Hello everybody! Have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy Danny’s beautiful voice. I’m doing some work stuff on my computer and Danny’s new song is playing in the background. Just love it!

Chinese gokey fan, great to see you’ve started also posting here regularly.
I am very happy for Danny: Danny is really making progress in his plans. I read some of the comments from last night regarding Danny’s impact and reach in the music industry. I am completely positive that Danny will reach the urban GOspel and CCM, Country and strongly possibly Adult Contemporary as well. I believe the label made the song Palatable enough for Country and Modern enough for a cross over appeal; his message is universal despite the “religious overtones” the message of Compassion towards your neighbor, the homeless person, and those in distress transcends religion, it is a Clarion Call back to Humanity. I realize those who hate Danny are going to deliberately interpret his music as a form of religious imposition, they are determined to question his motivation and put doubt in the minds of the readers regarding his intention.
As a Minority, Danny’s music is going to have a significant appeal to the AA community because it is soulful, full of compassion and speaks to the issues of poverty, outcast, and separation. This is great news because when an artist is able to reach the Non-white community with a message of hope, their music/song is deemed strong and solid to the core; possibly Danny’s music may be picked up by some of the urban stations because some of the urban artist are very familiar with Danny’s background and his desire to help minority youth, the urban community see this as a positive step in the right direction so they will do what is necessary to promote and solidify his message for the community. I realize the Necessity for Danny to gain the support of the Country music lovers and media outlets in order to gain ground in the Country music industry, but his message is going to reach beyond the borders of the country audience, his message is going to have a cross over appeal to a wide audience.
Danny’s whole agenda is about Unity, Love and brotherhood; therefore, his music and foundation is going to be coherent with the same message and it is going to have a broad reach. I am sure Danny grossly appreciates Country Music’s message of family, love, and matters of the heart; however, this message is not just limited to the country audience, and ” mid AMerica, Blue Collar workers” but it is applicable to anyone who is struggling and dealing with life’s challenges.
Hello Hannele it is so wonderful to see you here this morning. The Challenges still faces me, there are no easy answers and this is life. I am just dealing with my concerns as much as possible. I just wanted to give my take on Danny’s progress!!
Latrece, you are truly a wonderful and talented person in the way you are able to express your thoughts in words.I’m sure Danny would love your comment.

Latrece, I will definitely take lots of pictures both animals and people.I’m going to visit some poor villages, which have been getting help from community projects. These projects help improve the lives of women and children and at the same time protect the natural environment.
Reference to the message in Danny’s song. Anybody who finds is “cheesy” etc. must have a cynical mind and somewhat hard values. Most people in the Western World are totally focused on wrong things and too often think only about their own good and are closing their eyes from the real life surrounding us.
My boyfriend said to me this morning after we had listened to Danny’s song that it’s very difficult to listen to anything else after It’s Only, because Danny’s vocals are so fantastic that he doesn’t really know which artist he could listen to after Danny!
Oh my that is a mile stone hannele!!! that your boyfriend felt that strongly about Danny’s song, GREAT!! Hannele you are so right about the Western culture of selfishness. I am hoping Danny will have a small part in making some impact of helping your neighbor a positive thing instead of a Cheesy thing!!

I can’t wait to hear a full album of songs made for Danny. It’s going to be so awesome.

I was unable to stop by yesterday, was busy all day with an outreach program for my church, and was too tired to drop by last evening. Actually read all those post somewhere around 3AM last night, when I woke up in the middle of the night. Can you tell iheart is a priority for me?
Just wanted to say….
CGF – That I really admire what you are doing to spread Danny’s music in your country.
Latrece – That I am praying for and your beautiful daughter, and whatever challenge you are going through. I believe you have captured the true essence and impact of Danny as a man. What he is trying to do in this world is so beautiful.
Hannele – That we all need a reminder to look out from within and see the needs of others around us in our communities and within the world. So, thank you for the reminder, and the work you are doing.
Lastly, I made a note that we missed over two newcomers yesterday. Tony and Starlit stopped by to post for the first time.

CGF really did a great job promoting Danny’s single! A little report from China: The youku(similar site as youtube) version has been played about 800 times. That’s quite a big number for a new artist. And the reviews are really very very good. Of course fans love it. Most non-fans love it too. Only a few think this song is not big enough for Danny’s voice. Even some haters admit it’s a great song! I can’t even believe my eyes when reading their comments!
I’m so proud of our Danny boy! I’m so proud to be his fans!!! See you at CMA next year Danny~~!

Good morning Lulu, Steph, Maryann, Hannele, Latrece. I’m listening to Danny’s beautiful song (on repeat of course. I really appreciate your comments, Latrece. I think you have captured what Danny’s trying to do with his music and “his Movement”. Thinking of the selfishness of our society and the beauty of this music has brought me to tears this morning. This song just does it to me.
When the haters call this song cheesy and not big enough, I should go back and read your comments, Latrece. You expressed it so well.
Danny has taken such BIG steps. Just yesterday my husband reflected how much Danny’s life has changed in 16 months. To losing his wife, to the turmoil/joy of American Idol to finding his way in the recording industry. Its truly amazing.

Still foggy after getting up at 4am to tell the girls to turn the dance music down (now if it was Danny it would have been ok,lol) and stop laughing so loud. I thought after swimming hard at sectionals they would have been exhausted but they were out jumping on the trampoline (I kicked them off at midnight!) also; ah sweet youth.
Hannele; even though off topic- perhaps Amy might make an exception and post your Africa pics and recap? Because that would be a very important thing for Danny- he would love us to see kindness and charity displayed! Just a thought.

Both Brian Mansfield (USA Today) and Matt Bjorke (Roughstock) are big time Country Music writers who have always been supportive of Danny. A lot of industry people read the L.A. Times.

Hi everyone. “It’s Only” – Cheesy??? Got to remember that the Danny and the song are more targeted for the Country music audience, possibly CMM – and hopefully some cross over to mainstream pop.
And that’s why it succeeds. I have read a lot of feedback where people felt that of all the 4 singles released, Danny came the closest to representing who is as an artist.
Danny is going after a different audience than Adam, Kris, Allison – who are all vyving for the competitive MTV, young, “edgy”, “cool” crowd.
We all knew the haters were going to dislike anything Danny did. And I doubt any of them have any clue what so ever about Country music.

Beautiful comment Latrece. You aren’t suppose to bring tears to my eyes so early – I haven’t even listened to Danny’s single yet this morning.
This is off topic a little but I found this comment about sales of the Idols at MJ’s interesting. I happen to agree with the poster although a little premature since we don’t really know yet how any of Season’s 8 top four will do. The poster is mainly talking about Kris, Adam and Allison since their singles are already for sale but will apply to Danny also as soon as his goes on sale in December.
“Right now it appears as if none of the singles for the AI s8 idols are doing well on iTunes. Middling on the iTunes Hot 100 on the week your tune went on sale on iTunes is VERY bad IMO. iTunes is probably the most noticed place for young ppl buying music and if the songs don’t achieve top 10 and better yet #1, it reflects poorly on a) their original AI fan base’s ability to give them high initial sales and b) it suggests that non-idol watchers will not even realize the song exists and c) that the singles won’t be radio hits. This is a HUGE problem and I think part of the problem is with 19 Entertainment signing 4 of them thus splitting the marketing power. Or else 19 is just too plain cheap to give the idols effective promotion. And believe me single sales will reflect album sales. And a gold album without the single sales to match it will not lead to career success and may lead to them being dropped from their labels at the end of a year or two. For ex., probably the only reason David A. wasn’t dropped was b/c Crush was a very successful single and so his label intends to give him a sophmore album with more tunes like Crush. David C. on the other hand, sold a platinum album though his single sales essentially bombed after TofML. So he won’t be dropped yet either. But if his sophmore flops, he’ll be dropped before he knows what hit him. Jordin Sparks has had a lot of success with R&B singles so she has essentially made it. Her sophmore debut is laden with the types of singles that worked off of her first album and so her label will cont. to market her successfully. Daughtry took off right away with his album sales and single sales. My point is success has to happen right away or the idols are dropped period. Right now the single sales are just NOT there for S8 faves and that does not bode well for Adam, Kris, or Allison.”

I am listening to Danny’s official Utube version right now. If there was only one version he would have over 20,000 views already. Too bad Danny’s label can’t get rid of the other versions so everyone would have to listen to the official version with the beautiful picture and advertisement for his official website. Hope Danny fans know that is the one they should listen to because his label will probably be checking the number of views on it.

Lizzy, that is an interesting comment from mj’s. I’m not sure what I think of the fan-splitting theory, to me Adam, Kris and Allison aren’t all that similar, and it’s only a three or four dollar commitment for someone to buy all their songs if they actually like them, or at least want to show their support. (I will eventually buy TFM whenever I remember on iTunes.)
There could be something to do with the confusing choice of singles they’ve had out–Kris with LLWD, Adam with fans not too sure what to make of both TFM and FYE out in the same month. For Allison, the way her single has rolled out for sale is pretty strange.
Also, the labels probably consider all the possible sources of revenue, not just single sales. Album sales, concert tickets (which may help Danny and Adam especially), DVDs, merchandise (Adam may do well with that, or even Allison for the teenie girl market).
They seem to be targeting Allison to put out Spanish language versions of her songs for the Latino market, as well as the mainstream market. I could almost imagine Danny doing that also with the right song sometime down the road.

Lizzy, very scary for the other idols. I think Allison is getting washed away and Adam and Kris will hang on–but who knows.
The fact that Danny’s label is taking such a different approach with the promotion/song choice/built up anticipation/quiet periods makes me feel that Danny is really getting the help of the best to make him successful.
I think some of the critics that say this isn’t showing Danny’s power aren’t listening to the WHOLE song. Its there and its beautifully done. I’ll admit, the first time I listened to Kris’ single I stopped midway…..I like it but I wouldn’t buy it.
I think all my family/good friends will be receiving I-tune gifts from me on 12/14…If I learn how to do it!!!LOL Jan
The problem I see is that Adam, Kris and Allison are all going after the same market – both their singles and albums – all at the same time. And David Archuleta, David Cook, Jordin Sparks, Daughtry – were all marketed as the young, pop/rock artists – again to appeal to the MTV crowd. Again, that goes with almost Idol signed by 19.
Brian Mansfield, the big time Country Music Columnist for USA Today blogged that TPTB (The Powers To Be) for Danny is different than Adam, Kris and Allison, since he is in a completely different market.
In all 8 seasons 19E has only signed 4 artists to Country labels – Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler have been huge success stories. The only exception was Kristy Lee Cook. But she was set up to fail to begin with. She recorded her album over a 2 week period during the tour. There huge backlash from Country music fans when her signing was announced. Brian Mansfield and Matt Bjorke who are big Danny fans, hated Kristy Lee Cook.

I looked at Danny’s youtube “It’s Only” version and he has over 12,000 views on there, his Myspace has over 270,000 views on it and the song has over 3000 plays on the song, I think that is great for just two days!! I looked at Adam Lambert and he has only 18,000 views on his youtube version of FYE within the last month, but I am noticing since danny’s Single has been released, the Adamites are trying to ramp up ADam’s views on youtube and other tactics to make it appear that he is out pacing Danny ( what a shame), But I believe these numbers are good for Danny, what does anyone else think of these figures??!!

Kristy was likable and cute, but she was also a pretty iffy singer much of the time.
Most reasonable people, even if they don’t care for his style, will readily admit Danny has a great voice.

Latrece, I don’t know what to compare against, but I think over 30,000 views in barely two full days is pretty great when Danny has made no tv appearances or other high-profile events to support the single yet at all. Especially when reputedly Danny fans aren’t heavily online.
Beyond his short radio interview Friday morning with the Milwaukee radio, everything else has been viral spreading of the news through AI media blogs and fan sites, some country music sites, Danny’s twitter (eventually, he waited quite a while even to do that), and word of mouth.

Just curious, has anyone seen congratulatory tweets to Danny on his new single from the other Idols? I do follow Matt and Scott and I haven’t seen anything. –even tho Matt keeps tweeting about going to Nashville….. Did I just miss it?
It is interesting that in all 8 seasons, Danny is the first male Idol to be signed to a major Country Label and to 19E.
Danny is also the only 3rd place finisher to sign with a major label and to record with 19E.
There are always lots of expected comparisons in sales with Kris, Adam and Cook and Archie. But can critic’s legimately compare Danny to Syesha Mecardo, who doesn’t even have a recording contract. Don’t even see legit comparisons between Danny and Carrie Underwood, because Danny did not win AI.
The only 3rd place finisher who’s had any success is Elliot Yamin (who is a huge Danny fan) and Kimberly Locke.
And when the haters have tried to compare Danny against Kristy Lee Cook (because she failed) he comes off way, way ahead.

Someone asked Michael in his twitter extravangza the other day, and he said he liked it. That’s all I’ve seen so far.
I kind of sympathize with the finalists though, that fans of the others keep pestering them if they don’t come out on twitter to congratulate the others every time something good happens. I’ve seen some Danny fans asking Matt, but he hasn’t commented yet.
Behind the scenes, they seem to text or call each other and remain friendly. Matt or Michael recently said he had talked to all of the other Top 10 since the tour, one way or another.

I think I’ve seen some tweets between Danny and Adam, and Allison/Danny, but can’t remember on what topics.
I assume they just talk to each other privately by text or DMs vs. having to prove their friendship out on the public twitter accounts. When Danny’s been so frugal with his tweets lately, he’s barely talking about his own music in public anyway.
Maybe Matt will get him to do more when he hits Nashville. It seems that may be next week when Danny will be in town? If Matt goes to Nashville much later, he may miss Danny who’ll be off to LA.

I know the song was written by the Lady A guys, but I haven’t seen where anyone said whether or not it was written specifically for Danny? Possibly if it wasn’t written for Danny, this is a song that didn’t fit Lady A’s upcoming second album, or something they were inspired to write that was never meant for Lady A itself.
It would be nice if they either wrote it for Danny, or at least offered it proactively to Danny, as a sign that they liked him and thought he could do their songwriting justice.

Steph, I did read that somewhere; but of course I can’t remember where. Its possible it was from another fan who said it, so may not be accurate.
Doesn’t it seem tailor made for Danny though, between the topic, the faith reference (I don’t really know Lady Antebellum, the songs everyone has posted here have been more romantic), and the melody with its falsetto and riffs; not your usual country vocals!
The media push, interviews, appearances really needs to come not only right before 12/14 – but the several weeks after that as well. The bigger ones will come with the album. And I would rather see the tweets from the Idols – when it really counts – when the song is available to be purchased.
We all love Danny – but there is a danger of being over exposed in the media. And I honestly think if he did a huge media blitz at this point – it would not be as effective as if it was closer to 12/14 or several weeks after. It’s still a month away when the single will be officially released.
In the meantime, he has his website going up, he will be doing the radio tour, and he has the CMA this week, personal appearances, the Ryan Seacrest special – all opportunities for Danny to plug the single. He also likely will be doing a video with the song.

Their song about “I Run to You” is more romantic on the surface, but in listening to it I’ve often thought there could be a faith message behind it also.
It really works for Danny. It would be interesting to hear their original demo as to how they performed it, compared to all the places Danny takes it vocally. I suspect a lot of what we hear Danny doing, are things he’s put on it himself that the Lady A guys may never even have imagined

Good morning everyone. Quick post here regarding an issue Rachel brought up last night after I had turned off my computer.
Earlier in the week, my Twitter account was hacked and I tweeted everyone that this had happened. Changed my password three times in one day – those of you who follow me on Twitter knew how aggravated I was. On Thursday I received an e-mail from Twitter saying there was a phishing attack off of Twitter and they had reset my password again.

Hannele, I can’t wait to see pictures of your little rhino! He’s so adorable. I agree with you, that anyone who hates Danny or his music must be cynical to the core and have very hard values. There’s actually a Muslim poster at IDF (a 34 year old male, not gay) who is a huge Danny fan and alwyas says the same thing. He says Danny’s appeal is that he is completely devoid of the cynicism that’s so prevalent in his generation today, and this is precisely why he is hated and seen as so “uncool” by those who are cynical. He has a pure heart, and pure emotion that comes through in his vocals. Even though this man is a non-Christian, he doesn’t find anything overtly religious or offensive about the mention of Jesus in the lyrics. He thinks the message is universal, and it is. Danny has been blessed with a huge heart, and God or the Higher Power or whatever you want to call it is is giving him this opportunity to make an impact on the world through his music and his works.
It’s Only had a kind of delayed impact on me. At first when I heard it I just sat their kind of stunned by its beauty. But every time I hear it, not only do I love it more, but it makes me cry. I can’t help it.

Lizzy, thanks for the post about the Idols and record sales, and how quickly they are dropped if they don’t make an immediate impact with their singles/albums. It’s a little scary. Unfortunately I think both DA and DC could easily be dropped if their sophomore albums don’t do well. I also agree that this year’s Idols are probably turning out to be disappointments to 19, even though the verdict’s not really out on Adam yet. Since Adam’s primary appeal is visual, I think his record sales will be surprisingly low. He won’t be dropped right away, but Kris could be, sadly. I think Simon was right–he is this years Taylor Hicks. As for Danny, even though the haters predicted he’d be the next Taylor Hicks, I actually think he could be this season’s Daughtry, and the most successful of the 4 signed. I also think part of the reason for the disappoinment in sales is due to what many people have complimented Danny for. That he single turned out to be the closest in representing who he is as an artist.
Adam was supposed to be this edgy, rocker type. But TFM is nothing more a middle of the road pop ballad. Allison was supposed to be this young, rocker chick. But her single is nothing more than a Kelly Clarkson sounding pop song. And Kris is shouting and talking throughout his single – which is a cover song that failed the first time around. He was always more well known for his thoughtful ballads.
Just popping in with a thought. I wonder if Randy Travis has heard Danny’s new single?

Helio, I know, that song is anything but generic. I just crack up when I read some of the comments at EW (which they obviously just copy from critiques of other Idols) where they say this song is generic, or even that you can’t tell its Danny and its overproduced!!! ROFLMAO. Obviously they didn’t even listen to it.
Perhaps the instrumentation is a little loud (although I saw one of our members here post elsewhere they wanted LOUDER instrumentation!) but overproduced compared to the others…pleze. And who can’t tell its Danny?- just spitting in the wind here, haters, so obvious.

That other youtube that had the big number of hits also is gone now, with a note that Sony made a copyright claim. They’ve redirected the links to go to Danny’s official youtube version. It’s probably good that they are so quick in protecting 19/RCA and Danny’s interests? They must have either made the claim to youtube sometime on Friday, or had someone do it over the weekend.
I’m liking the official version best anyway though, due to that beautiful picture that’s with it. Lol.

Hi to Betty. I don’t know if Randy Travis has heard the song. Would be interested how Randy likes it, or Keith Urban who also was supportive of Danny during AI. Randy was the one who talked about the exceptional soulfulness Danny has in his singing? Certainly that is totally evident all over this this song, so hopefully Randy would value that.
I’d expect that Mark Bright or someone with RCA had different people in the Nashville community listen to the song and give feedback before they decided this would be the single, and finalized the arrangement and production.
DJG, good point about why the other idols are not doing very well. Their songs are not representing who they are as artists,and it’s sad because it’s not their fault at all. Let Adam be an edgy glam rocker, let Allison be a rocker chick like Pink, let Kris be the singer songwriter he really is. Then I think they would do well. But 19, as usual, has chosen the most bland, pop-sounding songs from all of them as their first releases, and people listening don’t feel anything because they can sense this isn’t who these people really are, and that’s why they sound so generic. Unfortunately that’s what’s happening to DC too, who is an awesomely talented alt rocker-singer/songwriter, and who would be doing so much better if 19 chose some of his self-written songs for release instead of the bland pop-sounding CBTM which doesn’t represent what he’s really all about.
Danny can’t be marketed as pop (even though he might well cross over into pop) because he’s in country, an entirely different category, and even though he didn’t start out as a country artist, he has embraced the genre with his heart and soul, and so his single is 100% him and represents who he is. That’s why it moves people, and why it will do well. Besides, country isn’t as difficult a genre for a newbie to do well in as pop. rock or r&b. Those are extremely difficult genres for any new artist to do well in, even if they are true to who they are.
I noticed something else about Danny’s lack of cynicism. Becuase of that he seems almost incapable of sarcasm or bitter irony (the Muslim poster I mentioned earlier noticed this about Danny first). The few times Danny has tried to be sarcastic, it comes off very awkward, and of course that gets the haters’ panties in a bunch, saying he’s socially awkward, etc. Danny doesn’t need to be sarcastic or ironic to be cool. His coolness is in his utter honesty and lack of cynicism, and that’s what makes him stand out from everyone else. Country music is definitely the right musical genre for him, as it’s a branch of music that values itself on good old fashioned working class values (that could apply to any class because they’re really universal) rather than edginess.

Personally I think the production for Danny’s song is just fine, especially after listening to the official version of it and a copy I was able to import into my iPod. (Hearing it live on the radio stream that morning, I was too gaga to really focus, lol.)
I don’t have any of the concerns that I did about overproduction with the singles for Kris, Adam, and Allison, though I suppose to be fair I’ve only listened to theirs so far with my cruddy laptop speakers.

Helio, I’m not sure I think Adam really is a rocker, although he can often handle rock songs very well (when he doesn’t get too screetchy, which I don’t care for).
I think he probably likes that glam/pop/techno dance type music pretty well, I suspect FYE probably was Adam’s choice. I just don’t think it’s what his AI fans were anticipating, especially those who saw him as this glam-rock persona. And I’m probably not the only person in the world who finds the lyrics a turnoff, in addition to the overproduction.
I can understand the rationale for Alli’s single. I don’t get Kris’s at all, and he of all of them needs the most help with clean production values for his singing to make any kind of real impression.
I did clear my conscience though, and finally paid my $1.29 on iTunes for TfM. Lol.
You guys have to remember, we really love Danny and everyhing Danny. Again, it’s the people outside, not the haters, but the targeted audience. Will this grab them, he’s got us. Don’t slam me, I haven’t heard the song today, I can’t remember a line to sing along with. I heard the song yesterday at least 40 times. When I hear the song playing, I love it! Go figure.

But I think he is dance poppy, lady gaga. Is there room for more of that? IDK. He may do very well once fans catch on with his visual performances. I think that is why his fans haven’t come out in droves and why TFM actually did better. Or, could his fan base not be as huge as it seems?

WOW I really LOve Lady Antebellum “I run to You” song, It has spiritually written all over it!! it ooozes with matters of faith. The video reflected how each individual did acts of kindness and that act of kindness became contagious and each person demonstrated kindness to the next person!! I will say this; Danny is a person that is outside of the box in terms of his passion and determination to make Change happen in his community and abroad. I will reference to some of the comments made regarding what type of music Video Danny will make; I don’t see Danny as a crowd pleaser per se, he will not fit into the nice stereotype of just being very subtle with his message. I believe the music video will have some strong and raw statements regarding the imbalance in our society/world as it relates to poverty, hate, disunity and hopelessness that currently exist. I realize the haters are trying to setup the tone and intensity by which Danny should present his message in the video; I hear criticism of Danny romanticizing tragedy and ingratiating his audience to win over their sympathy (again!), They miss the whole essence of what Danny is all about; Danny has put into practice just about everything he has set out to do and they still call him a fake! (His organization is a fake, his contract with 19 is just a sham, it is only temporary, he is not truly committed to Country music and etc.). There are no safe grounds with the haters, no matter how he presents his message; they are going to condemn him, and so he may well be as authentic as he can be to himself.
We still live in a free society and Christians have a right to exercise their faith just as any other religious group or person does, therefore, if the haters are repulsed by Danny, then perhaps they should completely ignore him if he causing them to be ill.
I get the sense that some of Danny’s message is going to be very direct and blunt and other times subtle! Our society hates Change, unfortunately, Danny’s message is about movement towards change so the haters are going to fight tooth and nail to criticize, and condemn his message!! Also, I think he may have some strong images in his videos that will just Burn the haters to the core!! He is going to be called everything but a human being. We the Danny fans, probably should prepare ourselves for the onslaught of hate that is about to come. Danny is very serious about his message; therefore, he will present a message about love, compassion, and harmony but the process to get to that place is sometimes ugly.
Pam and Steph, I think you are right about Adam. He’s not really a rocker at all, and the FYE is probably his true style. Unfortunately, besides the questionable lyrics (which have even been a turnoff to some Adam fans), the song does absolutely nothing for his voice. I’m not a huge fan of Adam’s high pitched vocals, but he IS incredibly talented and his fans do love that high pitched style, and so the song should be showcasing that. But it’s so overproduced it drowns out his vocals, and there is barely any melody, so it could be anyone singing it. You can’t even tell it’s Adam. While TFM may not really be Adam’s true style, I like it better because it allows Adam to show his range, even though it too is overproduced.
Latrece, once again you wrote an excellent thought provoking post. What the haters are reacting to isn’t Danny’s message per se, it’s that they are so cynical they don’t believe he can possibly be sincere. That’s why they are always calling his organization and values fake, and his personality smarmy. They have seen so many others (including politicians) talk the talk but not walk the walk that they can’t believe Danny really means it. In a way I don’t blame them for feeling this way, because many people in the public eye DON’T mean what they say, and don’t walk the walk. It’s no wonder they are so cynical. But some have been won over when during the tour, they could FEEL how sincere Danny’s performances were, and how sweet he was to his fans. They realized Danny was not a fake, and as such were able to embrace his message too.
Remember how much better WHTM got by the end of the tour, from his Idol version, once Danny no longer was competing and he could let down all the emotional barriers that were holding him back on the show? I think Danny is most comfortable performing in front of a live audience, and it gives me chills to think what he will do to It’s Only when he’s singing it live before an audience. They might have to call in FEMA due to flooding from all the tears being shed. LOL
Helio your message regarding the Muslim fan was defintely on spot and the cynicsim that is so prevalent in our society!! I am sure Danny is going to win over a lot of people; however, there have been great leaders in our past that have recieved hate because they went against the grain. Unfortunately, there are people in our society who do not want to see equalibrium and peace to prevail because it interferes with the power stucture and the powers that be, so casting cynicism as a front is convenient for them. I believe in some cases cynicism is real and others it is just a ploy to Disguise hate or resistance to change!! I really enjoyed reading your comments Helio keep up the good work!!

Thank you for the Welcome. I figured that it was due to moderation. I chose this fan site since I gather some of you are in my age range,I have been married for 28 yrs, have a 22 yr old son. My admiration for Danny is due to the fact that he made a promise to his wife and he is keeping it;he has a heart of gold;his voice draws you in since he gives it his all with feelings and emotions . I caught the Danny bug after I saw him concert on 8/19 (2nd row)and his speech was so inspiring. Never knew about the meet n greet and so I missed that. I learned about the solo concert after watching videos on youtube . BTW I am only about 2 hours driving time from that college. I am still kicking myself for not going. Shortly after is when I started to follow him on twitter and etc. Being that I am new here let me say this Adam should have won AI, lets face it he is a performer and a very talented singer I don’t quite understand why he had not been discovered before AI he shouldn’t have even been on AI since he is so talented i wanted to share that since you all talk about Adam too. Danny should have had 2nd place. I think that being Danny’s 1st single is so beautiful we don’t know what else is in store Its Only the beginning and Its Only going to get better. Post,post on every site you can think of since the music industry needs to hear from us. Well this is too long but one last thing. I find myself getting addicted to this site when I should be doing something else, I am sure it is the same for all the fans that have been on this site since day 1. That is funny that you are going to watch the CMA’s for the first time. I’m there with you. Although I listen to some country I have never watched the CMA’s. I am tuning in this year not only for Carrie Underwood (I’m a fan) but in hopes to get a glimps of Danny and also because I like Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker and a few others.
I started listening to some country because of Carrie but I still like all genres of music including CCM. Since I thought Danny was going country I started listening to it even more. I still don’t like the traditional twangy male country singers. I listen to “The Highway” on satellite radio which has a lot of the new country songs. “The Highway” is where I heard Lady Antebellum (they seem like soft rock to me) and I love their latest two songs “I Run to You” and “Need You Now” which I downloaded and listen to constantly on my Ipod. When the guys from Lady A wrote Danny’s song I was absolutely thrilled. I do not think the male lead singer, Charles Kelley, sounds that country and he has a soulful voice like Danny’s IMO.
Also, I have no plans to download Danny’s song until it is available for sale so I just listen to it on Utube constantly.

Tonic, welcome to our site! I’m glad you’re not shy about admitting you wanted Adam to win. ITA, Adam is incredibly talented and I don’t know why he was never discovered before Idol either. The main reason I am more of a Danny fan is because I prefer his gravelly vocals to Adam’s higher pitched tone, but I was blown away by some of Adam’s performances on Idol (especially Mad World, which I adore) and I actually voted for him to win on finale night (even though I was still heartbroken over Danny being eliminated). I do like Kris, but never thought he should have been in the Final 2, and like Simon and many Glamberts, I wanted an Adam/Danny finale. Even though I would have wanted Danny to win, an Adam win wouldn’t have bothered me because I felt he deserved it. He was tied with Allison as my second favorite, and still is (actually I think I prefer him to Allison now).

I think that statement about liking to pick on Danny because everyone else did pretty much sums up the “hate.” It’s even more telling that many haters are admitting they like his single. Danny was the whipping boy of season 8 because of his innocence (which made him seem younger than many of the idols, even though he was the oldest) and his pure heart. We live in a very cynical society, but I think people like Danny are going to change that.
Danny has made such a change on alot of people. I fussed at 3 people last night, they got mad at me, tried to get their friends, called me a homophobe and, im sure while their still thinking about what they said their secretly listening to Dannys song

On to more important things. First off, it’s funny that no one’s talking about “Kradison” anymore. And I would think that their lackluster showing on the charts, actually can benefit Danny. He would have fewer odds to top.
There is buzz that Danny could turn out to be the Top seller from Season 8. Country music is a different animal than the competitive pop rock market. And Idol’s never really had a big male Country success. One of his biggest critics, EW has already predicted that “It’s Only” will be a big Country hit for Danny.

Someone posted on mjs earlier today that Adam’s song FYE was #68 on Itunes, Kris’s LLWD was at #77 and that Allison’s song was at #216. Adam and Kris’s numbers are not as high as I originally thought they would be given how vocal the Adam and Kris fans have been this season.
I think that the rankings of Adam, Kris and Allison’s singles is definitely an advantage for Danny. If he does decently the first week his single is available for download, like maybe get at least as high as the 50′s on Itunes, it will look more impressive for him.
I defintiely hope that Danny will at least crack the top 100, the first week his single is out.

My compromise is this — I will share the link to Danny’s song on his website to friends that I feel comfortable would not try to pirate the song. But if I know or suspect that a person has done pirating or file-sharing in the past, I won’t send the link.

I’ve been thinking about Danny today, too. He has to be in shock about all that is about to happen to him.
He seriously has a major hit on his hands. Lady A did an amazing job with that song. IMO, it is a descriptive narrative as to who he is as a man. So, his new listeners will get a sense of who he is, from the get go. Plus, there is the natural progression to his foundation. It all fits so beautifully.
Danny is so brave. Given one shot at a successful career, many wouldn’t dare release a song with such undertones. Not Danny. There he stands, a man among men. Good for him!

As far as any appearances for Danny, I don’t think we know for sure. He will be at the CMAs, so hopefully we can catch him on the red carpet show or at least in the audience on tv. That is Weds night starting at 7 pm east coast time on CMT, and then I think the award show moves to ABC.
The only other thing I’ve seen for this week, is that radio station director who hoped to interview Danny Monday or Tuesday for a show that his station runs at 5 pm Seattle time. If that actually happens, this is a link to the radio station. They stream online, or could possibly post the interview later if he’s able to talk with Danny.

Katy, also, I saw part of the corresponding you had with the glamberts yesterday. I know there are some things that some of them insist on that run counter to many people’s religious beliefs, including mine to be candid. So I can appreciate that completely, but there were one or two of your tweets to them that made me uncomfortable. Hope this is ok, but I would refer you to read through Danny’s blog from last month again? While some of the more rabid glamberts online get a little nuts and intolerant (while preaching ‘no hate’, etc which is interesting, given how some of them talk and act) — like Danny, Adam himself seems to set a good example in his own way. He commented in an interview that he knows Danny stands on certain beliefs based on his religion, and Adam said he accepts that. They can be friendly with each other, even though they don’t share the same beliefs or values about every subject or situation.
This is part of Danny’s blog, worth reading again when people are trying to provoke any of us. ‘ Because I was very open about my faith in God, people speculated that I hated certain groups of people whose lifestyles or beliefs were contrary to mine. But in fact it is because of my faith that I have learned that love is unconditional and it goes beyond lifestyle, beliefs and any limitation that we as humans tend to put on it.’

I’m sure they want as many people as possible to listen to the audio version or click to play the youtube copy, even though they would also hope for them to buy it when it comes up for sale next month. I was interested that Deb said the iTunes copy may be an extended version of the song, which would give people a reason to buy it even if they have downloaded a version before.
Even for those who won’t buy it though, it still exposes them to Danny so they may pick up one of his future songs off iTunes, or buy the physical CD or a concert ticket someday?

In addition to what Danny wrote in his blog, there are lots of photos and videos from the AI tour and other moments this year where they clearly are very kind toward each other in person, despite the fanwars.
I think it was Danny talking to MTV News that one time, where he hoped the fans could get along or at least respectfully disagree.

A lot of people interested in AI do visit sites like mj’s, so personally I opt not to ignore them while understanding others may not find them worth their time. Or may find the negativity that can sometimes (not always) be visible there to be uncomfortable.

I too, enjoy MJs on occ, as long as I’m not banned. I guess its just satisfying sometimes to point out the silly hatred or set someone straight there, as well as post positive things about Danny so others aren’t intimidated to post positively. And like someone (Steph?/Lizzy) said earlier, the more interest/posts for Danny, the more likely MJ is to post news about him.
I definitely agree, though DJG Music, that the important posts are the more mainstream, esp. if you want to avoid a lot of hate at silly gossip sites like Rickey or MJ.

What is better yet, is the fact that she has begun singing the song today. She has a lovely voice. It is a real treat to hear her singing Danny’s song so beautifully with her obviously female voice.

Many of us here do post comments on important sites but we also post at MJ’s and other blogs (TWOP) and post tweets, etc.
I have even gone so far as to join other fan clubs (Carrie, Rascal Flatts, Lady A) early so I can mention Danny every once in a while, especially when his single and CD drop. I also have been a regular poster at USA Today Idol Chatter and have emailed Brian Mansfield. I also follow every possible country music media on twitter in hopes they will be writing about Danny soon. We all like to post different things. I don’t search out or post pictures of Danny but really appreciate those that like to post Danny pics for us to look at. I am a regular poster at MJ’s and will continue to do so because I think it is important to post comments wherever he is mentioned.

Also, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum co-wrote the song “Do I” for country artist Luke Bryan. The female singer of the group Hilary Scott did background vocals, for that song.
It would have been cool if she could have done background vocals for Danny’s song “It’s Only”. She could have added a bit of a female touch to the song.

For some reason I have an easier time envisioning her singing with Danny vs. Martina McBride. It would be more interesting to me anyway.
I have to admit, I am really surprised that Danny has inspired the baby boomers and beyond to become active humanitarians; rarely has anyone been able to truly motivate an older generation of people to be proactive about a cause. I sense Danny has provoked this age group to come alive and feel a sense of purpose and contribution to a greater cause; the baby boomer’s response to Danny’s call to action truly speaks volumes about his Character. Danny truly embodies the spirit of Dr. MLK Jr., Ghandi, and Father TUTU; his mission is to collectively help people speak with one voice of Unity among everyone. Danny is considered the MOSES of this generation. His message is “I come in the name of love to say LET MY PEOPLE GO!!” from poverty, hate, dispair and etc. I am thoroughly impressed with his passion and committment!!

I hope that he does let loose more on the longer version and that the instrumentation for that version is heavier. I think that the song would sound better if these things happened.

I did use the dannygokey.com address, since that will be Danny’s permanent official website. Right now, the dannygokey.com domain is working, it just is temporarily pointed to the official myspace page until the full-blown site is ready to roll. All the same for now.
I was reading mjs and someone just posted that Adam’s song FYE is #74 on Itunes, while Kris’s song LLWD is #72. LLWD has now passed FYE on Itunes. What do you guys think about that? Someone on mjs says that Kris’s sales are climbing because he is getting radio airplay, I can believe that.
Radio airplay is definitely important for any artist. I am glad that Danny is going on a radio tour. I hope that helps out his sales.

I tried testing dannygokeyofficial.com. It goes to some sort of page that isn’t anything I’d say belongs to Danny or RCA. Either the domain is not reserved, or someone has it parked on a page where they are selling stuff, or at least selling ads.
I started watching I Want to Work for Diddy 2 on VH1. Weird show, but kind of interesting.

Someone may have bought that dannygokeyofficial.com domain and is just parked on it. Some people do that with hopes of reselling it later. It only costs a few dollars to own a domain that’s not in use. (Like Joel claims he owns the timeformiracles.com domain, lol.)
Some information about who holds a domain is usually available through services like networksolutions.com. There is a ‘whois’ feature that has to list at least an administrator although some things can be kept private. ( ‘end of geek talk’

I think that theory makes sense too. I also read somewhere that Kris is going to be on VH-1′s Top 20 Countdown later this month.
And I think that his video might have just been added onto VH-1′s voting page for people to vote onto the countdown. I haven’t checked that site to find that out for certain, but I think I saw someone say that somewhere.
I think that Adam’s sales will go up after he gets more radio airplay and performs on the AMA’s. And I hope that the radio tour helps boost sales for Danny.

Hey everyone, Just stopped in to say hi. Hope I’m not missing a lot of Danny news.
I am certain the radio tour will help boost sales. I am so glad 19/RCA is taking time promoting him and preparing the public for the official release and his album. So many haters have predicted Danny is destined to be another Kristy Lee Cook, but this is so not the case. Her album was rushed out, she had to complete it during 2 weeks during the season 7 tour, she was never that popular to begin with (and only finished 7th), didn’t have an amazing voice, and had to compete with Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood in terms of sales, and both of them are far more popular and successful. Poor girl never had a chance. I also understand she was not well liked by some of the RCA Nash executives (I forgot the names) who never thought she should have been signed. Her album tanked and she was dropped. Danny has none of these disadvantages. He has only Bucky Covington to worry about (was he even signed by 19?) and he’s nothing to worry about.
AI always wanted a male country singer to win. This is close enough. I feel like he really did win now. They got what they wanted, and everyone will be fat and happy.

Hi Helio! Getting so excited about Danny’s future. Things are looking really good for him right now. No AI for us. She is only 12, soon to be 13. She is learning to play the guitar. She was practicing in her bedroom, while I was putting away laundry when I overheard her singing a couple of lines of IO. Made me smile!

Danny absolutely must be featured in his video for this, even if dramatic footage is shown to get the point across (it shouldn’t be too dramatic though). Can’t you just imagine how Danny will look singing this in a video? Outside somewhere, shadowy, mysterious lighting, wearing a black leather jacket, maybe walking through a landscape of some kind or through a city at dawn. He wouldn’t be playing an instrument, so he could be expressive with his hands (but none of that pantomiming he used to do on tour). I always loved at the way he would put his hand over his heart or his stomach when he belted. So passionate, it utterly melted me into goo.

I was just reading through the day’s topics…lots of good discussion. I am interested in how to gift songs to folks on iTunes. If that was answered, I didn’t catch it.
Also, just wondering, has anyone mentioned if us calling 106.1 and asking for Danny’s song to be played would help? Even though I am not in Milwaukee, I can hear it on iheartradio if I chose to listen to them, and I get free long distance calling so I was debating on doing that daily..that is calling in to request they play it.

No, Danny will never be fat. He’s in perfect shape and has lost a lot of weight this year. When I saw him in Charlotte, I was surprised by how small he really is in person. Not Kris-small or shrimpy, but he’s not that big either. I was amazed by how perfect his skin was. He’s much more gorgeous in person than he is in his pictures, he almost didn’t look real.

Katy, I don’t think we know any details about where or when the radio tour may be. That came from a (credible-seeming) person in Nashville who was tweeting that he’d be working with Danny on a radio tour, and they’d have several other musicians along. From separate tweets, it looks like one of the musicians will be Def Santiago.
Just from the timing of known events, I’m guessing it may not be until after Thanksgiving, unless they choose to squeeze in a stop here or there. From what I can remember:
- This week we know Danny will be in Nashville for the CMAs.
- He has to be in LA to sing at the wedding event on the 14th.
- He reportedly will be in LA for an interviews at least through the 17th, and possibly other days next week according to Def’s wife. She said her husband was starting his “rock stardom” in LA that week.
- Then Danny will be singing at the Detroit black-tie funding raiser on the 25th, and appearing in the big Thanksgiving parade the next morning. Some of that parade may be televised nationally.
- Hopefully, Danny will get a couple of days with family for Thanksgiving, but he’s due to appear at more events on Nov 28th in Grafton WI.
Seems to me he’s pretty booked for this month, and there are probably things we haven’t even heard about.
Helio…I hope you are right and they do inundate us with Danny interviews. My DVR is ready.

Darla, Amy put up an article here, I think. It’s an anniversary of something or other for that town, and one article I saw said Danny may have relatives near there so he wanted to do it.
He will be singing a short set at a local school, and appearing in a holiday parade. There’s also a VIP meet & greet where Pam was hoping to get tickets.

New Cindy, I don’t know if you’re a DC fan (everyone here knows I am) and I never thought I’d see the day where another idol would sing something that would move me as profoundly as DC’s Permanent, but It’s Only has. But Permanent made me cry because it was so incredibly sad, this song has a message of hope instead of desperation and loss. That doesn’t make it better necessarily, just different. They are two different artists with distinctive styles all their own, but what they both have in common is an uncanny ability to make you feel everything they sing because they feel what they sing. I think that’s why I’m a such a huge fan. I also have a thing for guys with powerful and growly, yet tender and sensitive vocals and they both have that too.
There’s more comments at the LA Times blog, and most are very, very positive. Mine shows up there now too, it’s out of moderation. I encourage everyone to post something–like DJG said, I think tastemakers and people who have influence actually read this blog, so the more positive feedback the better.

Another near off topic question…does anyone know who is doing the female background vocals on Its Only? I really think their voices blend well, and she does not over power him like some background singers do.

Darla, no idea on the background singers or other musicians, except that the keyboards may well be that Gordon Mote.
There were tweet reports that Gordon was working in the studio with Danny.
(aaah. hate that I know all this stuff, but I’ve always had freakish recall for any number of useful and useless facts. lol!)

Helio, I always liked DC , I agree that him and Danny totally make you feel what they’re feeling through their music, which is why we are so drawn to them. I have never felt about any singer the way I feel about Danny. For me from the first time I heard him audition for the judges, I was totally drawn to him. I loved his voice and I rooted for him from then on. I also love guys with the growly, powerful voices, but still smooth. I just realized every singer or group I listen to or song I like the singers have a little growl in their voices. LoL But now noone compares to Danny. lol

I had read about Gordon Mote too though. The sad thing is, I tend to remember what I want at the time, and forget other things I really need to remember. I loved him performing with all the relatives and friends from his Milwaukee homecoming in NY, but I don’t think that is who is singing with him on this single. Really like it when they sing together at the end though.

Since Danny’s song will hopefully be played on the radio before too long I wanted to offer a little advice. Nothing annoys radio more than fans (especially Idol fans) requesting songs outside of their listening area. Many Idol fans have made this mistake in the past. It is fine to request Danny’s song as often as you like on your local radio stations. Danny is going to have to work really hard to get country radio to play his songs – he is going to have to earn their respect. Part of that hard work will include interviews with radio stations and hopefully a radio tour. Just thought I would throw that out there ahead of time.
I download songs all the time from Itunes but I have never gifted a song. I do plan to do some gifting of Danny’s song on Itunes for Christmas. My understanding is that it is quite easy – if anyone has done this please share with the rest of us how to do it. Thanks.

We have a morning duo on radio here, Gene and Julie, that play new things from U-Tube occasionally, and I did ask them to check it out…but I will take all your advice and not do that anymore. I don’t want to cause him more harm than good.

Stephanie, you may be right and the background vocalist is a studio musician who sings on many songs. I have not been listening to country music so that may be why I don’t recognize it. Danny is broadening my outlook on music.
I was referring to whan Mighty said he heard the single and it was a “powerful, emotional” ballad or something like that. Of course it could have just been chance, since we were all thinking his first song would be like that anyway.

Went to a Michael W. Smith concert Saturday night (BTW, I got to meet Phil Stacey who was there, he sang and his voice was INCREDIBLE)…Anyway, I chatted with a friend of mine who used to work at our station but now works at our local country station. She’s a huge American Idol fan and loved Danny too. She hasn’t received his single yet, but she’s going to get in touch with her RCA rep. Doing what I can to spread the word!

As for the “powerful, emotional ballad,” remember what Meredith Andrews said in my interview with her, about the song she heard Danny recording. She recalled the lyrics as being something like “I’ll never say good-bye.”

Hilary Scott, the female singer of Lady Antebellum, did background vocals, for “Do I”. It would be cool if she was the person doing background vocals on “It’s Only.” Then Danny would have 2 members of Lady Antebellum who wrote the song for him and the other member doing background vocals for him.
I haven’t really paid much attention to the background vocals for “It’s Only”, I’ve been more focused on Danny’s voice in the song. But I will listen to the song again and pay more attention to the background vocalist.

I didnt give my review that I was going to give about Danny’s third leaked track because I havent had the time and I am getting the chance to hear 3 more this week so I was going to review them all at the same time. I am still in awe of It’s Only! I still cry each time I listen. I don’t care what the cynics say, The song captures who Danny is and will touch a lot of people. Danny is a going to be Huge force in the music industry.
My hubby is on his way back to NOLA. He texted me and said he was playing Danny’ s JTTW and he asked me if I could put Danny’s new song on his MP3! Danny has made an impact on Ron because of his powerful message and his beautiful voice. Ron dislikes country music even more than I do, but he likes what Danny brings to it and I think there will many others like Ron who will find Danny’s music appealing.
