Danny started his night with “Dance Little Sister” chosen by Paula. Honestly? I wasn’t a big fan of the song itself. BUT that said, I think Danny did well with it. His vocals were on point and that’s what matters.

As for the next round, Danny absolutely blew it out of the water. Was Amazing. Blew it Up. Hit it out of the park. However you want to say it. That by far was my favorite performance of his to date. Strong in the right parts. Beautiful falsetto. So heartfelt. Simon had it right with masterclass. I just don’t even know how you can compare ANY of the vocals tonight to that performance.

So how many times have you read this is my first time writing..well for me it is. I just want to say that I am in awe of Danny Gokey’s singing capabilities. He deserves great things, not only because of his voice, but all at the young age of 28 years old, he’s had to deal with. I have my opinions on his competition, very strong opinions however it should be kept to oneself in the spirit of being non bias and non judgemental. Anyway, good luck Danny! You deserve your dreams and I hope you will see them come to be. Things happen for a reason. Sometimes it’s really hard to understand why, but you never can stop having hope knowing that each day is a new day and serves a new purpose.

I think the lines are closed and lets face it the judges would turn on Danny if he made the final and I want him to go out with a bang like last week when Allison’s goodbye performance was incredible i would rather him go like that then be eaten up by the judges and outsang by Adam in the finals I accept whats going to happen and I am sort of happy about it

okay – voting just ended! my mom and I were both voting almost the entire 2 hours (I was in class for the first half hour, but voted on the way home and then when I got home!) DialIdol is now just too close to call… Danny at 27.1 Kris at 27.9 and Adam at 29.5 It’s just waaaay too close to call!
And remember when Adam was in the bottom 2, he was listed as #2 on DialIdol right underneath Danny and he still came in as the bottom 2!!!! So never give up hope!!!!! I’m just hoping and praying our boy makes it into the finale.
I actually have tickets to go to the American Idol Tonight show hosted by Jillian Barbari or whatever and Ace Young for tomorrow night, and I told myself I’d only ditch class if I really thought Danny was in danger. My teacher even told me to ditch his class to go to the show! ha ha ha So I’ll check the stats in the morning to see how I feel about it… but I’m just praying he makes it through! He deserves it sooo much!
Plus – his 5th Wedding Anniversary would’ve been this Friday, so I’m just hoping that he makes it through! GO DANNY!!!

This is the first time writing anything about Danny Gokey but I am a huge fan of his and I knew he would be one of the top from the first time I heard his voice! I pretty much think he has gotten over 3000 votes off the phone lines from me alone! he is such a great singer and he inspires me so much and that is what an American Idol is. But on the other hand, I can see where you’re coming from when you said you’d like to see Danny go out with a bang.. That is true. I mean, face it, we all know Adam’s gonna win, it’s sad but it’s true… and if Danny was in the finale he’d pretty much be in Adam’s shadow… plus Adam would do all of his press first, and then Danny would. So I guess I can see the logic in Danny going now, it gets to be all about him and not like an after thought of the guy who didnt beat Adam.. ya know? I mean, I’m still upset about it, but I can see how this would work in his favor.
Elliot Yamin came in 3rd and is doing great. I just bought his second cd and it’s awesome… no matter what Danny does, he will be amazing!

Thanks Cindy – I’m hoping he pulls through tonight, but I know I need to prepare myself for the worst. We all know how talented Danny is and he is sooooo great with his fans from what I’ve heard, and that really shows who he is as a person… he will definitely make it far. I know he loves his hometown, but I’m hoping he also stays in LA for a bit after the tour to work on music. I really wanna see him dive into it and get a CD out right away!
Those of us who love to hear Danny sing want him to be a part of the finale, that’s for sure. I voted my rear end off last night. However…we have to tell ourselves that if he doesn’t make it into the finale, he will still be FINE.
Danny’s Christian faith (which I share with him) affirms that God has a plan for each person’s life. If his plan is not to be the American Idol…or even the first runner-up…that may not be a bad thing. It might even end up working out best for him in the long run.
If you read that USA Today article, when Danny was asked what he wanted to do with his career, he said, “to leave a mark on people’s hearts.” I’m confident that whatever happens, that goal will be fulfilled in his life and his career.
Last week during Danny Gokey Day, a reporter asked Danny about how tiring this must all be for him. He replied something to the effect that he often wished he could just take a week off from singing.
Maybe God knows (and I know some of you might think I’m over-spiritualizing this, but bear with me) that Danny needs a break from the extreme pressure. He went from saying goodbye to his wife, straight into the fish bowl/pressure cooker of American Idol. On top of that, he had to deal with unrelenting antagonism from people, mainly online, that can’t stand him.
If he doesn’t make it tonight, we can all know that he’s going to get a break from all of it, just a little sooner than we all hoped. He can rest, restore, get his bearings, and be ready to go for the summer tour. And with his talent and ability to connect with people, the sky’s the limit for his career!
All along, I’ve felt like I knew Danny. Since I work at a radio station that’s in the listening area of one of the churches where he led worship, I actually do know several people who know and love him. He’s almost exactly the same age as my oldest son. So, I find myself caring about him more than I normally would care about a reality show person.
Trust me, whatever happens tonight, Danny will be fine…in fact, more than fine.

And if he does leave tonight he has had so many enemies but now all of a sudden people are saying that he changed them and they really like him now!! and the scripture came to me- He will make his enemies at peace with you.Just some stuff to think on.. I just was really looking forward to seeing him on all the talk shows and stuff too and introduced as the runner up but that might not happen.now. I dont mean to over spiritualize anything either its just thoughts. and like Danny would say- Faith is not faith unless its been shaken.
I thought tonight we will hear if Danny is safe or not..Ryan will probably be happy to announce it because I heard he really wanted Kris in the finals but anyway this is what came to me- Danny is–maybe not safe tonight but he is SAFE in the arms of God
what I was saying it seemed a lot of you guys were trying to make and excuse why he was at the bottom of dialidol and listing the previous mistakes they made and I don’t blame you I did that for the first few minutes I really actually want him to go home tonight now before you start ripping me to shreds think about it 19 would never let Danny make the type of album I am sure we all wan’t to hear I think it would be great for him to get another record deal and make a Christan music album
I hope Danny makes it to the finale but if he goes home thats good too because I think this is just so overwhelming for him and I think he knows Adam will win and I think if he stays he will be just so overwhelmed and tired and would probably be broken hearted if he just made runnerup I want him to rest, mourn and grow as a person and a artist
Danny Gokey is getting ready to bless this world in ways it never expected! His talent has been consistant and his heart has been as well. There is something compelling about a person who is decent and filled with a love that rules his life. And he is cute on top of all that.
I have no doubt that he has counted the cost and is willing to walk in his purpose on this earth. He is one of many who realize the source of it all is bigger than he could ever imagine and that helps him stay focused.
So, Go Danny! The world is waiting!
Cindy, I’ve felt the same way about Danny. But I think a lot of people do. I’ve heard it said many times, what you see is what you get. I think he’s just an open kind of person. Which is the exact thing I don’t like about Adam. Who in the world is he off stage?? Yes, they say this is a singing competition but it’s just not!
There is something that struck a chord in me when you said about him needing a break from singing. Something I read in one of the articles I posted today said something about him not ever really dealing with his feelings from Sophia. Maybe it is time for him to take a break. BUT the finale is only one week away!!! Ack, I’m so torn!

I am so angry that Danny was voted off… What happened America! This man has an absolutely incredible voice. Raw, natural talent. Yes he is still a star and can start on his career even sooner now that he is off of the show. Still I would’ve loved to see him win it. I will not watch the final performances (I bet we can all guess who will win(. Either way I have to say thank you to American Idol for introducing Danny to the world and I wish him mega success.
I could not believe it when Danny did not make it to the final showdown. He has been so consistant in his performances. He is so gifted. I personally do not care much for Adam Lambert’s theatrics or constant screaming. After a while was very predictable. He is talented though. His voice reminds me of Ted Neeley from “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Kris is very talented too. He plays his instruments well and with great ease. I still believe that Danny is better.
I also love how genuine he is. He stands true to who he is and his faith.
Danny, if you are reading this, you have gone through an awesome journey that God has ordained. His plans to prosper you and use you for His glory have taken off!

Hey Cindy – thanks for your post. I too am a Christian and I just find that the fact that Danny is very open about his faith and his life is very refreshing. You dont see a lot of young men who talk the way he talks and are as open and honest as he is. He SHOULD be able to talk about his wife, they were together for 11 years. So people putting him down has just aggrevated me.
My birthday is actually May 20th – and I was hoping to see Danny win American Idol for my 27th birthday, cuz that would be the ultimate thing for me! But it’s okay, because I know he’s where God wants him to be.
I think he got as far as he needed to be in the competition, and watching his brother’s interview was great because being the Winner or Runnerup, you’re bound by the American Idol contract, whereas now, he’s not. He can freely go and do what he wants to do, and I am very very proud of him!
Every time I listen to “You are so Beautiful” my heart skips a beat. He sings from the soul and so tenderly. We miss you Danny and can’t wait to see you on TV at another time.
I was wondering if anyone else had problems when they tried voting for Danny Tuesday night? I have spoken to many people whose calls were kicked out before it even started ringing. I tried every number for an hour and a half and could not get my calls to go through. I don’t understand how Danny could never be in the bottom and somehow not make it to the finale. I almost think that the show is fixed. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch the finale without him in it.
I will miss hearing Danny sing each week and look forward to him releasing a CD. Danny is truly the defintion of Idol to me. He is someone I look up to & someone I would want my children to idolize. I not only love his voice but he seams like a wonderful person all around. He has touched so many people without even knowing it.
