Ellen- I went to bed while you were all still discussing Danny’s physical appeal last night, but just wanted to say I know what you mean about Danny’s “everyday” appeal. I actually read a comment from a reporter about that; how he is fascinating, and guys like him because he gives them the hope that “everyday” guys like them have a chance, ha!
I think part of it is that he comes from working class roots, not glamorous job or professional voice training whatsoever. So he truly is kind of a Cinderella story.
Physically, he is not “pretty boy” or “metrosexual” handsome like Kris or Adam. He is more “naturally” attractive- just good hair, pretty eyes, great kind smile, nice skin- no fancy dental work, haircut or even clothes (he’s starting to wear some nice clothes now, but still understated). Plus his personality just shouts, “I’m the guy next door and I’d love to hang out with you, play practical jokes and of course grab something good to eat!”

Work is having a tight “grip” on me also today and I don’t have much time to dream in Dannyland, even though I would much prefer to be here than in the meeting rooms etc.
I’m so happy for the new videos and have watched them over and over again. I hope we get to hear more news from Danny how the recording session is going. I’m also really happy about Mark Bright being the producer for Danny’s album. He really deserves to have good people helping him to build his career.

Hi Latrece, miss talking to you! Why do we have responsibilities, which take us away from Dannyland! Don’t like that at all. So, you are still watching the videos from the concert. I’m watching them every morning before leaving for work and when I get back home in the evening. My boyfriend can’t stand the poor sound quality, but he keeps his mouth shut after I told him that is what he has to live with until I get better quality videos!

Hannele – well he mentioned it on one interview on the AI website. They are rehersing for the tour when the interview was made. He said he wanted to write a book about his life, about his triumph and struggles and everything but he said its down the road and the book is writing as he speaks. I don’t know but if he has a book, I will totally buy it.

GG, what’s this about books about Adam and Danny? Are they writing their own biographies, or is someone else? This is news to me!
It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if Danny and Carrie toured together, since they are both being produced by Mark Bright, and that would be a HUGE boost to Danny’s career. Even if he opened for Carrie, imagine all the new fans he would gain through her! But I would also want him to do some solo shows too, at small venues, similar to the one at MSMC, for that more intimate feel…and cheaper prices. They might work things out so he can do both.
Danny’s star is rising fast.
GG, saw your post. That would be awesome if Danny wrote a book. He’s a very good writer–I remember his blog posts on Myspace from early in the season. You’d never know he could write from his tweets though, LOL.
I bet it would make #1 on the NYT bestseller list.

Helio – Well according to Danny in one of his interviews before AI tour, someday he will write a book about his life. I don’t know if that is still on going but if it is, I will the first person to buy that book even though Im not a fan reading biographies.
Well I think Adam’s book is set to release on October 14 I think. Well my little sister is so hyped about that cuz she said that book is released on her birthday! Whatever! haha

Stephanie, Danny’s book would sell big time. He is such an inspiration to so many people and because of the things that he has experienced in his life he is convincing in what he says.

There is something extraordinarily special about this man. It is more then his positive attitude, immense heart and good looks. Do I dare say, that it is the manner in which he lives his life with true conviction that makes him so attractive to me?

Helio, heh. That was circulated earlier, I think Brian Mansfield put it on his blog and Danny RT’ed as pretty funny.
I agree with you, Maryann; that is part of Danny’s appeal, and really comes through in a lot of his songs and in the way he relates to the audiences in the spoken parts of his sets. Even though it’s sad that she passed, I think it’s also a very attractive quality that Danny was so obviously head over heels devoted to Sophia throughout their more than 10-year relationship/marriage. I don’t know a lot of people in my family anyway, where that’s the case.

Maryann, I love that song you posted. It is kind of rock-ish, which I like, because I’m not into hardcore country at all. Funny her last name is Lambert, I wonder if there’s any relation to Adam. I think she looks quite a bit like Kristy Lee Cook. She sounds a lot better though.
So Dannys’ possibly inauthentic clothing is up to $500 on Ebay and may go for much more with 3 days left of the auction, and there’s a market for Danny-look-alike sperm. Those two things are proof he’s becoming huge.

Hi!! sorry i’m have been very busy because of college =( how’s everything going?!
I’m going to read what you posted in a moment, Maryann, but I wanted to say I just finished watching a few of Danny’s MSMC performances again, and I’m blown away by Life is a Highway. He rocked it, and I’ve never seen such a bunch of happy people in my life. Danny looks he’s been performing all his life, and I love the way he introduces his band members (there sure are a lot of them!) right in the middle, while they keep playing, and then he resumes where he was with such ease, complete with dance moves that look MUCH smoother than they used to. His guitarist cracks me up–he’s constantly smiling and jumping up and down. They all seem SO happy to be working with Danny! I didn’t even realize tears of joy were running down my cheeks until the video was finished because I’m just so ridiculously happy for him I can barely stand it.
Someone posted a comment under the video that Danny’s talent was INSANE. That about sums it up. Even I had no idea.

Good Morning Everyone! And, what a fine morning it is. I can die and go to heaven because our good friend Michelle surprised me with the most amazing gift. A signed photograph of Danny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I was shocked when our mail person handed me a package, I opened it and there was Danny’s gorgeous face looking up at me with his signature on the picture. I of course screamed like a 5 year old
The mail person thought I was crazy of course and now is telling everyone in the office to visit my desk to see what all the screaming was about! I am showing my pics (Michelle sent me some other pics as well that are all blown up and beautiful!) to anyone that asks.

MARYANN, thanks for that link. Interesting what people think outside of AI boards. Danny is the only one I’ve followed after AI and looking forward to his future. He has the total package as we all know. The one gesture I do like while singing Maria when he touches/pulls his collar,for some reason I do think it’s kinda sexy.

You already know that I never watched AI and discovered Danny through Susan Boyle.
Well, I discovered Christian rock through a Jewish couple that I met at a party! Seriously!
A fellow parishioner (this happened when I lived in another state) invited me to a party for her son’s First Holy Communion. Sam and Sally (the Jewish couple) were at the party. I think they were neighbors. Anyway, Sam LOVES music, and we started talking about that subject. Not sure exactly how we veered onto Christian music, but it was Sam who told me about Petra and Stryper. (I definitely had no idea that there was even such a thing as Christian heavy metal music!) Later, Sam gave me a couple of used tapes that he’d gotten from the local used records store — Petra’s “Beyond Belief” and Stryper’s “Soldiers Under Command.” Obviously, the lyrics aren’t Sam’s cup of tea, but he thought they both produced good music. Later still, Sam gave me a ticket to see Petra in concert! Have no idea where or how he got the ticket, but I did attend the concert. Sam and Sally are a delightful but somewhat odd couple. They used to attend the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Remember when that was a cult hit? Sam is just such a music fanatic!
Since that time, I’ve bought additional music from Petra, John Schlitt, Stryper, Michael Sweet, and Kathy Troccoli. And a coworker introduced me to Glass Harp. Have you ever heard of them? Who are your favorite Christian artists?
DEE, forgot to tell you I did use that link you sent to listen to the Mercy Me album. I like it! I will probably buy it.

Ellen, it’s so funny how we all have different stories of how we became fans of Danny and his music. Some of us took more direct paths (as AI watchers), others, like you more long and meandering paths. Needless to say, there will be many more people coming aboard the Danny train very soon, and they will FAR outnumber his fans from the show and Internet fantards like us, lol. Get ready world, here comes DANNY!
About Christian music, I don’t know too much about it, but as a rock fan, I have heard several Christian rock bands, including Petra, and many are quite good, very mainstream sounding. Claudia, Danny is working hard. He’s a driven, Type A personality and I wouldn’t be surprised if his single is released ahead of schedule, possibly in October. That is, if 19 lets him. So Chris and Phil wrote a song for Danny? I hope it’s a good one.
I’m a little wary about Chris Sligh after his blog post. But Chris does have an incentive to provide Danny with a good song, because he knows that Danny is capable of knocking it out of the park, and it will make his own star shine brighter (as a songwriter if nothing else) if Danny is successful with his song. And I doubt that RCA Nashville will allow Danny to record the Chris/Phil song unless the material is good. (For that matter, I think Danny’s own instincts would kick in, and he would not record the song unless it was good and suited his voice/direction.)
Cheryl, congratulations on getting your signed photo. I know that must have made your day.
Ellen, methinks Chris may be trying to ride on Danny’s coattails now, but hey, it’s all good if he writes a good song for Danny.

Michelle, Chris didn’t say anything bad about Danny. He just said he didn’t think he should go outside CCM, but I’m almost sure it’s envy over Danny being signed my a major label when Chris wasn’t. Then when Danny announced his record deal, Chris’ only reaction was “Interesting.” It’s more what he didn’t say than what he said. Still, I think it’s a potentially great partnership that will work well for both of them. Chris has no reason now not to want Danny to do well, especially with a song he wrote.

I was reading the Danny thread at TWOP again, and the discussion about Danny’s album and his work ethic is continuing with mostly very positive comments. One person posted this song by country artist David Nail. I think this is exactly the sort of pop-country we might be hearing from Danny, only without the twang. I love this song (never heard it until I clicked it on). It has an almost rock-ish sound, I could imagine Danny singing something like this.

Helio, love Red Light lyrics and melody, can imagine Danny killing it but HATE the twang!!! Its hard to get past that. I think I actually could learn to love a lot of country if they left the twang out. I apologize in advance to those country lovers, but the twang just makes me think….white trash. Sorry, sorry , sorry! It is just so distracting to me and I’m not putting anyone down at all for loving it, it just personally grates on my nerves! I like southern accents (my sister has picked one up in Georgia), but the exaggerated twang in country just kills it for me. I think that is why Carrie is big, IMO, she just doesn’t have a real big twang.
If Danny picks up an accent in Nashville, I hope it does not come through in his music.

Helio – do you think Kara thinks Danny has also the artistry that shes talking about all season long? The “artistry” that she always said to Adam and Kris? I think she always mentions “great vocalist” and “great singer” but not “great artist” or any phrase that has an “artistry” on it. Im kinda disappointed at Kara at that point.
Helio & GokeyGuy-I can understand that. During the finale I just didn’t think that song fit Adam b/c it’s not his type of song. I did think Kris did an okay job on it despite the small mistakes. The recorded version sounds so much better. But would be interesting to hear Danny sing that though. That song is more for him anyway.

I definitely think Kara adored Danny as much as Paula did, GG, and she looked VERY upset that he was voted off (not as much as Paula, more shocked, but almost). I think she recognized Kris and Adam had more experience in putting new spins on old songs, but I think she was moved by Danny’s voice in a way no one else was able to move her.
Danielle, Danny had to learn NB, which meant he had to sing it at some point during Top 3 week. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall that week. Somewhere in the AI studios they must have a video or recording of Danny singing it, and I would kill to hear it. NB was a bad song (most coronation songs are) but Danny would have made it listenable, just like DC made Time of My Life listenable (imagine Archie or Syesha singing it–blech).
Danielle, it’s okay you love Kris, I do too! Not nearly as much as Danny of course, but I think he’s talented, adorable and has a nice voice. I wish him well. I think he’ll do okay if they just let him do the type of music he’s best at, and not try to turn him into something he isn’t.

Helio-I agree w/you. I’ve listened to ‘Live Like We’re Dying’ a couple of times today. It was really random of me to do that but I like it a lot. Kris is just awesome, adorable, and everything else. I will go out and buy his album when it comes out in Nov. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea for him to put out a ‘cover song’ as his first single but, really to me it’s not so much of a cover song. The band The Script did the same out but never put it out so I wouldn’t say it’s so much of a cover song. But other people think differently and that’s cool. I honestly believe that it will do well on the charts and become hit. Just have to wait and see on that one.
Adam I like as well. He wasn’t a favorite of mine during the show and I can’t necessarily say that I’m a major fan of his as I am of Danny and Kris yet. But after the show and during the tour he’s kind of grown on me. He’s just an all-out, geniune person. But I will look forward to hearing his first single whenever that comes out. By reading his tweets from the past couple days, he working w/some big time prodcuers and song writers. I don’t know if any of y’all have heard of Linda Perry but she used to be in a band called 4 non-blondes. Now she produces and writes for other artists like Pink and Christina Agiluera. She’s a big deal. So Adam’s album should be major, too, when it comes out.
So I have equal love and respect for both Kris and Adam.
Gokeyguy-Honestly, about the finale, I didn’t think Danny was going to be in the top 2. I wasn’t really sure. Of course, I knew Adam, of course, was gonna be in it, no question there. Then again, it would’ve been a shocker if he wasn’t. It would’ve been interesting to see Kris/Danny or Danny/Adam, which, obviously, a lot people thought that Danny/Adam was going to be it. Don’t really know. But that night of the top 3 result show I had a gut feeling that Danny wasn’t gonna have enough votes to make it and, unfortunately, the results were what they were.
Now that I think about it, Danny’s better off coming in 3rd instead of winning anyway. He would’ve had too much pressure to be 10x better than he was on the show. You see how they’re doing that to kris now,right? So, it is what it is w/me when it comes to the finale.
I know that there are a lot of people who think that if someone covers a song, they need to change it up.
I don’t agree. I have liked covers that have been true to the original (but with a different voice) AND covers that have arranged the song differently.
One of my friends criticized “Renegade” because he said it sounded too much like the original verson, but I like it.
Also, who can say that Danny doesn’t have the capacity to change up songs? Exhibit #1: “Stand By Me.” Exhibit #2: All of Danny’s tour songs, that he sang differently from concert to concert.

Pam. You and I are totally on the same wavelength when it comes to country music. My parents and brother and cousins, etc.. listened to a lot of country and it would just grate on my nerves. I can’t handle the twang. It seems so unreal and exaggerated. I know that there a lot of people who love traditional country music, but for me I find no appeal whatsoever. I am so curious about what Danny does with country. I believe him when he says he is going to bring a whole new flavor to the music, but I wonder how much influence there is going to be from the label, producers and industry for him to add some twang to his songs. Hopefully they will be smart enough to know that Danny’s uniqueness is what is going to make him a success.

Weighing in on the Adam and Kris. This morning I was talking to a coworker who’s family was really into Kris but they don’t follow the idols on an everyday basis. She was telling me that she heard that Adam’s single was going to be coming out soon and his album was coming in November, then she asked me if I knew when Kris was going to release his single and Album. When I told her Kris had already released a single on Itunes, she was shocked because she had not heard anything about it. To me it really is proof that 19 is heavily promoting Adam and kind of giving Kris the shaft. the average AI viewer does not even know about Kris’s song. BTW she did not know Danny was going country and was releasing a single in November and Album in March.

Nancy, Adam fans feel threatened by anyone who might steal some of the spotlight off of Adam, and Danny is the only one who can do that. In that sense he is a threat to Adam–never mind that their music styles are completely different–they want Adam to be the star, everyone else extras. I don’t even think Adam minds about Danny possibly stealing some of his thunder (because I think behind all the makeup and diva-ish behavior he is deep down a pretty humble and nice guy), but his fans sure do. Kris was never a threat to Adam, even though he won.
Yes, ITA, Danny is so much better off in third place and I couldn’t be happier about what’s happening to him now. Sure, I wanted to see him win, we all did, but like Danielle said, it is what it is and he’s better off for it. Danny’s coming out of this thing the real winner. Nothing against Kris, because I think he will do well too as long as they just let him be himself.
You know how every season there are certain “roles” the contestants play. I think last year, with the top 3, things worked out exactly as they wanted them to. They wanted Cook to win (Archie was the original TCO but it shifted to Cook after Billie Jean), they wanted Archie to be runner-up, and they wanted Syesha in third place. That’s exactly the way things turned out too.
This year, things didn’t work out as they wanted. They wanted Adam to take Cook’s role and win, they wanted Danny to take the Archie role and be Adam’s runner-up, and they wanted Kris to be third.
I have always said from the day Danny left AI that he was MUCH better in 3rd because he could call the shots. I think he’s going to just fine. He’s rough around the edges and needs some experience, but who hasn’t been coming off idol?

Helio I did listen to that video from the Country singer and I think Danny would KIlL that song!!! I am of the mind set like Cheryl and Pam, I don’t really care for the twang but I do appreciate country music( I loved Dolly Parton), But I only care for a hand few of country artist. I watched a bunch of videos from MMSC on YouTube and it made me sad that Danny is going country. He is SOOOOOOO good with R&B and “salsa” and it’s quite clear that he enjoys doing it too. I dunno. I just hope it’s the right way to go for him and that he’s happy, number one, and successful.
Don’t worry, Nancy. You can take the man out of Soul but you can’t take the soul out of the man! (did that make sense?) Anyway, listen to that David Nail song I posted above. Imagine Danny singing something like that without a twang. I don’t think Danny is even capable of a twang, and not all of the newer country has one.
Nancy I think we all wish that he could have done R&B, I believe R&B is the perfect fit in terms of his voice, but it does not work in the business world with a white guy with a soulful voice: I think he won’t have the audience needed and it is too competitive I guess?? I believe Danny will do fairly good with Country: I do believe he is the new kid on the block that will transcend and transform country music, I know there are a few people who are reistant to change (the country fans), but I do believe I large portion of Country fans will embrace Danny because of his new flavor ( I HOPE!!). ELLEN, That’s so funny about the Jewish couple brought you to Christian music. When I worked for this tv station(mid 80′s) I met a lot of Christian artists. I was so new to this world, I didn’t know who they were, I wish I would have paid more attention. In fact, I think I met Kathy Troccoli, many artists were very big in the Christian circles. We had a variety of people, authors, movie stars, athletes, missionaries, & preachers. My favorites were the writers. I love to read. One in particular that made an impression on me, Dave Breese, funny, witty, intellectual, & godly “Seven Men Who Rule the World from the Grave.” He was one of the most interesting man I’ve ever met. Anyway, music, I also went to see Petra! We have a church that holds 10,000 people. They would have lots of concerts of all sorts. The crowds were crazy loud & fun. We had mega concerts at this church. I didn’t know you could have this much fun in a church setting. My all time favorite is Steven Curtis Chapman, but also Michael W. STEP6449, I love the lead singers voice on Third Day- Mac Powell. One of my favorite albums, “Wherever You Are.” When I watched the history on the group, our anti-Danny producer “Howard Benson produced their last album. I was a little surprised at that. Chris Daughtry also was featured on their last album, “Revelation.” I wondered if that Howard Benson deal was blown outta proportion? Also I checked out to see what happened to Daughtry’s old band, found this article:
Being a loyal guy, Chris made sure to give his original band members the chance to audition for this new band. Unfortunately, the label and the management didn’t feel that they were ready for the undertaking, but Chris is confident that his old buddies will be completely successful on their own. The band is now made up of some seasoned veterans of the business, including his bass player, Josh Paul. Josh, or “JP” as he’s known, has spent time with the band Suicidal Tendencies as well as Everlast. Chris says that he’s known his drummer, Joey Barnes, for years from playing in the same circuits. In the end, Chris says, they were really looking for people that could capture the feel of the album while also portraying a certain level of “coolness and stage presence.” As he said, “I didn’t want it to be about me.”
Just want to make mention Daughtry’s last album has a lot of moving parts, a little country, rock, Christian theme running throughout. I do believe Chris once played in a Christian band.
Danny will hopefully will have a lot of latititude to showcase his strengths.

Dee – thanks for the info on Third Day. I do have their new album, but hadn’t known some of the other things. I’ve tried some other Christian groups, not liked all of them; will have to sample some of the others mentioned above. One more in the gospel vein I have a lot of CDs from is Yolanda Adams.
Interesting that Chris Sligh is reentering the picture. He may have multiple motives, but I’m glad he’s not sending out skeptic signals publicly anymore.
For those who aren’t sure about Danny and country, what did you think of the Life is a Highway performance Danny did at MSMC? I agree with Helio, really loved that one. Tons of energy, and it showed Danny can find a type of very upbeat country song to include. I had some worry there that so many of the faster country songs are about topics that wouldn’t suit Danny. His version is much more energetic than Rascal Flatts, although I’ve not seen them live; maybe they amp it up more in person than on the recording/video formats.
Agree with those commenting about the song arranging issue on both counts. It’s not always or even usually necessary, and I’d say that is even more true in country music. Too much or the right kind of twist on a song is just gimmicky. David Cook got praise (earned IMO) for putting a different take on songs when he went thru AI, but he also could and did sing them straight out, like the Phantom song he chose for the broadway segment.
Danny also can rearrange songs to sound differently. The JTTW performance from this past weekend’s conference is slowed down a lot and a very different vibe than the Carrie original, or Danny’s mini-version on the show.

I am a fan of Contemporary Christian Music or whatever they are calling it these days. Have had Third Day’s “My Hope is in You” for a long time. Some of my other favorites are Sarah Kelly, Newsboys, Sonic Flood, Lincoln Brewster, Tree63, and Petra. But yeah, I couldn’t see Danny doing just Christian music….
Oh I forgot to mention that Danny’s sister posted a picture of her baby on Facebook and I told her it looked just like her Uncle Danny’s stank face! It DID!!!

- Danny is lazy and has no work ethic. Wrong (last 4 weeks – AI Tour, moving to Nashville, prepping 14-song solo concert including new band and production planning for an out of state event, planning meetings with reps from brand-new record label, preparing to record new music for his album, accelerating SHF activities incl new website, appearances at NYC church center event, etc. etc.).
I think Danny is among the most driven of the performers this year, possibly even more than Adam, and far more than Kris from what I can tell.
- Danny will blow out his voice on tour and miss concerts/appearances for vocal rest. Wrong. To the degree that happened at all, it wasn’t Danny.
- Only CCM will want Danny, he needs to stay in his niche. Wrong, both because obviously country labels wanted Danny, but also his niche wasn’t even CCM to begin with. He did church music, just like Michael, Kris, Lil, and however many other AI contestants who’ve gone in a variety of directions.

I agree; and I think Danny is definitely the hardest working (way more than Adam) of the bunch. He managed SHF in addition to the tour, also bargained with record labels. Yes, he didn’t have to record like the other 3 but he did the previous, plus was the most dedicated to his fans. Adam never came out in the afternoon so he could “rest”. Danny always did and also after, except for I think two times when family showed up unexpectedly.
Adam’s fans have also said one reason Adam’s voice is Minnie Mouse on some of his songs is because that is to avoid strain (I don’t really understand the concept but whatever)- Danny gave his all during every show, and had the sweat to prove it! I am not trying to diss Adam at all here, I know he is driven and hard working; just playing devils advocate because so much criticism gets leveled at Danny for stuff others also do!

I’m having a drink with my hubby celebrating a new phase in his/our life. As many if you know Ron was downsized w/ a number of other executives from the company he worked for. Today was his last day. He’s blessed to have a year of full severance pay. He has decided to take this opportunity to do some volunteer work with an organization called Beacon of Hope. He will be going to New Orleans for a month or two to help rebuild and to help the disadvantaged. We are excited that he will be able take time to do something he has always wanted to do but did not have chinks of time to devote to it. I’m trying to convince him to get involved with SHF. Maybe when he gets back from NOLA! Michelle sent me the volunteer application for SHF. I am going to volunteer and hope Ron will too.

Yep Steph, Lizzy did make a visit to Rickeys. I was hoping the haters wouldn’t zero in on Danny and JTTW but I see that they did. It took them 3 days though which is good because nobody is really talking about the concert now – hope it stays that way. I was worried when Danny fans started discussing on twitter and posting about it and then putting the perf on Utube that haters would pick up on it. Kind of wish everyone would have kept quiet about it and then there is Joel who annoys the heck out of me mentioning about Danny’s fly being open. I’m with Lizzy and Maryann about Joel. A few of Joel’s tweets have offended me, and I don’t think I’m that super-sensitive. It’s Public Relations 101 that Joel’s actions will reflect back on Danny (whether that is fair or not). Someone needs to explain that to Joel. If he really cares about his cousin, he will rein himself in. He doesn’t have to muzzle his sense of humor entirely; he just needs to more selective in his choice of venues, i.e., not in public.

after watching the clips from dannys concert, all i have to say is this. I pray every day that it will be God’s will for Danny to be successful. This country and our children need men like him to look up to. He is a true inspiration. We have enough so called artists beating up their girlfriends and getting on stage interrupting speeches. Its about time that we have someone for our children to look up to and as parents we can be proud of who they look up to. Danny is a fine man!!!!!!! I plan to support him in any way i can. Dyan I agree with you…and I think that’s why Danny gets some heat too. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he’s not afraid to say what he believes, and often that’s just not popular, but he doesn’t care. I think that’s what endears his to many of us.

I’m home now and have read all the comments. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Ron and myself.
Latrece I don’t know if you are still around, but no I will not be going with Ron. Hopefully I will visit him at least one or two weekends. I have to work and can’t get a lot of time off. Also, no we do not have children. Just never happened for us, so we are pretty tight as a couple since we are all we’ve got.
I am first now finding out about the Chris Sligh and Phil Stacey info. Chris is hard to figure out, but I hope he has good feelings about Danny and vice versa.
Cheryl, I’m sorry to hear about your husband losing his job, but how awesome he is going to be working on the clean up projects in New Orleans! He may meet Frannie Wessel there–she’s an active member at DCO and Rickey’s and has been going to volunteer there every few months with her husband. It’s probably the same organization, not sure. But that’s so big hearted of him to do this when the financial chips are down. When things are tough, sometimes the best thing is to help someone in an even worse situation. I know those poor folks in N.O. still need all the help they can get from the devastation of Katrina. If I didn’t have kids still in school I might be doing something like this myself.
As for Rickey, I don’t think he hates Danny, but I do think he’s a hack journalist who lifts the most sensational garbage off VFTW and other fansites that focus on the negative and sensational. He doesn’t research the facts and posts hearsay as fact. He does this with Kris and the other idols too, not just Danny. He’s just lazy and I also have doubts about his emotional stability. I do appreciate him though, for bringing us the cellcasts for most of the tour.
Carole, I’m sorry you’re feeling down (I am too, it’s this darned SAD I suffer from every fall) but thank you so much for keeping us up to date about the X Factor, and Danyl. I really hope he goes far. I can’t say about the others, as I haven’t seen them, but I’m pretty sure Danyl would be my favorite anyway. Like Danny, something about him and his soulful, big voice just got to me. I really do hope Simon brings this show to the US.

Nancy Jen and Michelle gave him a card and some gifts. He loves Teavana and I believe that was part of the gift, along with Jen’s tribute video to Danny. He was acknowledging them for their kindness. I love that Danny is so kind to his fans and he acknowledges them with DM’s and emails. He is a really busy person and I find it impressive that he personally thanks people.

I wasn’t able to attend the NY concert either, have been very jealous watching the videos but really really enjoying them. Several amazing performances, from the soft emotional songs, to the R&B fun songs, to that really rocking performance of Life is a Highway.
If Danny does show up in Oklahoma for his next show, you’ll probably have to fight us all off for tickets.
I can’t believe there is no video of YASB from the concert at MSMC. WHY?

Helio It is awesome that Ron is going to be able to help others during this time. He is involved in a lot of charities and on the board of a number of organizations, but this is something he always wanted to do. He often talked about taking a sabbatical from work to do something, but it never worked out. Now he vinally can do it. I will mention Frannie Wessel’s name to him.
You are right about Rickey being a hack journalist. He is just a guy who started a blog and like you said is rather lazy in his research. He loves sensationalism and gossiping. He did do the cellcasts, so I do have to appreciate him for that.
Helio, have you tried the special lights for SAD? I have a friend who lives in Minnesota (originally from PA) who has SAD. He sits by a light box in the morning and has said that it really helps him.

The Father Gokey post was here, not at Rickey’s; it was kind of cute as two girls were talking and one asked the other why she called Danny ‘Father,’ and the other gave her answer.
I put the new (to me, anyway) Youtube link in it, and the girl whose tweets I was copying had her link to where she was watching it and it made her cry.
Maybe she had another link I missed, and I wound up in moderation. Or I zapped it somehow without realizing, which I’m quite prone to do
Hi All – Was just reading through the day’s posts and saw Steph’s note on my twitter query about Sophias Heart 501c number. I will do that again..tried before but no response. We have a United Way campaign going at work, but we can opt out and instead support any 501c charity, so you know I would rather give to Sophias Heart every paycheck. Actually Rach, iluvlab isn’t the head volunteer, she is just one of many. Our own Michelle was approved as one also!
Chrisine (labs) is part of the Official Gokey Gang in Milwaukee, but they have no supervisor capacity over anyone, just trying to recruit. They are also trying to org. a 5-K run in Milwaukee (and possibly other states) but its not approved by SHF (yet)

There seems to be some confusion about the head of volunteers for The Official Gokey Gang and the head of volunteers for SHF. Two different things.
I sumbitted an application and was approved by SHF to be a volunteer. Their greatest need is in Milwaukee right now and eventually they will need volunteers all over the US and the world.
As you can imagine of a staff of 4 people has limited resources and they are doing the best they can to go forward with the initiatives and vision of the organization.
Well, I’m calling it a night early tonight – think I’m coming down with a cold! Don’t know if tomorrow will top today, but who cares

Actually that was just a conference call with a bunch of people (Michelle was on the phone also). Danny only popped in for a minute to say Hi and he appreciates what everyone is doing, then left. If you want to volunteer you can contact Labs, or Michelle or just fax your application directly to SHF.
