced today that Danny’s single would be available on 12/8 – is a huge win. Sony Nashville obviously must have gotten great responses to the song. And it was just premiered Fri. Wow.

    Hey everyone, It is very sad about the haters coming out for another round of hating on Danny, but I also refuse to read all the hate stuff. I think it really doesn’t matter what kind of song Danny sings, they will have something bad to say. Why they would want to waste so much time and energy hating someone is beyond me but I’m happy that Danny is staying true to himself. I think haters feel like they’ve succeeded when they can get the Danny supporters riled up. So I refuse to let them win. Danny is so talented and deep down they know it and are threatened. Anyway, what happened , we lost all our hotness talk from this morning. Where is Latrece, to get it started again. Lol

    Can someone clarify. I did hear Ryan Seacrest talking about the contest for a live concert with Adam and Kris. But there was no mention of Allison at all.

    But I agree, it is PR attemtpt to get sales up. Ryan personally has never been all that fond of Kris. He trashed him on his radio the show after the finale. And Kris’ fans have complained that Ryan gave Kris a really bad interview when his single came out.

    I am sure Danny will be on Ryan’s show. Ryan has always liked him. Danny was chosen to do his wedding show promo.

    In as far as haters on Twitters, they are probably nothing new to Danny (or any of the Idols). Remember – he can always block them.

    Congratulations to Danny Gokey for willing the Milwaukeean of the Year Award. This goes to show that although Tom Barrett (Mayor)is a hero, Danny truly has represented Milwaukee very well on not only the local scene with SHF, but on the national and international scene with American Idol. The man has style and class! This is the first of many more awards coming his way! :)

    The dumb haters on twitter & the fan blogs are what they are. I try to counter them just for therapy and amusement.

    I do hate to read one as frankly twisted as that movieline thing though. Bugged me on so many levels, and not even just about Danny. Just the overall attitude and cultural, religious condescension and distortion.

    Well, I don’t know how the haters have ever succeeded in any way. They never stopped Danny from getting great reviews and applause during the tour. They never stopped Danny from landing a record contract with a major label. They never stopped Danny from working with one of the most sought after producers in Country music.

    And in as far Danny not winning AI – honestly, that was the best thing that could have ever happened to him. He didn’t have the hassle of recording an album during the tour. And he if were signed earlier, Mark Bright likely would not have been available since he was still working with Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts.

    And look at what’s happened to Kris. He is nothing more than Adam’s assistant. They have done a horrible job of promoting him. Trust me; Danny is much better off away from all that nonsense.

    Again, I don’t know how the haters have ever thought they succeeded. Because the FACTS don’t support any of their nonsense at all.

    Pam, congratulations and that’s great that Danny won the award. Did someone attend to accept for him? He probably couldn’t get away from Nashville with the CMAs this week, even if he wasn’t at that other event tonight.

    DJG Music – You have also been keeping me busy on the “mainstream” sites that have reviewed Danny’s single – “It’s Only”. LOL! The USA Today site with Brian Mansfield has been a trip. I believe some haters are visiting all of the sites and putting something stupid in as a comment.

    From what I can tell, Danny’s reviews have all been positive from all credible people with some kind of intelligence and a brain! I really don’t enjoy reading snarky, stupid comments about Danny’s single – but try to defend whenever possible.

    I did post a question on the USA Today (Brian’s Mansfield) about why so long between when the song was released 11/6 to when you could buy it 12/14 – someone must have been listening or the demand for the song has been so high, they decided to release it a week early. Good news!

    I can’t wait to hear what the other country radio stations say about the single (outside of Milwaukee). Keep the good news coming!

    Just want to say to our more conservative members here; as you all prob. figured out, lol, I’m on the liberal side; and I see nothing remotely right wing about Danny’s song.
    No one wants a hand out whether you are liberal or conservative, we all want a hand up and a chance to make it on our own.
    I really reamed the Shep Express (same award thing I was at tonight, lol) because they tried to make it political, altho not in a real hater way, just a liberals seeing sarah palin in the corner kind of way, lol.

    Michelle – the haters really have no clue to way they are posting. I doubt most have any idea about Country Music, who Mark Bright, Lady Antebellum is. They often trapped themselves with their ridiculous comments.

    I remember one poster saying that “It’s Only” was the worst song ever and that Danny should not have won American Idol!!! And when they make swaps about the song having religious or messaging undertones – that’s an insult to a lot of country music fans who are the religious type and family type (per Matt Bjorke). And they are also insulting people who may have more conservative beliefs. Everyone is different.

    As a poster said on TWoP, the haters are coming from the MTV mentality and not realizing that this song is not intended for that teeny bopper, hip hop, rocker, crowd.

    Saw another person on twitter, maybe not a hater, who was asking why Danny was doing a country song since ‘he did all that alternative rock’ on AI.

    wth?? Maybe some people have forgotten who won, and think it’s Danny after so many months have gone. Not good for Kris, if that’s the case that they can’t remember his name.

    Whatever peeps think of him, Danny seems to always be memorable.

    I know Steph, it also bugged me that we are seeing Matt’s tweets and pics on country award show! And Matt made fun of country (said “yee hah”) on the infamous ’snake” interview.
    I believe it is deliberate; keeping Danny out of the limelight until there is a big splash. I will trust his people, I guess!

    Matt has to keep his name more out in the public – since he still doesn’t have a recording contract. He doesn’t have a record label behind him the way that Danny does. Makes a huge difference when you have a professional team working with you, especially since Danny is just starting out in the business.

    I love Matt, but some times he does over do it with the Tweets. But I understand why he’s doing it.
