Will Danny Gokey go from American Idol to Dancing with the Stars?
That has been the talk ever since the third-place finisher was asked about using the ABC reality competition to improve upon his footwork, which was at times dissed by Simon Cowell.
“This thing has blown up,” Gokey says of the Dancing rumblings. That said, “I would do it,” he shares in his TVGuide.com video Q&A, “and I would be happy to do it.”
In this on-camera sit-down, the 28-year-old from Milwaukee also talks about:
* The song he would have liked to sing on Idol
* Why he duet with Kris came off as awkward. “Kris was like, ‘What is the point of this whole thing?’” Gokey shares. “We just weren’t feeling it.”
* His ideal timetable for his first album.
In closing, Gokey opens up about how the Idol experience allowed in some light on a life that had been darkened by the too-soon loss of his wife Sophia.
“I found hope in music,” he says, “and now I want to bring hope to other people

Danny Gokey Idolatry Interview with Michael Slezak

So at least they admit how crappy they were to him behind his back. Michael gives a good interview though.
Here it is folks (and sorry for the delay): Idolatry’s hotly anticipated, five-part interview with Danny Gokey. With apologies to fans of the profoundly awkward, neither Kristen Baldwin, nor her alter ego Kristen With Glasses, participated in this sit-down chat. Idolatry’s commentary episodes may be brutally scathing — a place where EW staffers and I can vent our visceral feelings about American Idol – but if a contestant is game enough to pay us a visit, we’d never go out of our way to make him or her feel unwelcome or uncomfortable. In fact, the goal of these interview segments is to be as unfiltered as possible, but just as important, to give you a better sense of each and every Idol finalist — as I think we’ve seen all season, the best portions of contestants’ personalities often seem to end up on Fox’s editing-room floors. And so it was in that spirit we approached our conversation with Danny. Press play below to hear his thoughts on wanting people to like him, shopping in the “women’s department,” and dreaming about trying out for season 9. Danny also responds to record producer Howard Benson’s contention that he’ll never make a record, gives a surprising answer about the way certain media outlets painted season 8 as a referendum on social issues, and addresses the criticism that followed his semifinal performance of “Hero” (after a relative held up a picture of Danny’s late wife for the camera). Check back later this weekend for the cherry on top of the Idolatry season sundae: An action-packed interview with Kris Allen. (In the interim, check out bonus outtakes of Missy Schwartz’s most excellent feature story on the season 8 champ from this week’s issue of EW.) We’ll also be serving up a LaKisha Jones conference-room performance during the week, so keep checking back, or better yet, click here and sign up for our Idol email alerts, which will alert you to our coverage of America’s favorite talent show all through the unbearable off season.

I assume they’ll have an article and/or video out but they have some Q&A on their twitter from their interview:
Does Danny think his fans’ votes went directly to Kris? “Yes, but Kris held his own and didn’t need any of my fans to get to where he did.”
Danny drove a semi truck and worked at a church. He didn’t get the chance to really watch Idol until getting DVR last year.
“Being a front-runner in the beginning harmed me,” Danny tells Us of his Idol run. “But I didn’t expect to get this far, so I’m thankful!”
Danny’s eager to include Latin music on his album. “I want to do a fusion of soul/R&B with a sprinkle of Latin flavor,” he says.
Idol’s Danny Gokey owns 50+ pairs of glasses and would love to start his own eyeglass line called “Gokey Glasses.”
“My main focus is music,” Danny says, “But if time permits, you better believe I’m gonna go on DWTS and prove Simon wrong!”

Danny Gokey Chats It Up With OK!
While the country welcomed American Idol’s third place finisher Danny Gokey into their living rooms and lives, here at OK! magazine we were lucky to welcome the Milwaukee native into our very own offices, complete with – you guessed it! – cupcakes from Sprinkles.
During Danny’s visit, where he enjoyed the delicious treats and posed for pictures with his faithful fans here, he dished about how his life has changed since Idol, his personal music idol, the loss of his beloved wife, Sophia, and the foundation he dedicated to her memory.
Congrats. You made it into the top three, the three musketeers.
Three amigos. Three stooges.
How’s that been?
It’s been a great privilege to make it that far on the show, at least that’s what I thought. I think a lot of people would agree with that. Just the accomplishment to go from 103,000 to top three.
In your wildest dreams did you think you’d end up being in the Top 3?
I don’t think any of us thought that it would come down to this. You’re one amongst so many. What’s going to separate you? What’s going to make you stand apart from everybody else? Yeah, I can sing, but so can everyone else, well not everyone else, but a lot of people can sing who come to the auditions. And somebody has to grip them. My goal was just to make it to Hollywood, and I made it much, much further than Hollywood.

Kris Allen on side-mouth singing, lip-synching, and calling Danny a ‘jerk’
On speculation that he and Adam Lambert painted their nails as a campaign to get a Kradam finale. (i.e. at the exclusion of Danny Gokey)
That’s not what we were saying. This is what we were saying: There was this tabloid thing that came out about me and Adam, about how we don’t get along because I’m this conservative kid from Arkansas and he’s this L.A. liberal guy. Which, I could be nothing less than conservative. I’m just from Arkansas. And they were like, “He’s cranky because he misses his wife and Adam’s nail polish is all over the place and they can’t get along.” And we were like, “That’s so stupid. That’s the stupidest thing.” We just didn’t want people to think that we didn’t get along. Because we’re really great, great friends.
On calling Gokey a “jerk” on Larry King Live last Friday, in response to Gokey saying he had picked Allen to win.
That was a joke. Seriously, we’re all really good friends and we joke around with each other so much. It just came out. He’s like my brother as well. We’ve become so close. We’re around each other so much, we just joke around a lot. I hope people didn’t read it differently. I’m sure the Danny haters will. [Slips into a mean, angry voice] “Kris hates Danny!” It’s so weird that everyone hangs on to every word you say. But I’m not gonna change. I’m not gonna not joke around with Danny Gokey.

Just have to give a shout out to the little girl in the window making the heart sign. We <3 Danny too!
Oh and Juliet told him he made her cry
Danny appeared on The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet this morning. She asked about him being a germaphobe and he said I just like to be clean. She asked about his glasses and he said he recently lost 9 pair he’s looking for. He mentioned wanting to do his own line. She asked about DWTS and he said yes, he’d like to do it but right now he’s concentrating on the foundation and his music.
He sang What Hurts the Most. He sounded great today!
The video is up and Mike and Juliet’s site.
