I’m trying to figure out how we can all best share our experiences/video/pictures from the tour. I could do it one of two ways…I can go ahead and create blog postings for each city and then create a listing of all of them where we can comment on them like we have been doing.
OR
We can utilize the forum and create a topic for each city. I could also have a listing of these as well.
The forum is good b/c pictures can be embedded and more people are familiar with forums. BUT we all seem to be doing well with the blog postings and everything would be in one place.
What do you think?
Amy– I think the blog posting of videos and pictures may work great. We will get a chance to view the concerts, make comments and enjoy the pictures that each one presents!

Amy: Since you are the webmaster I think you should to it the way you think will be most effective and convenient. I am fine with the way we are doing it now, but I can see where a forum might be useful since pics and vids are embedded and the various topics are sometimes easier to follow on a forum. Most of us are pretty comfortable with the current format, but I will certainly adapt to whatever way you think is best.

I think the forum will be a better choice. Since then we can post as much as we want and keep the site in good condition. Maybe you can post entries of all the days from the concert but then lead us to the forum. Something like that….like a funny pic or fan pic that leads us to the forum. I dont know if im making sense. LOL

Since I seem to be the only one on here NOT being able to see any of the concerts, I will be living for all reports, stories, videos and pics from everybody else so that I can at least live the excitement if only vicariously.

I think having all the info. from the concerts in one area is a good idea too, Shirl. I have had problems trying to find out where the ladies are chatting at times. I would be on one page and thinking everyone had left, but everyone would be on another page. Yea, I’m not too bright, ha!!!
VickieCarol, I had problems finding exactly where everybody was too, at certain times, just like you. I’m not too computer savy, so I subscribe to all of the pages now, and get the alerts as emails. Sometimes it really fills my inbox if I’m not online for awhile, but at least I can make sure I’m not missing anything! And when it comes to Danny, I need to know every little detail! At the bottom of the message window on here, under “submit comment” you can click the little box to subscribe to all the pages.

If Danny signs today, do you think he will be able to say anything or is the record company going to make him wait until they want it announced? Danny seems like he has a hard time keeping secrets. He is so open and honest and he likes to talk! Seems like even if the record company told him to not say anything he would let some little hint slip into a tweet anyway.

Cheryl— you had me laughing, you said it correctly that sweet danny will let us know in a subtle way via his tweet if he got signed; danny is a big kid, he can’t keep secrets very well (awww sweet precious baby). I believe the protocol for announcement is that the record label officially anounces it so there is no confusion and rumors as to what date he was signed, his genre of music and any songwriting for the future.

I signed up for twitter just because I heard Danny had just signed up for twitter and I wanted to know what was going on with him. It has been great getting messages straight from him, hasn’t it. VickieCarol, Danny is the ONLY reason I signed up for twitter. I was never into myspace or facebook or livejournal or any other type of social networking. Until NOW! It is so addictive, it drives me crazy but I cannot break the habit. And every time we get a tweet from Danny, I have to remind myself that it’s not just for ME, it’s for ALL his fans. But I love the connection it has even so. And I bet that even after the tour, and he gets to moving on to whatever God has in store for him next….he will always be in touch with his fans and let us know exactly what he’s up to on twitter….even if it’s just to let us know he’s hungry or he’s sleepy or he wants a shower. He is just sooooo precious!

What a great picture. Have you noticed that Danny is so comfortable around everyone, just people, not matter who it is. He always stands so close to whomever he is posing for a picture with. He just loves people~~~~And it shows.
karen, yes I joined that site (dannygokey-star.com) and in fact posted under the shower curtain thread on the message board. This is set up like a regular internet forum. I also like the fact that the proceeds from the sale of the teeshirts goes to SHF. I want to order one of them but am not sure about the color, so I sent Patti an message on the site asking about the Team Gokey shirt.

Yes Karen I got a feeling he wont be doing the official announcement; I get the feeling that a lot of R&B artists are interested in danny, he has been meeting, and talking with different R&B artist off record to get a feel for what they see in him and how he fits into that world. I certainly concurr with everyone here that Danny can flow in modern country, R&B, JAZZ ( michael buble type). I know he really wants his music to influence this young culture so that he can make a positive impact in a real way!

KAREN ~~ Join the unhappy club, along with VickieCarol and myself. I am really so sorry you won’t be able to go to the concert now. Also really sorry your husband is going through the problem with the discs in his back. I had to have surgery last fall for a ruptured disc plus nerve damage. The shots didn’t help me at all but I know they have helped many other people we we’ll pray that this lesser procedure will work for him.
And yes, I signed up with my email address. This is par for the course for joining any website if you want to read the treads in the forum, or receive updates, etc.

Same here~~~I’m a big fan too. That audition of Danny’s was as good as the best of them or better. I compared him to Chris Daughtry with that raspy voice. They said that Chris D. should have been in the top two or won and the same goes for Danny.
I am also learning something new everyday about this internet/social networking thing. My kids and husband are in awe every time they see me blogging away and checking my twitter. “You go Mom” is the word around the house. I also mention you ladies and something that was said and my husband says, “Oh you mean the imaginary ladies, Ha, Ha?” I said they aren’t imaginary. They are REAL!!!
I believe Danny is doing the Country primarily because that is what is being offered to him and he will dress it up in his own flavor, also, I believe that he will do a lot of collborations with R&B artist ( at least I hope so) to reach a wide audience and grow to his fan base to take is music in the direction that is his passion.

Latrece I hope you are right about collaborations with R&B artists. Danny said he would do Country Soul with no twang. He really emphasized no twang, so I think he still likes the idea of doing R&B Soul, but he is willing to do Country Soul with his own flavor. I don’t like that these record companies push entertainers into one genre. I know there are other idol contestants who wanted to do one genre and they were steered in a different direction. Danny could do just about anything and I wish he would be given the leeway by the record company to do his own thing.

karen and VickieCarol My husband, as you know karen, is hot and cold about Danny. He likes Danny but I think he is a little jealous of the attention I give Danny. I don’t mean to neglect my husband, but sometimes I will be in the middle of doing something Danny related and he will ask me to do something for him and I get kind of mad. I think he does it on purpose to see if I can tear myself away from Danny!!!! Lately he will ask me questions while I am on the computer doing my Danny thing and later on he will quiz me just to see if I was paying attention to him – sometimes I’m busted because I don’t have a clue what he is talking about!!!!!

Just received a “Thank you for your donation” phone call from SHF. Spoke to Marilyn Rosado. Danny has instructed his staff to personally call all donors to say “Thank You” – what a guy.
A couple of things I found out – Shirl that sight you found

Marilyn spoke to Ivan and they were taken aback about this, they asked me to spread the word that if you buy merchandise from here, it is not going to SHF. SHF is working on getting official merchandise available, but it will be a couple of weeks. No other sites have been endorsed by Danny Gokey or SHF. It really looks legit and they even used the SHF logo and says “Approved by Danny Gokey” – what nerve some people have!!!!

Michelle. I think that’s terrible that AI was against the Dine With Danny event. I don’t like the idea of the AI people trying to control him. Do you know if they were upset about the number of songs Danny sang at Summerfest? I was thinking that they are so strict about the idols not singing that they might have been upset that Danny sang 7 or 8 songs at Summerfest. Rachel Danny is the perfect person for any reality show because he has such a great personality. I think Danny should go on Amazing Race with Jamar. And, wouldn’t it be fun to see all of the Season 8 idols on Big Brother or Survivor? Of course Danny would be fun to watch on Dancing With The Stars. I personally think that Danny should do his own reality show about his journey going forward. The only reality show I would not want to see Danny on is the Bachelor because there is too much sleazy stuff that goes on.

I don’t think AI has ever had a contestant like Danny, with dual interests. Most people just want to be famous, so I don’t think they quite know how to handle the charity work he wants to do.

Michelle The contract doesn’t end until 19Entertainment wants it to end. The idols have to be either signed by 19entertainment or released from their contract to sign with someone else. The idol contracts are completely one sided, it is always up to 19Entertainment to decide when to sign or release.

Michelle I agree that AI/19Entertainment hasn’t had an Idol like Danny who wants to incorporate his music and his foundation. I would think that if you have any humanity you would think that it is wonderful to have a contestant who cares so much about other people. You would think they would be calling every possible news outlet to get Danny’s story out there and help him spread the word. But, of course it is all about the money for them and I don’t think they are willing to give a cut of proceeds from album sales to charity. the best Danny can probably do is use his own personal earnings to put back into the foundation.

karen Sony Nashville is one of the music distributors for 19Entertainment, so if he signs with Sony Nashville, 19Entertainment is also part of the deal. Adam signed with Sony RCA and Kris signed with Sony Jive. All of them are distributors for 19Entertainment. At least that is my understanding.

Latrece A lot of the previous idol contestants were not happy with 19Entertainment because they had too much control over them. Kelly Clarkson was very unhappy when she first signed. They made her do music she did not want to do and they made her do that awful movie with Justin Guarini. Taylor Hicks was not happy with 19Entertainment. karen I’m not an expert but again, my understanding is that the idols are not allowed to talk with anyone without approval from 19Entertainment. 19 decides who they can talk to. So, if Atlantic Records wanted to talk with Danny, they cannot without approval from 19Entertainment.

Just like Danny can be sued for singing without their permission, he can be sued for talking with other record companies without 19′s approval.
Kinda sucks doesn’t it. I bet Danny is not enjoying that part of the music business. He just wants to make good music and make money for his foundation. He doesn’t seem to be the kind of person who wants to be held back.

Michelle Thanks for asking about my husband. He is still at work negotiating a severence. He is hoping to stay on payroll for 6 months and then get a 2 year severence. Today he is traveling for the State of Illinois because he is on the Board of Directors for one of the state’s finance organizations. He and I are very blessed because even though his job has been eliminated, he has the ability to negotiate a severence. Most people who lose their jobs (and I have many family and friends in that situation)do not get to do that and are left in very difficult circumstances.
I really don’t understand all these record deals and so,
I’m going to just wait and see what happens to our Danny..

Cheryl, Just last week I spoke with Damaris (Sophia’s sister) and was told the bracelets and teeshirts would both be available soon, and that all the information would be up on the website when it is completely done over. She asked me not to go public with any further information until that time, although it seems that by now everybody knows the shirts and bracelets exist. The downside of this is that she told me the same thing over a month ago so again, I’m trying to be patient but it’s definitely not a virtue I possess! But I do understand that these things take time so we wait until it happens. There were evidently a lot of requests for the merchandise because Mari Rosado said she was helping Damaris get the first shipment of orders in the mail by the weekend.

Hi Karen, I’ve been wondering the same thing too! I guess it depends on where people live, whether or not they’ve seen the AI tribute to MJ yet. The west coast peeps won’t see it until 11pm OUR time here in the east. Also, I guess I am just really bummed about not hearing anything from Danny except for a reminder to watch the show. As “up” as he gets over good stuff happening, I really think we’d have gotten at least a tweet with a hint in it! I know I shouldn’t let this get to me the way it does….and maybe it’s silly to get so wrapped up in a celebrity….but it is what it is and I have no control over my feelings for wantng the best for him.

Well I am going to stay optmistic that they are still working on deals and seeing where he best fits. I hope evrything is going Ok. Remember when men say they will get back with you, it does not mean the same thing as when a women says it. When Danny says he will update us, I take it that he means when he has sort things out and he is in the mood then he will let us know something, that could be a day or two from now. I don’t see Michelle on here tonight but this will interest everybody here: I got an email from that Patti who has that dannygokey-star.com site. Michelle talked to someone at SHF and they know nothing about her, never heard of her or her plan to send proceeds from the sale of her Danny teeshirts.
She claims she’s left word on SHF but has yet to hear from anyone. Doesn’t want to try to contact Danny about her site, doesn’t want to bother him. Her contact is John Negron, a friend of Danny’s. Michelle Twitter can be very touchy. When I tried adding a picture for the first time it took about 7 days of trying before it took. You just have to keep doing it until it works. Once you have a picture up you can change it and it takes only seconds. But the first time is tough. I almost gave up.

She was the first person who contacted me when I sent a message to the site because I wanted to make a donation but the site kept rejecting my visa card. Basically, if you see merchandise on sophiasheart.org – you know it is real. Mari did say they hired a new company to update the website and we would be see more frequent updates shortly. Michelle, that is exactly where I tried to make my donation! It just would not “accept” it! It just kept returning to the page for me to fill in ALL my details again, each and every time I hit SEND or DONATE or whatever it was. I called anc called and called because I was getting so frustrated with it!!! I also kept sending messages. FINALLY they called and explained about the problem, told me to send a money order.
That Frames Direct thing on the site has me baffled! I don’t think they are equipped to handle all the fraudulent claims or else they just choose to ignore it.
vc, when I spoke to Mari today, I told her there were many fans that wanted to help beyond just individual donations. I suggested that they post something on the site. I don’t think there is much they can do until they get the building built. They are working out of someone’s home right now. There are two people in WI and am not sure how many in TN. I asked if there was a direct number and she said no, just the 800# posted on the site.

Shirl, Danny came right out on twitter and said all of these endorsements were fake. I DO think they need help, but may be a little leary of whose real and whose not.
Shirl, yes I used a Visa card, it went through and then I got an automatic email saying “thank you” for my donation along with a receipt for tax purposes.
That’s how Mari got my phone number because Danny has them calling to personally thank all of the people that have donated.

I read your comments and I hate to tell you that it wasn’t me. My comments say VickieCarol not vc and I wasn’t even on then. So, that is strange. I clicked on the vc and it brought up a weird website. I don’t get the connection to that either.
I made a donation in May but haven’t received a call. Maybe they called when I wasn’t home? I didn’t leave my cell number, just home phone…
But even if they don’t or can’t call back, that’s ok. I’m sure they are just swamped. I do feel bad that people are tying to make donations and not able to do so. I guess I’ll try tweeting Mari and see if they might want a little help, tho I’m sure they have to wonder who is legit…
My sister knows one of Danny’s cousins, so maybe I’ll try there first.
Michelle, I never got the “thank you” or any kind of confirmation. Just a return to the page for all the info. After about a dozen or more times of filling out all the information, it got a bit tiresome and a bit tedious! So I sent messages and I called. MANY times. Almost gave up. I got an email confirmation when they received my money order, thanking me. This was over a month ago anad at that time they were only emailing thank you’s for donations. A personal call is wonderful, and so sweet of Danny to have them do that!

I have saved all season 8 episodes and keep watching them over and over again. Some of you said that you have never been like this with any celebrity. This has never happened to me either and it feels quite funny to be an adult woman in a steady relationship and then suddendly get hooked on following Danny’s life. I don’t know whether I should think more deeply why I’m feeling like this, or just enjoy the feeling?

VC, I’m afraid the only way you will get through to SHF is to just be persistent with your calls and your messages. I sent my donation the beginning of May, as you also did. I really can’t afford another one on July 9. I may try to donate a small amount but if my visa still doesn’t take, I’m not going to bother with another money order again.

Sorry for all my typos in my early morning posts. I had just woke up and of course I was very excited about the bubble tweet and the tour rehearsal vid that my fingers got ahead of my mind!I am fully awake now and as excited as ever about Danny’s tweet bubble. I am looking forward to the videos and pictures of those who are attending the concerts; I hope the videos are somewhat clear please! I know those who are attending the tours will be soo elated at just the priviledge of having the opportunity of seeing Danny perform so well! I was viewing some of Danny’s interviews and he specifically indicated that he will take his stage presence and performance to a whole new level! ( more engagement and interaction with the audience ( possibly more touching, pointing, pelvic thrust and possbibly sexy outfits!) look for it ladies!
I wonder why Danny chose three country songs to sing on his tour? I thought he would choose Brian Mcknight ( Still) for one of his songs, but that did not happen. Is he trying to show the record companies that he can sing country well without the twang? I hope in the future that he will collaborate with some R&B artists. I would like to see threads in the forum for the tour. It is organized that way and there is also room in there for general discussion threads and to talk about other idols etc. THat way Amy could keep the blog to current Danny news and you can go in and see each tour stop in a thread. I’ve seen it in other sites like that and it makes it more orderly. Also helps aleviate spam!
