It’s not about music.
The American Idol tour that stopped at Sprint Center Sunday is about many things- aspirational dreams, theatrical drama and hormonal hysteria among them — but its music component is merely an afterthought. The event is a celebration of celebrity and pop culture. It’s crass, but it’s also a lot of fun. An audience of approximately 10,000 took in the spectacle.
…
The appearance by Danny Gokey, who took bronze in the competition, was typical. He’s personally ingratiating but musically dull. A brief motivational speech was touching and helped explain the audience’s undeniably strong emotional bond with the singer.

Bill needs to get his hearing checked….
Danny was anything but dull last night. He was amazing! No need to read the rest of his article because I can’t trust this editor’s judgment.

Dull? Music that touches your heart, makes you want to fly or cry and makes you want to listen to over and over again is dull!?
I suppose he finds Beethoven’s 5th “musically dull” also.
Gee, lets get more Lady GaGa- that’s so exciting (sarcasm). He’s made 2 Rascal Flatt tunes I thought were boring so fresh and exciting for me.
Interesting this person’s review is kinda opposite from so many reviewers who are annoyed by Danny/his story personally but admit he has vocal chops-he likes him personally but thinks music is boring. Well, we will see when his own music comes out!
I got to the “musically dull” comment and quit reading. Maybe I’m sticking my head in the sand, but I really don’t want to read stuff like that.

Did read the whole article, quite a nasty one. Hard to pay much attention to these articles by people who just aren’t into the whole experience, and dislike all of the performers that much.
His own review doesn’t make much sense for Danny, and is more complimentary to Danny than he realizes. Danny’s speech, which appears before his 4th song out of 4, is what caused the audience to have an emotional bond with him that had nothing to do with his actual musical performances?
Umm, maybe it had to do with the great job he did on the three songs that came before that.
…and this reporter’s talent as a writer pales in comparison to his peers.
Total turn off.
Danny was the best part of the Sprint Concert in Kansas City. He seemed to really connect to the audience. Lil was much better than I expected.
The audience seemed to really connect with Scott, Matt, and Danny. Lil also did a great job.
Everyone was leaving during Kris so that was distracting. I think they wanted to get to their cars first or maybe to get a place to get autographs. I watched the whole concert and was still able to get out to the autograph area and be right up front though.
The evening was very LONG because the MUSIC was too loud and the sound was bad. I could only understand the singers who sang ballads because the music was so loud. Danny got a standing ovation twice so there must have been LOTS of fans.
Adam was good with Mad World but he sounded like a little pixie during one of his songs and it was very weird. After seeing him do his lewd gestures and act so feminine I can’t believe I LOVED him and thought he had the charisma of Elvis. He was just icky and I could not even enjoy his high screams if he did any because the music was too loud.
He was Nasty and it gave me the creeps. Entirely different than the TV experience.
Lil was BETTER than TV. Megan was Worse,, what is wrong with her? Scott was better, Matt was better, Michael was good, I missed Anoops performance unfortunately, Allison was prettier than usual and her hair looked great. I could not hear her voice.
But I was surprised how well Danny did and how the crowd LOVED him. I could watch an Entire show of just Danny and surprisingly I felt the same way about LIL.
