Claudia, David Cook looks smoking hot in that picture from last night. Whoa! I love the chest hairs and the scarf, and his sly little smile. He has beautiful skin too. Poor guy is losing all his hair though. What’s up with the return of the combover? LOL
Oh, why aren’t there any pictures of Danny? THERE SHOULD BE! He’s just as important as Adam. Well, never fear, there will be plenty of new pictures of Danny soon, and maybe some from last night will surface. I wonder what he was wearing.
I love the photo for today. Danny’s mom is so pretty. She has got to be in her late 50s at the very youngest, but she doesn’t look much more than 45 or so. Her figure is fantastic, especially for someone who’s had so many children. I wish I was that svelte, and I’ve only had two.

I’m confused. Danny was not at the MJ movie premiere last night. Adam and David Cook were the only Idols invited as far as I know. Danny was suppose to be at the media event at the Dream Center in LA to announced the new Sophia Youth Center. I went to bed early and haven’t read the posts from last night to see if there are any pictures from the DC event.
Glad to see Danny’s official facebook is up – that means they should be getting close to having his official website up. YAY! I plan on joining his new facebook and anything else they put up for him. I am already on facebook so it should be easy.

Danny did tweet that he was at the premiere of ‘This Is It’. That’s was cool. I actually do want to see that movie but it probably won’t come to Clarksville so have to wait for the DVD whenever that comes out. Anyway, saw the pics from the opening of the Sophia’s Youth Center, too. The one where they’re inside of the studio, I recognized Tyler James Williams from “Everybody Hates Chris”. That was cool that he was there. Other than that, it looked like a really fun event. So happy for Danny and SHF

Maybe it's just me, but I noticed the outfit that Danny was wearing, too. The plaid shirt, black vest combination. That must be his favorite thing to wear, I guess b/c it's the same outfit he wore at the MSMC concert, when he was at the JMM conference a couple of weeks back, and in a few pics that I've seen him in. Well…he looks comfortable, laidback, and very casual. I hope he at least changed for the premiere, though…lol…but he looks amazing in anything he wears. Laidback or not

I really like the cover art and press images RCA has up on Jake Owen, Danny’s label mate. Real natural and fun. They seem to show his joy. I hope they do something like those for Danny. Real relaxed. Nothing too posy or photo-shopped.

In response to Ellen’s post last night about youtube video Deb, Michelle and I created, I have gone into my youtube account and removed all comments (both good and bad – person who posted nasty comment also changed “thumbs up” comments from everyone in comments section to “thumbs down” and thus the 5 star rating has now gone to 3). Not getting on my soapbox about this, but enough hate already!

Is anyone else having a hard time looking at threads at mjs’s site? When I click on threads it shows error and doesn’t show comments.
First weeks sales for digital singles. Adam’s numbers are not so impressive. Both David’s singles sold over 100,000 their first week. I realize TFM is not Adam’s debut single from his album but it IS his first post idol single:

Did you get those numbers for mjs site? Do you know if that site is now working better? I have had a hard time accessing threads on that site today. I can’t see comments in the sales threads or other threads on the first page of that site.

I’m surprised Adam’s sales aren’t better also, strictly by how rabid his fan base is; he has over 200,000 twitter followers (maybe they aren’t all lovers of his music?), plus, you would think some of them are buying multiple copies!
I think TFM will prob. do better once movie is out, it really hasn’t been advertised has it? Altho, the name Adam Lambert has certainly been put out there a lot.
Maybe people just aren’t buying music right now? Can’t really blame the recession; a single is only $1.29. People spend twice that on coffee, fast food.

I don’t really blame low single sales on the economy either. Heck $1.29 is around the price of a regular size candy bar in a convience store. If a lot of people wanted to buy a song they would. Maybe a lot of people just don’t like the song? Maybe the low sales could also be because the song hasn’t really gotten any radio airplay. Even though Adam got a decent amount of media coverage for the song.
So what do you guys think we might can expect for Danny’s sales, since Adam’s sales are considerably lower than a lot of people predicted? And because Kris’s sales are very low, especially for an Idol winner.

FOGS, I think that is why there has been so much angst for Danny’s single; if the winner and the most pimped have not had great sales, what does that mean for the 3rd place finisher?
Plus, Danny’s single comes at a time when the market is flooded with Idol albums and singles.
I almost wonder if they will wait until December because of that? There has been no media push for Danny yet and Nov. is almost here! Has me thinking they are laying low until all the hoopla dies down from the others.
I am confident Danny’s album will do well; I think most of his fans are album type people. The single-? I’m hoping it will sell to Danny fans because we will have no other Danny music until March and because what has been put out so far by Idols hasn’t been that great.
These single sales numbers are quite interesting. If I like an artist I tend to buy the whole album and don’t buy individual songs. It could well be that lot of Danny’s fans are waiting for the album.
Pam, I really hope that you get to meet Danny on Saturday. It’s just unbeliavable that for some of you it’s actually possible to meet Danny not just once but many times, while us overseas fans can only dream of meeting him.

I can definitely understand the angst regarding Danny’s single. Being that Kris and Adam aren’t doing as well, as a lot people thought they would, I can definitely understand concern about Danny not doing well. Because he is a 3rd place finisher and because he appears to have a much smaller online fanbase than Kris and Adam do. Even though I think that his offline fanbase is pretty big.
It would be interesting if Danny ended up doing decently the week his single came out. If he can get at least 30,000 downloads or close to that, those would be decent sales for a new country artist. And could help create buzz around his album.
I think that Danny’s label will still release Danny’s music in November. Because that is typically when a lot of music is released and purchased.
I don’t think that Adam and Kris having albums released is going to affect Danny’s sales that much. Because I think that most of their fans wouldn’t buy Danny’s music, regardless of when he released it.
I hope that Danny has a decent single, because that single is going to have to carry him and his fans to March. If he has a decent single that will carry him for amount of time.
FOGS, IMO her site has gone haywire over the Lambert cover art controversy. I did get in this morning. She literally had like 1,500 comments alone from people just posting what they want to say about the cover then. Lots of them are posting counter links with their comments, as well. Looks like it is crashing from too much traffic.
Have to say, I found the lack of support over there to be somewhat shocking, and this coming from a crowd that already knows Adam’s flare for the drama! The cover art isn’t my thing, but if I was a true fan, I’d want to give the music a listen anyway. Even I am curious about what he will offer up!
Yet, some were now saying they won’t even purchase the album. It is just crazy. It’s his album and his career… not theirs!
If you ask me, some of these people are more concerned about whether or not Adam can produce the stardom results they’ve all prophesied. It is as he has let them down, because they assume that the non-AI crowd may not be interested enough in his cover art to have a listen.

FOGS, its hard to imagine Danny not having a good single; with his vocal talent and voice it would have to be a pretty sucky song to not sound great! Hopefully those Nashville songwriters have done well by him.

I haven’t gotten a chance to read through the thread about Adam’s album cover. I will try to read through that thread later on. So there are a lot of negative comments about Adam’s album cover over there?
I am surprised to hear that some people were saying they wouldn’t be purchasing his album cover because of the way it looks. There are usually a lot of Adam fans on mjsbigblog, and they praise just about everything he does.
I don’t care for his cover, but if I was a fan/liked his music enough to purchase it, I would regardless of his album cover.
I think that it is an interesting speculation about people worried about Adam letting them down. A lot of his fans and the media have built him up so high, it’s going to be extremely hard for him to live up to the expectations they have placed on him.
Danny is going to blow this market wide open, to the degree that people cannot believe it could possibly be so!
He is going to put out the killer single of the year!
He is going to make the ladies swoon, and every man wish he had his swagger!
That is my position and I am sticking to it!

Ladies, I see you talking about album/single sales. I really feared about Danny cuz even though he is a very marketable artist, he doesn’t have many online fans that are willing to buy his music on itunes. I have an itunes card here and Im willing to buy his single many times but that is just not supposed to be. a true statistic of album sales is given/awarded by the record label itself. Lets just hope for our Danny to exceed other people’s expectations. I know he will… <3

Maryann, I think that is a valid concern that the non AI crowd won’t be attracted to that album cover, but whatever happened to “Adam is Adam and is brave, edgy, etc”. Are you sure they are really fans agonizing over it and not trolls sowing dissension?
When I questioned why the angst over there over the Itunes sales (I thought peaking #9 wasn’t bad for that song) they fired back, saying its not fans who were worried.
But controversy is good for sales and publicity. Album cover people prob. know exactly what they’re doing. I don’t think its bad, just I wish they would stop changing his appearance so much on things like the porn shots and this cover. He’s a good looking guy most of the time, show us the true Adam!

FOGGs – the real problem about Adam’s album cover art is about its market appeal. one of the articles I saw said, its concern is about the heterosexual fans of Adam, will they like to hold that album cuz of its looks or will they be ashamed of it or kinda embarrased about having it?

I am concerned that Danny might have low Itune sales because of what seems to be a very small online fanbase too. I think that if a lot of his offline fans were online, they would purchase his single.
If Danny has low sales the first week his single is out, I don’t think that it won’t because the bulk of his online fans didn’t buy his music, but that it will be because he doesn’t have a lot of online fans period.
I hope that Danny has a lot more online fans than people realize who don’t post that much, but will purchase his single the first week it comes out.

I think Adam will be fine. Unless his album really is not good (and, don’t shoot me, I don’t think it will be as good as everyone thinks. I’ve said it before, I don’t think he translates half as good on recorded media) he can’t miss with all the hype. He will be debuting his single on the AMA awards, how much better publicity can you get! I think he’ll do great and his fans should stop worrying for the short term. They can worry in a year, when it will become apparent if he has staying power.

I think that Adam will end up being fine as well. I don’t think that he will do quite as well as a lot of Internet/media have predicted him to do. But I do think that he will end up doing pretty well for himself.

I will definitely buy Danny’s first single too. I think that a lot of his online fans will. And I think there is a good chance that a lot of his offline fans will too, once the song is released to the general public gets things like a music video, and radio airplay to help it.

I’ve be watching how this country engine rolls. It is quite different to the pop rock scene. New artist are properly introduced to the established country fanbase, and country fans seek out new artist within the genre of music they are dedicated to enjoying. I believe it to be way less cut throat, if you get my meaning.
I also think they know how to promote their stars, and their star’s messages. It is a much more personal thing, and connection to the artist. They really like to share the details of their artist’s lives. What motivates them – where they came from – what they are truly about.
For this reason alone, I think Danny is going to be embraced by the country fans. How could anyone not love him? Such a good man, with a huge heart, and stunning voice.

Hello again!!! I see a lot of talk is about itunes sales, again, and Adam’s album cover. I’ll put my two cents in on the itunes sales first.
Honestly, I know things like that matters to record labels and such but I don’t see what type of fanbase that Danny has would affect that when his single comes out. True, his online fanbase may not be huge as Kris and Adam’s, but his fans who aren’t online is possibly bigger than the online ones. Forgive me if I’m not that informed about the amount of sales on Itunes but I don’t really buy music off there in the first place. I haven’t since last summer. What I’m trying to say is that I’m not worried about how Danny’s single is gonna do on Itunes, Amazon, whatever b/c it’s not that much of a big deal to me. What is a big deal to me is how much I love and appreciate Danny as an upcoming artist, person, etc. Whatever happens, happens is the way I see it. I’m not saying that I don’t expect too much from him b/c I do and I want him to have a successful career. I just think that some of us are getting worried over nothing when he’s just in the process of everything just taking off. Let’s just be patient, which I know is hard for some of us when it comes to Danny, but we gotta have faith and know that whatever he puts out is gonna be amazing regardless of how well it does on any of the online charts.

Now on Mr. Lambert’s album cover. I’ve already said what I thought about it and that’s that. Not my particular thing but, hey, Adam’s can’t please everyone just like Danny or anyone else can’t. After what he tweeted about it today, I think that it makes more sense coming from him why that’s his album cover.
He said to the ones that don’t get it, oh well…at least I got your attention. I think that’s what he looks for in the first place even though he may not admit it or not. Hello my beautiful sweet ladies!!! My Gokey sisters from the heart!! Here is my 2 cents regarding Danny and his Itune sales!! FOGS as much as I love you and admire your brilliant intelligence, I totally disagree that Danny’s fan base on line is small; considering the minimal amount of media attention he has beeen getting, his twitter fanbase is phenomenal!! you have to remember Kris and Adam are addressing a different population from Danny; however, just because Danny has less fans on twitter than Kris and ADam, does not mean that Danny’s fanbase does not have access to online information; I believe that a lot of Danny’s fans fall in the category like Hannele and Ellen, who do not care to be caught up in the blogasphere, but they are very engaged in the process, they are anticipating the release of Danny’s single just like we are, they have accessibility to obtain his Single at will. I lurked online for a long time before I joined on here, and I always had access to online information even though I was not on twiitter ( shirl and Cheryl had to convince me). The twitter is actually misleading because some of your established artist twitter fans are less than Danny’s( Rascall Flatts), however, their fan base is wide and have access to online information if need be. A lot of people do not care for bloggs but it does not mean they are clueless and can’t access information at will ( online).
The assumptions is, if they are not online or connected to a blogg, then they are not aware of Danny or online information and will only purchase Cds or albums from the store, this is misleading; Danny’s prototype ( fanbase) does not care for bloggs but they are completely aware of Danny because they lurk a lot, they are intelligent and capable of accessing his itunes. Long story short? Danny has a large fanbase not connectted to bloggs, they are fully aware of him and have access to online infromation; They are Ready, Willing and able to purchase his itunes!! Love you FOGS!!

Danielle I agree with you completely. I am not going to worry about Danny’s sales numbers. I believe Danny is about so much more than his music. Danny is going to be a success as an artist no matter how many cd’s he sells. He is going to be working as an artist for a very long time to come. But, more importantly Danny will be a success at so much more than just music. Danny has proven that his goal in life is not just about music, but about having an impact on peoples lives in a humanitarian way. I believe he willl measure his success on how much he is able to change lives through his music. As long as Danny is able to use his music (whether it is the money earned from it, or the message in the music) for the purpose of changing lives he will be considered successful in his own eyes and definately in my eyes. More and more Danny proves that he is committed to something bigger than just the music. I know some people will be reading stats and making comparison between Danny and other idols or other artists, but there is no way to measure the kind of success Danny will have. Those people will not be able to count the number of lives that Danny will change through his music and SHF.

Just looked at the pics from the DC/Sophia’s Heart Youth Center event last night. I think I had posted earlier that Danny’s worn the same outfit at other events and in other pics as well but I noticed that the plaid shirt is black and white instead of the yellowish/blue plaid shirt that he normally wears w/the vest. Come to think of it, the vest was a different color, too. Black, instead of blue. Call me colorblind, I guess…lol
But just thought I’d point that out anyway. Whatever Mr. Gokey wears, he’ll always look super-hot to me!!!

Cheryl- I agree with what you’re saying, except I think sales do matter, for the simple reason that Danny needs an audience and a label behind him. I only care about his sales because I want his record label to keep, promote and get him great writers, producers, etc. And, unfortunately, all of that comes down to the almighty $$- sales. But of course DAnny will be a huge success as a human being, no matter what happens. There are many who may sell a lot and be famous (Brittney) but have failed at being a significant, moral being.
Latrece- Interesting outlook. I think we were using Itunes sales during AI to gauge this. But you have a unique, optimistic outlook as usual and I hope you are correct
FOGS- Love that BJ song! Very upbeat and rockin; could completely see Danny singing stuff like this! Gets me excited for country! They were twangy, but the song was so good I didn’t mind as much. I do like a lot of country instrumentals, like this song featured, violins, fiddles, good guitar.
GG- I would love a duet, but seems like they don’t usually do that on a first album, but this is country so you never know!
Danni- I know what you mean, I’m not into the competitive sales thing, but like I said to Cheryl, the reason I care is because sales talk when keeping your label and having the resources to back you.
As far as the Adam drama regarding his photo album, I think some of his fans are disappointed in how Adam’s image is increasing being portrayed more feminine than edgy, rocker, sexy and exotic type of look! all gay males do not necessarily wear makeup and that is their preference. I believe some of the people who are complaining are probably gay!! we can’t lunp all gay people in the same category, their taste varies, just as straight people’s taste varies. I believe some of his fans still wanted to see some testosterone somewhere in all the mix of exoticism. I think his fans adore his erotic and exotic unique look but I don’t they expected for him to loose his element of manliness? BUT I don’t want to see us Danny fans fighting each other when his SIngle comes out!!

The really sad part was that I came within minutes of meeting Danny at the Milwaukee concert and was told he didn’t have time to come out, so I left and later found out he came out right after I left. That was really hard to take. So I’m still hoping too.

Pjgvet, I did meet a few ihrt ladies. I don’t remember which ones, but I did see all the rest towards the front of the line. I wasn’t in a bad place in line. I had actually been there from 3 pm and against my better judgement I listened to a lady next to me that said the security guards said it was too late for him to come out. I should have just waited since I had already been there that long. It would have been worth being late for the concert. Anyway maybe Danny will be at Summerfest next summer and I’ll have another chance. I still had a great time at the Concert.

Latrece, I agree with the culture clash thing, although I guess I don’t put Adam at the other end of it (but I know some do). I just think that many people are very irate over the mixing of politics and religion in our country and they are taking it out on DAnny. That is my theory on why he gets so much hate- he doesn’t hide that he is a man of faith and so many people attribute characteristics such as being sanctimonious and hypocritical and arrogant to him (unfortunately because that has proven true before with some self professed individuals of faith). I could be completely off base; but I think that is a huge reason he gets flack. They hate him because they say he’s judgemental when it is they who are.

About Adam’s cover. Why would anyone be surprised that Adam is showing his feminine side? There were a number of pics on the internet with him in women’s clothes. I believe that the Glam pic shows who Adam is and he was holding back quite a bit on AI because he was told to. I celebrate that he can now be who he really is. That album cover is perfect for his vision of being a GlamRock star. I think that when Adam sang Ring of Fire, that song was truly closer to what he really is all about. Even though it was a country song, he changed it into a kind of overdramatic campy song. He got a lot of criticism for is and it was after that when he started dressing with less makeup and wearing his hair differently. I remember feeling kind of bad for them that they were trying to make him more “tradiitonal” instead of being the creative artist he really is.

I got within 3 feet of Danny and became MUTE. I could not speak. I just took out my camera and started taking pictures. All I have to say about Adam is that I respect and admire creativity no matter how far out there it may be. Cheryl-I agree w/you about him being too held back on the show. Now that the show’s over and done with, he can be himself as an artist and as a person. I never really had a problem w/either one. But people who do or don’t like Adam( I’m one of the people who do like him) are just gonna have to get used to the fact that he’s his own person as an individiual and as an artist and he’s gonna do whatever he wants just like all the other ‘Idols’ are gonna do. Latrece and Pam I do think that many of the Danny haters dislike him because of the religious/political divides in our country. Pam, like you said there is a segment of the religious right that is extreme, hypocrytical and narrow minded and sadly it creates this belief among some people that ALL religious people are the same. So, people who are angry at the religious right are angry at anybody who declares their faith, as Danny has, and they perceive them as being narrow-minded.
I am always saddened by people who conclude that people of faith all think alike. Although I am a person with spiritual beliefs, I am not a particularly religious person in the traditional sense of belonging to an organized religion and attending church every week. However my husband is. I would consider my husband very religiuos – been a member of the same church for all of his life, tithes, attends church when he travels, reads the bible everyday, etc.. BUT he is so far from what is viewed as the religious right. He is very very liberal in his political beliefs. He, much like Danny, believes in forgiveness, love, community, humanity, second chances, that we are all God’s children and no one is less than any other in God’s eyes, that we have an obligation to the weakest among us etc. My husband is NOT in any way anti-gay (has relatives who are openly gay), he believes in a woman’s right to choose, he is against the death penalty, he is anti-war, he believes in science and evolution, etc..
I say this because those people who hate Danny should be more open minded themselves and realize that you cannot paint religious people with a broad brush – there is a broad spectrum of religious beliefs and it is unfair to speculate where any one person lies within that spectrum. I think Danny is well aware that much of the negative feelings people express about him comes from their belief that because Danny is a man of faith they know what he stands for. The very same narrow-mindedness that they believe Danny has, is what they themselves have.

You can’t really compare Adam’s single to Carrie’s Temporary Home. Carrie’s debut single for her Play-on album, Cowboy Cassanova, sold 110,000+ the first week. These last few weeks before her album drops on Nov 3rd, her label is releasing a song a week on Itunes as promotion for her album. Temporary home is not her single. Although Adam’s sales are solid, my point is that they are not extraordinary as one would expect with all the hoopla surrounding Adam.
I am curious how things will play out for Danny. Although I agree that Danny does not have much of a presence on blogs I do think he has a lot of fans on twitter. I am hoping many of those who follow him on Twitter will download his single from Itunes, even if they have never downloaded music before. If you are a Danny fan, why would you wait 4 months for his album and not buy his single. I actually prefer to download individual songs from Itunes as opposed to buying CD’s but I suspect I am in the minority as a Danny fan. Danny has been very good at communicating through twitter – one of the smartest things he did right after he left the show was to establish his twitter account and start tweeting. Hopefully he can use twitter to get the info out about his single on Itunes.

Dannielle I obviously am very curious about what Danny is going to produce musically, but I am just as curious about Adam. I love that Adam appears to be reveling in this new freedom to express his Glamrock roots. I am one of those people who believes Adam will have longevity. He has a unique talent and it shines when he is on stage. I think it might have been Pam who said Adam may be much better on stage than on records. I think that may be true (but I do believe he will sell records as well). Adam is a performer more than anything. You can tell he is in his element when he is onstage. I think he is one of those unique people who is bigger than life and belongs on stage or on the big screen. I truly am curious about where his career will lead him.
Danny has a uniqueness about him in that he draws people to him through the purity of his voice and the raw emotion that he projects. He makes people truly feel the same emotions and he can literally bring people to tears. I think it was Kara who said Danny has the rare talent of making people feel emotion. I know I have very rarely cried listening to a singer, but I have with Danny. You cannot deny that kind of talent. I personally think that some of the people who dislike Danny dislike him because they are uncomfortable feeling strong emotions, so they resent that Danny makes them feel something when he sings. I also think people like Rickey, who I think is an emotional guy and doesn’t mind showing his emotions, heard Danny live, they were drawn to him and started liking him and appreciating his talent more.

Cheryl, that was well put about Adam, Dee,I agree too- he definitely toned down his look after ROF, much less “gay”. His cover doesn’t appeal to me, but it is who he is, its surprising its even controversial (like I said, I think too many of his fans have another vision of him like Elvis or something). He loves dress up and is campy to the hilt. I really thought he sold out with the Details lay out, but this cover redeems him as an artist in my eyes.

Lizzy Point well taken on the Carrie vs. Adam. but also TFM is not Adam’s first single. He has yet to release that, so it is hard to determine what his sales will be like. Also, Carrie is an established star and Adam is not. Carrie has had maybe 4 albums. This is Adam’s first album and so you would have to expect that he would not sell as many as Carrie, but in his first song (not his first single) he surpassed Carrie’s numbers for the first week of a single from her album. What I would be curious to see is how Adam’s numbers compare to any of the previouos idols’ on their debut songs (once again remembering TFM is not even his first single). I don’t know how much Carrie’s first single off her very first album sold, or Kelly’s, David Cooks, etc… That would be interesting to see.

I know Adam’s fans always think it is a slam (because Adam doesn’t want to do Broadway anymore), but I really think that is where he would shine; he loves dress up, acting and singing and has the power to wow people with his performances. I just think that is where he may eventually wind up because I think he shines that way so much more than just vocally as in records. He could act too. But maybe his album will change my mind!
Danny, ah, sorry to disagree with those here who think he could act, but I don’t see it; I agree with Cheryl that it is the pure, unique, soulfulness of his voice, not even his visual performances that get me. I think he does connect with audiences in a major way, but I think its his realness and enthusiasm (there’s no artifice about him) that does that and I just think it would be too hard for him to “act”- he’s too spontaneous and real!

Cheryl-Danny’s always brought so many emotions for me when he sings. Everytime I hear his voice, it just brings a huge smile to my face. It’s a pleasant feeling that I get when I listen to his voice. Very soothing, sensual, soulful, all of that. I’ve never been so passionate about a singer, never the less, a singer from ‘Idol’. He just may be the only contestant that does that for me. Besides the show, he’ll be his own force to reckon with, I believe, in the country music world. I’m so looking forward to what his future will bring in music, life, etc.

As for Adam, I have no doubt that he’s gonna take his career to places that he’s probably never even thought that he could take them. He’s performer and he’s good at that. And as a performer, he gonna give his fans(the ones who don’t flip-out over ridiculous stuff) what they want. Like I said before, I respect people who want to show their creativity no matter how out there it is. I really do like Adam for his creativity and how he chooses to express that. he’s not gonna make everyone happy just as Danny’s not gonna make everyone happy. I, to, look forward to what the future will bring for Mr. Lambert as well.

Pam I used to think Danny’s spontaneous and playful characteristics would make him capable of acting because he is not afraid to be childlike and free of spirit. BUT, I now agree with you that Danny would probably have a difficult time acting because of those charactaristics. He would stray from script, he would not be able to be able to stay in character because he is so spontaneous. It’s like his singing – each time he sings the same song it sounds different. Can you imagine him being disciplined enough to play the same character on a stage every night and try to say the same lines every night? I don’t think he could do it! Adam on the other hand is so well trained that he can sound exactly the same every single time he performs a song.

One can call someone fat, or a douchebag, or even claim that they are pimping their dead wife, as these can all be viewed as opinion. (Not that I recommend any of that — it’s all nasty, and we saw with Smartie how interesting karma can be.) But to deliberately seek out a video of a person you profess to hate, for the sake of posting a nasty comment to upset people who like the person that you hate? That’s like pulling the wings off a butterfly! And to call someone a wife killer is generally not opinion, but a representation of fact. When untrue (as is the case with Danny), the statement is libel and actionable in a court of law.

Here’s my take on the Adam/Danny controversy. I think it’s true that both he and Danny get a lot of hate because they have somehow come to symbolize opposite ends of the political-religious spectrum, with Adam representing the “liberal left” and Danny representing the “religious right.” I think that’s sad, because it’s based on stereotypes and pigeonholing people, when in fact many of Adam’s fans may be conservative and many of Danny’s (like myself, for instance) could be labeled liberal. It also assumes these men subscribe to a particular political agenda when in fact we don’t know for certain what their true beliefs are. I for one am a fan of both Adam and Danny (Danny much more though, because I like his style and voice more) and think both of them bring something unique to the table and will be forces to be reckoned with in music. Danny has become a symbol for intolerance and homophobia, when he has said nothing homophobic and some of his heroes are certainly anything but conservative (Obama, MLK Jr.) I find it laughable when I’m labeled a Bible-thumping homophobe just because Danny is my favorite, when in reality I’m no such thing. Conversely, I know some religious Christians who are Adam fans. People need to put aside their culture war differences and just listen to the music because that is really the only thing we should be judging them for.

Couple quick comments before taking dog for walk
- Danny’s twitter fanbase is only slightly smaller than Kris’s, and it took Kris forever to finally catch up to Danny’s follower count even with the winner PR/media attention Kris was getting all summer long. To me that suggests Danny’s twitter following is stronger in its interest in Danny.
- I would totally love to see Danny do a duet on his album. He also could be featured in someone else’s album as a duet partner.
- Danny’s online fans may not be as visible as those for Adam/etc who congregate at mj’s. I think they may be active in big numbers in other places though, like facebook, church sites, etc. And even if he has fewer online fans than Kris or Adam, he probably has a bigger number by far than most country acts.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again…I think putting Danny in the country genre was one of the wisest decisions EVER.
Not sure how his single will do, but I think in the long run, once Danny gets a foothold with country fans, they will make him a huge star…and the cross-over appeal will just be icing on the cake.
When it all comes down to it, we love the SOUND of Danny’s VOICE. I’m not exaggerating when I say I would listen to him sing the phone book. And I will plop down my money to hear that voice.
Once during the season, Paula said that Danny has one of those voices that when you hear it, you immediately know it’s him. A voice like that doesn’t come along every day. He is unique, and I believe he had the hand of God on his life. He has the ability to reach out and grab people emotionally. I truly believe he’ll be a star!

Cindy, you are so right. Everytime I fret about the sales of Danny’s first single and have doubts about how successful he will be, I just listen to What Hurts the Most. If Danny’s first single is anything like that song I think country music fans are going to love him. I have been listening to a lot of country music lately and there are some really crappy songs out there. I don’t even like Rascal Flatts versions of WHTM or MY Wish near as good as Danny’s. I had been saying since May (isn’t that right Pjgvet) that Danny should go country. I am really excited for his single.
As to the cultural difference between Adam and Danny. I never thought Danny was the Hollywood type. I don’t think Kris is either. However, Adam is one of their own and he fits right in. I don’t know or care about Danny’s political views but I do believe that Danny is socially conservative and I have alway thought Nashville was a better fit for him.

Hi Deb! You and I are so in agreement. Mark Bright’s involvement, the success of former idols even as un-remarkable as Kellie Pickler and Bucky Covington (sorry if you’re a Kellie or Bucky fan!
, the loyalty of country fans and their total acceptance of people of faith—put that all together with Danny’s crazy talent and appeal, and I can’t help but think it’s looking good for him.
If he had tried to go R & B or pop, he may have gotten a little lost in the shuffle (case in point: Elliott Yamin, who I love and who should’ve been a huge star.) But in country…and especially with the modern country that can embrace soulfulness and cross-over ability…the sky’s the limit for Danny, IMHO.

Even though I’m not a huge country music fan, I agree going country was a wise decision. It’s an easier market to break into for a white guy who is on the shy side of 30. R&B would have been much harder for Danny to break into, since he’s probably “too white” and “too old,” and also today’s R&B has very strong rap/hip hop overtones and I just can’t see Danny doing well in that genre. Unfortunately blue eyed soul hasn’t sold well since the 1980s. Danny could do pop, but he probably isn’t seen as “hip” enough for that, so country was the best way to go, and they seem to be a more welcoming market for newcomers than either pop or r&b. Rock? Just…no. Not that Danny couldn’t sing rock, because I’m sure he could (he has the raspy, powerful vocals common in rockers) but his heart is so not that of a rocker. It just wouldn’t work.

boy do I agree with that look what happened to Elliot I was so hoping he would not go R and B..it just isnt a great area in music right now..I love Elliot too but there is not a big demand for that music and country is taking the world by storm right now!!! Personally yeah Kellie and Bucky are not my favorites but its amazing how they got out there too..But Carrie is and she is super awesome..vocally I think she is the best in contyr music but I like Jennifer Nettles she can really project too..And Taylor (dont hate on me) in my opinion is NOT that good of a singer I get her appeal though shes young beautiful and writes GREAT music..!

Danny sold almost ~15,000 copies of YASB, and nearly 10,000 of WHTM even though he wasn’t getting much press, and this was months after he did WHTM on the show.
iTunes sale figures from the period during the AI8 season have never been released, just those from right around the finale and weeks afterward. We have no idea how many copies of WHTM Danny may have sold back when he originally did it on the show. It’s pretty impressive it was still charting that many weeks later. At MSMC he said WHTM was his bestselling iTunes release.

I agree with that..They never wanted to show good sales figures on Danny..or good news about him..but I always watched the charts too..I was always hoping he would beat Adam and Kris in downloads!!! on Itunes..and rickey would announce them and Danny was first place only once and it was when he did What hurts the most! rickey had such a hard time posting that!! I remember he had to literally choke it out!!!LOL but he added something about the christian worship leader/preacher or something to that effect about it too to make people start to hate again…I remember that..! He always would add something every week to feed the haters!!! i know rickey enjoyed it at the time!! because he said one time I have the most people on my site I have ever had and it was all danny lovers or Danny haters commenting back and forth and also fighting about Adam and Danny every week!!!! I’ve never “followed” @jambajim, just lurk via the RSS feeds. For someone who seems not sure he likes Danny, he sure mentions him quite a bit. I think overall though, he’s a lot more gaga over Kris than Adam. He was making fun of Adam and his album cover yesterday in another #jimismean tweet.

Deb, I didn’t know that Rickey had any iTunes stats, I’ve only seen them through mj’s where they usually get them from Brian Mansfield or someone else who supposedly has a source for the verified data.
Danny was very popular throughout the AI season, I’d be quite surprised if he didn’t have good sales especially where he did songs that were a little newer and more well-known by the audience. (Although despite the rap on Danny that he chose older songs, Adam’s songs were about as old or older. Overall, Danny’s songs may have been more recent in his tourset than Adam’s.)

I am not a huge country fan but I do like some and have been listening to it a lot lately since I knew Danny was going country. I like Carrie Underwood a lot and have bought a lot of her music. I just think he she has a beautiful voice. I really like Lady Antebellum (sp) and am going to buy the single “Need You Now” from Itunes. I love the song. I like all of Darius Rucker’s songs since he has gone country. I love his voice. I also like Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland I believe. I watched a concert one of their concert’s on CMT and really like her. I like Rascal Flatts and have for quite some time. I can listen to Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney but some of the other male country singers are too twangy for me and their songs are too hokey. I think Danny will be a breath of fresh air just like Darius Rucker was. I do like Taylor Swift’s songs (she is a great songwriter) but not crazy about her voice but she is HUGE. I was just checking Itunes and she has something like 7 songs in the top 20. Adam’s song is down to 70 something.

Lizzy — Read your 9:21 p.m. post & googled Darius Rucker. Lo and behold, he’s the one who sings “It Won’t Be Like This For Long.” Heard that song on the radio and liked it. Not sure whether I heard it on a country station or as a crossover elsewhere. Not gonna lie — don’t like country — don’t listen to country. But I have at least been doing the radio-equivalent of channel-surfing. Funny thing is, I never liked the vocals of Hootie & The Blowfish — got on my nerves! But Darius sounds very authentic as a country artist. So I can like individual country songs, just still not sure about a whole album of them.

Carrie Underwood – have liked some of her songs on tv, never wanted to buy one though. she’s more country diva-ish than I like
Lady Antebellum, just got their CD. I like the one song “run to you” (sth like that), still deciding on the others. They are more twangy overall than I was expecting
Darius Rucker — like the sound / look I’ve seen on his videos, haven’t bought anything yet though
Jennifer Nettles, yes Sugarland. I have their CDs and also the Bon Jovi CD where she does that song with them.
Rascal Flatts — always liked pretty well, never bought until Danny made me do it this year. Do like everything on a greatest hits collection, nothing on their last CD made me wild though. I agree with the comment above, Danny’s voice is much more enjoyable, and probably more powerful than Gary Levox from RF.
Keith Urban — nah, don’t get it.
Brad Paisley — cute guy, seems really nice. Have a few iTunes, no full CDs though.
Kenny Chesney — seems like fun to see live, never bought anything

The song is written by Muse and the title is Soaked. Which to me is one hella stupid name for a song! It’s another big ballad type of song, and Adam is kinda drowned out in it but I really do like this song. I’m a big fan of interesting chord structure shifting from major to minor keys (flatted 7ths and all that) so I am digging this.
I still don’t think this is his new single but I could be wrong….it’s a good song for a single, very powerful. Feedback????

Hey everyone…had a horrible day at work, but doing good now.
I want to comment on the youtube video situation. All of the videos that I upload are set to have me approve comments that any viewers post, however when I checked this video this morning (after reading Ellen’s comment from last night), somehow it was hacked into and ratings went down and “thumbs down” symbols were showing. For those of you that have asked, the comment that was posted was posted by someone with the name “ertyuytgfrdrthgfd” and it said “you know you need a life when you write songs about a fat wife killer’s tweets”. This person appears to have no life, as he/she has also left nasty comments on a Michael Sarver video as well.

MJ just posted snippets of all Kris’ songs from his album. I’m not liking any of the songs – guess that is why I didn’t vote for him. He has different producers on his songs. I wonder if Mark Bright is going to produce Danny’s entire album or just some of the songs.

I can’t figure jambajim out. Didn’t he write that big apology article at the end of the season saying he was ashamed of himself for hating on Danny? Or was that someone else from MTV?
He can be quite snarky/funny when he is witty but when he is just plain mean/stuck on stupid (like when he said Danny can’t sing well either when making fun of his chicken tweets) he isn’t humorous.
